Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has said that GTA Online's microtransactions are "the gift that keeps on giving".
Zelnick told Fox News that GTA Online's success makes it the most interesting change to the heavyweight franchise. Seventy percent of players who play Grand Theft Auto V also play GTA Online, Zelnick noted.
"Just a few years ago when we put out a product, no matter how big, when we put out a hit we collected our money, we went onto the next," Zelnick said. "Now what we're finding is we're creating recurrent consumer spending and we have the gift that keeps on giving."
Zelnick said he emphasized the need to cultivate recurrent spending among players when he took over as Take-Two's CEO in 2007 and "it's nice to see it coming true."
Rockstar Games plans to add the Capture mode to GTA Online's content-creation tools on April 11. Co-op Heist missions will be enabled sometime this spring.
A total of 32.5 million copies of GTA 5 had been shipped out worldwide as of February, approaching the record for best-selling console game ever.
Released on September 17, Rockstar's acclaimed open-world title generated $800 million in worldwide sales in a single day, with GTA V revenues reaching $1 billion after just three days.

The PlayStation Vita version of Borderlands 2 will finally launch next month, Sony has confirmed.
Already played the PlayStation 3 version for hundreds of hours? Not to worry - Borderlands 2 on Vita will let you pick up where you left off using the game's Cross-Save support, a new EU PlayStation blogpost explained.Four player online co-op support will also be included. The Vita version contains six of the game's expansion packs: Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty, Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage, the Psycho and Mechromancer character classes plus the Collector's Edition pack and Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 1.It's a generous helping of content but one that lacks the game's last two season pass add-ons (Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt and Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep), the level cap raising Upgrade Pack 2 and the five Headhunter DLC mini-expansions.The news comes just a day after word of an upcoming Borderlands 2 prequel headed to PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 later this year.

This week's PSN update brings PlayStation systems the the smallest of people in their smallest versions, courtesy of the newly released Lego: The Hobbit. It's out at retailers for PS4, PS3, and Vita, but if you'd prefer a download version it's also on the PlayStation Store.
That'll set you back $60 on PS4, $50 on PS3 and $30 on Vita, so if you're after the smaller of prices, King Oddball at $7 might pick your fancy. The physics-based puzzler has an Angry Birds flavor, except it has a floating rock head who chucks smaller rocks around with his bizarrely long tongue. Oh and he has a crown on his head. It's been out on Vita for a little while as well as iOS, Android, and a few other platforms, but this is its debut on PS4.
PS4 also has the new Director's Cut of Strike Suit Zero for $20, while the PS3 makes do with a Sonic Unleashed download for the same price. If you're after a more palatable vintage, Persona 4 is this week's PS2 Classic re-release, meaning you can get it on PS3 for $10.
Finally, Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark is the latest PS Plus freebie for subscribers, and Episode 3 of Telltale's The Wolf Among Us is available to PS3 owners, priced at $5.

Borderlands is in the wonderful business of providing goods and guns to insatiable looters. Dubbed the best-selling game in publisher 2K's history,Borderlands 2 refines a gaming bear trap of Diablo-esque questing and shooting, sending up to four friends across the craggy planet of Pandora in search of treasure, weapons and mightier bosses to topple. It's the perfect platform for more, more, more, and Gearbox Software has delivered big and small expansions breathlessly.
Some level of self-awareness has always pervaded Borderland's sense of humor, but the title of the newest game, developed in collaboration between 2K Australia and Gearbox, is the strongest instance of it yet. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! – exclamation and all – is a laughing deflection of whatever criticisms you might have in the quiver. It's not quite as big as Borderlands 2, no. It's not rethinking the franchise. It's the same engine on the same ol' Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. It's filling in the backstory between games. But, y'know, it's not like Randy Pitchford's been calling it Borderlands 3! (He hasn't,honest.)
I get the sense that fans are still getting more than the game's pre-emptive modesty implies, and that even a basic plan of "more Borderlands" grew into something slightly more ambitious. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel takes players to the low-gravity environment of the moon and the Hyperion space base that's watched over them on Pandora, and it finally lets them see things (and shoot things) as a short, eccentric robot – Claptrap.

Capcom's thrice-updated one-on-one fighting game Ultra Street Fighter 4 will hit Japanese arcades later this month, Dengeki Online reports (via Siliconera).
Ultra Street Fighter 4 includes five new characters (Elena, Rolento, Poison, Hugo, and the recently unveiled Decapre), bumping the playable roster up to 44 combatants. The game also features an array of fixes and balance tweaks, along with new mechanics like the invincibility-extending Red Focus attack and an optional Double Ultra mode.
The arcade version of Ultra Street Fighter 4 will launch on April 17. Ports for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC platforms are slated to arrive later this year at retail and as DLC for Super Street Fighter 4.

April 6th, 2014, 21:00 Posted By: wraggster
Sony let us know last year that online play for the PS3's Resistance trilogy would end in early 2014, and a recent tweet from developer Insomniac Gameshas narrowed that ending date to April 8. Insomniac's post encourages fans to get online for the trilogy's final moments and "make some memories" with some of Insomniac's own employees.
In response to an inquiry about continuing online support for the Vita'sResistance: Burning Skies, Insomniac tweeted they're "not sure" about that game's potential loss of online play.
An optimist would take this as a significant withdrawal of the Chimera invasion, but with Sony's June 2012 statement that no Resistance games were in the works, it's a little sad to think we won't get another chance to fight back the invasive alien race.

Football Manager 2014 Classic is getting its own Vita 2000 bundle in the UK, although it's launching a week after the game on April 17 - if you're just after the game, that hits shelves on April 11. There's no word on a price, but the regular Vita Slim price is £180, and going by the box art the FM bundle includes a 4GB memory card in addition to a digital voucher for the game.
If you're in need of some translations, here we go: FM2014 Classic is the latest edition of Sega's soccer/football/sportsball coaching sim, and it's a portable timesink for enthusiasts who think they can do a better job than the real managers (in some cases that's not saying much). As for the Vita 2000, it's the slimmer, lighter version of the Sony handheld, and it's expected to hit North America sometime this spring.

The MMOs are coming. Just as The Elder Scrolls Online enters full launch, Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn is prepping for PS4 with the second phase of its beta, and it's live right now. Just to remind you that it's completely open to all, and free to join and play all this weekend. Just head to the PlayStation Store, get downloading, and then get adventuring.
Square Enix is calling it a beta, but it does connect to the servers PS3 and PC players are using, so PS4 heroes-to-be can hook up with everyone else already in Eorzea. Existing characters are eligible for the phase, and progress is transferred to the game proper when it launches fully on April 14.
It's probably best to think of it as Super Early Access weekend that's free to all, and get in while you can because it ends on April 7 at 1AM PT/4AM ET/9AM UK time. For the record, the official Early Access is available to anyone who pre-orders the PS4 MMORPG, and that's scheduled to get going on April 11.

Though dedicated fans have been scouring every inch of Battlefield 4 since its debut last October, no one has yet offered real evidence of the existence of the gigantic Megalodon within EA's shooter - until now.
The footage above comes courtesy of YouTube user "" who lays out simple instructions on how to spawn the giant beast within your ownBattlefield 4 match. First, you must be playing on the Nansha Strike map which was included with the recent Naval Strike DLC pack. Second, you must find nine other willing players to swim with you out to a specific buoy near the main island. Third, you must all be comfortable with having a giant, supposedly extinct sea creature crush you with its massive bulk.
If that sounds like too much work, just watch that clip again. You won't get the thrill of virtually being there, but it's the only way to really appreciate the inexplicable yet undeniably impressive explosion that accompanies the Megalodon crashing back into the sea.

Sony seems to be considering the introduction of an Xbox-like reputation system on PlayStation.
That’s according to a survey sent out to users, as reported by VGX, which asks about the appeal of a range of possible future features.
Included on the list is a “player reputation system based on user ratings”, the “ability to chat across PlayStation platforms”, the “ability to change your PlayStation username” and the “ability to chat with more than eight people at a time”, amongst other things.
Microsoft has recently rolled out a reputation system on Xbox One that tracks users over time and penalises those who consistently offend or annoy others.

Sony is reportedly considering the possibility of introducing a PS4 user reputation system, among other new features.
The user rating system was mentioned in a survey sent to select customers by Sony, according to VGX.
As well as a reputation system, the survey asks respondents to rate the attractiveness of a number of potential features. They include an advanced matchmaking system, cross-chat and synchronisation of messages across PlayStation platforms, the ability to change PlayStation usernames, the capability to party chat with more than eight people at once, and the ability to appear invisible when online.
An upcoming PS4 update will improve the console's sharing and streaming options, while Sony also intends to enable users to dim the DualShock 4's colour-changing lightbar.
Meanwhile, Infamous studio Sucker Punch recently claimed that support for pre-loading digital PS4 games will be introduced in April.
In late March, Microsoft detailed its new Xbox Live reputation system forXbox One. The three tier system covers 'Good' players, 'Needs Work' ones, and 'Avoid Me' players, who may be subject to penalties like "reduced matchmaking pairings" and bans from "certain privileges such as Twitch broadcasting".

Soul Sacrifice Delta has been rated by the Australian Classification board.
Following the emergence of a European retail listing for the Vitaexclusive action game earlier this week, the Australian classificationstrengthens unconfirmed rumours that the title is scheduled for release outside of Japan.
Spanish online retailer Xtralife suggests the title will be available in Europe from May 19, while publisher Sony has yet to respond to CVG's request for comment on the matter.
Soul Sacrifice Delta was announced for Japan in September 2013 by Keiji Inafune, whose studio Comcept co-created the game.
"This is a brand new version [of Soul Sacrifice] with brand new elements and items which gives the unique flavour of Soul Sacrifice," the Mega Man co-creator said at the time.
The game debuted atop the Japanese software chart following its release earlier this month.
The original Soul Sacrifice has garnered a Metascore of 77 based on 71 reviews.
OPM said it was "a brilliantly well-structured handheld game, both offline and on, and despite the lack of a traditional hub world it never sacrifices depth for the sake of portability".

A new survey sent out to PlayStation 4 owners hints at features Sony is considering adding to the platform.
Sony's questionnaire (posted online byVGXNetwork) includes suggestions for cross-platform chat with users on PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Vita, as well as the option to party chat with more than eight people at once.Several features already available on Xbox One are also listed - the ability to change your PlayStation Network username, for example, or to be logged in and online but remain invisible to other users.Sony also appears to be considering a player reputation system based on users' ratings of other players - a feature Microsoft recently trumpeted the arrival of for its own system. Those who respond to the survey can rate each of these options on a scale from "very appealing" to "very unappealing".Other possible additions include an "advanced matchmaking system" to better pair you with players at your skill level or players you might prefer, and on-screen notifications for when your friends come online - a feature headed to Xbox One in an upcoming update.
