Photos of a poster (pictured right and below) said to be in stock at GameStop stores were sent to Gametrailers, boasting the same artwork and game title previously leaked by retailers

Minecraft-esque survival RPG Terraria will finally launch for PlayStation 3 in Europe on 15th May, publisher 505 Games has announced. The PlayStation Store download will be priced £11.99/€14.99.Originally created for PC, console versions of Terraria were recently released on Xbox 360 worldwide and PS3 in North America. The European PS3 version did not arrive on schedule, however, and no reason was given its delay."For all those Terraria fans wondering where the EU PS3 version is, we're truly gutted that the game couldn't come out with the other versions," producer David Welch explained last month when announcing the game's upcoming PlayStation Vita port. "We're in submission now and will release very soon."There's no word yet on when the Vita version will launch, 505 Games told Eurogamer.

The Infernal Helm.
Pre-order Diablo 3 on PlayStation 3 and you'll get the Infernal Helm, which grants an experience point boost, Blizzard has announced. Each of the game's five classes can wear it.
Certain retailers will also offer limited-edition pre-order bonuses, Blizzard said, and these will be announced soon. Diablo 3 carries a suggested retail price of £49.99 in the UK.
Blizzard announced Diablo 3 for PlayStation at Sony's PlayStation 4 reveal event in New York earlier this year.
It's due out on both the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation 4, the latter of which is expected to launch this Christmas.
Diablo 3 on console has four-player local co-op on a single screen, with controls and a user interface optimised for console play.
What it doesn't have, though, is the PC version's Auction House. Instead there will menu-driven item trading. You can play both offline and online.
The action role-playing game launched on PC and Mac on 15th May 2012 and in 24 hours became the fastest-selling PC game of all time. As of 31st December 2012, Diablo 3 had sold over 12 million copies.

Square-Enix has announced Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be opening its servers to the general public this summer. The third phase of the closed beta will be taking place this June, with the full version of the game launching on PS3 and PC shortly after. The remade MMOG is coming as a result of the largely negative reaction to FFXIV’s original launch back in 2010. Complaints included boring, wrote gameplay and a generally buggy experience. In response to criticisms, Sony president Yoichi Wada apologized for the state of FFXIV and stated that the reputation of the Final Fantasy series had been “greatly damaged” as a result.

We speak to Shuhei Yoshida on a Friday evening as he sits in his office on the 16th floor of Sony’s corporate headquarters in Shinagawa, Tokyo. The office working environment changed dramatically when the company relocated from Aoyama, Tokyo, to this building a couple of years ago. The 1,000 or so employees of SCEI, which has led PS4’s development, were spread across 17 floors in the old building, but are now crammed into just two, with roughly 500 to a floor. Each room feels as big as a football field, with no high partitions, and you can see from end to end.Yoshida doesn’t mind the layout feeling crammed. He found it a chore to take the stairs and elevators between all those floors in the old building anyway. The new setup is more efficient – he can walk the floor and have quick chats with numerous different people. The new office also gives SCEI better access to other parts of the company. “We are very popular here,” says Yoshida proudly. “Many different Sony groups and people want to work with us, so that’s great. It helps with collaboration.” And nothing pleases Shuhei Yoshida more than collaboration. For him, it’s at the heart of the whole PS4 project. Can you take us back to the beginnings of PS4 – was there a specific decision made that started that process, or a person who decided it was time to start that process? As soon as we launch a platform we have small number of tech people move on to planning for the next. So I’m sure it was the same for PS3. You know PS3 is now [on sale since] 2006 so as soon as it launched I’m sure some parts of the company, especially those hardware people who work in R&D and the semi-conductor [area] must have started the R&D effort. And 2008, as Mark mentioned in the New York event, was the time when the initial project was formed, not by just the R&D people but including different parts of the larger, more cross-sectional team.Up to PS3, the development was pretty much done by the hardware group in Tokyo. And the keys had been given [to us, after that project], so to speak. So it was Kaz who succeeded Kutaragi-san in 2006, who decided the process had to change. And he trusted the hardware team here to start involving the software team of Worldwide Studios. That was about the time we started another project, PS Vita, as well. So PS Vita was a shorter project compared to PS4 but Mark [Cerny], both Mark and Worldwide Studios were involved in both projects and we worked on both projects simultaneously.

Eve-themed shooter Dust 514 finally has a release date on PS3.
The CCP Games title will be available to download for free on May 14th. It will be supported by microtransactions, although its most alluring feature is undoubtedly its integration with PC MMO behemoth EVE Online.
“Reaching this point has required many years, hundreds of CCP employees, and the engagement of millions of players who contributed fantastic feedback during the beta process,” CCP CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson stated.
“Now we start the real journey, which, decades from now, we will look back on with astonishment at all we accomplished. The EVE Universe will outlive us all.”
CCP has promised to support the game “for years to come” although whether that will involve growth beyond the PS3 remains unclear for the time being.

The first two entries in Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto series are coming to the PlayStation Network, according to ESRB ratings. The listings, which were spotted by a NeoGAFuser, indicate that the titles will be released on PS3, Vita and PSP under the PlayStation Classics banner. The majority of Grand Theft Auto titles are already available on the PSN, but GTA 1 and GTA 2 stand out as notable omissions.Earlier this week, the CVG team picked a series of its favourite moments from the franchise in this magic GTA moments feature.Yesterday, Rockstar released a new GTA V trailer focused on the game's three protagonists. Our new GTA V preview is scheduled to go live on Thursday, accompanied by a lengthy episode of GTA 5 o'Clock.

As we reach the end of the current-gen console era, it's safe to say that it is the difficult, flawed, but ambitious PlayStation 3 that has offered up the most technologically advanced console games of the age. The complex hardware set-up may have banjaxed even the best third-party developers in its early years, but PS3 owners have been spoiled by a range of state-of-the-art gaming epics from Sony's own in-house studios - foremost amongst them, God of War creator Sony Santa Monica.God of War 3 was a watershed moment in the history of the PlayStation 3. At the time, few believed that Naughty Dog's Uncharted 2 could be matched or even bettered in terms of sheer technological accomplishment, but Kratos' PS3 debut raised the stakes still further. The third game's legendary titan boss set-pieces looked and played with an almost CG-like level of polish, astonishing many with its breathtaking per-pixel lighting, rich detailing and pristine motion blur effects. The sheer scale of ambition on display here was simply breathtaking and even today, God of War 3 ranks as one of the best platform exclusives on the market. The evolution of God of War 3 - especially from its E3 2009 debut to its March release the following year - remains one of the most dramatic transformations we've seen from preview code to release, and stands as testament to a remarkable era where PS3 game development progressed in colossal leaps and bounds. But understandably, the Sony Santa Monica team look back on this time a little more pragmatically."After E3 we had a big back-log of optimisation opportunities and ideas that we wanted to try, and optimisation finally became one of our primary foci. We also doubled the graphics engineering team just around E3," recalls Santa Monica Studio's graphics engineer Cedric Perthuis.Fellow graphics engineer Ben Diamand also confirms it was a hectic spell for the studio after the unveiling, and many tweaks in the build-up to the game's release came down to the wire. "There were so many major technical improvements that went in between E3 and shipping," he says. "Morphological anti-aliasing (MLAA) got added which improved edges dramatically and saved substantial amounts of frame-rate."The MLAA technology represented a break-through for developers at the time. Developed by SCEE's own Advanced Technology Group (ATG), it's now a popular edge-detection process that can cost-effectively remove jagged edges from each frame - one of a range of GPU tasks that were hived off to the Cell processor's surrounding Synergistic Processing Units (SPUs). Crucially, for Santa Monica Studio's effects artists, this freed up processing cycles and allowed them to add to the spectacle in other ways.

NetherRealm Studios has revealed that Batgirl will be one of Injustice: Gods Among Us' four planned DLC characters. The announcement was accompanied by an admission that "the bat's out of the bag," referencing the fact that a listing for Batgirl had onto the Xbox Live Marketplace hours beforehand.
We're assuming that this is the Barbara Gordon version of Batgirl, on account of her flowing red hair and the fact that Gordon is the current Batgirl of the New 52 mythos. We're not really sure what's up with her outfit, or the metal clubs attached to her arms, but we figure we'll learn more as gameplay footage is released next week. No word yet on when Batgirl wil be available.

Sony has sent out invitations to its Playstation E3 2013 press event, confirming it will join Microsoft in showing off its wares a day ahead of the industry expo in Los Angeles.
The conference takes place on June 10th at 6pm Pacific, just hours after Microsoft’s event takes place at 10am that morning. While the firm didn’t go into details, it will likely show off a mixed bag of upcoming titles for PS4, PS3 and Vita.
Sony livestreamed their showcase in 2012, but no word yet on whether the company plans to do so again this year.
Nintendo, the other member of the big three, announced it would be bowing out of the pre-E3 festivities – instead saving the would-be reveals for its Nintendo Direct events.

We're moving ever closer to the next-gen era where console games will be available to buy via digital delivery, day and date with the retail disc versions, but in the meantime it's Sony that is leading the charge in providing timely PSN releases of many of the latest PlayStation 3 titles. They're not cheap and you can't resell them, but download titles do offer up the enticing possibility of running your games entirely from hard drive, divorced completely from the much slower Blu-ray optical drive. So the question is, do PSN downloads provide a superior experience to traditional disc-based gameplay? It's a topic that often comes up during our Face-Off coverage. Xbox 360 lets gamers download their discs to hard drive, at the very least providing some kind of loading time advantage - but to be honest, it doesn't offer much else beyond silencing the noisy DVD drive. Meanwhile, PS3 owners are very much at the whims of the developer as to whether or not data installs to the hard drive, with only a tiny fraction of titles supporting optional installs. Utilising digital downloads from PSN returns the choice to the user but more than that, PS3 gamers can use any hard drives they want, even allowing for the introduction of solid state media - SSDs - for the very fastest possible performance. But what does that that extra performance actually translate into during gameplay? Beyond loading times, do we see any improvements to frame-rates, geometry or texture pop-in by embracing digital delivery? We decided to find out, utilising our available library of PlayStation Plus "instant game collection" titles, compared against the retail disc versions of the same game. Our focus titles are Mass Effect 3, Sleeping Dogs, Mortal Kombat and MotorStorm Apocalypse - a decent range of games that should allow us to test both loading times and in-game asset streaming.

via http://wololo.net/2013/04/29/vhbl-th...ase-postponed/
We’ve mentioned recently that The Z is in possession of a PSP user mode exploit in an undisclosed game, and that he has a VHBL port ready for the game. A few days ago, The Z shared some good and some bad news…
VHBL is a PSP homebrew loader for the Playstation Vita, a tool that allows you to run PSP homebrews inside the PS Vita’s playstation emulator. VHBL has the particularity to only require a psp user mode exploit to run, and was designed to be as easy as possible to port, but its low entry bar also comes with limitations (it will only run psp homebrews, not plugins or isos).
The Z had announced a few weeks ago that he has a running port of VHBL, and he confirmed recently that his port is complete, and could be released any time soon.
Sadly, the PSP game he uses as a vector for his exploit is only available in EU stores (and Australia), in particular it is not available in the US or in JP. This means that only people with an account in a European location would be able to use this exploit. It’s relatively easy to set up an account in another location and to buy PSN credits, but Sony has made it a pain to switch between accounts on the Vita.
The Z announced he would probably release his port for a future Vita firmware (not 2.1x), depending on the importance of releasing a VHBL port at the time (which I understand as: if something better comes up, such as a new release of CEF, he will probably not bother)

via http://wololo.net/2013/05/03/ps4-tes...psn-by-hacker/
PS3 scene member SKFU is known for his habit of sniffing and manipulating networks packets (in particular he likes to tinker the stuff Sony doesn’t necessarily want you to see when communications happen between your home network and the PSN). Today he spotted some content on the PSN that seems to be test data for the upcoming PS4.
Using what is apparently a private tools of his (interestingly named “psnsss” a.k.a. PSN Store Secrets Search), SKFU has found some test products related to the PS4, on the PSN. He revealed his findings with a simple screenshot that can be found below.
From what I can see on the screenshot, the test data is not directly available on the regular “retail” PSN servers, but on the servers used by Sony internally for development or for QA (internal beta tests, if you prefer): this is what the “Environment” values seem to imply in SKFU’s screenshot below. For more details you can check the ps3devwiki here, but basically everything starting with a “D” (e.g. D1-NP) in that list is an internal development server, and everything starting with a Q is a QA server. I am not sure what “E” stands for.
The test data itself is not revealing much. Cryptic product IDs and generic product names such as “Storefront inclusion test – Game PS4 product” or “Game Franchise with PS4 representative”, or again “Orbis test data”. Although I must say I like the one product that contains the string “WOLO” in it
More interesting to me is the fact that people like SKFU seem to have access to some of Sony’s internal PSN servers, somehow. Well, I’m sure this is no news to the people who have been deeply involved in the PS3 scene, but it is to me, and I think it’s pretty badass!
Are you excited about the upcoming PS4?

via http://wololo.net/2013/05/05/release...nd-libvitamtp/
We’ve mentioned hacker YifanLu several times on this blog, being that he is one of the handful of people believed to be in possession of a “native” vita hack (I put “native” in quotes here, as I mean per opposition to a hack in the psp emulator, but I don’t want people to assume he has a hack available in the Vita’s firmware code). Today Yifan Lu released a beta version of his new tool: a full open source alternative to Sony’s Content Manager Assistant for the Vita.
The CMA is a tool divided in two parts: a server running on your ps Vita, and a client running on your computer (or your PS3, as a matter of fact). For those of you who just joined us, there are many reasons to hate Sony’s CMA, from a hacker’s perspective but more importantly from a customer’s perspective (see my article on CMA and privacy concerns ). Also, last time I checked, that tool is not available for Linux, only for Mac and Windows.
Nobody else than Sony can fix the fact that you have to use CMA to do anything with your Vita, but we’ve seen initiatives to lower the pain of using this tool. VirtuousFlame’s “OpenCMA” was one of those, a patch that let the CMA client on windows run without having to be constantly connected to the internet.
Today’s release from YifanLu should not be confused with VF’s OpenCMA above. The “Open” here is to be taken literally, as YifanLu’s OpenCMA is a complete open source implementation of the client side code of CMA. Basically, this tool can completely replace Sony’s client, where VF’s OpenCMA was a patch over the closed source tool from Sony.
More importantly, it is the first compiled version for linux ever, so linux users should finally be able to copy content to and from their Vita! (no thanks to Sony. You can’t begin to imagine how messed up I feel typing that it apparently takes a year and a half between the release of a computer device and the possibility to copy files to it, and that the initiative is not driven by the device’s manufacturer themselves. Feels like a 50 years step back to me)
Additionally, and more interestingly for devs out there, YifanLu also released the sources for libVitaMTP, a library for devs who would for example want to create their own content managers for the Vita. Think iTunes for the Vita, or even if you have lower ambitions it shouldn’t be difficult to come up with something that looks a bit more polished than the official Sony client, which does exactly nothing to help you manage your backups and files.
In theory nothing should prevent this code from being ported to Windows/Mac as well, provided motivated devs look into the sources.

GameStop is shuttering its PlayStation 2 trade-in business as of June 1st, a company spokesperson confirmed to Engadget. "We can confirm that as of June 1st we will no longer be accepting the PS2 console or its related product for trades," the statement reads. Several of GameStop's retail locations confirmed to our sister site Joystiq that the June 1st date was accurate after a Reddit posting showed what appeared to be an in-store sign saying as much, and the statement today offers a bit more detail.
For instance, GameStop won't end sales of used PlayStation 2 hardware, software and accessories -- both in store and online -- until "several months" after the June 1 cutoff. Those sales, of course, depend on "remaining stock from trades." Additionally, GameStop reminded us that it's totally pumped for the upcoming PlayStation 4. "We are very excited about the upcoming PS4 and are making room in our stores for it and other new platforms expected this fall," the statement says. And hey, with all the extra space available in GameStop stores by "holiday 2013" (when the PS4 is expected to land at retail), it looks like GameStop will be ready for business. For GameStop's full statement, head below.

New area to be 'constantly refreshed' with new releases and promoted games
Sony is set to introduce a new indie game section on the PlayStation Store.
Taking to the PlayStation Blog, SCEE director of publisher and developer relations Andrew Parsons said the new area was designed to offer additional exposure for indie developers and would showcase the best games for PS3 and PS Vita from small teams.
The new section will also be “constantly refreshed” with new releases and promoted games, and Parsons said it will be the first and best place for users to go for indie content.
“I’m delighted that the indie devs have really taken advantage of how open PlayStation is to this tremendous mix of designs and ideas, and that we’re happy to work with everything from traditional buy-and-play games, to free-to-play,” he said.
To celebrate the launch of a new indie section, Brian Provinciano’s Retro City Rampage is currently available at a 50 per cent discount.

Shuhei Yoshida says devs can control next-gen PlatStation's social features
Developers who don't want the endings of their games spoiled by the PS4's social sharing feature can turn it off, says Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida.
In an interview published by Japanese media outlet 4Gamer and translated by Edge, the executive said the button that enables one-click sharing of video and screenshots on the new PlayStation can be disabled.
"There will be parts of a game that the maker does not want people to be able to see," said Yoshida.
"For example, on Vita, developers can in certain scenes disable the feature that lets users take a screenshot, and (the share function) will have a similar mechanism. The creator may not want to make video of the final boss shareable, for instance."
This is somewhat similar to the approach taken by Nintendo, which allows users and moderators to hide Miiverse screenshots behind a "spoiler" tag.

ShopTo stops sales of Activision games over Call of Duty: Ghosts ship date
Online retailer ShopTo has suspended sales of Activision's upcoming games after the two companies failed to reach an agreement on the shipping dates for upcoming title Call of Duty: Ghosts.
The UK retailer is unhappy with Activision's refusal to allow it to send out copies of the game to its consumers ahead of its release date.
"Activision's policy of only allowing e-tailers to despatch one day before release date effectively destroys an e-tailer's pre-order campaign as many deliveries inevitably arrive post-release date," ShopTo's Igor Cipolletta told Eurogamer. He believes failing to deliver such an important franchise on launch day puts ShopTo in a negative light with its customers.
"Of course this Activision policy is not for every title, but due to the volume and fever pitch Call of Duty seems to generate (both positive and negative), it causes the most damage to us."
He added that the competitive pricing surrounding the franchise meant the game was "in regards to profit, a complete failure." In protest at the shipping issues ShopTo is not listening a number of Activision titles on its website. While older titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified and Skylanders Giants are still available, but upcoming titles Deadpool and of course Call of Duty: Ghosts are not.
Cipolletta is also unhappy with the global release date falling on a Tuesday, which he says is a move for the benefit of stockholders, not retailers.
"Our wholesale unit price, added to the fact that the game has a worldwide Tuesday release date, means the processing and shipping requirements of this stock does not accommodate an e-tailers needs. With the requirement to pay staffing costs over the weekend, this would destroy any profit, as we cannot increase our selling price as we risk having zero orders. Essentially, if we receive stock late on a Friday, the processing time we have is halved and our processing costs double."

Sony's suggested as much before, but now always-online has definitively been ruled out for PlayStation 4."Did we consider it? No, we didn't consider it," Sony's affable Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Worldwide Studios, told GameInformer magazine (read by Gaming Everything). He seems pretty happy about all this.
"The main reason being that many countries don't have robust internet connections. It makes sense for people to have internet connections to play online games, but for offline games there are many countries that we saw do not really have robust internet."Back when PlayStation 4 was revealed,Shuhei Yoshida told Eurogamer that "oh yes, yes, you can go offline totally" - "You can play offline, but you may want to keep it connected."Very good, very good - but what will Microsoft opt for? For months, it looked like the next Xbox would require a constant internet connection, and we've heard things behind the scenes that back this up.Just this week, however, an internal Microsoft document slipped out revealing that the next Xbox apparently won't require a constant internet connection for single-player games. The truth we should find out on 21st May, when Microsoft formally unveils the next Xbox. We'll be there, ringside in Redmond, delivering a blow-by-blow account of everything that goes down.

Boss-hunting Vita-exclusive Soul Sacrifice will receive three free pieces of DLC, Sony has announced. The DLC, detailed by CinemaBlend, was revealed in an e-mail to random PSN users who received the free gift of the Spirits' Falconfeather, a teleporting item. Furthermore, the expansions were later advertised in a poster at GameStop. The first bit of DLC will be the Headless Knights and Starving Ruin Dwellers pack, due on 28th May. It will include the two titular new bosses, new Berserker magic, eight new missions, and some kind of augmented reality support.Next up on 11th June is the A Drunk and a Chef pack, adding yet another two bosses and eight new missions. Finally, the Wild Wheels and Apparition pack will be available on 25th June, featuring - you guessed it - two more bosses and eight new missions.Judging by the promotional image below, it appears that there will be seven more bosses in addition to the six detailed already. Ostensibly these will be paid DLC, but six new bosses, 24 missions and some new powers aren't bad for free.

Frobisher Says developer Honeyslug is bringing its upcoming 2D sandbox curio Hohokum to PS4 and Vita.As reported by GameInformer, Hohokum is a collaboration with Sony's Santa Monica Studio, who worked on Journey, Sound Shapes and The Unfinished Swan. The peculiar indie title follows the adventures of a flying snake-like creature called The Long Mover as it goes about haphazardly interacting with a series of surreal landscapes and villages. Its playful, exploratory nature and quirky art style recall a 2D version of Keita Takahashi's Noby Noby Boy, only with less pooping. Still, it looks just as strange.

Sony has announced plans to build PlayStation 3 systems locally in Brazil. The consoles will be manufactured in Manaus by Sony Brasil Ltda., with the 250 GB version costing 1,099 Reals.
Major upcoming games The Last of Us and Grand Theft Auto 5 are getting localized releases in Brazilian Portuguese as well. A PlayStation 3 bundle featuring God of War: Ascension will hit stores in the region as part of the "Viva Em Estado Play" ("Living in a State of Play") marketing program in South America.
Sony says it's committed to investing in the local gaming development industry in Brazil, and Sony President Andrew House claims the manufacturing setup will "infuse the Brazilian economy with approximately $300 million over the next 12 months." As one more gesture of goodwill, the first ten consoles manufactured in Brazil will be given away to local gamers.

Sony will publish CounterSpy, the first game from developer Dynamighty, a San Francisco outfit comprised of former LucasArts and Pixar talent, on PS3 and PS Vita. CounterSpy (working title) is a 2D action and stealth game set during the Cold War, in which you infiltrate Soviet and US military installations and sabotage war efforts to prevent the destruction of mankind. And just maybe set it straight, this Watergate.
Lead designer David Nottingham calls CounterSpy "primarily" a single-player game in the PlayStation Blog announcement, though he adds Dynamighty is "working on some interesting ways to let you compete with friends that go a little beyond traditional high scores." In an interview with Game Informer, Nottingham says an endless mode with procedurally generated levels is also in the works for the extended replay crowd.
There is no launch timeframe for CounterSpy at the moment. All we know is that the game will launch on PS3, PS Vita and mobile platforms – no mention of PS4.

Star Wars Pinball will include the Star Wars Episode V, Boba Fett and Clone Wars tables previously seen in Zen Pinball 2, et al.

Sony has a new $300 PS3 bundle for sale, this time for fans of ultra-realistic motorsport and rather less realistic electromagnetics. The new 'Legacy' bundle, available now, includes the 500GB black PS3, Gran Turismo 5 XL, Infamous 2, and a 30-day voucher for PS Plus.
Gran Turismo 5 XL, first released in January 2012, includes all of the racer's updates through to Spec 2.0, and a voucher for five bits of DLC. There are no fancy pants extras in the Infamous 2 disc, but it is the last chance to enjoy Cole's electric persona; Infamous: Second Son introduces a smoky new protagonist to the PS4.

Drive Club’s audiovisual sheen, as revealed for the first time on PS4 at PlayStation Meeting on February 20, might suggest that this is a videogame created in the here and now. That’s not the full story. Studio game director Matt Southern and tech director Scott Kirkland have been developing the idea since even before the UK studio started development on its PS3 launch title MotorStorm. Here, we find out why Drive Club took a backseat for so many years, Evolution’s ambitions to push the game beyond simulation and arcade racing, and how the studio is using PS4’s increased horsepower. It’s a little unusual for a game to have been at the concept stage for so long – can you tell us what forms it has taken as it has existed and evolved over the years?Matt Southern: I’ve been here nine years and it was probably one of the first concepts I was told about. Over the development of Drive Club over the past couple of years we’ve revisited some of those old materials to look at how it is the same and in other areas different. And certainly right from day one we wanted to use everything we’d learned about recreating real-world locations and that lovely feeling you get when something just looks breathtaking. It’s our favourite element of shows like Top Gear, where they just do it so well, you’re reminded of an absolutely staggering vista and that in its simplicity can be such a wonderful thing to see, that’s always been a core part of the game. So has recreating real vehicles with real love. Try to communicate not just the technical side of a vehicle but the way these things are built with love and passion and just how amazing it feels to sit inside, that’s always been a part of the Drive Club experience. Looking at some of those, again, those very early pictures back when we were independent, some elements made their way into bits of Motorstorm, we had those two ideas [of Motorstorm and Drive Club] on the boil at the time.

Developing titles for PS4 and the new Xbox will be significantly more expensive than current-gen programming, according to Capcom.
The result, it has told investors, is that release schedules – which are already experiencing quite severe levels of drought – are liable to become even leaner in the future.
“Even though a full line-up of new home video game consoles will eventually be released, the industry is likely to be in a period of scant new product releases over the near future, awaiting the full-scale launch of the next generation machines,” it stated.
“In the meantime, development costs are projected to soar as advanced and multiple functions are added to hardware. Business alliances and consolidations may therefore occur in increasing numbers.”
That won’t be the only challenge for traditional markets, either.
“The emergence of smartphones has lent momentum to platforms other than game-only machines,” Capcom added. “Amid this development, the social game market is projected to be on a growing. Competition is thus expected to become extremely intense among companies.
“Faced with this sudden and significant changes in the operating environment, Capcom intends to direct its development resources to the home video game software, which is our core business segment, and the
development of online games, which is a growing area, based on its medium-term strategic map.”
All of which could lead you to think that Capcom could be about to exit the market. Not so. Instead, it plans on making itself simply more efficient.
“In order to lower development costs and shorten time frame for development, Capcom will restructure its development organizations, which are the core parts of the company’s business, increasing ratio of in-house
developments by focusing on the overhaul of overseas development companies,” it stated.
“Streamlining measures will also be taken over the entire business operations as part of efforts to strengthen the management system. Such measures will include further improvements in transparency, efficiency, cost reductions and financial structure.”

Sony's already got a low barrier to entry for developers on its PlayStation Mobile platform, which encompasses the PlayStation Vita handheld game console and a variety of smartphones -- just $99 for a license enables publishing across all PlayStation Mobile devices. Apparently that fee is too much for some folks, so Sony's waiving it altogether. Starting right now (as of yesterday, actually), Sony's "removing any existing barriers" between developers and the PS Mobile platform by dropping the publishing fee, thusly making it all the easier for devs to push their games to the Vita and various smartphones. There are already some great indie games featured on Sony's PS Mobile store, including Vlambeer's Super Crate Box and Super Icon Ltd.'s Life of Pixel, and this paves the way for even more.
Of course, Apple's iOS publishing fee is $99 per year and the App Store is certainly more flush with content than Sony's Mobile store, which tells us it isn't the license fee that's stopping people from pushing their games to PS Mobile.

The Delta Six gaming controller first hit Kickstarter last fall, but the plug was pulled from the crowdfunding effort by its creator David Kotkin, as he reckoned it wasn't on track to generate enough support. With hardware and software refinements made over the last few months, the peripheral has just been relisted on Kickstarter. In case you need a refresher, the peripheral puts a premium on realism and motion-enabled gaming. Thanks to accelerometers, gyroscopes and buttons in odd places, users can do things such as bring up in-game sights by looking down the plastic rifle's barrel, or steady their shot by pulling the faux weapon close to their arm.
Now, the campaign is asking $159 for controllers with black or white paint jobs and orange tips, as a second look at production costs indicated the project's original $89 price tag was too low. This time around, the funding goal has been locked in at $100,000, instead of a cool half a million. As for internals, the shooter is toting anArduino, which opens up the hardware to software updates and customization. Not only will the blaster work with PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the Wii U, but it's set to boast compatibility with next-gen consoles through an update, to boot. If the Delta Six reaches it fundraising mark, it'll ship out to supporters in December. Check out our hands on with the contraption or head past the break for Kotkin's video pitch.

Numerous new business models have penetrated the games industry in recent years, but Activision CEO Bobby Kotick says he doesn't expect any 'dramatic changes' in the way you'll pay for games on consoles. "I can't comment specifically on the next generation consoles, but our general view is, we approach new business models skeptically, and we take our time and we look for those that will turn out to be something that is sustainable for the long term," said Kotick during an earnings call today."I think we're seeing a lot of exciting new ways for customers to pay for their experiences, there are a lot of new ways for us to monetize our content, but I can't say that you're going to see any dramatic shifts in the way things are monetized on consoles," he added. The emerging free-to-play business model has already impacted console gaming on current-generation machines, particularly on PS3 with major releases such as DC Universe Online, Dust 514 and Free Realms.Meanwhile, Activision has seen the loss of 1.3 million World of Warcraft subscribers in three months - one of a narrowing selection of MMOs still using a subscription model.

New console won't be as costly to build as its predecessor, claims CFO
The PlayStation 4 won't be produced at a major loss, says Sony chief financial officer Masaru Kato.
The next generation console might be a step forward technologically, but it doesn't rely on such expensive proprietary designs as the PS3.
Sony told investors this means it expects to keep next year's operating income near the same level as previous years.
"Unlike PS3, we are not planning a major loss to be incurred with the launch of PS4," said Kato.
"At the time we developed PS3, we made a lot of in-house investments to develop the Cell chip. Development of the chip saw the silicon processing and all the facilities."

Ken Kutaragi to assist with Japanese publisher's business fortunes
Former Sony chairman and the man widely described as the ‘father of the PlayStation’, Ken Kutaragi, has been named as an external director at Japanese game publisher Marvelous AQL, according to a report by Nikkei.
The news site (translated by SGCafe), reports that Kutaragi will be bringing his years of experience to help speed up developments in the company’s business at home and overseas.
Marvelous AQL has been building its business gradually since the merger of separate games firms, Marvelous Entertainment, AQ Interactive and Livewire in October 2011.
In 2012, the Harvest Moon and Rune Factory publisher formed a European subsidiary and, earlier this week, renamed its US publishing arm, XSeed, as Marvelous USA.
Kutaragi was instrumental in the creation of the original PlayStation, leading the hardware that designed the system architecture and pushing his vision to get Sony into the games business.

Sony has moved back into profit for the first time in five years despite a significant drop in revenue from its games business.
Sales and operating revenue for Sony’s games business decreased 12.2 per cent year-on-year to £4.5 billion ($7bn).
Operating income for the sector decreased by £180 million ($280m) to nearly £12million ($18m), which Sony blamed on declining hardware sales of PS3, Vita and PSP hardware and the impact of a price reduction on the Vita in Japan which took place February.
The console giant said the drop in revenue was due to a decrease in sales for PS3, Vita and PSP hardware.
During the last financial year, Sony sold 16.5 million PS3 and PS2 consoles, down 1.5 million from the year prior. The firm also sold seven million handheld systems, down just 200,000 from the year before.

One of the most controversial video games ever made is to re-enter the UK market.
Rockstar has confirmed that PS2 title Manhunt will be released on PSN next week on Wednesday May 14th. It will cost £7.99 and be found in the PS2 section of the store.
Also releasing on the same day are a number of other Rockstar titles including Red Dead Revolver and entries from the Grand Theft Auto and Midnight Club series.
The Warriors is also due for a release but won’t arrive until a later date.
Manhunt rose to infamy in 2004 after being linked to the fatal stabbing of Stefan Pakeerah, whose attacker – Warren LeBlanc – was accused of being “obsessed” with the game.
Calls to ban the game received the backing of Labour MP Keith Vaz, elevating the issue to the public consciousness.
It eventually transpired that it was Pakeerah and not LeBlanc who owned the game, but that was not enough to stop the series forever being shrouded in controversy.
The release of sequel Manhunt 2 in 2007 led to even greater problems for the games industry when the BBFC elected to ban the game from sale in the UK. This decision was eventually overturned in 2008 after Rockstar successfully challenged the BBFC’s ruling, arguably laying down the foundations for the eventual ditching of the BBFC in favour of PEGI in 2008’s Byron Report.

The damaging expense of launching the PS3 will not be repeated when the PS4 arrives later this year.
Sony’s chief financial officer Masaru Kato told investors last night that the investment needed to design and produce PS4 was “much lighter than the past platform”, according toCVG.
Added Kato: “When we launched PS3, initially we had a negative margin on each unit that we sold which was quite big. It did come down over time as we reduced the cost of the console, however the initial investment was quite big due to the fact that we had to design the Cell chipset from scratch which cost a lot of money – hundreds of millions of dollars.
"In addition to that, we had to invest money developing the silicon conductor fabrication technology, as well as the capital expenditures for producing the chipset. All of these amounted to billions of dollars of investment for the platform which had to be recouped as we sold software and hardware.
"Compared to that business model, PS4 utilises a core chipset. Yes, we have designed it with our own technology, but the core of the CPU is something that's available ready, so we're not designing the chipset from the ground up.”
Kato added that Sony has outsourced its manufacturing for the console, drastically reducing the upfront costs.

Sony’s latest financial report clearly shows its handheld division is struggling, and the company isn’t one to disagree as it looks forward.
The firm provided a forecast of 5m units sold for PS Vita and PSP devices in its fiscal 2014 calendar, following last year where the two combined to sell just 7m units. PS3 and PS2 consoles are expected to double the forecasted figure to 10m in the same period, with help from the PS4 launch.
The forecast indicates that Sony is apparently resigned to its fate as far as Vita’s sluggish sales, with PSP’s contribution reducing each quarter – as Japan’s support for the aging device continues to decline.
Handheld competitor Nintendo previously forecasted that its 3DS hardware would move 18m units in its fiscal 2014. If both firm’s results land anywhere close to their predictions, Sony would be left in the dust comparably.

All signs point to Gran Turismo 6 being unveiled for PS3 next week.
OPM has published an image of an invite that has been going out to press regarding an event on May 15th next week taking place at the Silverstone racing circuit.
It reads: “Join us to celebrate 15 years of Gran Turismo and discover exciting announcements about its future.”
Gran Turismo 6 was first name-dropped in November 2010 – a surprise to some considering that Gran Turismo 5, which endured a hugely protracted development cycle, had only been released that month.
The game cropped up again in July of last year and was unsurprisingly tipped as a potential PS4 title. However, talk emerged earlier this year suggesting that the game could in fact be heading to PS3, despite the imminent release of PS4 later this year.
These rumours were backed up last month when retail listings for the game specifying PS3 as its host format appeared online.

The current issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu includes an in-depth, 12-page examination of the current status of PS Vita, including buckets of data based on a survey of 1,500 Vita owners. It paints an insightful warts-and-all picture of Japan’s mixed reception to Sony’s struggling handheld, and ends on a hopeful note. The article breaks down hardware and software sales since the handheld’s release on 18 December 2011. Monthly hardware sales spikes occurred around its launch (over 400,000 units in a short month), the release of Hatsune Miku Project Diva f in September 2012 (around 90,000 units) and the Japan-only price drop in March, when discounts of up to 10,000 yen (£64) combined with the release of Soul Sacrifice to generate a sharp uptick and well over 200,000 sales. Indeed, Vita was No.2 in last week’s hardware chart, according to Media Create, when it had previously languished near the bottom of the chart for most weeks since its release. The top three software titles to date are Persona 4 The Golden (238,064 copies since June 2012), Project Diva f (208,837) and Soul Sacrifice (166,404). The anonymous survey first asked Vita owners what convinced them to buy the hardware, and the results show an optimism that has since faded somewhat.“The screen looked so beautiful, it made my heart go boom,” said one woman, aged 30. “I usually rely on the information in Famitsu to keep me informed but I went to Tokyo Game Show for the first time just to touch it.”“It seemed like an evolution of handheld consoles such as the PSP, and the specs and the two thumbsticks reeled me in,” said a 25-year-old man.

Look, we're well aware that you're already fantasizing about the PlayStation 4, but how do you think that makes your existing PS3 feel? (Hint: Not awesome.) For those still focused on remaining in the here and now, Netflix has issued an update for its PS3 Player that "is more consistent with the Netflix player on the web as well as [its] mobile and tablet applications." The key feature in this update is the ability to easily manage your audio and subtitle selections; before, you had to hop out of whatever you were watching in order to tweak those elements, but now you can make said changes while the content is still on screen. There have also been improvements made in the "trickplay" mode mode when scanning forward or reverse in play mode -- essentially, these images now load a lot faster, which ought to keep your blood pressure at a safe level. The update is out now for PS3 users, and should be hitting select Smart TVs and Blu-ray Disc players soon.

A number of BioWare developers have discussed the potential for Mass Effectspin-offs, offering their ideal candidates for any future titles. Speaking to OXM, BioWare's Casey Hudson, Mac Walters, Dusty Everman, Mike Gamble and Preston Watamaniuk teased a number of ideas for spin-off games."There's so much that could be told in the Mass Effect universe," Hudson said. "It'd be cool to do something completely unrelated to the larger storyline, like a story about a private investigator on the Citadel. Or maybe something detailing Garrus' time in C-Sec."Everman indicated he's also in favour of a spin-off starring Garrus."While being one of Shepard's most loyal friends, Garrus has also had some of the most driven personal goals. He's a hero in his own right, as Archangel and beyond. Who wouldn't want to see the further adventures of the bold, charming Garrus Valkarian (there's a lot of guns out there to calibrate)."Watamaniuk, however, said "a game centred on brutal Krogan combat with more of a melee focus could be pretty exciting."Walters, meanwhile, struggled to make his mind up and settle on a favourite: "Aria. The Illusive Man. Kai Leng. Any henchman. The list goes on. I think most of them could have successful spin-offs of their own in some fashion."Finally, Gamble threw his support behind Javik, a DLC character from Mass Effect 3. "Following the story of Javik a little bit more would be pretty cool. As the last remaining member of a lost race, I think that we could tell a lot of stories about his adventures in the Milky Way, and coming to terms with his place in the new Galaxy."In March it was revealed that BioWare Edmonton, the studio previously responsible for the Mass Effect series, is working on a brand new IP. Hudson confirmed he will remain as executive producer of the next Mass Effect game, which is in development at BioWare Montreal. The new Mass Effect, in addition to Dragon Age 3, will be powered by DICE's Frostbite 3 engine.

Acclaimed GameCube and PS2 role-player Tales of Symphonia is to be re-released on PlayStation 3, a new report suggests. The Tales of Symphonia: Perfect Edition pack will also include the game's Wii-exclusive sequel Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. Both games will feature jazzed up HD visuals.Tales series boss Hideo Baba teased the Perfect Edition to Spanish site Koi-Nya, and said it would be "a representation of the dreams and hopes of the fans, who have long been wanting it".Tales of Symphonia scored an impressive 9/10 upon its 2004 GameCube release."It may be clichéd, and altogether a little too bright and happy for its own good, but Tales of Symphonia is nonetheless epic, enjoyable, and superbly constructed," Rob Fahey wrote, "and deserves an audience far in excess of merely the hardcore JRPG fans who will undoubtedly snap it up with glee."

Max Payne 3 has shipped 4 million units and Borderlands 2 has sent out 6 million units, according to Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick during today's financial conference call.
"Borderlands 2 remains on track to become the highest selling release in the history of 2K," Zelnick said.
That's 2K Games, which should not be confused with Take-Two's other child, Rockstar Games, which has a clear highest-selling franchise with Grand Theft Auto. The next installment in that series, GTA 5, is scheduled to drive off with everybody's money on September 17.

via http://wololo.net/2013/05/13/cold-bi...-sound-coming/
Well, we have some rather exciting news to share!
Shortly after the Vita scene drama that went down awhile back, developer Coldbird decided to depart the scene with no inclination on coming back. However some behind the scenes work and other factors have not only changed this but will spawn a new partnership; bringing the long and highly requested PSX sound compatibility for the Vita (some time soon, patience is of virtue) and increase in functionality.
Coldbird will be coming back in some form soon however due to having a life (crazy right?!?) and being busy like every developer out there, it’ll be some months before we see him. Basically, in the mean time Team PRO and TN have put aside their differences to finally work together to provide new things. As you may know sound for PSX was non existent due to Coldbird leaving the scene and his plugin that enabled sound (while functional yet extremely buggy and not ready for the public) as a casualty, ended up being left behind. Now with a clean table, they’ve decided to exchange code and the sound plugin is in the hands of TN to polish in the mean time until Coldbird’s return.
Below you can find Coldbirds official statement which explains everything currently and will elaborate on the subject matter more.
”Just wanted to give you guys a little heads-up on whats going on here.
The reason I’m writing this is because lately I’ve seen an increased flow of donations coming in for Team PRO, I thank you guys deeply for that and think that you guys deserve to be kept up to date.
Lets start with the saucy parts shall we?
Our fellow teammate Yosh, aka. wth has been busy at work analyzing latest Vita Firmwares, trying to figure out how they work and porting Ark to those.
As some of you might have noticed he also was nice enough to provide Builds for all kind of different Game Exploits we had sitting in our code repository for a while, I hope you guys enjoy that.
So lets cheer on Yosh, as (due to reallife being very busy at the moment) he is the most active member of our team at the moment… poor Liquidzigong (Hrimfaxi) and me are kinda knocked out with 24/7 jobs here…
I’ve also seen a increased interest in PRO Online and its future on both my Youtube Channel and personal messages and even donations coming my way.
Everyone that is concerned about its future, remain calm, its not dead and I will continue updating it after I’m done with my 3-job-setup here… (yes, right now I’ve got 3 jobs… 5 days at one, 1 day at another and yet 1 day at another one… the 24/7 part was no joke).
Sadly, due to contracts and laws I’m bound to this 3-job-lifestyle for another 5 months… so I hope you guys can sit tight and wait for me until then?
On yet another frontier, here is some TN news; All of you have been monitoring the whole TN-V and ARK Business out there and this has been especially interesting on the PSX on Vita part…
TN and our team have finally cleaned the table and put our differences aside sharing our code bases with each other in the hope of providing diversity without having to sacrifice functionality.
Many people have seen my proof of concept PSX sound video on Youtube and in my absence I’ve put the code into TN’s capable hands, hoping that he can polish it while I’m unavailable.
Either way, back to work for me…
~Greetings, Coldbird”
Well there you have it, more progress and support being made contrary to most people’s belief that the scene is completely dead. Hopefully this leads to greater advancements now that these two forces are working together. Stay tuned for more information, as always. Let me know in the comments below what you think!

via http://wololo.net/2013/05/11/beta-re...-02-and-below/
Total_Noob’s popular TN-V and TN-C have been ported to the recent Apache Overkill exploit. This is for those of you who happen to have Apache Overkill on 2.02 and below only.
Let me start this article off by saying this so that there will be no confusion; THIS IS NOT A KERNEL EXPLOIT RELEASE FOR ABOVE 2.02. This is a port of the (WLAN) PSPemu kernel exploit that was released on firmware 2.02 with UNO to be able to be used with the recent Apache Overkill exploit if and only if on 2.02 or below. This release includes ports of Total_Noob’s TN-V and TN-C Custom Emulator Firmwares for your enjoyment thanks to user wistine.
All released kernel exploits were patched past 2.02. So if you have Apache Overkill on OFW 2.05-2.06 you will only be able to use VHBL thus meaning no TN-V or C because it requires a kernel exploit (VHBL is only usermode). Remember that the entire Apache Overkill exploit was blocked on 2.10.
If you haven’t already checked out my massive Lower PsVita for Dummies guide, you may want to check that out. It will explain everything from tricks and tips to workarounds. In the guide I explain how you can still get a game exploit while having a PSvita on a lower firmware and if needed activate/link your PSVita so you can make use of this release or any past exploit releases. Make sure to check the chart to see which games are back on PSN and whether they are kernel exploits or usermode only.
Now, while I haven’t been able to test it out since Im personally on 2.12 everything seems to be in order. Furthermore, the only reason this is labeled as a beta is that there may be some unforeseen bugs, but there shouldn’t be. Feel free to download it below, try it out yourself and report your findings in the comments below. Included in the release are saves for EU and US only, which that can change later. On a side note do not forget to press on the R button when the exploit starts for TN-V.

via http://wololo.net/2013/05/10/release...es-up-to-2-02/
PRO CFW developer wth (aka yosh) has decided to release a beta version of ARK eCFW for all known exploits and firmwares up to 2.02.
This eCFW has been locked down to only UNO users until now.
PRO developer wth made an all in one package with ARK on all the different exploitable games and regions, theoretically even a person still using Motorstorm should be able to use ARK, but there is a drawback. While most saves should work, not many of them has been tested, mostly due to the lack of testers for all the different exploits, so use this at your own risk, of course there’s no change this will brick your vita nor pspemu.
What’s ARK?
Originally named PROVita, ARK is an eCFW running on the Vita’s PSP emulator. The CFW is based on PRO for the PSP as it ahs mostly the same features, but ARK is not just a port, it was written from scratch taking the Vita’s limitations in mind to.
What are its features?
I’ll take the time to remind you what ARK has to offer:
- PSX game support (soundless so far, our sound plugin is too glitchy for public use at the moment)
- ISO/CSO game support using Inferno Driver, known to be the most stable and compatible driver out there.
- NoDRM Engine for decrypted dlc playback
- MS-SpeedBoost (most noticable on games like soul calibur)
- Stargate Game Patches (fixes several anti-cfw games)
- Plugin support
- Recovery support
- ISO-cache support (speed up ISO gaming)
Is it better than TN-V?
None of them is better than the other. I personally use both and while I can find things that ARK does better I can also find things that TN-V does better, it’s more a matter of personal usability than anything else.
Where can I get it?
A mega package was uploaded on our ARK Download page
There are no standalone packages yet, you just gotta grab this one and find the correct save for your exploit, but I’m sure it’ll be a matter of time before someone releases standalone packages. Also know that most of them are not throughly tested, if you find any bugs feel free to post bugs here

After months of testing, 3k3y compatible with SATA drives in the PS3 is now in production.
All SATA models can be supported by various daughter cards. For now, it supports the following models: - Phat: from CECHL - Slim: 20xx/21xx The custom / firmware 3.55 is still needed for the extraction of the key, but the team would have some interesting discoveries that could eventually lead to the removal of the key directly from the player. hyndrid Thanks for the information.

Sony targeting 2013 release to ensure the PlayStation 4 does not slip behind next Xbox sales, claims insider
Sony is aiming to launch the PS4 in Europe by the end of the year after deeming it a high priority region, according to a report.
A source “involved with PlayStation’s business strategy” has told CVG that Sony is “prepared to do whatever it takes” to make sure the European launch of the PS4 is not delayed until 2014.
Sony has declined to comment on the matter.
Sony has previously touted the PlayStation 4 for a holiday 2013 release date for the US and Japan, although it was thought the UK and Europe’s launch could slip into 2014.
Sony Worldwide Studios Boss Shuhei Yoshida told Eurogamer in February it was “too early to say” whether the next-gen console would launch simultaneously worldwide, but emphasised that Europe was an “enormously” important market for the electronics giant.

It may have a name straight out of the “random aggression” wordbox, but Gaijin’s flight sim War Thunder is sounding all sorts of interesting. Coming from the developer behind the exceptionally-good IL-2 Sturmovik series of flight sims, this successor isn’t just parachuting into next-generation consoles, but is also going to be one of the first F2P games on the PS4.The team is led by the industry-leading Oleg Maddox and is promising “powerful graphics and speed, intelligent personalization, deeply integrated social capabilities, and innovative cloud options”. We’re assuming the latter is do with cloud gaming and not actual clouds, though Mr Maddox’s boys do make some delightfully curly strato-cirrus.The game features PvP modes, multiple settings for experienced pilots and newbies, tons of PvE content (including campaigns and a mission editor), co-op gameplay, and more authentic planes than you can shake a WREN at. As you can see from the trailer at the bottom, it’s not half bad to look at.It remains to be seen whether the team can make a game that bridges the gap between console and PC audiences, between the hardcore simulator fans who panic at a loose bolt and the arcade fans who expect the plane to bounce off the ground intact. But going free-to-play and on PS4 at launch shows that they’re totally fearless. The game is already available in Open Beta for PC gamers here.“We’re convinced that our cooperation with Sony will not only make the War Thunder franchise better, but it will give our fans a new level of gaming experience that will figuratively blown their mind.” said Gaijin Entertainment’s Creative Director Kirill Yudintsev. “Partnering with Sony Computer Entertainment is the most natural progression for the War Thunder brand, from our hugely successful beginnings on PC with more than 1.5 million players, to our recent announcement that War Thunder is under development for mobile devices. We are excited to bring War Thunder to the leading next-generation platform, the PS4.”

UK retailers are very pleased by Activision’s decision to make big changes to its Call of Duty series.
The publisher announced last week that the new Call of Duty will launch on current and next generation consoles, will be driven by an entirely new engine and will be a new Call of Duty brand – Ghosts.
“It’s great that Activision are re-inventing the title and introducing new brands under the Call of Duty?umbrella.” said Morrisons’ games buyer Simon Millea. “It ensures that the brand maintains its long-line of success at the tills.”
Ghosts launches on November 5th and has been created by Modern Warfare developers, Infinity Ward.
“Everyone was expecting Infinity Ward to release Modern Warfare 4, so we’re really excited that they’ve created something new,” added Tesco software buyer Jonathan Ferdenzi.
HMV games buyer Richard Thompson added: “It’s great to see Infinity Ward back in control of the franchise. With the new engine and it featuring on the next-gen consoles, this can only mean good things for the industry and customers alike.”

Sony will not delay the launch of the PS4 in Europe, a new report has claimed.
In February it was reported that PS4 would follow its predecessor’s lead by landing in Japan first and then rolling out in Europe after Christmas.
This is not so, according to CVG, which cites an specified source “involved with PlayStation's business strategy” claiming that SCE “has determined Europe a high-priority territory in the next-gen sales race”.
Indeed, the site adds that “PlayStation is prepared to do whatever it takes to ensure there is no PS4 delay across Europe”. It even claims that should launch stock be tight Europe and America will be given priority over the “safer” Japanese market.
While PS3 and Xbox 360 have sold approximately the same number of consoles worldwide, the PS3 lags behind Xbox 360 in the UK and US – a situation that Sony is focused on avoiding this time around.

For a brief, brief moment this was the most exciting thing we’d seen all year.
And even after Sony confirmed to Kotaku that it’s a fake, this PlayStation 4 reveal video is a hint of the excitement that awaits at E3 next month.
The 44-second video is certainly slick but its most compelling inclusion is a render of the machine itself. The chances of PS4 looking even remotely like this are slim, of course, but it’s great to see some artistic speculation nonetheless.
The included gameplay footage is from Infamous: Second Sun, incidentally.
Enjoy:

A man suspected of involvement in the 2008 PSN hack - the one Howard Stringer apparently didn't know about - dodged the harshest sentences attached to such a cyber crime by smashing his PCs and hiding his hard-drives.Whoops wrong one lol.
Instead of facing a possible 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine he, Todd M. Miller, toddled off with a year's house arrest, reported The Columbus Dispatch - a punishment doled out for obstructing an FBI investigation. The Judge said Miller was part of the KCUF clan of hackers who brought Sony's servers to their knees in 2008. The FBI had interviewed Miller in 2011 and returned with a warrant to search his house, but upon doing so found hard-drives missing and computers in pieces. It was, as Cliff Bleszinski would call it, "destroyed beauty".Without those computers the FBI didn't have enough evidence to pin the hacking charges on Miller.Miller, 23, said he had been "immature and ignorant and caught up with the wrong people at the wrong time" when he destroyed the computers. "You will not see me again," he promised the judge.Miller also received three years probation and was ordered to get his high-school equivalence certificate.

The Netflix app on PS3 has been updated, bringing closer design parity with web and mobile applications to the PS3. Netflix has fixed audio stream and subtitle issues in this update, allowing users to fiddle with these while watching content. Before, you had to back out back to the front-end to enable subtitles. If you've got a PS3 Blu-ray remote, just hit the subtitles button to enable.
The "trickplay" component – a fancy term for fast-forwarding and rewinding through a particular program – has been tweaked to show more image still previews while scanning through content. You can also instantly rewind whatever you're watching ten seconds by pressing left on the DualShock dpad or PlayStation remote.

Shadow Fall trailer used just over 4gb of RAM, says tech lead
The graphically impressive Killzone 4 technical demo only scratched the surface of what the PS4 is capable of, says the lead tech at Guerrilla Games.
In a presentation going into extensive technical detail on the debut trailer for Killzone: Shadow Fall, Michal Valient said the studio aimed to present the video at 1080p running at a constant 30fps, which he felt it had achieved.
He said that the game’s demo only used 3gb of the console’s GDDR5 RAM on video resources, with a further 1.5gb dedicated to system resources. This leaves just under 4gb worth of RAM spare, a factor that likely wasn’t expected during the development of the trailer given the late decision to include 8gb of RAM into the hardware.
Comparing code running in specific jobs from the PS3 to the PS4, he said that the next-gen hardware was much easier to program, as it house one main ‘orchestrator’ thread while allowing all other code to run in jobs across all of the system’s cores.
The polygon count for the in-game characters meanwhile has increased significantly between Killzone 3 and Killzone 4, with Shadowfall boasting around 40k polygons for the highest LOD, while Killzone 3 used 10k polygons.

CCP plans to support free-to-play FPS with new content and features 'for years to come'
CCP’s hugely ambitious free-to-play MMO Dust 514 has officially launched on the PS3.
The free-to-play title, which shares the same universe as PC subscription-game Eve Online, first went into open beta on January 22nd, having previously merged with Eve Online servers on January 10th.
The project is designed to bring together the player communities of both titles, with the events of one game directly impacting what happens in the other. Dust players can also join up with existing corporations in Eve Online, as well as recruiting pilots to join them in battle.
CCP said it had several major updates planned for 2013 to bring new content such as maps, battle types and extra features to the title, as well as further updates in future.
“Dust 514 has been forged by the willpower and skills of the players who have joined us on the journey to launch, and the talent and determination of our development teams around the world,” said CCP CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson.

A 23-year-old Ohio resident involved in the infamous PSN hack has been placed under house arrest for one year.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that Todd Miller was sentenced yesterday not for the part he played in the PSN breach but instead for interfering with the FBI’s investigations by destroying computer equipment that potentially contained vital evidence.
District Judge Peter Economus said Miller was a member of hacking group KCUF. He was first interviewed in 2011 but when authorities returned to his house with a search warrant they discovered that several hard drives were missing and that his computers had been badly damaged.
The Judge accused Miller of being “immature and ignorant and caught up with the wrong people at the wrong time”.
The maximum sentence for the crime could have been a 20-year prison term and a $250k fine but the Judge decided against it, saying that “he could see no purpose in sentencing you to prison because Miller has a full-time job and some stability in his life after a tumultuous childhood”.

Is it an outrageous statement to say that vast swathes of the games industry have already written Vita off?
After a terrible start Vita sales have stabilised and it has certainly grown into a great platform with an increasingly impressive range of software. But can it ever hope to be more than a niche gaming device?
Sony perhaps thinks not, having reduced its sales forecast for the machine several times and last week predicting that it would sell just 5m Vita and PSP units in the upcoming fiscal year.
But Sony Computer Entertainment Europe's senior business development manager Shahid Kamal Ahmad has told Gamasutra that even the most dedicated analysts in the world can’t always foresee that next surprise hit that can reverse a platform’s fortunes.
"Sometimes things can happen and they can dramatically change the evolution in terms of sales of a platform," he stated. "But what you can never do is say 'We're definitely counting for this kind of increase'. So you can put plans into motion and say 'We're trying this approach, that approach' and if something comes off, it's going to be fantastic.
"I had no idea there was going to be the amount of press attention that there was around Thomas Was Alone. If I'd put something like that in the original plan that I put together for engaging with the development community, I would have been laughed out of the office.
"It's really funny, because I've spoken to a few people about it today internally, and they've all accepted it as 'Yeah, of course that was going to happen'. So in hindsight it's easy to say that this event and that event is what caused a change in course dramatically, but to say that in advance is usually not appropriate or sensible.
“Looking back at the performance of different consoles over the course of history, sometimes you've had slow starts which have been suddenly sprung into life by a number of activities. What you don't say ahead of time is, 'Oh this will and that will happen, and suddenly we'll have a massive spike in sales'. It's not the sort of thing that companies do."

Gaijin Entertainment’s military vehicle MMO War Thunder has been given a ‘holiday 2013’ release date.

Sony's slogan for the PS4 may be "Greatness Awaits," based on a recent trademark and a purported ad leak. It's emerged Sony Computer Entertainment America trademarked the term last week, just ahead of next month's E3 conference. That on its own doesn't mean much, but it backs up Siliconera's prior report of a leaked script for a PS4 ad, with the term used as a slogan for the upcoming console.
The script, which Siliconera has in full, certainly resembles PlayStation's unique brand of surreal, high-octane advertising. It features a man walking down a road, talking at the camera and demanding the viewer not to be ordinary, afraid, or a slave to the past.
Around him buildings appear "increasingly damaged," and the scene grows more chaotic as windows break apart, two people covered in yellow paint sprint past him, and eventually a crowd of followers fall in line behind him. It even features a "homemade flag [sic] painted with the icon from Destiny" being unfurled out of a window, and a "giant spacecraft from Killzone" flying overhead.
The ad closes with the man saying, "Who are you to deny greatness? If you would deny it to yourself, you deny it to the entire world... And we will not be denied."
Then the words 'Greatness Awaits' appear on screen, followed or joined by 'PlayStation.'
We've reached out to Sony for comment.

Gran Turismo series creator Kazunori Yamauchi has admitted that a PlayStation 4 version of the just-announced Gran Turismo 6 is under consideration.
Sony's latest flagship racing sim was today confirmed for release on the nearly-seven-year-old PS3 later this year, despite the release of the next-gen PlayStation 4 this 'holiday'.Speaking to IGN at the recent GT6 reveal event at Silverstone race track, Yamauchi said, "We actually do have a PlayStation 4 version in mind, but for this holiday season, we thought it would be best for users to release on PS3 for now."
Seemingly moving to settle any premature excitement, however, Yamauchi added, "I thought the best scenario would be to have the game come out, then to have new scenarios, new DLC and other updates. Once the players have thoroughly played out the system, if the PlayStation 4 version came out naturally, as part of that process, I think that would be the best scenario."
If such a version were to be released, he added, gamers would "probably" be able to transfer over their saved progress.
The game was officially unveiled today with a Gran Turismo 6 trailer and screenshots, and confirmed for release on PS3 in time for Christmas.

Games retailers across EMEA regions say they are facing bankruptcy – and it’s all our fault.
Low UK game pricing has caused a sharp rise in importing amongst consumers around the globe, damaging local sales. Foreign indie stores are following suit, and buying stock in bulk from the UK. This in turn is allowing them to undercut larger chains.
Retailers and distributors from Egypt to the Czech Republic say they have seen low-priced UK releases flood their territories.
“A widespread phenomenon in Egypt is that several small business owners now import games from the UK,” said Mohammed El Masry of Egyptian retailer GameSword. “And this is how we work. We have been able to make contact with large UK suppliers offering us good wholesale prices.”
Lukáš Karel at Czech retailer JRC added: “As one of the biggest retail chains in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, we definitely feel impact of low UK prices.
“Not only do some customers order straight from the UK, but many smaller retailers import games from UK, which can result in violating street dates, lower prices than local RRP, or selling products which they shouldn’t.”
Ólafur Þór Jóelsson at Icelandic distributor Sena continued: “We are seeing more and more customers than ever shifting towards buying games from major websites like Amazon.co.uk where we see huge difference in pricing and it costs next to nothing to ship the goods.”
This is having a huge impact on global distributors, who are forced to lower their prices to match UK cost prices.
“I assume that 20 to 30 per cent of business is being lost to grey importing,” said Lalit Vase of United Arab Emirates distributor Red. “And it forces us to drop the price of our stock even when we don’t need to.
Nebojša Jankovi?, director at Slovenian distributor Videotop, said that “UK retailers are decreasing game prices” faster than publishers are in export markets.
In a bid to counter the problem, MCV understands that some global publishers are deliberately reducing the amount of boxed game stock they’re putting into the UK channel in a bid to counteract mass importing across Europe.
“You will see more limited game launches in the UK, as publishers look to prevent price discounting that can have a serious impact on certain European territories,” said a publishing sales boss.

The PlayStation 4 version of Diablo 3 will use the touchpad on the new DualShock 4 controller to make UI and inventory navigation more intuitive.
A new Diablo 3 developer video below showcases the new inventory system, along with other aspects of the console version of the game, bound for the PS3 and PS4 later this year.Diablo 3 production director John Hight says, "For us, the thing that's exciting about the new console is actually the controller. That's where it all begins, that's where you develop that relationship with your character on the screen."
He later adds, "One of the things that we're excited about with the controller is the touch pad. Diablo is a pretty deep game, and we don't like a lot of overload on the buttons, we wanted to keep it really simple so that you can get to the things that you need to get to fast. We think the touch pad's going to give us a lot more opportunity to make that interface a lot easier."
Speaking more on the game's touch pad controls, lead console designer Josh Mosqueira says, "We now have a different way that the player can interact with the game. For a game like Diablo 3 that has a lot of cool inventory things you're doing, just the possibility of the track pad is really exciting and we really can't wait to dive into it and make it as awesome as we can."
Blizzard says it has built all of the inventory and UI screens "from the ground up" specifically for controller use.
The video also demonstrates a new console-exclusive gameplay mechanic - the roll ability - performed with a flick of the right analogue stick.

Vita-exclusive OlliOlli is a low-key auto-skateboarder that's a bit like Tony Hawk's but in pixely 2D - and you're not allowed to stop. It's made indie team Roll7, due out this year and it's managed to wangle itself a spot on Sony's Vita stand at E3, whatever that means.Staying on your board in OlliOlli and clearing obstacles is one thing; doing it in style and chaining together hundreds of tricks for points is another. Levels are randomly generated so they go on forever, and there are hundreds of obstacles to mix them up.Characters are customisable to give you a bit of ownership, and there's a suitable soundtrack featuring people I've never heard of, such as Mizz Beats and LeftLane Cruiser.Besides the endless skateboarding there are Spots: sections of levels from the career mode you can post scores from for other people to beat. There will be daily Spots added that you can practice endlessly but only get one chance to post a score on.

Even though we don't yet know what the PlayStation 4 looks like or how much it will cost, one of the many details revealed at Sony's February event was that games will be playable even as they download. Now it turns out we won't have to wait for the new hardware to experience that feature on a console -- Steam, for example, does this on PCs with some games -- as The Last of Us leaders Bruce Straley and Neil Druckman told Game Informer the PS3 game will be available as a download the same day it arrives on discs, and is playable once the transfer is 50 percent complete. There's no word whether other developers will have access to the "magic" Naughty Dog worked out with Sony to make it happen, but as least there will be as little delay as possible before you begin exploring its post-apocalyptic landscape June 14th.

Project PlayStation Input Output has been trying to load PlayStation 1 game images through the game system's parallel I/O port since 2010, and now it's ready to show off the first prototype. If piracy is your aim, then modchips that let users play burned discs and emulators that have been available through the console's 19-year history should suffice, but this project aims to bypass those methods. The potential benefits include easier homebrew support and playing of ripped discs on the original hardware without worrying about wearing out an aging console's laser. Eventually the team wants to load games and saves from an SD card, but in this demo video it's playing Klonoa: Door to Phantomile from an attached PC. As seen in the nearly ten minute video it does work, albeit slowly. As the video notes, optimizations for the USB controller and CD sectors that should speed things up have not been implemented yet. According to its FAQ, the PSIO team aims to have a final version done this year, you can check out the fruits of their labor after the break.

Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection, a PS3-exclusive anthology containing roughly 25 years of Metal Gear history, has been dated for 9th July in North America where it will be priced at $50, Konami has announced. That's not too shabby when one considers that's what last year's excellent Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection launched at and this contains all of that plus the original Metal Gear Solid, MGS4: Guns of the Patriots, and the 1999 curio MGS: VR Missions. To lay it out clearly, The Legacy Collection contains the following: - Metal Gear*
- Metal Gear 2*
- Metal Gear Solid
- Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (HD version with VR missions)
- Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence (HD version)
- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
- Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (HD version)
- Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions
- MGS: digital graphic novels by Ashley Wood
- A 100-page art book
*Bonus content in MGS3.
This will be the digital graphics novels' first release outside of Japan and they detail the events of the first couple MGS games for those who don't want to be bothered by the fixed camera perspective of older titles or simply want to brush up on Kojima's incredibly convoluted lore. The only MGS games that aren't included are the PSP's Portable Ops and two Metal Gear Acid tactic spin-offs.Regrettably, no European release for The Legacy Collection has been announced, but the PS3 is region-free, so importing is an option.

Grip Games! - developer of The Impossible Game, Foosball 2012 and 5-in-1 Arcade Hits - has announced its latest project, a multiplayer platformer called Atmoic Ninjas due this summer on PSN.As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, Atomic Ninjas is a 2.5D cross-platform affair between the PS3 and Vita. Described as the hypothetical spawn of Fat Princess and Crash Commando, Atomic Ninja's gimmick is that players can't harm each other through sword slices or jumps, but must instead use a series of environmental hazards to eliminate their opponents. These consist of: lava pits, laser beams, traps, moving platforms, falling crates, and more. The game will feature seven arenas with plenty of pick-ups, crates, lifts, air vents, levers, ninja-launchers and hiding spots. Adding an extra layer of mischief, characters will have such super-powers as invisibility, flying and telekinesis. "Atomic Ninjas is not just about twitch reflexes, but also about malevolent creativity, playfulness and exploring the game's possibilities," said Grip CEO Jakub Mikyska.Game modes will include Deathmatch, Capture the flag, Treasure hunt, team-based competitions, and more.Sweetening the pot, Atomic Ninjas will allow PS3 and Vita players to play together and save files will automatically be synchronised for those who own both platforms. Additionally, you'll be able to mix-and-match splitscreen and online play for up to four players. There will even be bot support for solo players or two-person teams who want to tackle the AI together.

The once-delayed PlayStation Vita version of Insomniac's hybrid tower defense-action game Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault will launch next week as a downloadable PlayStation Network title in North America and Europe.
Full Frontal Assault was originally released as a retail and downloadable PlayStation 3 title back in November, boasting cross-play features with a Vita edition that was subsequently hit with a series of delays. Buyers of the retail version of Full Frontal Assault – and its renamed European counterpart Ratchet & Clank: QForce – will be able to download the Vita edition for free starting May 21 in North America and May 22 in Europe by accessing the game's "Disc Benefits" option.
Those who purchased Full Frontal Assault's retail edition will also receive an additional bonus after redeeming the PS Vita version when it launches next week. Ratchet Deadlocked HD, an Idol Minds-developed PlayStation 3 port of the fourth PS2 entry in the Ratchet & Clank series, will be available as a free download for Full Frontal Assault buyers when it launches in the PlayStation Store.
A release date for Deadlocked HD (also known as Ratchet: Gladiator in Europe) has not been announced.

“Cube Runner Advanced” is a much harder version of Stinkee2′s original game titled simply just “Cube Runner”, the game has been updated and recieved 10 new levels which includes and updated version of the original.
The goal of the game is to guide your cube through a field full of other cubes without crashing into them. Remember this is a much harder version than the first so you’ll have to be a quick thinker and have a fast hand. Enjoy!
NOTE: Ive yet to have this game tested with VHBL so im not sure if its compatible with vita’s.

Almost one year ago, I announced that Wagic was put on hold. Although we haven’t made a release in a year, our devs and community have been busy adding features and cards regularly. None of the members of the core dev team have the time to drive a full “beta test + release” process anymore, but it doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be any more release. Therefore, I’ve decided to open a thread on the Wagic forums where people can regularly submit builds from the SVN. “By the community, for the community”.
This release is different from our releases in the past as I will not desperately be trying to get all platforms ready at the same time. You will see, for example, that we don’t have a build for iOS ready yet. It is not because it’s not possible, but because nobody has provided one yet. There might also be lots of bugs compared to our latest stable 0.18.6 release. Unlike for the past releases, I haven’t spent days playtesting on many platforms, nor have I asked the community to do so before submitting the binaries.
But since the project is still very alive, and the only thing preventing you from enjoying it is that the people with the tools to compile are not coordinated, I figured I might as well start this.
What is Wagic?
Often compared to commercial games for its replay value and quality, Wagic is a heroic fantasy card game, in which you fight as a wizard against the computer. As you win battles, you unlock new game modes and earn credits that allow you to improve your army. Wagic is community driven and entirely customizable: you can create themes, mods, new cards, new rules, or even new games. Wagic is available in several languages (English, French, German, spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Serbian), and open source. It currently runs on the Sony PSP (as well as on the PS Vita if you have VHBL), Windows, Linux, maemo, meego, Android (phones and tablets), and iOS (iPhone, iPad).
Changelog
So what’s new in 0.19.0? To be honest, it’s been so long since the last release, and I have myself been so disconnected from Magic The Gathering in general and Wagic in particular, that I am not entirely sure, but here’s what I could gather from our SVN:
- There are a lot new cards, as we now support 10’400 unique cards in the game (up from 9’400 last year), for a grand total of 18’000 supported cards (that’s when you include reprints) in Wagic.
- High resolution fonts have been added on platforms that support it. Not everything supports high resolution in Wagic yet, but you’ll definitely see a huge improvement your PC, phone, or tablet. It is now possible to read the tiny names on card thumbnails, on an Android phone with a decent screen.
- the “gauntlet mode”, that we had a long time ago as a “source code” mode to have AI fights, has been added as a core part of the game. This means you can now have tournaments with 3, 5, 7, 13 games against the same AI, or even more “tweaked” tournaments where the winner is decided when there are 2 or 3 wins difference
- New abilities, in order to support some of the new MTG sets, have been added. You can see a list of all abilities, if you want to add your own cards, on the wiki here
- I wish I could tell you we have a network mode ready, I know xawotihs has been working hard on this, but I believe it is still hidden in our code, and can probably be alpha-tested by people who will have the guts to compile their own Wagic version. But hey, at least you know there’s some progress in this area too.
More than the release, I want to use this post as a request for the community: if you know how to compile Wagic, and happen to compile it once in a while, please head over to our “SVN Builds” thread and post a link to your compiled version, the community will really enjoy it
Downloads
These new builds of Wagic can be downloaded here. Be sure to read the instructions for each download, the downloads do not necessarily include the resource files, which you have to download separately (usually the links are in the thread)

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that the Vita is not performing well in the marketplace. The prevailing public opinion seems to be that “there aren’t any games for it,” and that “it is too expensive.” Are these claims true? The purpose of this article is to examine the Vita, and to determine its strengths (and weaknesses) and how Sony could shore up sales of the Vita.
System specifications:
The Vita runs a quad core, ARM-Cortex A9 CPU (one of the four cores is set aside for system use, leaving three cores free). This is a 32 bit processor designed for high end mobile devices (phones, tablets, etc), and is comparable to, but quite a bit more powerful than, the ARM11 CPU in the 3DS (if you follow these sorts of things, the original Tegra chipset uses an ARM11). It is also less powerful than the ARM-Cortex A15 which is in the Tegra 4 (which was just announced in January of this year). As far as CPU power goes, it can safely be stated that the Vita outpowers any device currently on the market (unless I’ve missed a Tegra 4 release), and there should be no bottlenecks in the area of the CPU.
GPU wise, the Vita uses a quad-core SGX543MP4+. This is a modified version of the PowerVR GPU that powers that iPad 3, which runs at 7.2 GFLOPS—equal to the Tegra 3, and outpacing the Pica 200 that powers the 3DS (sadly, I could not obtain solid numbers for this as Nintendo does not release tech specs for their systems anymore). There are mobile GPUs that outperform the Vita (like the Adreno 225 and the Tegra 4), but not many. Some have compared the Vita to a “portable PS3,” but the performance of the Vita is nowhere close to the PS3: the GPU in the PS3 outputs 176 GFLOPS.
Sorry little Vita, I love ya, but you’re not in the same class as your big brother.
Other neat features of the Vita include a capacitive back panel and front touch screen, dual analog sticks (yay!), Sixaxis motion controls, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, wifi (b/g/n), front and rear cameras, a 960×544 OLED screen (which is beautiful), and 3G (on certain models). The Vita also sports 512 MB of RAM and 128 MB of vRAM, which is more than adequate for such a small screen/ low resolution.
When taken as a whole, the Vita is an impressive piece of hardware, even a year after its release. These technical specs are actually a drawback for the system in some regards, but this will be discussed later.
The difference between OLED and LCD is huge. Go to your local game retailer and pick up a Vita for a test run if you don’t believe me.
Games:
There are not many games out for the Vita. There, I’ve said it. It is demonstrably true; there is no point in arguing the matter. The assertion that there are no “good” games on the Vita, however, is demonstrably false. Some AAA releases are:
•Persona 4 Golden
•LittleBigPlanet Vita
•Rayman Origins
•Guacamelee
•Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
•Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath
•Uncharted: Golden Abyss
Apologies if I did not list your favorite game here. The point is, there are plenty of great games on the Vita, and more are coming. Anyone who tells you that the Vita “has no good games” is either a fanboy, uninformed, or willfully ignorant.
Show this to anyone who says that the Vita has no good games.
Problems:
The Vita is a great system, and it has some terrific games, but it isn’t perfect. The biggest problem with the system is the cost. The system alone is $250 ($300 for the 3G version). In addition, the system is barely functional without a memory card. Sony, in their wisdom, decided that memory cards would be proprietary and expensive—you’re looking at spending at least $30 for a small, 8 GB memory card. Don’t forget that you’ll want a case to protect the screen, too—this is not a clamshell design! Digital distribution is neat, but the discount for digital games is negligible at best. The whole set up, from the initial purchase to the accessories to the games, feels like it is designed to bleed you dry, and that isn’t a good way to build a consumer base.

The team BiteYourConsole is back in the evening releasing the new version of Bite with support in the realization of homebrew.
In this new version there are two good news, we have added the possibility to create backup with the new method remaster and the second novelty, we can, through steps dictated by Bite, convert PSP homebrew to run them on the PS3.
Interacting with Bite is simple, we can directly use the PSP console, the console because every button has its own function.
Bite Functions:
•Down Arrow and Up Arrow: Opens and closes the console, is used for the construction of homebrew.
•Left Arrow and Right Arrow: Opens or closes the help function.
•Home button: Returns to the menu selection.
•Volume function keys: Use the plus and minus buttons can decrease or increase the volume (if you load an mp3 file).
•Circle button: Opens the folder where installed Bite.
•Musical Note: Open the audio file (mp3)
•Select button: Used to upload files cso, iso, eboot.pbp or files pkg.
•Start button: This function is not available.
•The keys angle handpiece squared circle eg: Generic buttons, used for various functions.
Once created, we can decide whether to pick them up files from the folder where they are created, in this case click on the Select button and copy the files so created, or through the transfer ftp server on PS3, the files will be saved in the package and installed with multiman with the bubble function, this function may still have some small bug, we will try to fix in a future release.
In the tools folder we can find a file backup_bat, use it in case some files can become corrupted, you can intervene by pulling back the batch files used by Bite.
Attention: For proper operation of Bite do not change the installation directory, in the version No Setup Bite extract the folder into the directory 'C: \ Program Files'.

Former CEO of Electronic Arts sees a bright future for consoles, provided Sony and Microsoft get four key things right
Despite recent disruption in the gaming industry, former Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello thinks the next-gen consoles can excel even in a world of smartphones and tablets. In a guest column on Kotakutoday, Riccitiello laid out what he sees as four potential stumbling blocks that, if avoided, will guarantee next-gen success for Microsoft and Sony.
Ricitiello's first point of emphasis was that the systems need to be aimed squarely at gamers. To reach the core audience, the new consoles shouldn't be positioned as all-in-one multimedia boxes.
"The risk is that either or both of the new platforms emphasize these 'value-add' experiences too much, both in the user interface on the consoles themselves, or in the story they tell consumers when they unleash their avalanche of advertising," Riccitiello said.
The second and third points were more about not repeating the mistakes of previous console launches. Specifically, Riccitiello said supply chains need to be improved such that anyone who wants a new console at launch can find one on shelves, and the end product needs to be priced low enough that consumers will snatch up all the systems produced.
Finally, Riccitiello said Microsoft and Sony need to tread lightly around "third-rail topics" like DRM and second-hand game sales. In his view, the solution is to make the console ecosystem more open, and less of a walled garden. If they play their cards right, Microsoft and Sony will actually find gamers will "learn to love" more connected console experiences, Riccitiello said.
"It needs to be simple, seamless and without a bunch of headaches with multiple registration, identity and pay gates," Riccitiello said. "The walled garden will fall eventually."

The Sony Entertainment Network, which is already live in the US and Brazil among other countries, will launch in Japan on May 29th. As you may recall, the service is a browser-based marketplace with games, movies and other media available for download. SEN is especially targeted at PlayStation users; games and videos purchased will automatically show up in the PlayStation store. Given that Sony calls the Land of the Rising Sun home, it's high time its Entertainment Network opened its doors to Japan. And with E3 less than a month away, the world may get a taste of Sony's next-gen hardware for enjoying this service -- stay tuned.

Former EA CEO John Riccitiello has said Microsoft and Sony need to 'avoid alarming DRM schemes' with their new consoles, and focus on gaming over multimedia services.
In a guest post on Kotaku, Riccitiello discussed how he thinks Sony and Microsoft should approach the next-gen console transition, outlining his concerns with DRM, supply, pricing and overemphasis of multimedia functionality."Some gamers fear the new consoles could be more about a DRM-walled garden than about enabling new types of connected gameplay," he said, likely in relation to the persistent and much-debated 'always-online' next Xbox rumour.
"I don't believe consoles managed as walled-gardens will succeed longer term," said Riccitiello, adding that consoles should feature increased connectivity in intuitive ways.
"It needs to be simple, seamless and without a bunch of headaches with multiple registration, identity and pay gates. The walled garden will fall eventually. At launch, Sony and Microsoft must avoid putting up new and alarming DRM schemes, and focus on enabling the cool new game experiences that seamlessly connected consoles allow," he said.
Riccitiello said the platform holders need to "invest to make sure there are enough of the new consoles out there" for launch, and that "getting the price right is a very important part of the equation."
Also important is the need to focus on impressing 'core' gamers, argues Riccitiello. Microsoft in particular has placed increased emphasis on multimedia content delivery on Xbox 360 in recent years, with many expecting a similar approach for its next console, but Riccitiello believes both MS and Sony should focus on gaming.
"I certainly see the temptation to emphasize all sorts of experiences that these boxes might bring to the living room. These new machines can do a lot," he said. "The risk is that either or both of the new platforms emphasize these 'value-add' experiences too much, both in the user interface on the consoles themselves, or in the story they tell consumers when they unleash their avalanche of advertising."
All will be revealed tomorrow, May 21, at Microsoft's next Xbox reveal event.
Riccitiello resigned from EA on March 30, replaced in the short term by Larry Probst, who will stand in as Executive Chairman.

Microsoft's next-gen console unveiling sparks year-high share price jump at rival
Shares in Sony have spiked nearly ten per cent on the back of Microsoft's Xbox One reveal.
As listed on the NasDaq, shares are currently priced at $22.77, up from the previous close of $20.97.
The jump also represents figures at a year-high for Sony Corporation before close, reaching as high as $22.98.
The jump would appears to show that the market currently has more confidence in the PS4 than it does in the Xbox One, shortly after the latter console's reveal.
After the reveal, Microsoft shares went down slightly by 0.47 per cent, although small moves can be quite a common occurrence on the stock market.

John Riccitiello on how Sony and Microsoft can revitalise the console industry
Next-gen consoles must be connected experiences, priced competitively, made readily available and have a core focus on games, says former EA CEO John Riccitiello.
In an editorial on Kotaku, Riccitiello outlined four potential pitfalls Sony and Microsoft could fall into with the next Xbox and PS4 if not played right.
He explained that if not done properly, the next generation of consoles would be met with a yawn rather than a cheer.
The first issue manufacturers must look out for is making sure the hardware is focused mainly on games.
He said although there was an obvious temptation to promote the next Xbox and PS4 as entertainment experiences, Sony and Microsoft should be careful not to confuse their core market.

Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg has hit back at critics that claim the Call of Duty series is past its peak.
At a special event that revealed the next game in the series – Call of Duty Ghosts – Hirshberg praised the franchises’ development teams, describing the process of building a new Call of Duty “the hardest creative assignment of them all.”
“Sometimes people like to write the story and ask the question: ‘How long can Call of Duty last?’” he said.
“Sometimes people have suggested that this franchise is cresting or has crested. And I know it seems like it should. But there’s just one problem. It’s not. In fact, by just about every measure we look at, Call of Duty has never been stronger. This franchise is not only still vibrant, it is still growing.
"Sales of the game, sales of the downloadable content, number of monthly active users, the number of daily active users, average play, social media influence, whatever you look at, hard measures or soft measures, this is a franchise that is still on the rise after all this time.
“That’s remarkable. Keeping Call of Duty relevant, growing, thriving and still surprising people is not easy. In fact, it might actually be the hardest creative assignment of them all. We are all attracted to the blank page, the creative opportunities where there are no restrictions, but a franchise like Call of Duty has more responsibility to its fans.
"And then to keep coming up with new and meaningful ways to innovate each and every time, to keep it fresh and exciting. I think our teams have done that better than anyone.”
Call of Duty: Ghosts is due on current and next generation platforms and hits shelves on November 5th.
For more on Call of Duty: Ghosts, make sure to read this Friday’s edition of MCV.

Former EA boss John Riccitiello believes that PS4 and the new Xbox will both be commercial successes.
“I can’t keep track of the number of people who have told me they don’t believe the new consoles, long rumoured to be coming from both Microsoft and Sony this fall, will succeed,” he wrote in a lengthy editorial on Kotaku.
“Almost everyone says they see games on smart phones and tablets taking over the game biz. They see the multi-year decline of console software at retail, as reported by NPD, and they think the console gaming is done.
“[But] console gaming is very different. I don’t have the fastest thumbs, so playing with any skill at all requires my focus. I am fully engaged. The room with the biggest TV is the most important entertainment room in my house. And there, console gaming rules. In the room where the entertainment stakes are the highest, console gaming wins.
“I believe that console gaming is going to explode on the scene of consumer electronics with this next generation of consoles.”
However, Riccitiello adds that there is certainly potential for both machines to fall short of expectations if they fail to deliver on key points demanded by the market.
“Sony and Microsoft absolutely need to deliver new boxes that really impress us,” he added. “They need to deliver platforms that enable game experiences that are not possible on current consoles.
“None of us has seen the future. But based on everything I know and what I have seen, most everything is pretty much in place to put console gaming front-and-centre again. I see 2013 as the year that brings gaming pizzazz back to the living room, where it all really started.”
Specifically, Riccitiello has identified four hurdles that both companies will need to successfully jump if they wish to succeed.
“The first and most obvious of these pitfalls is if Sony or Microsoft forgets who brought them to the dance in the first place. Gamers,” he insisted. “The risk is that either or both of the new platforms emphasise ‘value-add’ experiences too much, both in the user interface on the consoles themselves, or in the story they tell consumers when they unleash their avalanche of advertising.
“A second potential pitfall has to do with supply. Consumers today have gotten used to getting what they want, and getting it immediately. The window of time to establish a new world order in consumer electronics is no longer measured in multiple years, as it was in the early 2000’s. Today, it is measured in a year, if not a handful of months.
“The third issue is price. Last time out, Sony priced their fully-featured PS3 at $599. This made some sense with a launch hampered by a lack of supply. It won’t make sense, either for Sony or Microsoft. Not if they decide to invest in enough supply to really compete for consumer attention in a world used to new hot products from companies like Apple and Samsung selling 5 and 10 million in the first month.
“The fourth issue involves how they handle a few third-rail topics. The question of the always-on connection is one that causes some gamers’ blood to boil.
“Some gamers fear the new consoles could be more about a DRM-walled garden than about enabling new types of connected gameplay. More about squashing pre-owned games than allowing us to play the games we own at our friends houses, in dorms or at home, without having to bring the disk with us. I don’t believe consoles managed as walled-gardens will succeed longer term.”

EA CFO confirms hoops sim series will arrive for new platforms this fiscal year
Electronic Arts
ea.com
Electronic Arts' next generation of NBA Live games will begin on the next generation of consoles. In a presentation at the Stifel Nicolaus 2013 Internet, Media, & Communications conference today, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said the publisher's fiscal year projections includes contribution from a new NBA game on the next-gen systems.
Jorgensen talked about the company's fiscal year sales projection of $3.5 billion, down from nearly $3.8 billion it recorded for the year ended March 31. The CFO said that figure was reached based on a few assumptions, among them that Battlefield 4 sales will live up to those of Battlefield 3 in 2011. Despite the arrival of its NBA series--and other sports titles--on next-gen systems, EA is expecting its sports lineup to perform far better on the current-gen systems. Sports games, he explained, typically sell in the fall period when the NFL, NHL, and NBA start their seasons, and the next-gen systems aren't expected to launch until later in the holiday period.
Jorgensen also addressed the length of console generations going forward. The current generation has been extended by a number of factors, he said, including a huge boost in development costs and "a pretty ugly recession." Development for the next-generation systems is not expected to have the same leap in costs, he said, which might make for a shorter generation ahead of the industry. However, he added, "The reality is the boxes are becoming more of an appliance and much of the services associated with that will evolve over time."
The NBA Live franchise has been dormant since 2009's NBA Live 10. EA tried to reboot the series as NBA Elite the following year, but delayed and then cancelled that effort. It tried to get back in the game last year with NBA Live 13, but again cancelled that title when it wasn't shaping up to be ready for the season's tip-off.

Video offerings through the PlayStation Store should be getting a bit of an upgrade soon. But, before rolling out a brand new streaming tech to the entire catalog, Sony is beta testing the faster and more adaptive format with select discounted titles. Though the company is being a bit tight-lipped about what exactly the new tech entails, it's letting anyone who wants to take part in the trial period. Simply log into the store, scroll down to movies and you should see the "beta" section right on the front page. Movies in here will be delivered at a steep discount as a thank you for helping Sony put the more efficient format through its paces. HD films will set you back $1.99, while SD videos are just $0.99. Let us know in the comments if you notice any discernible differences.

Sony Australia parters with AIE to bring Vita devkits to classrooms
Six PlayStation Vita devkits will be provided to the Academy of Interactive Entertainment through a partnership with Sony Australia.
This is part of the PlayStation First initiative, which seeks to get up and coming developers experience working with Sony's gaming platforms by providing developer resources to educational programs.
The AIE is the first school to partner with Sony for the new initiative, which also provides licenses for academic development including PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation Mobile, and software agreements for PlayStation Move.
As reported by Gamespot, AIE will incorporate development for PlayStation devices into its syllabus in return for the resources donated to the school.
"The opportunity to work with the PlayStation suite of platforms ensures our students are getting industry relevant skills to step confidently into the video game development sector,” said AIE's director of business development and marketing Neil Boyd.

The president of global games retailer GameStop has played down fears that Xbox One will curtail the pre-owned market.
“Both Sony and Microsoft have said games can be resold and that’s exactly what we anticipated,” Bartel told Forbes. “It’s a recognized way to make these games more affordable. All three new platforms understand that.
“We anticipate millions of gamers will sign up for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox 360 by the time we start taking reservations. There’s a tremendous consumer demand for next gen consoles and I think the Xbox One reveal will just build on that.”
Bartel added that “GameStop puts $1bn in trade into the market and 70% of that money goes back into new game sales”.
None of which even acknowledges that fact that huge question marks hang over the pre-owned market not only for Xbox One but also for PS4.
The truth is that we’re none the wiser as to Microsoft’s pre-owned plans for Xbox One than we were before the machine itself was announced last night. Yes, pre-owned games will be functional on the machine. Will players have to pay a fee to access them?
And don’t forget the PS4, either, over which similar uncertainties abound.
Bartel risks seriously unsettling investors if it turns out his confidence was ill-judged. Unless, of course, he knows something that the rest of us don’t. In which case we’d absolutely love to know.

Best of PlayStation Network Vol. 1, the first in a series of "Best of" releases according to theannouncement, includes When Vikings Attack, Sound Shapes, Tokyo Jungle andFat Princess.
No word on when Vol. 2 will follow or what games will be included with it, but for the time being this seems like a pretty legit way to save "nearly $15." Folks interested in internetless PlayStation Networking might also want to check outJourney's Collector's Edition, which is also a collection of acclaimed PSN games on physical caveman media for cavemen.

The Vita and iOS devices are set to receive a new dose of horror courtesy ofDying: Sinner Escape. The game is being made with help from the creator of Saw, according to developer Nekcom Entertainment, though the announcement neglects to name exactly which creator it's referring to. Neither Saw's director, James Wan, nor its screenwriter, Leigh Whannell, are mentioned specifically.
Regardless, Dying clearly has a Saw vibe. It's story revolves around characters being trapped in foreboding environments, forcing them to solve strange puzzles and try to escape. The game will be released episodically with the first episode, "Last Hour," slated to arrive on May 25.

Cube Runner Advanced is a lot harder then the Cube Runner users remembered when PSP Developer Stinkee2 was updating this. Stinkee2 is the original developer of this Homebrew, but since it was a little bit too easy, Zix though it might need some improvement in difficulty. Zix also worked on other projects like the menu in Mario Kart PSP.
The goal of the game is to guide your cube through a field full of other cubes without crashing into them. Remember this is a much harder version than the first so you’ll have to be a quick thinker and have a fast hand. So just like the original version, but harder.
The previous version (1.2) added 10 new levels, but this version has another 10 new levels added to the Homebrew. So now you can enjoy 20 new levels if you still have the original Homebrew. If this is playable on every exploit of the PS Vita isn't sure yet but we will keep you posted. It is playable on TN-V, but the game is not yet tested on the vHBL yet.

Racer coming to PS4 and Xbox One later this year
EA's newest studio Ghost Games is developing Need for Speed Rivals for the Xbox One and PS4.
Built in partnership with UK developer Criterion using the Frostbite 3 game engine, the new action/racing title will be set in an "open road environment" that challenges players to outrun police as they race or bust other drivers on the run.
A new AllDrive feature has been added to the game to allow users to "seamlessly" transition from single player to multiplayer.
Need for Speed Rivals is also being developed for PS3 and Xbox 360, and will be released on November 19th.
Launch dates for the Xbox One and PS4 versions have been set for "later this year".

Publisher will keep on developing titles for current-gen consoles until at least 2017
Publisher EA has reassured Xbox 360 and PS3 owners that it will continue to support the consoles.
Speaking at the Stifel 2013 Technology Conference, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said that it will continue to develop and release titles for both machines until at least 2017, according toGameSpot.
Of course, it’s not unknown for a publisher to change its mind should sales dip more than expected, but with a large and active install base still supporting both machines its entirely possible they could live on.
Much, of course, will depend on the hunger with which gamers adopt new platforms like PS4 and Xbox One.
EA games such as Battlefield 4 and FIFA 14 are currently in development for both machines. There’s talk of a new Need for Speed being announced today, too, and you can also expect a current gen release for that.

Executives consider dividing company's entertainment assets for new IPO
Sony is considering a proposal by billionaire Daniel Loeb to spin off its entertainment assets, says Chief Executive Officer Kazuo Hirai.
According to Bloomberg, the proposoal would partially divide the company's more valuable portions for the purpose of offering a new, more valuable IPO.
“It’s only a start,” said Sony CEO Kazuo Hirai.
“It’s important that the board will discuss this and come to a decision that represents Sony’s stance.”
This is just a week after the company said the assets weren't for sale.

When a TV, movie or games series is a big deal, it deserves, no, demands a limited-edition box set, preferably including either artwork or an article of clothing -- something that shows your commitment to the cause. Fortunately, Rockstar's decided to prep two different collector editions for Grand Theft Auto 5 players. The $80 version will include the physical game, artbook, and a blueprint map, alongside in-game ability boosts, stunt plane trials, bonus outfits and weapons. Dial the price up to $150, and you'll also get a branded security deposit bag, logo key, cap and even more extra content in-game. Those who decide to preorder the standard version of GTA 5 will get the keys to an Atomic Blimp bonus vehicle when all the editions land on September 17.

We still haven't actually touched the redesigned DualShock 4 destined to ship with Sony's PlayStation 4, but we're getting another look at it in this FCC filing. Appearing in wireframe form to show off where its FCC label will be placed, what's available reveals very little. As we were told, it's still a Bluetooth 2.1+EDR device and carries a CUH-ZCT1U model number, and its PS Eye-compatible light bar can be seen in the diagram. Of course, what we're really waiting to see is the system that will accompany this remote control and do battle with the Xbox One for console supremacy, but barring a leak or unexpected revelation that will have to wait until E3. Hit the source link to check out the docs yourself, or get a better angle on it in our galleries below.

Epic Mickey 2 will make its portable debut on Vita in US on June 18, Sony has confirmed.
June 18 falls on a Tuesday - typical to US PS Store updates - indicating a possible UK release on June 19, although that's yet to be confirmed. The sequel to the Wii exclusiveEpic Mickey was released last November on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and Wii.
The Vita version, announced in March, will contain new features that take advantage of the handheld's hardware. "You'll be able to control paint, thinner and Oswald's electric beam using the touch screen, as well as use orientation-based controls for both the camera and while driving," explains SCEA's Don Mesa.
Touch screen controls are also used to "give instructions to AI, select/drag/drop sketches, burst bubbles and projectiles, and navigate all menus".
Junction Point, the studio founded by Warren Spector and developer of the Epic Mickey games, was closed in January, with parent company Disney Interactive claiming the decision was made in order to "align resources against our key priorities".

Developer Housemarque has confirmed its working on two new games for PlayStation 4, one of which is a 'spiritual successor' to the Super Stardust series.
Super Stardust started life as a 1994 Amiga release, but will be more commonly recognised today for Super Stardust HD, the top-down shooter that released on PS3 in 2007.Housemarque, which also developed Dead Nation and Outland, promises that the as yet unnamed successor will take advantage of the PS4 hardware to create "incredible visuals with direct impact on the way the new game feels".
Housemarque's CEO Ilari Kuittinen said, "We are super excited to be working on Sony's next-gen hardware. The platform's performances are enabling us to do things that wouldn't be possible otherwise and we truly believe that better technology can lead to better gameplay."
He went on, "Think of Super Stardust HD: at the time, PlayStation 3 gave us the opportunity to populate the game with thousands of interactive objects and implement the game's famous 'spherical gameplay'. Today, we can take advantage of the architecture of PlayStation 4 to create incredible visuals with direct impact on the way the new game feels."
The announcement offered no further information on the developer's second PS4 title, only promising more information on both games "in the upcoming months".
Sony revealed the PS4 at an event in February, confirming a 'Holiday 2013' launch. It will lock horns with Microsoft's Xbox One, revealed Tuesday for launch 'later this year'.

The Warriors, Rockstar's 2005 game based on the 1979 cult movie, is coming to PSN next week. As per typical PS Store updates, it arrives in North America on May 28 for $9.99, and then in Europe the day after for £7.99/€9.99.
Rockstar Toronto reportedly worked on a spiritual successor to The Warriors,an Xbox 360 game called We Are The Mods. According to CVG, it was similar in style to The Warriors' urban brawling, but set in mid-1960s England, during the Mods and Rockers era.
Since that never came to fruition, the closest you're going to get to a current-gen Warriors game, outside of CTXM's The Warriors: Street Brawl, is next week's re-release. Like all PS2 Classics on PSN, it's only playable on PS3.

Sony has cut the predicted profit margins on its PlayStation business for the year to March 2015 by six per cent.
It had expected to make profits of eight per cent but has reduced that to just two per cent.
The hardware maker is still aiming for sales of one trillion yen for its games division, as it increases its focus on digital sales through the PlayStation Store and pushes marketing and discounts for the Vita handheld.
“In particular, the company will seek to grow sales of content and services through PlayStation Store and contribute to profit. For PlayStation Vita, the company will aim to secure further sales and profit through various hardware sales initiatives and the introduction of compelling software titles,” said Sony in a statement.
Sony’s PlayStation 4 is expected to launch later this year, but said it’s not concentrating on that part of its business until the following financial year, which ends March 2016.

A Sony ad for the PS4 in today’s issue of UK newspaper, the Metro, confirms a 2013 release for the machine.
The ad, pictured by Future’s James Jarvis, carries a simple “Coming 2013” line at the bottom.
Until now all signs had pointed to Sony being very, very keen on getting the console out in both Europe and America by the end of the year. This seems to serve as confirmation.

Sony has moved to explain why Gran Turismo 6 is releasing on PS3 and not PS4 later this year.
PlayStation Europe boss Jim Ryan told the PS Blog: "You had GT1 and GT2 on PS one, GT3 and GT4 on PS2, then there's GT5 on PS3 and a space next to it."The difference between Gran Turismo and GT2 is unbelievable, but they're both on the same platform. The difference between GT3 and GT4 is huge. We're absolutely confident when GT6 comes, you'll see a big step change up from GT5 too. There's still a lot of potential on PS3 that a developer like Polyphony can really exploit.
"And the other factor is that on PS3 we have an install base of 70 million units. On PS4 on launch day we'll have an install base of zero units. There'll be plenty of games to help drive PS4 - not least Drive Club in the racing genre from Evolution Studios, a studio with a fantastic pedigree."
Speaking earlier this month at the Gran Turismo 6 reveal event, series creator and Polyphony Digital CEO Kazunori Yamauchi said: "We actually do have a PlayStation 4 version in mind, but for this holiday season, we thought it would be best for users to release on PS3 for now."
Seemingly moving to settle any premature excitement, however, Yamauchi added: "I thought the best scenario would be to have the game come out, then to have new scenarios, new DLC and other updates. Once the players have thoroughly played out the system, if the PlayStation 4 version came out naturally, as part of that process, I think that would be the best scenario."
The original Gran Turismo launched in Japan in December 1997 before releasing globally the following year. Gran Turismo is Sony's best-selling franchise to date with unit sales of 70 million, almost half of which have been made in Europe.

Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are a generation more powerful than today's high-end PCs, according to an Electronic Arts exec.
Writing on LinkedIn, EA chief technology officer Rajat Teneja noted that the horsepower of current high-end PCs will be dwarved by Sony and Microsoft's next-gen consoles."Both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 have adopted electronics and an integrated systems-on-a-chip (soc) architecture that unleashes magnitudes more compute and graphics power than the current generation of consoles," Teneja wrote.
On the comparison between current and next-gen consoles, Teneja believes the new consoles will perform 8-10 times better than the PS3 and Xbox 360.
"These architectures are a generation ahead of the highest end PC on the market and their unique design of the hardware, the underlying operating system and the live service layer create one of the most compelling platforms to reimagine game mechanics."
Similarly, Avalanche Studios CTO Linus Blomberg said in March that the PlayStation 4's 8gb RAM will ensure it will "out-power most PCs for years to come."
Xbox One was this week unveiled at an event in Washington. Read all about it at our Xbox One information hub.

Sucker Punch uses real-life extras to populate the city of Seattle in Infamous: Second Son – developers recruited 75 friends, family members and professionals over three days to sit in front of a complex camera installment, absolutely still, while the lenses strobed out layers of their faces. With friends like Sucker Punch, who needs seizure medication? Everyone, probably.
There's a visual breakdown of Sucker Punch's scanning process on Game Informer. Or, if you're patient, just buy an Xbox One later this year and sit really still in front of that always-on Kinect camera – and maybe you'll spot your own fine face in a next-gen crowd. (You probably won't. We hope.)

Lego Marvel Super Heroes will feature Venom and the Human Torch when the game launches this fall for Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii U, Vita and 3DS. TT Games Producer Phil Ring announced the character additions at MCM Comic Con in the UK, according to a series of tweets from TT Games employees.
Lego Marvel Super Heroes has an original storyline starring Nick Fury, Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Spider-Man, Wolverine and others, all battling Loki and Galactus, and all in Lego form. The game stars over 100 unlockable characters from the Marvel universe, so staples such as Venom and the Human Torch are just the beginning.

Class of Heroes 2, MonkeyPaw's PSP game from 2009, is finally coming to North America on June 4. PSN users can snag the fully localized JRPG dungeon crawler – which is playable on both PSP and PS Vita – for $25 from the PSN store.
The effort to localize Class of Heroes 2 began in 2012 with a Kickstarter campaign seeking $500,000 in funding. Ultimately, only $96,951 was raised, though MonkeyPaw CEO John Greiner wasn't too down in a follow-up interview with Joystiq.
Greiner said that even though the Kickstarter campaign failed, "we were able to educate people about the game and its features. That will help immensely when we release the digital version."

Sony's PlayStation 4 will feature similar DRM for used game purchases to Xbox One, according to a report.
Sony has been less vocal on the matter than Microsoft, allowing the latter firm to draw much of flak on the controversial topic since its May 21 Xbox One reveal.Geoff Keighley on Gametrailers claims to have 'heard' that Sony is likely to enforce similar used game policies to its rival.
"Sony has sort of been seen as this kind of white knight so far that's not going to restrict used games. Based on some of the things I'm hearing, I don't think that's entirely true, because I can't see publishers allowing one system to do one thing and one the other."
Microsoft has confirmed that all Xbox One games will require mandatory installation onto the system's hard drive and, to install the same disc onto another user's drive, a fee must be paid.
But several statements from multiple Microsoft reps have failed to rectify ongoing confusion - and outrage - over the use of second-hand games on the console.
Reports claim that a new system will be put into place that sees revenues taken at retail for used game sales shared between Microsoft, the retailer and the game's publisher. If true, this system wouldn't govern the private sale of used games, in which case it appears a used game activation fee will be applied.
Microsoft has moved to dismiss reports surrounding Xbox One's used games policies as "inaccurate and incomplete", adding that its yet to finalize its policies on the matter. "Xbox One is designed to support the trade in and resale of games," it assured gamers, however.
Sony has escaped much of the controversy despite having not confirmed its policies for used games on PS4, other than to say that it won't block second-hand game use.
When pushed on the issue in an interview with CVG, Sony's VP of Worldwide Studios Michael Denny would only acknowledge that the firmwould do what it sees as "the right thing" by both consumers and the development community.

PPSSPP Git (2013/05/27) is compiled. PPSSPP is a fast and portable PSP emulator for Android, Windows, Mac, and Linux, written in C++.
PPSSPP Git Changelog:
* Merge pull request #1950 from mgaver/patch-5
Make on screen messages translatable
* Update EmuScreen.cpp
use shorten keys.
* Make on screen messages translatable
* Merge pull request #1949 from oioitff/atrac-fix
Build fix, sorry.
* Build fix, sorry.
* Merge pull request #1948 from jeid3/master
Build iOS fix
* Build ios fix
* Merge pull request #1947 from oioitff/atrac-fix
Implement low level atrac3 decoder.
* Implement low level atrac3 decoder.
* Merge pull request #1936 from unknownbrackets/texcache
Improve CLUT load performance, tweak hashing
* Don't bypass the secondary cache on minihash fail.
* Allow ConvertColors() to work as a copy op.
* Switch to a weaker, but faster clut hash.
* Make sure to update the CLUT if format changes.
Otherwise we throw away the loaded clut, which is no good.
* Don't hash the clut when it's not even used.
Many games load the clut even when it wasn't changed, and we don't flush
between when this happens. There shouldn't be any need to rehash the clut
either.
Technically, the clut could have actually changed, but this would
generally require them to clear the dcache or something in a way the GE
probably doesn't support.
* Fix a typo.
* Merge pull request #1945 from unknownbrackets/perf
Rewrite BlockAllocator in attempt to free memory faster
* Avoid a double lookup in FreeExact().
* Rewrite BlockAllocator in attempt to free faster.
And more importantly try to find that weird heap corruption, but no
luck...
* Merge pull request #1940 from unknownbrackets/mpeg-fix
Fix videos that never end
* Since we don't use readlength yet, don't add it.
This would actually go negative often enough, making us consume packets
more slowly than we should, or even never finish consuming. 4 is probably
too small, though.
* Merge pull request #1938 from unknownbrackets/symbol-map
Symbol map fixes
* Clear the debug symbol map on shutdown.
Instead of polluting the next game.
* Correctly detect bltzal as func calls in debug.
* Improve perf when loading a large debug map file.
* Merge pull request #1944 from unknownbrackets/reporting
Add reporting for branch in delay slot and cwd thing
* Add reporting for jumps in delay slots.
* Add some reporting in filesystem related code.
* Buildfix for Mac / iOS.
* Merge pull request #1937 from unknownbrackets/windows-ui
Fix cursor reset and pop ups in fullscreen
* Hide pop up windows in full screen.
Otherwise, they get in the way even though you can't see them.
* Show/hide the cursor correctly.
It uses a counter, so we may need to call it more than once.
* Merge pull request #1935 from unknownbrackets/modules
Get sceKernelStopModule() sorta working
* Remove comment.
* Initial implementation of sceKernelStopModule().
Not perfect but should be functional.
* Add a wait type for modules to handle return right.
* Get rid of the "root" return hack.
* Use a custom RA for module funcs. Not used yet.
But it will be.
* Wrap sceKernelGetThreadExitStatus().
So it's usable internally too.
* Merge pull request #1933 from Motaz-Alnuweiri/patch-2
Update PPSSPP.pro
* Update PPSSPP.pro
Hi, you can use "VERSION" Variable
----------------------------------
VERSION
This variable contains the version number of the application or library if either the app TEMPLATE or the lib TEMPLATE is specified.
* Merge pull request #1929 from Motaz-Alnuweiri/patch-1
Update PPSSPP.pro
* Update PPSSPP.pro
Hello, I changed PPSSPPQt version for Symbian from 0.7.5 to 0.7.6
* Turn off the use of uniform arrays in shaders as some devices don't like them, and the speedup seems to be very small if any.
* Merge pull request #1927 from unknownbrackets/scheduling2
Implement suspend/resume HLE for threads
* Disallow suspend/resume on current thread.
Might be some extra subtle things with callbacks/interrupts here...
* Initial attempt at a suspend/resume thread impl.
* Make sure we keep the suspend state around.
I assume it sticks around in this case.
* Merge pull request #1924 from unknownbrackets/scheduling
Fix sceKernelWakeupThread
* Return the moduleId in sceKernelUnloadModule().
Final Fantasy 4 very clearly requires this.
* Report unfinished code in sceKernelAllocateTls().
* Wrap the sleep/wakeup HLE funcs.
* Properly return success in sceKernelWakeupThread().
Fixes #1596, fixes #1796, possibly others. I can't believe how long
I stared at this code and debugged it without noticing such a simple
thing...
* Merge pull request #1923 from unknownbrackets/rtc-fix
Implement the sceRtc*Win32FileTime() funcs
* Remove UNIMPL from FileTime funcs, they work now.
* Implement the sceRtc*Win32FileTime() funcs.
* Merge pull request #1911 from aquanull/language
Make more menu screen items translatable, and...
* Make it possible to translate error screens.
* Tweak some menu screen items.
* Make more menu screen items translatable.
Update font atlas files.

PCSX2 gsdx-ogl-wnd SVN r5644 is released. PCSX2 gsdx-ogl-wnd is a branch of PCSX2. PCSX2 is an open source PlayStation 2 (PS2) emulator for the Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems. With the most recent versions, many PS2 games are playable (although speed limitations have made play-to-completion tests for many games impractical), and several games are claimed to have full functionality.
PCSX2 gsdx-ogl-wnd SVN Changelog:
r5644
gsdx-ogl-wnd:
* fix a bad interaction when GL_ARB_SSO is supported without GL_ARB_shading_language_420pack
* try to replace struct with flat parameter in glsl interface
=> with some hacks of the free driver, I was able to compile SW renderer shader. Unfortunately
the rendering is broken. Maybe my hack
* remove EGL context check (wasn't working as expected)

Consumers bombard Sony execs with messages on Twitter to avoid Xbox One policies
PlayStation fans are are calling on Sony to shun DRM and a pre-owned games block in the upcoming PS4.
Tagged over Twitter as #PS4NoDRM and #PS4USEDGAMES, consumers have posted a plethora of messages to Sony executives pleading with them not to implement usage restrictions on the PS4.
Fans were sparked into action the social network and other sites such as NeoGaf and Reddit amidst reports that Sony may enact similar restrictions on the PS4 as those seemingly implemented by Microsoft for the Xbox One.
Confusion currently surrounds some of Mircrosoft’s DRM policies, with the company being vague and issuing contradictory statements over claims that users will be required to go online at least once per day to run the Xbox One, and that each game will come with an activation code tied to an individual’s Xbox Live account. This would mean second-hand owners can’t play the game without first paying a fee.
US journalist Geoff Keighley recently claimed on GameTrailers that he had heard Sony was also likely to enforce some form of used game restrictions, and that he “can’t see publishers allowing one system to do one thing and one the other”.

A trio of Sony execs have reacted positively to the #PS4NoDRM campaign.
As reported by MCV earlier, consumers are taking it upon themselves to try and obtain some specific confirmation from Sony regarding its intentions for pre-owned games on PS4.
Although MCV understands that Japan’s current strategy is to refrain from releasing official word until E3, the reaction of key execs on Twitter at the very least suggests that its plans will – at least in the eyes of consumers – compare favourably to Microsoft’s.

Sony plans to let Vita owners watch a livestream of its pre-E3 press conference.
Asked whether it will be possible to view the event on Vita, European PlayStation Blog manager Fred Dutton said: "We're finalising plans now, but yes, you will be able to watch the show somewhere, somehow on your Vita."Sony's E3 event kicks off at 6pm Pacific Time on June 10, eight hours after Microsoft's E3 press conference begins.
Sony revealed PS4 in February. It has yet to show off the PS4 console itself, but the company recently teased plans to unveil the hardware at its E3 conference.
The platform holder has confirmed a PS4 release date of "holiday 2013" in at least one of Japan, Europe and the US.
CVG recently reported that Sony has determined Europe a high-priority territory in the next generation sales race and will ensure the PS4 launch is not delayed into 2014.
The first round of European PS4 advertising would appear to back this up, although Sony has played down the significance of a number of adverts stating that PS4 is "coming 2013".

Only games already harnessing the PS4 Eye will be exempt, source claims
PS4 developers must integrate Vita remote play into all of their games, according to a report.
A PS4 developer source “with a proven track record for accuracy” has told Eurogamer that only games that require the use of the PS4 Eye will be exempt from Vita compatibility.
The report said remote play will downscale the 1080p resolution of PS4 games to the Vita’s own native 960x544 display, which is then streamed over WiFi to the Vita.
Although the Vita can be used with the PS3 in a similar way, acting as a controller and second TV at 480p, but many developers have yet to pick up the feature.
The move is likely part of Sony’s attempts to help improve the fortunes of the PS Vita, which has struggled somewhat commercially since its release in February last year in Europe and North America.

Some games are defined by their control schemes. Diablo belongs under the control of a mouse, just as Street Fighter is at home on an arcade stick and Angry Birds is best suited to a touchscreen. When Diablo III debuted for PC and Mac last year, the Edge office was drowned in a cacophony of clicking. Click to move your chosen hero until he’s in position. Click to attack until all the demons are gone, and then click some more to pick up all the shiny loot your fallen foes have left behind. Diablo III, then, is defined by the click of a mouse; if you play it on a gamepad, is it still the same game?Just about. In making the transition to PlayStation 3 – a PS4 version is also planned, though Blizzard’s in no mood to discuss it at present – Diablo III has gained a dodge move, which is mapped to the right stick. While this certainly lends a little grace to proceedings, when combined with the free character movement on the left stick it makes Diablo III feel less like an action-RPG and more like an action game, and one with rather basic combat at that. In fact, with its isometric camera, crumbling ramparts, and hulking demonic bestiary, Diablo III on PS3 feels more like a homage to the God Of War series than the much-requested port of a multimillion-selling PC game that it is.A 15-minute demo isn’t the best way to experience Diablo III, admittedly. The long game lies in the gear management, in kitting out your chosen character with absurdly powerful weapons and armour in order to cut an effortless swathe through the demonic hordes and pick up even more powerful loot. What is clear from the demo is that Blizzard’s made a considerable effort to retool skill and item management for a controller and a big TV screen. The pause screen is home to radial menus for speedy selection of gear and attacks, but tweaks to the game design are focused on having players spend as little time in such menus as possible. There will be fewer but better loot drops than were found in last year’s PC version of the game, for instance. Stand over an item and you’ll be able to see immediately whether it’s worth your time, and you can either equip, collect or discard it with a quick press of a face button.

Gran turismo 5 was famously dogged by delays, but the newly announced GT6 shouldn’t suffer the same fate, says Sony.
The firm is confident Gran Turismo 6 will arrive on time this Christmas.
“There is no reason to think the proposed release window for GT6 will not be achieved,” product manager Josh Walker told MCV.
Eyebrows were raised when it was revealed Gran Turismo 6 was destined for PS3 rather than PS4.
But Sony and Gran Turismo developer Polyphony Digital believe that the racer will prove there’s plenty of life in the current gen console.
“We feel it is important to continue to support our loyal PS3 users, and those from many parts of the world who are new to PS3, with a new title,” he said. “And [series producer] Kazuori Yamauchi was keen to develop the Gran Turismo platform further on PS3.
“Gran Turismo has a huge following among current PS3 gamers. The release also follows a pattern for Gran Turismo – GT and GT2 for PS, GT3 and GT4 for PS2, and now GT5 and GT6 on PS3.”

In their first two years on sale, Ubisoft expects the PS4 and Xbox One to sell double that of their predecessors during their respective launch periods.
Console launches in recent years - including Nintendo's 3DS and Wii U, and Sony's Vita - have suffered slow starts to life. But Ubisoft seemingly expects no such issues with Sony and Microsoft's new high-end machines."As the industry transitions to a new console cycle, past market trends and Ubisoft's internal estimates indicate that within two years the next-gen consoles' installed base could double that of the previous generation over a comparable period," it said in a press release today regarding its E3 lineup, for which it has promised to reveal "exclusive next-generation games".
The firm says it's primed to take full advantage of the major console transition due later this year.
"Ubisoft's cross-studio collaboration structure allowed the company's creative teams to get an early start on the transition, with next-gen games like Watch Dogs already scheduled for release this year and more next-gen titles to be announced during E3," it said.
Company CEO Yves Guillemot added, "This is a pivotal moment for the video game industry, and E3 is the opportunity for us to share our vision for the future.
"We have many incredible games in development, and we're especially excited to share more on our next-gen titles, which will deliver more connected, immersive and interactive experiences to our fans."
Sony announced the PS4 back in February with a launch of 'holiday 2013'.
Xbox One was revealed at an event on May 21, when Microsoft confirmed a launch for 'later this year'.

The tranquil sights and sounds of developer thatgamecompany's cult PSN game, Flower, are making their way to Vita.
The portable version of the game has been let slip by the official list of games set to appear at theIndieCade booth at E3 in June.Flower was the second of three popular games from thatgamecompany released for PS3 via PSN. Like its predecessor flOw, and successor Journey, Flower is more of an audiovisual experience than a video game in the traditional sense.
It sees the player tilt the controller to control the wind, blowing a flower petal near other flowers, causing them to sprout and spread life-giving colour in an initially grey, lifeless landscape.
Starting life as a PS3 exclusive, flOw eventually made its way to PSP, and the revelation of Flower for Vita offers fans of the critically acclaimed Journey hope that it may too go portable in future.
Polygon has the full list of IndieCade E3 titles.

Vivid Games' Real Boxing floats onto PSN this August, ready to sting Vitas worldwide. The Unreal Engine 3 boxing sim was first released back on iOS in November 2012 before punching in on Android earlier this month. Now Vivid Games is sending it into the handheld console ring in a few months time.
"With the exception of the cardiovascular benefits or the threat of actual, physical pain, Real Boxing is exactly that – real boxing," said Vivid Games CEO Remi Koscielny.
The Vita version uses the portable's physical and touch controls, with the iOS version's career mode, training, and fighter customization confirmed for the port. Meanwhile, a screenshot (see below) indicates combatants can get their real box on in multiplayer.

The development team behind Call of Duty Ghosts has more staff than ever, despite losing almost 50 members of staff after a 2010 scandal.
The team that created the Call of Duty and Modern Warfare brands almost collapsed following a dispute with its parent company Activision. Infinity Ward’s founders were fired and many senior staff members walked out, forcing the studio to team-up with another developer – Sledgehammer Games – in order to finish Modern Warfare 3.
“Working with Sledgehammer allowed us to re-grow the studio to full capacity at a pace that made sense to us,” said Infinity Ward executive producer Mark Rubin.
“So it wasn’t a situation where we went out and said ‘we need 50 more guys, go out there on the street and hire them.’ We were actually able to say no to people. We are now a fully-fledged team. We are actually bigger than we have ever been before.”
Infinity Ward hired a number of big names from Hollywood, including CG artists that worked on major movies such as Beowulf. And Rubin says the studio wants to prove itself once again.
“I think we have something to prove on every game,” answers Rubin.
“I started at Infinity Ward back on Call of Duty 2. And that feeling of ‘what we did last was not good enough. We need to do better’ has been there every game that I’ve been a part of.”

Blacklight: Retribution arrived to little in the way of bated breath when it launched in August of 2012. In addition to being a sequel to the unremarkable Blacklight: Tango Down, Retribution was also pitched as a free-to-play competitive multiplayer title in a genre that hasn’t been particularly well suited to the format. Developed by Zombie Studios in Seattle and published by free-to-play MMORPG purveyor Perfect World in Beijing, the FPS achieved only modest success despite a positive critical reception. After negotiating console rights to the title back from Perfect World, however, Zombie now seeks to turn Retribution’s fortunes around. We spoke with the studio’s creative director Jared Gerritzen about finding the game its new home on PlayStation 4.Did Sony approach you to get Blacklight on PlayStation 4?We’ve been talking to Sony off and on since E3 of last year. As the system matured, Sony made it clear that they were looking for content, and we just happened to secure the console rights to Blacklight: Retribution. After discussing it further, our goals were perfectly in line with their goals and it just happened to be right place and right time on both parties. How is Sony working with you on the project, and how has that relationship changed since the PS3 days?Sony has always been a great partner to work with through the years, but with the PS4 they have really made it easier for developers like us. They’ve streamlined the submission process significantly, so getting to the point of working on a game is much quicker and easier. Additionally, getting support such as development kits or technical support has been great. It’s clear that Sony went back and listened to where developers were having problems and are actively trying to resolve those issues and help developers. You’ve mentioned that much of your tech is being redeveloped for PS4 – can you elaborate? We’re working hard on extending Unreal Engine 3 to make the most out of the PS4, including taking advantage of the new rendering pipeline the system has. We’ve been using UE3 for a number of years and it’s a proven performer as a toolset. We’ve also been updating the user interface to benefit playing on a television and using a controller. We want to make it as easy as possible for people to get into a game and start playing.
