I actually have a firmware5.05 ps4 so this is exciting news for me:
It has just got a whole lot more fun and easier to setup your v5.05 PlayStation 4 console to be fully exploitable with the latest goodies!
X-Project (XMB SELF HOST PROJECT) aims to be the AIO customizable tool box for all your payload needs. Something the community can dissect and adapt, improve and contribute to: for the good of everyone!
This project is a joint venture between myself and Leeful and is the evolution and culmination of my now discontinued 4.55 self host packs and leefuls current exploit hosts bundled into something for 5.05 which was far more dynamic than anything I had done before
ADDED MEDIA PLAYER!:
- Drop Down File Selector.
- Plays MP4 only currently (need to work on more formats)
- Play, Pause, Stop, Skip, Restart
- 2 preset resolutions + full screen to suit your TV.
- Dark mode toggle, Mute toggle.
- Playback info (file location, name, time remaining/total time etc)
- Companion BAT for easy alphabetized playlist generation (must run after new files are added to /MEDIA/ folder)
- Just host your MP4 files from /MEDIA/ folder within xproject (easy to customize to share files from elsewhere depending on your host method)
Other Changes:
- Lodash finally fixed thanks to @Leeful
- D-Pad navigation added as requested (L/R works perfectly U/D needs work)
- GTA menus rewritten by @Leeful (now detect hen and load before payload (same goes for BO3/AFR payloads)
- Slight restyle for uniformity thanks to @Leeful

As the PlayStation Vita's twilight years wane on, another anticipated title is opting to skip the handheld altogether. Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will no longer release on Vita, with creator Koji Igarashi citing "Sony's plans to discontinue" it.
In a backer update today in which Igarashi also announced the game's delay across all platforms to 2019, he stated that the decision to abandon Vita was due to the end of production of physical Vita game copies and termination of "certain online store support features."
"Being a huge PlayStation & Sony fan myself, I also know cancelling the Vita version of the game may be disappointing to some of you," Igarashi said, "but with Sony's plans to discontinue the console and physical production of games, removing Vita titles from PS+ lineups etc., it was an unfortunate but necessary decision to make. We really hope you'll continue to support us on one of the other platforms available."
Backers of Bloodstained who selected Vita as their platform of choice will receive an email in the coming week allowing them to either switch their preferred console to another supported platform, or receive a refund.

Newly released for the PSP:
OpenBOR (Open Beats of Rage) is an open source engine to play Beats of Rage. Beats of Rage is a freeware open source video game and modifiable game engine made by Senile Team and inspired by Sega’s classic Streets of Rage series. The term “modifiable” means that the program allows users to create their own content, and thus their own beat-’em-up game, which is then called a “mod”.

Heres some PSVita Hacking News:
Today, PS Vita hacker TheFlow announced that he will soon start working on improvements for his popular hack h-encore. H-encore is a full control (a.k.a kernel) exploit for the PS Vita, that works up to the latest firmware, 3.68 (see here for details).
Specifically, with h-encore 2.0, TheFlow intends to bring the following improvements:
- Faster launch of Henkaku (this will be achieved by not running the bootstrap menu by default)
- Option to fix trophies in the bootstrap menu
- Improving the reliability of the exploit. The hacker says that currently it fails about 20% of the time, which is not a huge problems but means relaunching the hack multiple times for the people who run into issues.
Knowing TheFlow, there are chance he won’t stop to only these features, and add a few more things here and there for the community. Let’s stay tuned.
Additionally, according to the hacker, h-encore is still downloaded more than 1000 times each day, a nice stat for a tool that’s “already” 2 months old!

Heres a port of Duke Nukem 3D for the PSVita:
The PSVita got its own fair share of ports but this one is perhaps the most peculiar one. This is because, unlike other ports, Duke Nukem 3D is officially available for the PSVita but that was pulled off PSN 2 years ago!
EDuke32 is an open-source port of the engine of the all-time classic Duke Nukem 3D.
- Support for hardware accelerated rendering through OpenGL which makes the game look great if you enable the Polymost or Polymer renderer.
- There’s also widescreen support for those of us using screens that aren’t 4:3
- Support for great mods such as HRP (High Resolution Pack) and DukePlus which greatly enhance the game experience
- Fixes for various bugs found in the original code
- Many other features such as the ability to run at high resolutions, multi-platform support and extensions to the game scripting system which allow for great mods

Heres an update on the PS3 Emulator for Windows:
In July, the emulator mostly saw improvements relating to rendering/performance and the GUI. These improvements could be narrowed down to:
- The introduction of Asynchronous Shader Recompilation which greatly reduces stutter in 3D games!
- Improvements to the vertex program decompiler and analyser.
- This not only brought about better performance but it’s also made some games playable.
- Support for the multiple user functionality found on the PS3.
- With this, it’ll be easier to manage your saves if multiple people use the emulator on the same machine.
- Some games, like Terraria, that require multiple users for local multiplayer can now have their MP functionality used.
- GUI design improvements which curiously make the emulator’s GUI look more like Dolphin’s.
- A variety of other additions including further optimisation in the SPU emulation department, many bug fixes and more tested games!

VitaGrafix is a plugin for taiHEN-enabled PSVita and PSTV consoles that lets you remove FPS caps and increase the rendering resolution of some games.
The main features of this plugin are:
- The ability to decrease/increase the framebuffer (the size of the frame you’re being shown on screen) and internal buffer (the resolution that’s being rendered internally) resolution.
- This allows you to make games that render at lower resolutions, like 840×476 in Persona 4’s case, to render at the PSVita’s screen resolution of 960×544. Obviously, this makes games look nicer but battery life may also be impacted.
- Removing FPS caps since some games, like God of War Collection and Killzone Mercenary, limit their framerate to a maximum of 30 FPS. Through this plugin, you can increase the FPS cap variable for a smoother experience.
- A highly customisable way of configuring the plugin so that you can get exactly what you want.
As of this article, VitaGrafix supports 13 titles which are:
- Killzone Mercenary
- Persona 4 Golden – I personally tested this by upping the resolution to 960×544 and I didn’t notice any performance hits or battery life drops!
- WRC 3 and WRC 4
- God Of War CollectionIf you’re a Borderlands 2 fan, this plugin lets you decrease the rendering resolution to 640×368 which could make your experience better!
- MUD – FIM Motocross World Championship
- MXGP: The Official Motocross Videogame
- F1 2011
- LittleBigPlanet
- Borderlands 2 (one of the most laggy games on the system)
- Asphalt Injection
- LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens
- World of Final Fantasy

BStone, by Boris Bendovsky, is a source port for the Blake Stone first-person shooter games that were originally in 1993. The Blake Stone series includes two titles called “Aliens of Gold” and “Planet Strike” which are based on the Wolfenstein 3D engine with some extra features such as interactive map elements and textured floors/ceilings. They were published by Apogee in 1993 and 1994 respectively.
The PSVita version of BStone was ported by developer “01y” and runs on all hacked PSVita consoles. This port has the following features:
- Audio support
- A nicely mapped button configuration that also uses the touch screen for floor and weapon selection
- Menus in 4:3 but the game itself is in 16:9 so you don’t have to deal with black bars on the sides of the screen
- Good performance as “Aliens of Gold” ran quite smoothly for me
- A nice LiveArea screen and icon

TheFlow is known for creating awesome software, such as VitaShell and h-encore, and distributing it for free and now, he’s released three Patreon exclusives to the general public! These exlusives are dual analogue stick plugins for three PSP games namely Kingdom Hearts, Metal Gear Solid and 2 Prince of Persia games!
These patches are here to solve these issues by giving a greater range of camera viewing angles and substituting awkward button mapping for the right analogue stick. As these patches aren’t too hard to do if one understands MIPS (the PSP CPU’s architecture) assembly, a pretty large number of these are available in an all-in-one plugin called Camera Patch Lite. Unfortunately, some games require more tinkering to hack in dual analogue stick support and this is where TheFlow’s plugins come into play!

Xerpi’s USB streaming plugin is called “UDCD_UVC” and allows you to stream your PSVita’s screen over USB. While most may think of HDMI when game console streaming is mentioned, this wasn’t an option for the PSVita as Retail units don’t have an HDMI port. In light of this, Xerpi decided to delve deeper into PSVita modules and decided to start reverse engineering them in order to find an alternative streaming solution.
UDCD_UVC version 4 brought about the following:
- The major issues, such as screen tearing in LiveArea and crashing in many games were fixed!! These may have been caused with some webcam viewers using other formats, that have now been removed from the plugin.
- The slower video formats (MJPEG and YUY2) were removedPersona 4 being streamed to my PC via UDCD_UVC!
- This makes the code smaller, easier to maintain and prevents people from using the above modes which don’t work all too well.
- The video frame transfer function has been optimised to make it faster
- UDCD_UVC’s memory footprint has been reduced which allows RAM-hungry games to run
- Other improvements that make the plugin work better
- Unfortunately, version 4 didn’t bring a much needed name change for this plugin. This plugin seriously needs a better name that’s easier to write and pronounce! Even if it’s something simple like VitaStream, it’s better than the current name

Custom Warning is a user-land plugin, that hooks into SceShell, which lets you customise the epilepsy screen to your liking! If you don’t know what that is, it’s the screen that pops up about a health warning after the PS/Enso logo when you do a cold boot. With almost certainty, it can be said that this screen is useless to almost all PSVita users and many will be glad to customise it.
Thankfully, changing what’s shown on your epilepsy screen is pretty simple as you only need to edit a TXT file to do so. However, you must use Unicode Little Endian when writing in your custom screen or else it won’t work! Furthermore, it’s important you have “FF FE” if you want to show any text at all. If you don’t want any text, you can simply create a blank BOM (Byte Order Mark) file. It must be noted that this will only work with FW 3.60/5 as only they can use Enso!

NoLockScreen is a user-land plugin, which hooks into SceShell, that disables the lockscreen found on the PSVita. The lockscreen is a feature that’s considered to be useless by many as it doesn’t serve much of a purpose. Unlike lockscreens in other operating systems like Android, the PSVita one doesn’t have any quick app launchers, weather information or a search function. Furthermore, it could cause issues when unlocking your device if your touchscreen is a little iffy.
Perhaps the only good use for it is checking the time in a hurry. Now, with this plugin, you’ll be able to get rid of this mostly useless feature and start using your PSVita immediately after you press the power/PS button when the screen is off! It must be noted that there is one instance in which this plugin doesn’t kill the lockscreen and that is when you cold boot your PSVita. However, it’s still possible to bypass it by turning the screen off and on again! UPDATE: An update has been released to address this!

Less than 24 hours ago, TheFlow tweeted out about his work regarding a DualShock 3/4 plugin for the PSVita and support for local multiplayer in PS1 games when running on the PSVita via Adrenaline. Apparently, for TheFlow ‘soon’ means less than 24 hours and low and behold, he’s released MiniVitaTV and Adrenaline 6.7!
MiniVitaTV is the plugin that TheFlow mentioned yesterday on Twitter. This plugin uses the DualShock 3/4 driver found in official PSTV firmware and as a result you can:
- Connect up to 4 DualShock 3/DualShock 4 controllers to your PSVita. You can use any configuration you want as DualShock 3 and 4 controllers can work together at the same time.
- Play games that support local multiplayer on your PSVita provided you have enough controllers! Examples of games that support local multiplayer on the PSTV (and now the PSVita thanks to this plugin) are Metal Slug 3, Badlands GOTY and Skullgirls: 2nd Encore
It must be noted that this plugin only supports official DualShock 3/4 controllers as of now so fakes won’t work. Furthermore, it has the following bugs which you should keep in mind when using it:
- PSVita buttons can’t be used when this plugin is in use
- If you press the DualShock 4’s touchpad when using Adrenaline, Adrenaline will crash
MiniVitaTV comes in two kernel plugins and you must install both of them in the *KERNEL section in taiHEN’s config.txt. Pairing up your controllers is quite simple so you’ll get your DS3/DS4 working on your PSVita in no time if you follow the instructions linked below!
Adrenaline 6.7 released
Adrenaline is TheFlow’s famous ePSP hacks that turns your PSVita into a PSP on steroids thanks to screen filters, save states, the full XMB experience and much much more. In anticipation of the above plugin, TheFlow updated it to version 6.7 which brings about support for local multiplayer in PS1 games when using the PSVita! Obviously, to be able to use local multiplayer, you need to install the plugin on your PSVita and have at least 2 controllers connected.
This update isn’t very useful for PSTV users as the device supports local multiplayer in PlayStation 1 games out of the box. However, as network updating via XMB started working again with Adrenaline 6.6, you might as well install this update even if you don’t need the added feature.

Hacker Specterdev has published an explanation of the 5.05 PS4 Jailbreak, which relies on flaws in the BPF driver, similar to what the 4.55 exploit did (except more complex because Sony strengthened access to BPF since the 4.55 exploit).
The article is extremely well detailed, but deals with a very complex topic, so don’t expect to understand much unless you’re very well versed in system architecture (it’s still an essential read if you expect one day to find your own exploit!).
It shows exploiting techniques have become very advanced, as a reply to the progress made on OS security by Sony and other console manufacturers. In particular, Specter describes how the System regularly checks whether the stack pointer is trying to run userland when it shouldn’t (that is, when it’s running in a kernel context), and how this made implementation of the exploit much more complex.
Of note, among the people credited in this writeup is TheFlow, and I believe this is the first time I’ve seen him being mentioned in the context of PS4 hacking.
You can read the full writeup here.

VHBB, or Vita Homebrew Browser, is a homebrew utility that downloads and installs homebrew from Rinnegatamante’s VitaDB. This utility, by devnoname120, was released in late March 2017 as a GekiHEN entry and it managed to win the utility section prize of $250.
VHBB 0.82 bring about the following:
◾TLSv1.2 support which makes it work again!◾Before this update, Vita Homebrew Browser was spewing out a network error since BinTray, the place where it downloads the actual files from, dropped support for older versions of TLS. Thankfully, this update makes VHBB work on FW 3.60/3.65 as well even though the browser on these firmwares doesn’t support TLSv1.2.
Make sure you tick ‘Enable Unsafe Homebrew’ because this homebrew needs access to system functions to work!
Obviously, this is a must-have update so it’s recommended you go get it straight away. For novice users, you should do the following to get VHBB:

Developer ps4miner has released a patched version of the PS4 Media Player (with VR support), which will run on 5.05 consoles that have not been PSN activated. This will let you play video and music through the PS4 Media Player on a hacked 5.05 console. And it will answer the question: “How do I Install Media Player on PS4 without PSN?“.
The patch escalates the player’s process to let it run with going through the regular security checks. The developer states that due to how this is just a binary patch with hardcoded offsets, this is only compatible with 5.05, and probably 5.07. On other firmwares, he expects this will not work and trying to run the app could reboot your console.
In the hacker’s own words, “it’s not the best variant of fixing this app, but it works for now (as a temporary solution).”. Users have reported this works fine, including those of us who want to use it in combination with Plex.
You can download the patched version of PS4 Media Player here. Use at your own risk

One of the important features of the PS4 on recent firmwares is the possibility to install games on an external USB disk, which can be useful if your internal drive is lacking space. Unfortunately, for user-created packages on hacked consoles, this feature didn’t work (throwing error CE-41798-9). Tools such as app2usb exist as workarounds to this limitation, but might be considered a bit hard to use for some users (more on this below).
Flatz has provided patches to fix the error, and allow fpkg files to be installed on the PS4’s extended hard drive. The developers of some of the payloads for the 5.05 exploits have already updated their payloads such as XVortex.
You can download the payload from XVortex’s github here. You can send the payload to your 5.05 PS4 with user friendly tools such as Al-Azif’s PS4 Exploit tool, or on an esp8266.

h-encore is the hack that TheFlow has been promising for Firmware 3.65-3.68 which allows you to run HENkaku/taiHEN on them. Contrary to his previous “3.65 updater”, this hack doesn’t require you to be on FW 3.60 to use it so that means that you can hack your PSVita/PSTV running a firmware higher than FW 3.60 right now! Obviously, h-encore will allow you to run:
h-encore uses an application entry point so you don’t need a WiFi connection to use it.
- All your favourite homebrew although some homebrew may not work on FW 3.67/3.68 due to different memory offsets. However, some software such as Adrenaline, has already been updated to support these firmware versions and some doesn’t need to be updated at all.
- Plugins, like VitaBright or ShellBat, so that you can make your PSVita/PSTV work exactly how you want it.
- Games that require FW 3.67-3.68 so that you won’t be stuck running games that require FW 3.65 or below (as was the case before this release since the highest hackable firmware was FW 3.65 IF you had already been on FW 3.60).
- Use SD2Vita for cheap memory via microSD cards.
- Many other great things!
How do I hack my PSVita/PSTV running FW 3.65-3.68 then?
QCMA backup hacking is required for this one so make sure you sit yourself down for this one!
To hack your device, you require the following:
- A computer and some common sense
- A PSVita/PSTV running FW 3.65 to 3.68
- If your device is running FW 3.61 or 3.63, update right to FW 3.65 NOT FW 3.67/3.68 as you can’t install HENkaku Enso (runs at boot) on them.
- A PSVita memory card if you’re hacking a Fat (OLED/1K) PSVita. This is not required if you’re hacking a Vita Slim (2k model) or a PSTV as they have 1GB internal storage to which you can install h-encore.
- Your device must be linked to PSN but it doesn’t need to be activated
If you have all those things, then follow the guide below which consists of 12 steps. Before attempting to hack your device, make sure you read it twice and understand what’s going on to avoid asking stupid questions to TheFlow! The process is somewhat lengthy and requires game backup hacking and injecting via QCMA so don’t attempt to do it if you don’t have at least an hour on your hands.

One problem with PlayStation 4 is you can not downgrade the system 'firmware', so those on v6.0 or v5.5, can not go back in time on their PS4 consoles and enjoy basically the totally open v5.05 exploitable PS4 firmware, but that could change in the near future as recently @LightningMods_ gave out a link to a 'pastebin' that contains allegedly a bunch of useful 'keys' from the PS4 SYSCON chip that controls alot of the PS4 system boot-up and checking of the signed PS4 firmware files, and other checks.
- FW_AES --> 5301C28824B57137A819C042FC119E3F
- FW_CMAC --> 8F215691AC7EF6510239DD32CC6A2394
- PTCH_AES --> EF90B21B31452379068E3041AAD8281E
- PTCH_CMAC --> 95B1AAF20C16D46FC816DF32551DE032
- RL78_ID --> 3A4E6F743A557365643A

Does overclocking the Vita actually do anything, well heres a release that may answer that question:
Like the PSP, the PSVita normally runs in an underclocked mode with a CPU frequency of 333MHz rather than 444MHz. However, the plugin LOLIcon manages to truly overclock the PSVita past 444MHz to 500MHz!
Unlike plugins like OclockVita and PSV VSH Menu, LOLIcon overclocks the PSVita’s CPU to 500MHz (or 494MHz according to Yifan Lu) which isn’t an officially supported frequency. On a more technical note, this true overclock was achieved by messing around with the direct registers which control the ARM CPU’s clock speeds.
LOLIcon also has a nice and easy-to-use menu with extra features!
Other than its overclocking ability which grants extra extra FPS in games/homebrew, it also has other features such as:
- A menu reminiscent of PSV VSH Menu to manage the plugin’s settings
- Configuration profiles for every game
- An FPS counter
- An X/O button swapper
- More features are planned for the future which may make this the ultimate overclocking/in-game menu plugin!

HENkaku Ensō is, without a doubt, installed on most hacked FW 3.60/5 as it gives a full untether. Due to what it achieves, it modifies system files and as a result, a simple bug can potentially brick your system. Thankfully, version 1.1 has been released to address the only such bug that the installer had!
A few hours ago, Yifan Lu released version 1.1 of HENkaku Ensō which brought about the following:
- A fix to the bricking bug which happened if you tried to uninstall HENkaku after removing it by reinstalling a firmware PUP file.
- It must be noted that the problem was in the installer itself as the payload wasn’t changed.
- HENkaku Ensō 1.1 only updates the installer so DO NOT reinstall the payload!
- As a result, you won’t notice anything different when installing the updated installer and you should not reinstall HENkaku Ensō through it if it’s already installed!
In more detail, the bricking bug is triggered when you re/install a 3.60/3.65 PUP file without uninstalling Ensō beforehand. Then, if you proceed to uninstall Ensō via the installer, your system is bricked forever. This bug happens because when you install a PUP file, HENkaku Ensō is automatically removed but the installer doesn’t detect this. Due to this, the uninstaller tries to remove Ensō again and restores an old MBR backup that kills the Vita!

VitaShell, by TheFlow, is a file manager for the PSVita/PSTV that has been around since the Rejuvenate days but its popularity only soared with the advent of HENkaku two years ago. As it was bundled with HENkaku (as MolecularShell) and is the most fully fledged file manager on the console, it’s safe to assume that it’s the most installed piece of homebrew on HENkaku-enabled PSVita/PSTV consoles.
VitaShell 1.95 bring about the following:
- Compatibility with Xerpi’s USB Streaming plugin (UDCD_UVC)
- You must update the plugin to the latest version (v1.1) for this to work!
- A bug was fixed when copying files over in USB modeIf you thought these warnings were useless, now you can nuke them from your console! (even though I don’t recommend doing so)
- This prevents potential Memory Card corruption even though I never had any problems with older releases
- Line breaks in SFO files have been fixed and long names now scroll
- Option to disable the warning message when you install ‘unsafe’ VPK files

Last year, in collaboration with Ideas United and their creator’s community We Make, we launched the PlayStation Emerging Filmmakers Program – an initiative aimed at harnessing the creativity and diverse talent of budding filmmakers.
Writers and filmmakers were invited to submit their best concepts for an original television show. Out of hundreds of submissions, 10 concepts were chosen and the creators got the opportunity to pitch their ideas directly to PlayStation executives and film industry professionals. From there, five concepts were greenlit for pilot production.
Today, we are thrilled to unveil the five winning pilot episodes, which showcase the creators’ incredible talent and unique creative vision. The pilots span across a variety of genres – from sci-fi to fantasy, comedy to crime mystery.
Discovering and fostering new talent has always been important to PlayStation – we’ve excelled at giving creators a canvas for delivering exceptional experiences in games, and now we’re delighted to expand our support for the next generation of filmmakers as they kick off their careers.
The pilots are available to watch for free now on PlayStation Store and will also be available on PlayStation Vue soon. We hope our audience enjoys the episodes as much as we enjoyed working with the creators to develop these productions.
And finally, we present to you the five winning pilots. Enjoy!

DaedalusX64 is an N64 emulator for the PSP but many people use it on their PSVita/PSTV because there’s no native alternative. ‘TheMrIron2’ and ‘z2442’ seem to be working on improving this mad hack-up of an emulator. Recently, version 1.1.2 and 1.1.3 have been released and these brought along:
- Minor changes to the code and makefile along with compilation via the latest PSP SDK – version 1.1.2
- Code optimisation which brought about faster math processing and improvements in the emulation of the Media Engine; both of these combined provide better performance which may make some N64 titles more enjoyable – v1.1.3Updates to Daedalus are becoming somewhat substantial which could result in noticeable improvements!
- TheMrIron2 also mentioned that he intends to rewrite the Media Engine’s job manager which would speed up sound processing and bring massive speed-ups to games like F-Zero X. He’s already done some commits from when v1.1.3 was released so that may mean that a new release may be up soon!
- Version 1.1.3 is only provided in EBOOT.PBP format so you must have version 1.1.2 or another version of DaedalusX64 installed to use it.
