Last week, Sony Interactive Entertainment finally enabled PlayStation 4 users to play multiplayer games with their friends on other consoles - specifically Fortnite, albeit in a test beta with the suggestion that more titles may follow.
It's a feature consumers and developers alike have been demanding from Sony for a couple of years now and Shawn Layden, chairman of SIE Worldwide Studios, has discussed why it took the platform holder so long to comply.
Speaking on the latest episode of PlayStation Blogcast, as spotted by Eurogamer, the exec attributed it to a myriad of technical, business and customer service issues.
"We know this is a want, this is a desire, and we want to be able to deliver that in the best way possible," he said. "Now, enabling cross-play isn't just about flipping a switch and 'there you go'. It's a very multi-dimensional kind of attribute or feature.
"So we had to look at it from a technical point of view, we have to work with our partners from a business point of view, we have to make sure that if we enabled this, do we have the right customer service support, do we have the right messaging out there, do we have all these different things that you have to get in line? It's rather ordinal - they have to go in a certain order to get them all set up."
Layden's comments suggest a strong focus on quality, perhaps backed up by Sony's previous statement that it wasn't enabling cross-play because it wanted PlayStation 4 to be the best place to play.

There will be no PlayStation Experience this year. Sony Worldwide Studios Chairman Shawn Layden confirmed the news in an appearance on the PlayStation Blogcast today, saying the annual fan-focused showcase would not be held this year.
"The reasons behind that really are we have a lot of progress we're making in our games and we're seeing that coming out," Layden began. "Now that we have Spider-Man out the door, we're looking down in 2019 to games like Dreams and Days Gone. But we wouldn't have enough to bring people all together in some location in North America to have that event. We don't want to set expectations really high and then not deliver on it. It was a hard decision, but we have determined this year we will not hold PlayStation Experience."
Sony has been holding the PlayStation Experience in December of each year since 2014. It also ran a Southeast Asian PlayStation Experience event in Malaysia in 2017, and followed that with another in Thailand last month.

Sony has temporarily halted the release of Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal on PlayStation 4, telling US publisher Xseed Games to remove Intimacy Mode from the game.
Rated PEGI 16 in Europe, Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal is an anime-style game about high school girl ninjas that features partial nudity, sexual themes, strong language, and violence.
In its current form, the game also includes an Intimacy Modes which allows players to spray down and grope the girls.
According to a statement from Xseed Games, Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal will be slightly delayed in order to remove Intimacy Mode from the PS4 version.
"We respect the wishes of the platform holder," added Xseed Games.
The Steam release, which will be launched alongside the PS4 version, will remain unaltered.
Intimacy Mode has appeared in previous games from Xseed without pushback from Sony. However, according to Xseed localisation producer Tom Lipschultz, this is "brand new policy" from the platform holder.

Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII has set new digital download records, Activision has revealed.
The game has achieved Activision's biggest launch day digital sales, besting the likes of Destiny 2.
It is also the fastest-selling digital game in PlayStation history - it has set a new launch day record for digital games sold via the PlayStation Store. On Xbox One, it also set a record as Activision's biggest Xbox digital launch.
The game was made available on PC via Blizzard's Battle.net service for the first time (historically, the game was sold via Steam). It set a new franchise record, with digital PC launch sales more than double what Call of Duty: WWII managed to do during the same period in 2017.
According to Activision, more people connected online to play Black Ops IIII during launch day than last year's WWII.
The publisher stops short of saying that the game outperformed last year's title. Indeed, physical launch sales of Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII declined by almost 50% in the UK compared with Call of Duty: WWII.

Heres some news that PS4 owners should heed:
It seem some clever bad 'hackers' have found that you can 'brick' a PS4 running the latest firmware by sending in-game chat 'messages' to your PlayStation 4 console with certain 'characters' which will cause your PS4 to brick itself, forcing you to 'factory reset' it to un-brick, which means you end up losing all your PSN Games/DLC/Game Updates/Game Saves, forcing you to spend hours restoring it all.
It appears that PlayStation 4 users might need to quickly go tweak their system settings, due to a newly uncovered "hack" in the form of corrupted private messages.
Hundreds of users have reported that upon receiving a weird message in their PS4's message inbox, their consoles would freeze up, and not do anything, requiring a full factory reset in order to function again. This glitch can happen to anyone that allows messages from "everybody", so it's highly recommended that for now, you should set messages to friends only.
Those unlucky enough to experience the problem find that upon getting the message, their system won't connect to their controller, and if they try to force the system to go back to the menu, it'll still crash when signing into their account. Sony hasn't said anything in regards to the matter at this time.
Even deleting the message from the mobile app doesn’t work. It happened to me during Rainbow Six: Siege. A player from the other team used a dummy account to send the message and crashed my entire team. We all have had to factory reset. Only one of our guys wasn’t affected and he has his messages private. Do this ASAP to prevent this from happening to you.
Click to expand... This just happened to me during Rocket League. Got a message then after a minute my controller stopped working and everything went silent. Now I can’t access the home menu. It just goes to the ‘Report Problem’ screen every time.
Click to expand... You can protect yourself from such problems if you go to settings, account management, privacy settings, and then personal info/messaging.

Those with hacked consoles keep away:
Even tho, PlayStation 3 console is basically 'end-of-line', Sony is still rolling out 'support' for it, and in this case, their new v4.83 firmware is well an 'stability patch' as usual which to us Scene Ponies it really means, watch out Sony is pulling us free horses back into the stables to be retrained to be good consumers and not greedy pirates or free-range homebrew'ers, in other words: DO NOT UPDATE!
After a look at the update files & preliminary tests, I am afraid I am bearing some bad news for HAN users playing online.
- It would appear that s@ny patched one of the 2 webkit exploits we currently use to trigger ROP chains.
It means that we need to replace this exploit in order to get any ps3xploit tool working on 4.83. Work is already under way, obviously no ETA at this stage. Please don't ask. - The kernel is completely untouched. No changes to either lv1 or lv2 which means CFWs will be easier to make. That's also good news for devs with any promising kernel vulnerability under investigation.
- Changes were made to vsh as usual & they seem extensive enough to suspect that they may have patched the HAN vulnerability as well. We have not yet had time to look into the matter at all but if they did, HAN might be gone for good past 4.82, leaving only CFW2OFW conversions installable & runnable on 4.83 whenever the patched webkit exploit gets replaced.
In conclusion, the changes brought by the 4.83 update mean that anyone updating will lose usage of HAN, and possibly permanently until a kernel exploit comes out. Cfw2ofw conversions will be the only installed games that will still be working after updating.
The nature of this update is upsetting our 4.0 release plans somewhat
Click to expand... The above notes are from the famous PS3XPLOIT team that was able to last 'xmas make softmod'ing our newer PS3's finally possible, but it looks like evil big crab is slowly catching up and now basically blocked all known loopholes, but never fear, they are hard at work digging around looking for new HAN entry points, in the meantime it can't be stressed enough: DO NOT UPDATE!

Microsoft yesterday, announced they moving forward with 'cloud gaming', but Sony on the other-hand recently gave an interview to Financial Times were they pointed out now is the time to start working on 'next-gen' PlayStation to have it ready within 3 years or so.
“At this point, what I can say is it’s necessary to have a next-generation hardware,” said Kenichiro Yoshida, Sony’s president and CEO, in an interview with the Financial Times.
Yoshida did not name the console, so there’s no information yet on whether it will officially be called the “PlayStation 5.” There’s also no word on a release window, although John Kodera, the CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment — that’s the official name of the company’s gaming division — suggested in May that the next PlayStation is at least three years away.
“We will use the next three years to prepare the next step, to crouch down so that we can jump higher in the future,” said Kodera. Sony plans to employ that strategy through its 2020 fiscal year, which ends in the spring of 2021, so the PS5 may not come until after that point.
Click to expand... So what do you think is 2021 too long ahead for an PS5, or are we going to see another PS4 upgrade before then, and how will Sony survive with an 'next-gen' dedicated console, if by then gamers have embrace the new era of 'cloud gaming' on any device they want?

Of course, only idiots would be stupid enough to try to sell 'consoles' pre-loaded with 'pirated' games on them on eBay USA, but problem with one 'bad apple' it ruins people trying to sell their 'used consoles', as crackdowns like this normally result in eBay just pulling down all listings as they can't be sure there is 'games' on them or not, even if the seller does not mention it in the listing, they rather be sure then risk being held liable by Sony for allowing a 'used console' to be sold with games on it that the seller does not own or have rights to them.
Following the release of a new jailbreak version a few months ago, things took a turn for the worse for Sony. This allowed the masses to tinker with their PS4 consoles which only increased the piracy troubles.
While it will be hard for Sony to put the genie back in the bottle, the Japanese company has decided to take a stand. In a new case filed at a federal court in California, Sony details its complaint against a local resident who allegedly offered for sale jailbroken PS4s filled with pirated games.
According to Sony, defendant Eric Scales was using the handle “Blackcloak13” to sell the jailbroken PS4s preloaded with over 60 pirated games on eBay.
“Defendant is an individual who has marketed, sold, and distributed ‘jailbroken’ PS4 consoles that: (a) contain ‘pirated’ (unauthorized) copies of PS4-compatible video games, and (b) were produced and designed for purposes of, and/or were marketed by Defendant for use in, circumventing technological protection measures,” the complaint reads.
Sony ordered two devices online and found that they were indeed ‘as advertised.’ The PS4s were modified to run an unnamed exploit which effectively circumvents the technological protection measures that normally prevent people from playing pirated games.
“The exploit enables the PS4 console sold by Defendant to play the 60+ unauthorized copies of video games that are contained on its hard drive,” Sony writes.
In addition to the eBay shop, the man is also accused of running a separate website (now offline) where he advertised his services and products. The website stated that he’s been jailbreaking and modding consoles since 2006, and encouraged people to “stop buying games.”
“On Defendant’s website, where he uses the traditional ‘pirate’ symbol of a skull and crossbones shown below, Defendant states that purchasing his services or products will enable the purchaser to ‘be able to Download and copy any game’ and to ‘STOP BUYING GAMES’,” Sony notes.

The sprawling wilderness of Ancient Greece in the latest Assassin's Creed was achieved without excessive working hours.
That's according to studio bosses at developer Ubisoft Quebec, who spoke to Gamasutra about how they managed to avoid overworking its staff while working on the best-selling open-world title.
"While we can always do better, I can tell you hand on heart that [Assassin's Creed Odyssey] hasn't required a massive crunch, like maybe some of the triple-As from five or ten years ago," the studio's MD Patrick Klaus told the site.
"We can still always do better, but we have managed pretty well to succeed in delivering a game of huge magnitude which is hitting a good quality [level], while making sure that our teams are not burnt out and disgusted with working in games.
"We collectively, on the management team, think that it is a false economy to burn out our teams. We risk losing them, or we risk disengaging them, and we will simply not get the best out of those talents if we're forcing them to work insane hours in crunch. We've got some way to go, but I'm feeling good about what we have achieved."
Assassin's Creed Odyssey won't be the only major AAA game this Q4 to have been developed without crunch, but the industry's working practices have come under scrutiny once again in light of the recent controversy surrounding Red Dead Redemption 2.
Rockstar's title has been in development for eight years, yet the the developer saw a backlash from the industry after Dan Houser commented that some employees had been working 100-hour weeks to get the game ready for its release tomorrow. He later clarified that this referred to a few members of the senior team, although reports from employees are decidedly mixed.
As with Red Dead, the three years of work behind Odyssey was spread across multiple studios - ten in total, including seven other Ubisoft teams, Sperasoft and Technicolor Games, with Quebec taking the lead.
Klaus and his colleagues - senior producer Marc-Alexis Côté and creative director Jon Dumont - acknowledge that there have been times where extra hours have been put into the project but stressed that this decision often comes from the team itself, and that those who work extra are encouraged to slow things down afterwards.
"They have a brilliant idea, they want to implement it, so they'll push for a couple of weeks and then rest a little bit," said Côté, later elaborating on what happens once a game is finished.
He said: "Before every person transfers to another project, they get the time to rest as well. This is really a studio-level initiative, so that people have some time to cool down.

The NPD Group has published its latest sales rankings for September 2018, and Spidey swings ahead of all other releases.
Marvel's Spider-Man was the best-selling game of the month, outperforming multi-format releases such as FIFA and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. It was the highest launch month ever for a PlayStation exclusive in terms of dollar sales - higher, in fact, than any other game this year - and the seventh largest for any game ever released on a Sony platform.
The game is also the third biggest-selling title of 2018 so far, only behind fellow Sony exclusive God of War and current leader Far Cry 5.
Insomniac's title performed so well, its launch month sales are 37 per cent higher than the combined launch month sales for all other Spider-Man games released since 1995.
NBA 2K19 launches at No.2, and is already the fifth best-selling game of the year, with the highest launch month dollar sales for any sports game in NPD's history.
There were also impressive performances from Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Forza Horizon 4, which were the third and seventh best-selling games of the month respectively. NPD's tracking runs from September 2nd through to October 6th, which means Ubisoft's epic achieved this with just one day of sales, while Forza Horizon 4 did it in five.
Both games also outperformed their predecessors, with Odyssey showing double-digit percentage growth over last year's Origins in terms of dollar sales. Meanwhile, Forza Horizon 4 enjoyed the highest launch month dollar sales for any title in the series' history, setting a new record for racing games on Xbox platforms.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider launched at No.5 and generated more dollars than Rise of the Tomb Raider but failed to beat the performance of the 2013 reboot.
There were a handful of older releases in the Top 20, such as the perennially successful Grand Theft Auto V, Nintendo hits Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart 8, and Ubisoft's Rainbow Six: Siege. Activision's Destiny 2 also received a boost, leaping to No.8 off the back of recent expansion Forsaken.
Looking at market spending, sales of all three categories - hardware, software, and accessories and game cards - are up a combined seven per cent when compared to a year ago, with $1.4 billion spent over the course of the month.
Accessories and game cards were the prime revenue generator, up 43 per cent year-on-year to a record $323 million. For year-to-date sales, spending in the category reached $2.6 billion, up by 35 per cent when compared to 2017 - another all-time high.
In fact, both September and year-to-date spending on game cards exceeded accessories for the first time. NPD did not disclose what the best-selling cards were, but it's a safe bet Fortnite's V-Bucks played their part.
Spending on hardware actually fell by three per cent compared to September 2017, but still took in $306 million. Both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One enjoyed significant gains, but these were offset by declines across other platforms.
Unsurprisingly, PlayStation 4 was the best-selling device in terms of both unit sales and dollars generated, and the leader for the year so far. It managed the highest September unit sales for a non plug-n-play console since its own sales in 2014 (recent years having been dominated by devices like the NES and SNES Classics).
Xbox One's September dollar sales were up by 30 per cent year-on-year, and up 60 per cent year to date.

PlayStation has announced the upcoming PS4 exclusive from Bend Studio, Days Gone, has been delayed.
The game was originally due to come out on February 22nd, but the PlayStation Blog reveals it has been pushed back to April 26th instead.
The announcement attributes this to the "crowded February timeline" - no doubt a reference to the fact that Days Gone would have arrived on the same day as 4A Games' hotly anticipated Metro Exodus and BioWare's ambitious shared-world shooter Anthem.

Earlier this afternoon, the world famous Sony Scene Developer @flat_z send out this tweet, with news regarding his latest release for the PlayStation 4 consoles with exploitable firmwares!
Remote Package Installer Requirements:
- Any exploit on 4.5x+
- HEN 1.8 (you could get it from zecoxao's page) or any other kernel payload (it just need to have fPKG stuff and /data mount patches for ShellCore that I've posted recently)
Here is the first version of remote package installer that I made a few days ago, it have no GUI yet (it just displays a splash screen), but all the job could already be done via Web API that you could access remotely from your PC using any of available tools that you prefer: a custom web server or an application, NodeJS scripts, etc. No more need to use USB flash drives or external hard drives for your packages, everything could be done remotely.
One important thing: to be able to use this tool for receiving commands you need to have this application in focus (not in a background, because PS4 will suspend it and it won't be possible to use network anymore). After you send a command (to install game, for example), wait some time (I suppose "waiting to install" phase should be finished before you do minimize/close, anyway if you experiences it then click on "View Details" in notification window, you may see "the connection to the server has been lost", if so then just relaunch/maximize application and resume task), and then you could minimize this application freely (switch to a game, for example), because actual installing (or better saying, downloading) will be running in a background.
So, an idea is simple: you need to set up a web server that will serve package files for PS4 access, in other words, it will host package files and when a command will be received it will send .pkg file to PS4 using a simple HTTP protocol. Also, this PS4 application runs another web server by itself (using 12800 port) that is used to receive commands from PC/mobile or anything else you prefer. To send a command to PS4 server you need to use any tool that you want (this could be the same tool that you use for web server, for example, if it's a site then it will be some PHP/JS/Python script or you could just use a simple cURL client). Some of you could also create their own tool to communicate with it using HTML+JS/C#/NodeJS or anything else, so it's flexible and there are no restrictions. All commands are based on HTTP POST requests that receives/sends JSON data (see below).
There are two types of installation:
- using direct URLs to .pkg parts
- using URL to manifest JSON, so called CDN way, but it's limited due to exploit's reasons, however if it's still usable for you then you need to unblock this CDN domain (if it's blocked): gs2.ww.prod.dl.playstation.net Also, manifest .json may be on a local server as well, an official server is not required, of course. You could even host a public server (even CDN) to store files that could be accessed from your PS4.
Because I'm lazy to create desktop application I just use a NodeJS server (I use NPM package called "serve") as local web server on my PC, this package is very good because it supports multi-threading and PS4 actually need it.
Code:
npm install serve
serve -p <local port> <serve folder>
So you set a path to a folder where are your packages located and then specify proper URL for PS4 to locate them. For client I just use command line version of cURL.

Geoff Embree has completed an English translation of 7th Dragon 2020-II for PSP. With the official localization of 7th Dragon III: Code VFD last year, the entire 7th Dragon series is now playable in English.
7th Dragon 2020-II is a direct sequel to 7th Dragon 2020. It expands the classes previously introduced, adds the new Idol class, and further develops the cast of the previous game, nearly all of whom return. On the production side, Kazuya Niinou steps aside as director for Dai Oba, while producer Rieko Kodama (Phantasy Star, Skies of Arcadia), and composer Yuzo Kushiro (Streets of Rage, Etrian Odyssey) continue their work on the series.
It is recommended that players complete 7th Dragon 2020 before playing.

If you don’t know what PSM games are, they’re games that used to be available via a service that closed over 3 years. Unfortunately, this meant that there was no longer a way to play them (unless you had bought them and they were on Vita already) but then, frangar released NoPsmDrm which fixed this problem. However, modding these games was impossible since NoPsmDrm didn’t decrypt the game itself but only created fake licenses to run the games. Thankfully, a few days ago F*PSSE was released and this decrypted PSM games and their files so that you could modify them.
Now, PSMPatch has been released and this lets you install mods to PSM games such Cytus Lambda and also run PSM homebrew! Among the realistic stuff that you can expect to come out of PSMPatch, we find:
- Patches to unlock content that required you to make an IAP
- While this may be illegal, it’s very difficult to make a case against it because the servers for processing these IAPs have been down for years
- Mods that could change the look of certain game elements
- Ability to make homebrew PSM games/applications with the PSM SDK (which means that you can code in C# for the Vita)

Spelunky Classic HD is an enhanced version of the original Spelunky game (which was renamed to Spelunky Classic).Spelunky Classic is a cave exploration game in which you hunt treasure, kill enemies and dodge traps among others things. This game, by Derek Yu, was originally released in 2009 as freeware but later on in 2012, an HD reboot (that’s available for the Vita via PSN) of it was released for which you have to pay $15.Spelunky Classic HD, by yancharkin, took the original Spelunky game (which was converted to GM:S by Darius Kazemi and YoYo games) and improved upon it by adding:
- Support for different aspect ratios like 16:9 (which is found on many of today’s screens)
- Support for touch input
- Translation support (there’s a Spanish one available)
- The PSVita got its port by Reddit user ‘tijesef‘ and G*Maker was used to make it possible. Spelunky Classic HD works pretty well on the Vita and has the following features:
- Excellent performance with no performance drops at all
- 16:9 video so you don’t have to bother with letter boxed gameplay
- Audio support
- Ability to use the d-pad or analogue stick to control the game
- This game makes no use of the touch screen so it’s PSTV-friendly!

VitaGrafix is a plugin for hacked PSVita/PSTV consoles by developer ‘Electry’ which allows you to unlock the full potential of games. This is done by:
- Letting you enforce or remove FPS caps
- Allowing you to increase the resolution of the framebuffer (the size of the frame you’re being shown on screen)
- Allowing you to increase internal buffer resolution (the resolution that’s being rendered internally)
- You can also reduce these aforementioned buffers as certain games, like Borderlands 2, have performance issues with their default settings
- Allowing you to configure the above options for supported games however you wantAmong games that are supported, one can find Persona 4 Golden, Ridge Racer, LittleBigPlanet, Killzone:Mercenary and many more. It must be noted that not all options can be used with all supported games (for example, you can only change the internal resolution in Hatsune Miku Project Diva X).
VitaGrafix version 3.1 brings along support for the following games:
- Sly Cooper Collection and Sly Cooper Thieves in Time, both for EU/NA versions. FPS Caps can be configured for both and the framebuffer resolution can be modified for the former.
- Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus for EU/NA/JP regions with supporting changing the internal buffer resolution
- Dragon Quest Builders for EU/NA/JP/ASIA. Support has been added for changing FPS cap settings
- Ratchet & Clank Collection and Ratchet & Clank Full Frontal Assault/QForce, both for EU/NA regions and with support for changing the frame buffer.
- Utawarerumono: Chiriyuku Mono he no Komoriuta for the Japan region with internal buffer resolution modification support.
- Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z for EU/NA/JP regions. This allows you to change the internal buffer resolution.
- The EU version of Borderlands 2 is now supported and LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens is now playable without crashes at a resolution of 960×544 (native resolution)
Configuring the plugin is either done by manually editing the plugin’s configuration text file (found in ux0:/data/VitaGrafix/config.txt) or by VitaGrafix Configurator which does all the dirty work for you!
To learn more about how to configure the plugin manually and to see the whole supported game list, simply follow this link. To get the plugin, go here.
As mentioned above, VitaGrafix Configurator is a configuration utility that makes setting up the VitaGrafix much easier. This utility, by ‘Kirezar’, is written in Lua (and interpreted by Lua Player Plus) and makes use of the PSVita’s front buttons for navigation so that it’s also compatible with the PSTV.
Among the features found in this software, we find the ability to change graphics options (as per what VitaGrafix supports) and the hiding of non-available options so that you know what works and what doesn’t. It also shows you which regions of the game are supported and information about game defaults.
VitaGrafix Configurator version 1.2 brings about the following:
- The game list has been updated to be in line with what VitaGrafix v3.1 supports
- The supported game list can now be updated via Wi-Fi when a new version of VitaGrafix drops.
- This removes the need of having to update the app manually when a new version of VitaGrafix is out.
To download VitaGrafix Configurator, you can either open VHBB as it’s available on VitaDB or download it manually through here.

GameMaker Studio is a game engine, which runs on multiple platforms, that uses a scripting language which allows you to create games with less effort.
Among GameMaker Studio-based games, we find:
Through G*Maker, you can take Game Maker Studio (GM:S) projects and compile/export them to the PSVita! This tool allows you to bring open-source GM:S projects to the PSVita with little effort but it must be noted that this won’t allow you to run closed-source GM:S games on your PSVita. G*Maker is based on some code from a game called “Siralim” and that uses GM:S v1.4.1763 as the game engine so you won’t be able to use newer versions of GM:S with G*Maker.
If you want to start bringing GameMaker games over to the PSVita, simply look for their links which can be found easily enough. SilicaAndPina has also been able to port some games which can also be found online.
@nikita_krapivin, CelesteBlue and others helped make G*Maker possible. There isn’t enough information to verify the legality of G*Maker and the Extreme Burger Defense port (was distributed via Humble Bundle) so links won’t be provided.
If you don’t know what PSM games are, you needn’t worry as the PSM (not PSN) service was shut down over 3 years ago. As of right now, they can be played via NoPsmDRM on hacked PSVita/PSTVs even if you didn’t own a Vita and buy PSM titles back in 2015 when the service was still up.
However, NoPsmDRM (like NoNpDrm) leaves games in an unencrypted state as it works by creating fake licenses. As a result, modding PSM games wasn’t possible as game files and executables were encrypted but now, F*PSSE has been released which lets you decrypt these games!

If you’ve been following any of rsn8887’s work in the PSVita homebrew scene, you’ll easily realise that he loves working on small updates/patches. These patches are usually intended to fix pesky bugs, update code bases or add useful new features and this time, it’s the latter.
rsn8887’s new “Sharp Bilinear without scanlines” filter is intended to be used with TheFlow’s Adrenaline 6.7 and it offers some advantages over the “Sharp Bilinear” filter already found in Adrenaline. Among these advantages, we find:
- The removal of scanlines which is a feature that some people don’t like
- The only things that this shader does are giving sharp pixels minimum blur and eliminating pixel wobble
- Unlike the “Bilinear” filter that comes bundled with Adrenaline, rsn8887’s filter does not cause screen tearing and slow-down in certain PS1 games like “Lomax”.
To get this new filter, you simply need to follow this link, download “adrenaline_user.suprx” and copy it to “ux0:app/PSPEMUCFW/sce_module/” (you’ll have to replace the file that’s already there). After doing that, you can just open Adrenaline and enjoy the new filter as it doesn’t require a device reboot to function.
This new filter has already been accepted by TheFlow in Adrenaline’s official codebase so expect it to be bundled with Adrenaline 6.8 when it drops.

A few days ago, Sony decided to release OFW 4.83 for the PlayStation 3 which broke ps3Xploit thus rendering the latest OFW unhackable again. This came as a bit of a surprise as the PS3 is over a decade old and many thought that Sony had stopped supporting it.
As a result of this, CFW 4.82 users were no longer able to connect to PSN because Sony has server-side checks to prevent consoles not running the FW from logging into PSN. Now, that issue is no more as, thanks to @Evilnat, SEN Enabler 6.0.9 has been released with the ability to spoof OFW 4.83 so that you can connect to PSN on your PS3 running CFW.
Other than support for spoofing OFW 4.83, SEN Enabler 6.0.9 brings along:
- Support for CFW 4.83 CEX/DEX although this hasn’t been tested as there aren’t any 4.83 CFWs yet
- Cobra data for Rebug 4.82 CEX/DEX has been updated
- SEN plugin has been updated to version 3.1
To grab SEN Enabler 6.0.9 and get your CFWed PS3 back online, simply follow this link and download it from your preferred mirror.

There is little reason to be on firmware 3.69 right now. However, if you’re an unlucky buyer of a 3.69 console or run 3.69 on your second console for whatever reason, you may be in luck as Qwikrazor87, who released ARK for 3.60-3 a while ago, is apparently working on an ePSP hack for FW 3.69!
By analysing a string of tweets from the last couple of hours, Qwikrazor87 has revealed to us that:
- He’s working on exploiting the ePSP software on PSVita/PSTV devices running FW 3.69
- Currently, he has 5 different kernel exploits on hand and he can use 3 of these as he’s saving the other 2
- His time working on this may be limited as he’s having some legal trouble so don’t except a release just yet
Apart from revealing information about what he has, he also suggests that you download a PSP game (or mini; a demo might work as well but Qwikrazor87 hasn’t confirmed this) off PSN and back it up via QCMA. This way, you’ll have a backup that you can easily modify with psvimgtools and potentially inject the ARK payload into. Qwikrazor87 also suggests that you head over to http://cma.henkaku.xyz/ and grab your CMA key by using the AID generated by QCMA on your PC.
