The PlayStation 4 will be sold at a lower price than the Xbox One when it launches in China, according to new reports from various Chinese media sources.
The rumour started on the estimable Chinese tech blog WPDang, which reported that the PlayStation 4 will sell for 2,999 RMB when it is released (in all likelihood) early next year. By contrast, the Xbox One, which is already on sale in China, currently sells for 3,699 RMB without Kinect.
That's a difference of around $110 between the base models of each console, rising to $210 for the Xbox One bundled with Kinect.
And there is an interesting twist to the story. When Sony and Microsoft first laid out their plans for launching in China, they each named a local company as a partner: BesTV for Xbox One and Shanghai Oriental Pearl for PlayStation 4. However, last week, the companies were merged to form the Shanghai Media Group, meaning that both consoles will be operated and sold by the same organisation.
This means that the PlayStation 4 is likely to carry the same limitations in China as the Xbox One, most of which relate to the variety of available software. Used game sales are not allowed, official games are all region-locked, and the chairman of the Shanghai Media Group recently stated a reluctance to sell games from international developers.
"Bringing foreign games into the country doesn't make BesTV money, doing development and operating the sales platforms ourselves provides the biggest profits," said Li Ruigang, according to Kotaku. "The people who make money selling game discs are companies like Sony and Microsoft, so relying on selling discs is definitely not what we want."

Happy Birthday, PlayStation! It's been twenty years since the first Sony console, and to celebrate its two-decade run, SCE has decked its fourth-generation console in the same colors and design licks of the original PlayStation. It's, naturally, a limited edition (12,300 consoles will go on sale, matching the launch date of the PS1), and even the controller, camera and (jeez) power cables will all get a coating of 1994 gray. But, what if you already own a PS4? Or don't fancy your chances of snagging one of the limited run? You can still get your dose of nostalgia, as Sony's also released a PSone theme for its current console -- complete with vintage start-up sound -- you just need to download the latest firmware update. Take a closer look at the full detail (and videos) below. We'll add more pictures when we can -- but if you're game for some gray, preorders start December 6 in the US.

Twenty years ago this week in Japan, Sony cemented its name in the annals of video game legend with the launch of the original PlayStation. The little gray box would help usher in a new era of gaming, and bring players to worlds that could only be discovered in our wildest dreams.
Though there are countless classic games in the PlayStation's library, the Joystiq team reminisces about a handful of favorites. Which games on the PS1 were significant to our growth as lifelong admirers of gaming culture?

Sony issued an update for PlayStation 4 consoles last night, which is expected to further improve system stability. Update 2.03's notes are minimal, simply stating that "system software stability during use of some features has been improved" with the patch.
The update arrived three weeks after firmware version 2.02 for the system, which bore the same description as yesterday's patch. In both cases, the updates clean up the multitude of problems introduced by Sony's major 2.00 update in late October. The subsequent early November patch rectified the rest mode issues, though it seems the console manufacturer had more items to tweak in the system. As of the end of October, shipments for the PS4 reached 13.5 millionconsoles.

BSkyB has released an app enabling Sky customers to watch TV through their PS4.
TV From Sky is a free app available on the PlayStation Store, but it requires customers to have both a Sky iD and a Sky Go Extra subscription.
The app lets Sky customers stream live and on-demand TV on their console. However, it doesn't let users download TV shows, movies and box sets for offline viewing, a feature that's available to Sky Go Extra customers on mobiles, tablets and laptops.
A Sky Go Extra subscription costs £5 per month on top of your regular Sky bill, or is free if you have Sky Multiscreen.
Xbox 360 owners who used the Sky Go app were told in July that the service was no longer free to all Sky customers and would require a Sky Go Extra subscription, much like the PS4 app does.
Sky also offers another streaming video service, Now TV, on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PS3. Designed for non-Sky subscribers, Now TV offers on-demand, limited time access to some of Sky's most popular content including films and sport.

Sony has released free console themes to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the PlayStation.
The free themes are available now - there's one for PS4, one for PS3 and one for Vita.
Each theme features a 'PlayStation 20th Anniversary' logo and is designed with the original PlayStation's colour scheme of a grey background and red, yellow, green and blue icons. The PS4 theme also plays the original PlayStation startup sound when you turn the system on, as seen in this Vine.
PSone launched in Japan on December 3, 1994 and immediately won over gamers, quickly outselling its rival, the Sega Saturn.
The system essentially turned Sony into Nintendo's new rival, setting Sega off on a downward trend that eventually led to its withdrawal from the hardware business.
It eventually came to the west in September 1995, accompanied by a unique marketing campaign that targeted a young adult demographic rather than children.
The introduction of games such as WipEout, Tekken and Ridge Racer helped Sony attract an audience that was beginning to feel as if it was 'growing out' of gaming.
A total of 102 million PSones were sold worldwide.

Sony’s virtual world PlayStation Home is wrongly regarded as a flop, one of its key developers has said.
Despite its 38m downloads, with 19m active users and 3m monthly users at its peak, the service has already started to wind down and will be terminated at the end of March.
"It was a massive success that everyone thinks was a failure," former Home architect Oscar Clark told TechRadar. “I genuinely think it was successful from a commercial point of view. It showed you could make money.
“There were like 20, 30 studios that made money out of home. Like five or six that made a million and a half a year, which is not big in the scheme of things, but individually those studios did pretty well. It made it possible for companies like nDreams and Lockwood to be companies at all.”
nDreams in October outlined the extent of its own success within Home, although Clark did go on to point out some of the struggles the service had to contend with, such as compromises on key technical goals.
"It wasn't as successful as it could have been for a variety of reasons,” he added. “Getting a clear strategy was difficult and it ended up being a compromise. We were investing in the experience over time, but the one thing we would never get was the one thing that really mattered.
"I needed to be able to exit a game to [get to] Home. Everyone thought it was going to be the other way around. Everyone thought it would be a game launching into a new game from Home, but that wasn't the key. The key was getting away from your game. You finish playing your game, you go to Home so you can meet the other players, talk in character, have a bit of a laugh, then go and play something else. And we couldn't' convince the Japanese team to do that, the system software guys.
“There were a whole bunch of technical reasons, but the primary thing was that there wasn't the political will internally to really invest in it being a replacement of the cross-media bar. It needed to be the place where you chose the content and where you returned to after."
The service was also dogged by the spectre of unfulfilled promises.
"When Phil Harrison stood up and said we were going to have trophy rooms... we couldn’t have because, unless it was mandated, no one's going to make a 3D trophy for every trophy you got in a game," Clark added.
"And the live TV sets were actually impossible at the time, we found a way to do it later – video texture on a screen – but it wasn't physically possible when it was announced.”

PlayStation owners might not be blessed with Electronic Arts' EA Access subscription program, but the outfit's Peter Moore has a consolation prize for you. Sort of. Starting today at 3 p.m. Eastern / 12 p.m. Pacific, you can download Need for Speed: Most Wanted for PlayStation Vita, Mirror's Edge for PlayStation 3 and Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare on PS4, all for free on the PSN Store. Pretty cool, right? But, you can't put this off: when Moore took the stage at today's PlayStation Experience keynote, he said the downloads only last until midnight Pacific tomorrow night -- hopefully you have some free space on your Sony console of choice. If not, well, there's still time to make room.

Swathed in sleek nostalgia, the 20th Anniversary PlayStation 4 simultaneously represents Sony's modern ambitions and its off-grey beginnings. It's a promotional item, a physical brand ambassador and a $500 cultural artifact all rolled into one. So, it's the sort of thing that calls for an unboxing gallery on a video game website.
Of course, Joystiq will be giving this pristine PlayStation away soon. The package has been slightly touched during photography, but it's just half the prize: the eventual winner stands the chance of lifting an eyelash from it, cloning one of us, commandeering our lives and receiving the 30th Anniversary PlayStation 5 for an unboxing gallery in 2024! Isn't that exciting?!

"Sorry we're late!" Sony's Playstation 4 and Vita will enter China's marketplace on January 11th, 2015, over three months after the Xbox One arrived there. The consoles will cost 2,899 and 1,299 yuan respectively (about $470 and $210), considerably less than the Xbox One's 3,699 yuan sticker ($600 sans Kinect). Sony also revealed upcoming titles specifically for the Chinese market, in line with its commitment to provide "healthy games that are suitable to China's national conditions... as according to the relevant government policies." It's also working with a Chinese partner called OPCD and likely had to comply with government standards to smooth the way for Playstation devices. For nearly 12 years, consoles have been banned in the nation, though they're relatively easy to obtain on the gray market.

It's 10:30am on a cold Wednesday morning. A small crowd gathers outside an unassuming grey shop in the middle of Bethnal Green Road, London. Four multi-coloured neon symbols suddenly come into view -- it's 1994 all over again and I'm suddenly feeling nostalgic.
It's been hard to miss, but it's been two decades since the OG PlayStation went on sale. To celebrate, Sony's returned to its retro roots, and the gaming public are loving it. It started with the unveiling of the 20th Anniversary Limited Edition PS4, which sold out in minutes in the US, moving on to a retro-inspired theme for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PS Vita owners. To mark the console's UK launch, it's opened this new pop-up PlayStation store in Central London.

Sony would, of course, like you to see its PlayStation Plus service as a bargain, but how much value does it really add to your gaming life? Well, according to data compiled by UK publication Push Square, quite a lot, actually. After combing through the 2014 selection of games offered as part of the service's Instant Game Collection, Push Square reports that Sony offered $1,349.29 worth of games in North America, and £960.64 worth of games in Europe.
Now, there are some caveats to this data. While the games themselves are free to add to your collection and free to play while you have a current PS Plus subscription ($50 for a year in the US), once your subscription lapses you'll lose access to said games. Push Square's numbers also do not separate games by system, so you only got the full, $1,349.29 value of games if you owned a PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and a PlayStation Vita.
Still, considering that the average monthly Metacritic score (factoring in all games) was 79 for the US and 78 in Europe, as well as the fact that PS Plus also grants subscribers access to discounts, giveaways, Share Play and online multiplayer on PS4, it's not a bad deal. And that's how you (possibly) saved more than $1,200 in 12 months on your game collection.

Sony has revealed how UK gamers will be able to buy the country's remaining stock of 20th Anniversary EditionPlayStation 4 consoles.
194 of the consoles were sold last week at a pop-up shop in London, and now Sony has detailed how users will be able to obtain one of the remaining units.
The process is rather elaborate, however, so here are the instructions directly from Sony:
1. Follow @PlayStationUK or @GAMEDigital on Twitter.
2. From Monday 15th at 11am you can head to eu.playstation.com/20yearsofcharacters and take a look at our fantastic image containing over 300 characters from PlayStation history. Study the image well and make sure you know your PlayStation characters.
3. At an allocated time each day @PlayStationUK and @GAMEDigital will tweet a clue using the hashtag #20YearsOfCharacters.
4. Solve the clue, find the character it corresponds to, zoom in so the blue cross appears and click it, if you are correct you will be given a link which will take you to a secret website by GAME. *Please note that the page will need to be refreshed at the given time before the daily link will be updated.
5. Once on the page please fill out the form with the details required. If you are in the first 100 people to submit the form you will receive an email from GAME within 24 hours of the link going live, giving you all the details you'll need to purchase your PlayStation 4 20th Anniversary Edition Console. Don't worry if you aren't in the first 100, every person who completes the form on the page before it closes will be entered into a daily prize draw and one person will be chosen at random to win a PlayStation 4 20th Anniversary Edition Console.
The consoles will be available on a first come first served basis with GAME via the application page, they will not be available from GAME.co.uk. Don't worry if you miss it, there will be a new allocation of stock every day from Monday until Friday next week giving you five separate chances to pick-up the PlayStation 4 20th Anniversary Edition Console.
Want to know when we will be tweeting? Take a look below and get ready (all times in GMT)-
Monday 4pm
Tuesday 5pm
Wednesday 2pm
Thursday 8am
Friday 12pm Sony stresses that GAME will only send these consoles out to UK addresses, as the UK has a set allocation of systems and this will ensure only Brits get them. Just 12,300 Anniversary Edition PS4s will be released worldwide.
"The volume is a close match with the original production run on PlayStation, so it's got a nice heritage story," PlayStation UK boss Fergal Gara said last week. "They're very rare and they're very special. If you put it into mass production you dilute that. So right now, that's it. I'm not aware of any plans to change that."

When Plex first arrived on the Xbox One, we figured it would only be a matter of time before the service made its debut on the PlayStation 4. It's taken two months, but finally the company has released an app for Sony's latest console, giving Plex Pass subscribers another way to stream their favorite shows and movies on their TV. It's begun rolling out in Europe and Asia, but we suspect it'll reach the US PlayStation Store soon enough.

A widely publicised exploit that has allowed anyone to enter the ballot to buy a 20th Anniversary PS4 is to be shored up by Sony.
Yesterday one grumpy gamer published a post entitled "Hacking the PlayStation competition" that allowed people to access the purchase form without jumping through the hoops of the competition process.
“This blog post details a simple exploit that allows you to get hold of the secret form URL within seconds of the page going live,” author Dean Wild said. “I’ve published this information because this competition has been a complete scandal with people cheating and sharing the links on forums and twitter.
“My goal is to force Sony to shut down this shambles and distribute the consoles in a fairer way. Of course, they might just plug the hole so don’t be surprised if this exploit stops working.
"This was a pretty feeble attempt by Sony UK to make a fair and secure competition. This hack took me about an hour to knock up. Now this is out in the open is Sony going to try a little harder? Why don’t you stop this farce of a competition and raffle the consoles off for free? Also, buy some more servers you f*****g amateurs."
Now Sony has told Eurogamer that additional security measure have been put in place.
“We launched [the competition] with the intention of giving our true fans the best opportunity of purchasing the PS4 20th Anniversary Edition console," the company said.
"Unfortunately we are now aware of some users attempting to run programmes to reveal the URL early and give themselves an unfair advantage. Users we identify as using these tactics will be disqualified from the process and will continue to be. Since reports of this behaviour surfaced we have been adding additional encryptions and will continue to do so in advance of the final clue tomorrow."

UK games retailers expect the showdown between PS4 and Xbox One in 2015 to go down to the wire.
In MCV’s annual retail survey, 55 per cent of respondents tipped PS4 to end next year on-top, while 41 per cent backed Xbox One (the remainder went for other hardware).
Yet everyone surveyed anticipated that 2015 will not be anywhere near as one-sided as this year has been.
“It’s been all PlayStation for most of 2014,” said one store manager. “But 2015 it will be neck-and-neck. It’s tough to call.”
Last year, PS4 took 78 per cent of the vote, versus just 10 per cent for Xbox One.
The figures are part of MCV’s annual survey of UK retail store managers, which you can read more about right here.
The PlayStation 4 has been outselling the Xbox One for most of 2014, but Microsoft’s hardware saw a surge in momentum during the key Christmas sales period thanks to a number of key releases, bundles and price activity.

The PlayStation 4 is in high demand for the second holiday season in a row, according to Sony Computer Entertainment Europe CEO Andrew House. Without offering specific sales numbers, House told Reuters that the console is potentially "going to be quite inventory challenged." Shipments for the PS4 reached 13.5 million consoles as of the end of October.
"I'm not going to say you won't be able to find a PlayStation 4," House added. "I think it's going to be kind of hand to mouth in terms of that market." The CEO noted that sales for the system in December were in line with Sony's projections, though it was a "tougher" month thanks to the $50 holiday price cut by its main competitor in the United States, Microsoft's Xbox One. While its gaming division is thriving, Sony upped its loss forecast to $2 billion in September due to struggling smartphone sales and opted to not renew its FIFA sponsorship at the beginning of this month to spend more money on structural reforms.

Hykem’s work Vitasploit seems to have rallied all developers of the Vita Webkit exploit (which works, do we need to remind it, up to firmware 3.18), and this week it received a fairly large update.
With new work from Hykem, @BBalling1 (Codelion), and MrNetrix, the latest commit includes functions to do memory allocation, check the gyroscope coordinates, get touch screen input and analog stick coordinates, as well as some graphics memory allocation.
you might remember BBalling1’s proof of concept of the gyroscope tracking in action last week (video below), well this is basically what this commit contains, to let everyone play with these new findings.

NES/GBA/GB/Lynx/PC Engine/PC-FX/Wonderswan/Genesis/SNES/VirtualBoy/PS1 emulator has been updated recently. Changes:
- Fixed some issues causing compilation errors on gcc 4.7.x.
- Conditionalize the compilation of shared hardware emulation components(such as 68K, Z80, YM2612, etc. emulators) based on what emulation modules are being compiled in, since support for loading external emulation modules never went anywhere, and if we do eventually add support for it, the exported symbols won't include the common specific hardware emulation components.
- Fixed some code causing compiler errors with clang 3.4.0.
- Fixed broken loading of save states made with 0.9.37+ on big-endian platforms(0.9.37 regression).
- fflush() before fstat() on the underlying file descriptor in FileStream::size() if the stream is open for writing.
- Added zlib type-size sanity tests to tests.cpp
- _LARGEFILE64_SOURCE and _LARGEFILE_SOURCE are now defined to "1" in config.h, for zlib purposes.
- PSX: Avoid undefined behavior(that wasn't currently causing any problems) in the CPU core.
- PSX: Clamp final SPU output samples(before volume adjustment and resampling) properly; lack of it wasn't causing any problems per-se, but it could have been an issue in the future.
- GB: Load GBC custom palette from "gbc.pal", not "gb.pal"(0.9.37 regression).

lastGAME Customizer 1.4.3
-------------------------
This tool takes advantage of the customization options that multiMAN's lastGAME applet offers,
allowing to create PKG files that mount games, PS1 games and AVCHD movies directly from the XMB,
without having to launch multiMAN's GUI (btw lastGAME = multiMAN without GUI).
Features:
- Current version supports lastGAME 11
11.0: loads the new multiMAN's payload on 3.55 CEX/DEX, 4.21 CEX/DEX, 4.30 CEX/DEX, 4.31 CEX, 4.40 CEX/DEX, 4.41 CEX/DEX, 4.46 CEX/REX/COBRA, 4.50 CEX/DEX, 4.53 CEX, 4.55 CEX (requires multiMAN 04.55.01+ for PSX)
4.1: loads Hermes payload for firmwares 3.41, 3.55, 4.21, 4.30 (multiMAN is not required)- Current version supports lastGAME 4.1.
- Allows to connect to PS3 via FTP to retrieve the list of games installed on HDD or on external devices
- Supports drag & drop of multiple folders (x:/GAMES) to create the PKGs instantly
- Supports command line interface (CLI)
- Allows to mount ISOs (PS2, PSP, PSX, DVD, BDM) and load remote backups (Cobra dongle is required)
- Support direct boot (certain games only). Games that require BD mirror are now supported in lastGAME8.
IMPORTANT: For CFW 4.46 COBRA, 4.53 COBRA and 4.55 COBRA you must select the lastGAME for Cobra
PS3WebTemp 1.1
--------------
This is a small semi-transparent web window that stays always on top. It can connect to your PS3 console to monitor the CPU and RSX information.
Requires webMAN 1.18 or later running on a 4.46 COBRA 7.0 compatible CFW. The plugin and instructions are included in the XMB Manager+ (mod).
New in 1.1: Added more webMAN options to the popup menu when you right click on the Connect button.
Create PS3_EXTRA 1.3.3
----------------------
This tool scans for the PKG, MP4 and P3T files copied to each game folder, its PS3_UPDATE folder, PKGDIR or PS3_CONTENT,
and store them under a PS3_EXTRA structure.
When a game is mounted with multiMAN, there will be 2 BD icons on the XMB:
one disc for the game itself and another with PKGs, MP4 and P3T.
It should make it easier to install the game patches, DLC, fixes, and related videos,
due they will be listed in a neat menu like the one used by "PStore news" (big squares of 486x405 pixels).
How to use:
-----------
1) First put the pkg's at the root of your game folder (eg: BLES00000).
2) Run Create_PS3_EXTRA.exe
3) Click the browse button in the top right corner [...]
4) Select the "GAMES" folder that contains the games with the pkg's eg: x:\GAMEZ and then click the OK button
5) Now tick or untick the folders you want or don't want the app to process
6) Click the Start button
7) Close the program
8) Open the folder eg: BLES00000 folder
9) Now your folder should contain a folder called PS3_EXTRA
10) All the pkg's should have automatically been renamed and moved to the PS3_EXTRA folder
11) Launch the game using multiMAN
12) On the xmb menu you should now see 2 disc icon's. The top disc icon is the actual game, The bottom disc icon is the dlc/update pkg's.
13) Click on the bottom disc icon to see and install the dlc/updates
CreateHardLink 1.1.1
--------------------
Do you need a copy of your giant ISO, virtual HDD, movies or any other file in a another folder (e.g. for network share) and don't want to waste the extra hard disk space? This Win32 tool (inspired tool on multiMAN's mmOS shadow copy feature) lets you create a "hard link copy" of your files stored on NTFS drives without expend the extra HDD space.
IMPORTANT: A symbolic links to directories are "shortcuts" that behave like a path redirection. A "hard link copy" is the same original file just with another file name. Any modification made to one file will be reflected on all the other copies. Hard links don't work on multiple volumes or hard drives formatted in FAT32.
[+] Installation & Usage
Installation:
Run the CreateHardLink.exe as "administrator" at least once to register the "Paste Hard Link" option in Explorer context menu for files and folders.
If you run it holding Ctrl key, it will be registered as a Extended menu option (that only appears using Shift+Right click).
A .reg file is included to remove the option from Explorer. It's suggested to run it prior the registration as a context menu option.
Usage:
1. Select the items to be copied (e.g. ISO files, movies, folders, etc.) and press Ctrl+C to copy
2. browse to desired directory where we want the 'virtual copy'
3. right click on any file or folder and select 'Paste Hard Link' from context menu
4. Done.
Hard link for files only work in the same NTFS volume. Folder links works with different NTFS volumes. For different volumes 'Directory Junction' is suggested, instead of the default 'Symbolic Link'.
A 'Directory Junction' is created holding Shift or Ctrl key when we select 'Paste Hard Link' option.
With 'Directory Junction' or 'Symbolic Links' you can "copy" (it really redirects) an entire folder to another folder (e.g. you can redirect your games in JB format, music folders, movies, ISOs, etc. to the share folder for PS3 NET Server)
Indeed PS3 NET Server is the main reason why I made this tool... It could be done also with mklink command, but many users don't know about it or could find it cumbersome to do it through the command line.
PSISO Tool GUI
--------------
It's a GUI for CaptainCPS-X tool. The tool patches PS3 ISOs that not were created with genPS3ISO or multiMAN.
Bruteforce EBOOT 1.3.1
----------------------
This tool is more an EXPERIMENT than a real key finder... a 128bit key is expected to take milleniums to bruteforce it,
but if you are extremely LUCKY you could find a rifkey using this method. Anyway, I'm sharing this because a friend asked me to make it to have some fun.
The tool generates random or sequential values and uses MAGIC333X's bruteforce tool to test thousands or millions of rifkeys per second.
New in this release:
- Added option to open the EBOOT by drag & drop of the file
Bruteforce Edat 1.2.1
---------------------
It's a dev klicensee bruteforcer that can be used to find the klicensee used on edat files.
It uses BuC's dev klicensee validator to test the potential keys and the superfast JjKkYu's EDAT dev_klic bruteforcer tool.
New in this release:
- BruteForce_List_Edat_Klicensees -> Added listing of the RAP in HEX format (if the rap file exists in the RAPS folder) (thank to ZOMBIEKILLAH for the idea)
Special thanks to Catalinnc for his awesome contribution discovering the dev klicensees!
Scetool/BruteForce 2.4.01
------------------------
A klicensee finder using scetool (based on Asure's brute force script) with heuristic algorithms for brute force attack.
Once it finds the klicensee, the tool resign the EBOOT/SPRX/SELF with 3.55/3.40 keys. It also includes my FixELF tool
and uses the tool by MAGIC333X (v1.3.1) for faster klicensee detection.
Changes: updated key set
PS3 HDD GUI 1.3

The tool is a simple on-the-fly decrypter and ufs2 reader that allows to browse the content of your gameos (dev_hdd0)
and copy files and folders to PC.
PS3 HDD will only read (Nothing is written to the PS3 HDD, so it should be very safe). PS3 HDD for Slim and FAT models are now supported.

New in version 1.2: Added 4 sync modes for the selected folders:
PS3 -> PC -> PS3 (default): Transfer the new files and updated files from PS3 to PC. The additional files found on the PC are transfer back to the PS3.
PC -> PS3 -> PC: Transfer the new files and updated files from PC to PS3. The additional files found on the PS3 are transfer to the PC.
PS3 -> PC: Transfer only the new files and updated files from PS3 to PC.
PC -> PS3: Transfer only the new files and updated files from PC to PS3.
PS3 ConsoleID 1.0.4
-------------------
This tool displays the PSID and the ConsoleID from a bkpps3.bin or from a LV1 or LV2 dump created using multiMAN's mmOS or Rebug's Toolbox.
How to use:
Make a dump of your bkpps3.bin, LV1 or LV2 and drap & drop the dump file on the tool's window.
It will show the PSID, idps, Target ID and PS3 model found in the bkpps3.bin, LV1 or LV2.
You can drag & drop a dump of your NOR flash too.
PSP2PS3 2.1.2 "mod"
-------------------
Based on the awesome scripts created by szczuru, and the tools created by Pink1, arnold (swapperneger), zecoxao, tpu, doobz, among others devs.
This "mod" tries to streamline the process of conversion of PKG/ISO/CSO/PBP to PSP package for PS3.
Latest version has improved compatibility thanks to a new process for resigning EBOOT suggested by Celebratesparta and the addition of PSP Remasters, thanks to doobz.

PS3 Edat Tool GUI 1.0
---------------------
It's a revamped and easy to use GUI for the command line EdatTool recently released.
Now you can resign your Edats in an easy way.
Note: Some edats require a Dev Klic that can be obtained using Bruteforce Edat.
PS2 Classic GUI 2.0
-------------------
It's a frontend for the recently released PS2Classic tool developed by psdev-net team.
The tool allows to decrypt PS2 Classics for PS3 and encrypt any PS2 to play on PS3 (fat/slim).

If the content.md5 is present in the folder, the program reports if any file was deleted, added or changed. This tool is very useful to check if your game has corrupted files due due bad sectors, virus or cross-links (which are very common when an USB device is removed from the PS3 while it is turned on).
New in 1.3.1: Fixed a bug introduced in 1.3 with the log files per folder.

Boxing Day, the festive day following Christmas in which folks shop even more is upon us, friends. To celebrate, Sony will offer Canadian players a new PS4 bundle that includes two games. For $450, players can pick up the 500 GB PS4 console with NHL 15 (because Canada) and LittleBigPlanet 3 this Friday, December 26. Pre-orders for the Boxing Day bundle open on Wednesday, and it will be available through "major retailers."
Canada's Boxing Day bundle's value compares fairly well to previous ones: Sonyoffered a PS4 for $400 earlier this month that packed in the buyer's choice of one game out of four options, LittleBigPlanet 3 being one of them. Walmart later sweetened that deal by tacking a $50 gift card onto the offer. While NHL 15wasn't received well at its launch due to a number of missing modes, some of which returned in via patches, the platforming sequel starring Sackboy did get praise inour review for its "vibrant and inviting" world.

It's not exactly red-nosed, but we'd say Japan's new PS4 glows. The red-and-black system is coming to the country on March 19, 2015 alongside HD-ified action-RPGFinal Fantasy Type 0.
Sony unveiled the new livery over the weekend, and today it became available for pre-order in limited quantities. The asking price is 46,980 yen (around $392) plus tax, and for that you get the special system, a matching DualShock 4 and 15 days of PS Plus. It also comes with codes for Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, the Episode Duscae demo of FF 15 and a unique PS4 theme.

The brave new online, socially-connected world of video games is not quite proving as revolutionary as we had hoped.
So this Christmas a group that call themselves Lizard Squad claim to have brought down PlayStation Network and Xbox Live (via the old DDoS attack), which effectively rendered both PS4 and Xbox One useless.
It’s quite a significant issue. There was an astronomical number of both consoles sold throughout the UK over the last six weeks. Many of them were wrapped up and nestled under the tree yesterday.
Not that I’ve bought into the hyperbole in the national press. Parents claiming ‘Christmas has been ruined’ and ‘worst Christmas ever’ might need a bit of perspective. I’m sure if you could afford to buy your child a £350 games console, you can always find something else to occupy their Christmas Day outside of the traditional festive pastime of shooting people in the face. Perhaps they could eat a mince pie, drink a glass of Bucks Fizz, and watch a bit of Doctor Who with the family.
I also don’t follow the angry mums and dads who are blaming this on Sony and Microsoft. Yes, perhaps these companies could build bigger walls around their networks (I don't actually know), but all that really does is force the hackers to build bigger ladders. If the likes of Lizard Squad want to spend their Christmas Day ruining it for others, then they will. And until the authorities start dishing our serious sentences for such anti-social behaviour, there’s little anyone can do about it.
But that’s not to belittle the issue. It has been another dark day for the new online age for video games. So perhaps now is the time to try and alleviate this industry’s over-reliance on the internet.
I hate to sound like the sort of old person that will ask: “Hey, do you remember the good old days when games just worked without the need for endless patches and updates?’ but… hey, do you remember the good old days when games consoles just worked without the need for endless patches and updates?
I think it’s neat that this Christmas marked the 20th anniversary of PlayStation. Because on Christmas 1994, when gamers unwrapped their first PlayStation and plugged in Ridge Racer, after a brief loading screen, it worked. Fast-forward 20 years, when gamers plugged in Destiny into their PS4s, it didn’t.
I believe in the socially-connected, online future for video games. What we’ve seen from Destiny and Forza and Watch Dogs and all the rest is something worth getting excited about. But if this industry’s online infrastructure is going to continually suffer set-backs and come under attack, perhaps we shouldn’t be quite so quick to abandon the offline world.
It is actually one of these moments when Nintendo’s slightly archaic way of making games is a benefit. 3DS and Wii U both allow for updates, but they’re never required. You can plug in your Wii U and Mario Kart 8 and play away without any problems. The updates that are available will improve things, but if you don’t have time to download or if your (or Nintendo’s) online service isn’t working, you can still play.
So next year, perhaps developers and publishers should consider doing a couple of things differently. Namely:
1. Day One patches that improve the game but isn't needed to fix it. It’s simply not good enough if the disc that’s on the shelf doesn’t work without an update.
2. Games that are built for this online-connected future, but are also jolly good without the internet, as well.
This way, when the likes of Lizard Squad want to come along and spoil Christmas for millions, all they’re doing is forcing those people to play their games offline.
And while everyone is still enjoying their new Christmas gifts, Lizard Squad’s members can do nothing but sit there alone, on Christmas Day, scratching their heads, wondering why no-one is listening to them anymore.

Sony and Samsung are jointly launching the PlayStation Now game streaming service on select Samsung Smart TVs next year. The service will allow users to play PlayStation games without the need of a gaming console. From the article: "...Sony says some 200 PlayStation 3 games will be available to stream, and that the service runs at full functionality, specifically mentioning things like trophies, online multiplayer and cloud-saves for game-progress. Sound familiar? It should because that's how the service works on Bravia TVs and PlayStation game consoles. What's more, all you'll need is one of Sony's DualShock 4 gamepads to control the action."

Three days after Lizard Squad's latest denial of service attack knocked the PlayStation Network offline (and Xbox Live, we'd add), the internet gaming service is gradually getting back on its feet. Sony now says that PSN should be up and running for all of its consoles. While the company warns that there might be some "intermittency" as it gets back into the swing of things, you theoretically won't face major interruptions during that big Destiny raid. It's not clear if Sony's infrastructure will be any better at weathering future digital assaults on this scale; given that the attack was supposedly three times larger than the previous record-setter, this probably isn't a permanent fix. However, it's good to know that you can squeak in at least some online gaming onthat shiny new PS4 before the holidays are over.
