North American Vita owners are going to be busy this fall, with two RPGs and a mystery-centered adventure on the way from NIS America. IGN reports thatDisgaea 4: A Promise Revisited will lead the effort on August 12, followed by the narrative-focused Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair on September 2, leaving Compile Heart's Fairy Fencer F to be released on September 23. Each game will retail for $40.
While Disgaea 4 is a port of the existing PS3 game, it will offer "brand-new scenarios," all of the PS3 version's DLC, new characters and cameos from the casts of previous Disgaea games. Similar to the style of its predecessor,Danganronpa 2 is an adventure game that follows a highschool student's handling of life-or-death situations. Lastly, Fairy Fencer F is a new, turn-based RPG with character art by Tsunako. It also incorporates concept art by Yoshitaka Amano and music by Nobuo Uematsu, both of Final Fantasy fame.
That just leaves the PS3's Battle Princess of Arcadias to be scheduled, which was assigned a general 2014 release window with the other games earlier this year.

Sony has detailed its upcoming PlayStation 4 system update 1.70, which will allow you to pre-load games ahead of release and edit captured footage with the new SHAREfactory app. You'll soon be able to download digital games that you've pre-ordered before their release, meaning that you won't have to wait to play it. As with Steam, titles automatically unlock on release day.The new video editor app SHAREfactory, meanwhile, appears very similar to Microsoft's own Upload Studio for Xbox One. You can edit and trim gameplay clips, plus apply text, stickers and video commentary if you have a PlayStation Camera.Unlike Upload Studio it will also allow you to import your own music to videos.Once your video is complete, system update 1.70 will then let you export your gameplay to a USB drive for the first time. And for those who like to capture gameplay using an external device such as an Elgato, you'll be pleased to know that 1.70 will also remove the PS4's HDCP block and let you record directly from your HDMI output. There's no release date yet for the update, but Sony says it is coming "soon".

April 18th, 2014, 00:14 Posted By: wraggster
Juventus and Italy midfielder Andrea Pirlo has confessed his love for PlayStation in his new autobiography.
“After the wheel, the PlayStation is the best invention of all time,” he wrote, according to an extract printed by The Guardian. “I can't say with any certainty how many virtual matches I've played over the last few years but, roughly speaking, it must be at least four times the number of real ones.
“Pirlo vs [Alessandro] Nesta was a classic duel back in our [AC] Milan days. We'd get in early, have breakfast at 9am and then shut ourselves in our room and hit the PlayStation until 11. Training would follow, then we'd be back on the computer games until four in the afternoon. Truly a life of sacrifice.
“Our head-to-heads were pure adrenaline. I'd go Barcelona and so would Sandro. Barca vs Barca. The first player I'd pick was the quickest one, Samuel Eto'o, but I'd still end up losing a lot of the time. I'd get pissed off and hurl away my controller before asking Sandro for a rematch. And then I'd lose again.”
Pirlo also compared playing on a PlayStation to football management, citing former Barcelona boss and current Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola.
“Being a philosopher is to think, seek wisdom and have principles that guide and influence what you do,” he pondered. “Guardiola has taken all that and applied it to football, an imperfect science. He racked his brains and dispersed the fog, more through hard work than mere thought.
“What he's achieved hasn't been about miracles, rather a gentle programming of his players. It's virtual reality mixed with real life; a swim between the shores of fantasy and reality with Estiarte by his side. In other words, we're talking PlayStation.”

Sony has revealed more details of its next firmware update for PS4.
The 1.70 update will introduce something called SHAREfactory, a video editor app that allows for the combining of clips and the addition of effects, text, stickers, custom music and audio, as well as video commentary.
Gameplay increments will also become customisable and, as previously promised, it will also be possible to turn off HDCP for direct HDMI video capture. The results of all gameplay recordings can then be exported to a USB stick.
Also coming is the ability to pre-load PSN digital purchases ahead of release “several days prior to release”. Users can also opt to have these downloads trigger automatically as soon as available.
PS3 pre-loads have been possible for select titles in Europe for a while but this will be the fist time they have been made available on PS4, and in the US.
Other 1.70 features will be revealed in time.

PlayStation 4 owners in Japan will have the option to stream gameplay to Niconico, a site that lets users upload, view and share video clips, starting April 30, Sony announced (as translated by Gematsu). Those visiting the Nico Nico Super Conference 3 on April 26 and April 27 will be able to test the streaming functionality in person before it arrives via firmware update. While the two updates may not be related, the upcoming 1.70 firmware for the console brings the ability to save videos and screenshots to a USB drive.
The PS4 launched in Japan in February, selling 322,083 units in its opening weekend. According to a translation of the Niconico's website, it will begin offering free one-month trials for PS4 users shortly. The streaming service carries a monthly fee of about $5; it is unclear if the service will require a PlayStation Plus subscription as well.

April 17th, 2014, 23:56 Posted By: wraggster
Sony has announced that its upcoming series of PlayStation Now-compatible 4K "Ultra HD" Bravia televisions, first revealed at CES 2014, will launch in June. A total of nine models from three series will hit the market with prices ranging from a $2,099 (49") to $24,999 (85").
With the ability to access Sony's upcoming PlayStation Now service, the Bravia sets will be able to stream PS3 games and play with a DualShock 3 controller(which, for the price, you'd hope would be included, but Sony's press release doesn't specify). The foundation for PlayStation Now is Gaikai, the games streaming service Sony purchased for $380 million in 2012.
Sony is one of many television manufacturers that continues to push HD technology into the 4K future. Ultra HD 4K televisions (also simply known as UHD TV) claim to deliver four times the picture resolution of standard 1080p sets; 4K televisions increase pixel count per image from two million to eight million.
"We strongly believe 4K is the future for entertainment and we remain committed to leading the 4K movement, from lens to living room, in a way that only a company like Sony can," said Mike Fasulo, president at Sony Electronics.

Sales of Sony's PlayStation 4 have exceeded 7 million worldwide, the manufacturer announced today. Games are going along with them, according to internal estimates from Sony Computer Entertainment, selling to the tune of over 20.5 million copies as of early April. This figure includes retail sales in addition to those made online.
Major releases on PlayStation 4 ($399.99) and its competitor, Xbox One ($499.99), are still sporadic, roughly six months after their November launches. However, both are beefing up their portfolios with independent games, and both are coming off well-received flagships: Titanfall and Infamous: Second Son.
The PlayStation 4 is also pursuing a virtual reality component in Project Morpheus, while Microsoft is lining up Xbox One with the likes of Steven Spielberg in its television spinoff, Xbox Entertainment Studios.

The Last of Us Remastered release date is being listed as June 20 2014 by multiple US retailers including Target andBest Buy.
Sony has yet to announce an official launch date for the recently revealed PS4 exclusive, but quotes attributed to a Turkish PlayStation spokesperson in March suggested the Naughty Dog game was beingreadied for release this summer.
In late March, Spanish retailer Xtralife also began carrying an online listing for The Last of Us PS4 with a June 19 release date.
The title will feature a number of improvements over 2013's The Last of Us for PS3, with Naughty Dog targeting 60fps.
Studio co-president Evan Wells says: "The graphical fidelity has been turned up to 11, we've got 1080p, we're pushing the draw distances further, we're creating higher resolution character models, better lighting, better shadows."
The Last of Us was hailed by CVG readers as the Game of the Generation, while the editorial team voted it third in the era.
Naughty Dog creative director Druckmann has said there's a 50/50 chance that a The Last of Us sequel will be developed.

Sony has unveiled its new 4K Media Player, which holds an uncanny resemblance to the PlayStation 4.
The grooved black box has a flat front rather than the angled edges of the PS4, but otherwise follows the same design.Catchily named the Sony FMP-X10, the device is due to release this summer for an as-yet unannounced price, Sony has announced (thanks, Videogamer).Obviously you'll need a 4K-compatible TV, too.1TB of storage comes as standard - handy for downloading large 4K files. You'll also be able to stream 4K content from Sony's Video Unlimited Service and Netflix. There's still no word on Sony introducing 4K media support to the PlayStation 4, although prior to launch the company stated that such a feature was "in consideration".

A purported list of games currently being tested onPlayStation Now has emerged online, showing improved loading times for each title.
PlayStation now was first revealed in JanuaryNews site DualShockers claims to have been given verifiable data which lists many of the games currently being tested on PlayStation's game streaming service. These include:
- Shadow of the Colossus
- WipeOut HD
- Dead Nation
- PixelJunk Monsters
- Shatter
- Guacamelee!
- Disgaea 4
- Dead or Alive 5
- Critter Crunch
- Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond
- Zeno Clash II
- Earth Defense Force: Insect Armageddon
- Puzzle Quest: Galactrix
- Rise of the Guardians
- Dead Island
- Payday: The Heist
- Order Up!!
- Alien Rage
- Real Steel
This new list does not confirm these games will appear as part of the PlayStation Now service, though it does make them likely candidates.
Additional games, previously cited as part of the ongoing PlayStation Now beta in the US, included:
- Papo & Yo:
- Killzone 3
- Darksiders II
- MX vs. ATV: Alive
- Ninja Gaiden 3
- Puppeteer
Dualshockers also claimed that speed tests on each of the games showed a clear increase on loading times. In a previous test, many PlayStation Now games took as long as 50 seconds to load via servers, though on average that number appears to have been reduced by about ten seconds.
These tests may not be representative of the overall experience for many users as this one test cannot take into account other key data, such as location from servers and broadband speed.
PlayStation Now is colloquially referred to as "a games Netflix"; the service grants users access to various PlayStation games from years past and previous console generations. Those games are initially playable on PS3, with support for Vita, PS4, tablet devices and Sony Bravia TVs also planned.
Much like with how OnLive works, games are streamed via server farms. The latency of the service remains a big challenge for Sony to overcome.
PlayStation Now rentals recently surfaced on the PS Store by accident.

Today, developer Guerrilla Cambridge will unleash a new DLC pack for Killzone Mercenary, which adds offline multiplayer to the Vita shooter.
"With the purchase of the Botzone Soldier Training Pack, all of our multiplayer maps can be played offline in Mercenary or Guerrilla Warfare modes," a post on the PlayStation Blog from Guerrilla Cambridge' Tech Director, Matt Porter, revealed. With the new content, players can face off against up to seven AI soldiers.
Porter notes that, with the offline mode, players will have a chance to collect some of the portable game's "harder-to-obtain" multiplayer trophies.
Additionally, the content brings with it a mandatory update, which tackles some longer standing collision issues reported in the game's multiplayer maps. The free update will be available today. The BotZone DLC will be available to purchase on the PlayStation Store, but at the time of publishing, no price was made available for the content.
