Hope this is in the right place, sorry if it isn't.
I'm just wondering what sort of work is involved in editing an already existing cheat device? For example, one of the old Xploder V1 or something.
I mean editing and customising the interface that gets displayed on the ps2, changing the encryption of the codes (Hex on Xploder), etc.
As you can tell I'm new here, I'm interested in this though but I don't wanna get annoying and start stepping on peoples toes. This would never be for public distribution or anything that I think would antagonize Blaze, it's just for home use.
Thanks for any info you can give me!

Some interesting next-gen gossip has been sent my way by a reliable source. As we approach E3, the specs for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 are becoming more known among the developers, spurring some major chest thumping and “My CPU is bigger than your CPU” talk.
The consensus among these learned types is that the two systems have comparable GPUs despite using different companies (ATI and NVidia), but that the CPUs are a completely different story.
Word from the geek is that the PS3’s CPU is about three times faster than the Xbox 360’s CPU. While this seems like a clear cut victory for Sony, it does little to end the constant debate about which system will be able to provide better games. The problem with Sony’s super-fast CPU is that not all of its power may actually be usable in games. Bottom line: There could be a lot of extraneous horsepower under the PS3’s hood that’s mainly for show, not actual gaming.

I don't know if I should link this to the Xbox360 forum as well but as of right now these are PS3 shots.
The Xbox360 version is going to receive "minor upgrades across the board". Take that as you will...
The game is called 2 days to Vegas and is being created by a Russian developer known as Steel Monkeys.
Once again, this info is from a reliable source. Enjoy the pics!
Any thoughts on what "minor upgrades across the board" could mean? I'm stumped here. This is a first gen game and look at it!

After completing San Andreas my three-year-old ps2 has decided to give up. It now makes a strange grinding sound from the disc tray when I try to load a game and wont play any games or DVDs. Can anyone offer any advice on fixing the problem. It's not under waranty now so should I take it apart in a bid to get it working again?

With only hours to go before Sony's next-generation home console's expected unveiling in Los Angeles, few details of the system are widely known - but what we do know points to an intriguing piece of hardware.
The level of secrecy surrounding PS3 is in stark contrast to the situation with Xbox 360, where everything up to and including the final specification and pictures of the hardware had been leaked to the internet by the time the machine was officially announced.
However, a number of key details about PS3 are already known, and should be confirmed by the conference later today - such as the key role which Sony's Cell microprocessor will play in the architecture of the machine.
Cell, a co-development between Sony, Toshiba and IBM, is a new processor design based on IBM's Power series (which will also lie at the heart of Xbox 360 and Nintendo's Revolution), which features eight extremely fast vector units along with a Power core.
Although early reports suggested that PS3 would use four or even eight Cell CPUs, many developers now believe that the system may only have one - but rumours from those working on early development kits, which shipped to some of Sony's closest partners earlier this year, suggest that the system will still match or even outperform the multi-processor design being used by Microsoft for Xbox 360.
The graphics chip, meanwhile, is being created by NVIDIA, which means that PS3 will fully support pixel and vertex shaders - making life a lot easier for graphics programmers - and will do more of the hard work on the GPU, freeing up the CPU's vector units to do tasks like physics and AI.
Other rumours about the hardware strongly point to the existence of two different models, one a standard console system, and the other a high-end "media server" in the mould of the somewhat ill-fated PSX.
However, Sony has yet to even confirm that the system is called "PlayStation 3" - although the presence of hoardings around Los Angeles this weekend inviting us to "Welcome Chang3" tend to suggest that the firm is indeed sticking with the sequential numbering system.
Still one of the best indicators of Sony's intentions regarding the new machine is an interview from just over a year ago with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe president David Reeves, where he made a number of specific comments about PlayStation 3.
The following is a reprint of key parts of that article from our report at the time - although just how much the company's strategy for PS3 will have changed in the intervening year is not known, so it's impossible to tell how well these statements will tally with what's actually revealed in Los Angeles today.
On the topic of the PlayStation 3, [SCEE president David] Reeves revealed that the company is considering launching multiple versions of the next-generation console, catering for a variety of different requirements and price points.
A version of the console described as the "home server" version would follow in the footsteps of the PSX media system, with "all-singing, all dancing features with maybe a hard disk drive" and a retail price take of "whatever it might be, â‚ or â‚."
However, for those just seeking a new games machine rather than a fully fledged home media server, the company could offer a stripped down system catering to the needs of those who "just [want] to pay 200 Euros for a new generation games machine," Reeves said.
Reeves also confirmed that the company is investigating the possibility of electronic distribution of content over broadband for its next generation system - describing the pursuit of this as the "ultimate goal" for the PlayStation 3, and stating that Sony hopes to see always-on network access and viable broadband distribution in place when the PS3 becomes available in 2006.
"It's going to have to be 2 or 3MB, something like that," he said, speaking about connection sizes - which are currently generally at 512k (0.5MB) in most UK broadband-enabled homes. "Ken [Kutaragi]'s even talking about 30MB! And when it gets to that, then it is broadband distribution, and people then can just download whatever game they want. But it's got to be secure, and that's where DNAS [Sony's online security protocol] comes in."
Expect to see the first reports from Sony's conference appearing at around 11pm BST tonight.

I saw these earlier today and almost had a heart attack.
The first one i saw was the duck one. the physics are some of the best i have seen... ever. they drop alot of ducks... and... HOLY CRAP THEY DROP ALOT MORE DUCKS!!
the MOST stunning i saw was the doc oc one... the renders of his facial features tend to make you wonder if thats just a movie of some guys face or not. as impressive as just him by himself is... they display a whole city with rendering that could give the cg animators of any major motion picture movie a run for their money. I really recomend that you are sitting down when you view this one.
sony has certainly outdone them selves with both the psp and the upcoming ps3.

Looks like the PlayStation 3 may be shaping up to be one of the most expensive gaming consoles ever made, if rumours circulating in the Japanese press hold any water. Apparently, Sony officials said the PS3 would be going for “less than 50,000 yen each,” which is the equivalent of about $465USD — a whole lotta bling for a gaming system. We’re gonna have to start busting it overtime on that paper route.

Just a thought. Currently the worlds fastest super computer is Blue Gene/L which has the ability to perform 135.5 trillion operations per second. According to ign, the ps3 clocks in at 2.0 teraflops per second (even though most specs sheets say 1.8). Now the over 1000 processors. Mabey some crazy rich person might come up the idea of buying 100 PS3's hacking linux on them and clustering. That would not only top the worlds fastest super computer, but also would probably be much cheaper than the Blue Gene/L.

In what would represent a massive break with tradition for the company, Sony Computer Entertainment America boss Kaz Hirai has suggested that the PlayStation 3 may not launch in Japan first.
Hirai dismissed rumours that Sony has already decided to follow the console's Japanese launch with a US release in the autumn, telling the CNBC network: "We haven't determined which territory we will go with first this time around just yet.
"We will have to look at development and how things are coming along in terms of manufacture and all the other logistical things to determine which territory or multiple territories go first."
Which could of course mean a simultaneous worldwide launch, as Microsoft has planned for Xbox 360 this November.
Hirai isn't worried that MS will steal Sony's market share by getting in there first, however. "It is not being first in marketing, it is being able to provide a content palette that is going to grow the business," he said.
"We have had a leadership position in the past 10 years and come up against a different variety of companies. With the content support that we are getting from all of our third-party publishing partners, and the technology we pack into PlayStation 3, I'm confident we will keep that position another 10 years."
All of Sony's previous consoles have debuted in Japan before hitting US and European shores, the most recent example being the PSP - which has had its European launch delayed until September due to manufacturing shortages.

Samsung has won a seat inside the Sony Playstation 3 with the first 90nm 512 Megabit XDR chips. XDR stands for Extreme Data Rate (which should really be EDR, but X looks better in an acronym), which in turn stands for hot and fast memory for multimedia applications. At transmission speeds up to 9.6GB per second, these chips will fly about 12 times faster than DDR400 memory. They’re especially designed to handle maximum performance for applications requiring advanced imaging and 3D graphics. As a general rule, we approve of maximum performance. Carry on, Samsung.

Ok first off, hi to everyone.
I just moved over to Canada from the UK, now I spend more time with my xbox open, modding it than I do actually playing on my PS2. Now the voltage in the UK is 230v, in Canada its a measly 100v. Now I have a 30003 PS2, can I get an NTSC power supply to put into my UK PS2 so I can use it over here? Im not bothered about playing backups or the homebrew software, I just want to have the use of it. I know I can do this with my xbox and have already ordered my power supply. Any help is greatly appreciated.
PS If anyone is having trouble or needs any help with an xbox I can be contacted on grimreef@gmail.com and Im happy to lend a hand.

Before the network adapter was released, USB ethernet adapters were used to play certain games online (like Tony Hawk). Can these USB adapters still be used? I rather ship my USB adapter here instead of buying another network adapter.
