On top of giving away a beta key for DICE's Battlefield 3, EA has detailed the contents of its Medal Of Honor Limited Edition pack.
The publisher has confirmed that it will be offering buyers of the PS3 version a special treat - a free HD remastered version of MoH: Frontlines.
Despite 360 and PC fans not being offered the same bonus, EA has announced plenty of gun-based goodies in the LE across the consoles.
The pack will feature special content including the MP-7 - a weapon used by real-world Tier 1 Operators in the field - as well as two powerful shotguns with custom slugs.
An all-new Medal of Honor gameplay trailer, directed by Linkin Park's Joe Hahn, will air this Sunday.
The trailer will feature never-before-seen in-game footage set to the band's recently-announced single The Catalyst. We'll have it up on CVG, of course, but you can watch it through the link below, too.
Medal of Honor is due for release on October 12 in North America and October 15 in Europe on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

KNOWN ISSUES
I've been reported that PSP FATs doesn't show the menus properly, but allow to start the game (although you don't see what you select). This may be due to low memory of the PSP FAT. I'm trying to fix this, but it's difficult to fix. Hope you understand.

News via http://psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=64796
There has been alot of reports of "bricked" PS3's with the latest firmware, on the various US Playstation Forums.
Sony has been reported to have made this statement regarding this much heated topic:
Quote:
“We apologise for any inconvenience you are experiencing with upgrading internal HDD on your PS3,” it told Examiner. “The information available to our Consumer Services Department does not suggest that this is a problem PlayStation owners are likely to experience when upgrading the HDD with 3.41 update.
“SCEA strongly supports the quality of its products and backs them with full confidence. We ask that you update the previous HDD first to see if the update will go through. Then update from the thumb drive that is formatted in FAT 32 and has the 3.41 update downloaded.”
Personally I have see this myself, I have yet be able to replace the HDD, on a PS3 since this update, only been able to fully unbrick the PS3 unit, by wiping clean their original HDD that came with the unit since this update.

News via http://www.psp-hacks.com/2010/07/30/...-pops-support/
Y’all cheaters need to update right away if you’re using raing3′s PSPAR… In fact, forget the name PSPAR — it’s TempAR now — and TempAR just got a whole lot better. You’ll see what I mean by glancing over the TempAR v1.1 changes. I’m talking POP support, a NitePR code converter, plenty of fixes, and all around awesomeness.
Instructions:
Copy the whole TempAR directory to seplugins and add the appropriate line — ms0:/seplugins/TempAR/tempar.prx 1 — to game.txt.
Start your game and press the “Home” button twice followed by a simultaneous press of VOL UP + VOL DOWN.
Enable whatever cheats and press “Note” to activate ‘em.
Changes, download…
TempAR v1.1:
[+] Added POPS and homebrew support, thanks to Davee for information on getting the Game ID without the need for the daunting task of parsing the PARAM.SFO. Please note that homebrew PARAM.SFO files need to be patched so the Game ID isn’t the same for all homebrew. Also keep in mind that CWCheat POPS files are not compatible. The codes need to be in either PSPAR or CWCheat PSP format.
[+] Settings can now be saved so there is no need to re-configure on each load!
[+] Added support for loading from different cheat.db files.
[+] Added PC NitePR to PSPAR code converter.
[+] Added comment mode paramater to the PSPAR bin converter. Use 0 to prepend all comments with a # or 1 to prepend folders with _C1 and comments with _C2.
[+] Codes which have no code lines are highlighted and have no Y/N before their name. This is to allow for in-game comments.
[!] Fixed problem loading the colours from a file.
[!] Fixed screenshot option, forgot to set the option in the makefile, whoops.
[!] Fixed the 0xD1 PSPAR code type.
[?] Offset is only added to PSPAR conditional codes if the address used is 0.
[?] Added an aditional check to CWCheat pointer codes to help prevent a crash with bad codes and uninitialized pointers.
[?] Cheat device is now known as “TempAR”. “Temp” because GBAtemp is my online home and “AR” because it supports “AR” codes. To further expand on this the Temp is what CW is to CWCheat and AR I guess is what PR is to NitePR. Plus it can be pronounced temper woot! (thanks to xist for the suggestion).

News via http://www.psp-hacks.com/2010/08/01/...n-96-released/
What’s better than Half Byte Loader Revision 95? Revision 96! JJS, who you know from PSPdisp, made a guest appearance on R96 with a syscall-estimation trick improving overall performance. I won’t get into the technical details, but know this: your favourite emulators should now run at full speed without any specific configuration and homebrew in general should just work better. For example: Opera Mini on PSPKVM now works perfectly.
Below is another example showcasing both HBL R95 and R96 running Daedalus R13 “out of the box” (no specific configuration).

The management options offered are many , we may only activate the plugin for UMD games , or those assigned to a specific category (if we use the game categories ), or ISO which contain a special prefix or individually indicating GAME ID. The management is entrusted to the plugin file pergame.txt that will be read by pergame.prx each time you start an application.

News/release from NickyP
Mobile Suit Z-Gundam is one of my favorite animes, so naturally I'd make something about it at some point. This release is also my first official "shmup", as previous attempts were just proofs of concept.
This is a mod I've worked on for a while but then stopped working on it, so I've decided to release what I have so far. I have a bunch of other projects like that, so be on the lookout, might surprise you guys.
Anyways, I'll be adding this download link to my site soon. You guys know the drill: read that readme. Have fun everyone! Also, if you like what I do, why don't you follow NickyP Games on Facebook? Just sayin'! :P

WHA Entertainment, announced today a new lower price of $9.99 for Kick-Ass for the Sony PlayStation Network (PSN). The new lower price comes just in time for the release of the major motion picture on DVD and Blue Ray, which are both available starting tomorrow August 3rd. Kick-Ass is rated M for Mature by the ESRB.
Kick-Ass is a fully 3D action fighting game set in the third-person perspective, where the player can play and control modern day super heroes based on the super characters found in the film of the same name. Gamers will be able to play as the three primary characters in the film - Kick-Ass, Hit Girl, and Big Daddy. The story-driven game draws heavily from the strengths of the intellectual property; an action combat game where the characters finally grow sick of the crime around them, and decide that they will do something about it.
"One of the most popular action movies of the year, Kick Ass wowed both fans and critics and the DVD is sure to become a collector's item,"
said Howard Horowitz, Founder and CEO of WHA Entertainment, Inc. "We wanted to make sure the game is available to as many of the movie fans as possible so that is why we are making the move to this new lower price point for the game. Now all the fans out there can enjoy the supercharged action on PSN."
Featuring multiple environments within New York City, players will be faced with twelve story missions plus 2 bonus rounds and encounter frantic super hero action as they face petty thugs and powerful mob bosses. Players will also have a blast with sub-missions and mini-games, to add even more gameplay to the mix. Staying true to the intellectual property, the game will feature visceral combat and plenty of gore, as the player's main goal is to bring justice back to the city, no matter what the cost! The final mission ratchets up the action to an entirely new dimension, when players pilot the already-legendary jet pack from the movie's climactic final battle scene. Cut loose with twin Gatling guns, cutting down enemies in a barrage of hot lead and shattered glass - but don't forget to keep moving, or you'll be blown out of the sky in a hail of return fire and bazooka shells!
Featuring multiplayer local co-op gameplay, Kick-Ass brings an unsurpassed integration of missions given via friend requests from the FACESPACE social networking site. Bonus points also unlock the complete first edition of the Kick Ass comic book. Many additional Kick Ass game features to play and become a superhero!

Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ:ERTS) today revealed new details of the Medal of Honor Limited Edition that will be released in the UK on October 15, 2010. The Limited Edition* features a host of weapons, powerful ammunition and camouflage. The weapons and camouflage give players a tactical gameplay advantage on day one. EA also announced today that people who own the Medal of Honor Limited Edition will receive an invitation to the beta** for another highly-anticipated EA shooter, Battlefield 3TM. Battlefield 3 is the latest entry in the award-winning shooter franchise from DICE in Stockholm, Sweden.
This Sunday August 1, be sure to check out an all-new Medal of Honor gameplay trailer directed by Linkin Park’s Joe Hahn. The trailer will feature never-before-seen in-game footage set to the band’s recently-announced single ‘The Catalyst’ at www.medalofhonor.com/linkinpark. The most common complaint about 3D is that the glasses give you a headache, but that's not actually true, according to the man who teaches the pros how to make better 3D. Speaking at the BBC in London, Buzz Hays, chief instructor for the Sony 3D Technology Center in Culver City, California, explained: 'It's not the technology's fault, it's really the content that can cause these problems. It's easy to make 3D but it's hard to make it good — and by "good" I mean taking care to make sure that this isn't going to cause eyestrain.' He went on to detail some of the mistakes made by inexperienced 3D film makers, from poor composition of shots, through uncomfortable convergence settings, to overuse of on-set monitors without viewing their content on a big screen. But the biggest admission Buzz made was that not even the 'experts' know all the tricks yet, which is why 3D should only get better from here. In the same seminar, Buzz also explained why 3D glasses are here to stay — at least for the next few years."

Insomniac Games has teased fans with the possibility of a Resistance 3 reveal at German gameshow gamescom this month.
"It's been a long road since we launched Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time to your rave reviews last Fall. While we haven't had any new game content to show you since then, that's about to change in a big way," an Insomniac newlsetter read (posted by GamesOnSmash). "And yes, we realize we're announcing an announcement, and that we announced this newsletter announcement via a Twitter/Facebook announcement earlier this week. We feel a little bad about announcing the announcement of an announcement – but on the other hand, you're excited and so are we.
"With that, we're happy to reveal that we'll be announcing our newest game sometime between now and the Penny-Arcade Expo over Labour Day weekend. We're really excited to finally reveal this project, and we couldn't resist being the first to share the news with you. Even bigger news is that newsletter subscribers will be the first folks to see the trailer: the instant we announce the game – we'll be blasting a newsletter with the trailer for you to view at home."
"Couldn't resist", eh? How appropriate.
Gamescom takes place from 19th to 22nd August, and provides Insomniac with an ideal platform to show the world a trailer for a new game.
The Insomniac newsletter goes on to mention that Insomniac will actually demonstrate a new PlayStation 3 game at the Penny Arcade Expo. Whether these two games are the same is unknown. Could there be a Resistance 3 and a new Ratchet & Clank game?
Sony offered Eurogamer "no comment" this morning.
However, the whistle may have been blown on Resistance 3 already. Back in October 2009, a billboard advertising Resistance 3 was spotted on a Battle: Los Angeles film set. That movie belongs to Sony Pictures' and is due next year: perfect timing for a Resistance 3 advertising campaign.
Insomniac captured headlines by signing a multi-platform publishing deal with EA Partners earlier this year. It's the first time Insomniac and Sony haven't worked together in years. Having said that, Sony owns the rights to Resistance and Ratchet & Clank, which means any new instalments in those series' will be for PlayStation platforms.
Could Insomniac be big enough to handle three games at once?

Well, it was only a matter of time before CTA started churning out accessories for the PS Move. Not unlike a similar offering for the Wii, the Ultimate Boxing Gloves are meant to add "realism and excitement to boxing and street-fighting games" by providing "fist-clenching ability" and compatibility "with all PS Move boxing game launches, including The Fight: Lights Out." Also on tap for the company are the Triple Port Charging Station (for simultaneously charging your PS Move Controller, Navigation Controller and Sixaxis controller), Dual Port (charging one PS Move Controller / Navigation Controller set) and Quadruple Port Charging Stations (for two sets of controllers). Sounds great, guys -- but we're still holding out for something incorporating wings or a rowing machine. Charging Stations due out in September, while the gloves should be available October 1 for $20.

With two different PSP hardware bundles for upcoming games, today might randomly be the biggest day of the year for PSP news. In addition to the God of War: Ghost of Sparta Entertainment Pack, Sony has announced a bundle that includes Madden 11. If you still need a PSP before you're ready for some football, this is for you!
The Madden bundle doesn't come with a PSP in a unique color scheme -- it simply includes the Piano Black PSP-3000. But what it does come with is an effectively free copy of Madden. The whole bundle sells for $170, the same price as the PSP alone. (You don't have to be one of football's best coaches to recognize the appeal of that strategy.) The bundle will be available alongside standalone versions of Madden 11 next Tuesday, August 10.

Your next chance to brutally eviscerate mythological beasts without eliciting the concern of your peers will come on November 2, when Ready at Dawn's second handheld Kratosian adventure, God of War: Ghost of Sparta, hits U.S. store shelves. The PlayStation.Blog mentions the game's arrival as "just in time for the holidays" -- we assume they're talking about Thanksgiving, which, much like God of War's ashy protagonist, places a heavy emphasis on carving.
Also announced were the game's pre-order bonuses, which include PSP and PS3 Themes and Avatars, the game's soundtrack, an in-game "Legionnaire Skin" and a video roundtable of the game's creative directors. In addition, a Ghost of Sparta PSP bundle will launch alongside the game, which comes with a red and black PSP-3000, a copy of the game, a download voucher for Chains of Olympus, Kick-Ass on UMD and a 2GB Memory Stick Pro Duo. It is, quite possibly, the most violent thing upon which you could ever spend $199.99.

It ' a few days ago that Sony has released FW 6.31 and PSP among all users , the coder Mamosuke greets the newcomer in his own way : Hello World !
Yes, the exploit discovered by Mamosuke remains operational on the new Sony FW home . The principle is the same , this is an exploit in user -mode (no boot or HEN then ISO ) based on a complete game in which the name is still kept jealously secret. Necessary precaution so as not to disadvantage holders of PSP Go! who would adequately patched the game on PSN . Mamosuke never misses an opportunity to demonstrate its commitment by publishing a video showing the exploit to work.

Small but interesting update to the most discussed of the Nintendo 64 emulator on PSP , that with the new revision 550, promises to improve the execution speed of the games. The constant updates show that the team is always working to improve his own creation . E ' , one must remember that the project is just about code under the GPL and is purely amateur .

Games developer and publisher iFun4all is persistent about proving that they indeed achieved their goal and made worst game ever. To do so they plan to bring Paper Wars: Cannon Fodder to Sony PlayStation Portable.
Worst kept secret in the world
Paper Wars: Cannon Fodder is an extension to the previously released Crap of Defense game for iPhone. The game were self proclaimed worst game ever, and their creation story included themes such as deaf composer paying for using his music in the game, kid artist from china working on the art and cheapest team ever assembled, with total budget of just 500 Russian rubles (excluding stolen hardware). Full story can be found here:
https://www.develop-online.net/press...rap-of-Defense
“We wanted to go with the same name, but our fame exceeded us and we were banned from the beginning” complains Fülöp Mészáros, second best Hungarian game designer (out of two).
“So we just changed the name and are hoping that no ugly schmuck from the press will ever nose it out” he secretly shared to our reporter in exchange of bottle of absinth.
“My grandpa once told me – if you are good at something, never do it for free” says Laszlo Kovács, Hungarian game producer, explaining why his team is planning to charge money for such terrible game. “To be honest I’ve never really understood what he meant, but I just liked the idea of charging money” he adds.
Too much of a bad thing
Paper Wars: Cannon fodder isn’t just a port of an original game – it is taking game to a whole new level of quality (for good or for bad, depending on what are you looking for). “We not only added completely new campaign, but added dozens of levels to previous two” says Laszlo.
“Combined with numerous new enemy types, shooting modes, power ups and hundreds of achievements it will be probably hugest attempt to fry brains of all hardcore gamers that will make brave stand against this most exhausting experience in video games history” he boldly ends (sipping absinth with Fülöp, not completely sure what he just claimed).
Paper Wars: Cannon Fodder is expected to be released on Minis section of PSP Store later this month.

Load times in PS3 game ModNation Racers will be reduced by an update set for release tomorrow.
The patch, due for release at 10am Wednesday, is designed to address "issues the community has been concerned about".
It'll also implement a new casual difficulty mode, fix a bug that allowed players to cut the track and post unbeatable times in Hot Lap, and improve server stability to improve disconnects.
"On behalf of UFG [United Front Games], we want to thank everyone for supporting ModNation and being patient as we've worked hard to make it the best experience possible," Sony San Diego community manager Ramone Russell wrote on the US PlayStation Blog.
Eurogamer reviewed ModNation Racers in May, and returned with a solid 7/10.

Konami is bringing DanceDanceRevolution to the PlayStation 3.
Confirmation comes from a sneaky update on the Japanese publisher's Facebook page.
On it there's an hilarious picture of an old school DDR box art and a fat PS3 with the words: "You really wanted it. So we really listened."
There's no mention of an Xbox 360 or Wii version.
That's all she wrote for now. A launch party is planned for Thursday, 12th August in Los Angeles. We're pushing for more details now.

THQ has reaffirmed its commitment to the UFC fighting game franchise, despite weaker-than-expected sales of this year's title.
Talking to GamesIndustry.biz at the publisher's UK retail event last month - The Gathering - head of marketing Jon Rooke admitted that the game hadn't sold as many units as the company had expected, and pointed to a variety of reasons for that.
"We've had Red Dead Redemption released one week before us and that sucked, to-date, probably three quarters of a million units from the market," Rooke explained. "The economy is still in decline - we haven't come out of recession yet, with VAT set to go up and the government looking for 40 per cent budget cuts... people are nervous about spending.
"There was that macro-setting, plus we were around the World Cup, which takes out a lot of consumer spending as well. You could even put into there the iPad launch as being on the same weekend - so a lot of things are coming on to it."
But Rooke does believe the product will continue to sell over time, and underlined that the company still has strong plans for the license in in the future.
"We know from 2009 that the brand has massive long legs," he said. "Last Christmas we were still selling a lot of units across Europe per week, a good seven or eight months after the game came out.
"We're seeing the sales for 2010 settle down to a good, steady pace and we're working that stock through the channels with our partners - and we've got a lot of stuff to come from UFC as well.
"We've got great brand awareness among that UFC consumer, and we know they're going to come to the brand - we know they're going to come to purchase. But it was just that a number of factors - predominantly Red Dead Redemption sucked so much cash out of the market.
"When Red Dead had shipped about 5 million we'd shipped about 2.6 million units of UFC globally - so it's still a massively successful game... just that the expectations might have been that little bit more. You have to step back a bit and recognise that.
"We're absolutely not walking away from the brand - we've got a long term commitment to it as we've shown with things like UFC Trainer, and it won't be long before we start talking about UFC 2011, I'm sure..."

The Black Phantom Edition of terrific PS3 role-playing game Demon's Souls has - but for a few "dribs and drabs" - sold out in the UK, according to publisher Namco Bandai Partners.
"I can't give you a number, but what I mean by an 'amazing success' is that all the stock we built of the Black Phantom Edition has sold out (apart from dribs and drabs)," Lee Kirton, marketing and PR manager for Namco Bandai Partners UK, told Eurogamer.
"For a game that's been out a long time overseas we believe it to be a success. Reviews scores and coverage have been amazing.
"We haven't done hundreds of thousands of units," he added, "but we've been pleased."
Demon's Souls: Black Phantom Edition, released 25th June, spent just two weeks in the UK all-formats top 40 chart - entering in sixth and then falling to 20th a week later.
This Friday, Namco Bandai will release the standard edition of Demon's Souls at the much cheaper price of £34.99.
The Black Phantom Edition sells for £44.99 and contains an art book, soundtrack CD and strategy guide.
Developed by From Software, Demon's Souls was released in February 2009 in Japan and October 2009 in North America. It's a wonder there was any European demand left, given the region-free nature of PS3 games.
Eurogamer reviewed the Japanese release over a year ago and awarded the merciless RPG 9/10. To mark Demon's Souls European arrival, Eurogamer tracked down game director Hidetaka Miyazaki for a look back at one of the best games of this generation.

Haven't had a chance to get your hands on the PlayStation Move during one of its appearances at industry trade shows? According to a report from Destructoid, you'll get your chance to try out the peripheral before its September 19 launch date, as anonymous sources claim Sony is hiring tons of representatives to work demo kiosks which will start appearing in Best Buys and Walmarts across the country starting September 11.
According to the report, the units should stay in stores until late January 2011, giving you plenty of time to determine whether or not the Move is worth your hard-earned cash -- or plenty of time to hard-earn said cash, if you decide to apply to become one of Sony's Move representatives. We've contacted Sony to get a comment on all of these reports.

Team 17 has spoken to IncGamers about digital distribution and talked about the main problems that the PSPGo encountered.
Studio head Martyn Brown revealed that digitial distribution dramatically helped the team with the releases of Worms 2: Armageddon and Alien Breed Impact.
Brown revealed, “Of course, it’s totally changed the playing field for us and put the control back in our hands. I would imagine none of this [release of Alien Breed and Worms] would have happened without the move to digital.”
When asked whether the gaming industry could solely survive on digital distribution in the future after the failed-attempt of the PSPGo, Brown was adamant it could.
“Digital Distribution is here to stay” he explained, “I think the issues with the PSPGO were somewhat different, basically the cost of the hardware, the software library and it’s pricing – the problem wasn’t that it was a digital device – look at the iPhone & appstore.”

Peripheral company CTA Digital announced two new accessories for the PlayStation Move, meant to enhance different aspects of the experience. For those of you who want to pay even more to play The Fight: Lights Out, CTA offers the Ultimate Boxing Gloves -- a set of fingerless gloves into which you can secure the Move controllers. The Wii has the wrist strap, but thanks to CTA, Move has the elusive palm strap.
The other new accessory is actually pretty slick-looking, and even practical: it's a charge cradle designed for one Move controller, one Navigation Controller, and one Dual Shock 3. For the one-Move household, this actually appears to be an ideal charging setup. The company also offers two other configurations for Move charging: one for just the Move and the Navigation Controller, and one for two Moves and two Navigation Controllers.

If you've been dreaming about a new Shining Force in the vein of the classic strategy games of old, keep dreaming! There's a new Shining game on the way for PSP, but it's more along the lines of Shining Wind and Shining Tears, with characters from Tony, the same designer who worked on those games.
Shining Hearts is a traditional 2D overhead RPG with menu-based battles, but it also has romance and lifestyle elements. You play as Rick, a young warrior who works in a bakery on Wyndaria Island. Throughout the course of the game, you'll form a relationship with one of the three girls who work alongside you at at the bakery, while engaging in battle out at sea and taking on quests from your fellow islanders.
Wyndaria is usually a peaceful place. This changes with the appearance of a mysterious girl named Kaguya, who arrives on the island one morning following a great storm. Kaguya has lost her memory and her heart, and pirates are after the spirit stone she wears on her neck. You'll need to help Kaguya restore her heart while protecting her and the island from pirates.
To help Kaguya restore her heart, you'll need to collect "Hearts." These can be obtained by taking on quests across the island. As you give your hearts to Kaguya, her spirit stone will release "heart keys," which can be used to open up new areas of the world.
To protect the island and Kaguya, you'll need to engage in battle with the pirates on land and sea. The game's combat system is command-based, with the action switching from the adventure component's overhead view to a side view. Visually, it looks a bit like the Tales series, although when you perform special attacks, you'll be treated with Super Robot Wars-style character cut-ins. The relationship component of the game plays a part here, as your three party members will see their favor for you change depending on your performance.
Sea-based play looks like a major part of the Shining Hearts experience. Your base of operations is a ship which you'll be expanding throughout the game. As you collect those heart keys from Kaguya, you'll be able to head off to new islands via your ship.
Outside of combat and questing, you can take part in a variety of activities on the island. Activities include fishing and collecting crops (which you won't have to actually plant) and other items for use in baking bread and forging new weapons.
All this could make for an enjoyable JPRG experience on PSP when Shining Hearts hits Japan this Winter. But we won't blame you if you still find yourself wanting a strategy-based Shining Force game from Sega. Maybe next time?

Seeing as the wait for Gran Turismo 5 has been such a long one, Sony is hoping that dedicated fans of the series have had plenty of time to save up for the recently announced £149.99 Signature Edition of the game.
Included in the metallic black metal case is a 1:43 scale Mercedes SLS AMG model car, a Gran Turismo branded leather wallet, a USB stick including trailers for the game, a metal keyring, a Signature Edition coffee book table, a 200 page Apex drivers magazine including game hints, five in-game Collector’s Edition cars and six bonus in-game ‘stealth’ cars.
Also bundled is the chance to win a real life Mercedes SLS AMG.
Sony has already announced a Collector’s Edition version of the game that includes a glossy car guide, keychain, five DLC cars and a 1:43 scale model of the 2009 Nissan GT-R Spec V. That will retail for £59.99.
Gran Turismo 5 is due out on PS3 on November 2nd.

News/release from raing3
The reason for this NitePR/MKULTRA mod is because I wanted a way to test PSPAR codes on CFW, for me it was easier just to implement the PSPAR code types into an existing cheat device rather then try and patch the PSPAR EBOOT to run on CFW so that is exactly what I have done.
Unlike the official PSPAR cheat device a more simple code file format is utilized for loading codes, the format is much like the CWCheat cheat database format but instead of code lines being preceeded with "_L " they are preceeded with "_M ".
I also got bored and decided to implement the CWCheat code types so hopefully most CWCheat codes should work with this cheat device.
Usage
Installation Instructions
Copy the seplugins folder to your Memory Stick (if not copying over game.txt and pops.txt be sure to manually add those lines to the files on the MS).
In-Game Controls
Show cheat menu: Press home twice followed by VOLUP+VOLDOWN).
Enable Cheat Engine: Press Note.
Screenshot: Press SELECT+VOLDOWN.
Changes
Spoiler: Changes hide
Code: [Select]
Changes in v1.2 (August 3, 2010)
[+] Upper bits of fake addresses can now be retrieved. eg. Use 0x0A000002 to
read the kernel mode buttons using the 16-bit PSPAR code types.
[+] Added an option to hijack the PSPAR button codes. This option if enabled
Will change PSPAR codes with code types 0x09 and 0x0A and an address of
0x09F00000 or higher to be treated as a button joker code. This makes
codes such as the GTA: VCS moonjump code work without altering the code.
[+] Menu key, trigger key and screenshot key can now be configured under PRX.
[+] The POPS version now uses a different config file to the PSP version.
[+] Added PC CWCheatPOPS to PSPAR code converter.
[!] Fixed problem copying address from codelist to the Browser/Decoder.
[!] Button press prompt is no longer displayed on load. This should fix
display problems with PSP Filer and probably some other homebrew/games.
[!] Fixed the 0x08 CWCheat code type.
[!] Codes which attempt to write a 16-bit value to 8-bit address or a 32-bit
value to 8/16-bit address will no longer crash the PSP.
[!] MAC address patch is off by default to fix networking problems while plugin
is enabled. User must remove config.bin for this change to take effect.

UK broadcaster Channel 4 is in talks with Sony to bring its 4oD service to the PlayStation3, allowing a selection of the channel's content to be streamed on demand via the console, Techradar reports.
The report originally appeared in media journal Broadcast Magazine, where a source was quoted as saying that Channel 4 wanted to see 4oD on PS3, suggesting that the discussions were already taking place, albeit in early stages.
"4oD is becoming a platform agnostic product and will be successful because of the quality of the content," said the source.
Four on Demand would join the BBC's iPlayer service on the Sony machine, which offers free streaming of the corporation's programmes. Currently, Microsoft's Xbox 360 offers a Sky Player service, but only to users who already pay Sky for a subscription.
Techradar have also previously reported that ITV are interested in bringing their on-demand service to the PlayStation 3.

August 5th, 2010, 22:13 Posted By: wraggster
The upcoming motion-controlled gaming wars will be won by Sony it is expected after a survey of UK gamers showed the PlayStation Move is set to outsell Mircosoft’s Kinect offering by a considerable margin.
The survey carried out by sales website Groupola found that out of 2,000 UK gamers questioned 77 per cent of PlayStation 3 owners were looking to get their hands on Move whilst just 23 per cent of Xbox 360 users were planning on splashing out for the controller-less Kinect peripheral.
Whilst Groupola’s Managing Director, Mark Pearson has pinned this swing in the favour of Move on Kinect’s high-end £129.99 price tag, Dr Richard Marks, creator of the PlayStation Move technology and former Sony EyeToy, believes it is to do with the limitations of controller-less gaming.
Speaking exclusively with T3, Dr Marks said: “I think it depends if you believe that controller-less is necessarily better which I don’t believe. I created the technology for EyeToy which we made a controller-less device and it was really neat and it enabled new things but it is not the end-all, be-all in control, we entered limits with that and I think without a controller you run into limits of what you can enable.”
He added: “You can do things like track the whole body, you can have dancing and exercise but a lot of the core gameplay ideas that we want to see happen and want to enable just weren’t possible with only a camera. We would have done that, we look at as much as we could do with just a camera but it wasn’t the right choice we felt.”
Sony’s PlayStation Move will also benefit from an increased sales period over Kinect when it hits UK shelves a full two months before the Microsoft offering on September 19th.

channel 4's free telly service, which includes The Ali G Show, The Inbetweeners and Fonejacker, could come to the PlayStation 3.
Talks between Sony and Channel 4 are at an early stage, apparently.
4 on Demand, which works like the BBC iPlayer – already on the PS3 – includes world class shows Hollyoaks, Deal or No Deal, and... Gulp... Location, Location, Location.
Channel 4 is currently looking to take its on demand digital service to other platforms following its success on Virgin Media's on demand service and YouTube, and Sony's PS3 could be one of them, TechRadar reports.
If true, Channel 4 would be the first commercial TV station to come to the PS3.
The report is based on an article in Broadcast magazine.
"We're looking to launch on the PS3," a source said.
"4oD is becoming a platform agnostic product and will be successful because of the quality of the content."
Carmel McQueen agrees.

Sony's latest Firmware seems to have added yet another feature to the PlayStation 3 - a new PSN wide notification system.
A PS3 user has received a message from a sender with the PSN id: [PSN] regarding an issue with a PSN title. The message contained an attachment that linked to the game on the PSN Store, indicating that the message came from Sony.
The new system seems to allow Sony to communicate with PlayStation Network at large, or perhaps a certain group of users.
The latest PS3 firmware was originally dismissed as insignificant, but it was quickly discovered that the update added a new patching system, making this the second hidden feature to be included.
However, the firmware also introduced a rather annoying bug that caused a number of HDD issues.

News via http://pcsx2.net/
Hey guys!
We've made some important changes to GSdx and SPU2-X concerning bugfixes, stability, and emulation correctness. It's best to use these with the PCSX2 0.9.7.r3113 beta release.
Head over to the beta downloads section to grab the 7z archive with the upgraded plugins. To upgrade, extract into your PCSX2 plugins folder and then select them from PCSX2's plugin selector.
GSdx changes:
•Better DirectX 11 detection.
•Wrong colors in the movie record feature fixed.
•More CRCs for automatic post process removal.
•Stability fixes and preparation work for future PCSX2 revisions.
•Finally fixed the remaining DirectX 11 memory leaks on emulator suspends!
SPU2-X changes:
•Major bugfix that prevented SPU2-X from initializing on many users systems.
•More accurate emulation regarding double interrupts.
•Fixed minor volume issues and doubled output volume.
•Fixed a write-back issue that had caused memory corruption before.
Now the Tales of Destiny 2 sound test has a working visual equalizer.
•Mostly fixed voice modulation (used in Romancing Saga and FFX battles).
•Clamp illegal pitch settings, fixing another bunch of games.
•Hopefully fixed bad reverb area problems.
Enjoy

DanceDanceRevolution on PlayStation 3 will support Sony's motion controller, Move, Konami has confirmed.
"For the first time in the history of the franchise, DanceDanceRevolution PS3 will feature a truly interactive dance experience via PlayStation Move as it challenges players to use both their hands and feet simultaneously - providing the most rhythmic and realistic dancing experience yet on PlayStation 3!" reads an excitable press release.
"Additionally, compatibility with the PlayStation EYE allows players to take pictures of their room and add dance club components to transport their home into a virtual club." Banging. The game, due out later this year, will come with 25 new original songs by Konami's in-house artists, as well as 25 "famous" licensed tracks.
Konami will show the game to the public for the first time at a community event at the Royal-T Café, Los Angeles, on Thursday, 12 August.
The Japanese publisher also has upcoming Kinect title DanceMasters and a new Wii DDR game in the works.

Sony announced this morning via its EU PlayStation Blog that the demo for Mafia 2 will be a "24-hour exclusive" to PlayStation Plus subscribers on the EU PSN (people presumably still reeling from their bonus copies of LittleBigPlanet). Non-subscribers in the EU will get the demo tomorrow. The demo went live via Automatic Download and on the PlayStation Plus section of PSN this morning.
If you can patiently outlast today, you'll find the demo available to every European PS3 owner tomorrow. It's also available worldwide on the Xbox Live Marketplace right now and should be added to the US PSN later today.

The Ace Combat series will be ‘reborn’ on Xbox 360 and PS3 next year, Namco Bandai has told MCV.
Ace Combat Assault Horizon marks the first time the franchise has appeared on PlayStation 3.
Developed once again by Project Aces, the team has set about creating a more destructive air combat game – which the studio says is not a sequel to 2007’s Ace Combat 6, but an entirely new chapter for the franchise.
“For us, this is a rebirth of the Ace Combat series, and a chance for us to take the series in a completely new direction,” said Project Aces producer Kazutoki Kono.
“We’re confident that we’re going to create a new kind of action shooting experience with Ace Combat Assault Horizon, and we’re pouring passion, vision and skill into making a game like no other. We want to bring players closer than ever to the action so they feel the energy surge through them with every shot fired.”

We could see gaming and communicating beautifully merged in the form of a PlayStation phone as early as October, according to reports.
According to Engadget sources, Sony Ericcson is working on a phone using Google's Android platform for release this year.
A trademark for a Sony device labelled 'PlayView' - which sounds very phoney/gamey indeed - was unearthed by CVG in June and now there are more mumblings about a Sony cross between a Captivate phone and a PSPGo.
The exciting bit is that the phone will apparently include side-slider gaming controls instead of a QWERTY keyboard.
"The D-pad is here, but instead of the small joystick, the device will have what was described as a 'long touch pad' for analog controls, along with standard PSP buttons and shoulder buttons," according to Engadget.
Also attributed to the phone is a large display, between 3.7 and 4.1 inches with WVGA or better resolution, a 5 megapixel camera and a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU is "likely".
The phone is mostly black with some silver highlights, and the gamepad area is white / silver in color, claims the source.
The device will apparently be running Gingerbread (Android 3.0) and there will be a new section of the Android Market specifically for games.
Way back in May the words of Sony Australia boss Michael Ephraim suggested that the PSP2 will actually be a smart phone when he said, "The handheld space is very crowded, not just in the games category but also with smart phones and so on."
We've left SCEE a message.

Creative Director Kevin Levine has said that BioShock Infinite, revealed earlier today, is not your typical sequel, but more like a re-imagining of the BioShock franchise.
"In the game industry, people have a particular sense of what a sequel is. You know, they're going to follow the story, it will be the same world, a lot of the same weapons," said Levine.
"I guess "re-imagining" is a good way to describe it. Anything that was in the previous game has to earn its way into this game. We're open to explode any ideas, change any ideas, re-imagine any ideas. That's why we've been quiet for so long. That's a question we've had to wrestle with for a long time, and it took us a few years to get to the point where we were ready to talk about it. Now the team is super excited about it.
"Once you make a game like BioShock, the audience expects to be surprised and amazed the same way they were by Rapture. We wanted to make sure we had something that felt familiar in some ways, but also felt different at the same time." You can read the full Q&A with Levine here, check out a BioShock Infinite preview here and watch the reveal trailer here.

With the chances of further downloadable episodes of Heavy Rain's "Chronicles" DLC looking all but nonexistent, we wondered how Quantic Dream CEO and creative head David Cage felt now that his game has been folded up like an origami crane. We caught up with Cage after his talk at GDC Europe today to find out.
"I understand why the decision was made," Cage said of the cancellation of the planned DLC. "From a creative point of view it was not my choice. I would have really preferred a thousand times developing the Chronicles. I thought we had a lot to say about these characters, about their background. Things that were just mentioned in the game that had a true explanation in the background, and it's a little bit unfortunate that we won't be able to tell you the full story." But at the same time, Cage said he's looking forward to working on something new. "I didn't want to do everything, I wanted to move on," he said. "I didn't want to spend another two years on Heavy Rain developing Move and Chronicles and stuff. ... So a decision had to be made and it's a decision I respect. Honestly, it's not like I'm upset about it, I would have preferred to do it differently but, you know what, it makes sense."
So, to sum up, Cage says he really want to finish the story through DLC, and that it's unfortunate that he didn't get to. But he also says he didn't really want to spend all that extra time on the game, and that he's happy to be moving on. So... that clears that up, yeah?

Hey guys!
Here is my neoflash retro coding compo 2010 entry
If you like it please vote for it
Link : Neoflash
Edit : For anyone who has already downloaded the game.... Please download the game again. Various things have been fixed/improved.
Changelog : Re-wrote tile animation function (FPS never drops below 60fps now, Fixed enemy's appearing below the ground bug)
Project Description
Can you guide mario though this epic journey to save princess peach? Or will bowser forever haunt your dreams?
Mario Fusion is a tribute to the Mario franchise that we all know and love. The game features most of the features you would expect to see in a mario game, with breakable blocks, animated tiles, mushrooms, coins, goombas, flowers & shells. The game features 5 Levels including a showdown with your evil nemesis bowser!
The game is fun & challenging and I hope you enjoy playing it as much as I did creating it.
Please read the credits screen in game for a full list of people who helped me make this game possible.
Game is programmed in C using the GU. It is also multiplatform, currently supported platforms are : PSP, Windows, Mac OSX & Linux.
Issues
If you download the version with music enabled you may experience freezes at random places. It might happen at the menu or it could happen after 3 game overs. It is a bug with AALIB that I didn't have the time or know how to fix. If this behavior irritates you, please download the version with no music. Both versions include sound effects.
Occasionally some enemies may be spawned under tiles, it's really random, it sometimes never happens but occasionally does. Again due to time contraints I was unable to pinpoint the issue.
My apologies for the above bugs.
Controls
DPad Right = Move Right
DPad Left = Move Left
Cross = Jump
Square = Run
Video
Screenshots
Download
EDIT : If you downloaded the file before this edit, please redownload again.
Bug is fixed where mario would continue moving to the right after crossing the flagpole.

*NOTE: We at DCEmu do not condone piracy. We are merely posting news. We do not take responsibility for any damages to your consoles and/or games and any legal actions brought upon you.
It seems as if the PS3 has been hacked with a new commercial USB Device called the 'PS Jailbreak'. This is like a 'HD Loader' which will allow owners to dump all original PS3 games onto a FAT32 hard drive and play the game entirely from there (similar to that of how the Wii is with its USB Loaders). This seems to turn your PS3 into a DEBUG unit hence this is why it works. But of course, in order for it to work, it may be using illegal codes from the PS3 SDK. It is said that the PS Jailbreak will run games 2x faster than Blu-ray, support homebrew and will be fully updateable. Before you jump up for joy...this little USB dongle retails for $170AUD ($150USD). Still want it? Also, this method can be squashed instantly with an update to firmware even though its said to be updateable (if they can find a method around Sony's blocked method - only time will tell).
* PS Jailbreak is a USB plug and play solution that installs in seconds, keeping your valid warranty seal in tact.
* Easy to use installer and GUI takes you step by step.
Compatible with all production models FAT and SLIM. Supports all regions: USA, JAP, PAL and KOREA
* PS Jailbreak disables forced software updates and will never brick your console.
Supports all games (it does not allow backups of blu-ray movies, dvd movies, or past consoles games)
* Backup games to your internal hard drive or external hard drive through USB, and boot directly off GUI. Eliminating the need for expensive blu-ray burners and costly blank media.
Play backups off your hard drives 2x as fast as off the blu-ray drive. This eliminates lags and glitches to provide you with smoother game play.
* Open up your console to a new generation of homebrew applications. Load homebrew apps/games off any USB hard drive/flash drive.
* Fully updateable with new features/updates by connecting PS Jailbreak to any computers USB port.
FAQ:
Q: What firmware version does PS JailBreak it work on?
A. It apparently works on a couple of old firmware verisons, but it was designed for the latest firmware version 3.41
Q. Does PS Jailbreak allow you to dump ps2 games, ps1 game, Blu ray movies?
A. No, just PS3 games.
Q. Does PS JailBreak allow every game to work?
A. Apparently 150 games have been tested, and they all work. If a game happens to have 1 file over 4gb the program will not be able to rip the game onto the harddrive. Apparently the worl around is to dump it on an internal hardrive
Q. Can I still play online with PS Jailbreak?
A. When today (19.08.2010) you can, we can't guarantee you will never be banned for using the 3rd party device.
Q. Can Sony block this with firmware updates?
A. Probably. The have have the USb dongle firmware upgradable, but you can never predict the future. This is made to work with 3.41. If you happen to download an install an update which is higher then this then it is your doing. We will not accept stock back as "faulty" if you have upgraded your firmware.

Below are images of a gutted PS Jailbreak that we posted news about yesterday. The PS Jailbreak has been gutted and torn apart. Such a little device can open a whole new world.
Is this just a normal USB stick with files installed or is there something more to it and looks are deceiving?

Liquid Pro Quo has posted an entry in the Neoflash 2010 Coding Contest:
Heres the full details posted:
Nickname: Liquid Pro Quo
Project name: Mario Masochism v 0.2
From: USA
Division: Retro GAME
Platform: PSP
Original enter: YES
Support Motion: NO
In last NEO Compo this project have won in the top 10: NO
Project description:
Mario Masochism is not by any means your standard Mario clone. Prepare to be thrown into an unfair world, full of chaos and utter ridiculousness at every turn. It's King Koopa's dream world, where Mario simply doesn't have a chance =D . Masochistic in every way, but too addictive to put down. This version of the game includes the full first world (a few hours of gameplay) including a boss and a sneak peek bonus level into the Ghost World. Prepare to wear out your L trigger, but keep coming back for more, its Mario Masochism.
Written in C++, the game is written from scratch using a custom built engine. And has an easy level design mechanic for anyone who feels they'd be creative enough to contribute to the project. Game Features an autosave feature activated after completion of every level, so that when you come back for more torture, you won't have to start from scratch again.
and Here's a game play video:
Warning! Spoiler! as video contains level walkthrough:
Level 4 Walkthrough:
How to play: Controls are listed in the game (the readme and for a reminder you can also press L on the title screen) but here they are again for reference:
* Arrow Buttons: Move Left/Right
* X: Jump/Double Jump
* O: Toggle Music
* Square: Hold to Run
* Up: Press and hold to use exit portals
* L: Reload Level
* Start: Pause
* Select: Back to main menu [while on pause screen]
Basic goal of the game is from level to level to simply get Mario from his starting point to the exit portal, easy peazy ;]
Give it a try!

News via http://psx-scene.com/forums/showthre...243#post493243
So as I wrote. Public PS2PSXe preview. Only command line version attached. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get current sources to work properly (I'm halfway with some major changes and it will take awhile to complete them). The one attached you can consider as "the last one that actually works", or simply rev168.
Now all the necessary stuff.
The emu supports both PAL and NTSC display, but I REALLY RECOMMEND leaving the default PAL output. Why? Well, it's the only mode I use. Many fixes were made to make PAL games show less glitches in PAL mode... When you switch the display to NTSC it most often will show more glitches.
The PAL scph7502 bios is recommended to run games.
PAL games are recommended due to two simple reasons:
1. PAL games require only 50fps to be at 100% speed (NTSC games require 60, so PAL games are easier to emulate).
2. PAL games should look nice when using PAL display mode... NTSC games will always look much worse.
(well, I live in Europe. It's PAL region, so everything has been coded with PAL games and PAL TVs in mind. Actually, the option to switch display into NTSC mode has been added in rev163... so no fixes for that)
So use NTSC display mode only if your TV doesn't support PAL (yes I know this sucks... Most TVs in Europe nowadays support NTSC... On the other hand, most TVs in US do not support PAL... What a crap...).
Many of the parts of the emulator (like cue/ccd parser) have not been changed/updated for few years (the time I created them in 2007 or so). I focused on the most important parts of the emu... Once the time comes, everything will be replaced by proper code rather than some temporary solutions.
You shouldn't experience any problems launching it if you know what you're doing... Otherwise it might crash before even showing you anything.
The emu doesn't provide any drivers or modules other than the parts of the emu itself. But thanks to this it supports any devices that you will load modules for. I've tested it with internal hdd, usb, lan, dvd and even ps2 mc. I recommend using internal hdd or lan (host device). You can use usb, but the asynchronous cd plugin is tweaked for high bandwidth media... So when using with usb, some stuttering might occur here and there.
There is no real requirement for the modules present before the emu is launched except one. The emu REQUIRES IOMANX module to be loaded before launching it (older PS2link versions were loading it by default, but you will have to load it manually for newer ones or change it and recompile it).
Default ps2client versions will always truncate the files opened for writing and reading (even if O_TRUNC is not specified). Use the one from uLE or just change it by yourself).
Now the options:
-cdimage=PATH
Path to the cd image. 2352 bytes/sector images supported. CUE and CCD cuesheets are supported. Multiple tracks in ccd/cue are supported but only if all tracks are in a single file (no multiple files). For multiple files just point to the first track (it contains the data). PATH can be either relative to ps2psxe executable or full path.
-exepath=PATH
Launches PSX exe file (for intros, demos and such).
-bios=PATH
Bios path (bios/scph7502.bin by default)
-digitizepad
Internally switches pads into digital only mode (visible to PSX code). If you then manually enable analog mode (small analog switch at the center of the pad), then the left analog stick will act as D-PAD and right analog stick will act as R1/L1 horizontally. It's a nice features for games that do not support analog sticks at all (like FF7)
-spfix
Stack pointer fix. Try it if something goes wrong. It might be able to fix some games. It disables one of the optimizations (not many games make any use of it anyway)...
-xoff=OFFSET and -yoff=OFFSET
Positions the screen on TV. You can use it to correct the image position if your TV leaves eg. black bars at right or left side.
-sub
Enables subchannel support. It is really necessary only for libcrypt protected games... For two years or so not even for them. It's kind of obsolete as the emulator has automatic patch for libcrypt, so unpatched games like FF9 PAL will work even without subchannel data. The subchannel file has to have the same name as the img/bin/ccd/cue, just with the extension being .sub (so if the image is ff9pald1.cue, then the subfile is ff9pald1.sub). It's not really necessary anymore.
-excep
Disables some exception stuff. Use it if a games experiences problems. I believe this one should not be necessary anymore, but I left it... Didn't see a game that would need it in year or so.
-4ever
Disables most of the automatic libcrypt patches (not all of them though). It's there just for testing, really. You won't have to use it until you want to test subchannel file support.
-32bpp
Switches into 32bpp mode. I really RECOMMEND using it unless the game has texture problems (clut problems to be exact). It's not default only because it's not native PSX format . So use it unless it causes problems.
-nofps
Disables resolution/mode/fps display (the yellow crap at the top)
-nosprtf
Disables filtering for sprites. (2d images, though not all 2d images are sprites). Needed for 2d backgrounds in many games (a must for all final fantasy games - all ff games).
-nopolyf
Disables filtering for all polygons that are not sprites .
If you specify both -nosprtf and -nopolyf, filtering will not be used at all.
-nodith
Disables dithering in 16bit mode.
-ntsc
Switches display into NTSC mode. DON'T use it unless you really have to.
Savestates are screwed at the moment (search the information in the other ps2psxe thread - I posted the reason a month or so ago).
Use (l1+l2+r1+r2+triangle+circle) to save screenshot in "snap/" directory - always using executable (slesxxxxx) with counter (always checking for files that are already there, so it doesn't overwrite files if used in multiple sessions). Screenshots are saved in tim2 format.
(now some info taken from a mail I've sent some time ago to dlanor) Because the gpu doesn't yet support offscreen drawing nor drawing on the same buffer that is displayed, quite often instead of menus (even the fps counter may die, but everything will work once the correct button is pressed), black screen will be displayed. You will have then to either try you luck by pressing common buttons (start, x, o) or to check how it in fact looks on some other emu and then make the choice. Movies should be displayed now in most of the cases, but sometimes all you will see is a black screen... Wait or press start/x/o to skip it (it's not that often, it usually works). Some things are just really hard to do in hardware accelerated gpu... I'm not sure why yet, but the emu has a tendency to freeze for few seconds from time to time (quite rare actually), so don't worry if it seems to freeze... Just wait and it should unlock (unless it takes more than 10 seconds, then it is a complete freeze).
Do not bother to report glitches and bugs. I know about them. You won't help this way. This is PREVIEW, not a public beta for testing. Either use it or not... It's as simple as that.

PlayStation CEO and Chairman Kazuo Hirai says future PlayStation consoles will not be download-only.
Speaking in an interview with MCV, Hirai insists Sony’s digital-only PSPgo was a success, despite slow sales of the portable.
But the firm has no intention of adopting the download-only model for future PSP consoles.
“We are doing business not just in the developed nations of the world, but also in parts of the world where network infrastructure isn’t as robust as one would hope for,” he said.
“There’s always going to be requirement for a business with the size and scope of our magnitude to have a physical medium. Whether it a portable device or a home-based console.
“So to say we are going to put all our eggs into a network-only basket? I think that is taking that a little too far. In general, to think everything will be downloaded in two years, three years or even ten years from now is taking it a little bit to the extreme."
There will be more from our interview with Hirai in next week's issue of MCV magazine.

News via http://wololo.net/wagic/2010/08/18/h...s-than-a-week/
Coder J416′ s announced a few hours ago that his port for HBL on 6.31 is ready.
He had encountered issues unloading the main module of the game (understand: freeing some Ram for homebrews) so his work was delayed and the port of HBL wasn’t as easy as expected, but he figured out a solution to this critical issue yesterday, and announced that his code is almost ready. He announced on his blog that the release, as planned, would be done this month, most likely in less than a week.
The game used for the exploit is available on UMD and its name will be announced soon as well. It hasn’t been confirmed yet if this game is available on PSN (I’ll update this post as soon as I know). JP, US and EU versions of the game exist, although for now the exploit only works on the JP version (mostly because no hacker has worked on the US/EU versions yet, but there’s a good chance the exploit exists in those versions too, which we will of course investigate).
I will keep you updated as I get more news, if you can read Japanese you can follow the news on mamosuke’s blog or j416’s blog. I am not directly involved with this port (which was entirely done by j416) so I haven’t personally tested it yet, but mamosuke and j416 have kindly kept me updated in the past weeks (thanks guys ).
I’m extremely excited to see the results. Please keep in mind that HBL “only” allows you to play homebrews, so when the name of the game is released, please don’t buy it for an insane price if you’re expecting to play pirated games, or you’ll be disappointed. Also be sure that Sony will patch this exploit soon after it is released, so I think people who are using HBL with the patapon exploit should keep using it. Upgrading to 6.31 for the ability of playing network games, or connecting to the PSN, will probably just last for a few days/weeks before the exploit gets patched.
Stay tuned

There's no question that gaming on the Android platform has heretofore been relatively underwhelming, but that looks like it's all about to change. It seems that Sony Ericsson -- a company that has yet to even introduce an Android 2.0 device -- is at work on a project to redefine gaming on Google's mobile platform. We now know (via a trusted source) that the company is actively and heavily developing a brand new gaming platform, ecosystem, and device (possibly alongside Google) which are already in the late stages of planning. And we've got the goods on it.
Here's what we can tell you about the hardware: if you're a gaming fan, this is exactly the kind of phone you've been waiting for. The device is described as cross between the Samsung Captivate and the PSP Go -- in other words, it's a landscape slider with game controls in place of the typical QWERTY keyboard. The D-pad is here, but instead of the small joystick, the device will have what was described as a "long touch pad" for analog controls, along with standard PSP buttons and shoulder buttons. The phone has a large display, described as being between 3.7 and 4.1 inches with WVGA or better resolution, a 5 megapixel camera that we're told might not be final, and it'll likely have a 1GHz Snapdragon CPU on board. The phone is mostly black with some silver highlights, and the gamepad area is white / silver in color. Apparently it's currently branded as a Xperia device, but it looks like it will carry PlayStation branding as well. Those who've seen the phone say it looks "pretty damn sexy." The mockup above probably doesn't do the actual hardware justice, but it should give you an idea of what you'll be dealing with.
On the software side, it looks like the device will be running Gingerbread (Android 3.0) with a phone-specific skin, and there will be a new area of the Android Market specifically for the games. That content will be initially accessible only by the halo device, but from the sounds of things, these titles might be made available to other Android phones if their specs and button layouts meet requirements. Games will be graphically in the range of PSX or PSP games, meaning true 3D gaming is headed to Android. Titles currently being shown off seem to be focused around some older PSX as well as new PSP offerings, with God of War, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and LittleBigPlanet possibly on tap, and future plans for titles which incorporate augmented reality features.
In terms of release, it's possible that the phone and ecosystem could be introduced as early as October of this year, but we have yet to confirm.
Right now we're working on getting even more detail about the phone and partnership, but we can tell you now that this is not a random rumor -- we have reason to believe that what we've heard and seen is real and coming to market. It makes perfect sense in a way -- Google gets a much-needed push into the gaming and entertainment space for Android, while Sony (via its partnership with Ericsson) finally delivers the PlayStation phone users have been wanting. We see it as a major win for both companies and the consumer... and we always need another distraction. Stay tuned to this space for updates as we get them, and in the meantime, start socking away the pennies.

Well, it looks like Nintendo isn't the only gaming company that thinks Apple is the "enemy of the future" -- Sony has now also taken aim at iPhone gaming in a new PSP ad featuring Kevin Butler's pint-sized counterpart, Marcus Rivers. In it, Marcus reminds viewers that the iPhone is built for things like "texting your grandma and calling your girl," while the PSP is "built for big boy games," some of which can be had for as little as $9.99.

Reports have emerged that a company has produced a USB-based full hacking solution for the PlayStation 3, and that is has back-up software now running on the Sony platform, according to Eurogamer's Digital Foundry.
If true, this would seem to suggest that it would be possible in theory for users of any PlayStation 3 retail hardware to run any kind of game code - even when running the latest firmware updates.
While such claims have been made before - and this one may end up as the latest in a long line - a video posted on a website appears to verify the reports.
If true, this will be a blow for Sony, especially as potential pirates won't require a Blu-ray burner to acquire copied games, as the hack works by streaming game data either from the internal hard drive or alternatively via USB flash drives or hard disks.
Sony representatives were unavailable for comment at the time of writing.

Sony has insisted that there is still life in the PlayStation Portable, and it’s a viable platform for games, as the handheld becomes increasingly targeted at a younger gaming audience.
This morning details leaked of new PSP hardware that Sony is currently pitching to the development community, featuring a touch-sensitive pad at the back of the system.
"We don't have anything to announce and nor are we giving anything away if we say we’re always looking at the future as well,“ said Denny when asked if Sony was working on new hardware in the PSP family.
"For now, we’re still concentrating on the PSP as a very attractive proposition."
"It's natural that in the lifecycle of a platform as the cost comes down they do skew younger and we’re having a lot of success with the more child-friendly products on the PSP and it’s certainly a great proposition to buy in on, and the PSP has life left in it yet."
Ubisoft's Alain Corre also agreed there is still a business opportunity on the platform, even as companies like LucasArts have canned work due for the machine.
"We have been happy with our last releases on PSP," he told GamesIndustry.biz.
"Assassin’s Creed did very well, Avatar did very well, Prince of Persia is doing good.
"It's true that the volumes of sales are not huge but still we are making a living on that. We also re-released our key games and franchises on the Essentials range, and that’s doing good. All in all we are making some good business on the PSP."
The PSP has shifted through four different models since it was released, including the poorly-received download-only PSPgo console, and sales have continued to decline over recent months.
But Denny pointed to the hardware as an ideal budget gaming system, that can still offer something for the hardcore: "It was our first attempt at a handheld and with 60 million units-plus, I think it’s been a great success for us."
"With the Invizimals sequel, the new EyePet with augmented reality, new Patapon and also a new God of War, when you marry that with the Essentials collection you’ve got 20 triple-A games there and another 20 that were just announced - people that are buying in to PSP now it’s a great value proposition."

Sony's next-generation PlayStation Portable features touch-sensitive controls and Flash storage, according a number of high-profile development sources.
Speaking to our sister site Eurogamer.net, three separate sources have said that the hardware will be similar in design to the PSP-3000, not the most recently released PSPgo, and feature a touch sensitive control area at the reverse of the unit.
Sony has very recently met with publishing partners to show first-party games on the device and presented a business model for the new system, with some suggestions that the hardware will be released before the end of 2011.
Sony has not discussed the hardware publicly. In its press event during Gamescom this week, the emphasis on the current PSP hardware was that it is skewing towards a younger audience.
According to the report, Sony had considered a disc-based storage system for the new PSP, but is now incorporating Flash media support following developer feedback.

The PlayStation 3 has now sold 38 million units globally since its launch in 2006/7, with 16 million of those coming in Europe.
Those were the latest numbers revealed by Sony at this year's Gamescom press conference, with SCEE president Andrew House claiming last year's release of the PS3 Slim was the moment the console "sprang to life".
Meanwhile he added that software sales were up 38 per cent, with Metacritic scores averaging at 80 per cent, compared to 77 per cent for the Xbox 360.
New SKUs of the console were priced at $400 / €350 / £285 for a 320GB edition with PlayStation Move, while the 160GB edition will cost $300 / €300 / £250 and replace the existing SKU over time - with both being available from September 15.
The launch of an online classic film service, MUBI, was also announced and will be available from October, while House also revealed that the PlayStation Network now has a 70 per cent connection rate.
Rounding off the hardware section of the conference, House noted PlayStation Portable sales at 9.9 million for the past year, while PlayStation 2 sales now top 146 million globally, with a further 6 million projected for this year.

Touchscreen controls are nice for some applications but, until someone invents transparent fingers, they're a real bother for gaming. Many, including Apple, have toyed with the idea of putting the touch sensitive sections on the back of the device, and we have strong rumors coming out of Gamescom this week that this is the path Sony is taking for its next-generation PSP. Now, we've been hearing various rumors about this thing for just about as long as we've known about the first-gen PSP, but Sony is said to be quietly showing off a prototype unit about the size of a PSP-3000. While everyone agrees about the touch-sensitive portion 'round the back, it's unknown what (if any) physical controls will go along with it. A release date for the thing is also unclear, with some saying next year and others saying it'll be later than that. Whenever it ships we hope it'll do the right thing and finally put the UMD format out of its misery.

Although I never found much utility in Other OS, a Playstation 3 feature that could turn the console into a basic computer running Linux, my heart went out to people who used Other OS before Sony scrapped it.
Sony said it removed Other OS in March to "protect the integrity of the console," possibly because one hacker came too close to exploiting the feature in a way that would allow piracy. But now, OzModChips claims to have the first PS3 modchip on a USB stick. In theory, this allows people to play bootleg and homebrew games and make disc backups. Supposedly, it can also bypass firmware updates that Sony might use to banish the hack.
If Sony's piracy safeguards have indeed fallen, I propose that Sony should bring back Other OS. After all, once the integrity of the console is lost, there's no point in protecting it at the expense of users who did no harm.
A typical argument against draconian anti-piracy measures goes like this: Such attempts are pointless, because they eventually fail, and the only people who suffer are paying customers who have to jump through hoops. That argument didn't apply to the Playstation 3, because it was rock solid against hackers for almost four years, and legitimate customers were none the wiser.
With the removal of Other OS, everything changed. A feature was lost, and now it appears that Sony's previously unhackable machine is defeated through unrelated means. I'm skeptical of OzModChips' solution, which costs $170, until it's verified by an independent source, but if it's legitimate, why should Sony pretend that removing Other OS keeps the Playstation 3′s integrity intact?

As annoying as continuous Blu-ray player updates are, usually having the latest one is the best way to play more movies. Unfortunately the opposite was the case for Samsung (again) with the v2.09 update posted recently for its 2009 BD-Px600 line of players. Forum posters on CNET and AVSForum report the upgrade blocked them from playing Universal and Warner Bros. movies, which conveniently lock up after displaying the title image. Samsung's rolled back to an an older firmware version (v2.07) on its support site that should fix things for now, but with some users still having problems downgrading, all they can do is wait for the next update, whenever that arrives. Some help line reps have said the new version should arrive "in a couple of weeks," but it's not like you really wanted to watch Clash of the Titans or Book of Eli right now anyway, right?

August 23rd, 2010, 17:30 Posted By: wraggster
Sony has told GamesIndustry.biz that it supports publisher initiatives to monetise second hand games consumers through online play, and that it is currently investing in a solution for its own first-party titles.
The move has been pioneered by Electronics with Project $10 and refined through the Online Pass, which charges those that buy games second hand to access online multiplayer services, helping publishers recoup some money in the controversial pre-owned market.
"On the principle of making online portions of the game available or unlocked from the disc-based release for a fee, we're broadly supportive of that," said Sony's European president Andrew House in an interview published today.
"And we're exploring actively the same option for our own content."
While EA has been first to roll-out the practice across the EA Sports line-up, other companies including Red Faction publisher THQ and French firm Ubisoft are also putting systems in place.
Activision's Bobby Kotick has suggested the monetisation of online console play could go further, and that he'd like to see a subscription service for Call of Duty games, but House said Sony would "struggle" with that idea, and warned against a one-size-fits-all attitude to pricing.
"In terms of just a charge for basic online play, that's something that we have to talk about a lot more and we struggle with a little bit because we feel very vindicated and base a lot of the success of PSN today - a 70 per cent connection rate across consoles - on the fact that we've removed that major initial barrier to entry."
Sony is making money from PSN with the recent introduction of PSN Plus, a premium subscription that bundles multiple free games, content and access to beta phases for a set fee.
Uptake is better than expected, said House, and the company is now beginning to analyse user patterns and observing the first consumer trends.
"It's interesting that there's been a more significant uptake on the annual subscriptions than there has been on the three months subscription, with the exception of Japan," detailed House.
"I think that we need to remain hard at work on ensuring the content offering and the content flow remain strong. I have a sense that there is a second tier of PSN users that are almost ready to sign up that are in something of a wait-and-see mode because they want to see a bit more of the roadmap and how it flows out and is it meaningful to them? Which is absolutely fair enough."
It's not just a successful service for Sony, said House, as the company gathers data to convince publishing partners that they can also take advantage of PSN Plus for marketing and sales boosts.
"As with any of these propositions we've got to validate it first and then show them some good viable data on it," he offered. "There's overall amongst publishers, certainly with European publishing partners, a good open flexibility to talk about different models and actively explore them.
"There's increasing recognition that within the network space for our audience it's a mistake to try and adopt a one-size-fits-all attitude. The network naturally leads you to a variety of business models. Creating multiple consumer options is the way to do that and publishers are latching on to that idea. Whether it's based around their own franchises or being part of a publisher-led initiative."

The PlayStation mod known as 'PSJailbreak' has apparently seen so much demand that it has sold out.
Shoppsjailbreak (which operates out of the USA) has announced that it has run out of the USB hacking tool, which allows PS3 owners to copy games to the hard drive play the backup games.
The site posted this message earlier today:
***NEWS UPDATE: We are sorry to say that we are currently not accepting sales online for the PS Jailbreak as we are currently out of stock.
We have been informed by ********** that our next shipment of PS Jailbreaks is going to arrive on Monday August 23rd 2010.
Until then, we are only accepting reservations so we can guarantee that we will put a PS Jailbreak aside for you as soon as they come in on Monday, you will then be contacted on Tuesday and asked to place your order online at ***********
In order to get a reservation simply email us at ********
ALL customers who send an email to that address are going to be contacted on Monday when we receive stock, and are GUARANTEED a PS Jailbreak.
Obviously Sony won't be happy about the existence of a PS3 hack. There have been reports that the platform holder will be able to detect those using it.
So far, however, Sony has refused to comment on the matter.

Zack has posted an updated entry into the Neoflash Coding Contest:
Heres the details
Nickname: Zack
Projet name: Mario Fusion
Division: RETRO GAMES
Platform: PSP Game
Original enter: YES
Support Motion: NO
In last NEO Compo this project have won in the top 10: NO
Edit : For anyone who has already downloaded the game....
Cross = Jump
Square = Run

News via http://psx-scene.com/forums/showthread.php?t=65033
Don't go popping that cork off the champagne bottle yet now that PSJailbreak is out. Reports say that there is a chance for the PS3 to detect the jailbreak and thus, consequently, get your PSN account banned, similar to how the XBL does it.
According to SKFU and RichDevX, while you are logged into PSN, the Backup manager game ID (LAUN-12345) could be logged or recorded by Sony. This could then allow Sony to see if you are using the PSJailbreak/clone. As it is, Sony actually does impose bans on both PSN accounts and PS3 systems, resulting to the 800A227 error code.
So if you want to steer clear of trouble with Sony while still enjoying PSjb, it probably would be best if you don't go online and play first to avoid detection.

News via http://streetskaterfu.blogspot.com/2...sad-truth.html
While hackers usually had to work very hard to succeed in the videogame scene, now all seems to become a business of corruption and audacity.
A short timeline of the PSJailbreak. How it may have started, succeeded and may go on.
PAST
Part 1: Someone (called "the fake hacker" below) came in contact with an employee of a SONY service center. The fake hacker probably used a bit social engeneering until the employee agreed to sell him one of the SONY confidential JIG Sticks used in the service centers to test and repair broken PS3 SKU's.
Part 2: The fake hacker used documentation and software which was leaked by other SONY employees to study the JIG stick. The stick is used to boot a special firmware from itself before the original PS3 firmware starts. The now running system allows to execute debug/fake signed executables which can be created with SONY's official SDK.
Part 3: The fake hacker shared the information with his team members and people who were able to clone the stick. Probably in china as usual.
Part 4: The stick is clonable, so the fake hacker went on and used stolen/leaked software from SONY's official SDK to develope (the only real work he did!) the application known as "backup manager" which is used on the PS3 to dump and start the backups.
PRESENCE
Part 5: The fake hacker distributes high illegal clones of the original JIG stick via several online shops including the "backup manager" which is also illegal as it's all created with stolen/leaked software and documentation by SONY.
FUTURE
Part 6: SONY may update the PS3's bootcode to prevent loading the stick. They also could log the "backup manager"'s game ID (LAUN-12345) when people go online. So they could identify who actually uses the illegal JIG clone and ban the affected consoles. This would be an illegal step aswell, but hey; it's SONY.
- SKFU

News/release from ponlork
Good News Everybody! I finally finished work on a new version of my game. Gomen Nasai for the delay, I wanted to focus this release mainly on implementing Japanese kana. Well thanks to intraFont by BenHur, this version now supports Hiragana. I also improved the controls so it's much more faster and responsive. In Hiragana mode, I added a few punctuation marks, you can access the Comma period and Question marks by hitting R+Square. I'll include Katakana later. Besides that, other changes include a new Opening PMF Video, New Intro, and I added a extra stage.
I should also take this time to properly credit others on my previous releases. Learn Japanese Versions 1-5 uses Emeric0101's patched version of InsertWittyName's Lua Player 0.20, Ver 0.6 uses LuaPlayer Euphoria v8 by Zack, and this current version uses LuaPlayerHM 8.1 by Homemister. Unfortunately, after porting it over I was unable to get the MP3s & Wavs to intermingle with each other, so I had to drop two MP3s. I'll re-include them later when I switch over to PGE. I'm inching closer to my masterpiece

Put your PSPs together, or at least within range of one another, for qwikrazor87′s ad-hoc messenger… It’s PSP Adhoc IM and the name says it all: send instant messages from one PSP to another over ad-hoc.
PSP Adhoc IM v5:
•removed the OSK and uses a Danzeff style keyboard made from scratch
•the option to change the background color for words separately from the main color
•cleaned up the coding

News via http://www.psp-hacks.com/2010/08/18/...5-xx-released/
No, wait! Don’t get excited — it’s a demo, meaning, you can’t actually read any comics yet… This particular release simply showcases the possibility of Digital Comics on your hacked PSP. It boots, it runs, it can even play mp3s right now — just no comics.
Liquidzigong is working hard at cracking the remaining piece wide open. So keep your browser bookmarked & locked at psp-hacks.com ‘cuz we got you covered.
Here’s what Liquidzigong had to say; translated of course, from Chinese to English:
理论上由于检验漫画许可证的mlnapp_proxy.prx没有被真正破解,所以这个破解版可能并不能看 漫画,只能算个“演示版”。
mlnapp_proxy.prx is not fully decrypted, so we cannot actually read the comics, but this is only a demo.
这个东西的重要性在于揭示了6.XX和5.XX固件之间的系统接口其实是相似的。
this shows that the 6.XX and the 5.XX kernels are very similar.
Whataya think? Does Liquidzigong possess the necessary skills? My money says hells yeah. Download and check it out; maybe you can even lend a hand.

Hi Hlide here.
PCSP 0.3.0 is now released. It is not that perfect, so be indulgent. This emulator only has an interpreter so it may be not suited for all PC. And only for Windows (as a 32-bit binary) as we mainly concentrate our effort on emulation and not on portability.
It needs OpenGL 2/3/4.x w/ or w/o shaders.
It can play, say, half a dozen games :
- Puzzle Bobble Pockect
- Superfruit
- SmartBomb
- Lemmings
- Worms : Open Warfare
- Micromachines V4 (some sceneries have color corruption)
- Obscure : The Aftermath (color corruption and sometimes some "rumbling" motion making it hard to play)
- Silverfall (freezes after the tutorial)
No sound and no video emulation.
You can have some details that I posted on www.pcsp-emu.com :
- how to select a controller : keyboard or joypad
- how to switch the use of OpenGL shaders on/off in the fly
- psp screen window can now be resized to your taste
- a test on my EeePC 1201PN
Cheers.

Sony's online video channel Crackle is to gain a greater presence on the PlayStation Network, and could become the main entertainment channel on the service.
That's according to a report by the New York Times, which states Crackle - a portal airing original content alongside movies and TV shows - could grow considerably from its current 4 million unique users with the help of the PlayStation 3.
Original programming for Crackle costs around $1 million per episode, with Sony increasing the big-name talent acting in and directing the content. It also features over 200 Sony Pictures movies and shows such as Starsky & Hutch, Astro Boy and Breaking Bad - aiming for an audience of 18-34 year-olds.
Bringing Crackle to TV sets via the 50 million-plus subscribers of PSN "offers a great deal of scale that is terrific from an advertiser perspective," Eric Berger, Sony Pictures Television’s SVP for digital told the NYT.

Having required buyers of SOCOM Fireteam Bravo 3 on UMD to validate their game online by using a code before they could play online multiplayer earlier this year, it looks like Sony could roll out the model to all of its upcoming titles.
“On the principle of making online portions of the game available or unlocked from the disc-based release for a fee, we're broadly supportive of that,” SCEE president Andrew House told GamesIndustry.
“And we're exploring actively the same option for our own content.”
The first publisher to offer a one-use code to access certain DLC was EA, which adopted the scheme for Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age 2.
EA was also the first publisher to charge pre-owned buyers an additional fee to access some of the online components of its titles, specifically Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 and the upcoming FIFA 11. THQ has since followed suit with UFC 2010 and will do so with WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2011.
The likes of Sega have expressed their admiration for the scheme while Codemasters, Take-Two and Microsoft have included codes for free DLC in their games that second hand buyers need to buy outright if they want to access.

News via http://wololo.net/wagic/2010/08/24/h...-for-6-306-31/
J416 finally released his port of the HBL for the firmware 6.30/6.31. The port uses an exploit in the Japanese version of the game Minna no golf portable. People who currently want to enjoy Homebrew on their 6.30/6.31 PSP need an original JP UMD of this game. Compatibility of the exploit with the PSN version of the game has not been confirmed yet.
I haven’t tested HBL through this exploit yet, as I wanted the news out of the door asap, but I’ll be working on merging this port into the HBL SVN codebase in the days to come.
HBL Currently only works with the Japanese version of Minna no golf, but Mamosuke confirmed that a similar exploit exists in Minna no golf 2, and I confirmed that the exploit exists in the US Version, “Hot Shots golf”. We will be working hard in the days/weeks to come, to adapt HBL to as many versions of the game as possible, meanwhile, here’s a summary list:
•Minna no golf portable (JP UMD): Exploitable, runs HBL (J416’s port)
•Minna no golf portable 2 (JP UMD): Exploitable, Hello World by Mamosuke
•Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee (US UMD): Exploitable, Hello World by wololo
•Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee 2 (US UMD): probably exploitable
•Everybody’s golf (EU UMD): probably exploitable
•Eveybody’s golf 2 (EU UMD): probably exploitable
•PSN Versions of all the above: probably exploitable, untested.
Do NOT buy the non JP versions of the game just based on hope. As long as nothing’s released, a promise is as good as a fake. Only trust releases. In other words, consider that for now, HBL only works with the JP version of the game!!!
Enjoy

August 25th, 2010, 21:50 Posted By: wraggster
Ubisoft, Europe's number two publishing company, has said that it doesn't expect either Move or Kinect will be able to extend the life-cycle of the current generation of home consoles.
European MD Alain Corre told GamesIndustry.biz that he expects the peripherals from Sony and Microsoft will help lift the market in the short-term, but next year's big hardware success story is likely to be Nintendo's 3DS.
"I don't think so, no," said Corre when asked if either peripheral can stretch the current cycle beyond another 24 months.
"Yes, it's a good extension of the lifecycle for a certain length of time and it's also a good way to capture some consumers they didn't have on the casual side, because Microsoft's 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3 do not have the casual customers. So it will bring in a new category of customer for them.
"Now, will it prevent them from releasing brand new technology in the next five years? I don't think so," he added.
Any lack of long-term support will be a blow to the format holders, who have both invested significantly in extending the life of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this generation.
However, the desire to keep current consoles breathing for another five years - a plan expressed by Microsoft’s European boss Chris Lewis - doesn't seem realistic to Ubisoft.
Instead, the publisher expects both companies are already marching on with the development of new hardware.
It's Nintendo's release of a 3D handheld system that has really captured the publisher's imagination, with Corre suggesting the 3DS can be a "monster success" next year.
Ubisoft has Ghost Recon, Driver, Splinter Cell and Assassin's Creed games ready for the 3DS launch.
"We're very confident that the machine will lift the handheld market, which is what we need," said Corre.
Ubisoft is working on six titles for the as-yet unannounced launch of the system, and Corre detailed that even though the company has been working alongside Nintendo for a long time on new products, the 3DS was still able to hold surprises during development.
"They surprised us even in the end, even though we had a lot of information and were able to get ahead in the development of our games, they still surprised us each time they bring a new feature that we didn't know about."

Trophy support could be coming to PSP, if a shot spotted in a PSN GamesCom video is anything to go by.
Eagle-eyed reader HBgamer got in touch earlier today with a screen grab of the PSP XMB from the video in question.
HBgamer points out:
"If you download the GamesCom video for No Heroes Allowed, in the final shot when it goes through the usual Sony 'Make.Believe' etc it shows both PSP models sitting side by side - each sporting an image of the XMB sitting on the 'Trophy Collection' icon."
One explanation is that the icon (shown left) is for remote access to your Trophy Collection on the PS3 via the PSP, which seems the likeliest possibility.
We've contacted Sony for comment but are yet to hear back.
PSP related rumour has been flying all over the place recently. The latest whisper is that the PSP2 will have touch sensitive controls, but Sony was keen to downplay the idea of an impending sequel to its handheld.

We supposed that, when dealing with an announcement as tremendously dull as the fact that protection plans for PlayStation 3 can now be purchased via the PSN Store, you have to appreciate even the smallest sparkle. In this case, it's that PlayStation Plus subscribers can purchase a two-year extended console warranty for what the unwashed masses must spend for only one year.
Yes, your dues for being a part of the PlayStation Plus service entitle you to ... the opportunity to pay for another PlayStation service -- at a discount, mind you! We're talking $44.99 for a two-year plan, down from $59.99. Sony is keen to point out that a one-year plan costs non-subscribers $44.99; we're keen to point out that you can't get something for nothing. (And that PS+ updates have already gone bi-weekly.)

If you pre-ordered a PS Jailbreak, you might want to cancel or at least read the following. PS dealers are currently sending out warning e-mails regarding Sony’s expected firmware update that might start detecting the hack. Apparently all authorize PS jailbreak dealers are recommending all buyers to stay on firmware 3.41 till further notice.
We received a forward e-mail from one of our readers claiming that PS jailbreak suppliers are ready for Sony, but recommend that all buyers stay at firmware 3.41 til further notice or they will destroy their warranty. Read e-mail below.
“Just a friendly update email and some advice for you over the coming days and weeks.
While PS Jailbreak team have told us it should be possible to support future firmware versions on the PS3, it’s is not guaranteed, they will need to access any newer firmware’s than 3.41 and if needed release an update for the PS Jailbreak to support the newer firmware’s. So we wanted to give you all some advice that if a system update is released for the PS3 in the coming days or before you receive your PS Jailbreak which blocks system updates, we recommend that nobody update their PS3 for the time being. If a PS3 system update newer than 3.41 is released you should keep an eye on the PS Jailbreak website for news on compatibility with the PS Jailbreak on the new firmware’s. Only update your PS3 past 3.41 firmware if the PS Jailbreak team say that it’s safe to do.”
Seem like the PS jailbreak crew is ready to take on Sony. For those that pre-ordered, you might want to reconsider. This looks like it’s gonna get crazy as the battle between Sony and PS jailbreak might have just begun.

Recently I talked to DemonHades, about the current situation of his blog and forum. As we all should know right now, it was hacked several times this month, the SQL DB of the forum was spread online and finally SONY internal LV3 documentation files were linked on the frontpage.
Did DemonHades leak those files because he was mad or did the hacker put the files online to lead the community in a wrong direction against DemonHades, to finally let him shut up?
DemonHades personally told me he had nothing to do with the leak. Neither I see a reason why he should do this. The forum/blog will be back as soon as he fixed his server issues.
So why this attacks, which seem to be a private conflict between someone who wants DemonHades to give up and Demonhades himself?
At the moment DH works together with Team Jungle (known in XBOX scene as drive hackers). The most recent conspicuous event was the PSJailbreak, which seems to be a direct enemy of team Jungle's and DemonHades' BD Drive Research. Maybe members of the PSJailbreak team are behind the attacks? Imagine your own opinion.
Similar fights were and will always be part of the scene. Not everybody can be friends, I guess.

Teiyu Goto is responsible for the design of the original PlayStation, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 -- all very different-looking consoles, with one exception: the controller. This, too, was Goto's design, and in an interview with Famitsu (translated by 1UP) he shares some of its history, including the origin of its "handles" and the meaning behind the now-iconic symbols on its face buttons.
According to Goto, Sony management was initially resistant to the idea of the PS1's gamepad being too far removed from the design of Nintendo's SNES controller. "We wanted SNES gamers to upgrade to our system," Goto said of the corporate mindset at the time, "[management] said it had to be a standard type of design, or gamers wouldn't accept it." Goto disagreed, as did Sony's then-president, Norio Ohga. A pilot, Ohga liked Goto's prototype, which featured the now-standard handles, and made his feelings clear in an executive meeting. "They showed Ohga the flat controller again later and said that this is what they wanted, but Ohga was about to throw the model right back at them," Goto recalled, saying that Ohga's outrage let him know that the boss had his back -- and the handles stayed.
As for the button icons, Goto had an interesting explanation. While most people know -- or could guess -- that X and circle were meant to indicate "no" and "yes," respectively, Goto said that "the triangle refers to viewpoint; I had it represent one's head or direction," adding, "Square refers to a piece of paper; I had it represent menus or documents." These icons went on to represent the brand as a whole.

The PlayStation Move is now less than a month from hitting stores shelves, and it looks like some Sony execs are already busy starting to manage expectations. Speaking with Eurogamer this week, Sony Computer Entertainment senior vice president Ray Maguire chose to compare the Move's launch to that of the EyeToy for the PlayStation 2, saying that "exactly as with EyeToy in the PS2 days, it's a product that needs to be sampled. You need to get your hands on it. You need to understand it. You need to try it." Maguire further went on to say he's "not particularly" expecting "massive" day one sales, but that he expects sales to grow as word of mouth spreads. In other PlayStation news, Sony's Kaz Hirai seems to have effectively ruled out a download-only future for the eventual PS4 in an interview with MCV, with him saying that a "digital future is over ten years away." Hirai then went on to note that "we do business in parts of the world where network infrastructure isn't as robust as one would hope," and that "here's always going to be requirement for a business of our size and scope to have a physical medium." No word if that also applies to Sony's future handhelds as well.

News/release from GlennNZ
Hi, everyone. Justin and I (the Codetactics team) have just released version 1.3 of Mobile Assault.
The changelist is as follows:
Features
* 3 new missions
* 6 new desert building structures
* A new spy base structure
Improvements
* Updated mission ending system
* Separate objectives into primary, Secondary and Bonus categories
* In-game Message Log is scrollable and better spaced
* In-game messages are left aligned
* Better explosions and bullet-to-ground particle effects
* New icon
Fixes
* Alternating (left, right wing) missile fire is now in sync
Under The Hood
* Improved mission scripting
* Browser based mission editor (internal use only for the moment)
If anyone is wondering why such the long wait and such a limited changelist, the reason is that we've been putting a lot of effort into making a browser based mission editor. Basically the process of porting our old c++ scripted missions into the editor, and then fixing all the quirks took a really long time, but we're satisfied that the final design will stand up for quite a few releases.
Ultimately we're really keen for users to make and submit their own missions. First though, we really ought to make some tutorial videos to give a good overview of how the editor works.
By all means, let fly with the feedback.
Cheers
Glenn

News via http://forums.daedalusx64.com/viewto...t=2640&start=0
DaedalusX64 is the best Nintendo 64 Emulator available exclusively for the PSP. To eliminate some frequently asked questions: No, the Emulator is not perfect, so any graphical bugs, or speed issues are considered normal. Yes, the audio does not always play full speed, often crackles, and can cause the Emulator to crash. The latest compiled rev of DaedalusX64 can be found below, and I will try my best to upload the latest rev when I'm aware of it's commit.
What's changed in this revision:
Revision 563
[+] Rewrote resampling for ABI1 and ABI2 for a small speedup
[~] Couple of small audio related fixes
[~] Made the FPS display slightly smaller
Note: EMU sometimes hangs if a game is started with Async mode (since 562)
Revision 562
[~]Updated Compat List Titles to reflect roms.ini change. (Thanks Sterist)
Revision 561
[+] Started WIP to update audio plugin [several improvements done] (Corn and Salvy)
[~] ProcessAList deprecated( we'll just load the audio task directly)

The Australian arm of Sony Computer Entertainment has won a temporary injunction that has banned the importing or sale of a new PS3 hacking tool until August 31st.
The PSJailbreak first emerged earlier this month. It claims to allow PS3 owners to run pirated code directly from an external storage device, requiring only that the supplied USB stick is plugged into one of the console’s USB court.
Kotaku reports that the new ruling has also required that sellers of the device have had to hand over existing stock to Sony’s solicitors.
Between now and next Tuesday Sony will now concentrate on convincing courts that the temporary ban should be made permanent. If they fail the device will become available to buy on September 1st.
It’s hard to predict how that will pan out. ELSPA and Nintendo recently won a major legal battle that has outlawed the sale of DS piracy devices in the UK, but in the US it was recently ruled that the jailbreaking of Apple’s iPhone is perfectly legal.
And even if Sony does prevail, if the hack is real it’s likely that rival products will soon begin to flood the marketplace – a ban on just the PSJailbreak would do nothing to prevent this. Even if Sony secures a wider-reaching ruling, the policing of the sale of such products online is no easy task.

Sony has won a temporary ban to prevent Australian distributors selling a hardware hack for the PlayStation 3 (PS3).
The PS3Jailbreak "dongle" allows gamers to play homemade and pirated games on the game's console.
The ban prevents OzModChips, Mod Supplier and Quantronics from importing, distributing or selling the device.
Sony has until August 31 to makes its case to the court for a permanent ban.
If it fails, the chips could go on sale on 1 September.
The firm declined to comment on the proceedings. The Australian distributors could not be reached.
Homebrew games
PS3Jailbreak is a dongle containing software that allows users to save games to the console's hard drive.
It is the first product to crack the security on the PS3.
It was met with scepticism when videos of the device - posted by OzModChips - first appeared online in early August.
At the time, a spokesperson for Console Pro, another distributor based in the Netherlands, told BBC News the "dongle converts a retail unit into a dev unit".
Dev units are used by developers to test code for the machine.
"Dev mode means it will run any - even unsigned - code," said the spokesperson. "Using a simple backup maker or player software, you can play backed-up [saved] games without the actual disc being in the PS3."
The legality of these products - commonly called modchips - differs by country.
In Australia they are legal, whilst in the UK a recent court case brought by Nintendo said that "game copiers" were illegal to import, advertise or sell.
Proponents of modchips say they are the only way to play homemade games, known as "homebrews".
It is not known whether distributors in other countries have been served similar notices.
But, a spokesperson for Console Pro told BBC News in the wake of Friday's ban that the firm had "not heard anything from Sony or any lawyer or court yet".
"I really doubt Sony has grounds to ban this dongle."

Born the son of a poor immigrant, Vito is a beaten down Italian American who is trying to secure his piece of the American Dream. Looking to escape the life of poverty that consumed his childhood, Vito is soon swayed by the lure of power and wealth that a life of Organized Crime can bring.
A petty criminal his whole life, Vito, along with his childhood friend, Joe, will descend into the world of Organized Crime. Together, they will work to prove themselves to the Mob as they try to make their names on the streets of a cold and unforgiving city.

On Monday, news came down the pipeline from SCEE president Andrew House that Sony wants to focus on a younger audience for the PSP with future titles. My immediate reaction was one of shock and confusion. After all, in an interview with IndustryGamers at E3, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime noted that, 'the way I would describe the market for the Nintendo 3DS would be the launch market that we had with the Nintendo DS plus the launch market that maybe PSP had.' When your primary competitor is looking to the exact market that you've catered to, why would you abandon that market? There was a time when Sony Computer Entertainment was a trailblazer, bringing things to the industry ahead of everyone else. Nowadays, however, it seems that Sony is content to merely fall in step behind everyone else and simply try hard to not fall too far behind.

bdacanay has posted a new release of the Nintendo 64 Emulator for PSP
Heres whats new etc
DaedalusX64 is the best Nintendo 64 Emulator available exclusively for the PSP. To eliminate some frequently asked questions: No, the Emulator is not perfect, so any graphical bugs, or speed issues are considered normal. Yes, the audio does not always play full speed, often crackles, and can cause the Emulator to crash. The latest compiled rev of DaedalusX64 can be found below, and I will try my best to upload the latest rev when I'm aware of it's commit. Thank you DaedalusX64 Team, and keep up the hard work.
What's changed in this revision:
Revision 566
[!] Simplified DLParser_GBI2_Conker (Corn8)
[!] Updated roms.ini, everything should be up to date now(bdacanay)
[!] Improved check for invalid ucode tables( conker doesn't crash anymore after he winks)
[+] Rewrote DMA_SP_CopyFromRDRAM/DMA_SP_CopyToRDRAM (This heavily based in Mupen DMA code)

modrobert writes: "Descrambler over at ps3hax.net has sniffed the USB traffic during a PS Jailbreak session and posted the dumps, after that it has spread to several sites and been disassembled along the way. Since interesting data (and even whole sites) have a nasty way of disappearing on the net I pasted it all up in a text file (ASCII) you can find here. After a quick look at the stuff released it seems as if the first USB session prepares a 'landing zone' with PPC exploit code and the second session trigger some kind of overflow bug which throws execution to land somewhere within the exploit code (maybe in a buffer or stack). Hacker team successfully cloned PSJAILBREAK, now improving the shell code...
According to Mathieulh via Twitter, he and his team have successfully cloned the PSJailbreak dongle.
When asked "Will you be releasing the files now?" - Mathieulh responded "Not yet, we plan on improving the shell code first, we have no interest in releasing yet another clone"
See the twitter feed here for the source: http://twitter.com/Mathieulh
Doesn't look like there will be long to wait until the ingredients to make your own will be available, just upload to programmable USB chips and cook on gas mark 5 for 30 mins...
Update: Mathieulh has now stated "We are not releasing anything, we didn't just rip things off, we know how it works ,the clone is just a proof of concept, we plan on documenting"
Update 2
Mathieulh wrote: The exploit will be documented on the ps3wiki as soon as possible (we need to write up the whole article, will take a bit)
You can visit the Wiki here: http://ps3wiki.lan.st/index.php/Main_Page
Just to clarify - it's looking like this will be a documented proof of concept, once it's read and understood it should allow those with the appropriate technical skill level to recreate it on their own. In other words, it's essentially useless.

The company behind the controversial PSJailbreak, a device that allows users to play homebrew and pirated code on PS3 for the first time, has asserted its position in the face of Sony’s legal challenge to the product.
Last week Sony was been granted a temporary injunction preventing the importing or sale of the device.
However, PS3News reports that the manufacturers claim the challenge is nothing more than a “scare tactic” and that “'nothing illegal has been done – there is no copyrighted code, and we have not interfered with any intellectual property law”.
“This is not OzModChips Vs Sony. This is not OzModChips, Quantronics, Modsupplier Vs Sony. We would go as far as saying that is not even everyone in Australia Vs Sony. This will effect everyone that plans to buy such a device world wide,” a statement reads.
“It already sets a dangerous precedent. Everyone that was using OtherOS, everyone that has had a faulty PS3 laser and those interested in PS3 custom firmware and homebrew applications. We cannot do it alone, we need the support of everyone the homebrew community, the media, engineers that understand the inner workings and anyone else that can provide support.”
The retailer has also pledged to receive all orders it has received if Australian courts decide to uphold the existing ban.
In addition, Kotaku reports that the court hearing to access the temporary injunction previously scheduled to take place today has now been postponed until Friday September 3rd. The sales ban will therefore remain in effect until at least then.
