Gamepark Holdings has made the GP2X a system for anybody to develop emulators, games, applications, practically anything for! Having Linux as its operating system, SDL support and tools supplied by Gamepark Holdings should make developing for the GP2X a breeze. There is no doubt that there will be a large homebrewn scene with games, emulators, and applications made by talented developers. The GP32 is a great scene to be a part of, and the GP2X should be no different, if not better. Emulation is complimented with perfect button layout and resolution which might make the GP2X the new emulating king for the years to come.

Shatterdome has posted a new release of his Helicopter game for the PSP, heres whats new:
"Giving this a new thread because it's going to be my last update for awhile, was going hard at it for the last 2 days and gonna take a break now so to those people that have downloaded this and put it on their psp 3 or 4 times in the last 2 day, sorry dudes Put this one on and enjoy it for awhile, all that I will be changing in the future is error checking and some graphical changes...
Whats new ?!
Added a flying DS that drops bombs on you, add a whole new element to the game and is quite challenging now, along with the crazy speeds you can reach, I think it'll be hard to "finish" this game (ie, get to multiplier 27)"

Ahman has incorporated his IR Commander into a new app called IR Shell, heres all the info:

What is iR Shell?
- It's a PSP shell.
- It's a multitasking switcher.
- It's an infra-red universal remote (iR Commander).
- It's a screen snapshot tool.
iR Shell allows you to launch application (UMD games or homebrew) via it's basic shell interface. The current version only multi-task between the launched application and the Shell/iR Commander. You switch task by pressing the the hotkey (Left Trigger+Select). For example, you launched a UMD game from iR Shell, playing through half of it, switch to iR Commander and change a TV channel, switch back to the UMD game and the game will resume at the point where you left.
You can also choose to take screen snapshots on any UMD games or homebrew applications. Unlike other currently available snapshot tools, this one is highly compatible to most UMD games and homebrews. A Bitmap graphics picture viewer is incorporated into the shell. Currently, it only supports 8bit or 24bit color with 480 x 272 resolutions only, ideal for viewing snapshots.
The built-in iR Commander is an Infra-Red Universal Remote Control software. It allows you to control various home appliances and other infra-red based equipments. It has built-in IR codes (Pronto Hex Codes) for over 2000 devices. If you can't find the one you need from the supplied IR codes, you can download additional codes from www.remotecentral.com. It has IR codes for over 6000 equipments. The iR Commander allow user defined remotes via RDF text files. It supports bitmap graphics and key macros.
Future version of iR Shell will incorporate more built-in functions into the shell and allow you to task switch between them. For example, task switch between UMD game / Music Player / Video Player / iR Commander, etc.
If you enjoy using iR Shell, please consider donate any amount of money via Paypal to ahmanhk@hotmail.com to help development.

Dean Takahashi connects the dots between a statement made during Nvidia's conference call yesterday and the elusive release date of the PS3. Takahashi writes, "Graphics chip maker Nvidia reported today that it doesn't anticipate any royalties from Sony during the current fiscal quarter which closes at the end of April," then deduces, "since Nvidia won't be collecting royalties on the chip this quarter, that suggests that Sony isn't going to be producing machines during the months that close at the end of April, 2006."
If systems aren't being built by the end of April, it's pretty hard to imagine the PS3 being released this spring.

As is the case every year, Capcom used its annual Capcom Gamers' Day event to announce several new titles. Given the Japanese publisher's massive catalog, it should come as little surprise that it is releasing a compilation of classic puzzle games for the PlayStation Portable in the second quarter of 2006.
Capcom Puzzle World is a compendium of old-school console puzzlers shrunken down for the PSP. First up is a revamped version of Super Puzzle Fighter II, which will feature new gameplay options previously exclusive to the Japanese version of the game: Super Puzzle Fighter II: Y, which allows for chain-reaction, come-from-behind wins, and Super Puzzle Fighter II: Z, which has bricks falling up instead of down.
Another game included in Capcom Puzzle World is a port of the 1990 arcade game Block Block. The game allows cooperative block-breaking for two players, who must manipulate constantly shrinking paddles to clear the blocks.
Last but not least is the three-in-one Buster Bros. Collection, which was originally released for the PlayStation. As the name implies, the game is itself a compilation of three arcade puzzle shooters: Buster Bros., Super Buster Bros., and Buster Buddies.
All five games included in Capcom Puzzle World have been optimized for the PSP system's 16x9 letterbox screen, and all will support ad hoc wireless multiplayer. The collection will also feature a snapshot mode that lets players record their moments of triumph and lets them import their own pictures to use as level backgrounds.

Last August, Famitsu first revealed that Capcom was developing Ghosts 'n Goblins for the PlayStation Portable. However, in the interim, no North American release information was divulged by the Japanese publisher, making many wonder if the game also known as Goku Makaimura would arrive stateside.
As it turns out, American Ghosts 'n Goblins fans are in luck. Capcom today announced that the game will be released in the US under the title Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins. Set for a third-quarter ship, the game updates the infamously challenging side-scrolling series with a new plot that follows franchise hero Sir Arthur on an all-new adventure. This time around, the knight will do his best to save a princess while fighting off a horde of various undead beasties.
Though a side-scrolling adventure, Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins is based on a 3D graphics engine, providing for more-detailed characters and environments. It will also have a branching storyline that will see Arthur pick up new objects to take on new foes across five stages, each with a boss battle at the end.

A pair of oft-overlooked Dreamcast brawlers are getting a second chance at life later this year in the form of a portable compilation. Capcom today announced Power Stone Collection for the PSP, a one-two punch of Power Stone and Power Stone 2. The game is set for a North American release in the fourth quarter of 2006.
The Power Stone series of 3D fighters eschewed the dense layers of strategy one might find in a franchise like Virtua Fighter in favor of a more frantic, lighthearted take on the genre. One of the series' big selling points was its array of interactive environments, which sought to deliver the simple thrill of beating people up with whatever furniture was at hand. For Power Stone 2, Capcom upped the chaos inherent to the series' fights by adding four-player melees to the mix.
Capcom is promising a number of enhancements and revisions for both games, starting with ad hoc wireless multiplayer battles using just one copy of the game. Both titles will also feature a number of new weapons and a new camera system designed with the PSP in mind; players will be able to toggle between wide, close, and midrange views of the action in the middle of a fight.
There are also a number of game-specific enhancements included. The original Power Stone's roster will be joined by the four new characters from Power Stone 2, and the game's interface has also been overhauled with redesigned health bars and arrows on the radar screen indicating the location of loose power stones. For Power Stone 2, Capcom is including an adventure mode that retains the original's item creation mechanic with several new items added to the mix, and a Bomber Battle minigame that wasn't included in the Dreamcast version of the game.

Plynx who has already released an Atari Lynx emulator for the PSP has now ported Virtual Jaguar the Atari Jaguar Emulator to the PSP.

Heres what he posted:

I've tried, just for fun, to port Virtual Jaguar to the PSP. Put the Jaguar BIOS image (jagboot.rom) in the same directory as the EBOOT. Rename the cartridge image to cf.jag and put it in the same directory. I've tried Cannon Fodder and Atari Karts ... and ... it's pretty slow, be patient
See Virtual Jaguar website for compatibility stats. (DSP is not enabled)
Keys :
A - Square
B - Triangle
C - Circle
Pause - Start
Option - Select

It seems most Commercial Jaguar games work and although the speed is very slow its the first Jaguar emulator for not only the PSP but im sure any console

We recently came upon some news that may point to the possibility that Sony is considering using large-capacity memory for what could be the second version of the PlayStation Portable. According to the Korean online publication Chosunilbo, Samsung admitted that they will not be capable of filling a large order of NAND chips for Sony, which we presume was a statement borne out of a request made by the Japanese game company. While this merely hints that planning has already begun for the PSP2, the more interesting bit of news is that Samsung, when pressed with the question regarding if the order was placed specifically for the PSP2, declined to comment. In an industry when what’s not said is nearly as important as what is, that statement could lean towards affirmative territory.
Another report on the site throws a little more fuel on the fire by suggesting that Sony may take a different approach to its storage woes. Instead of the more expensive flash chips, Sony may consider resorting to hard disk drives for storage. This move would significantly drive manufacturing costs down which, assuming they also decide to quit this whole UMD and Memory Stick nonsense, would mean that Sony finally gets to turn a profit from their foray into the portable biz.
I’m feeling ambivalent about this rumor. I can’t help but feel slightly cheated that they’re already thinking about making an upgraded version of the PSP without even having given the current version its due by presenting us with better games and cheaper prices on UMDs. And while I’m led to think that putting out the PSP2 could be Sony’s try at recouping their losses from weak media sales, I think current PSP owners are justified if they asked the question, “Where’s the love, Sony?”
