This is getting like the early days of the Scene with superfast updates on this emulator:
NJ has updated his emulator NeoGeo CDZ to the PSP, heres the info:
<blockquote>Back memory read/write problem fixed. Thanks for reporting
New font completed, user interface renewal underway. I’m planning to use anti-alias and shadow process for font (and icon). I was think of using graphic unit of the PSP, but it seems the software can do fast enough. Dialog is not completed, still using very old UI (50% completed). There will be no updates until it is completed, and the version number will be 0.1. But it won’t be an official version still..</blockquote> (thanks to Jeff for the translation.)

"ah well... its not quite in the State i wanted it to be for a first Release, but i still decided to post a "release candidate". comments welcomed. corrections and additions are more than appriciated.

News article from CVG
Syphon Filter hero and precision strike operative Gabe Logan is infiltrating PSP this summer in Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, Sony's revealed. Logan, working for a secret black ops US agency in this latest adventure, is fighting global terrorism and wading through 23 missions in an attempt to retrieve Dark Mirror, a lethal weapon that apparently threatens Earth's populace.
Sony says that Dark Mirror has been tailor-made for PSP, and there's promise of enhanced enemy AI and new deadly melee attacks for Logan. Gabe's additionally managed to get his agent mitts on a new rifle that employs the latest darts technology, and a snazzy pair of vision enhancement goggles - so no excuse for not hitting the bullseye every time then, we guess.
What's more, Syphon Filter's graphics engine has been overhauled for this PSP outing and we can also expect a difficulty level that adapts to our prowess during the action. Sony adds that there's "a bonus mission for fans of the franchise which clarifies the ending of the previous episode - Omega Strain" too and accompanying single-player is a multiplayer component that features five "multi-purpose" maps.

News from CVG
Last week, we reported on rumours that Sony's forthcoming PS3 was set to feature an Xbox Live-style online service, muscling in on an area in home console-ing where Microsoft currently has a clear lead. Now, reports are hitting the 'net exposing some more of the PS3's impressive features - including Digital Video Recording, an iTunes-style download service and Location Free Player functionality.
Once again, the news comes direct from US magazine PSM, so apologies for the occassional fanboy-rallying enthusiasm. Getting the vagueries out of the way first, the PS3 is said to have online features surpassing Xbox Live and Media Centre capabilities beyond Microsoft's next-gen offering too.
More solidly though, the PS3 will supposedly have full DVR functionality, meaning you'll be able to digitally record all your favourite TV shows for later viewing in much the same way as Sky's Plus service. What's more, it seems you can use your PSP to control the DVR functionality.
That's not the only PSP/PS3 connectivity feature though. Apparently, the PS3 will act as a Location Free Player, meaning you can download videos from the console to the handheld remotely via the 'net, as well as watch Blu-ray movies and DVDs. In fact, it looks like the internet is going to play a major part in Sony's next-gen plans with an iTunes-style service in the works, enabling access to movies and music.
Although no exact word emerged on a release for the PS3, it seems that developers are being told to prepare for an autumn release.
Truth? Fiction? We'll end with the obligatory E3 wait-and-see comment for the time being.

Gamefront has some PS3 tidbits that appeared in the latest issue of PSM magazine. The unit is going to also function as a digital vidoe recorder apparently, as well as receive regular firmware updates over the internet. The unit will also has some sort of region free setup with PSP. See the translation below, click read more for all of it.
-are to be in the USA by far more plays for the PS3 in work, than originally accepted. - says a not more near well-known developer that it received the final development hardware of the PlayStation3 at the beginning of January 2006; the hardware is faster, than it expected it.
the PlayStation3 is to possess functions one ' digitally video recorder ' (DVR). In addition there is to be a Download service in the kind of iTunes for High definition films and music. - the PlayStation3 is to exceed the Media center functions of the Xbox 360. All important video and audio formats can be streamen over a ' Home network '.
- a ' location Free' rendition over PSP is planned: Thus one is to be able to show video, photo, music, DVDs, uvm. from the ' Home network ' world-wide over the InterNet. - PSP is to be able to send data to the PlayStation3: So one could send a MEMORY stick with Urblaubsfotos of the DigiCam over PSP home to the PS3.
- beside regular firmware updates of the PSP there is to be similar updates perhaps also for PlayStation3.
- the Blu ray functionality of the PlayStation3 is more favorable than a normal Blu ray Player, because the Cell and RSX chip settle many things during the reading of the Discs.
- the PS3 is to appear in the autumn 2006 in the USA. When the on-line service of the PS3 will start, is unclear. Since however starting titles are equipped with ONLINE functions, the service should probably be ready for the sales start

Source Gamesradar:
David Jaffe the creator of the magnificent PS2 game God of War has expressed his dislike of cutscenes in games and has started taking them out of the top secret project he's working on for PSP.
Writing in his latest blog, Jaffe states that any scene that takes control away from the player in order to progress the storyline "pulls you out of the game - it's almost like you appreciate the creativity but as a game it doesn't work".
With this in mind Jaffe and his team have started stripping the PSP game they're currently developing of all cutscenes, while still trying to convey meaning and elements of plot. As Jaffe explains, this won't be easy, "the real trick is how do we keep you in the game and make it more than a game, make it emotional and make it political."
So Jaffe's game is going to be "emotional" and "political". Could it be a game of Evita the Musical? We'll have to wait and see.

A former employee of Sony Online Entertainment has spoken out about how an online article criticising the PlayStation 3 ended up getting him fired from the company.
In an interview with PS3week, former SOE 3D artist Josh Robinson said: "All I really did was write a few paragraphs that gave my opinion on publicly released information... I didn’t reveal any tech info and I didn’t reveal different shipping plans. I’m still in awe at the whole uproar over what amounts to NO information."
In January, Robinson posted an article on his blog which read: "Our game just keeps getting moved back... And back... And back. Again, where is the box? Where is the final system? When is it coming out? No one knows and in the mean time people in the industry are starting to get just a little salty."
"You could always tell where the PS3 dev box was because it’s the room that had the F-bomb coming out of it half the day," he added.
But the comments most likely to have riled Sony executives were to do with the PS3's technical capabilities versus those of the Xbox 360: "I’ve also talked with people on the technical side of the Xbox 360. The consistent comment I am hearing from people on my end is, 'The Xbox 360 is better'," Robinson wrote.
"They are saying that it is capable of just doing more."
Robinson told PS3week that he asked at least two Sony employees to read the blog entry before it was posted, and even showed it to an SOE producer. "We were all in agreement that I was not breaking NDA with what I was saying," he said.
However, according to Robinson, he was "Let go at Sony after the article was plopped on the desk of Sony corporate. I was also asked to remove the article immediately, which I did without any resistance."
Although Robinson has defended his right to publish the article, he claims that he has no bad feelings towards SOE: "It was something unfortunate that happened and I sincerely hope Sony isn’t damaged by it... In fact I cannot say enough nice things about the CEO and the VP of the company."
"Did I knowingly break NDA? I absolutely did not. I would never do that and I would never want to hurt Sony Online. Did I dance in the grey area by even opening my mouth? Yes I did and I was fired for it."
Robinson said he received four or five job offers immediately after leaving Sony, and even got a book deal as a result of the article. He has now accepted a new position at an unnamed company in the Santa Monica area - but while Robinson is optimistic about the future, he has clearly learned a lesson from his experience.
"I guess the new rule for me is, don’t ever say anything at all about anything. Ever... Ever."

More News about the new Map Navigation Software for PSP from <a href="http://www.lik-sang.com/news.php?artc=3790&lsaid=219793" target="_blank" >Lik Sang</a>.
Sony has revealed the map software Minna no Chizu ("Everybody's Map") for Japan, which represents a navigational system of some sort, that does NOT make use of GPS. Instead, Sony is utilizing standard city maps (teaming up with specialist Zenrin, in order to use their resources), which get displayed on the PSP: you can freely turn the maps and find interesting locations (e.g. restaurants, shops, etc.). Furthermore, you can search for addresses, save the spots you like most as favorites, and are also able to add comments to them.
These places and comments can be exchanged with other PSP users via Wi-Fi. Furthermore Sony Style will sell add-ons under the codename "Guide Information" to be used with the main software. These extras will cost about 105 yen each, and data are downloaded to the user's Memory Stick. These "Guide Information" contents will contain information about local cafes, restaurants, tourist spots, and so on. Sony Style plans to offer 200-300 of these Guide Information packs. Sony intends to release Everybody's Map on April 20th. After the Talkman, this is another title that should prove to be helpful for those who plan their first pilgrimage to the Mother country of video games.

Yeldarb has released a new compliment to his PSP Programming Tutorials (www.scriptscribbler.com/psp/). Along with the C Programming Language tutorials that he has been working on, he has now added a Lua tutorial series as well. The first two lessons (www.scriptscribbler.com/psp/lua/lesson01.htm and www.scriptscribbler.com/psp/lua/lesson02.htm) have been published. They are based off of whitehawk’s old Lua tutorials, but have been completely rewritten and revamped. The first lesson runs you through creating your first script. The second goes more in depth into programming structures and covers everything from displaying images, to playing sound, to taking user input. They are geared towards beginning programmers and are written at a level that should be comprehendible to all. With the new 2.60 EBOOT Loader, this should be a valuable resource for 2.60 users looking to make their entrance onto the scene.
That was written by Yeldarb by the way. He told us just to ignore the third person. I know for fact his tutorials are good though. I myself have been reading them for the last few weeks and with the constant updates he has been putting into these there is no reason for you to not check them out at least.

I have written 3 exams the last 4 days and tomorrow will be the next one. And the exams really suck. So please stop sending me mails and queries when I release the single player game. It still doesn't load the most levels and I don't know when I can fix this. The next weekend I have some time for coding. But it is an ID Software game so always remember the words of this man:

PSMonkey posted this news on his site:
"Our fellow monkey Wally has discovered something interesting. He has found a way to make waverace 64 show the n64 logo. It's a rather interesting hack. Whats going on is waverace progresses far enough to setup the n64 logo into the framebuffer but then haults on an unemulated opcode. So by supressing the unemulated opcodes for now the emulator is able to loop long enough for the video code to force a vsync and make the emulator draw the framebuffer to the screen. So why does this matter? It shows the emulator can progress further then originaly though. It does not mean we are close to running comercial roms yet but it does mean with a little more work we could start seeing more results.
So we will have to see how things progress. So huge credit to wally for finding the hack & $n!pR for his continual testing of the emulator for me.

The PS3 Killzone clip may have been the most talked-about tech demo at the Sony pre-E3 press conference, but one trailer wasn't far behind. The teaser for MotorStorm, from Evolution Studios, showed all types of vehicles racing against photorealistic backgrounds and climaxed with a tumbling buggy headed straight for an unsuspecting motorbike rider.
As great of a cliffhanger as the trailer was, the question on everyone's mind was, "When can I play it?" As gamers know, just because a trailer is done doesn't mean that the game is anywhere close to completion.
MotorStorm trailer Off-roading carnage abounds in this trailer from Sony's E3 press conference. MotorStorm, however, may speed out of the gates alongside the PlayStation 3. On Evolution Studios' Web site, the company says that it is working on "a 'next-gen' PS3 launch title called MotorStorm" (emphasis added).
So, can gamers expect to trade paint and bend fenders when the PS3 finally comes out? Sony representatives would not comment on the subject, issuing what is fast becoming their answer to "Microsoft does not comment on rumors or speculation." "There has been no official announcement on launch software titles for PlayStation 3," said a Sony rep.
Release dates for the PlayStation 3 launch titles (as well as the console itself) remain largely up in the air, and only a handful of games are currently scheduled for release this year.

Now first off i think all coders do a fantastic job for every homebrew and emulation scene on any console or computer for that matter. Without them and the hackers you wouldnt have a scene and its as simple as that.
What ever the actions they do and the sometimes strange and unfathomable way that certain releases come out we as a site and a scene thank each and every coder for their work.
Remember that Hero Worshipping one coder is really unfair to all the others who made it easy for that coder to release his work in the first place, the scene and the sites who support it, all work together (in a fashion ) but we are all part of the family and with that in mind shouldnt all homebrew releases be free.
If the person or persons use say devkits or others code to work on their commercial homebrew then shouldnt they get a cut of any profit.
The Dreamcast scene does have commercial homebrew but thats a scene long left to die because of Sega but the PSP is a strong and succesful console and will they be happy to see commercial homebrew ?
We have seen the Bleemcast release on the Dreamcast which gave the Dreamcast an excellent PS1 Emulator but for one game releases, but believe me they made the original game look way better. But Sony used their financial muscle to kill that project dead and so do any coders really want to be sued by Sony if even one PSP gets bricked?
Selling Homebrew even if you made it 100% yourself is a risky adventure.
Whats your thoughts ?
