February 15th, 2006 - Super Mario War v1.10b5 It's still a wip version, and still need some rework, but since it's already playable and fun, I decided to release a first version.
The PS2 version is a based on an older version of smw (1.10), but should be updated in the future to be inline with the official version. For those who noticed, yes I almost took the Gawd design for the release page... thanks to him

In the frenzied marketing run-up to the release of its PlayStation 3, Sony cranked up the heat by offering a survey to its Playstation Underground members about HDTV use and importance. In the middle of that survey Sony let slip a little tantalizing tidbit of info about the PS3 and 1080p, that progressive-scanning holy grail of HDTVocity which amounts to the highest resolution the standard can achieve. Our friends and brethren at Kotaku got their hands on that Sony survey, and direct our attention to question number three:
3. The PlayStation®3 will include BluRay™, the high definition DVD technology, and support games in resolutions of up to 1080p, (the highest supported standard on the market.) Given that information, please choose the statement below that best describes you.
Not so fast—it might not be that easy to just send 1080p to a monitor and have it received, no questions asked. That 1080p capability is all well and good, but will it support the still-being-determined copy protection scheme known as HDCP? Will the monitors be able to receive it? The way 1080p monitors and 1080p sources talk to each other these days is still in its infancy, so good luck if you want to actually use this 1080p capability.

An article in Variety claims that Sony is cutting back on UMD releases. While comedies are doing well, other genres simply aren't getting much traction." From the article: "Some have reasoned that sales may have slowed recently because of a shortage of new titles in the last month and because users may be illegally copying films from DVDs onto a memory chip the PSPs can read. Sony is hoping to combat online piracy starting in March when it begins selling movies online via its Connect digital media store. Users will be able to download a pic and watch it on PSP without a disc.

Essentials explores the origin story of Sam Fisher, featuring new and classic maps from the Splinter Cell series. After learning about the death of his daughter, Sam disappears and is eventually discovered by Homeland Security agents in New Orleans. Surveillance photos show Sam in the company of Emile Dufraisne, a wanted terrorist. What's the Third Echelon's best agent dealing with terrorists? As Sam defends himself, all will be revealed.
In these new shots you can see some of the classic Splinter Cell maps featured in the handheld version. Revisited in the single-player game are the Oil Rig from the original Splinter Cell and Factory from Chaos Theory, an all-new mission set in Columbia is also pictured.
Splinter Cell Essentials creeps into stores on March 31.

Premier console fighter Tekken is making the transition to PSP, the latest issue of Japanese mag Famitsu has revealed.
The game, titled Tekken Dark Resurrection, is an expanded handheld adaptation of the latest console offering Tekken 5, sharing many characters and features with its PS2 cousin. Time Attack, multiplayer and mini-game modes are all offered in the PSP version, along with brand new movie opening scenes and a slew of additional items.
No screenshots of the game are offered in the mag so we can't yet comment on the visual splendour of the handheld Tekken, but with the game currently penned for a summer release in Japan, we're sure there's not long to wait before official images emerge.

George Bain to provide developer insight on PS3
Interactive entertainment recruiter Mary-Margaret has announced plans to host a developer presentation in London which will include a discussion on the PS3 from SCEE developer support manager, George Bain.
The event will take place at O'Neill's Irish pub in London's Kings Cross on the 22nd February, and entry will be free of charge. Bain will be offering insight into the challenges and opportunities for game development on Sony's next-generation console.
The technical presentation will serve as an introduction to the PS3, offering an overview of the system architecture, the Cell processor and new graphics processor (RSX) plus a discussion of the Blu-Ray storage medium adopted by Sony.
A well known face in the development community, Bain has been working for SCEE since 1997 and manages the developer support team - providing support services for all SCEE partners, development studios and affiliated software production firms. In addition to his multiple on-site visits and in-house consultancy, he has presented at numerous venues for other local IGDA chapters, GDCE, AGDC, KRI and SCE Developer Conferences.
Mary-Margaret is a recruitment services provider specialising in the interactive entertainment industry, and was co-founded in 1996 by Mary-Margaret Walker. The co-founder and company CEO, alongside Fiona Cherbank, director of business development, will be available at the event to meet and greet IGDA guests.

Next Generation (which has generally been fairly reliable regarding information of this nature) has a report indicating that the PlayStation 3 may be launching in September of this year. They also have information about the Sony online console service that has been rumoured for the last few weeks. Apparently called HUB, they theorize details about that aspect of the console will be made available in the next few weeks. From the article: "PlayStation HUB is being described to developers as a 'subscriber service' suggesting a monthly charge. We understand the service is being created by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, although this is unconfirmed. Sony boss Howard Stringer is pushing for all media content to be available for distribution over PlayStation HUB, such as music and movies, thus opening up a powerful iTunes-like distribution network for Sony.

If you'd have asked us last week -- as the AACS licensing authority was supposedly going to finalize the copy-protection standard -- whether we were all good to go with all the next-gen optical formats' peripheral standards, we'd have probably given you the nod. But, in fact, that's not the case; AACS (Advanced Access Content System), one of the many copy protection standards being folded into high definition discs, is holding up both standards, and so long as they're both committed to running with it, they're going to be delayed -- which would, in theory, take away Blu-ray's late-release handicap with HD DVD. Then again, maybe not; the AACS board is supposed to meet on the 23rd or 24th of this month, and apparently expects to have this all sorted out within as little as two to three weeks. Guess we'll have to wait and see on this one.

PSMonkey has posted some great news about the progression of his Nintendo 64 Emulator for the PSP, he decided to write a Nintendo 64 emulator from scratch to get a better emulator in the long run and now it looks like things are already starting to come along nicely, heres what he posted:

O M F GOD
God bless my gf and her taking over the pc for 20 mins. If not for her I would have not tested out all the PD roms I have on my PSP. Thanks to this I now have 2 count that, 2 brand new demos up and running. They are liners & 1964. Both would actualy progress furter if not for the lack of input/pif emulation.
Tomorrow I plan to test more PD roms and see if others work. At the moment everything else causes the psp to lock up somewhere (and roughly near each other). So hopefuly I can debug and fix this soon. Anyways great news & enjoy the screenshots (see comment section)!!!
P.S. The Framerate is around 5.0-7.4 fps. A vast improvement over the previous 1.8 fps i was getting on fire demo.

Check out the screenshots of this improving Nintendo 64 Emulator for the PSP on his site hosted by DCEmu/Emulation 64 Network here --> http://nemo.dcemu.co.uk

Shatterdome has updated his PSP Helicopter game, heres whats new:

Anyways i've updated and skipped a bunch of decimal points to 0.5 :P As I feel i'm at least, if not more then halfway done this biatch...
Big feature added as well, high scores....yes you can now keep track of your momentous accomplishments in this game !! :P Yet to put in a name entering system, but that will come in time...
Next thing is implementing mp3 playback, then allowing users to create a playlist, maybe with 10 songs to start, that will hopefully play from the psp/music dir gonna get working on that now.... thx for looking...
damn, think rar'ing the file messed with my savegame.dat..so if you get alot of crazy numbers in the high scores, just open savegame.dat(is under psp/game/helicopter) in notepad, select all the giberish and delete it, and save it...then start the game, dont goto high scores, play one round of the game first, and all will be good...going to see why raring messed it up...
