According to reports, Sony is set to reveal a premium PSN service at this year's E3, which will give users access to a range of new features for under £50 per year.
VG247 has said that the new pay-for service will offer a string of new features and that subscribers will be given one free PSN game from a choice of "two to four" every month.
"If you work it out, PSN games cost an average of £6-9 each, so over a year you're basically going to be breaking even," a source told the site.
They also revealed that a music streaming application similar to Spotify will be announced at the company's press conference on June 15. The application is thought to be able to run in the background while games are being played.
Access to the new features will cost "less than £50 per year" and their roll out reportedly won't affect the current service offered at all. That will continue with the premium model being an optional extra.
Rumours that cross-game voice chat will be saved as a paid feature are apparently not true - "I can tell you now, 100 percent, that that's not the case," said the source.
The report ties in with previous indications by Sony that it would be introducing an Xbox Live-like subscription model at some point in the future.
"Especially in the online area, we are studying the possibility of introducing a subscription model, offering premium content and services, in addition to the current free services," Kaz Hirai told investors back in November.
He underlined then that multiplayer functionality, Home and other features that are currently free would remain so.

European PlayStation 3 owners will soon be able to access a new movie streaming service, MUBI, via the PlayStation Network.
The service aims to differentiate itself from other movie services by offering social networking functions and a selection of art-house, independent and other alternative films playing the festival circuits.
"We are not just an online cinema and we are not just some tech and film geeks in California - well, some of us are, yes - but we are 300,000 friends talking, discovering, and sharing films with one another every day," said MUBI on the official PlayStation blog.
The service claims 700 new users a day, with a new sign-up every two minutes. It also promises "exclusive online premieres, collaborations with international film festivals, and retrospectives of some of the best cinema the world has ever seen."
An official announcement is expected today at the Cannes Film Festival. MUBI will initially launch in the UK, Italy, France, Ireland, Iberia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux, Nordic countries, Australia and New Zealand.

I have updated PSPUAE to work with HalfByte Loader using the new Patapon2 Demo.
Nothing really changed, just updated and dumped some code. Loads to do still, but Im back in the groove of messing with PSPUAE again.
You will require the latest version of the Patapon2 Save exploit from wololo's blog page.
http://wololo.net/wagic/hbl/
I have tested it on my Phat PSP (CFW 5.50) and PSPGo (OFW 6.20)
*Incase you dont know what PSPUAE is, its an emulator for the great Commodore Amiga line of computers.*
Download Attached.

News/release from Sektor
I compiled this game for PSP a while back but it only runs at 13 FPS due to the crazy scaling of 320x240 to 640x480 and then SDL scaling to 480x272. If I disable the game's scaling or tell the game to run at 480x272, the video output becomes scrambled.
Anyone willing to fix this display problem or give some advice? I didn't have that issue on other platforms, so I assume it's a limitation of PSP SDL.

Square Enix will release PSP game Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep in Europe on 10th September.
This handheld adventure turns the clock back and serves as a prequel to the series' very first game on PS2. The Disney-meets-JRPG story has "exceptional graphics" and is "one of the most beautiful titles ever" on PSP, claim the people trying to sell it.
More importantly, there's multiplayer for six people: either fighting against each other; teaming-up for a wave-based arena mode; racing on hovering Keyblades; or strategising on the Command Board.

DCEmu member Uberjack has released a new version of his Sega Master System/Game Gear emulator for the PSP:
As promised, here’s the unfinished version of SMS Plus with Ad-hoc play. I’m posting it here with the hope that someone will be interested enough in continuing/finishing the project. Please note that the program is pre-alpha, and unsupported – it will allow you to start and play ad-hoc games, but the two sides may eventually get out of sync and go off on their own. Additionally, once you leave a game to return to the menu, you may not be able to resume the game successfully.
To get started, load a new game, and return to the main menu. To host a game, open the Netplay tab, and select Host game. To join a game, open the Netplay tab, and select Join game. A list of hosts will appear on the right-hand side of the screen – select one and press X. The host will send the client the ROM (client doesn’t need to have it), and the two sides can start playing. Host is always P1, client is P2.
Again, please note that this program is incomplete. I offer no support for it; I’m only posting it here with the hope that someone will be interested enough to finish it. Full source code is available from my PSP SVN repository.

Ubisoft will release a new retail version of Assassin’s Creed II in June.
Dubbed the Complete Edition, this SKU includes a full copy of the game and both DLC expansions: The Battle of Forli and Bonfire of the Vanites.
It also includes three Templar Secret locations that were previously only available in the special Assassin’s Creed II: Black Edition, according to Play.com.
The Complete Edition will only be available for Xbox 360 and PS3, and will be released in the UK on June 4th.
Ubisoft has already revealed the next entry in the series, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, which follows on from the story of Assassin’s Creed II. The game is expected on shelves by the end of the year.

News via http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3179333
Sometimes we simply can't use the word "rumor" enough, but reports are circulating today regarding the possible features and reveal dates for the next PlayStation Portable. VG247 rounds up the reports, which describe everything from online capabilities to control input methods. In terms of product features, rumor has it the device will feature two cameras, one facing forward and one backward. It has a touch screen, but keeps its buttons as well. It may be 3G enabled, though a service provider hasn't been mentioned. It also might run on a four-core Cell CPU, as compared to the PS3's eight-core. And following in the footsteps of the PSP Go, it's likely to be free of physical media entirely.
As for announcement timing, rumors circulated last week that it was set to be an E3 reveal this year. Another source claims it's "99 percent" certain that the announcement won't come from E3. But kits and prototypes are supposedly already in the hands of developers, and the company is said to be shooting for a 2011 release. One source claims this makes it a likely announcement for the Tokyo Game Show or Gamescom.
An impending PSP2 launch seems likely, given the PlayStation Portable's slipping sales performance. The PSP Go was largely seen as a stop-gap solution for whatever Sony has coming next. Still, it's wise to be skeptical about these rumors and keep in mind that they're all unconfirmed. We wouldn't be surprised to see at least a few of them come true, but as always Sony has the final word.

If you thought a hint that PSP2 may make an appearance at E3 was exciting, get a load of this shit.
Baby steps.
MCV rumoured last week that Sony “could” announce PSP2 at E3.
VG247 goes digging. According to a source familiar with the matter, it’s “99 percent” it isn’t an E3 reveal.
But there’s much, much more.
Multiple British sources have confirmed that PSP2 NDAs have been in place at publishers and developers for many months.
PSP2 has two cameras, one forward and one backward facing.
It has a touch-screen, but apparently it has retained the trademark physical PlayStation buttons.
UK sources were previously working towards a “2010″ release. This is now “2011″.
One source would be “amazed” if there was any kind of physical media involved. We’ve been told it “could” be 3G-enabled, as opposed to the WiFi-only PSP go. This bit was sketchy.
Multiple PSP2 games are being made in Britain right now. Some have even already been canned.
There have been “finished units” in the UK, but we haven’t spoken to anyone that’s seen a final case.
When asked directly about reveal timing, one source said, “If the games were aiming for end 2010, beginning 2011, and now it’s a 2011 release, I’d say a gamescom or TGS announce for launch early next year”.
One source told us the machine is “****ing powerful,” being based on a four-core Cell CPU. PS3 runs on an eight-core version.
Crapped yourself yet? Good. Remember, “99 percent” certainty leaves “1 percent” of uncertainty. Don’t take your eyes of Jack’s hands in Sony’s E3 press conference on June 15.
We will, of course, be there.

Guitar Hero 6 will not feature playable celebrity likenesses.
Maybe legal arguments with No Doubt and Courtney Love have swayed Activision.
The game will instead allow real-life legends like Metallica founder (and drummer) Lars Ulrich to be recruited in Quest mode, according to Official Xbox Magazine (thanks VG247). Complete their songs and you'll unlock a uniquely-powered alter-ego. Character Warrior Lars has a maximum 6x multiplayer.
Kiss hero Gene Simmons will narrate the Quest mode.
Guitar Hero 6 aims to return to the series' foundations, reinstating the old characters and focusing more on Rock n' Roll.
Streakers, Momentum and Do or Die will be available in online modes, and all DLC will be carried over into the new game.
Glam rockers Queen, Kiss and Black Sabbath have been confirmed
Guitar Hero 6 hasn't been officially unveiled but has been talked about by Activision in financial reports gone by. Expect full word soon, especially with E3 around the corner.

Capcom has revealed that PlayStation 3 owners playing Lost Planet 2 will soon be able to download Helghast skins for the game for free.
The Helghast Assault and Helghast Scout troopers will both be made available at the end of June, according to the official PlayStation Blog. Check out the video below to see them in action.
The Helghast are exclusive to the PS3 version, obviously, as were the Monster Hunter skins.
Xbox 360 owners needn't cry though, because they got their own exclusives in the shapes of Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago, courtesy of the Microsoft-published Gears of War series.
Capcom has been pretty keen with the old downloadable skins and cross-series exchanges - Frank West from Dead Rising is also lurking in Lost Planet 2 somewhere, and Albert Wesker from Resident Evil was a pre-order incentive.

Developer Treyarch believes Call of Duty: Black Ops will finally put the studio on level pegging with IP pace-setter Infinity Ward.
"We've taken some creative risks," studio boss Mark Lamia told Official Xbox Magazine (scanned by WePlayCOD and picked up by VG247). "We want to do something different than we've done before.
"It's time," Lamia added. "We want the game to speak for itself."
Those creative risks Lamia mentioned included letting players pilot helicopters and empty rounds of missiles (the series has previously limited players to manning a mounted mini-gun).
Other vehicles will return but "not in the way you remember them from [World at War]," according to the preview.
In Black Ops, you're an elite soldier on a hush-hush mission with orders to get the job done under any circumstances. The magazine preview mentioned that you will come into contact with North Vietnamese troops at some point.
Another headline new feature is four-player co-operative play. Treyarch revealed that there will be dedicated co-operative servers to power this.
Multiplayer will of course return, and Treyarch appears keen to gain ground in this area. Internally multiplayer was up and running very early, and feedback from World at War has been fastidiously researched.
Matchmaking has apparently been altered to make playing with friends easier, and character creation will use kit and perks to offer more customisation than before.
Treyarch changed the subject when OXM asked about a wave-based Nazi zombie mode.
A multiplayer beta is being "considered".
Last week USA Today took us through a similar opening portion of Black Ops. Details spilled from that preview include the double-viewpoint storyline, revelation of a crossbow weapon and a spot of cliff-hanging.
Call of Duty: Black Ops is due for release on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on 9th November.

Eurogamer has learned that the PSP2 can be compared to "iPhone on steroids".
Our informant corroborated what VG247 learned earlier today: that the PSP2 has a touch-screen and two cameras (one facing in, one out).
Eurogamer also understands that the likelihood of PSP2 being at E3 - on public display, at least - is slimmer than Cheryl Cole at an emotional low.
VG247 went on to claim that PSP2 games were in development in Britain right now and are being made with a 2011 release in mind. The PSP2, like the PSPgo, will probably drop physical media.
Digital Foundry revealed last July that the PSP2 will have a quad core PowerVR graphics chip.
Richard Leadbetter also put his knowledge of the PSP2 and DS2 together for a theoretical showdown.
