arner Bros. has announced the development of a new Mortal Kombat game for release on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2011.
Developed by NetherRealm Studios, led by series co-creator Ed Boon, Mortal Kombat follows Street Fighter IV's example and races back to its two-dimensional roots.
Apparently it's built on a new engine and in additional the usual one-on-one antics it promises new game modes.
One of these will allow for two-on-two tag-team battles, and there's also talk of something called the Co-op Arcade mode.
We're also promised "the deepest story mode of any fighting game" and, of course, gory fatalities,

Greig 'Theremin Hero' Stewart has developed a way to play Guitar Hero with a theremin, like an air guitar. The results speak for themselves, in this rocking video complete with awesome costumes and some sweet artwork. It even has a Co-op mode. ROCK ON! This needs to be a real product!"
The beginning is a bit annoying, but this has to be one of the coolest "projects" I've seen in a long time.

Sony has confirmed that trailer videos for "PS4" doing the rounds on YouTube are nothing to do with the company.
"I can confirm that this video is not from SCE [Sony Computer Entertainment]," a PR representative told Game Informer.
The chances of Sony announcing a new home console next week were zero, obviously, but the 3D focus of the videos - one of which you can watch below - led some to believe that it might be a cunning viral campaign for PlayStation 3's expanding range of features, including stereoscopic 3D.
Sony's E3 press conference is on Tuesday 15th June at 12pm PST / 8pm BST, and the company is expected to show off the likes of Killzone 3, and provide more information on PlayStation Move and its 3D products.

June 11th, 2010, 01:26 Posted By: wraggster
As it releases its first four 3D-enabled games for PlayStation 3, Sony has begun to reveal its E3 hand, as well as ongoing plans for 3D viewing at home.
The first Sony 3D TV - the Bravia KDL-HX803 - goes on sale tomorrow from around 600 UK stores, and will support 3D gaming and Blu-ray playback for those devices that offer it. The screen will require the separate purchase of a 3D transmitter and glasses, though a higher-end screen due in July will include integrated 3D.
While much of Sony's London press briefing this morning focused on its releases in cinemas and on Blu-ray, there was confirmation of further 3D upgrades for PS3 - including 3D Blu-ray support. "All PlayStation 3s will be able to playback 3D games and movies by the end of this year," said Christian Brown, senior product manager at Sony Consumer Electronics.
"This is really giving the games a deeper experience. We've spoken to a lot of people, and the gamers are the people who are really taking this on board very very quickly, it gives them an advantage... against the people they are playing against online."
As well as 3D updates to PSN titles WipEout HD, Super Stardust HD and PAIN - plus a 3D demo of the latest Motorstorm title - Sony has revealed that its upcoming Move motion controller will be twinned with 3D stereoscopy.
The first game to offer this will be boxing title The Fight: Lights Out. Outside of Move, Killzone 3 and the next Gran Turismo game will be available in 3D, with many more reveals promised at E3.
With prices starting at £1400 and reaching as high as £3500 the first 3D Bravia screens may prove too pricy for most consumers. Sony drew proud reference, however, to a projection by Future Source Consulting claiming 40 per cent of TVs will be 3D by 2014.

Sony has eagerly announced the 3D launch for PS3, however, some of us are less excited over the upcoming blur relying on optical contraptions. Quote: 'Hi everyone! The moment is here - starting tomorrow, high-definition stereoscopic 3D gaming will be available in your very own living rooms! As you already know, all PlayStation 3 systems are already equipped with everything they need to play stereoscopic 3D games. Thanks to a free firmware update released this past April [editors note: which also crippled the system by removing 'Other OS'], the PS3 system is the only console on the market that can support full stereoscopic 3D gaming - right from your living room, and with no additional charge.' Christofer Sundberg over at Avalanche Studios commented recently on 3D gaming in an interview and I think he is right, even if I doubt any game would benefit from 3D. Quote: 'Some games will benefit from it and some will not. The industry needs more better games, stop releasing crappy movie license games and stop trusting new tech stuff and gadgets to save it from coming to a creative halt.

The Lavalit Team have released a new version of Openbor for Consoles,Wii, PSP, Dreamcast, Dingoo, Gp2x and Wiz.
OpenBOR is a continuation of Beats Of Rage originally created by the wonderful
folks over at http://www.senileteam.com
History
----------------------
As fans of the 'Streets of Rage' series that originally appeared on the SEGA
megadrive/genesis, we always wanted to see streets of rage 4. But the waiting
proved futile, and streets of rage 4 never came. That's why we tried to correct
this mistake and fill the void by making the ultimate tribute to Streets of Rage:
Beats of Rage!!
Development
----------------------
Beats of Rage was created by Senile Team. However, the character sprites and
some parts of the backgrounds are taken from 'the King of Fighters' games by
SNK Playmore. Therefore special thanks go out to SNK Playmore and SEGA who
unknowingly helped in creating this game.
Beats of Rage and OpenBOR are a free, fully functional game, which includes
music, and features six playable levels plus a bonus level. It is available
for many systems

Atlus is bringing at least four games to E3 next week. Knights in the Nightmare, the PSP version, is one of them. Sting’s PSP port has a brand new opening movie and analog stick controls. You can see some DS/PSP comparison screenshots here.
Etrian Odyssey III, Trine 2, and Rock of Ages from Zeno Clash developer Ace Team are also be at the show.
Atlus says these are a “few of the titles we’re planning for the next few months” and these are some of the games that will be at E3. We’re meeting with Atlus during the show, so we’ll let you know if there’s anything else and ask them about Growlanser… again, if you really want us to.

CESA, short for Computer Entertainment Supplier’s Association, has been tracking illegal downloads of top selling handheld games. Out of all the titles – DS and PSP – Dissidia: Final Fantasy was downloaded the most.
According to their data, the PSP game was downloaded 5,281,223 times. CESA estimates a loss of 30,631,093,400 yen ($335 million) in sales. The dollar amount is questionable due to used game sales, price drops, and people who would never have purchased Dissidia anyway. In spite of those factors that number is still staggering.
These are some of the other top pirated PSP games developed in Japan.
Phantasy Star Portable 2 –
4,665,510 downloads worth 22,394 million yen ($245 million)
Dynasty Warriors Strikeforce –
2,072,942 downloads worth 9,950 million yen ($109 million)
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite –
1,820,282 downloads worth 8,322 million yen ($91 million)
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII –
1,223,881 downloads worth 7,098 million yen ($77 million)
Mobile Suit Gundam: Gundam vs. Gundam Next Plus –
1,1187,341 downloads worth 7,100 million yen ($77 million)
Tales of the World Radiant Mythology 2 –
1,131,319 downloads worth 5,603 million yen ($61 million)
Not all top selling PSP games were heavily pirated. Konami’s Power Pros Portable 3 is the 12th best selling game and it was only downloaded 4,358 times. SD Gundam G Generation Portable, the 20th title in Japan, also had a comparatively low piracy rate with only 65,112 downloads.
It appears PSP piracy increased greatly when you compare Phantasy Star Portable and Phantasy Star Portable 2. Phantasy Star Portable, released in 2008, only has 665,320 downloads, a fraction of the 4.6 million downloads of the 2009 sequel.
CESA’s figures the top 20 selling games in Japan were downloaded 23,249,418 and cost the industry 118 billion in damages.

Sony has announced launch details for PlayStation 3's early stereoscopic 3D line-up.
As with Japan, 3D versions of WipEout HD, Super Stardust HD and PAIN will be made available tomorrow, 10th June, along with a single-level 3D demo of MotorStorm: Pacific Rift.
The stereoscopic 3D Collection will cost £23.99 / €29.99 new on PlayStation Network, or comes free with any new Sony Bravia 3D TV. Existing owners of the above games can download 3D patches for free.
Obviously you'll need a TV capable of stereoscopic 3D to play any of them.
"PlayStation has always been about outstanding entertainment. The stereoscopic 3D Collection showcases the depth of technology behind PS3 and gives us a feel for the potential for future releases," said Andrew House, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.
"Stereoscopic 3D technology coupled with the likes of PlayStation Move motion controller allows us to create an ever more compelling, realistic and immersive experience.
"Add to that our online capabilities, community interaction features, our film and music services and you've got a very exciting proposition for the future of home entertainment."
Sony released a firmware update for PS3 that introduced 3D support in late April.

Perhaps the PlayStation Network needed to be down in order to add extra dimensions -- whatever the case, Sony just announced that tomorrow will usher in the first quartet of PS3 titles to support stereoscopic 3D. Not too shocking, as it happens to be the same day Japanese gamers get the same deal. Entrees include WipEout HD, Super Stardust HD, Pain, and a demo of MotorStorm: Pacific Rift. Looking to the future, PlayStation Move title The Fight: Lights Out will support 3D at launch. Of course you'll need a 3DTV to join the fun, but hey, looks like Sony's got you covered there, too.

Sony and Zipper Interactive have announced an expansion pack for MAG, due out on 23rd June for €7.99.
The Interdiction pack introduces a new game mode for 128 simultaneous players, where two rival factions attack and try to seize three command posts.
The objective is to capture and hold as many of the command posts as possible. You'll be supported along the way by heavily-armed convoys.
The pack will include three new maps to play the Interdiction mode on - Lake Bayano Spur, Sovot Motorway and Iron Creek Quarry.
The maps are faction-neutral, and each squad will have its own APC (for 16 in total).
Zipper is also including a new "Heavy Improved" armour set and new in-game medals, ribbons and Trophies, which are detailed on the official PlayStation Blog.
The developer also revealed that 1.7 million players have racked up 930,000 battles and over 1.1 billion kills since MAG came out in January.
We can expect more content for MAG to follow, too. "Zipper have big plans for MAG for a while to come yet. Watch this space for more news over the coming weeks and months," European producer Elliott Martin wrote.

For the first time in PS Home, British lads in PS Home can harass (supposed) females from America and other international regions with their chicken dance skills in the new Global Lounge.
The Global Lounge, opening as part of the FevaArena Pitch space which launched last week, is a space for footie fans to mingle and discuss the upcoming World Cup. And stand dead still in the middle of nowhere for no apparent reason.
Owners of the London Pub personal space are in for an added treat this week too - a new mode in the Darts mini game called Killer. The PS Blog says no more, but the update is free so check that out.
And if you're in the mood for a party the Lockwood store has a bunch of new items available, including the Animated Disco Rig, Laser Light Show stand, large Flashing Disco Floor, and Multi-colour Helium Balloons, and Blue Neon Sofa - enough to build your own nightclub, basically.
