Hideo Kojima has said that Zone of the Enders 3 has been "sort of pushed to the back" due to "various things", meaning we probably won't see it for an age.
For reasons that make less sense than the (underrated) final third of Metal Gear Solid 2, Kojima revealed this in a Ustream fan Q&A session from a hotel bathroom in Paris, as reported by Andriasang.
According to the site, producer Kenichiro Imaizumi said that one reason a ZOE sequel won't be happening any time soon is that Kojima's team would need to stop working on another project first.
Check out our Zone of the Enders 2 retrospective if you're 10 years old and have no idea what we're on about.
As for the Taboo thing Kojima mentioned on Twitter a while ago, he said: "The Taboo is a project for high spec machines that I'm hoping to do myself next. It may or may not be a taboo, but for me, I think it will be quite the problematic game."
Kojima was at E3 this week, although it was producer Shigenobu Matsuyama who introduced the world to Metal Gear Solid: Rising, as Kojima wants to distance himself from it now that he has passed on the torch.

June 19th, 2010, 12:07 Posted By: wraggster
Electronic Arts CEO John Riccitiello has suggested that the company may consider charging extra for games that "better support" 3D technology.
Speaking at an executive briefing at E3, as reported by website CVG, Riccitello commented: "3D may well be one of the next and most important drivers for growth. [That's] yet to be seen and I don't think it's a 2010 story in any way, shape or form... in a meaningful way."
In this respect his comment echo those of Microsoft UK boss Neil Thompson, who dismissed 3D as "an interesting technology of the future" but currently too expensive for mass market adoption.
However, Riccitiello went further: "As we move through 2011, 2012, it's likely to be an opportunity both for additional growth and perhaps premium pricing for titles that better support 3D."
EA is the first publisher to suggest that 3D titles should be priced higher than normal releases, but it is unclear how seriously Riccitiello was considering the idea.
The first 3D compatible game from EA will be Crytek's Crysis 2, which was demonstrated at the recently concluded E3 2010 event in Los Angeles.

June 19th, 2010, 12:06 Posted By: wraggster
Hideo Kojima is set to announce a major PS3 exclusive at Tokyo Games Show in September.
That's according to a senior US publishing source close to CVG.
We were told at E3 yesterday that Kojima - who made a star turn at the Los Angeles expo this week - will announce a "massive PS3 exclusive that will own the show" in Tokyo.
Details are thin on the ground, but we understand the title will be published by Konami. The publisher oversees Kojima Productions in Japan.
CVG understands that Kojima was keen to show the game at E3, but decided to polish his demo until September "to ensure it's bulletproof".
Kojima was in London this week to sign copies of his latest opus, Metal Gear Soild: Peace Walker on PSP.
His games - MGS: Rising on 360/PS3 and a MGS: Snake Eater demo on 3DS - were the talk of E3 this week, with early indications suggesting Rising will support Kinect on the Xbox platform.
What would YOU like to see Kojima announce at TGS?

A small announcement from Pac-Man’s 30th anniversary party is a PSP port of Pac-Man Championship Edition. The Xbox Live Arcade game (pictured) is coming to PSP as a PlayStation Network download.
I saw the game at the event and it’s the same morphing maze and glowing graphics Pac-Man game Namco Bandai released in 2007. No release date info or anything else, but the PSP version at the event appears to be near final if not complete.

David Reeves, 14-year veteran of Sony and now chief operating officer of Capcom Europe, has told our sister site GamesIndustry.biz that Sony needs to release a true sequel to the PSP quickly if it expects to compete in the handheld market.
Rival Nintendo has this week revealed the 3DS in detail, wowing the masses at the annual E3 conference with hands-on demonstrations of a 3D console, its software and potential to reinvigorate the handheld market.
"It's an exciting time and you could possibly have two handhelds coming out within months or a year of each other," Reeves told GamesIndustry.biz.
Asked whether he expects a PSP2 to be released in the next 12 months, he said: "I'd like to the think it would be for the publishers and developers and consumers.
"Sony tried to make the transition with PSPgo, I think that changed some consumers' attitudes, but they need to come back with something on PSP pretty quickly to stay in the game because Nintendo are s*** hot at getting these things right. And they always get these things right."
Reeves has always been frank about the PSP platform, and last year admitted there were problems with the system - while he was still at Sony he suggested Capcom was one of the publisher's that could help lift the flagging format.
The PSP2 has not been officially acknowledged by Sony, but reports are suggesting the system will be a "technological monster", with one of the main features of the system a touch-screen interface.
The PSPgo, released only last year, has been a flop at retail, with Sony recently offering new users a massive 10 free games for the download-only machine. As well as issues with the software delivery, the high price also hindered sales.
"It was hard and it was very, very expensive," said Reeves. "Now they're offering 10 games and they have to try and revive it."

Having bossed the karaoke market for the last decade, Sony’s SingStar series is turning its hand to something new – dancing and instruments.
Singstar Dance will allow up to two players to move along to the music using PlayStation Move controllers. Users are required to mimic the actions of the on-screen avatar. Rather than watching the music videos players will instead watch themselves via the video captured by the PlayStation Eye.
SingStar Guitar, on the other hand, will allow those who own either a Guitar Hero or Rock Band instrument to strum along as their friends sing.
“The key thing for us is to give people new features while retaining that classic SingStar look and feel,” SingStar director Dave Ranyard stated. “For me, SingStar is all about family parties and these new features encourage more people to get involved.”
“With SingStar Dance we’re able to augment the PlayStation Move motion controller so that you see sparkles and ribbons flowing from it. We already have the Video Editor and things like this will allow our community to be even more creative.”
“SingStar Guitar songs are quite simply those that are most fun to play on guitar. On some tracks we’ve taken the bass line. With SingStar Dance songs it’s very much about the tempo.
“Slower tracks aren’t so good to dance to, generally speaking, but maybe we’ll find an exception to that rule. In terms of genres we have a broad range, from salsa to country to pop.”
Sony has warned that Dance and Guitar support will not be applied to the entire SingStar catalogue, though both will see post-release DLC releases.
SingStar Dance and SingStar Guitar are due for a Blu-ray boxed release some time later this year.

There are plenty of opinions to be had on 3D, and while many of the staff at Engadget could take it or leave it, this particular writer is a pretty firm fan of the concept. Notice the word "concept." 3D is hard to pull off well. We've all had to come to grips with the dimming effect of most 3D tech, due to the fact that we're only seeing about half the potential brightness of a display, and 3D gaming presents a whole different ream of problems. Follow after the break as we walk through some of our experiences with the PlayStation 3 in 3D and see if it can measure up to our hopes and dreams for a world with one extra dimension.

Presented at publisher Ubisoft’s E3 press conference, Tetsuya Mizuguchi’s Rez-meets-Kinect game may have been one of the best applications of the device. However, it may surprise you to learn that, not only is the game not an Xbox 360 exclusive, it also supports a regular controller.
The confirmation comes via Q Entertainment’s Twitter feed:
And yes, Child of Eden supports Kinect. But it also supports normal controllers, too. So no one will be left out. Available for 360 and PS3.
It makes sense for a revered game designer like Mizuguchi to be multiplatform. On the other hand, however, Child of Eden did look like it would make for an excellent Kinect experience.

David Jaffe, creator of the new PS3 Twisted Metal game, has promised fans that a glitch seen in the on-stage E3 demo this week will not be in the final version of the game.
Audience members were left a little concerned by footage of buildings 'disappering' as Jaffe played the game at Sony's E3 conference earlier this week.
The game was lavishly revealed ahead of the final curtain of Sony's conference - with JAffe himself being driven on-stage in a Twisted MEtal-style van.
Jaffe wrote on Twitter yesterday: "Building destruction disapearing is not last gen tech in our demo FYI...just a bug. We will fix asap, promise!"
We'll have our hands-on impressions of Twisted Metal up on the site very soon.

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe boss Andrew House has told Eurogamer that cross-game chat is not part of PlayStation Plus at the moment.
According to one Sony website, cross-game chat - the ability to talk to friends via headset whatever you're up to, similar to Xbox Live's Party system - was set to be part of the subscription-based PlayStation Plus service, but yesterday a Sony spokesperson told Eurogamer it had not been announced.
House said much the same in our interview with him at E3. "I think that's a separate, side-issue from PlayStation Plus right now," he told us. "I don't think we've talked about that for that reason."
We pushed him about it, but he added: "That's not really something we're talking about at this show."
When we told him that it was the main thing people on the PlayStation Blog and Twitter wanted to know about, he countered: "And we'll be able to tell them." But not right now? "No."
PlayStation Plus launches worldwide on 29th June and Sony believes an annual subscription offers £200 of value for £39.99, while a 90-day sub costs £11.99.
According to House, we can expect "Free game downloads, one PSN title, two Minis and one PSone classic every month; free premium avatars; dynamic themes; full-game trials, which was one of the things consumers told us they wanted most..." And meanwhile all the other stuff you can do already remains free.

Remember that rumor a couple years back of PS3 motion control gaming being based around a pull-apart DualShock 3? Well, perhaps it wasn't such a wild idea after all. No DualShock 3s have been harmed in the making of Move, but Joystiq has just confirmed that you can actually use the existing controller for Move gaming instead of springing for the Navigation Controller if you'd like. Obviously, you'll be one-handing the DualShock, not quite as comfortable as the Move's tiny, dedicated quasi-nunchuck, but it saves you $30 for your hassle. You'll only have access to the d-pad or four face buttons, depending on which side you choose, but interestingly, the Nav Controller's X and O buttons are redundant with the full Move wand, so hopefully this won't impact gameplay too greatly.

June 17th, 2010, 20:31 Posted By: wraggster
Sony Computer Entertainment is setting the bar very high in terms of sales expectations for PlayStation Move, which will be released in September in the US and Europe, and October in Japan.
According to SCEE president Andrew House, the company is looking on the launch more as it would for a new platform, rather than just a new peripheral.
"I've been asked, is Move a peripheral or is it a platform? And I think it's somewhere in-between," he told GamesIndustry.biz at this year's E3 Expo in LA. "In terms of the level of new units we'll ship it's closer to a new platform than just the peripherals business.
"We're looking for very, very substantial numbers," he continued. "We've been deliberately very competitive and aggressive about the pricing that we've set against it. The impression I got from E3 is that it was well received as an easy point of entry so we expect the numbers to be very substantial.
The price points were revealed in the platform holder's press conference on Tuesday, putting it at £39.99 / €39.99 / $49.99 / ¥3980 in the various territories. Europe will be first to see Move when it's released in the region on September 15, with the US following on September 19 and Japan on October 21.
Meanwhile, Microsoft - which renamed its motion system from Natal to Kinect - has noted a November launch, but won't unveil its pricing structure until gamescom in August.
But while House is expectant on big sales for Move, he was reluctant to indicate whether he thought it would spur sales of PlayStation 3 hardware.
"It's difficult to say because we haven't launched it yet and it's a little bit too early to predict," he said.
"What I do think is important is that I hope we demonstrated there is a gathering sense of momentum around PlayStation Move - the ease with which it can be implemented in games, the sheer variety of experiences that it can enhance and improve and the fact that uniquely among the motion control offerings it is uniquely at home with conventional games and genres as it is with social and more casual gaming experiences. And that is a key winning point as far as I can see."

Valve says Portal 2 is "way worse" than Half-Life 2 in terms of giving away spoilers.
Speaking to our E3 minion in Los Angeles, Valve boss Gabe Newell said the problem with showing off Portal at the trade show is that once you know the solution to a puzzle you can just run straight through the final game.
"One of the challenges of showing this game here is that it's difficult to give people an idea of what kind of game it is," he said. "The level of spoiling with this game is so hard - way worse than Half-Life 2."
He added that for that reason, "we probably won't have a demo."
Valve revealed at Sony's E3 press conference earlier this week that Portal 2 will be coming to PS3 along with its Steamworks development suite.

Brink will not be released until 2011.
VG247 reports that a Bethesda PR claimed the sc-fi shooter has been pushed back from its original autumn 2010 release window – a date given after an earlier delay. No reason was given for this setback,
The game is being developed by Splash Damage for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. It takes place in a dystopian future where the Earth has flooded and the remnants of humanity live on floating cities.

News via http://www.psp-ita.com/?module=news&...2&view_reply=1
After a period of (almost) calm scene on the PSP this time we return to talk about possible exploits kernelThe attention of the coder, as usual, is made to the holders of the Go with PSP firmware 6.20, but does not exclude the possibility that this hypothetical exploit is exploitable even on the latest system software. The most encouraging news this time comes from the known Lan.st forum, where recently some Coyotebean confirmed to be in possession of a so-called kernel key is for fw 6.20 to 5.70 for both operating on the Go, but not only ... it seems that in recent times different teams have access to this exploit, and that some are already working on something more practical (read: HEN / custom firmware).
Before claiming victory, as we are now accustomed to, but we must remember that very often these "discoveries" are maintained secret convidise or are only a small group of coders, given the high probability that its bugs are quickly corrected in later releases by Sony, for this reason, if the rumors prove unfounded, we should wait some time before you touch the results.
Following are the words of Wololo, who expressed his opinion on this matter.
Quote:
Quote:
There is an implicit agreement among local hackers That These exploits SHOULD NOT be disclosed, Because kernel exploits Have Become Extremely Rare Since firmware 6.00 (it is believed a major cleanup of Sony's code Happened at That Time to protect the psp go), I know it is quite Likely That These Are Actually one single kernel exploits exploits (I know Revealing Would it ruin the Efforts of That other teams try to keep it secret). Also, Depending on the hackers, kernel exploits are kept secret for personal and / or ethical reasons.

the hypnotic charms of Pac-Man: Championship Edition are being packed into a downloadable Mini for PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 3. According to a Namco representative, the Mini should become available sometime this fall. Barring a delay, it would arrive alongside the new game in the series, Pac-Man: Championship Edition DX, which is slated for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.
We got a chance to play the PSP game at a Pac-Man 30th Anniversary event in Los Angeles and found it to be identical to the XBLA version, right down to the in-game trophies. The d-pad certainly gives this handheld version the edge, and the colorful visuals look great on the PSP's screen. It should be a perfect distraction during your dull train commute, provided you don't mind missing your stop. And the next one. And the next one. And just one more.

Square Enix has announced a new "online action shooter" called Mindjack from Japanese developer feelplus.
Mindjack is due out this October for PS3 and Xbox 360.
It's set in 2031, where corporate power has usurped democracy and technology is beginning to control everyday life.
As you might imagine from the name, players will be able to hack into the brains of enemies, vehicles and civilians to take control of them and do some fighting in cover-based shooter environments.
You'll upgrade your abilities as you go and use real fighting techniques like the increasingly popular Krav Maga (last seen in Splinter Cell: Conviction).
