Sony has released a new version of the Digital Comics Reader for PSP, adding a host new features and improvements to the app.
It looks better, has more options in menus to manage and use your content, and supports a wider range of audio formats, among other additions.
A full list of changes is below, along with instructions on how to upgrade:
Collection browsing
* If you're running out of free space, you can now delete comics from your collection. Simply browse to the item details and press the [square] button. You can also delete single items or a series from the carousel (don't worry - you can freely re-download items that you delete as many times as you want!)
* You can now choose to browse any titles in your collection by publisher
* Your comics are now automatically categorised in multiple genres. All titles in your collection, old or new, will benefit from this change. Sadly, we don't yet have a "Zombie" genre.
* The database system has been overhauled and is now much faster to update and access.
Reading
* Support has been added for media formatted to be read right-to-left (Manga, for example). AutoFlow controls are reversed when reading in this mode.
* Can't wait to find out what happens next? If you have multiple issues of a series, the Reader will offer to move on to the next issue when you reach the end of your current issue.
Music & Sound
* The MP3 Player has been renamed as the Music Player, and now supports music in MP4 and AAC format. MP3 support has also been improved.
* Any comics with a soundtrack or audio commentary (found in the Extras tab in the comic summary screen) now indicate the progress of lengthy audio clips. Audio clips are no longer interrupted by turning the page or by AutoFlowing backwards.
* The PSP Remote Control is now supported. With a music track active, you can use the Remote Control to pause/unpause, and to trigger the previous or next track in the current playlist.
Cosmetic updates have been made, to keep the Digital Reader slick and smooth.
How do I upgrade to the new version?
1. If you don't have the Digital Comics Reader application on your PSP yet, follow these instructions.
2. If you are already using the Reader, check which version of you are currently using. To do this, navigate to the Digital Comics icon on your XMB (under "Extras") and hit the Triangle button. Select "version information" from the available options. If you see 1.01, you need to upgrade!
3. Hit "Yes" to launch the browser (you'll need to have wi-fi connection) and follow the on-screen instructions to download version 2.01 of the Reader.
If you don't have Wi-Fi, hit the source link below for more info.

Squad up for the Onslaught today -- if you're playing on a PS3. Battlefield: Bad Company 2's cooperative Onslaught mode has been "delayed" for Xbox Live, an EA representative has confirmed to Joystiq. The DLC will be available for $10 on PSN as soon as the weekly update occurs later today. We'll make sure to update if we receive any intel on a new date for the Xbox version -- or any date for the PC version, for that matter.
President Hamilton would like you to check out our hands-on before exchanging him for this new mode.

"Almost all Worldwide Studios developers are researching how they can incorporate stereoscopic 3D technology into their games," claims network president Shuhei Yoshida.
Speaking to the official PlayStation website, Yoshida indicated that the response from all developers had "been great," but admitted that adding 3D technology to existing titles "is much more difficult to do as the game engine has already been developed and in most cases the development team has moved on to new titles."
SCE (Sony Computer Entertainment) Worldwide Studios includes a number of first party developers from around the world. Yoshida took over as head of the network in 2008, replacing interim president Kazuo Hirari following the departure of original boss Phil Harrison.
Developers include Bigbig Studios (Pursuit Force), Evolution Studios (MotorStorm), Media Molecule (LittleBigPlanet), SCE Cambridge Studio (MediEvil), SCE Liverpool Studio (wipEout) and SCE London Studio (SingStar) in the UK - as well as Killzone creators Guerrilla Games in The Netherlands.
In Japan the studios include Polyphony Digital (Gran Turismo), Clap Hanz (Everybody's Golf/Hot Shots Golf) and the expansive SCE Japan Studio, including Team ICO.
Finally, the US studios include Naughty Dog (Uncharted), Sony Bend (Syphon Filter), support developer SCE Foster City Studio, SCE San Diego Studio (MLB: The Show), SCE Santa Monica Studio (God of War) and Zipper Interactive (SOCOM).
Yoshida also indicated that the developer response to PlayStation Move had been very positive, suggesting that "they are happy and amazed at how well PlayStation Move works and how easy it is to incorporate the technology into already fully developed game engines."

Patapon 3 introduces a new kind of Patapon, a superhero Patapon, which represents you. At the beginning of the game, you can pick one of three weapons – a spear, bow or sword.
I went with the spear. After picking a weapon, the legendary Patapon hero sprung back to life controlling the drums. The E3 demo had two of them, Pata (square) and Pon (circle). Just like the previous Patapon games, the superhero uses these to make a beat, which commands units to march or attack.
The part I played was very much like Patapon and Patapon 2, but Patapon 3 has new features. Sony, following the ad-hoc crazy popularized by Monster Hunter Freedom, expanded the multiplayer mode to support eight players. You can duke it out in four-on-four battles our team up for multiplayer quests. Sony even created Pata-text so networked players can chat with each other.
Monster Hunter style co-op mixed with Patapon is coming to North American PSPs this fall.

Perhaps while preparing for the launch of Gran Turismo 5, Sony thought about re-releasing MotorToon Grand Prix on PlayStation Network. Before Polyphony Digital became famous for realistic driving games, they made a colorful cartoon racer. Two actually, but only one came overseas.
And it looks like another generation of gamers will get to experience on of Polyphony Digital’s earlier games. MotorToon Grand Prix was just rated by the ESRB for PSP and PlayStation 3, a good sign that it’s on deck for the PlayStation Network’s PlayStation Classics collection.
Crash Team Racing is also on the list, just in case you needed a kart racer or prefer marsupials over anthropomorphic cars.

[Raizer04] just completed his PlayStation 2 portable build. He feels that the PS2 hardware has much more to offer than the PSP and that’s why he chose to cram the PS2 slim hardware into a portable case. He started with an electronic toy to serve as a case donor and used bondo to form openings for the controller, speakers, lights, and screen. A beautiful paint job and some metal work resulted in the pleasant finish seen above. On the back you’ll find a lighted case fan, hard drive, and USB port. There’s no optical drive as games are loaded from a thumb drive. Take a look at the demo video after the break, but do yourself a favor and turn your sound all the way down first.

THQ has revealed that Tomonobu Itagaki's Devil's Third won't be hitting shelves until calendar year 2012.
The news came in the E3 investor's call we picked up last week - where the publisher also outed Darksiders 2 (also coming 2012) and discussed Gears Of War challenger Space Marine.
Devil's Third is a third-person action title for Xbox 360 and PS3. Itagaki said his heart was "pounding with anticipation" to announce the game.
The game has been developed by the new studio of the Ninja Gaiden creator, Valhalla Knights.

Gioteck reveals the HF-1 PS3™ GamePad primarily designed for First Person Shooters
Gioteck has revealed its flagship product, the Bluetooth® HF-1, a PS3™ controller, designed specifically for the hardened FPS gamer.
The HF-1 Gamepad has been reviewed and tested by numerous focus groups for comfort and above all longevity (anything less than 4 hours game-play a night is ‘part time’ says Gioteck’s Creative Director Andy Green).
The shapes and curves of the HF-1 have formed around their function – consideration has been given to ‘What the best shape is to fit in the palm?’ ‘How does the index finger utilize the bumpers and triggers?’ ‘What’s needed to accommodate the rotation of the thumb joints?’ and even down to details such as ‘Where do the redundant fingers rest?’ All these factors dictated the final shape and design of this Bluetooth® Beauty.
Top of the wish list was juxtaposed thumbsticks a la Xbox 360™ style. Gioteck wanted to make sure they used the best Japanese Alps potentiometers for their sticks, as precision and build quality was paramount for this product. Potentiometer based triggers were added, together with a ‘Flipswitch’ which simply swaps the R1 and R2 functionality, putting the triggers where they belong… On the bottom.
User programmable Turbo was a must for the pistoleros out there, simple hold down the turbo button and the desired action button or trigger, or both for that matter, release, and voila… Turbo on the actions you choose.
Together with a ‘Specials Ops’ black camo fascia and an optional rechargeable battery pack, the HF-1 will be in stores in pre-Christmas!
Gioteck Release the MX-1 Micro Media Remote in the US
Super slick, uber slim, intelligent design in one tiny package.
Control your PS3™ Blu-Ray™, DVD Movies & Cross Media Bar with the roll of a thumb! Every function thoughtfully positioned onto dual rings offering simply what the user needs! No clutter, no superfluous functionality purely intelligent design. With a length of only 4 inches and a depth of just over a quarter of an inch, it takes pride of place in any modern day living space.
Its instinctive control system is designed around the rotation of the thumb, Play, Pause, Fast Forward, Chapter Skip etc are right where you would expect them to be. With short and long press options, only two rings and a center button are required to access all the functionality of the remote.
This is an ideal companion to Gioteck’s upcoming In2Link module system as the In2link hub utilizes a built-in widescreen infra red receiver, eliminating the need for extra IR dongles.
Gioteck broadens their Bluetooth® gaming headset range with the EX-02
Building on the success of the best-selling EX-01 Bluetooth® headset, exclusively designed for gamers and gaming, Gioteck now announces a deluxe addition to their headset range, which focuses on long-term game play rather than opting for a ‘catch all’ mobile phone style product.
The EX-02 retains everything that makes the EX-01 great: the amazingly comfortable earpiece created to allow for maximum game time, reversible ear hooks, and instinctive ergonomic controls; while the new state-of-the-art next gen chipset, with built in noise cancelling, gives optimum voice clarity and reduces power consumption so much that the EX-02 can provide over 8 hours gaming time on a single charge.
On the outside, the EX-02 features a sleek new style, customizable with interchangeable
faceplates, starting with a range of cool camouflage designs, and recharging comes courtesy of a slick, magnetic snap charger.
The EX-02 Next Gen headset for PS3™ - designed exclusively for gamers and gaming.

David Jaffe has explained how he lied about the existence of a PS3 Twisted Metal game in order to preserve "an actual genuine E3 surprise".
"Sony called about four months ago and said, 'Let's make Twisted a surprise and let's close the show with it.' I was like, 'Hell yeah! Let's do that.' But it kind of necessitated being kind of sneaky about it. To me giving fans an actual genuine E3 surprise was more valuable to me than sort of being totally honest when people ask me questions," the Eat Sleep Play boss told Joystiq.
"And people say to me, 'Well, you could have said no comment.' I'm like, 'No comment is the same as saying... it's what people say when they don't want to answer you.' The other issue too is, I got to be honest with you, I've had such s*** taken out of context with the press."
"I don't have animosity with the press," he added, "it's more like, 'You know what, guys? I don't owe you s***. I owe the gamers s***. I owe them entertainment.' And to me whether it's my blog or whether it's our games that we make or whether it's working with Sony to have a great press conference, you know, we're slaves to the gamers." David Jaffe did unveil Twisted Metal at E3. The game will be exclusive to PS3 and be released next year. Among the features are 16-player online battles and split-screen for two-to-four people.

DeathSpank, Monkey Island co-creator Ron Gilbert's homage to Diablo, has been fully loaded with laughs and is ready to make its debut on PSN July 13, arriving on Xbox Live Arcade the next day, July 14 (barring any temporal anomalies). We played the game a couple months back and were smitten with its charm, humor, loot and bacon.
What we didn't see back then was DeathSpank's cooperative mode. Since there can only be one DeathSpank (we don't think the world could handle two of him) player two will control his spell-casting sidekick, Sparkles the Wizard. We're sure Sparkles is just fine with his silly name, so long as he gets to tag along with the Hero to the Downtrodden.
DeathSpank will loot your wallet for $14.99 on PSN and 1200 Microsoft Points ($15) via the Xbox Live Marketplace.

So here is the result of the simple idea. The first code which is 100% PS3 only compatible. No flash, no bd-java or similar. The actual exploit is not finished. This is just the loader you will need and a proof of concept of the methode used to load it.
This is a beta version of the POC as I'm too tired to finish it now but I don't wanna' let you wait so long. Here you go:
DOWNLOAD via Comments
How 2 Use:
1. Install loader.p3t like a common theme file.
2. Put loadme.fu on an USB stick's root dir.
3. Insert USB device into any PS3 USB port.
4. Enable the theme you just installed before.
5. Hello World.
How It Works:
The PS3 theme file is able to load the loadme.fu script from any USB port. The script is executed. The "loader" is for future-use aswell to load any .fu files which I'll release.
Stay tuned for updates!

Sony's Dr Richard Marks has claimed that the company evaluated technology similar to Microsoft's Kinect controller, but rejected it because of concerns over versatility and latency.
In an interview with sister website Eurogamer.net's Digital Foundry, Marks claimed that Sony evaluated many different types of "z-camera" systems following the development of the PlayStation 2's EyeToy.
"There are some experiences that it can do that are really neat," said Marks in reference to camera-only motion sensors. "But there just weren't enough experiences that made it make enough sense as a platform-level controller".
"Coming back is that sometimes we need buttons to have certain kinds of experiences," he added. "Other times we need more precision than we can get out of those cameras. We need to know exactly what you're doing with your hands, especially in the more hardcore experiences," he added.
"The tactile feedback of knowing you're making a click is such an important thing. When you make these gross movements you know that you're doing them. When you're doing subtle things it's difficult to know that the system 'knew' what you meant, or accepted your input," argued Marks.
Rumours earlier in the year suggested that Nintendo also evaluated similar camera technology to Kinect in 2007, a year after the release of the Wii.
According to still unconfirmed reports Nintendo CEO and president Satoru Iwata turned down a pitch for the same technology that eventually became Kinect, primarily over price and latency concerns.

The Lavalit Team have released a new version of Openbor for Consoles,Wii, PSP, Dreamcast, Dingoo, Gp2x and Wiz.
OpenBOR is a continuation of Beats Of Rage originally created by the wonderful
folks over at http://www.senileteam.com
History
----------------------
As fans of the 'Streets of Rage' series that originally appeared on the SEGA
megadrive/genesis, we always wanted to see streets of rage 4. But the waiting
proved futile, and streets of rage 4 never came. That's why we tried to correct
this mistake and fill the void by making the ultimate tribute to Streets of Rage:
Beats of Rage!!
Development
----------------------
Beats of Rage was created by Senile Team. However, the character sprites and
some parts of the backgrounds are taken from 'the King of Fighters' games by
SNK Playmore. Therefore special thanks go out to SNK Playmore and SEGA who
unknowingly helped in creating this game.
Beats of Rage and OpenBOR are a free, fully functional game, which includes
music, and features six playable levels plus a bonus level. It is available
for many systems

After much two-an-throwing, it has finally been confirmed that Gran Turismo 5 WILL have a track editor.
SCE's president of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida says the game will let users create and share their course creations online. Not stopping there, he also confirmed go-kart racing, weather and stunt arenas. Woo!
"Gran Turismo 5 will offer gamers an experience more rich, more in-depth and more exciting than they might expect - even from a series as closely identified with innovation and invention as Gran Turismo," promised Yoshida.
"Not only will Gran Turismo 5 deliver an even more comprehensive set of cars and courses than gamers saw with previous iterations, it will also feature new game-enhacing graphical effects such as damage, night racing and weather.
"These innovations are twinned with the option to join millions of like-minded individuals globally within the Gran Turismo community and to find a driving experience to suit, whether that is taking on the Top Gear test track, chucking cars around stunt arenas, go-karting, creating and sharing your own track or intense head-to-head races."
And if that didn't have you pumped for GT5, he adds: "This time around Gran Turismo is likely not just to be the definitive driving experience but a definitive gaming experience full stop."
Sony FINALLY set a launch date of November 2. We'd bet our balls on this being amazing.

Square will work on supporting the PlayStation Move controller in the PS3 version of Final Fantasy XIV Online if it "gets the chance to do so", says the firm's senior vice president of software development Hiromichi Tanaka.
"Unfortunately, we haven't had chance to try it out yet but we've heard very interesting things about it and we'd like to look at supporting it in Final Fantasy XIV, if we get the chance to do so," he told the EU PS Blog during an E3 interview last week.
He goes on to warn that it's by no means a certainty at this point: "However, at the moment I would say that there are no current plans."
Rather interestingly, Tanaka also expressed Square's belief that console versions of MMOs should be identical to their PC counterparts, as re-working them dilutes the experience.
How would you want to see Move support work with the MMO? Give them some ideas...

THQ is planning to release a version of Homefront that takes place in London following the arrival of the main game early year, CVG can reveal.
Homefront is being billed as "violence with consequence" by the publisher - and takes place in 2027, where a Resistance movement led by North Korea has invaded the US.
We had a quick glimpse at the title at E3, and it's looking stunning. If you're into FPS but getting a little jaded by Modern Warfare et al, it's very likely to be up your street.
The story of the title has been created by John Milius, who co-wrote war movie classic Apocalypse Now.
"What we're telling the story of is civilians fighting for their homes," THQ core games boss Danny Bilson told CVG.
"We've created this massive world of 2027. And it's global. We haven't got there yet but you're going to see Homefront: London later on in the franchise. This is not just a game in the US."
The title is set to be released on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in 2011. It has been developed by THQ-owned developer Kaos Studios.

We know Little Big Planet 2 will use the Move motion controller when it releases, which sounds perfect for potentially streamlining the level creation process. But speaking to Joystiq, Media Molecule co-founder Alex Evans said they'll also release a patch post-launch that'll let players implement Move controls into their levels as well, similar to what was capable with the Sixaxis in the first LBP.
"For us, I think the Direct Control Seat is the obvious answer to how to use Move," Evans said. "So, right now, players can use the Direct Control Seat to decide how the Sixaxis affects your level, and we'd like to do the same thing for the Move. We have something like that internally, but it's not fully built. We're working with another studio to help us prototype out what Move could be, and those levels will be on the disc at launch, to show players what they'll be able to build."
Evans said they'll then release the patch at some point after the game launches to let players create their own Move levels. "The community can choose the mapping, like, I really look forward to, are they going to build cursor-based games, are they going to build gesture-based games? They have the choice eventually, and that's our high bar with Move. We didn't want to set a low bar with it, and tack it on the side. We wanted it to be a fully fledged citizen like the Sixaxis."
Evans didn't say how soon after LBP2's release they plan to issue the patch, but hopefully it won't be too long. LBP2 hits shelves this November.

Sony might be banging the 3D drum now, but Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed that Gran Turismo 5 supported 3D two years ago.
"The 3D feature was almost complete two years ago, actually," Yamauchi told the US PlayStation blog. "We could see that it was in that natural flow of technology and where things were heading."
"Discussions with Sony regarding 3D technology began more than three years ago. More recently we have spoken with Evolution Studios, who have put a lot of work into stereoscopic 3D, about things like video formats.
"Because Gran Turismo 5 is built to run at 60 frames per second," he added, "it was easy for us to implement 3D. It's quite difficult to convert a game that runs at 30 frames per second to 3D.”
3D was reported to be one of the features causing the delay to Gran Turismo 5's public release; PlayStation Move was the other. Sony, however, has maintained that Polyphony's perfectionism was the reason the game missed its March 2010 Japan release.
Gran Turismo 5 now finally has a solid 2nd November release date for North America.
