There's yet another Yakuza game in the works, series director Toshihiro Nagoshi has confirmed.
According to Japanese mag Famitsu (translated by Andriasang), the new game has been in development alongside PSP title Black Panther Yakuza Chapter, and will be released on the PS3.
It looks like the fifth main Yakuza game, although Nagoshi refused to officially name it.
He did, apparently, promise it'll "do honour" to the Yakuza name, which is apt, really.
All we know is that we'll get a closer look at popular Yakuza character Majima Goro, who will be playable. Nagoshi also mentioned the word "destruction", which sounds like fun.
"We want to show evidence of 'there are still these possibilities for the Yakuza series'," said Nagoshi. "We won't be throwing out the past methods of enjoyment, but we will be taking a scalpel to the fundamentals of the game systems."
This game may or may not be the Yakuza title teased at a Japanese Yakuza 4 event that took place earlier this year.
Yakuza 3 only arrived on these shores in March. Yakuza 4 will be released for PS3 here in spring 2011. Eurogamer reviewed the openworld crime game on import in April.
More details are expected at this year's Tokyo Game Show.

Tuesday's PSP firmware update appears to have paved the way for downloadable NeoGeo and PCEngine/TurboGrafx-16 games.
Folders for both formats were added to the XMB menu, according to Tom's Guide. There they'll sit with folders for established content such as Minis and PSN games.
NeoGeo and PCEngine/TurboGrafx-16 games are already offered to PSP owners in Japan, and their journey West was spotted on US ratings website the ESRB recently.
We're following this up with Sony.

In a bold move, developer Level-5 will force players to complete White Knite Chronicles 1 before they can gain access to the sequel.
According to Japanese site 4Gamer (translated by Andriasang), the second game will only allow you to play the new quest if you have a 'Clear Data' saved from finishing the first game.
Series director Toshiyuki Kusuda confirmed in a recent interview that, without that file, the sequel will force you 'start from the beginning', which basically means play the first game.
The redeeming factor is the inclusion of an enhanced version of White Knight 1 on the same disc as the sequel, with the newer gameplay retrofitted in there, and Kusuda reckons that even those that have already played the original will enjoy playing through it again in its boosted form.
The two versions of White Knight 1 are, however, not compatible online. In case were wondering.
Events in the sequel are set a year after those in the first, and it's out on PS3 in Japan in July. No western release yet.

Square Enix has announced that the PC Collector’s Edition version of MMO Final Fantasy XIV will be released in Europe on September 22nd. The standard SKU will hit retail on September 30th.
The PS3 version of the game will not be released until March 2011, with pricing to be announced at a later date.
The PC Collector’s Edition includes a behind-the-scenes DVD, a special branded security token, a FFXIV branded tumbler, map, a travel journal including concept art, the Onion Helm in-game item, a 30-day free trial period for the game and a pass that allows a guest to play for free for a limited time.
The monthly subscription fee will be £8.99 (€12.99) with additional characters available for £2.10 (€3.00) a month. A maximum of eight characters can be registered on any one account.
Each account is eligible for one free retainer (a non-playable character that maintains item sales and storage when users are logged out) with each additional retainer costing £0.70 (€1.00).
A beta version of the PC game will go live some time in early July. It will become available to pre-order with key retailers at some point today. Those who pre-order will receive another in-game freebie – a pair of Garlond Goggles that increases the speed at which characters progress.
Those who register their FFXIII Campaign Codes will receive the Asuran Armguards DLC, an extra that improves the effectiveness of tools.
“This September, players around the world will join together to explore the fascinating and exciting realm of Eorzea,” the game’s executive producer Hiromichi Tanaka stated.
“We’re presenting players with a new style of online gameplay, that we know will please avid fans of online games, but welcome more casual gamers as well with the variety of gameplay and story-driven content.”
The specs for the PC version are as follows: Windows XP/Vista/7, Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz or AMD Athlon X2 2GHz, 2GB of RAM, 15GB HDD space, NVIDIA GeForce 9600 512MB or ATI Radeon HD 2900 512MB and DirectX 9.

June 30th, 2010, 17:17 Posted By: wraggster
US-only video on demand company Hulu has confirmed that its services will be appearing on both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, following months of speculation on both formats.
Sony's console will be the first to debut the service, with rumours last week of a $9.99 subscription service being borne out.
The new Hulu Plus service will launch as early as next month, with more content available than on the free browser-based website. A maximum resolution display of 720p will be supported, compared to just 480p on the website.
The option to watch entire seasons of television shows, ranging from Family Guy to Glee and The Office to House, will also be offered for the first time, with the entire run of some older shows now being supported.
No additional information is currently available for the PlayStation 3 launch, although website Kotaku suggests that access to Hulu Plus may also require users to join the new PlayStation Plus subscription service.
Hulu is currently focusing on the launch of Hulu Plus on the iPhone and iPad. The service will also be available on Internet-enable televisions and Blu-ray players from Samsung, Sony and Vizio.
No mention of support for the Xbox 360 has been made by Hulu themselves, but Xbox Live director of programming Larry Hryb (aka Major Nelson) has indicated that Hulu Plus will be available in "early 2011". Hryb also promised that "it will not be a port, but rather a custom experience that leverages the Xbox Live community features".
Currently revenues for the web-based service come solely through advertising, with Hulu Plus marking a major change in business plan for the company - although it will still feature some advertising content.
Hulu is unavailable outside of the US and attempts to create a similar service in the UK have so far been frustrated by a lack of licensing deals.
"Hulu Plus is not a replacement for Hulu.com. Hulu Plus is a new, revolutionary ad-supported subscription product that is incremental and complementary to the existing Hulu service", said CEO Jason Kilar on the Hulu blog.
"Is our work done? Not even close. There are more shows to license, more countries to expand into, and more product features to build. And we will," he added.

June 30th, 2010, 17:06 Posted By: wraggster
Saints Row 3 will differentiate from the GTA series "even further", THQ's Danny Bilson has revealed.
The third game in the open-world series will be "less urban" and "definitely not about 'gangsta'", the core games VP told CVG at E3.
"We don't compete with GTA. We're differentiating even further with GTA with this one," Bilson said. "The new Saint's Row will be less urban - it's definitely not about 'gangsta' anymore at all. And it's more fun and almost sillier and wackier and weirder than the other one."
He digressed: "I love GTA - especially the last one, which knocked my socks off. That's almost like a Martin Scorsese cartoon, right? We are more like the Mad Magazine version of that or something. It's colourful, it's wild, it's fun.
"The only thing it has in common with GTA is open world, tonnes of options for the player and a certain amount of crime. But even in the new game, it's not exactly like that either. There are new gangs in a new world and it's not just about criminals."
Speaking at E3 this month , Bilson revealed "the most robust transmedia play on any game ever done," including plans to release a Saints Row movie.
The exec said the reason the third game skipped the Los Angeles show was in order to spend another year "rebuilding the technology."

News/release from mootjeuh
Hey guys, back with a new homebrew
now, just before you start reading, even though the title says beta, there are absolutely no bugs, so if something goes wrong, its your fault
Okay, and now to explain the title, ASLI stands for A Simple Lua (script) Interpreter, this little homebrew is one-of-a-kind, its general purpose, is to give a pspsdk in lua, so no pre-made functions like HM, PGE, and LPE offer.
Its currently not the best interpreter to choose if you want to make a shell with it, i made it so its faster than any other one (yes, even lpe), and uses SDL as rendering engine. (so this is for making games)
Its still far from being complete but i'm releasing this now because I'm going on vacation tomorrow and won't be working on it for weeks, so....
I've ported most of the SDL functions; SDL, SDL_image, SDL_ttf, SDL_mixer, SDL_video (except for YUV rendering), SDL_keyboard, SDL_joystick and SDL_timer. And all of those work perfectly.
I ported the functions memalign and malloc from malloc.h because they're extremely useful, at least for me. And for the pspsdk, I didn't do much, only the necessary for making an awesome game: pspctrl, pspdebug and pspdebugkb.
And I went over to LuaForge and grabbed some implementations of useful libraries: zlib and lua BitOP (for bitwise operations in Lua)
So, still no GU or pspiofilemgr, but I promise, I'll add them as soon as I can.
If you've got suggestions for new functions post here, and I'll what I can do.
And please, take a look at LuaForge, there are some pretty awesome Lua libraries.
Awesome examples are included
And one last thing, enjoy!

The Lavalit Team have released a new build of Openbor for the Dreamcast, Dingoo, PSP, Gp2x, Wii and Wiz.
OpenBOR is a continuation of Beats Of Rage originally created by the wonderful
folks over at http://www.senileteam.com
History
----------------------
As fans of the 'Streets of Rage' series that originally appeared on the SEGA
megadrive/genesis, we always wanted to see streets of rage 4. But the waiting
proved futile, and streets of rage 4 never came. That's why we tried to correct
this mistake and fill the void by making the ultimate tribute to Streets of Rage:
Beats of Rage!!
Development
----------------------
Beats of Rage was created by Senile Team. However, the character sprites and
some parts of the backgrounds are taken from 'the King of Fighters' games by
SNK Playmore. Therefore special thanks go out to SNK Playmore and SEGA who
unknowingly helped in creating this game.
Beats of Rage and OpenBOR are a free, fully functional game, which includes
music, and features six playable levels plus a bonus level. It is available
for many systems

Firmware version 6.3 is out and as Fist Full of Potions points out, something's rotten in Denmark -- or very sweet, depending on how you feel about Japanese consoles of yesteryear. The update allows you to "group content" by putting your games into specific folders corresponding to platform, but also curiously adds empty folders for the NeoGeo and PC Engine -- otherwise known as the TurboGrafx-16.
This update could be the precursor to an announcement for the PC Engine Archives extending their reach beyond Japan or it could simply be an overlooked byproduct of the update. Either way, we've contacted Sony for comment and will let you know what we find out.

It seems 3.40 firmware update added more than PlayStation Plus to the PS3. It appears support for the Move motion controller has also been added to the system, as evidenced by a new option in the "Settings" area of the XMB. This setting (pictured) will allow you to calibrate the motion controller, if the controller doesn't move "as expected."
The Move controller isn't scheduled to launch until later this year. However, this isn't the first time Sony has prepped future-tech in earlier firmware releases. For example, firmware 3.30 added support for 3D games about two months before the first 3D games were released. Barring any further changes to the PS3 OS, you may be able to play Move games sans system update when the controller launches.

PlayStation 3 software update 3.40 comes with a truckload of new features like PlayStation Plus, online photo sharing, and the ability to rate PlayStation Network content.
Any purchased content can be awarded one to five stars, so prospective buyers know how great (or not) the game you just bought is.
System update 3.40 is live and it also comes with a fix for the 8001050F clock bug.

Sony's new premium subscription service PlayStation Plus has been released for PlayStation 3.
This feature arrives with firmware version 3.4. In addition, this adds network photo sharing, video editing and uploading, star ratings for Store content, more power saving options and better Facebook connectivity.
Sony has also taken this opportunity to roll out firmware 6.3 for PSP, ensuring PlayStation Plus works across both platforms.
Like Xbox Live, PlayStation Plus costs £39.99 annually - or £11.99 for 90 days. Unlike Xbox Live, Sony's keen to offer lots of free stuff above and beyond demos.
From today, LittleBigPlanet will be free to all who sign-on to PlayStation Plus. Sony's also giving away WipEout HD, Minis Field Runners and Age of Zombies, and PSone game Destruction Derby. All that and a lot more.
