PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap, the sequel to the quirky top-down PSN-exclusive racer, will be released on PSN on July 1.
That's according to Andriasang, who says confirmation came directly from developer Q-Games, although it doesn't appear to have made a wider announcement.
PJ Racers 2nd Lap takes on the same arcade flavour of the first but adds a host of new features such as Trophy support, ghost attack (downloadable player ghosts from the leaderboards), more party modes and an easier single player tournament.
According to Andriasang the game will be priced at 500 in Japan (around £3.70). We expect official confirmation from Q-Games or Sony soon.

News/release from AtomicDryad
ACHTUNG! WARNING! DISCLAIMER! Before you use this, be sure to know how to use RECOVERY MODE to disable the plugin, if you put in a bad replacement.
This is cxmb with matchung's changes for 5.50gen functionality, plus the ability to load individual theme related files from the memory stick (rco/bmp/pmf/prx/etc). Thus, one can use different components of different themes without having to unpack and repack .ctf files, or write anything to flash0.
Changelog:
0.2 - Fixed 5.00m33 support
Detailed desc:
If any file exists on the memory stick in the /cxmb/override/vsh/module, /cxmb/override/vsh/resource, or /cxmb/override/font folders, it will load the file -instead- of whatever is (or isn't) in a .ctf.
Yes, this includes .prx files, (except for paf.prx, common_gui.prx, and vshmain.prx which will be added later). This means you can hex edit htmlviewer_plugin.prx and change the 'online instruction manuals' link to whatever, without unpacking and repacking your .ctf. This also opens the possibility for homebrew to edit this sort of thing onboard - for now, pspconsole's hex editor works great for onboard tweaking.
This is intended for theme developers, power users, and anyone who wishes to use their own gameboot, 01-12.bmp, sounds, or whatever, instead of what may be in the loaded theme.
As CXMB is licensed under the GPL, the full source code is provided in the source directory.
Caveats:
* For now, one must have a .ctf theme loaded for /cxmb/override/ to work.
* As in the original cxmb, lflash_drv->funcs->IoWrite is -not- hooked.
* Semi-bricking possible if one puts in a bad .prx or .rco - this can be fixed by disabling cxmb-override.prx in recovery mode.
* Adding certain stuff like 01-12.bmp will require a reboot. Others like gameboot.pmf do not require it. When in doubt, reboot.
* Simply tossing in a gameboot.pmf will not change the playing time. Find or edit the appropriate vsh/resource/opening_plugin.rco. MyGameboot.prx is a better plugin if you simply want this functionality.
* Likewise, 01-12.bmp with multiple images will not work if the chunksize for individual images is different in vshmain.prx(?). Find a theme that you like and rip/edit the 01-12.bmp from that.
* The included binary outputs debugging messages, which are normally invisible but may have a performance impact.
Tested so far:
* Firmware: 5.50gen d3final, (5.00m33 should work)
* .ctf Themes: P3T ( http://www.endlessparadigm.com/forum....php?tid=21518), V1 ( http://www.endlessparadigm.com/forum....php?tid=18662), stock 5.50gen files.
Tested replacements - (much more is possible):
01-12.bmp (wallpaper)
gameboot.pmf (pre-game video)
htmlviewer_plugin.* (web browser)
opening_plugin.rco (bootup intro, gameboot delay)
topmenu_plugin.rco (menu strings)
osk_plugin_500.* (keyboard)
rss_browser.* (rss reader)
system_plugin.* (sounds)
impose_plugin.rco (volume adjustment bar)
Links (censored because I might be a no good dirty spammer)
Project page: code.google.com/p/cxmb-override/
Download: cxmb-override.googlecode.com/files/cxmb-override-0.2.7z
Mirror: fnord.to/psp/cxmb-override-0.2.7z
Installation:
* copy cxmb/cxmb-override.prx to the cxmb folder on your memstick.
* (optional) copy the cxmb/override folder to cxmb/override on your memstick. This contains a gameboot and 01-12.bmp that have been tested to work (yes, the wallpaper is moronic :P).
** in /seplugins/vsh.txt, disable ms0:/cxmb/cxmb.prx
** in /seplugins/vsh.txt, add ms0:/cxmb/cxmb-override.prx 1
*** You can simply replace cxmb.prx too.
Usage:
* To replace a gameboot.pmf or 01-12.bmp, toss it into /cxmb/override/vsh/resource/ You may need to put an opening_plugin.rco with the right delay as well.
* The above likely applies to waves and whatever was included in TheCraziness1's 'XMB RCO Patcher'
Debuggery:
The logfile debugging function in the original cxmb croaked with high volume logging. The included binary prints to stderr instead, which means psplink and pspsh.exe are needed to see informative messages. If you want to help debug issues, a .zip of a working psplink and utilities can be provided.
I would appreciate testing and source review, as I am not -that- familiar with C or PSP programming.
Todo:
* TESTING (mostly done I believe).
* Reading from /cxmb/override without a loaded ctf.
* Retry-on-error for read/seek/open/etc as in .ctf files
* Find a better way to check for a file's existence than just attempting to open. This applies to .ctf too.
* vshmain.prx and others.
* conf.txt options for debugging/enabling/etc.
* optional 01-12.bmp chunksize and gameboot.pmf delay handling.
* options for per-module override exceptions (such as not allowing the browser to use a custom font, etc).
* overriding more than just 3 flash0 dirs without croaking (flash0:/kd/* in game mode?)
Why:
rco_patcher.prx provides functionality for replacing .rcos only, and doesn't work with cxmb. I am too lazy to constantly unpack and repack CTF themes while testing stuff.
Thanks:
* Dark_alex for cfw and especially a recovery menu with usb mode :P
* The original author of CXMB for creating it and placing it under GPL, who's name I am ignorant of because I are teh noob.
* Poisonhzkj and Matchung for coding and updating cxmb.

Just Cause 2 owners can download a free vehicle today or spend money to access a few goodies that used to be pre-order incentives.
The new vehicle, pictured below, is called the Tuk Tuk Boom Boom. Yes. Apparently it's available for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
"Pimped-out and bumped-up, this auto-rickshaw rolls with style, grace and a roof-mounted weapon of mass destruction," apparently. BOOM.
It's got reinforced shields, an armoured windscreen and "quad front-mounted air horns", for her pleasure.
So that's free. Rico's Signature Gun, the Bull's Eye Assault Rifle and the Chevalier Classic limousine, however, are 80 Microsoft Points (£0.68 / €0.96) apiece.
BOOM!
Just Cause 2's previous downloadable packs were the Black Market Aerial Pack and Black Market Boom Pack, which were 160 MSP / €1.99 each and introduced planes and weapons.

It seems Sony's proposals regarding PlayStation Plus - its new paid-for PSN service going live on June 29 - weren't clear enough, and the bombardment of questions has lead it to post a more detailed brief on exactly what you get for your cash money.
This should answer all your questions but it's fairly long so we'll leave Sony to it:
Ok, here are the basics of the new premium subscription service, PlayStation Plus:
* Launching on the 29th June
* The current PSN features will remain free. We are still very committed to PSN as a free gaming service and are certainly not planning on reducing this service following the launch of PlayStation Plus.
* Plus is an evolving service and the features included at launch will be:
- Games
- Discounts
- Exclusive items on PlayStation Store
- Full Game Trial
- Automatic Downloads
(More info on these below)
* Membership to Plus can be purchased through PlayStation Store on PS3 for either 90 days or a whole year (365 days)
* Local prices for membership can be found below, payment is a one off fee for either of the memberships and can be purchased with any of the current Store payment methods - Credit Card or PSN Cards
* If you sign up between the 29th June and 3rd Aug for the 1 year subscription then you will also receive a downloadable copy of the original LittleBigPlanet game for PS3, completely free! This is yours to keep and is not tied to the period of subscription
Here are the features in more detail -
Games & Special Offers: As a member you can expect to get your hands on at least 4 games a month at no extra charge. Each month there will be a selection of 1x PSN game, 2x minis and 1x PS One classics. A list of the games available in month 1 and 2 can be found below. You will be able to download these games during the month they are available, until the new selection replaces these.
Once downloaded, these games are yours to keep and play as long as you are a member of PlayStation Plus. If your subscription lapses and then you re-subscribe the games you have already downloaded will reactivate, so you still have access to them. Additionally, if you delete one of these titles from your PS3 but decide you want to get it back then you can re-download from the Plus section of the Store if the games is still there, or, if the game has expired from the Plus section of the Store, then you can simply search for it on the Store and download it again at no extra cost.
Each month there will be 2 dynamic themes, 2 premium avatars and premium game elements/add-ons for you to download and many of these will be exclusive to members only. These are yours to keep forever once you have downloaded them.
Plus members will also be given exclusive PlayStation Store discounts each month that are above and beyond the current Store discounts available to everyone. These discounts will range from 20% - 50% and anything you buy with these is yours to keep and enjoy forever.
Finally, wherever possible we'll be making sure that members are included in some selected demos and beta trials early, before they go live to everyone, so you can be the one to tell all your mates about the next big game they 'must' get.
As I mentioned, just the games themes and avatars are worth over £200* a year and with unrestricted access to 48+ games each year and all the other features, we think this service is great value for money.
Full Game Trial: Each month we will be offering members the chance to download 2 full games, try them out for a period of time (1 hour unless otherwise stated). Then you will have the choice to either buy the game and carry on from where you left off, or delete the game from your hard drive. This is a unique way to trial the full game experience and means you don't have to be restricted to certain levels/game modes when you test out a game.
The games in full game trail will become available to all Store users to purchase but only Plus members will have the chance to 'try before you buy'.
The other great thing about this feature is that you can continue from where you were at the end of the trial period if you decide to buy the game. All game saves and trophies earned during the trial will be unlocked and will show up on your trophy list and your trophy level, when you purchase the game. You don't even have to re-download the game, just purchase and go back to the XMB to access the game.
Automatic Download: Members will be able to set their PS3 to wake up from standby at any time of the day or night, download and install any game updates for the games you have been playing and we will also send you new game demos that will be ready and waiting for you to play when you next use your PS3. System software updates will also download automatically (manual install still required) and then the PS3 will turn itself off again.
Game updates and demos will also automatically install and the next time you turn on your PS3 you will see a brief on screen message letting you know what has been downloaded and updated.
Some other answers to frequently asked questions from the last blog post -
* Cross-game chat is not currently included in PlayStation Plus.
* You need to be the master account holder on the PS3 and be over 18 to purchase a Plus membership but other accounts on that PS3 will be able to play the games you download for as long as you are a member.
* The 4 games you can download each month are yours to keep for as long as you are a member.
* Playstation Plus is for PS3 owners as membership can only be purchased on the PS3 Store. However, some of the content - minis and PSOne Classics - available each month will also be playable on your PSP if you have one. Download them on the PS3 and transfer to your PSP, or download directly from the PSP Store or Media Go for PSP.
PlayStation Plus is an evolving service and we have taken on board all your comments from the previous blog post. We will be looking into these and we also welcome any other suggestions you have.

The BBC has confirmed that it intends to bring the new and improved iPlayer 3 application to the PS3.
BBC product manager Simon Cross told TechRadar that the update has already been planned in as part of iPlayer’s 2010 roadmap. iPlayer 3 was rolled out online at the beginning of June and is already being used by eight per cent of the app’s audience.
The updated functionality on offer in the third iteration of the IPTV service includes the ‘For You’ recommendation section, social network integration.
In September last year the BBC praised the PS3 version of the service for its enhanced playback experience, thanking Sony for the work it has done to enhance picture quality and streaming stability.
In March 2010 the BBC claimed that six per cent of the iPlayer’s total usage comes form PS3 owners, with the Wii claiming four per cent.

Sega heard your cries about the cuts in Yakuza 3 and pinky swear to make Yakuza 4 better. We spoke with Aaron Webber, Community Manager, who confirmed Yakuza 4 will have hostess clubs. So, all of the slow motion table tennis action in the Japanese version will be in the English localized release.
Other mini-games like mahjong and shogi, Japanese chess, are up in the air. Webber said he needs to check on these features before confirming anything either way.
Answer x Answer, an arcade quiz game developed by Sega Japan, won’t make the cut, though. The problem with Answer x Answer is there are 1,000 questions to localize and changing them goes beyond a text swap. The questions have characters are written on images making each one tough to edit. The arduous task of fixing Answer x Answer would push the PlayStation 3 game past spring 2011, if Sega opted to localize it.

EA Sports boss Peter Moore has told Eurogamer that there are no current plans to resurrect the SSX series of snowboarding games.
Moore was speaking to Eurogamer at E3 in a wide-ranging and slightly bonkers interview that also touched upon Andrew Wilson's golf skills at the Sony conference, Kirby's Epic Yarn and one of our readers' use of the word "milk".
"SSX is a fabulous piece of intellectual property. You never say never, but there's nothing to say right now," Moore told Eurogamer.
When asked what kind of approach EA might take were the publisher to look at restoring the series, which debuted on PlayStation 2, Moore indicated that it would not be enough simply to approach it with the same ideas in mind.
"Well, everybody talks about Tricky," he said. "I think we'd have to look at how you bring back SSX's snowboarding mechanic and make it relevant.
"It's been a number of years, some people may not even have played an SSX game. You've got to look at the current marketplace and Shaun White coming back again."
EA Sports' last SSX title was the disappointing SSX Blur on Wii.

Sony has released an update for its PSP comic book reader.
Version 2.01 of the reader makes browsing comic collections easier by adding the option to delete items and introducing a new category and publisher browsing feature, says SCE.
Comics can now also be read right-to-left and AutoFlow controls are reversed during this - perfect for Manga fans.
Finally the music player has been updated to support the MP4 and AAC format.
Does anyone read comics on their PSP then?

Level-5's upcoming RPG Ni no Kuni: The Another World is making the jump to the PlayStation 3.
Ni no Kuni is an interesting collaboration between the Professor Layton developers and beloved Japanese animators Studio Ghibli.
The game was originally a DS title and garnered attention for a unique pack-in peripheral, a magic book that is used in battles.
More details are expected to arrive soon but you can probably guess that Level-5 will aim to recreate the iconic Studio Ghibli art style in high-definition for the PS3.
We can't wait, what do you guys think?

News via http://wololo.net/wagic/2010/06/22/w...12-1-released/
The long awaited release is finally here! It’s been a while, but don’t worry, as usual, it was worth it! I want to especially thank Dr.Solomat, Salmelo and abrasax for being the real people behind the latest Wagic improvements (guys, many thanks for both your involvement in the code and on the forums!). Also Thanks to Ilya B. For the amazing new graphics!
What is Wagic?
Is it still necessary to introduce Wagic? Often compared to commercial games for its replay value and quality, Wagic is a heroic fantasy card game, in which you fight as a wizard against the computer. As you win battles, you unlock new game modes and earn credits that allow you to improve your army. Wagic is community driven, entirely customizable (you can create themes, mods, even new rules), available in several languages, and open source. It currently runs on the Sony PSP, Windows, and Linux.
Changelog
Ok, so what’s new this time? Well, lots of new cards (more than 700 new unique cards, which brings the total to more than 10000 playable cards – almost 5500 unique), some new graphics for the default theme, and a “Story mode” in Beta Version. I’ll talk about the story mode below, but let’s start with a full changelog:
More than 700 new cards, including cards from the new extension Rise of the Eldrazi (you’ll surely love those “level” cards!). Thanks to Dr. Solomat, Salmelo, and everybody contributing with ideas on the forum!
Additional graphics thanks to Ilya B. (check the cool screenshots above)
Story Mode (Beta)
Keywords/Parser updates: the parser now handles counters (thanks Salmelo, this allows to code quest cards and similar things), this/thisforeach, triggered abilities improvements, upkeep cost and similar
Improved HBL compatibility (you still have to remove the file exception.prx for Wagic to run in HBL)
The shopkeeper has new tasks for you. Get ready for more challenge and more credits! (thanks daddy32)
Various language updates (thanks to abrasax and all translators – full credits should be in the language files)
Countless bug fixes!
Story mode
This release has a new game mode, the story mode. You can give it a try, you will see that the example stories are actually a simple tutorial and a manual for the game. But these are only here to show you the possibilities that exist with the engine. It is now possible to tell an entire story within Wagic. Want to have epic battles with a cool scenario? Then go to the forums and we’ll help you create your own campaigns. The story mode is still very young, but with everyone’s ideas we plan to make it the “main” mode of Wagic. I’m not a good storyteller, but I’ll definitely improve the code if you need something and have interesting ideas! The story mode already allows the player to choose different paths in the story, earn awards for winning battles. New win conditions can easily be written with the rules engine, so you can even design challenging battles such as “win before the end of the turn”, etc…
The story mode is a completely new way to play wagic, but it’s up to you to turn it into THE way to play Wagic So give it a try and start writing your own campaign!

News via http://streetskaterfu.blogspot.com/2...it-is-and.html
Some of you may expect a little bit too much out of this. The code used runs in a very restricted area. Currently we test how far we can go into direction "overflow" and system param's we can access.
So far it's possible to command the script a bit via system parameters like the clock. The clock can be used as provider of input, for example to command simple textures in different directions or similar.
This is no exploit yet, if you may have missed that statement in the prior post. It's just a way to load scripts via USB now.
Further tests will show us what is possible at all. The information needed was given to several more devs so they can take part in the action.

The Lavalit Team have released a new version of Openbor for Consoles,Wii, PSP, Dreamcast, Dingoo, Gp2x and Wiz.
OpenBOR is a continuation of Beats Of Rage originally created by the wonderful
folks over at http://www.senileteam.com
History
----------------------
As fans of the 'Streets of Rage' series that originally appeared on the SEGA
megadrive/genesis, we always wanted to see streets of rage 4. But the waiting
proved futile, and streets of rage 4 never came. That's why we tried to correct
this mistake and fill the void by making the ultimate tribute to Streets of Rage:
Beats of Rage!!
Development
----------------------
Beats of Rage was created by Senile Team. However, the character sprites and
some parts of the backgrounds are taken from 'the King of Fighters' games by
SNK Playmore. Therefore special thanks go out to SNK Playmore and SEGA who
unknowingly helped in creating this game.
Beats of Rage and OpenBOR are a free, fully functional game, which includes
music, and features six playable levels plus a bonus level. It is available
for many systems

Log message:
Added "log" parameter to loadsample(char file, int log) script function:
0 (default) = Log error if file not found.
1 = No error logged.
This enables modder to evaluate sound files without making a mess of the log.
