As part of its broad strategy to expand on the number of things residents can do on PlayStation Home, Sony has announced it will be streaming footage of E3 into its virtual world.
Home users will be able to watch the Sony press conference, virtually together, in front of a jumbo screen.
However Sony will only begin to offer video footage from June 2, the day of its conference and one day after Microsoft’s own.
If a consumer purchases a PS3, downloads Home and decides to use it to obtain E3 info, is it not likely that this person is utterly enthusiastic about videogames, and would want to see more than one perspective on the biggest event in the gaming calendar?
Perhaps it’s unfair to disapprove of Sony’s ambition to succeed against the competition, but if people want to know about what Nintendo and Microsoft is up to, they will inevitably find out for themselves.
In removing important E3 events from Home, Sony may have missed a real chance on channelling new users into its intriguing online world.
Home users can watch and discuss Sony’s E3 happenings in the PlayStation Events Space’s Presentation Podium.

Those of you who aren't lucky enough to attend E3, this is not the post for you. For the remainder of you, however, we would like to let you know that Namco Bandai would like to test your Tekken 6 mettle at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo through an open tournament.
The company will host a two-day "Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion arcade tournament" at its booth on Wednesday, June 3, and Thursday, June 4, with the company opening sign-ups on Tuesday, June 2, to anyone passing through Namco's area on the show floor. Namco Bandai mentions a "grand prize," though the details of what this undoubtedly spectacular prize will be were not given. We have a feeling the only thing people participating in this tournament will win is less time with the other great games at the show

E3'09: Though at least the long-awaited Gran Turismo PSP could soon be with us
With the new PSP Metal Gear Solid title catching most of the pre-E3 conference software hype for Sony’s portable at the moment, the fact that talk of Gran Turismo PSP has resurfaced has crept under many people’s radars.
The elusive racer was mentioned as part of John Koller’s leaked PSP Go video – which, incidentally, you should watch ASAP if you’ve not done so already as the numerous YouTube videos are disappearing fast.
MCV’s is still up and running for now, at least.
Interestingly, VG247 now claims that journalists lined up to speak with Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo mastermind Kazanori Yamauchi have been told that no mention of GT5 is to be made – presumably as Sony will want all of the focus on the PSP version.
Gran Turismo PSP was first mentioned in the pre-launch hype for the PSP way back in 2004. Since then, the game has seemingly taken a development back to seat to Gran Turismo 4, Gran Turismo HD, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and Gran Turismo Online.

What's with the goofy grin? Did you dip into the jar of Smilex, or are you just giddy that playing as the Joker in Batman: Arkham Asylum won't cost you a dime?
Eidos has confirmed that the PS3-exclusive DLC will be free, allowing players to frolic about in the game's challenge maps as the Clown Prince of Crime when Batman: Arkham Asylum swoops onto store shelves this August.

It's been a long time coming, but the European PlayStation.Blog has confirmed that Sony's online cake-fest, Fat Princess, will receive a June release. Just in case you didn't notice, that's this month. While the release timetable is only confirmed for Europe, it's likely the PSN capture-the-princess game will find a global release.
In addition to Fat Princess, SCEE confirmed June releases for Trash Panic, Numblast and a Ghostbusters demo. PSP owners will be able to expect Ape Academy 2, Everybody's Golf 2, Syphon Filter Logan's Shadow and WipEout Pulse in the European PS Store.

PS3's downloadable antigrav racer, WipEout HD, is getting its first bit of DLC. Attendees at E3 will be able to try out "Fury," the first expansion pack for the game. Included in the upcoming pack are 8 new tracks, 13 new ships and 3 new game modes. A patch will also add new trophies, a "re-styled front-end" and improved multiplayer functionality.
One of the new modes being reintroduced to WipEout HD is the "Eliminator" mode, last seen in PSP's Pulse. This combat-centric mode gives favor to killing instead of racing. It's one of our favorite modes from WipEout Pulse, so we're glad to see it make a comeback.
In addition, the upcoming Fury DLC will add "Zone Battle," a multiplayer twist on the classic "Zone" concept. In this new mode, players will be able to acquire zone pads and choose between a speed or health boost. Opponents will be able to drop zone barriers, a deadlier WipEout interpretation of Mario Kart's banana peel. Finally, the "Detonator" mode has players shooting at mines while trying to try through 14 different stages. We'll be giving you a full hands-on report on "Fury" later this week

Sony Computer Entertainment president Kazuo Hirai has said that the company's games division is cutting corners and increasing its PlayStation Network capabilities in order to bring it to a profitable state.
"We need to quickly bring our PlayStation business on a break-even level and later to profitability," said Harai, speaking to Japan Today.
According to the article, Sony is considering expanding its PlayStation Network service to products other than its consoles, including televisions and digital cameras.
"We need a strategy where buying a hardware is not the endpoint but instead a starting point that can offer new experiences to our customers," said Hirai.
Sony reported a USD 1 billion loss for the fiscal year ending March 31, with the game segment seeing an 18 per cent decrease in sales year-on-year. In January, the outspoken Hirai made controversial statements that Sony's PlayStation division was the "official" industry leader.

So, why can't Yanks get ahold of these Blu-ray recorders again? All pent-up rage aside, what we're looking at above is LG's yet-to-be-formally-announced HR400, a Blu-ray recorder that will evidently be aimed initially at the European market. Packing BD-Live (Profile 2.0) support, a built-in DVB-T TV tuner and YouTube compatibility, this deck also arrives with 160GB of internal hard drive space for holding OTA recordings. Heck, this thing can even play back DivX HD files, stream media clips from other places on your network and upscale DVDs to 1080p. Is all that worth €599 ($852)? We're saying no, but you and your wallet can make your own darn decisions.

News via PSPita
The modder Flasheur provided the site known PSPGEN.com several photos and a video of what it believes could be a new mainboard revision of the PSP-3000: the TA-090 v3. More details in full.
Photos and Videos of TA-090v3:
Quote:
As reported on PSPGEN, this motherboard has been "discovered" by chance by disassembling Flasheur a console to change it (modding) and that gave them the pictures and a video that shows the mainboard in question. It could be therefore a new hardware revision, even if at present we do not know any details other than the presence of the number "2" printed on the PCB circled instead of the number "1" on the TA-090v2. In any event, as well as for those not hackabili of PSP (TA-088v3/TA-090v2), you can not install it permanently on a Custom Firmware NAND.
The mainboard of the PSP-3000
• TA-090 v2: First model of mainboard fitted as standard on PSP-3000. Does not allow to install any custom firmware on his NAND. For the moment there is only the Custom Firmware 5.02HEN-A PSPGEN (Gripshift Exploit) but for reasons known can not be issued. Neither The Custom Firmware Enabler is currently compatible but could be in the next few days if you manage to patch the necessary forms.
• TA-090 v3 (???): New model discovered by Flasheur who provided the photos and video. No one knows what the new features except the different number printed on the PCB. The hardware restrictions that inhibit the installation of a Custom Firmware remain the same as the TA-090v2.
It would be interesting to start the PSPident 0.4 through chickHEN to see if indeed there are substantial differences between the values for the Tachyon, Pommel and baryon (ndG).

pedroduarte0 has released a new version of the Port of Doom for the PS2, heres the release notes:
Well, almost a entire month has passed since the last update and I can assure you it was been a hell of a 4 weeks at the job. No spare time to do anything than work. No cinema, no walkings, no friends, no life. And yes, no ps2doom.
It took me only about 2-3 hours of quality free time on this week end to understand how strafe was implemented at lsdldoom and how key/button events are handled in Doom. So, implementing strafe for the right analog stick was almost a linear task and for better, it wasn’t necessary to change the code dramatically.
Now ps2doom plays beautifully with strafing If you never tried this feature on ps2 lsdldoom port, you don’t know what you’re missing now on ps2doom! It tooks the gameplay to another dimension completely. Actually, I feel the gameplay with a Dualshock PS2 controller surpasses by large keyboard gameplay at action time, not accounting for the extra functions you can quickly access though keyboard.
Have a try and lots of fun! Doom is incredibly addicting, even after you finished it over and over.
As usual, source is included with the pack:

Over 100 contestants competed in a seven hour (!) King of Fighters XII tournament in Hollywood yesterday, and when the smoke cleared, one winner was awarded a stately paper crown. Oh, and a full-sized King of Fighters arcade machine, straight from Japan. Reynold Tacsuan defeated Alex Phan in the best-of-three finals when his soldier Ralf Jones dealt a deathblow to Judo master Goro Daimon.
Multiple arcade units and PS3s were set up around the venue featuring the new game, which doesn't hit U.S. shores until July 16, so attendees could face off while the tourney took place on the main stage. One station even went old-school with Intellivision, an Atari 2600 and an old Vectrex system. if only they'd had KoF back then.
I am 8-bit was on hand throughout the event with scantily clad nurses administering fake cuts, bruises, and wounds to unblemished skin in their Anti-ER. Which got us thinking: even though we're all for friendly competition in gaming, it would takes things up a notch if some company starts turning these events into feats of skill and muscle. It's high time they brought competitive arm wrestling to the world of video games.
