Unsurprisingly, there's a brand new Metal Gear game coming out. No, Kojima Production's countdown isn't over yet (that's later today!). A listing at a Japanese 7-Eleven product database reveals that an upcoming issue of Famitsu PSP+PS3 will feature a brand new Metal Gear game. The magazine is scheduled to ship next week, on May 30th.
We're pretty certain the upcoming Kojima Productions reveal is somehow tied to this upcoming Famitsu story. Considering the game will be featured in a PlayStation-exclusive magazine makes it a pretty safe bet that the game will arrive on either PS3 or PSP. Perhaps handheld players will get a chance at a new Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops experience -- Konami indicated their interest in a sequel over two years ago.

Sony is considering a subscription-based digital game rental service for its PlayStation Portable console, according to a recently unearthed consumer survey.
According to consumer gaming blog Joystiq, the survey is polling PSP owners on various subscription options for a games-on-demand service for the portable console.
"The service will enable you to download a fixed number of games during your subscription period," the survey says, describing a system in which consumers would choose an undetermined number of titles to play during a fixed period, with the option to choose new titles once the subscription period - which may be weekly, monthly, or otherwise - has ended.
"At launch there will be an extensive catalogue of games to choose from, with more titles being added to the catalogue each month," the survey also said.
Rumors have been circulating since earlier this year that a new PSP model will ship without a UMD media drive, opting instead for an all-digital distribution model. The company released Patapon 2 as a download-only title as a "test case" in April, and further rumors have circulated that the new PSP will launch with 100 digital titles - possibly available on a rental basis, if the service described in this survey materialises.

Every Dragon Ball game gets an international release these days. The recently announced Dragon Ball: Raging Blast won’t be an exception to the rule.
Namco Bandai’s 2009 fiscal report lists a new Dragon Ball Z game slated to come out in Japan and Europe in the second half of the year. Dragon Ball: Raging Blast has DBZ characters and it’s a PS3 / Xbox 360 game. Sounds like a good match!
What about North America, you say? Count on Dragon Ball: Raging Blast coming here too. If a European release is slated you can this game is being localized. However, Namco Bandai won’t be involved with the domestic release. Atari still holds the rights to publishing Dragon Ball games in North America. Namco Bandai Games Europe purchased Atari Europe earlier this year which makes Namco Bandai the publisher of Dragon Ball: Raging Blast in PAL territories.

The domestic line up of downloadable PsOne games is thin, but it appears that Sony will fill up the store with heavy hitters like Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil: Director’s Cut.
Both of these games were re-rated by the ESRB as PlayStation 3 and PSP games with Sony Computer Entertainment as the publisher — a good sign that these will be re-released on the PlayStation Store. Spec Ops: Cover Assault, Spec Ops: Ranger Elite, and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six also got the same treatment.
So, when will we get these games? The last time we dug up re-rated PsOne games they showed up in the PlayStation Store the same day. However, other games like Suikoden and Castlevania: Chronicles didn’t appear for months.

The ESRB has outed another Star Wars Battlefront game, this time for DS and PSP.
Subtitled Elite Squadron, the listings (spotted by Kotaku) describes two subtly different titles.
Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron on PSP is third-person action, for instance, whereas the DS version is action adventure. The DS blurb makes no mention of troop building or upgrading, which will apparently feature on PSP.
The PSP has hosted Star Wars Battlefront before, of course - most recently Renegade Squadron, which had great ideas and all the potential in the world, but lacked significant depth and longevity.
Star Wars: Battlefront III was thought to be in development at Haze maker Free Radical Design for PC, PS3 and 360. Free Radical entered administration last December, the collateral of which saw supposed footage of Battlefront III leak onto the internet.
British developer Rebellion is supposedly picking up the pieces, although the company is currently hard at work making Aliens vs. Predator for SEGA.
Maybe we'll see something Battlefront-related at E3 next week.

From Software’s PS3 exclusive RPG, Demon’s Souls, is coming to North America this fall care of Atlus. The game is being called the “ultimate hardcore RPG challenge” a statement I totally agree with.
I played Demon’s Souls before and it’s tough. I died… a lot. Demon’s Souls is really a perfect fit for Atlus, difficulty wise it’s the Shin Megami Tensei of action RPGs. Demon’s Souls also has a neat networking system where you can leave tips seen as bloodstains in other people’s games. You can also log on an play or slay another warrior exploring the cursed land of Boletaria.
I wonder how Atlus is handling the localization. Prior to the announcement Sony Computer Entertainment Asia translated Demon’s Souls into English. Note to self: ask Atlus about this and compatibility with the Asian version at E3.

Media Molecule's Alex Evans has revealed that LittleBigPlanet will be getting a web-based portal that users can easily share and advertise their levels on.
This, he told 1UP at the Nordic Game Conference in Sweden this week, abolishes the need for self promotion on forum - as each creation is given a custom URL that we can opt to queue for download next time we turn our PS3 on.
The portal also offers leaderboards, photos and comments. Mm will even offer the tools for us to create custom LBP-related applications on websites like Flickr and Google Earth.
Evans said the portal is currently being beta tested, with a launch planned "as soon as possible".
Media Molecule is also hard at work on a PSP version of LittleBigPlanet. We expect to hear and perhaps see more at E3.

Sony to head off iPhone 3.0 at the pass by offering downloadable game rentals.
ME-sister site Develop has confirmed that developers were briefed about the service as far back as March, providing info and documents in closed-door meetings at GDC.
Reports suggesting the existence of a PSP rental service first surfaced on Joystiq, where the news site published a consumer questionnaire that had been sent out to various PSP owners.
The survey attempts to gauge consumer interest on various subscription options for a games-on-demand service.
Interesting, game subscriptions and in-game billing is something that will become possible when v3.0 of the iPhone OS is released next month.
Sony has of course made no official announcement about the service, nor has it made an official announcement about a UMD-less, PSN-focused successor to the PSP.
Rumours of a new digital PSP model to head off increasing competition from the likes of iPhone began in December last year, and have intensified since.

And Sony studio prepares for another five years with user-generated content hint
Five years ago on May 21st SingStar was released, and as the anniversary passes, the development team at Sony's London Studio are already looking forward to the series' future.
While full details are unconfirmed, it appears that London Studio will be adding complete video editing functionality to SingStar's online element, allowing uses to customise videos of their performances.
Speaking to Develop about the the plans for the future of SingStar, London Studio development director Mike Haigh revealed: “I think the key word there is emergence. You can’t plan emergence – you have to listen to your community, and put tools in place so you can easily listen, so that there’s no barriers or other influence from external forces.
Watching how people use video and the pause button gives us good indication as to what to do next, and that’s a hint at what we might be doing in the future.”
To celebrate SingStar's birthday, Develop has interviewed key members of the team and looked over the creation of the hugely popular karaoke game in an in-depth feature. There's also a detailed time-line in the features section for those looking to familiarise themselves with the progression of the series.

Ready for some more PSP rumors? CNET's got it on good word that Sony's been talking to some of the big recording labels about putting their music on the PlayStation Network for download, specifically with the PSP in mind. It really isn't much of a stretch, especially when you think about the service's ever-growing library of movies and TV shows. And of course, Sony itself is one of the four largest music companies in the world, so if it really had to go on its own for a bit, it should be able to muster a few good artists. It's just a rumor for now, but this definitely feels like the natural progression for PSN and the company's do-everything device. You know what would go great with a PSP music download service? A slide-out gamepad and a Memory Stick HG-Micro slot to replace UMDs... Just sayin'.

There's no doubt that Sony has a 400-disc Blu-ray Mega Changer on the cooker -- heck, we saw the thing last year at CEDIA -- but up until now, there's been no indication of its nearness to market. According to a vague Swiss product page and a report from Sony Insider, however, the launch date is indeed drawing near. If hunches prove legitimate, the BDP-CX7000ES will allow 400 of your favorite BD flicks to sit within a single console, and we've every reason to believe that this one will support BD-Live and actually load films with some amount of haste. You know, very much unlike the 200-disc HES-V1000 that's already out there. As of now, it's looking like the unit will run right around $2,300, placing it squarely in rarefied air and ostensibly out of reach for the vast majority of home theater junkies.

Levone has updated his game for PSP:
IDKWTFTPIC == I Don't Know What The F*ck This Puzzle Is Called.
or you can call it "lights out"
GAMEPLAY:
what you have to do is get the whole screen one color.
red or blue, it doesn't matter.
however, its not as easy as it sounds, when you select a tile, all tiles around it flip to the other color as well as the selected.
CONTROLS:
Dpad == move tile selector
cross == Flip tiles
start == game menu

News/release from warlock
Long awaited update... Now its a prx because running the eboot every single time you booted up your psp is really gay...
If you dont know what it is...
Don't you hate when you are playing a game and about to beat the level and your psp power is low and you have to run to go get the charger? Well that is no more because with the Psp Power Saver you can now play for longer periods time.Just enable the prx and viola. This is just a beta release so you probably wont notice the power increase because its only about a 10% increase. In later revisions i will attempt to amp it up to about 50 or 100%. So enjoy... I am not responsible for your psp blowing up when you use this This project is closed source for now, i wont release the source until i abandon the project or until i cant do anything else with it...
How it works:
This turns off the umd driver when you are not using it (iso/cso, Homebrew, internet, music ect.) In turn this will save you about 5% of power. Also turns off the drivers that load up the rss channel, location free player, gocam, and the internet radio. (You can still use these they just are off when you are not)
Installation:
Put the PspPowerSaver.prx in your seplugins folder And add
ms0:/seplugins/PspPowerSaver.prx to your game.txt
Changelog:
v.0.0.7 -Converted it to a prx because running the eboot everytime at power up was really gay
-Now 10%
