Hey everyone. So I have been working on a update for LuaPlayer 0.20. Not for long but a few major changes that result in a huge speed boost.
I will take the rest from the readme files :
What is LuaPlayer Euphoria ?
LuaPlayer Euphoria is a branch of LuaPlayer that is optimized for speed, Whilst staying true to
the ease of use and function names we have all grown to love.
What can it do? What makes it different to the normal LuaPlayer ?
It can display images up to 100%+ faster than
the default LuaPlayer, by automatically swizzling the images as there loaded.
It also features Mp3 support. This is done on the main processor for now. Don't worry however, this is a optimized mp3Player.
Whilst displaying a 480x272 image and playing a Mp3 file, LuaPlayer Euphoria can achieve
up to 228 FPS (Frames Per Second) running at only 222mhz!. (SEE SAMPLE DEMO FOR PROOF!)
It also features CPU Speed control. Which can be done by the user. So you can set the PSP's CPU to either : 100, 222, 266 or 333mhz.
Another feature, albeit trivial, is a built in FPS Function. By simply calling "showFPS()" you can see your game/applications
current FPS out of 60 frames. If you want to see its "True" FPS, comment out screen.waitVblankStart and pad = Controls.Read() - as these
cap the framerate to 60.
The last feature (so far) is the ability to properly free images. I don't know if this worked before but anyway...
Simply call "freeImage(myImage)" (with myImage being the image you want to free) and it will remove the image from memory.
It goes without saying that you should not be displaying the image your trying to free at the time of freeing it.
+ A lot more to come!
It is slim and phat compatible. Should work on 1.0>5.xx firmwares. Should also work
on chickHen.
Why use this over PGE or LuaPlayer HM ?
Well thats a good question. If you don't like the way PGE lua or LuaPlayer HM are set up (ie function names, calls)
and prefer the old lua player in that sense (just not the performance), then LuaPlayer Euphoria is the answer
you have been looking for.
Where can I find the new functions list?
In the download see the "Functions & Features" text file.
Has all the usual function names changed?
No and they never will. Even with new features I am trying to keep
the naming convention and required function calls to a minimum. After all no-one likes having to call 4>6 functions just to initialize the graphics now do they
Are we going to see more in the future ?
Provided there is genuine interest from a decent sized group of people then yes. I wont be doing this
for the good of my health... lol.
So yeah, if there are enough people using it, and enough people interested in the project I will keep working on it.
I will also try my best to add any new features you desire.
If you would like to request a feature be added, please do so at the official forum : LuaPlayer Euphoria Forum

Uberjack has posted some WIP news of his port of Vice the Commodore Systems emulator for the PSP:
VICE PSP is largely complete; I say “largely,” because the main thing holding it back at the moment is intermittent sound lag.
What is definitely going to be in the release:
The usual features present in my other computer emulator ports: virtual keyboard, state autoloading, per-game configurable input, peripheral indicators, state saving/loading
Support for tape images, disk images, cartridges. Each can be “inserted”, “ejected”, and auto-run (by which I mean that a specific program on tape/disk can be automatically run) separately
Several other things that are a side-effect of being a port of VICE, so to speak
The sound lag issue presents itself when emulator begins to skip frames - sound works perfectly (as far as VICE is concerned, anyway) otherwise. It would be fairly safe to say that once this is fixed, a release is imminent.

News/release from sined95
Here at last!
Here the game thinking long-awaited chicky, which reveals that under the 2nd opus as announced here and there.
The big change is in the graphics when the great help of maxdéoxis. From the loading screen credits, all images are passed through the center of beauty. The theme is rather focused on the side windows vista and plays on the effects of light perfectly.
But I think the final images will be worth more than a thousand words!
So when the game starts, you are greeted by the main image of the game that shows us directly the theme of the game graphisque
Wait a little, you get the menu, too unrecognizable.
Here are the options available to you:
- SOLO PART: Start a party only to find the code that you will have AI.
TWO-PART A: Start a party where one chose the code and find the other.
-RULES: 3 pages to describe the rules of this game of logic.
-CREDITS: Find information on this game
-QUIT: The option to not choose, it is back to XMB.
I will now explain the different modes:
Solo part:
Choose the option "solo party". You will be asked the number of colors desired.
Get a little help and press: Cross. The game begins.
Hurry, there is a meter long!
Part 2:
Choose the 2nd option, "part 2".
The 1st player takes the psp and dials the code that the other will find.
May the best win!
Rules:
That little ignore these rules? ^ ^
To navigate between the three pages, use: r: and: l:.
Credits:
Press: cross: to return to the menu.
Quit:
Back to the XMB
The game provides heated to the meninges of the players. Hang on!
However, note the absence of ADHOC mode chicky that had started but could not finish.
The other bad news is that the developer can not be released soon version 3, but another will begin Thursday I find it a great pity!
If you find bugs in the game, give him advice, help send a mail to t.gindre @ laposte.net.
Feel free to send messages of encouragement to try to have a v.3 but this remains unlikely.
Version 1 was a coded begun in November 2008. It is therefore 6 months working on it.
Thank you.

News via streetskaterFU:
In the past few days we noticed many hints pointing that the PlayStation3 operating system may be based on Apple's Darwin (OS X = Darwin + Aqua).
As big Apple fans as we are, you might remember this video from 2005/2006:
You clearly can see a demonstration of IBM showing the CELL chip running on a MAC OS X desktop. They also stated, that they show this terrain engine over a year, which means 2004/2005. (http://www.macnn.com/articles/05/08/...er.compatible/)
For the fast fact searching guys of you, here a little FAQ we made:
Q: Can Darwin even run on the PS3's architecture?
A: Yes it can! The PPC is supported by Darwin.
Q: How about the HDD file system?
A: The PS3 uses a few partitions with different file systems, the major one is UFS2, which is also supported by Darwin and all other BSD Systems (Darwin is also in the BSD branch).
Q: Can I see hints in the XMB?
A: Yes you can! Just take a quick look on the "Information Board" and compare it with Apples widget system. (more about it below)
Q: PS3 uses ELF files as executables? Darwin uses MACH-O !?
A: The usage of ELF files could be adopted in Darwin.
Now we come to the PS3's "Information Board". After knightsolidus' HDD decryption methode showed up, several people posted some file lists on forums like demonhades.org. There we see; for example, those filenames:
"/npdrm/informationboard/
Dutch.lproj
Italian.lproj
da.lproj
nb.lproj
setting.xml
zh_CN.lproj
French.lproj
Japanese.lproj
data
pt.lproj
setting_qa.xml
zh_TW.lproj
German.lproj
Spanish.lproj
fi.lproj
rss.swf
string
Icon.png
config.xml
ko.lproj
ru.lproj
sv.lproj"
So put the "lproj" in google and what does show up? Ah! - MAC stuff again "lproj" means "language project directories".
http://developer.apple.com/DOCUMENTA...alization.html
Once you enter the lproj folder you will notice file names which are again exact the same as on the developer site above. Open them and again - identical commands inside.
"Localizing Widgets" - The XMB widget is based on it.
Back in 2006 Kotaku reported about the official PS3 US website showing an Apple logo on the frontsite of a PS3.
Surely SONY gave a short statement, claiming it was caused by "an external error". Who knows ^^
To finalize this post, a short quote by Ken Kutaragi:
"The kernel will be running on the Cell, and multiple OSes will be running on top of that as applications. Of course, the PS3 can run Linux. If Linux can run, so can Lindows. Other PC Operating Systems can run too, such as Windows and (Mac OS) Tiger, if the publishers want to do so."
To much coincidences for us ;-)

May 14th, 2009, 22:04 Posted By: wraggster
Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) today announced that EA SPORTS has innovated a new, physical brand of hockey that includes first-person fighting in NHL 10 to match the toughness and emotional intensity real-world NHL players endure in pursuit of a Stanley Cup Championship.
The franchise that has won 19 sports game of the year awards over the past two years begins a new era with gameplay innovations that deliver a new standard of toughness, the emotion of playoff hockey on the ice and in the arena, and over 200 gameplay refinements that replicate the skill and finesse that every fan sees throughout the NHL playoffs.
A new first-person fighting engine enables players to trade punches with an NHL tough guy. Feel what it's like to be on the ice in the skates of an NHL player to throw and dodge punches. Grab and tug an opponent's jersey to land a punch that ignites the fans and sparks your team to victory. Challenge a skill player and an opposing team tough guy will step in to settle the score.
On ice toughness and intimidation is taken to a new level in NHL 10 where winning one-on-one battles for possession of the puck along the boards becomes a test of will and skill. Utilizing an all-new board physics engine, players can use their body to shield the puck on the boards and then kick-pass it to teammates. Bigger, stronger players pin opponents to the boards while fanatical fans bang on the glass, just like real life. Fore-check defenders, pressure the puck and finish checks to intimidate your opponent into mistakes. Players fatigue, bobble passes, and avoid collisions under threat of constant physical pressure. Inspire teammates, ignite the fans and change the momentum of a game by instigating scrums, drawing penalties, and mixing it up — all after the referee blows the whistle!
"This is the most authentic simulation of hockey we have ever created," said Producer David Littman, a former NHL and minor league goaltender now in his eighth year working on the NHL franchise. "The Stanley Cup is the most difficult trophy in all of sports to win and NHL 10 replicates the emotion, intensity and toughness players require to win the Cup."
NHL 10 features more than 200 gameplay refinements that replicate the skill and finesse of hockey and deliver the most responsive and authentic action ever for the series. Players can one-time loose pucks, score from their knees, knock pucks out of the air and lift a leg to fake a shot on goal. A new 360 degree precision passing mechanic delivers control over the speed and direction of passes so players can bank passes off the boards or play the puck into space for teammates to skate on to it. Plus, all-new interactive crowds bring the emotion of playoff hockey to life with towel-waving fans, glass bangers and crowds that react to the action on the ice.
Prove you are tough enough to quiet the crowd, silence the opposition and survive a playoff run to lift the Stanley Cup in NHL 10.
NHL 10 will be available in stores this September for the PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system with an MSRP of $59.99. It is developed under the EA SPORTS brand by EA Canada in Burnaby, B.C. The game has not been rated.
EA SPORTS is the leading interactive sports software brand in the world, with top-selling titles and franchises including Madden NFL football, FIFA Soccer, NHL hockey, NBA LIVE basketball, NCAA Football, and Tiger Woods PGA TOUR?.
*Based on total sales in 2008 according to the NPD.

via Eurogamer
PlayStation Home community manager "TedTheDog" has admitted that Europe trails other regions in the number of themed areas PS3 Avatars can explore.
"Let's be honest, SCEE Home is behind the other regions in the number of Spaces we have to offer," he writes on the European PlayStation forum (via VG247). "That's not to say we don't have some really good clothing and furniture, we've actually got some excellent partners in the Shopping Centre. And we've also got Red Bull and Xi (the latter still has some way to run and some more surprises to bring you.) And Red Bull have another trick up their sleeve too...
"But overall, we're short on Spaces in general. In isolation we don't think this makes SCEE Home a bad place but we fully understand the regional comparisons and why they're made."
So, he adds, priorities will be switched to production of Spaces for the foreseeable future. The first task is implementing some of the older content "we've been missing for a while now" - areas like Uncharted, Warhawk, Guitar Hero and Resident Evil 5. After that, he hopes new spaces can launch simultaneously with other regions.
The European team has been recruiting to meet this end, and is apparently considering 17 Spaces to add over the next two to four months. Not all will make the cut.
TedTheDog also says Sony will try to share information sooner with the community, and aim to communicate the latest Home changes "one week in advance".

New downloadable PsOne games are trickling on North America’s PlayStation Store. Three titles came out last week. King of Fighters ‘99 and Medal of Honor: Underground are coming in the future.
The ESRB re-rated Bowling, R-Type Delta, Medal of Honor: Underground, and King of Fighters ‘99 as PlayStation 3 / PSP games. The first two games on the list, Bowling and R-Type Delta, were released last week.
Since we only have ESRB ratings we don’t know when Sony will put these online. Street Fighter Alpha 2 hasn’t appeared on PSN and we caught that rating last year. However, SCEA and Ignition, who now publishes SNK games, will want KOF ‘99 to re-release the game soon to capitalize on King of Fighters XII fever.

Sony has restocked the PSN cupboards ahead of the Eurovision Song Contest weekend.
The two most expensive items are the Texas Cheat 'Em game - a collection of casino-themed mini-games that can be influenced by 15 cheating abilities - and a bundle of extra outfits for every Street Fighter IV character. Both cost 10 quid (EUR 12.99).
Down a rung are PSN games Bejeweled 2 and Zen Pinball. Bejeweled 2 we'd avoid, and there's a demo of Zen Pinball to try before you buy. Both cost GBP 6.29 / EUR 7.99.
Elsewhere, there's more content for PAIN, three free missions for the decent Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2 and the first free livery pack for MotorStorm: Pacific Rift.
Everything else is a little underwhelming - even the ever-increasing library of Rock Band and Guitar Hero World Tour songs.

The Prison Service has denied claims that prisoners in UK jails are using games consoles to organise crime on the outside.
As reported by The Times, the claims were made by the Serious Organised Crime Agency. SOCA director general Batman, sorry Bill Hughes, was speaking at the launch event for a new report.
"We know that one of the issues is that if you are locked up, how do you communicate with others? And we have been highlighting the fact it is not always with mobile telephones," he said.
"There is other technology used. People are using PlayStations to charge their mobile phones and are playing games interactively with others, so are able to communicate with them."
According to Hughes, prisoners are using "interactive games" to chat to their criminal chums. "Communication is the name of the game and criminals are looking to exploit new technologies. Prisoners have rights and they have access to the internet," he said.
"Some new prison guards are also being used without knowing it, but they soon become streetwise." Presumably they stop handing out WEP keys, routers, ethernet cables etc.
But according to the men in charge, it's all a load of nonsense. "Prisoners have never been allowed access to wireless enabled technology such as that used in some games consoles. Nor would they ever be allowed access to such technology," said a Prison Service representative, jangling a huge bunch of keys.
"A decision was taken some years ago that the then-current generation of games consoles should be barred because the capability to send or receive radio signals is an integral part of the equipment."
SOCA says it's heard otherwise, though it won't reveal how.
Meanwhile, Eurogamer is launching its own investigation into outside communications after a company Xbox 360 was used to send the message, "PLS HLP THEY R TORTRING ME W/ BAD GAMES. SEND A BIG CAKE WITH A FILE IN IT."

Activision has told Eurogamer that Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings will be released for DS, PS2, PSP and Wii on 12th June.
The date follows the bizarre revelation that Han Solo will be a playable character in the game.
He'll be able to use his laser pistol, according to a StarWars.com trailer, but otherwise acts more-or-less the same as Indiana Jones: pouty one-liners, rugged good looks, stick insect girlfriends and so on and so forth.
We're not sure whether Han is the the secret co-op character LucasArts teased back at the game's unveiling in February, incidentally.
Of the SKUS, the Wii version provides the most interest, with motion-sensing whip and punching controls, and gesture-based escape sequences. There's multiplayer, too.
