Gran Turismo 5 finally made an appearance at Sony's E3 briefing in the form of a short trailer showing off the game. Polyphonic Digital's latest racer will bring rally racing to the series, and while the visuals looked terrific, we didn't get to see any actual gameplay, so there's no major indications whether it'll be more like Gran Turismo 4 or more like Gran Turismo 5 Prologue.
But either way, we bet it'll be Gran Turismo. No date set for release, obviously -- we'll bring you a nice-looking version of the trailer when we can.

Sony has finally unveiled the third game from Fumito Ueda's Sony Japan team, previously codenamed Trico. Now it's called The Last Guardian.
In a polished re-run of the leaked trailer from a while ago, we see an Ico-esque boy's first encounter with the winged cat/rat/bird thing that he seems to befriend, while that music from Miller's Crossing plays over the top.
Kiddo climbs on the creature's head and surveys a crumbling city as the sun sets over a mountain range, and then we see the other sights: cat/bird/wotsit meowing/crawing at him emotively, boy sneaking up on it while it appears to sleep in the shadows, and various shots of co-operation.
There are bridges giving way as the boy clings to the creature's tail, gloriously pretty underwater bits, lots of lush vegetation and dancing insects caught by the sunlight - and some grumpy swordsmen, who fall foul to physics-based deaths.
The footage goes into more depth than the leak overall, with a mixture of platform and puzzle-style scenes and more peaceful, er, sleeping scenes.
It's due out for PlayStation 3 exclusively, although we didn't catch a date from Sony America boss Jack Tretton.

3'09: New game in the Play, Create, Share series coming
Sony has shown off Modnation Racers for PlayStation 3 at E3, the spiritual successor to LittleBigPlanet.
The game, which is developed by United Front Games, is scheduled for release in 2010 and is part of the Play, Create, Share series - a label previously given to LittleBigPlanet.
The title offers a modern mix onclassic kart racing, and is apparently ‘only possible on PlayStation 3.’
Like LittleBigPlanet, Modnation Racers allows players to create their own tracks and characters in a simple manner.

The PlayStation Eye with a color changing LED wand was shown with the wand morphing into a tennis racket and stop sign. Other items like a flashlight and dart gun were demonstrated in a virtual room. Sony plans on launching the wand in spring 2010.
The controller has 1:1 motion tracking and buttons to replicate items like a gun. It’s possible to use two wands at once. Another demo tested writing to demonstrate precision. A RTS demo and combat fighting with a skeleton dummy was shown. One wand acted as a shield, the other was for the sword. It looks pretty precise!

Newly released today
features
You decide who, when, where and how to battle. Utilize guerrilla tactics, improvised weaponry, and modified vehicles to lead insurgent attacks on EDF targets. Use destruction to your tactical advantage, setting ambushes or chain reaction explosions to attack enemy strongholds and permanently modify the game environment. Leverage fully-dynamic physics-based destruction to improvise on the fly: blow holes in a wall or floor to set an ambush or escape, take out a staircase to stop your pursuers, or drive vehicles through blown out walls
Carve your path through an ever changing landscape as you improvise your combat tactics – mixing gameplay styles, vehicles, weapons and explosives to defeat the EDF
Explore the huge, unforgiving Martian landscape, from the desolate mining outpost of Parker to the gleaming EDF capital city of Eos; then tear through the fully destructible open-world environments swarming with EDF forces, Red Faction resistance fighters, and the downtrodden settlers caught in the cross-fire
There is no place to hide when you put your guerrilla warfare skills to the test in a variety of highly destructive multiplayer combat modes
description

And here it comes: After Xbox 360's Project Natal, Sony is also adding their own motion controller to the PS3, aptly named: The PlayStation Motion Controller. It's the best motion control demo that we have ever seen.
The sampling of the motion is extremely accurate and smooth, very tight, completely 1:1. moving at 60 frames per second.
Like the Wiimote, the new controller is a stick. However, instead of using gyroscopes, the PlayStation Motion Control is similar to Hollywood-style motion capture: It uses a camera to track a purple ball on the stick. There can be two sticks with two balls, and each stick also have a trigger, for first person shooters.
The PlayStation Motion Controller will be launched in 2010.

Sony just announced the rumored new motion controller for the PS3 -- the prototype looks like a wand with a color-changing ball on top. It's designed to work in conjunction with the PlayStation Eye, with the wand overlaid on-screen with a weapon or tool. Unlike Microsoft's Project Natal, Sony says they've learned "some experiences need buttons," which is why there's still a controller involved. The system is said to be "sub-millimeter" precise, and it was demoed drawing and playing a shooter -- it's sort of the middle ground between Natal and Wii Motion Plus. Sony says it'll launch in the spring of 2010, but we don't know what pricing will be like yet.

Completionists looking forward to strapping themselves in Da Vinci's flying machine in Assassin's Creed II will need to pick up the game's PSP version as well. Speaking during Sony's E3 2009 press gathering, Ubisoft revealed that the upcoming sequel will feature unlockable weapons, which players will only be able to unsheathe by connecting the game to the series' upcoming PSP debut this holiday. Animus compatibility, however, is still a ways off, so we're told.

Looks like the PlayStation 3 is getting a double dose of Final Fantasy next year, as Sony reveals a new online Final Fantasy XIV for the PlayStation 3. Yes, XIV.
A complete and utter surprise to the entire audience, Final Fantasy XIV will be coming to the PlayStation 3 exclusively next year, assumedly after Final Fantasy XIII is released. A brief trailer was shown which looked very much like Final Fantasy XI, with the text "A new online epic begins."
So it sounds like an exclusive, massively multiplayer online game for the PlayStation 3. We'll have more as soon as there is more to have!

Sony has pledged a commitment to creating more casual games for the PSP.
Speaking at the opening Sony press conference at E3 2009 today, SCEA's Jack Tretton said: "We are working to increase our offering to younger gamers and 'tweens, and we're currently working with Disney on a Hannah Montana bundle with a lilac PSP."
The announcement, which was followed by detail about the new PSP Go handheld, was greeted by whoops and cheers, and was part of a dialogue that promises Soiny is committed to maximising the potential of the platform.
The PSP Go has no UMD slot, and will focus on downloadable content. The device will also be supported by a range of TV, film and sports video contentservices.
"The PSP Go will not replace the PSP 3000 and UMD, and we will continue to support both," said Tretton.

Those lucky basts at engadget have got a hands on of the new PSP go:
Well we battled the mob to get our first hands on with Sony's latest PSP -- the Go! It was actually fairly light in hand, but not un-solid feeling. We thought there could be a little more depth between your thumbs and palm of your hand, and it felt a bit hard to locate the shoulder buttons, but that may be because we're used to the older model. Look -- we know what you really want, so hit the gallery below!

Sony has landed a big Rockstar exclusive -- they have just announced that the Grand Theft Auto developer is bringing a new IP called Agent to the PS3. Details are still as shrouded in secrecy like so many spies, but we're told the game "will take the player across the globe" to participate in various spy-related activities.
Sony says they expect Agent to have the same effect on their platform as the original GTA3 exclusive did with the PS2, but we'll have to see. They didn't show gameplay or even a cinematic at the press conference, so even though the prospect of a Rockstar-developed PS3 exclusive sounds enticing, we'll probably have to wait quite a while for more.

E3'09: Brand new game in popular horror franchise coming to Sony’s handheld
Sony has just announced that a new chapter in the Resident Evil franchise will be coming to PSP.
No other details about the Capcom-developed game was revealed, other than it will hit the machine in 2010.
Sony SCEA CEO and president Jack Tretton said: “We’re pleased to announce Resident Evil is coming to PSP in a whole new game designed specifically for the platform.”
The new Resident Evil follows the hugely successful release of Resident Evil 5 on PS3 and Xbox 360, and will be released after the Wii-exclusive on-rails shooter, Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles.
