Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and SPIL GAMES, the world's ultimate online game destination, today announced that the official mini-game for the upcoming title, inFAMOUS, will debut exclusively on SPIL GAMES online casual game portals from May 22-29. Playable directly in the browser window on both PC and Mac computers, the mini-game will showcase the action-adventure gameplay style featured in the hotly anticipated inFAMOUS PLAYSTATION 3 game expected to launch in Europe in late May 2009.
In the inFAMOUS mini-game developed by Kerb, players get to extend their inFAMOUS experience through playing this free platform based 2D version of the PS3 title. The plot of the mini-game is based around the game's main character, Cole, navigating his way to a power generator located on the roof of an abandoned precinct house in Empire City.
Players have to battle their way through gangs of iconic villains whilst solving puzzles using Cole's agility and electrical super powers. In addition to achieving the games ultimate goal, player's actions are constantly being monitored, providing real-time updates of how in-game decisions affect their morality.
The style in which players complete the game dictates the final scenes of the game, as well as letting players compare their own morality against players from around the EU.

Nippon Ichi started rolling out downloadable content for Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days yesterday. If Disgaea 3 is any indicator we’re going to see a lot of cameo characters. At least some of this week’s add-ons are freebies.
Netherworld denizens can get an extra quest with Toro and Kuro, the cats from Sony’s Doko Demo Issyo games. Toro and Kuro occasionally show up in the Item World’s Innocent Town carrying gifts if you accept their hide and seek challenge. You can also get a Toro’s Fist, a glove for Axel. Plenair, one of this week’s three downloadable cameos, is also being given out for free.
Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days is scheduled to come out in North America this August.

Codemasters' Fuel is big, and while some may argue that size doesn't matter, they're probably just jealous of the open-world racer's immense girth. In fact, the upcoming off-road racing game was recently crowned by Guinness World Records for having the largest playable environment in a console game ever with 5,560 square miles of accessible in-game terrain.
To help us wrap our heads around how big that is, the Codies say that's larger than Hong Kong, Singapore, St Lucia and the Isle of Man put together. Let's just hope developer Asobo (pictured) remembers to fill all that space with enough to do, else it's going to be a very long and boring ride. Are we there yet?

Capcom has announced that the PSP demo of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite will be available next Thursday, 28th May.
We knew a sampler was on the way after Sony outlined a major Monster Hunter push for Europe when speaking at Captivate in April. The aim: to make the series as wildly successful here as it is in Japan, where the PSP gives the DS a run for its money.
You'll be able to download the demo directly to PSP for free, or through the PS3 and then transfer the file across. The sampler offers a slice of monster hunting, either solo, or with up to three friends online.
Capcom's even giving away demo UMDs to people who register on the Monster Hunter encyclopaedia site. Capcom and Japanese Monster Hunter fans put this site together to help us Europeans feel less intimidated by the game. If successful, you'll get four UMDs.
Monster Hunter does what it says on the tin: hunt monsters for better loot to enable bigger monsters to be taken on. Eventually, however, friends will need to be called in to help topple the biggest and most spectacular creatures.
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite launches exclusively for PSP on 26th June.

As promised, GameTrailers premiered a new gameplay trailer for Modern Warfare 2, featuring firefights in front of a giant jet engine, a S.W.A.T. team deploying, and a guy in a parka (hooded guys are the new bald space marines!), along with a car explosion that would make the A-Team proud.
As exciting as this footage was, the ending reveals that it's just a taste of an "uncut and extended trailer" that will premiere on the game's website on May 24th. Which means that this trailer is an advertisement for a longer advertisement. We don't mind the tactic as long as the result is more gameplay footage in front of our faces.

US retailer GameStop is expecting price cuts for the PlayStation 3 and Wii in the third quarter of its financial year.
Speaking during a conference call to investors, CEO Daniel DeMatteo said that the company's forecast of 33.5 million hardware unit sales factors in price cuts on current hardware from Sony and Nintendo.
"That assumes that there will be price cuts on the PS3 and potentially one on the Wii," offered DeMatteo, although he admitted that "it’s hard to tell if we actually need a price cut on the Wii to get to our numbers. There are some price cuts built into that assumption, but not until the third quarter."
DeMatteo said the price of hardware was too high in the current economic market, and format-holders will need to reduce the RRP of consoles in order to meet their current sales forecasts.
"The hardware price points, given this economic environment are potentially too high, and if the platform holders are going to make the numbers that they forecasted for the year, those prices would have to change.
"Also, if you think about it, these hardware prices have stayed up longer in this cycle than in any other time before, and in a very dire economic environment, those two things seem to be mutually exclusive.
"Put all those things together, I think that there will have to be price cuts in order to get the hardware moving to where it needs to be," he added.
During the same call, David Carlson, CFO for the retailer also pinned dates on some upcoming release, suggesting Take-Two's BioShock 2 and Namco's Tekken 6 will be released in October, and Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed will be in stores for November.

Cute Sharp, real cute. Brag about releasing the world's first 20-inch LCD HDTV with a built-in Blu-ray player, but don't even mention to consumers that they won't have the luxury of seeing their flicks in full resolution. For reasons unknown, the latest set in the AQUOS DX range does indeed pack a remarkably convenient integrated BD player, but the 1,366 x 768 resolution makes the whole thing sort of pointless. As Liz Lemon would say: "That's a deal-breaker, ladies." At any rate, folks who snap one up in Japan will also find a digital TV tuner, DVD support, a 1,500:1 contrast ratio and 450 nits of brightness. It'll be available in black (LC-20DX1-B) and white (LC-20DX1-W) for ¥150,000 ($1,593) at the tail end of next month in the Land of the Rising Sun.

There's plenty of content for you to grab from the US store today, including four demos, two PS1 games and the usual lot of DLC. inFamous and the LittleBigPlanet Monsters pack should probably be at the top of your shopping list this week. If you're a PSP fan, you can take advantage of the just-released Monster Hunter Freedom Unite demo, too.

The PlayStation 3's Blu-ray drive has its advantages, as proven by the Watchmen: The End is Nigh The Complete Experience, a two-disc set collecting the game and the film for the PlayStation 3.
While the Xbox 360 is getting Watchmen: The End is Nigh Parts 1 and 2 as a standalone retail release, the PlayStation 3 is getting a much more enticing release. The two-disc set combines the director's cut of the Watchmen film with both parts of the downloadable game, with exclusive artwork thrown in for good measure. The director's cut of the movie contains 25 minutes of footage not seen in theaters, but still no giant squid.
The releases will coincide with standard DVD release on July 21st, with The End is Nigh Part 2 also available as a standalone download on Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network.
