Liquidzigong with an EBOOT that’ll permanently patch 6.20 TN-D into flash memory, meaning with each and every boot you’ll automatically be homebrew enabled. Now that’s cool. It no doubt works on PSP-1000 models, I’ve read success reports on PSP-3000, in fact there is a video below, PSP-2000′s I have no idea, and PSPgo users … you’re SOL for sure. Maybe next time.

Sheesh. First the Xperia Play is obtained by the press even before its official announcement, and now the first units to reach the North American public, given away to developers at a GDC panel and raffles last week, are ... wait for it ... being sold on eBay.
That's right -- even weeks before the actual launch, you can't give these things away for free. eBay seller "mejones73-1" doesn't hide the fact that he's one of the developers who won a free phone (and neither does this guy), though the Sony writeup says that a winner named "Mike Jones" just happens to work across the street from their office in Redwood City, CA. Jones might want to be careful in the parking lot this week -- even if he plans to buy another phone with the $730 and rising that his auction is earning, Sony can't be too happy about this one.
[Thanks, Benny!]

A legal tussle between Sony and electronics manufacturer LG over alleged copyright infringements has gathered pace, with a key courtroom showdown scheduled to take place in Holland tomorrow.
According to court documents dug up by the FOSS Patents blog, Sony is appealing against a court order granted to LG allowing it to seize any PlayStation 3 units stored in the Dutch city of Tilburg. Reports last week claim this could add up to tens of thousands of consoles.
It's a crucial battle for Sony to win. Not only will the seizures have a huge impact on European sales, but if LG's requests are ratified it could open the floodgates for injunctions elsewhere in Europe and further afield.
As reported last month, the dispute centres around LG's claim that Sony has infringed its use of Blu-ray technology. Should LG's suit be successful, Sony could be forced to pay compensation for every single PS3 it has sold worldwide. Which would be expensive.
The new court documents published by FOSS shed a little more light on LG's complaints. Apparently the two parties held talks last year about awarding each other licences for a wide-ranging array of technology.
However, LG only wanted to offer a licence to cover Blu-ray technology whereas Sony wanted a more inclusive deal.
According to LG, the discussions failed, prompting Sony to launch legal action in the US. LG then counter-attacked in Europe, bringing us to the ugly showdown due to play out in The Hague tomorrow.

PS3 Online Storage for game saves arrives tomorrow as part of firmware update 3.60, Sony has announced.
But only PlayStation Plus subscribers can use it.
PS+ subs get 150MB of space to upload and dump saved game files to (to a maximum of 1000). The average game save is 1-2MB. These are then accessible from any PS3 with a net connection.
Uploading to the cloud, to give it a fancier name, requires pressing triangle on the chosen save file, selecting "copy" and the destination as "online storage". When on another PS3, sign into your PSN account, go to Saved Data Utility and hey presto, there's your saved game file.
Save files from games with copy protection can still be cloned and uploaded, but are unavailable to download elsewhere for 24 hours.
If your PlayStation Plus subscription lapses your Online Storage files will be inaccessible until you renew. Save files are kept for six months before deletion, however, allowing plenty of leeway.
A PlayStation Plus subscription costs £39.99/€49.99 for a year or £11.99/€14.99 for 90 days.

PS3 exclusive White Knight Chronicles II has been announced on the European PlayStation blog - it's coming to Europe. Unfortunately there's no indication of when.
Instead we're given a summary of the game's most eye-catching features: a 30-hour RPG storyline, redesigned combat that's deeply customisable and online co-op for six people - either questing, free roaming or building a dynamic town. Voice and keyboard chat compliments the latter.
White Knight Chronicles II was released for Japan last summer, where it picked up 33/40 from publisher-funded magazine Famitsu. Wikipedia mentions a bizarre feature whereby developer Level-5 demands you finish White Knight Chronicles 1 before you can play WKC2. Odd - we'll investigate.
Eurogamer awarded the Western, International Edition of White Knight Chronicles 7/10.
White Knight Chronicles is also heading to PSP, courtesy of a Matrix Corp.-developed game subtitled Origins. Events here take place a mere 10,000 years before WKC1. There's a 30-hour story to unravel, co-op for four and you can trade quests and avatars with friends.

The PlayStation Store has been refreshed but will be taken down for maintenance at 4.05pm UK time today.
It won't be up and running again until 3am tomorrow morning.
Nevertheless, those fast enough have access to a single-player MotorStorm Apocalypse demo.Eurogamer's MotorStorm Apocalypse review was published this morning, the racing game scoring 8/10. "It works because it's not subtle. Not much about Apocalypse is, from the crushing orchestral dubstep soundtrack, through the astounding visual assault of bounding cars, flying masonry, landslides, dust clouds, twisters and moody, filtered light, to its sheer breakneck speed," judged Oli Welsh.
There's a demo of Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 as well as free trials of Explodemon! and Telltale's Back to the Future episode series.

Forget Helghast invasions and space ship battles for one moment. Home's going soft on us this week with the altogether more cutesy addition of kittens.
Coming (coincidentally?) two weeks before Nintendo is set to release the first true successor to Nintendogs - with added cats - the Lockwood Store in Home has introduced kittens for the various space marines and running-man dancers to buy for their home space.
There are three breeds; a "rough and tumble tabby", a "relaxed ginger kitty", or a "scene-stealing Siamese". Unfortunately there's no 'kick' button.
Also in Lockwood you'll find some new futuristic clothes to celebrate the upcoming sci-fi racer Sodium2: Project Velocity, and some old-school 'ganster' clothes that make you look like a cliché member of the Italian mafia.
Sony announced earlier this month plans to release a new vastly upgraded Home update, bringing the client up to version 1.50 and adding new functionality for real-time multiplayer, enhanced visuals and better physics for more advanced games.

March 9th, 2011, 23:39 Posted By: wraggster
Staff across Sony’s UK studios are anxiously waiting to see if they will be spared from a restructuring process now underway.
Sony Liverpool, Sony London, and Evolution Studios will each be affected by the reorganisation, Sony has confirmed.
Unannounced projects will be “streamlined or cut”, the firm said, though added that Guildford-based Media Molecule will not be affected.
"It has been decided that production on a small number of projects within London Studio, Studio Liverpool, and Evolution Studios will be streamlined or closed due to a portfolio review and project prioritisation,” read a Sony statement issued to Develop.
This afternoon, meetings were held at a number of Sony sites to warn staff of redundancies as the group reorganises its output, a source close to the matter told Develop.
It is not known how many staff will lose their jobs. Sony has declined to comment when asked on this specific matter.
The PlayStation owner said it is cutting projects because “resource should be reallocated to enhance projects closer to completion”.
“The affected first party studios have been, and will continue to be, vital assets within the WWS family, and have a history of producing genre-defining games such as MotorStorm, WipEout, SingStar and EyePet,” he firm added.
“This decision will have no impact on the role that our first party studios will play in the future of all PlayStation platforms."

Just a little sticky note to inform you guys of whats going on at the moment.
VF is doing a great job fixing several bugs reported to us so far, also the requested Fake-Regions Debug Type I and Debug Type II have been added by him.
While VF does a great job working on the offline related features, I’ve started development of the PRO-C Online Mode feature.
So far things are moving nicely.
Greetings, CB.

What with its iOS title Infinity Blade still sitting in the App Store top ten three months after release, you might imagine that Epic Games is putting its money on smartphones and tablets as the future of handheld gaming.
Well, judging by a five minute long sermon handed down to Eurogamer by Epic vice president Mark Rein, that isn't the case. On the contrary, he argued - the next generation of dedicated gaming handhelds, specifically Sony's NGP, looks more promising than ever.
"It's a ridiculously compelling experience," he insisted backstage at the Game Developer's Conference last week.
"When you get your hands round that device and you see some of the things that are going to ship on it, you'll go 'Want. Want, want, want.'"
Rein went on to single out the twin analogue sticks as the NGP's primary selling point, pinning it as the first handheld to provide a true console experience on a handheld device.
"I love console game experiences. I love, love, love playing Gears of War, Call of Duty, Borderlands – I just love those kinds of games. And you really need the Dualshock type controls to do it effectively," he explained.
"The NGP delivers it in spades. You really do want to play those kinds of games on it for sustained periods of time. Sat down on your couch, or in a hotel room, or somewhere you don't have a big TV. It's a fantastic experience."
Initial industry reaction to Sony's new handheld might have been a little muted, with analysts concerned that the high-spec machine wouldn't crossover to the mass market. Rein disagreed, insisting Sony has a winner on its hands no matter what the asking price.
"Tell me, if they put Call of Duty on there – which they say they are - and World of Warcraft, don't you think it would sell like frickin' crazy? Of course it would.
"That's the thing that people are discounting. People happily pay $300 for each games console that comes out. I'd happily plonk down $300 for an Xbox 360, or $300 for a PS3, or $500 for a frickin' iPad. If you're a gamer, a lot of the time you're willing to put that kind of investment into the experience.
"Who would have thought iPad could survive?" he continued. "Everybody poo-pooed the idea of iPad and they've sold over 15 million of them. It's an indispensable part of your life now.
"The ability to have another device that can now play these kinds of [console] games really well – I'm using my thumbs here - is huge. Yeah, I'm going to buy one. All I can ever do is speculate on what I think. That's the trap people get caught in, saying 'Well, I'd like one, but nobody else is going to buy one.' No – you need to stop that sentence at 'I'd like one.'"
We'll have to wait a while to see if he's right. The NGP isn't launching until late 2011 at the earliest.

The PlayStation Store had some noteworthy releases in February: Explodemon, Stacking,Bionic Commando Rearmed 2. But none of these new releases managed to chart in PSN's monthly sales numbers. Instead, you'll see some familiar names on the top 5 list, includingAngry Birds, which continues its second month of bestselling sales.
- Angry Birds
- Plants vs. Zombies
- Tetris
- Pac-Man Championship Edition DX
- Mortal Kombat II
In addition to Angry Birds, the appearance of a PopCap game, a Tetris game, and a Pac-Man game tell us that casual games are key to making your way to the top of the PlayStation Network.

The PlayStation Network will go offline for just over 11 hours from this Wednesday, March 9 at 4:05pm GMT for "scheduled maintenance", Sony has confirmed.
The twist is you will still be able to play online during that time ONLY if you log into PSN via your PS3 before the scheduled downtime begins.
During the downtime, which ends at on Thursday, March 10 at 3am GMT, you won't be able to use the PS Store via PS3 or PSP, log in to PlayStation Account Management or register a PSN account.
But Sony says: "If you wish to play online during the maintenance, please ensure you sign in to PSN before 16:05 on Wednesday 9 March 2011."
It adds: "During this maintenance, you can continue to collect in-game trophies and these will be updated on your profile once PlayStation Network is back up and running."
So far, this has only been announced on the EU PS Blog so it would seem the US PSN will go unaffected.

Forthcoming PSP RPG Persona 3 Portable is getting a handsome Collector's Edition when it launches next month, publisher Ghostlight has announced.
According to its official site, you'll get the following extras:
- 48-page hardback art book.
- Six limited-edition art cards.
- A3 poster.
- Special reversible Collector's Edition inlay.
- Exclusive slipcase featuring additional artwork.
On top of all of that, if you pre-order through the game's website, which goes live later this week, you'll snag an exclusive T-shirt too.
The Atlus-developed sequel, which launched in Japan way back in November 2009, arrives on these shores "sometime in mid-to-late April".
It should be worth the wait. The handheld remake of the 2006 PlayStation 2 timesink scored 9/10 when Eurogamer's Chris Schilling got hold of a US import last year.
"Just about the definitive version of one of the finest role-players of the last five years," our man insisted.

PlayStation Network revenues for Sony jumped 70 per cent last year, the PS3-maker has claimed, following a 60 per cent boost in traffic to its PlayStation Store.
SCEA digital distribution manager Pierre Gravereau revealed the numbers at a GDC talk (attended by Joystiq) last week, and also claimed that PSN now enjoys 70 million accounts.
This figure spans the 47.9 million PS3s and 66 million PSPs sold to date. Unlike Xbox Live (which has 30 million known accounts), full PSN access is free and some users have created multiple accounts.
Grarvereau went on the claim that some 80 per cent of the total PS3 install base is online in some form.
Susan Panico, head of PSN in the US, also revealed (in a talk attended by VentureBeat) that the online service now boasts 948 games, 4,000 pieces of add-on content and 31,000 movies and TV shows. The PSN video store apparently saw a 80 per cent revenue boost during 2010.

A US court has granted a subpoena to Sony in its legal battle against PlayStation 3 hacker George Hotz, allowing the firm to view visitor logs to his site as it attempts to examine the reach of the jailbreak.
Reports Wired, hosting services Google and Bluehost have been ordered to release "all server logs, IP address logs, account information, account access records and application or registration forms" for Hotz' sites.
The order covers logs from January 2009 to the present date, and forms part of Sony's attempt to demonstrate that the case should be tried in its preferred locale of California, despite Hotz himself being based in New Jersey.
With the logs' help, it now seeks to prove that a relevant number of those potentially accessing the hack were based in California.
Also covered by the subpoena are YouTube and Twitter, with the former required to provide "all records or usernames and IP addresses that have posted or published comments" made in response to the video that demonstrated Hotz' jailbreaking of the PS3.
Twitter, meanwhile, must offer up "documents sufficient to identify all names, addresses, and telephone numbers associated with [Hotz's] Twitter account".
