PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale players will be able to play as two new characters with a download pack released this week. Available today in UK and tomorrow, Wednesday March 20 in UK, the new character pack adds Zeus (God of War) and Isaac Clarke (Dead Space) to the playable roster of fighters. The update also brings 'Graveyard', a new background stage based on elements from MediEvil and The Unfinished Swan.Detailing Zeus' fighting traits, lead game designer Seth Killian says, "Zeus plays as a legendary heavyweight, making each strike feel epic. He's got limited range, but with the ability to power up every attack merely by holding down the button, he can crush a cowardly opponent's guard and build AP faster than anyone. Many of his triangle lightning attacks are also excellent at catching multiple opponents for an even faster ride towards his truly Olympian level 3 super."And on Isaac, Killian adds, "Isaac Clarke is at his best harassing opponents from mid-range, with a wide variety of projectiles powered up by his unique Stasis and Kinesis powers. He's no slouch at close range either, with some mighty melee attacks and the short-range force gun, but he shines brightest harassing more distant opponents with the grenade launcher, bouncing bola, and his Plasma Cutter."Today's update also brings new balance tweaks which, according to Killian, "modifies every existing character in some way (and fixes some pesky glitches), as well as adding some new bells and whistles to familiar items".Zeus and Isaac Clarke will cost $4.99/€4.99 each, but are free to anyone who purchased a copy of God of War: Ascension and redeems their Network Pass code (offer available for 30 days only). The Graveyard stage will be playable free in online ranked matches, and will cost $1.99/€1.99 to own it for offline play.

The world of Harry Potter is coming to Sony's virtual domain PlayStation Home next month.
Sony has announced a new Potter-themed area will be added to the online community based around JK Rowling's Pottermore site, according to the PlayStation blog.
Pottermore is a website that allows The Boy Who Lived's fans to explore the fiction of the books further, as well as play games and interact with their friends. It was launched as part of a deal between J.K. Rowling and Sony.
In PlayStation Home's Pottermore area, PS3 owners will be able to explore Diagon Alley and ride the Hogwarts Express, kitting out their avatars with Hogwarts uniforms and other Potter-themed items.
There will be a selection of mini-games such as Book Herding and Wizard's Duels, as well as a Pottermore quiz. Users will even be able to link their PlayStation Home and Pottermore accounts and swap virtual trading cards.

PlayStation Vita will soon get a downloadable version of steampunk point-and-click adventure Machinarium.
The acclaimed indie game will be available from March 26th in the US for just $6.99 (roughly £5), according toEurogamer. There's no word on a UK date.
Machinarium is a point-and-click adventure in which players help a young robot save his town from destruction. There is no dialogue and all puzzle hints are conveyed through diagrams in speech bubbles.
The game is already available on the PS3, but there is no Cross Buy support so PS3 owners will have to purchase the Vita version separately.
Machinarium on Vita is expected to include all the improvements made on PS3, such as the ability to zoom in on in-game environments and objects.
It will also include PSN leaderboards to compare speedrun times and mini-game scores.

Japanese magazine Shonen Jump has seemingly confirmed a nice extra for those planning to buy the HD remake of Final Fantasy X on PS3.
The game will include not only Final Fantasy X but also Final Fantasy X-2 on the same disk.
Gematsu reports that while that strategy will be pursued on PS3, on Vita the games are to be released separately.
Final Fantasy X was first released way back in 2001 and was the first FF game to debut on Sony’s PS2 console. That’s not the only reason it was notable, however – it was also the first in the series to be fully 3D rendered and feature voice acting.
Square Enix then on 2003 for the first time released a direct sequel to a Final Fantasy game in the form of Final Fantasy X-2. It was the first FF game to feature a female-only playable cast.
Final Fantasy X HD has yet to be given a release date.

PCSX2 SVN r5594 is compiled. PCSX2 is an open source PlayStation 2 (PS2) emulator for the Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems. With the most recent versions, many PS2 games are playable (although speed limitations have made play-to-completion tests for many games impractical), and several games are claimed to have full functionality.
PCSX2 SVN Changelog:
r5594
microVU: T/D Bit cleanup, slightly better code, makes much more sense to how the PS2 does it. Fixed ICO's graphics.

Jpcsp SVN r3062 is compiled. JPCSP is the most advanced PlayStation Portable(PSP) emulator, allowing you to play your PSP games on a PC. Even though Jpcsp is written in Java, it can already reach 100% PSP speed on a lot of commercial games... and the emulator performance is constantly increasing. Jpcsp takes full advantage of dual-core processors, matching the PSP dual-core architecture. Even a quad-core can give a small performance improvement by leaving free CPU cores for the Java JIT Compiler and the graphics cache.
Jpcsp SVN changelog:
r3062
New java native code sequence from profiler information.
---------------------
r3061
Implemented scePsmfPlayerSetOffset: automatically detect the PSMF header and extract the stream size.
---------------------
r3060
Fixed reading of compressed textures (DXT) in the software renderer when the bufferWidth is smaller than the texture width.
---------------------
r3059
Code clean-up for the depth handling in the VideoEngine.
---------------------
r3058
Improve r2998: restrict the change to the game "Kamen Rider Climax Heroes OOO - ULJS00331". The change was breaking "Tales of The World: Radiant Mythology 3 - NPJH50353". It is still unknown why ULJS00331 is receiving such a return value......
---------------------
r3057
PGD decryption: return error code when PGD header is incorrect (probably a wrong key has been used by the application).
---------------------
r3056
Improved performance of code invalidation (for applications modifying dynamically their code).

Sony's Rain stars a young boy trapped in an invisible world brought to life only by the rain – when it pours, the boy, a young girl and all manner of strange creatures are made visible, gallivanting around our own world. Six new images, separated into dry and wet pairs, demonstrate the breadth of emotion and action Rain hopes to achieve.
The first set of images come with the tagline, "Sometimes rain reflects loneliness." The second reads, "Sometimes rain brings melancholy," and the third pair says, "Sometimes rain soaks through the heart." We'd like to add that rain also helps flowers grow.

Compile Heart's weird Neptunia series of RPGs starring game consoles that happen to also be young anime girls, is branching off from its PS3 home to Vita.Hyperdimension Idol Neptune PP is even weirder than its base material, as it takes the setting of "Gamindustri" and puts an idol simulation in it. As producer, you put together a team of four CPUs (game console girls), build up their stats in an adventure mode, and train them as a performing group.
Announced over the weekend, Hyper Goddess Faith Noire: Extreme God Black Heart, a spinoff starring the PS3-inspired Noire character, as she appears inHyperdimension Neptunia Victory. At the same Dengeki magazine event, Compile Heart teased a game called Neptunia "Re;Birth 1" for Vita. No information was provided, but that sounds like it could be a portable release of the original game.

In a new Mail Sack blog post, developer Bungie has responded to concerns about its always-on requirement for Destiny, the studio's upcoming multi-platform shooter. The developer says it's not worried about a SimCity-style server outage for Destiny when "the massive onslaught of players" arrive on launch day because it's dealt with high-demand in the past.
"This isn't our first rodeo," the post reads. "Bungie is no stranger to anxious mobs of players who rush home after a midnight launch and put our best-laid plans to the test." Bungie says it plans to "focus on some less frightening but equally important challenges" for now, worrying about release day problems at a later time.
Elsewhere in the Sack, there's also a question about whether or not the alien races will be playable in the game, and Bungie mysteriously teases that it's "barely scratched the surface on the character and customization options." When graphic designer John Stvan is asked to tell a tale about playing the game, he says he once "loaded a build, shot a gun, killed a dude." Sounds riveting!

Quell Memento, the zen puzzle game from the makers of Quell, launches on PS Vita in April.Quell Memento is made by Fallen Tree Games, the Nottingham-based studio formed by two former Free Radical Design and Crytek developers, Joe Moulding and Lewis Boadle. It follows Quell and Quell Reflect, for iOS and Android."Due to our industry day jobs, we relied largely on word-of-mouth to build a community around these puzzle games," Boadle told Eurogamer."Fortunately, they have both been very well received by players, so finally last year we decided to take the plunge and go full-time!"Set within an old abandoned house, Quell Memento is a logic-based puzzle game with a simple sliding droplet mechanic. The player restores order to jumbled memories and in doing so discovers game-play variations.

Two more websites attempting to scam consumers with promises of access to a fake GTA V beta are being targeted by Take-Two.
Fusible reports that the publisher has already taken action against and successfully shut down both getgtavbeta.com and betagtav.com. Now two other sites are also being targeted – gta5betacode.com and grandtheftauto5beta.com.
The complaints are being handled by the World Intellectual Property Organization.
All of these bogus sites work by tricking users into downloading a file onto their computer.
Rockstar has not announced a beta for the game and, if past history is anything to go by, is unlikely to. Grand Theft Auto V will be released on September 17th.

Silicon Studio joins wave of middleware firms offering tech for PS4 development
Post-processing effects middleware Yebis 2 is the latest tool suite to be available for PS4 developers.
Created by Silicon Studio, the real-time post-processing tech features multi-colour customisable glare effects, depth of field effects allowing developers to apply bokeh effects “as realistic as photographing with a real lens” and motion blur.
The tech also supports Direct X 11 and allows for real-time colour adjustment of rendering effects.
Yebis 2 has been used by Square Enix in its Agni’s Philosophy demo showcasing the publisher’s Luminous engine, as well as by other companies such as Tecmo Koei, From Software and Idea Factory.
“We are very excited to bring Yebis 2, and the rest of our software, to Western developers,” said Silicon Studio CEO Takehiko Terada.

EA has announced that it will lift the lid on the newest addition to the Battlefield franchise later this month during a dedicated reveal event.
The publisher announced its plans at this year's GDC held in San Francisco, teasing the announcement and confirming that it will indeed host the first reveal of Battlefield 4.
Meanwhile, official artwork for the title has made its way online and indicates that Battlefield 4 will again be staged within a modern setting, much like the franchise's previous entry. Whilst unsurprising, it may serve as a disappointment for core fans of the franchise, as the original Battlefield was staged during the Second World War, with a follow up unfolding in the Vietnam War.
The artwork offers multiple similarities to the titles predecessor, Battlefield 3, which would indicate the new title will closely its former given its commercial success. Given the appearance of vehicles in the image, it would also seem likely that the new title will again boast a wide range military vehicles that players are able to control.
Whilst the new image would indicate that the new game will be a direct follow-on of the previous Battlefield's events, we'll know for sure come March 26th.
