The sequel to Xyanide on the Xbox, this newly-handheld shooter should sate those hungry for reaction-testing blaster mayhem. Throwing a touch of Star Fox into the mix, the 3D levels see you flying around eliminating waves of enemies, and upgrading your ship in the interim – it’s not exactly surprising stuff, but it’s very pretty and certainly frantic. There’s no UK release date confirmed yet, but we’re excited to take the game for a test flight.

We've already brought you an in-depth preview for Vanguard (on PS2 and Wii), but we're not stopping the blitzkrieg just yet. No, today we have an all-new trailer for the upcoming shooter that shows why you might care about a last-gen version of this well-oiled franchise. How does getting blasted out of a plane high above the European battlefield sound? Pretty cool, provided you have a parachute strapped to your back at all times (and as a paratrooper, you do).
Hit the movies tab and start up the "MoH Vanguard trailer - 26 Jan 2007" video for visual evidence that Vanguard may end up being the WWII swan song for the latter-day consoles.

Heavenly Sword developer Ninja Theory is generally pleased with the PlayStation 3 but admits it can be "an interesting ride" to develop for.
"The PS3 hardware is a bit like a journey into the Marianas trench," said Mike Ball, co-founder of Ninja Theory, speaking to Eurogamer. "There's lots to explore and the deeper you get the more varied the life forms - sometimes horrific, sometimes beautiful."
He added: "Personally I really love the SPUs as they have exceeded our performance expectations and we've got a lot of them to play with."
The comments come after Wednesday night's announcement that the PS3 will launch across Europe on 23rd March at a GBP 425 price-point. Something we hope you know by now.
NDAs have stopped most first party developers talking about the console, but Ball remains excited and optimistic about the future.
"Currently the machine offers a massive leap in gaming and multimedia performance. However, this is only the start of what will undoubtedly be an amazing evolution over the next few years as developers become more and more familiar with the hardware," he said.
Heavenly Sword is a third-person action title for PS3, which combines gorgeous set-pieces with hearty head-chopping sword-play. Sadly it's not confirmed as a European launch title for the console, but is expected in the first half of 2007.
"In summary, PS3 exploration is an interesting ride for developers and that can only result in amazing games for players," Ball concluded.
Have a gander at what we thought when we saw the game at TGS last year, or high-kick your way to Eurogamer TV for the TGS trailer.

With the recent release of Popstation everyone is trying to squeeze the best out of their Memory Cards, heres the options available to you
1) 4GB Sandisk Memory Stick Pro Duo
4GB Sandisk Memory Stick Pro Duo, Retailing at $116 and is the easiest option to have big files on your PSP, but is it the cheapest.
2) SD Card Adapter / 4GB SD Card Combo
]
Play Asia sell both the SD Card Adapter and 4GB SD Memory Card, the price for both works out to be $125 but at least you can use the SD Card on other systems.
3) 4GB Hard Drive
Datels 4GB Hard Drive is the cheapest weighing in at $108 but also sticks out the most on the back. You also get a Double Strength Battery.
4) PSP Bank with 40GB Hard Drive
This option works with the other options and not really on its own, the idea is a great one, 40 GBs of space but the 3 above are the best in my opinion
So there you go 3 good options and one curious option, What option interests you the most ?

Some very interesting news from Fanjita:
You remember that the only thing holding us back from a downgrader for v3.03 was the lack of a user-mode exploit?
Well, we don't like to be held back from anything, so we went back to basics and looked over some of the old exploits. And what do you know? We found one!
We did a little digging into the old GTA exploit, and discovered that it hadn't been properly patched after all. We'll leave it as an exercise for the interested reader to figure out exactly how we got past the patch (and to give Sony a little while longer before the head-slapping "Doh!" moment ).
But the short version is that we can now run code again via Grand Theft Auto : Liberty City Stories. You want some proof? Check out the Goofy Hello World download below.
Some details on how to use it:
You need an original, unpatched GTA:LCS game. See here and here for tips on how to check your version, although it can be confusing. The new copies that you find in the shops now will not work.
This only works for Liberty City Stories, not Vice City Stories.
Extract the files from the ZIP into the /PSP/SAVEDATA folder on your memory stick.
Start the GTA game, and enjoy the feeling of freshly-minted homebrew
And what of the future? Well, we should have a 3.03 downgrader ready within the week, using this exploit. Watch this space!

The officer and his colleague were so engrossed in their PSP footie game they did not notice when a passer-by took this photo.
PC on his PSP ... cop playing footie game
They were supposed to be guarding a wall in danger of collapsing in Chingford, East London, during last week’s gales.
Thirteen people were killed by storms nationwide — including a two-year-old crushed by a falling wall in North London.
A builder took the snap of the cops. He said: “They were oblivious to everything else.”
The Metropolitan Police said: “The use of the games console was inappropriate and unprofessional. Senior officers are dealing with the matter.”

Who's on the PS3's side, who? Lots. Historically speaking, brand PlayStation has had the best third-party support over any other platform. That's what happens when your first two consoles sell bajillions. A higher install base means more sales of games and a better chance for game developers to make money. So given such strong support for PlayStation systems in general, it's no surprise that EA and others were/are heavy backers of the PS3 from the start.
But according to Bank of America, soft PS3 sales not only spell trouble for Sony but for the many third-party publishers supporting the platform, namely EA. Based on recent channel checks at 50 stores, 78% had PS3s in stock. Hence, "disappointing PS3 hardware sales are an incremental negative for all the game publishers." So much, in fact, that 2007 publisher stocks could take a substantial dive this year as 21% of their total expected revenues were pinned on the PS3.
As you can imagine, continued blame for the low demand was placed on the PS3's price point and and "lack of compelling software titles." The take-away: unless PS3 demand increases in lieu of early mishaps, publishers could also be left in the cold. Maybe more than just gamers are rooting for early price cuts now. The pressure's on.

Some PlayStation 3 users who play on Westinghouse 1080p screens might have noticed a blinking problem when loading up their games, wherein no sound comes up and the screen's imagery blinks off and on. Popular Mechanics has been following the story and trying to deduce the culprit of this problem.
The blinking phenomenon stems from High-Bandwidth Digital Copy Protection, or HDCP, a form of DRM for signals that run through HDMI cables. Initially, Westinghouse VP of Marketing Rey Roque explained that the issue was firmware within some of their television sets but has now retracted that assertion, placing the blinking blame on the PlayStation 3 itself. Roque notes, "Westinghouse products are fully compliant with the HDMI and HDCP specs."
Westinghouse and Sony reportedly met yesterday to discuss the issue, but Popular Mechanics went ahead and offered a quick-and-dirty fix to the problem: simply unplug HDMI cable, wait a few seconds, and plug it back in. Video of the phenomenon and its quick fix is embedded after the break.

If you were brave enough to journey all the way through the ultra-tough God mode in the excellent mythical massacre, God of War, then you truly deserve the respect of all Mount Olympus. But get ready for more pain, because according to God of War II director, Cory Barlog, things will be a whole world of harder in the sequel with the introduction of Titan mode.
"We still have four difficulty modes in the game (three available right away and one unlocked after beating the game), but we have really tweaked the higher difficulty levels... so much so that God mode no longer felt the 'hardest'. So now we have 'Titan' mode... and let me tell you it is freaking hard... doable of course... but hard," Barlog revealed on his blog.
Holy juice of Zeus! We shudder to think what an almighty challenge Kratos and his beautiful Blades of Chaos will have to endure to conquer Titan mode, but we have a sneaky feeling it's going to be brutal, savage and more than most mere mortals will be able to suffer.

Tetsuya Mizuguchi, the creator of the magic mushroom-friendly, cult classic shooter, Rez, has suggested that his next game will be uncovered in the near future and that it'll be another exercise in delightful synapse stimulation.
"I can't talk about details, but I'm ready to go with my next game, which will be bigger than [my other games] Lumines or Every Extend Extra," the Q Entertainment founder revealed. "I want to use my passion and energy again using the next-gen technology. I have many reasons to make a new experience, and it must be a new sensory experience using high-def technology. I can make some announcements soon."
To our ears it sounds like probably being the best game ever made already, but we'll be sure to keep our lug holes open for any new details on this mind-expanding trip in interactive hypnosis (at least that's what we're hoping for).
Talking about the rave influenced Rez, the synaesthesia-curious developer admitted to initially feeling disappointment when the game was released. "I'd put so much energy into it and it was not such a big success commercially," Mizuguchi told GameSpot. "But after five or six years, people are still talking about it and it's a really happy thing." Aww, we love a happy ending.

PlayStation fans had a reason to celebrate today, with the PS3 finally getting a confirmed release date of March 23 in Europe and Australia. We spoke to Sony Computer Entertainment Australia and New Zealand managing director Michael Ephraim about why the 20GB model isn't being made available down under, whether local gamers can expect console shortages, and much more.
GameSpot AU: Why did Sony decide not to release the 20GB SKU of the PlayStation 3 in Australia and Europe?
Michael Ephraim: Basically, every retailer and business partner we discussed the SKUs with said that the 60GB SKU is the way to go. If you look at PS3 sales in the US, and if you look at the sales of our competitor's format, the lead SKU has sold disproportionately better--it makes up about 97 percent of all sales. We will look at the demand and the need for a 20GB SKU, but everything is telling us--including consumers talking to retailers via pre-orders--that everyone wants the top-end SKU because it has all the functionality.
We have listened to retailers and consumers, and honestly, hands-down around the world the message was to go single SKU now. Of course, this also simplifies our manufacturing--we can focus on only one SKU and then assess the marketplace from there.
GSAU: So you don't expect to lose too many sales from people who had their hearts set on the 20GB model?
ME: I really don't think so. The difference in Australia is about A$170 (between the two SKUs). The 60GB model is the PS3 in full flight, and if you're going to invest that type of money, the benefits for another A$170 are clearly there. But we will listen to what the demand is.
GSAU: If there is a demand, is there a possibility that the 20GB model will reach Australia sometime in 2007?
ME: We will look at all information and assess it. Within 2007 is not a problem--we just have to make sure there's a demand for it.
GSAU: Sony has stated that there are 1 million PS3s being made available for the PAL release. Can you tell us which countries those consoles will be going to?
ME: I'm not allowed to go through that now, not until we finalise a few things. But I can say that Australia is a very important market for Europe. Historically, we can do anywhere from 5 to 7 percent of the business of Europe. That is a cumulative number over the years. So we are significant--we're not a 1 percent market. Australia has always been given its right level of allocation and share of allocation of new releases. We always launch at the same time as Europe as well, so that indicates that we're an important territory. We will get our fair share.
GSAU: So you don't foresee any shortages come March 23?
ME: That's the main question for every new format, and there is always a shortage for every new format. It's very important to get the day one number right, but we also want to plan with our retailers as much as we possibly can, to give them as much transparency as we can, when it comes to ongoing replenishments. There is the day one quantity--out of that million; Australia will get a fair share--but then we want to work with our retailers so consumers who don't get a console at launch will at least be informed as to when the next deliveries will come in. We will do the best we can to meet market demands.
GSAU: The PS3 is the last console to land in the Australian market. How does that affect your position in the next-generation console race?
ME: I'm not too concerned. By coincidence, our launch in Australia is the exact day that the Xbox 360 launched here a year ago. I think it is public knowledge that Microsoft and retailers are disappointed with the numbers the 360 has done here. GfK Australia puts the 360 at about 150,000 units install base--we're sitting on 2.2 million on PS2, so there's a long way to go. We do not see the one year head start as insurmountable by any means at all; 150,000 is a nice number, but it is by no means 2 million.
GSAU: Can you tell GameSpot AU how many PS3s you're expecting to sell in Australia this year?
ME: It's a bit early--we'd rather just work our way toward launch. It's very hard to pin down because this device goes beyond gaming. Convergence is upon us, so not only does what we do impact the sales of PS3, but also other issues, like the availability of high-definition screens and Blu-ray movies, can also affect us. It's a very dynamic market we're in, so it's hard to imagine what the exact quantities will be.
GSAU: Michael Ephraim, thanks for your time.

Ray Maguire, managing director of SCE UK, has told GamesIndustry.biz that retailers have been quick to welcome the European PS3 launch announcement.
"We have had an incredibly positive response from our partners in UK retail," Maguire said.
"There has been some great feedback on pre-order take up and the palpable anticipation from consumers."
As announced at midnight last night, the PlayStation 3 is set to launch in Europe on March 23, priced at GBP 425 / EUR 599. Sony plans to ship 1 million units for launch day, when more than 30 software titles will go on sale alongside the console.
"With the strongest and biggest launch line up of any console in the history of our business and a unprecedented stock allocation for the launch period, we look forward to sitting down with our trade partners in order to finalise our plans for a very solid UK launch," Maguire concluded.
