Joining the streaming entertainment options on the PlayStation 3 is Qello, a relatively new service that is best described as "Netflix, but for live concerts and films about music."
Available now, Qello offers a deep catalogue of artists, concerts and documentaries, though it lacks a few notable entries: The Band's The Last Waltz, Martin Scorsese's Rolling Stones documentary Shine A Light, and evenPurple Rain is absent. Still, the number of films on the service is massive, and you should be able to find content from any artist (assuming it isn't your best friend's struggling 2 Live Crew bluegrass cover band).
Like other major streaming services, Qello comes with a subscription fee. PlayStation users are being granted a free 15-day trial of Qello, but after that the service will set you back $5 each month, or $45 for an annual subscription. If you're unsure about plunking down money for Qello, we recommend visitingQello TV from your web browser. Though Qello TV doesn't allow viewers to choose what they want to see, the free, streaming concert footage it provides should offer a good idea of what Qello is offering PlayStation 3 users.
Qello will soon appear on Sony's Vita handheld as well as the PlayStation 4. There's no word on when these systems might add the concert flick service, though an announcement regarding the Vita iteration of Qello should appear by the end of the year.

After a generation stuck in last place, PlayStation UK has never been in a better place to reclaim the No.1 spot from rival Xbox.
MCV speaks to sales director Alex Coultate, marketing boss Murray Pannell and managing director Fergal Gara on the launch of PlayStation 4
Eight years ago, PlayStation was the biggest brand in games thanks to PS2. Fast-forward eight years and it limped in last place. What went wrong? How are you fixing that with PS4?
Fergal Gara, UK MD: The two fundamental points that were against PS3 was price and coming out late. With PS4, addressing both of those points were of the highest priority and they have been successfully addressed. To come out £75 below the PS3 launch price several years later with inflation and everything is a hell of an achievement. To make it to market at the right time from a competitive point of view is a huge start. That puts us in a dramatically stronger competitive position.
But I think you’re probably touching on manner and style. Certainly as the UK team, the way we go to market, we’re definitely making a huge effort to be partners with those we work with, to listen and to respond. It’s not all ‘my way or the highway’ – but it’s ‘let’s collaborate, be partners, find a way, solve problems, find solutions and be on the front foot dragging the business forward together, that’s the kind of attitude we aim to have.
David Wilson, Head of PR: There’s been a few departures from the norm. Normally we announce in Japan so announcing the PS4 in New York was pretty radical. With the West and development leading it rather than engineering with our Japanese organisation, that has given PS4 quite a different impetus and flavour.
The other thing I should note from my perspective is the huge depth of warmth for the brand. The PlayStation memories thing was amazingly revolutionary. There’s such warmth for the heritage and that’s been almost like another side to the equation.
Gara: There’s a definite sense that gamers are welcoming us back. Whether you look at the views on the ‘Since ‘95’ YouTube video, the spontaneous PlayStation Memories reaction or our pre-order data, there’s a real sense that we have found our focus and people believe we’re walking the talk.

An official list of PlayStation 4 error codes has been posted online, along with suggested ways of overcoming them.
While by no means comprehensive, Sony published the short list as a reference for the most "common errors" experienced on the new console.
Here's the full list:
CE-33179-3: Application is not found. Retry after the installation is completed. Installation of Add-Ons fails until the installation of application installation is complete.
CE-33991-5: Get the status of the non HTTP_GET_200 in Internet connection. Retry Internet Connection test.
CE-34788-0: This update file cannot be used. Connect a USB storage device that contains an update file for reinstallation for version 1.50 or later. Delete the Update file from the USB storage device, and replace it with the update for reinstallation found from this page.
CE-34878-0: Application has crashed. Restart the application in the content area.
NW-31484-0: DNS server not specified. Restart the PS4 system.
NW-31367-0: Could not open wireless device. Restart the PS4 system.
NW-31453-6: Delayed server response. Try Internet connection test at [Settings] > [Network] > [Test Internet Connection]. Check that the internet status is valid.
NW-31194-8: Connection was reset. Restart the PS4 system.
E-8200002E: The credit card information is not valid. Remove credit card from account, and then re-enter the credit card information. Refer to Add / Remove Billing Information. This comes after Sony offered guidance for those who have encountered the PS4's 'blinking blue light' error state, which the firm said points to a number of possible faults including TV compatibility, issues with the PS4 power supply, a fault with the console's hard drive or 'other PS4 hardware'.
Fixes include upgrading the TV's firmware, disconnecting the PS4 power cord from the electrical outlet following a hard shutdown, and identifying any problems with the ports and cords including damage or wear.
PS4 launches in Europe and Australia on November 29.

Killzone Mercenary players will be treated to a number of updates in the coming months, including free new multiplayer maps.
Guerrilla Cambridge will release title Update 3 "in the next few weeks". While only bringing "minimal changes" to gameplay, the patch will more crucially greatly reduce the size of previous patches. This comes after a prior patch for the game weighed in at an alarming 1.2GB.
"After installing this patch it will free up around 800MB of space for those who have already installed Updates 1 & 2," explained the developer.
Update 4 will be released in January, and aims to "improve Matching and to help reduce join-game connectivity problems, as well as adding an auto team-rebalancing feature," said Guerrilla.
"Following that", says the developer, Update 5 will be released, containing two new multiplayer maps for free. The update will also introduce an offline Botzone for Mercenary and Guerrilla Warfare modes.
The developer goes on to promise "continued refinements and adding support for playing Killzone Mercenary on Vita TV" with Update 6, targeting a release "in the first few months of 2014".
We said in our Killzone Mercenary review, "Killzone Mercenary is a shining showcase of the Vita's power, but also a very short, by-the-numbers first-person shooter."

Ubisoft has confirmed that owners of the Vita version of Rayman Legends can now download the 28 'missing' Invasions levels as free DLC.
The Vita version of Rayman Legends was released on September 13, following earlier Wii U, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC arrivals. In our Rayman Legends review, we said the game is "an absolute joy to play", offering "essential platforming shenanigans" that are "best experienced on Wii U".
Vita owners were disappointed when it emerged that Rayman Legends on the portable was missing the 'Invasion' levels found in the console versions, despite an earlier statement from Ubisoft which promised the Vita port would include "all of the original Rayman Legends content, as well as five exclusive maps".
Ubisoft later clarified that it would bring the Vita version up to par with consoles via a free DLC update containing the missing levels.
Ubisoft communications manager Gary Steinman said the omission of the levels was "due to a longer development time than expected".

UPDATE #2: Battlefield 4's PS4 patch is now live, DICE has announced, and includes fixes for the game's single and multiplayer modes. As well as the usual crash-fixes and stability improvements, the following list of changes are included: - Fixed common crashes that could occur when changing weapons or maps
- Reduced the probability of a corrupted save file in the single player campaign
- Fixed a crash occurring when resuming the single player campaign
- Fixed a bug where accessing PlayStation Plus subscription resulted in a connection error
- Improved performance when shooting at destroyed Levolution objects
UPDATE: DICE has published an update on its work to improve the state of Battlefield 4 across multiple platforms. In a post on Battlelog today DICE said it hoped to get an update for the PS4 version out early next week."We are aware of the frequent crashes in Battlefield 4 on PlayStation 4. We are hard at work identifying these issues and are hoping to get a game update out early next week. Stay tuned for more details as we can confirm them, and thanks for your patience!"An update for the Xbox 360 version is undergoing final testing, DICE added. This will be set live soon. And a new update is in the works for the PC version "aimed at fixing a number of remaining issues in the game". There's no estimated time of delivery on that one, though.ORIGINAL STORY: The weekend just gone was a busy and troubling one for Swedish developer DICE as it fought against a number of Battlefield 4-related issues.First up, the PC version of the bombastic shooter was assaulted by a distributed denial-of-service attack (DDoS attack), DICE said, which resulted in the game being unplayable online for much of the weekend. On Saturday evening embattled producer Ali Hassoon - aka Striterax - took to the Battlelogforum to explain:"Hi guys, we are being targeted by a DDOS, but working on fixing it asap. I'm sorry somebody is ruining your and my day. Rest assured we are doing our best to mitigate the situation though."Then, following complaints about crashes and instability in the PlayStation 4 version of the game, which launched in North America on Friday alongside the console, DICE announced it would issue an emergency server."We are deploying a new server to the PlayStation 4 platform," Hassoon posted, again on the Battlelog forum, on Sunday, "you might be disconnected from your session as servers are restarting to apply the new patch. The server update addresses a very severe crash issue on the PS4."DICE's efforts over the weekend do not appear to have satisfied some angry Battlefield 4 players who are still suffering issues with online play. The Battlelog forum is packed with complaints, and some are now calling for PS4 players to be issued with free upgrades to Battlefield Premium by way of compensation.

Come November 26, the Vita-exclusive Soul Sacrifice joins the free games on offer to PlayStation Plus subscribers, and they won't even have to trade a limb for it.
For those who missed Soul Sacrifice, think of it as a game of choices. You play a prisoner turned sorcerer in a world where magic requires sacrifices. Some of these are largely benign, but there are the massively damaging spells that ask you to literally give up an arm in exchange for that kind of power. The game's difficulty level is slightly less intense than that seen in Dark Souls, but it still makes a very worthwhile contender for anyone looking for a game that will mercilessly punish mistakes - and unlike Dark Souls, since Soul Sacrifice is a Vita game, you can get your fix on the go.
As with all new PS Plus additions, the introduction of Soul Sacrifice means that something must be bumped off of the roster. In this case, the PS Plus Instant Game Collection is losing Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen. If you want to pick up Capcom's endearing attempt at a Western-style, open-world role-playing game, today marks your last chance to do so via PlayStation Plus.

Faced with an influx of living-room livestreamers and the risqué content that follows, Twitch has begun a crackdown on PlayStation 4 streams. The company has taken to its Twitter account to remind users that broadcasting via the console's Playroom feature, which uses Sony's PlayStation Eye camera to stream to Twitch and uStream, must have a gaming focus or risk having their account suspended. Most users, including the husband and wife team behind The Spartan Show, have kept within Twitch's terms of service, but others have decided the console provides the perfect platform to broadcast sexual content and host non-gaming shows. While Sony already offers the broadcasting service, Xbox One owners will have to wait until "early 2014" to stream their games -- either way, Twitch will have quite the job on its hands as gamers test the limits of their new all-seeing consoles.

Top independent chains have told MCV that PS4 is already ‘winning the war’ against Xbox One.
Games Centre’s MD Robert Lindsay says the platform holder has done the better job of winning over independent retailers with its level of support.
“Sony has definitely captured the hearts and minds of the independent sector,” said Lindsay. “We’ve had fantastic support from CentreSoft and Sony for the PS4 launch, which has helped make it our biggest launch ever.
Chips MD Don McCabe added: “They’re winning the war. Sony has the enthusiasm and they want to be No.1.”
McCabe says Sony’s hands-on approach has led his PS4 orders to top demand for Xbox One five to one.
SCE sales director Alex Coultate says indies are crucial for PlayStation.
“They’re really important to us,” he said. “We view the specialist sector as GAME and independents. There’s just a huge amount of focus on them.”

Published here online for the first time, this interview with Sony’s then-communications director Phil Harrison took place at Sony PlayStation’s UK launch, in late 1995. It was published in Edge issue 26, and throws up some fascinating insights into what Sony wanted to achieve with the PlayStation project – and, prior to PS4′s European launch later this week, there are some surprising parallels between the game market of 1995 and today. — Phil Harrison has witnessed the PlayStation’s evolution since the very beginning. Having joined Sony in 1993 as product development director, he immediately went underground to start the console’s European development and support group, working closely with the Tokyo R&D team, which was completing the hardware and OS design. One of his key objectives was to spread the PlayStation message to the development community in Europe, as well as to hire talented technical support staff and software engineers (to whom Harrison refers as the ‘unsung heroes’ of the European division). Now, as communications director, he is heavily involved with the European marketing strategy for the machine. Edge spoke to him at SCEE’s London HQ.In personal terms, what has been the most rewarding part of the PlayStation’s journey to market?Simply that the reality of the finished machine exceeded my expectations in every way. In fact, as the development process went on, the games were getting better and the hardware and OS were getting stronger. Normally in this business it’s the other way around, with the end result being somewhat underwhelming. On the whole, it’s been a tremendous challenge and experience to follow the project from the very early days of hushed tech specs and a shroud of secrecy to the massmarket launch. I don’t think there will ever be another opportunity like this one, and I sometimes feel like I’ve got the front seat on the most amazing rollercoaster ride you can imagine.Given the PlayStation is a small grey box attached to a SNES-style joypad, do you believe that it is as innovative as that seminal Sony product, the Walkman?Well, the Walkman revolutionised the way people listen to music – taking it outside the confines of their home or car for the first time. It made people think differently about the part music played in their lives and became a cultural icon. The PlayStation is certainly a dramatic innovation but not an invention like the Walkman was in the 1970s.When you look at the PlayStation as a complete system, what aspect of the design appeals to you most?Every part of the machine – from the sleek outer case design, the ingenious memory cards and the ergonomic controllers through to the chipset – has been so well designed. It feels like a complete product – no element has been rushed or compromised. It also feels like a Sony product – you know you’re holding 40 years of innovation and quality. Then when you look at the price we’ve achieved, it becomes even more remarkable. Was the machine’s development a long and labourious process?Yes but it was also a very interesting process. The very firt thing I had was some written specifications which were, at the time, half-reality, half-blue sky. I just remember the first time I read through those specs and I thought, hang on, this must be a misprint – this can’t be real! Then the next thing I saw was a videotape and that was about two years ago. That videotape was just a first inkling of what PlayStation was all about. It had some demonstrations actually coming off the chipset in prototype. This chipset was running about 30 per cent thrughput and it was staggering. Unike anything I’d seen before. And then we had this first 30 per cent hardware prototype in at the end of 1993 – a great big box about the size of a desktop photocopier – and it was all grey metal and very, very ugly. And it had two huge fans inside it to keep it cool – it sounded like the thing would take off when you turned it on!That must have been around the time that developers got to see it…We showed it to about 100 developers in December 1993. I remember reading the article in Edge and smiling at your frustration because no-one would tell you anything about the machine. We had everyone sign a non-disclosure agreement before we let them see the presentation. I invited the cream of the European developers to our office where we’d taken over an empty floor in the building and gave this presentation about the technology and the objectives we had for the business. It was great to see the best programmers and designers in the country with open mouths thinking exactly the same as I had when I’d first seen the technology – excitement mixed with a big dose of disbelief. We had to prove to one well-known developer that the demos ran off a real prototype and an SGI.
