Vita's 3.00 firmware update, which preps the handheld for the PS4's arrival later this month, is live and available to download. The update's major addition is PS4 Link, an app that adds Remote Play and Second Screen connectivity between console and handheld.
Similar to the PS3-based feature, Remote Play will let you play "most" PS4 games on your Vita via Wi-Fi. As detailed by Social Media Manager Sid Shuman, it'll work best when the PS4 is connected via ethernet, and when the Vita is in "close proximity" to the Wi-Fi access point. As for testing that out for yourself, without the console the PS4 Link app is just a dirty little tease on the Vita home screen - hold tight until November 15.
The other aspect of PS4 Link is the Second Screen feature, which sounds similar but is significantly different. Second Screen lets you access additional content on the Vita screen, maybe a map or some weapon info. It's specifically for games that support it, much like Microsoft's SmartGlass tech for the Xbox 360. Second Screen will also be available on iOS and Android devices via the upcoming PlayStation app.

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen is the first of November's PlayStation Plus offerings to break cover, and subscribers gain access to the expanded re-release after today's PSN update. If you missed it earlier this year, Dark Arisenfeatures Capcom's action-RPG alongside a host of supplemental content. Well, that's what after seeing the likes of Binary Domain, Ibb & Obb, Soul Sacrifice, and Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD on the current-gen bill. Meanwhile, the PS4's opening line-up stars Housemarque'sResogun and cabaret puzzle platformer Contrast, the latter replacing theDriveclub after that game's last-minute delay.

A new title update on PS3 and Xbox 360 is available for GTA Online. The update – which addresses cloud synchronization issues where players would lose progress, cash, online vehicles and their mods when cloud uploads failed – will trigger the next time you boot up Grand Theft Auto 5.
In addition to the update, Rockstar says GTA Online players should get their first half of the delayed stimulus package money sometime in the next few days. The cash will roll out over the course of a full day, so don't expect the deposit to show on your Maze Bank account right away.
Later this month, GTA Online will get its first content update: the Beach Bum content pack, plus job creation tools. The Beach Bum pack includes four new vehicles, two new weapons and over 300 items, while the job creation tools allow players to create their own custom race and deathmatch variants for use in GTA Online.

Come November 29, those in the UK will be able to purchase a PlayStation 4 bundle that includes Assassin's Creed 4 (and nothing else).
Though that's great news for citizens of a nation that spent the Age of Discovery actively funding piracy, it's also the sum total of what we know about the bundle. Ubisoft has yet to divulge pricing information for the package, or any word on if these bundles will be available in limited quantities.

Sony has been crowing about the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita's love affair since last February, and with the latter's latest software update Hirai and pals are making good on those promises. Perhaps its most important feature is the PS4 Link, which acts as a sort of wireless umbilical cord between the next-gen console and the portable. PS4 Link allows certain PS4 games to be played on the Vita, and it turns the handheld into a second screen for some titles as well. Also tucked into the patch are parental controls that govern playtime and content ratings, changes to messaging, tweaks to the friends list and a panoramic camera option. In further good news, the update also allows you to automatically download future patches (finally!) and send messages between Vita, mobile devices and PS4 users. Now, if you'll excuse us, we're off to hibernate for 11 days so the PS4 Link can make itself useful.

That big important announcement regarding Sony's PocketStation? Well, it was a little zealous to call it important, because rather than anything as thrilling as a hardware revival, Sony's brought back its memory-card-with-a-screen as a charming but limited app for its Vita handheld. Having said that, the company's already gone to the effort of crafting a dedicated portal for compatible games (including Metal Gear Solid: Integraland Final Fantasy VIII). The app isn't standalone, and requires one of those compatible titles to function at all. For now, it's an exclusive free download for PS Plus users in Japan, and there's no official noises so far that it'll appear anywhere beyond those shores at least for now. However, the original hardware did work with compatible overseas titles pre-millennium, so there's at least a chance, if not a particularly huge one.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a next-gen game trailer in 1080p at 60fps is at least five times as valuable. However, streaming such a clip without degrading the source material isn't exactly a cake walk, and that's why the latest teaser for Killzone: Shadow Fall is only available as a direct download from Sony. If you click over to thePlayStation Blog you can grab a video showing off the game's multiplayer that weighs in at a hefty 570MB for just over a minute of footage. Sony isn't the first to do this though, it's just the first to heavily publicize it: Respawn has 1080p 60fps footage ofTitanfall for your downloading pleasure, too. If this is what it takes to get a better idea of how a game will actually look when we play it ourselves, we're all for it. However, we find it a little odd that Sony's file is in Quicktime format -- a codec that a PS3 can't play back natively.

Sony's community brand PlayStation Access has changed hands, swapping Future Publishing for Yogscast but retaining its original team.
"It's a great move for everybody," said Nathan Ditum, editor of PlayStation Access.
"It was important to us that the team stayed together - I'm thrilled to still be working with Rob [Pearson] and Dave [Jackson], whose incredible work has driven our success this year, and with Hollie who's been an absolute revelation at PlayStation. I should also mention Ian Vinten - partly because he's a big reason that working with Sony continues to be so enjoyable, and also because last time I gave a quote I didn't and he sent me a stern tweet about it."
"Yogscast is a very exciting place to be. We're not planning any changes to our content, but we're obviously keen to learn as much from them as we can, and to share our expertise with them too."
PlayStation Access creates editorial and video content around the Sony brand, and currently has around 146,106 subscribers on YouTube and 44,309 followers on Twitter. Its recent post featuring the new Sony "For The Players" advert attracted over 3 million viewers.
Yogscast was founded in 2008 and has evolved into a network of media products including video, podcasts and is even at work on a game, Yogventures.

Neither Journey nor The Unfinished Swan are coming to PlayStation 4.
Speculation that the pair were heading to Sony’s new console began after Sony Santa Monica’s creative director Nathan Gary tweeted pictures of Flower, Escape Plan and flOw being played on the machine. Pictures of The Unfinished Swan and Journey followed these PS3 and Vita titles.
However, Gary later clarified that this was not confirmation of a PS4 release.

More PlayStation 4 games are to be announced the night before the console is released in North America.
GameTrailersTV’s Geoff Keighley tweeted that the website will be doing a #PS4ALLACCESS event on November 14thand said there will be ‘world premieres and announcements.’ These will definitely involve new games.
Compared to the Xbox One launch, the PlayStation 4’s release looks arguably less impressive having lost DriveClub. This is in addition to both platforms losing Watch Dogs.
The PlayStation 4 launches in the UK on November 29th.

One disgruntled Blockbuster customer took matters into his own hands when told he could not receive a refund for his PS4 pre-order.
Blockbuster confirmed just hours after announcing its intention to re-enter administration that next-gen pre-orders would be refunded in full.
But the BBC reports that the 31 year-old Adam Sibley was told by staff at the Dunstable store that he could receive a refund for his £450 PS4 pre-order only if he wrote to head office. The store itself, however, could only offer DVDs and Blu-rays up to the same value.
Sibley was understandably not satisfied and set himself up with a megaphone in front of the store, accusing the retailer of “robbing” him and advising potential customers not to enter.
Fortunately, all was well in the end.
"The store opened at 09:30 and a refund was put straight through," he said. "It's a great result. I was the first customer in the store and my refund was the first transaction so I am very happy with that.
"Who in their right mind is going to spend £450 on Blu-rays and CDs a month before Christmas? It's unreasonable for them to expect me to do that when I was expecting a console."

EA Canada has confirmed that next year’s Xbox One and PS4 release UFC will not run at 60 frames per second.
Instead, the game will run at 30fps – although it will output at 1080p on both consoles.
Interestingly, EA Canada creative director Brian Hayes toldGamingBolt that he doesn’t think 60fps would be of any particular benefit in his game.
“The game sim is running at 60fps, but rendering at 30fps with motion blur,” he stated.
“From prior experience working on Fight Night Round 4 and Fight Night Champion, which rendered at 60fps and 30fps respectively, we discovered that 60fps didn’t have a hugely beneficial impact on gameplay, but motion blur had an enormous impact on visual quality.
“In fact, when we focus tested the two, the majority of people preferred the 30fps experience with motion blur. So, as opposed to arbitrarily jumping back to 60fps for little discernible benefit, we decided to put those resources towards improving the visual presentation of the game in other ways.”

PS3 owners can start downloading Call of Duty: Ghosts on their PS3 right now.
Sony has announced that pre-loads for the digital version of the game are now live on PSN, meaning that gamers can (theoretically) have the game installed to their system and ready to play at 00:01 tomorrow morning (Tuesday November 5th).
Note to that those who have paid for the digital PS3 version will be entitled to buy the PS4 version digitally for just £9.99 when it arrives alongside PS4 in the UK on November 29th.
Multiplayer stats and progress will be carried over from one version to the next.
Of course, this all depends on the digital release of Ghosts going smoother than Grand Theft Auto V’s did on Sony’s service.
It’s all recapped here, but effectively not only was the pre-load date delayed (obviously not an issue here as the pre-load is now live) but there were also massive problems with users finding that the 18GB download was corrupted – often having spent hours downloading it.
Then, of course, there were alleged performance issues with the digital version compared to the disc release, although these were never officially acknowledged.

A total of 19 games will be available on day one for PS4 when it’s released in the UK on November 29th.
The list includes seven first party Sony titles and 12 from third parties, two of which are indie games.
The headliners? Killzone: Shadow Fall, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, FIFA 14 and Assassin’s Creed IV, probably.
Contrast, of course, is the headline PS Plus freebie replacing DriveClub which was recently delayed into next year.
And where’s Need for Speed Rivals? There were rumours doing the rounds earlier in the week that EA’s game had been delayed, although it appeared these had been quickly dispelled. We’re chasing EA on that.

Here’s the list in full:

Sony’s PS3 racer is bravely going where no driving simulator has gone before.
A new trailer for the game, which can be seen below, offers a glimpse of what the official car list reveals to be the Lunar Roving Vehicle LEV-001 '71.
That’s just one of the 120 new cars featured in the game, as per the complete car list.
Whether the Rover can only be raced on the moon or can also be put through its paces in a terrestrial setting is yet to be seen. And indeed – are users going to be able to take a Bugatti Veyron or Lamborghini Aventador to Earth’s orbiting neighbour?

Sony has released a detailed FAQ post about the PS4, a few weeks ahead of the console’s US launch.
The PS4 is set for a North American launch on November 15th (with the UK to follow on November 29th), and the question-and-answer ‘ultimate FAQ’ post on the North American and European PlayStation Blog sites aims to make the details about the box clear ahead of its release.
One piece of information revealed about the console is the fact that it can be used in a vertical or horizontal position, like the PS3. Microsoft has previously stated that the Xbox One can only be used in a horizontal position.
Sony also stated in the post that “the PS4 system is capable of 10x the processing power of [the] PS3 system”, and that development on the next-gen console started in 2008.
As with the PS3, the PS4 will support a resolution of up to 1080p via HDMI, but Sony adds that “support for high-resolution 4K output is still in consideration [but] the PS4 system does not currently support 4K output for games”.
Interestingly, to enable many of the PS4’s advertised features – such as gameplay recording, background downloading and even the ability to play Blu-rays and DVDs and play online – the system has to download a 300MB day-one 1.50 software update, which will add the features to the console.
CDs, MP3s and media sharing are all features on the PS3 that will not be available on the PS4 at all, and backwards compatibility with PSone, PS2 and PS3 games is also not supported.
Some of the other advertised features, such as the suspend/resume mode and wireless headset support, won’t be available when the console hits American shelves.
However, a feature that Sony hasn’t advertised much, but that is supported, is the ability to control the system using voice recognition and the PlayStation Camera. The camera, which also supports facial recognition and motion tracking, will be sold separately from the console for £44.99.
Sony’s lack of advertisement regarding the feature is interesting, as Microsoft has touted the Xbox One’s ability to be controlled with the included Kinect camera as a main feature.
