Kumi Yuasa, associate producer for echochrome, announced recently on the official PlayStation Blog that the unique puzzle game for the PS3 and PSP will hit the PlayStation Store today.
echochrome will be available on the PS3 PlayStation Store as well as the PlayStation Store for PC -- which you can then throw onto your PSP. Both versions of the puzzling title offer 56 different levels, so the experience will be fresh even if you purchase both items. The game is priced at $9.99, so if you're in the mood for a real challenge, fill up your PlayStation wallet and get ready to download.

Owners of PlayStation 3 consoles in the US are using their consoles to play Blu-ray disc movies in increasing numbers according to research done by Warner Home Video.
During the final quarter of 2007, PS3 households spent 15 per cent of their PS3 time watching Blu-ray movies. In January and February, the proportion increased to 23 per cent.
The research, revealed at the PEVE Digital Entertainment conference in Paris as reported by Screen Digest, also indicated that the proportion of US PS3 household using the console as a Blu-ray movie player had risen from 53 per cent in September 2007 to 80 per cent in the first two months of 2008.
Warner Home Video president Ron Sanders said that, following a Sony TV ad campaign encouraging the use of PS3 consoles to watch movies, the proportion of PS3 households purchasing Blu-ray discs rose from less than 10 per cent in October 2007 to over 15 per cent in December - suggesting that Sony's advertising had an impact.
Screen Digest senior analyst Helen Davis Jayalath, however, notes that the timing of Warner's research makes it impossible to quantify how much of an effect the Christmas gift-giving season would have had on Blu-ray spending without Sony's promotions.
"Furthermore, the relative lack of strong games titles for the PS3 over this period is also likely to have contributed to the console's use as a BD player," she wrote.
Nonetheless, Jayalath noted that the size of the PS3 installed base means that even a minimal increase in average per household Blu-ray disc purchase rates could substantially impact total hi-def media sales.

Fancy a headache? Course you do. Sony's mind-melting puzzler, Echochrome, is out on the US PSN today for your self-harming pleasure.
In case you've not been following it, Echochrome is an innovative little title which sees you rotating simple 3D environments to create paths for a little walking make to traverse.
It uses a clever optical illusion mechanic, where obstacles like holes or gaps in the path disappear when you can't see them. It hurts just trying to explain it... just download the currently-available demo.
Unfortunately for UK gamers, that might not be for another week or so, as Sony UK is yet to announce a UK date for the quirky little title.
There are two versions being release, one for PS3 on the PS Store, and one for PSP on the PC Store for PSP - each version with its own 56 levels and both costing $9.99.

Sony in Australia has told Gizmodo that PlayTV - the PS3's USB TV tuner and video-recording add-on - will launch there in Q4 2008.
The device's launch will probably be bit more complicated than a standard game launch, but you would still expect relative parity among PAL regions, and this has prompted speculation in some quarters that we'll be waiting a while for PlayTV too. Here, for example.
This wasn't helped recently by Sony's refusal to clarify reports of a 31st July date and the absence so far of a more detailed estimate than sometime in 2008.
When we spoke to SCEE this week, a spokesperson offered some hope: "We have not yet announced a release date or pricing for PlayTV in the UK, but will have more information shortly," we were told.
That could mean we will see an announcement during next week's PlayStation Day event in London, when SCE president Kaz Hirai and European boss David Reeves will deliver a press conference expected to detail plans for the rest of 2008.
PlayTV, announced last year, allows PS3 owners to record TV programmes on the PS3 hard disk and watch another TV channel at the same time.
Pricing has yet to be announced for the add-on - a USB block in the shape of a sunglasses case - but the most important detail for prospective buyers is whether or not you can record TV while you play games, and Sony is currently trying to achieve this without impacting gameplay.
Check out our PlayTV preview for more on that issue - including comments from Sony's Cambridge studio developers - as well as details on how it's implemented.

GTA IV producer Leslie Benzies has estimated that the game cost Rockstar approximately USD 100 million to create.
In an interview with the Times Online, Benzies also said that more than 1000 people worked on the title for a period of over a three and a half years.
If the figure is correct, GTA IV's development costs would make it the most expensive game ever made - topping the USD 70 million+ development budget for Sega's Shenmue for the Dreamcast.
GTA IV, however, has already sold over 600,000 copies on the first day in the UK alone and analysts have predicted that the game could gross more than USD 400 million in its first week.
Benzies also noted that much of the beating Rockstar has taken over the past three years - by the government and the press - comes from people who haven't played the game.
Why do people object to a game they haven't even played?
"You kill prostitutes," he told the Times Online. "That's usually the objection."
"There is a big fear factor here. It's the coming of the railways. It's Elvis shaking his hips. It's cars going over 25 miles an hour and making people explode."

Ever wanted to be able to play your PSP games on your television, but couldn't because you don't own an HD TV?? Well now you can, thanks to this nifty application, made by OldPrisoneR. (must own a Slim and Lite PSP)
What does this program do?
Its a plug-in that makes it possible to play with your PSP Slim and Lite by posting the image on a TV via the composite cable (not HD TV). Attention, the plug-in is under development and the version presented here is a beta.
With which firmwares is it compatible?
It was tested by the author on custom Firmware 3.80 m33-5 but it functions with Custom Firmwares higher. We tested it successfully on Custom firmware 3.93.
Bugs Known: Known Bugs:
*Warriors Orochi: it is necessary to activate the plug-in after having passed the loading screen if not then it will freeze the game.
*Silent Hill Origins: "specks" appear sometimes.
*Killzone: Makes noises on the images.
In all the cases, the author recommends to activate the plug-in only after finishing the loading of the game and after skipping the intro videos of the game. If there are problems with certain images, try pressing the "Home" button several times.
How to install this?
*Download “FUSED” for PSP
*Connect your PSP to your computer via USB
*Put your PSP in “USB Mode”
*Extract the files
*Choose your PSP drive
*Copy the "seplugins" folder to your memory stick's root
*Open the file GAME.txt and add the following line:
ms0:/seplugins/FuSa.prx
*Go into recovery and enable the plugin
How to activate it?
Once you have your game started, press the volume buttons "+" and "-" and hold for a small moment. This activates the menu:
*Composite cable inserted: Indicates if a cable is connected
*Disable Plug-in: Disables the plug-in
*Switch to TV: switch between TV and LCD (you can also press the SCREEN button to switch to LCD)
*Speed Booster []: Enables SPEED BOOSTER feature (see more info below)
*Grab VRAM to VRAM.bin: recover the contents of the VRAM to write it in a VRAM.bin file (which can be explored with the suitable tool) - a function for the devs.
*EXIT MENU: Exit the menu (you can also press circle to exit immediately)
COMPATIBLE GAMES:
Commercial Games:
Twisted Metal
Echochrome
DownStream Panic
FlatOut
God of War: Chains of Olympus
Silent Hill: Origins
Homebrew:
NesterJ
DGEN (You must turn vsync off in it's settings)
FuSa has a feature called "SPEED BOOSTER", which makes games to work by speeding them up.You can enable it in MENU, but you will not be able to disable it.
This mode makes it possible to play the following games:
Patapon
Pursuit Force
Daxter
Off Road
Game(s) that do not work with "SPEED BOOSTER":
Warriors Orochi
Quite a bit of info, huh? Ready to try the app yourself, then click on the download below. Enjoy!

a curious press release from a nottingham company, personally i live in nottingham and havent heard of them :P
Atlantic Link's ground breaking rapid e-learning authoring tools have taken another significant leap forward. The software now allows courses to be designed specifically for the Sony PSP Slim & Lite.
The courses can be deployed locally (from the Memory Stick Duo) or from the Internet, giving users a true mobile learning experience. They also look superb, because all the functionality of Atlantic Link’s rapid e-learning authoring tools can be applied to small screen format.
MD Mike Alcock explains, "The traditional problem with courses on the PSP is that they’ve never been designed for the smaller screen and are often shrunken versions of courses designed for viewing on PC screens. To tackle this we have enabled our software to author at the native screen size of a Sony PSP. Because the output of Content Point is Flash, the courses still contain all of the high quality and interactivity of Atlantic Link’s usual output, but with the benefit of small screen design. Quizzes, games, activities, audio, video and Flash animations are all supported, giving users the richest possible course experience." Authoring is undertaken with the same software that is already delivering the fastest e-learning authoring for major companies across the globe.
Mike Alcock continues, “The potential applications for this technology are huge and almost mind-boggling. Tourist guides, language training, product training and updates, maintenance guides and training, medical training, interactive museum guides, schools training, the list is almost endless. With the government focusing on ‘personalised learning’, we believe that we are at the forefront of the next wave of e-learning. Because our rapid e-learning software is so incredibly quick at producing courses, content producers now have a method for producing huge volumes of highly interactive content for the Sony PSP in hours instead of weeks. Needless to say we are enormously excited about the possibilities."
If you have a PSP Slim & Lite (or just want to look at a course), view a sample of Atlantic Link's PSP e-learning at the link below.

Slicer4ever steps his game up with Pixel Attack version 0.3.
Allow me to play it out for you… You’re Jack Mason (a pixel), who must survive by running (maneuvering) around the forest/bush (screen) while avoiding (dodging) Thomas Burns, Doc Hawkins, and Walter Cole (enemy circles) from hunting and killing your sorry ass. That’s my analogy dating back to ‘94.
Although packing a “not 1.5″ directory, Pixel Attack 0.3 — in its current state — is not compatible with the Slim. MP3 support requires kernel mode access; you will need the 1.50 kernel add on for Phat only. Dark_AleX’s Time Machine may work for you, but I’ve yet to try.
Pixel Attack 0.3 changes:
added mp3 support directly from music folder
added more background effects
rainbow effect
life ball (increases life)
psp-hacks splash screen

As if the R-Type franchise's move from a side-scrolling shooter to a turn-based strategy game wasn't intriguing enough, Atlus is giving you another reason to pick up R-Type Command next week -- select retailers will be selling the game along with a free collectable figurine.
GameStop, Amazon, Game Crazy, and a number of other videogame shacks will be packing the R-9 figurine in with the $39.99 game while supplies last.
If you're just joining us, R-Type Command puts you in command of a space fleet through 57 different missions and has you strategically outthink your opponent as you make decoys, assemble your fleet and take advantages of weaknesses.

Let me present a game certainly well known, but which allowed me to develop my first application on PSP.
This game is to find a combination of 4 colors.
6 colors can be chosen.
When a combination is validated, the computer compares the combination entry with the result to find:

-- 1 small white piece indicates that the color exists but is not the right place
10 tests are possible to find the right combination.
Fotograf*as:
History:

Two teenagers were arrested Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of trying to steal almost $1,400 worth of the new Grand Theft Auto IV video games from a Best Buy store in Oakdale.
The latest game in the notoriously violent series was released on the same day.
Capt. Jack Kettler said police were called to the store at about 4 p.m. Tuesday. A store employee reported seeing two boys walking out of the store with some merchandise.
Police apprehended two teenagers in a nearby parking lot. They said one, a 15-year-old boy, had eight copies of the video game and faces a misdemeanor theft charge. The other, police said, was a 16-year-old boy who had 15 copies of the game and faces a gross misdemeanor charge.

April 30th, 2008, 23:06 Posted By: wraggster
The public got its first look Tuesday at controversial video game Grand Theft Auto IV.
Multimedia Watch The Video It's jammed full of sex, drugs, and lots of blood-soaked violence, and it's flying off store shelves.
"It's a good game, man. You get to run over cops, kill people, run them over," one man buying the game on Tuesday said.
For some people, that is a disturbing sign of the times.
One of the groups lining up in criticizing the game is Philadelphia's police union.
It's expected to be the hottest-selling video game ever, and it was the reason hundreds lined up at midnight to buy the shoot 'em up thriller, chock full of sex and violence.
"The glorification of killing of any police officer is just wrong. I mean, it desensitizes people to the real mayhem that's going on out on the streets, and we already have a real problem with people not valuing human life," said Eugene Blagmond, of the Fraternal Order of Police.
But that didn't seem to stop gamers from lining up Tuesday, including four police officers in the span of an hour spotted buying the controversial game.
Gamers said the critics' contention that these games could spur violence against cops is wrong.
"It's a way to get out frustration, you know, so that you wouldn't do that in real life, I would like to believe," another man said.
"People don't seem to have a problem turning guns on cops, and this game -- I know it's just a game, but people sometimes have trouble separating reality from fantasy," Blagmond countered.
Estimates are that Grand Theft Auto IV could make upwards of $400 million in its first week alone.

If you own a PS3 and haven't downloaded PixelJunk Monsters, you're currently failing in life. It's awesome, and the 'Encore' expansion pack will be extending the fun in May.
Q-Games' expansion, will give players a whole new island, Toki Island, containing 15 more inevitably infuriating levels to complete (doesn't this game make you angry, too?).
Gameplay looks to be remaining mostly the same, except a reduction to the cost of the Tesla Tower, and the Ice Tower (which we tend not to use) being made a stock item.
Five new chirpy tunes will be added to the quirky soundtrack, too.
On level, Racer Gardens, will be based on a track from the not-quite-so-successful PixelJunk Racers, which Q-Games boss Dylan Cuthbert says is "really tough". The price for the expansion is yet to be announced.
As well as PixelJunk Monsters Encore, Cuthbert also promises PJM themes, wallpapers and avatars for PS3 owners to decorate their XMB with.
Shots of two new levels are below.
