Former Xbox boss and current EA Sports president Peter Moore took a swipe at an old sparring partner this week, expressing dismay at the ongoing delay of Sony's Home service for the PlayStation 3.
The EA Sports president's comments came less than 24 hours after Sony Computer Entertainment boss Kaz Hirai apologised for the latest delay to Sony's ambitious online social networking project.
Our sister site Eurogamer.net asked Moore whether he was interested in working with Home now that he was no longer a direct rival.
"Yeah; I just wish it would ship," he answered.
"I [previously] questioned it a little bit, whether I'd want to wander around there. Phil Harrison showed me a demo – it's very cool, but let's go already. And so I'm disappointed that it's been pushed back a little bit again.
"But I really hope it gets going and becomes that portal to the PlayStation Network and we can utilise it. But boy, I just wish we'd get going."
Home will allow PS3 users to create their own virtual avatar and living space, encouraging interaction with Sony's online community. It is now scheduled for an autumn release.
"We've been testing Home for some time and I simply feel that as great as Home currently is, it needs a little bit more time before it's ready for the wider public - something we firmly believe we can provide in the autumn," Hirai said as he explained the delay at an event in London earlier this week.

SCEE boss David Reeves has said there is not enough incentive for developers to work on multiple language translations during development - explaining that's why us Europeans get games after the US.
Reeves told Eurogamer he would "love to go day and date with some titles" in the two continents, but said that was only really feasible in the UK. And he thinks you might call him bias if he did that.
"Well some developers would say they can do [translations during initial development]. Talk to Ted Price at Insomniac and he builds it in at the beginning. We're trying to educate all our developers to do that but it's something that's going to take a while," Reeves told Eurogamer.
"But even if you talk to Guerrilla, Namco, Square Enix, they all do it in English to begin with and then think about localisation later. You're absolutely right, we should do it at the beginning. But they look at it like, 'How much can I get for a Dutch version of the game?'
"With PlayStation Store we could probably go in the UK almost day and date. But then what are the Germans and the French going to say to me? That I'm Anglo-centric," added Reeves.
Yes and they may use other words, too.

Rockstar has released a patch that plugs the crash-causing holes in the PS3 version of GTA IV, and has issued a statement to "apologise for the inconvenience".
The patch, now available to download directly from the internet (your PS3 will need to be connected, obviously) fixes issues related to Gamespy's servers.
According to Rockstar, it "prevents Gamespy's servers from being overloaded and therefore reduces the impact on those servers that were causing the game to stutter and lock up."
So, as well as stopping the freezing, you should also actually be able to get a game online.
Rockstar says it'll be keeping a close eye on things from here. "We continue to monitor the performance of the game both on and offline and will provide further updates as necessary," it told CVG.
"We want to assure everyone that, together with our hardware partners, we continue to strive to give our fans the best possible interactive entertainment experiences possible. This update will ensure that everyone will experience Grand Theft Auto IV the way it was intended.
"We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused."
We forgive you.

Here I'm back with my protect-me app, changelogs since v0.9f:
Quoted form the readme
-Added a credit screen
-Now, if someone takes your PSP "illegaly", inputs a wrong password, even if he hard reboots the PSP, a message will be written saying "this psp received a bad password input on XXX" and the date, so you have to put the good password to disable this password, otherwise, it will appear at each boot, making it impossible to boot on the XMB!

Sony has told GamesIndustry.biz that it expects forthcoming title LittleBigPlanet to achieve higher sales figures than Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Edition.
GT 5 Prologue was released last March at retail and online and became the fastest-selling PlayStation 3 game, while also boosting sales of PS3 hardware by 14 per cent.
"We're hoping sales will be higher than GT5 Prologue," revealed David Reeves, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe.
Analysts are backing the game as a system seller, suggesting it will manage to appeal to a family audience not currently catered for by either Nintendo or Microsoft.
The game, developed by Media Molecule, is due for release this October. The platformer will allow users to create their own levels and share them online with other PS3 users.
LittleBigPlanet was first announced at GDC 2007 and remains one of Sony's key titles. It has taken centre stage at multiple press events, and is being used to push Sony's PS3 online message along with social community Home and party favourite SingStar.
"These are genre-defining titles, something we're very proud of, and just one facet of the rapidly growing world of PlayStation," said Kaz Hirai, president of SCEA, during Sony's PlayStation Day in London yesterday.
"[LittleBigPlanet] will completely revolutionise the way gamers interact with their games, especially through the community functions and the ability to interact with LittleBigPlanet lovers around the globe," he added.

News/release From Angelo
Hello guys.
After a bit of tinkering around with my flash0, piKey and IRDA stuff, I managed to fix a bug many of you have found anoying.
Some of may have noticed that IRDA (Infared) has been acting strange in firmwares 3.80+.
It fails to work when in "Game3.XX" mode. This ins't the case in just piKey, but also in ZX-81's PSPWrite, AFKIM and various other IRDA applications.
The patcher can be downloaded here
Instructions:
Remember, this is for PSP fats only!
Very simple... just copy the contents from the "ms0" folder to your PSP and run.
(I have made the patcher multi kernel so you don't require the 1.50 addon pack.)
Then just enable the plugin in the recovery menu!
How it works: (My favourite question)
It just simply adds "Flash0:\KD\IRDA.PRX" to "ms0:\SEPlugins\Game.txt". This loads the IRDA.PRX driver in "Game3.XX" mode and enables your IR keyboard to work again.
NOTE:
This patcher enables your PSP to access the flash0, however their is no risk of bricking. The patcher does not access the flash0 at all!
Have fun guys!

News/release From ChrisP6825
Reverb 1.2
by Chrisp6825
-----------------
To install :
Extract the Reverb folder to the GAME folder of you PSP.
-----------------
About :
This game is about trying to get the white ball into the big purple one while fighting gravity and friction with anti-gravity blocks.
You also want to get to the finish point with the shortest run, least amount of anti-gravity blocks, and fastest build time.
You have to avoid obstacles like bombs, walls, and traps, while jumping through portals and grabing keys.
This game is based on a game at addicting games I saw called "Compulse". My friend showed it to me and it seemed like a good chalenge to beat. After I beat it, I wanted to play it more. So I decided to put it on my psp and take it where ever I went, but the game was in flash and I hate the psp's lash player. So I thought it'd be fun to remake it and then play it on my psp.
This is a Lua game. I've tested it in Luaplayer HM 5.0 and 6.6. It did work on Luaplayer .20 but I added Mp3's to the game.
-----------------
Controls :
Move the "mouse" around with arrow keys or analog. If you hold L and move the analog it moves slower.
Press and hold X on the boxes to make new ones and place around on the course.
Circle resets the level, and Square deletes the top block under the mouse.
Start releases the ball, and Select pauses the game.
While in the menu, Select will also resume the game.
Up and down changes the selections in the menu's.
Change log :
-----------------
05-06-2008 - Reverb 1.2
Added main menu and in game pause-menu
Added background music
Added somewhat of a H.U.D.
"One-way" walls and floors
Option to turn music on or off
Fixed exit function (used to exit to Lowser if it was running, else it crashed)
Some graphic updates
Timer now counts on how long it takes to finish the level (used to count how long it took ball to get to finish)
Shows number of used blocks
Shows the expected number of blocks to use to finish the level, plus a challenge number also
Small improvements in physics and gravity
Greyed out menu items show what is expected in next release
Some bug fixes
*Known Bugs*
Death animation (stars) slowed down a bit. This is to keep the game from slowing down until I find a way around it.
Usual collision limitations
timer will sometimes jump up an extra 7000 seconds, for some unknown reason.
If more than one green/ yellow block is placed, it increases the strength of a single one. Still counts the new block.
Game slows down a small bit if block count is around 15 or 16.

It's been a long time coming, but Ubisoft's Free Radical-developed shooter, Haze, has finally been given the demo treatment, with the publisher sending word that a single and multiplayer-flavored demo is now available over PSN in Europe and that the same hors d'oeuvre will make the rounds in the U.S. starting May 8.
As if offering apology for Haze's numerous delays, the demo will include both a sampling of the game's single player campaign called "Salva Region," as well as "drop-in drop-out" co-op multiplayer for up to four players online or over a LAN, or with two players via split-screen. We're sure that there is some "coming out of the haze" joke to be made here, but honestly, after months of waiting we're simply all joked out.

Speaking at the PlayStation Day yesterday, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Kaz Hirai apologised for teething problems during the first year of the PlayStation 3 and the disappointment of delaying social networking application Home.
He acknowledged that the the software line-up was underwhelming for some consumers, and that competitors enjoyed a more successful year during the first 12 months of release for the company's luxury console.
"It's fair to say that the first year of PlayStation 3 was somewhat a difficult one," offered Hirai. "There were some teething problems, success from our competitors, and our customers were a little underwhelmed by the range of titles that were available."
"This was something that we were very much aware of, and something that we were confident we could over come," he said.
Last month Sony made the decision to delay Home, the PS3 social networking and online gaming space, but Hirai reiterated that it would not be released until he was personally happy with it.
"I realise this announcement was disappointing to many people, from TGS where we were aiming for a spring launch, so please accept my apologies for this delay.
"But as I said at Tokyo Game Show, I would not open up Home until I was completely happy with it, and I still stand by that statement.
"We've been testing Home for some time and I simply feel that as great as Home currently is, it needs a little bit more time before it's ready for the wider public - something we firmly believe we can provide in the autumn," he added.
Earlier at the PlayStation event, David Reeves, president of SCEE revealed the PlayStation 3 has now sold more units in Europe than the Xbox 360, and Hirai noted that 2008 has been a good year for the company so far, even with only two key titles – GT5 Prologue and Grand Theft Auto IV – on release.
"Things have improved since the Christmas season and 2008 has gotten off to a fantastic start. What fills me with even greater pleasure is that our year so far has only seen the launch of two of our key titles," he commented.
Some of the titles on display during the London event included Home, Little Big Planet and Motorstorm Pacific Rift.

Rockstar and Sony plans to patch the PS3 version of Grand Theft Auto IV today to improve the multiplayer experience.
Speaking to Eurogamer, a Sony source explained that the patch would help by "reducing the loads on the servers at GameSpy and hopefully the completely random hangs that some users have seen".
PS3 owners who bought GTA IV last week have had to endure problems connecting to the multiplayer service almost from day one.
What's more, some reported random crashes, for which Rockstar suggested that erasing game data and reinstalling as a possible solution.
This week, UK chart monitor Chart-Track reported that 926,000 copies of GTA IV were sold during its first week on sale here - with 413,000 of going to PS3 owners.

We've no idea what's going on in these screenshots, but according to some blurb that's accompanied them PixelJunk Eden is a "truly innovative platform game" involving leaping and swinging between lush alien vegetation.
It "constantly evolves over time as you move through the perfectly realised undergrowth, hunting treasures and smashing enemies from his path. Destroyed enemies scatter pollen across the landscape, which the player must collect and use to pollinate seed pods before using the new growth to progress further."

SCEE boss David Reeves has admitted he is unsure if Sony will stick to offering only the 40GB PS3 unit.
Speaking to Eurogamer, he hinted towards the possibility of introducing official external hard drives as he delivered his vision of consumer storage choice.
"We launched with 60GB and to reduce the price we went to 40GB. We're not sure we want to stay with that configuration of hard drive, and I think what you're going to see in the future is maybe consumers can choose," Reeves told Eurogamer.
"The PlayStation will stay the same, but consumers can choose whichever size of hard drive they want. They can now, or course, because it's not a proprietary hard drive."
"It might be that we will offer the possibility for people to have a bigger hard drive, but they have that option now. But it does not mean that we have anything in the works to introduce a different model or bigger hard drive built in," added Reeves.
You can plug external hard drives into the PS3 using a USB cable attachment, as Reeves pointed out, as well as buy 2.5 inch SATA (laptop) hard drives and swap them with the one inside your console.
The key in all of this for Sony is simplicity, because it knows that works. It also has a very low system failure rate and is in no rush to upset it.
"We've played the games with the hardware, with different hard drives and things like that, and we want to keep it very, very simple. We know that works," said Reeves.
"We've got a very, very low return rate on the machines that are out; we've got a great supplier, so we'll keep that simple. We're just going to play the tunes with the games, both at retail and online."

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has deemed that a misleading PC World television advert for PlayStation 3 should not appear again in its current form.
The ASA deemed the ad in question to be "misleading" because it implied that 60GB PS3s were backwards compatible with all PS2 games.
The phrase "and it plays your PS2 games as well" was highlighted by the ASA, which said that the ad breached CAP TV Advertising Standards Code rule 5.1 (misleading advertising) and should not appear again in its current form.
According to both PC World parent DSG Retail and the ASA, around 80 percent of PS2 software is compatible with 60GB PlayStation 3s.

Sony has revealed that the PS3s PlayStation Network now has over 3.2 million registered users, who between them have downloaded over 57 million items.
Back in January, the figures stood at 2.9 million registered users and 52 million pieces of content.
During Sony's PlayStation Day in London yesterday, the company also revealed that on average players of SingStar on PS3 are buying 6.3 songs via the PlayStation Store.
Resistance: Fall of Man has over 1.4 million users playing online, with the sequel looking to capitalise on online play as developer Insomniac overhauls MyResistance.net and adds social networking features to the site.
Sony also said that launch title Motorstorm has sold over 3 million units.

May 7th, 2008, 17:36 Posted By: wraggster
ragnarok2040 has posted a new version of the Nes Emulator for the PS2:
I've modified the browser and menus to all use a single input function that returns a newly pressed button state for parsing. This way I don't have 3 or 4 or 6 input functions all doing pretty much the same thing. I've also changed the directory list to use a linked list, to simplify things, which shouldn't cause any problems. I've also separated the browser history from the savepath browsing and elfpath browsing, this way it won't affect the first instance of the browser for selecting a rom. I think I broke booting to an elf in the previous betas, and I've fixed it back so it boots off memory card or the usb drive right now. I've gotta test the partition code after browsing for an elf/savepath on hdd0: to see if the fix I added worked. I think I fixed the sram crash, but I'm not sure, since I need to test it on my ps2 as well. I'm going to separate the code for partitioning and path parsing into a separate file from the browser, since it's starting to get cluttered, heh. I should have another release tonight or tomorrow.
Update2:
Wow, seems pretty much dead on these forums the last week. Well, anyway, I think I fixed the sram problem, and I've added the function for configuring input. You'll need to configure both controllers using the 1st player's. I also fixed a bug for CNF saving/loading where if a device was found but no CNF was found, it defaulted to mc0:/FCEUMM/, now it will only do that as a last resort if no device or +FCEUMM partition is found.
