Konami has now issued a new start date for the European Metal Gear Online beta after revealing yesterday it had suspended the test.
That new date is this Saturday - well, April 25 PDT, which is 8am on April 26 here - although the company says that this "may change due to unforeseen circumstances".
Yesterday Konami slammed the brakes on the beta. According to the company, the massive interest in the beta and subsequent massive global traffic following the green light for the test had meant it'd been unable to run the service to the level it expected.
"As a temporary measure, we will be deferring the European public beta test and start it once we stabilize our server. We would like to apologize for all inconveniences as well as confusion caused", a new statement on the official MGO website reads.
The beta will now close on May 11, rather than the original May 5.

Sony could be taking on 360's Video Marketplace with its own film download service for PS3 as soon as this summer.
That's according to the LA Times, quoting anonymous "studio executives familiar with the plan".
Sony is apparently currently in licensing talks, with plans to beam TV programmes and movies to PS3 units via PSN.
The report comes after Sony marketing boss, Peter Dille, spoke of the incoming video service on the PlayStation Blog. "Many of you have been hearing rumblings about a video service that will allow you to download full-length TV shows and movies via PlayStation Network for North America."
He continued: "While I don't have any new announcements here for the PlayStation Nation, it's already been confirmed that we'll be offering a video service for PS3 in a way that separates the service from others you've seen or used. Ultimately the goal of the PlayStation Network service will be to break through the overwhelming clutter of digital media to give you the TV, movies and gaming content you want."
While Dille promised "more on this very soon", Sony UK refuses to comment on the LA Times report.
We say get those broadband connections ready for a video-fuelled battering real soon.

Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that it will expand its closed beta of the PlayStation 3's social networking feature Home.
The beta is scheduled to take place this summer and, under the expansion, Sony has said it will be inviting more people to take part and over a longer period originally planned. The company plans to launch an open beta of the virtual world and social hub later in the Autumn.
"We understand that we are asking PS3 and prospective PS3 users to wait a bit longer, but we have come to the conclusion that we need more time to refine the service to ensure a more focused gaming entertainment experience than what it is today," said Kazuo Hirai, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment.
"Our overarching objective is to provide users with new gaming experiences that are available only on PlayStation Home. Spending more time on the development and on the Closed Beta testing reaffirms our commitment to bringing a quality service, maintaining the PlayStation tradition," he added.

Atlus U.S.A.'s Persona 3 FES is a welcome re-release of the supernatural high-school RPG. The title includes new bonus features, including an extension of the storyline that veterans and newcomers will enjoy.
In Persona 3 FES, players take the role of a high-school transfer student. He starts life normally from school to dorm until an encounter with the Dark Hour, an hour after midnight wear evil beings called Shadows lurk in the streets.
The title sections the day into morning, afternoon, evening, and Dark Hour scenarios. In the morning, the main character can interact with school friends or engage in extracurricular activities. Strong participation in school can lead to extra points in Academics, Charm and Courage attributes.
In the evening, players head back to the dorm to follow into the Dark Hour to battle.
In battle, players can attack, use skills, or summon Personas, alternate beings that harbor strong powers. Players can also analyze enemies to look up their weak point and gain an extra hit after a knock down. Additionally, characters can be set to act on their own, heal, attack a target, or stand by.
The latest version adds new Personas, new Social Links to characters that boost Persona strength, an optional Hard Mode, a Weapon Fusion feature to create new weapons by fusing Personas, and new requests in the Velvet Room, an alternate space for side missions.
The largest addition is a new scenario called The Journey, a continuation of the story that adds tens of hours of new gameplay.
The graphics in Persona 3 FES are clean at 30 frames per second. Locations and enemies are flat-shaded and well-constructed. Character portraits and solid voice acting relay witty banter among the students.
Persona 3 FES is a great RPG for new and old fans. The added bonuses and new gameplay extras offer plenty more at a budget price.

Hoping to capitalize on the PlayStation 2's install base in the growing economy of India, development studio Aurona Technologies plans to develop a PS2 game featuring Hanuman, a key figure in Indian mythology.
According to a Reuters report, the game will be produced at the company's Hyderabad, India offices. Traditionally, Aurona has provided development assistance and platform conversion services to external studios, but the Hanuman game will be an internal project.
Said Sony Computer Entertainment Europe co-COO Jim Ryan of the announcement, "We are committing significant resources to growing the market for console games in India. We have chosen the Hanuman game as our first title specifically developed for the Indian market as the theme is an ever-popular one across the country."
Aurona CEO Santosh Pillai corroborated Ryan's claims: "We are selected by Sony to develop their first game for the Indian market. Hanuman, as a character, offers infinite possibilities for game play development."
Sony plans to make the game available in certain other regions of the world with significant Indian populations.
Though the Hanuman game is intended for children and young teens, Aurona told Reuters it plans to expand its audience with further games targeting the 16-24 year old market.

Rockstar Games is proud to announce the fourth installment of its critically-acclaimed and genre-defining Midnight Club franchise, Midnight Club: Los Angeles, is set for release on September 9th in North America and September 12th in Europe. Developed by series creator Rockstar San Diego, Midnight Club: Los Angeles will give gamers the unprecedented freedom to race through a hyper-realistic LA.
"From the beginning, Midnight Club has been about street racing in a open-world," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "With our team at Rockstar San Diego we have developed a game that we feel once again pushes the boundaries and expectations of what a racing game can be."
Whether driving by the beach or beating the competition by cutting through a parking garage at 200 mph, Midnight Club: Los Angeles provides a seamless, breathtaking environment for everyone who loves to compete. With no load times, no tracks, and no rules, the game allows players to race who they want, when they want, and where they want in an unbelievable recreation of Los Angeles.
"People are going to be blown away when they see how true-to-life Los Angeles looks in this game," said Jay Panek, Midnight Club Producer Rockstar San Diego. "We've added some great twists and turns that let players experience the authentic vibe and feel of the city at blistering speeds that you simply couldn't get away with in real life."
A racing game is nothing without the great cars and Midnight Club: Los Angeles allows extensive customization of vehicles for both performance and appearance. Players can now fully personalize their officially licensed imports, tuners, classic muscle cars and motorcycles both inside and out with a dizzying array of licensed rims, spoilers, interior gauges, tires and more.
Also scheduled for release on September 9th, Midnight Club: LA Remix for the PSP system will provide another incredible portable racing experience. Developed by Rockstar London, the game will take full advantage of the hardware to deliver the unrivaled sense of speed and style that the best-selling Midnight Club series is known for.

Updated release from Art:
Hi Guys,
This is Pointless Pacman V1f, which is a 2D Pacman clone with a unique twist
This is a user mode program, and should run on the PSP fat and slim.
There is a small update to fix the transparency in the ghost while it is flashing.
Of course it's pointless for you, but for me, the point was to hide secret files in the eboot, and use a play combination to have files written to the photo or document directory that noone would know about if they found my PSP or Memory Stick
This functionality has never been in any released version.
YouTube Video Demonstration:

Despite a hard-won victory for its Blu-ray optical format, Sony can't simply ignore online video distribution forever (though it's been doing a pretty impressive job thus far). While the company has been referring to plans for an online video service for awhile (remember this?), last week Peter Dille – Senior Vice President for PlayStation Network – more or less promised a service was in the works. So, while the LA Times revelation "Sony to launch online video service for PlayStation 3" isn't much of a shocker, their timetable is noteworthy: "as early as this summer, studio executives familiar with the plan say."
Of course, "summer" is industry code for "wait until E3" but there are a couple of other details these studio executives apparently let slip. Apparently, in a decidedly un-Sony way, the company "plans to embrace open standards that would make its offering compatible with a range of computers and hand-held devices" including, unsurprisingly, its very own PSP handheld. Dille did promise that Sony would offer a service that's different "from others you've seen or used"; however, with the balkanization of file formats and DRM schemes present in today's online marketplaces, we're skeptical of any widespread support outside of Sony's ecosystem. Sounds like we'll find out more "this summer." Wink.

We've already seen one hack to automate Guitar Hero, but it had the slight disadvantage of having to be pre-programmed for each song, and even then it was slightly hit-and-miss. Now, a father looking for a way to finally beat his son at the game has taken things considerably further, with his hack actually using the composite video input to determine which notes need to be hit in real time. That, as you might have guessed, is way beyond any notion of practicality, and far outside the realm of the average DIYer's skill level, but it seems like it does indeed work, although there are apparently a few minor kinks left to be worked out.

Taking advantage of the current generation hardware, Silent Hill: Homecoming will feature a brand new combat system with new attacks and counters against the game's various monsters. Nikko Citigroup upgraded its rating on Sony this morning in anticipation of it breaking even on PS3 costs earlier than expected. At the moment, Sony sells the PS3 at a loss. The respected group of analysts is now earmarking August as the milestone month. Sony's CFO recently suggested that the move would occur in the second half of the year -- a date analysts then pegged at November. No details behind the new upbeat expectations were provided by Nikko CG. However, it's safe to assume that the PS3's break-even event will be realized by a switch to a sub-65nm cell processor, sub-90nm RSX graphics chip, or both, since the smaller chips are less-costly to manufacturer.
P.S. It's worth noting that Sony has consistently stated that the PS3 will only break-even when both the Cell and RSX chips have shrunk.
Update: Reader Yaddam205 just reminded us about the "Slim PS3" redesign rumored for release in Autumn. No guarantees but smaller, less power-hungry, and cooler running chips would certainly be at the foundation of such a rig.

Been a while since we had a commercial demo, heres a new one to enjoy and you can preorder from Play Asia should you like it enough.
Your link with your partner is the key element to victory in this 2D fighter. Choose two from the twenty four main characters from Bleach and form a tag team. Switch from one fighter to the other anytime you want at the expense of your tag gage. When the tag gage fills up completely, launch limit breaks on your opponents' team and be rewarded with a cool, fully voiced video clip. In this limitless condition, your partner and your attacks join together as one, and it is several times more powerful than single limit break.
When you decide to play the game alone, activate the story mode. The scenes and events are modeled loyally after the original manga. The animation from shi-kai to ban-gai are rendered seamlessly for the series's fans' enjoyment.
