News/release from Super Sheep:
This is my first program I have released on PSP.
This program as its name suggests attempts to be a Universal Theme Flasher. My aim is to make switching between themes as easy as possible.
I noticed many people have trouble installing flash0 themes and are not sure what to do. Most of my friends also screwed up their firmware when installing themes aswell so I wrote this flasher for this reason (and to refresh my memory :P)
The supported firmwares are 3.90, 3.80, 3.71 and 3.52. I didn't do the earlier firmware as I dont believe many people use at all.
Ok so onto the main deal.
The flasher uses configuration files to flash themes and give details about the theme (name, author, firmware etc)
Combine this with security checks and a hardcoded list of all the files then you have some pretty good security. Themes should be in a zip archive with a configuration file named "theme.conf".
Themes should be put into a folder called THEMES in directory with the Eboot.pbp. (such as PSP/GAME/UTF/THEMES)
When you first boot you will get a menu screen like this:
Here you choose the theme you are going to flash. In my case I shall choose ClearXMB Black.
Press X.
It will say something about extracting a configuration file. It will be quick then you will get another menu looking a little like this:
I recommend you backup your current theme first so you can have something to revert to.
If you have or just dont want to then click Install theme.
It will do the rest for you.
Here are screens:
I've also include a sample theme.conf so thememakers can easily make their themes usable by UTF.
Like always read the readme.
I know flashers are outdated now and flash0 usb > UTF but i'm sure someone will benefit from this.

So, here's the thing. In February, HD-DVD breathed its last. In March, Netflix announced that it was quadrupling its Blu-ray selection. And now! Mid April! Blockbuster announces it is rolling out Blu-ray throughout its 4,000 stores in the US, as well as over the border in Canada, after a successful trial run in 1,700 of its outlets.

LilyPad 0.9.1 is a Windows pad plugin. If you run into any bugs or have any suggestions, I'm open to ideas. I'll update this post and bump the thread when I release new versions. Changelog included in rar. 0.9.1 adds a fix for getting/releasing mouse focus and saves file. 0.9.0 adds a work around for an issue with some buggy force feedback drivers. It also adds the ability to load/save configurations in other files and support for guitars (See bottom). No other major changes. The rather messy C++ source is available as well. I'm not terribly concerned about it, but consider it licensed under GPL version 2.
A quick list of the features: Keyboards/Mice/Direct Input devices are all supported. It supports multiple devices of all types, and devices of different types can be mixed and matched. Sensitivity can be adjusted. Force feedback is supported. Multiple keys/buttons/axes can be bound to the same PS2 button, and one key/button/axis can be bound to multiple PS2 buttons. Keys can be mapped to the analog sticks. Axes can be mapped to fake Lx/Rx axes. Pressure sensitive buttons and other single-direction axes (Like foot peddles) are also supported.
Heres whats new:
Fix for mouse focus bug.
Load / Save buttons remember last touched file and path.

If GTA IV is going to be truly groundbreaking, then it will have to break ground in another realm: Real-life crimes to blame on it. Happily, GamesRadar is on the leading edge of this, spotting eight new crimes that imbecilic mainstream media will be thrilled to pin on "gamers," Rockstar, and this particular title.
Bad deeds 2.0 include:
• Driving while talking on a cell phone
• Simple assault
• Hotboxing a car
Funny take that doubles as a feature on some of the new stuff you'll be able to do, in and out of mission, in GTA IV.

The first adverts are out for GTA IV in the UK, and it looks as if the game will be getting similar treatment games like Assassins Creed and Burnout Paradise saw upon release, with the title only getting advertised for one console - in this case the Xbox 360.
It is likely this 360-only advertising could be part of the huge downloadable content exclusive deal Microsoft spent a lot of money on last year. As you can see the advert also gives mention of that, commenting it will be arriving exclusively on the console in “Autumn 2008”
If this single console advertising continues onto TV we have to wonder will it have an effect on PS3 sales of the game?

Jeep Consumer Products adds “Jeep Thrills” by Destination Software Incorporated (DSI) to its exciting range of products. Destination Software Incorporated (DSI) new “Jeep Thrills” video game, designed to bring the Jeep vehicles’ “have fun out there” attitude into the home, will drive into retailers nationwide this summer and will be available for the Wii for $29.99 and the PlayStation 2 for $9.99. The deal was brokered by The Joester Loria Group, the exclusive worldwide licensing agent for the Jeep brand.
The “Jeep Thrills” game brings the excitement of intense off-road racing into the home while incorporating the rugged style and attitude quintessential of the Jeep lifestyle. Players can choose from nearly 20 Jeep vehicles ranging from the classic World War II body style of the Willys, to the more recent Jeep Wrangler and Compass, to action-oriented concept cars. Multi-player racing allows two players to compete head-to-head on more than 30 outdoor courses through hilled jungles and frozen tundra.
“’JeepThrills’ delivers off road thrills and excitement that can only be experienced in the most capable off road vehicle. Destination Software has done a terrific job bringing the Jeep off road experience to video game play,” stated Debra Joester, President and CEO of The Joester Loria Group.
“Video game racing is a genre that attracts imitators, but the Jeep brand screams authenticity,” says Bruce Kain, DSI’s Vice President of Operations. “There is nothing more synonymous with off-road excitement than the Jeep brand, and this is an ideal partnership for an intense, four-wheeling racer.”

Miro is a Ide LUA programming, it allows you to write your applications in Lua. This Ide is oriented programming scripts Lua for PSP.
Key Features
-- The interface has been revamped with a very similar to the Microsoft ide, as Visual Studio.
-- Operate your work not only by opening the script but managing individual projects include images and more.

-- In addition to a series of code numbers will help you find your line quickly.
-- Can be more open with the same script thanks to a program interface cards.

News/release from Hardrive
This is just what you think it is, yet another pong clone. Nothing much is different in this version than any of the millions of other versions, except that I added the ability to move horizontally as well as vertically. In my opinion, it's nothing really that special. This game started as a mini project that I worked on to teach myself the ropes on programming for the PSP as well as programming games using SDL. As a side effect of using SDL, this game also runs on Linux, Windows, or any other platform that is capable or running SDL. Still though, that's not the reason I am releasing this. The main reason I am releasing this is the source. While trying to figure out how to run SDL on the PSP, I came across much conflicting information, and there weren't many examples. If this code can help even one person out there use SDL, then I'm happy. However, that said, I'm not saying I'm using SDL correctly or in the most clever and efficient way possible. The code does compile and run as intended though, so I must be doing something right.
Installing
1.50 PSP
Navigate into release/150, and copy both of the Pong directories
into the GAME folder on your PSP.
3.xx
Navigate into release/3xx, and copy the Pong directory into the
directory on your PSP setup to run games in 3.xx kernel mode. This
will either be GAME or GAME3xx (replace xx with your firmware
version).
Windows
No installation is required. Simply navigate into release/windows
and run pong.exe.
Linux
No installation is required. You must have SDL, SDL_image, and
SDL_ttf installed however. Simply navigate into release/linux and
run the pong executable (from the terminal, "./pong"). The
pre-compiled version of this game was built on a 64-bit operating
system, and may not work on 32-bit systems. To get it to work,
compile it from source (see below).
Controls
PSP
Menu
Up D-Pad Up
Down D-Pad Down
Select Cross or Start
Player 1 Player 2
Up D-Pad Up Up Triangle
Down D-Pad Down Down Cross
Left D-Pad Left Left Square
Right D-Pad Right Right Circle
PC
Menu
Up Arrow Up
Down Arrow Down
Select Enter or Spacebar
Player 1 Player 2
Up W Up Up Arrow
Down S Down Down Arrow
Left A Left Left Arrow
Right D Right Right Arrow
Source
Yes, I included the source. If for some reason you wish to compile it
yourself, simply navigate to the src directory and issue a "make". This
will make all of the targets and put the executables in their proper
directories in the "release" directory. If you wish to build only a
specific target, "make 150" will compile a kxploited version for 1.50
PSPs, "make 3xx" will compile a 3.xx kernel version for 3.xx PSPs, and
"make linux" will compile the application for Linux. The compiled game
will be put into its proper directory in release. There currently is no
make command for Windows, as I compiled it using Dev C++. To build the
source, you will need SDL, SDL_image, and SDL_ttf. If you wish to build
the PSP versions, you will also need to have the PSP toolchain installed.
Real developers, if you see anything that is horribly wrong in my code, please alert me. I'm still learning

News/release from Akabane
As I promised, here is my latest release of SpriteMakerXP.
This is the first time I post on this forum, but maybe you have noticed some of my homebrews.
So, back to my HB, this is a program which allows you to create a sprite resource usable in your homebrews and also in RPG Maker XP. Actually, the elements I used for this HB are those you can find in the Character Maker XP of Saphiro. But my program is (I think) better than his own and than almost I have found.
I'm sorry for those of you who can't read french, but (yes I'm french ) I'm trying to make an english translation in the next release so you can easily understand what you're doing.
what's new in v1.02:
-you can now import png files and add some features in it
-you can configure the tiles' priority for all categories (which tile is blited first, second...) (sorry, don't know how to say better)

via Eurogamer
Harmonix has told the Internet there's no point going bonkers over the European price of Rock Band, saying the game is "not magically going to get cheaper because you wish it to be so".
In a post on the Rock Band forums product development manager Greg LoPiccolo wrote, "We're not making a killing on Rock Band in Europe. We are incredibly sensitive to pricing issues. We are painfully aware that the higher the price we charge, the less copies we'll sell.
"We are strongly motivated to keep the price as low as possible. That said, we don't propose to lose money on it. The fact of the matter is, the costs of releasing in Europe are far higher than in the US, in some ways uniquely so for Rock Band compared to other game titles, because of the size of the peripherals."
LoPiccolo declined to reveal cost structure details - "That would probably get me fired, and rightly so." Instead he highlighted the extra cost involved with shipping a larger product box and doing so outside the US: "Seriously, I was shocked to learn how much it costs us to ship an RB peripherals box to Europe. It's way more than you'd expect."
According to LoPiccolo it doesn't make sense to compare the manufacturer-recommended US and UK prices for Rock Band. He wheeled out the old VAT line, stating, "That’s not the whole discrepancy, but it’s a big chunk of it." LoPiccolo also observed that European retailers are free to cut the price of games, unlike their US counterparts. "So a reasonable price comparison is what you actually pay, not just the SRP, which means two different things in the two territories.
"We’re not gouging you, primarily because doing so doesn’t serve our interests," LoPiccolo continued. "We can only build our franchise if you buy our games. You may conclude that Rock Band isn’t worth the price charged, and that is your prerogative. But it’s not magically going to get cheaper because you wish it to be so.
"We’ve sold a ton of these in the US at a far higher price point than people are used to paying for a videogame, because it really is a new and different experience... Once you get a crack at it, you’ll know whether or not it’s worth the money. We think you might decide that it is."
Earlier this week, EA announced that the full Rock Band set-up - game, drum kit, guitar and microphone - will cost GBP 180 / EUR 240, compared to USD 169 (GBP 85 / EUR 107) in the US. Harmonix's Rob Kay defended the higher price point during a chat with Eurogamer - read the full interview to find out what he had to say.
Or for a real laugh, why not read this story from May last year.

via Games Industry
Newsweek's games writer, N'Gai Croal, has expressed his concerns over the imagery depicted in the trailer for Capcom's forthcoming title Resident Evil 5, a trailer for which was shown at E3 last year.
"Wow, clearly no one black worked on this game," was his first reaction to seeing the trailer, he said in an interview with MTV Multiplayer.
"It's like when you engage that kind of imagery you have to be careful with it," he went on to explain. "It would be like saying you were going to do some sort of zombie movie that appeared to be set in Europe in the 1940's with skinny, emaciated, Hasidic-looking people.
"If you put up that imagery people would be saying, 'Are you crazy?' Well, that's what this stuff looks like. This imagery has a history. It has a history and you can't pretend otherwise.
"That imagery still has a history that has to be engaged, that has to be understood. If you're going to engage imagery that has that potential, the onus is on the creator to be aware of that because there will be repercussions in the marketplace."
The Resident Evil 5 trailer shows protagonist Chris Redfield in a small, poor and dusty village, the location of which isn't specified but is strongly reminiscent of certain third world countries.
Redfield is the only white character portrayed in the three minute trailer, while all of the zombies are made up of black inhabitants, who Redfield proceeds to try and kill - both male and female.
But Croal's argument isn't with the fact that the zombies shown were all black - it's the general treatment of the subject material that's he's concerned with.
"The point isn't that you can't have black zombies. There was a lot of imagery in that trailer that dovetailed with classic racist imagery," he said.
"That's the whole thing where only Chris Redfield appears to be human before they turn into zombies; the humanity of other people is in question. It's like you barely see their faces, he doesn't really interact with them, he sort of walks through this thing and it's sort of, 'Is he there? Is he not?'
"It's a very strange thing, and it taps into sort of this very racist iconography. I think that's the only way I'm describing it. I'm not saying that was their intent. But it seems that a lot of people who were up in arms about the trailer couldn't see that and didn't want to engage it.
"I think, again, the point is not that Capcom can't or shouldn't make a zombie game set in what appears to be an impoverished country where the majority of residents are black.
"I'm not saying that. But what I am saying is that if I was Capcom, I wouldn't have suggested to put out that trailer. I would have said, 'You know what, this has tremendous capacity for being misunderstood, and we want to signal that this is not what you might think it is' - and they didn't do that."
Initial reaction to the Resident Evil 5 trailer was mixed, with some people expressing unease at the content, while some gamers dismissed any racist connotations.
The game is set for release on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms later this year.

The new PlayStation Store will be unleashed in UK on April 15, Sony has confirmed.
The new Store, which you should have seen plenty of by now, will feature improved menus and functionality over the laggy, web browser-based original, a new preview option that lets you see videos of games before you buy them and other neat tweaks.
"On 15th April, the new look PlayStation Store, the online content store on PlayStation Network launches; bringing with it improved navigation, more functionality and a whole raft of new content," confirms Sony.
"The revamp comes in response to a survey last year which showed that many PlayStation Store users wanted a better interface and easier navigation," Sony says. See, it's good to moan.
Sony adds: "The new design will deliver a hugely improved navigation system, much greater scope for categorisation and a dynamic new user interface."
Just in case you're wondering, your current PSN account will follow you to the new store, assures Sony. "The PlayStation Store revamp will not affect PlayStation Network accounts or the virtual wallet system."
Sony has also confirmed that a content update to follow on April 17 will see the launch of the Metal Gear Solid Online Beta trial.
"To accompany the launch, the PlayStation Store will see an exciting selection of content available from 17th April, consisting of the launch of the Metal Gear Online Premiere Beta, building up to the launch of the next chapter in one of PlayStation's most loved franchises, Metal Gear Solid: Guns of the Patriots." Exciting, isn't it?
And there's more: "Also available will be Warhawk: Operation Broken Mirror, a great new addition to the hugely popular Warhawk experience and Lair: Diabolical Dragons Pack and Skyguard Upgrade pack, offering new and exciting features and functions. There will also be a collection of trailers including the latest for GTA IV, as well as a Sega Superstars tennis demo."
It is expected that the new PS Store will be delivered via a new firmware update, version 2.30, which will also pack new DTS surround sound features, although there was no mention of it in the PS Store press release.
It's all go on PS3 this month. More shots of the new PS Store can be viewed below.
