As of last Thursday, North America has Echochrome care of the PlayStation Store, but not the complete package found on the UMD version. The PSP version in Japan/Asia is a retail package with three modes: solo, pair and others. The mode where you tag shadowy echoes and journey back to the starting point is solo. Solo is the only mode available in the downloadable PSP version.
Pair has players guide four moving figures. Two are black and two are white. The goal is to get the same colored figures to tag each other to turn gray. Then you need to get the two gray figures to touch each other to clear the level.
Others is similar to solo, except you have other mannequins moving around. If you happen to bump into one of the others you’re whisked back to the last echo you touched.
While the North American PSP version is two modes less, this shouldn’t be a deal breaker. Echochrome only costs $9.99 for the PSP or PS3, the cheapest price in any region to date for both consoles. Sony Computer Entertainment Japan sold Echochrome on the PSP for 3,980 yen ($38). The slim, $9.99 downloadable PSP edition has enough content to satiate most gamers craving perspective bending puzzles. However, it is interesting that Sony Computer Entertainment America chose to release Echcohrome without the other modes. They gave North America a huge price break on Patapon, but stopped short with Echochrome. Are they planning on selling an Echochrome: Paired Shadows expansion pack in the future?
The other awkward change is the voice actress. Sony Computer Entertainment America chose to replace the English voice actress with another English voice actress. However, these voice clips may have come from the European version since the ominous voice sounds like a British accent.

EA has announced the final two cover athletes for NCAA Football 09, scheduled to hit stores across North America on July 15 from EA Sports. Former Cal wide receiver, DeSean Jackson, will be the cover athlete on PlayStation 2 while former West Virginia Mountaineer Owen Schmitt can be found on the cover of the PlayStation Portable version of the game.
In three seasons at Cal, Jackson ranks third all time in receiving yards (2,423) and third in receiving touchdowns (22). He was rated as the #1 receiver in the nation by The Sporting News and Rivals.com going into his junior campaign. Jackson was a first team All-Pac-10 selection and led the nation in average punt return yards (18.2) in his sophomore season. In the recently held NFL Draft, Jackson was selected in the second round (49th overall pick) by the Philadelphia Eagles.
Schmitt, a tough-minded fullback, finished his West Virginia Mountaineer career as one of the greatest players in school lore. In his career, Schmitt earned 21 career starts and carried the ball for 1,003 yards, a 6.3-yard average, during his Mountaineer career.
NCAA Football 09 on PlayStation 2 will feature authentic collegiate animations, an all-new Mascot Challenge and bring to life the atmosphere, pageantry and tradition of college football. The PlayStation Portable version will include arcade-influenced gameplay that throws you into the action faster than ever and brings out the fun and excitement of Big Play Saturdays. Both the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable versions of NCAA Football 09 will feature EA Sports Family Play, a fun and accessible game mode that has simplified game controls, playcalling system and playbooks.
Former Arkansas All-American Darren McFadden is the cover athlete for NCAA Football 09 on the Xbox 360 while Matt Ryan from Boston College is featured on the PlayStation 3 pack front. Also, Sparty the Spartan from Michigan State University will grace the cover on the Nintendo Wii. For each of the platforms, NCAA Football 09 brings to life the fun and excitement of gameday Saturdays and captures the true emotion of the college football experience.

SouthPeak Games announced today that it will distribute B-Boy for PlayStation 2 computer and entertainment system and PSP (PlayStation Portable) system in the U.S this summer. B-Boy allows players to prove their skills as they challenge the world's greatest breakdancers.
"B-Boy is the only game that gives players the opportunity to become premiere breakers," said Katie Morgan, Executive Vice President at SouthPeak Games. "The game's fantastic playability, dead-on authenticity and high production values give it a style all its own. While it remains true to its roots of the scene, it maintains a feel that gamers will love."
B-Boy continuously challenges players as they progress from low key neighborhood street battles all the way to high stakes world championships. While working on their skills, they will also have to confront obstacles such as building their crew and their rep by battling real-life b-boys from Europe, Asia, and North America. Pull off impossible moves and audacious combos in order to rise in rank and become number one.
Every in-game move is motion-captured from expert breakers and combined with an advanced control and animation system allowing full control of power moves, stylish freezes and flair driven combos. Players will also be able to compete in style by customizing their own b-boy or b-girl with famous brands like adidas.
Published by Evolved Games and developed by FreeStyleGames in collaboration with legend Crazy Legs, B-Boy is the first truly competitive breakdancing game, featuring over 800 motion-captured moves. The game includes Crazy Legs and the Rock Steady Crew and features 22 authentic venues including Red Bull: King of the Ring, Freestyle Sessions, UK B-Boy Championships and IBE.
Like a needle and a record, b-boys are nothing without their music that drives their culture. B-Boy also possesses a classic rich soundtrack of 35 hip-hop and funk tracks, including The Black Eyed Peas' "Bringing It Back", James Brown's "Get On The Good Foot", Cypress Hill's "The Phuncky Feel One" and Eric B and Rakim's "Don't Sweat The Technique" just to name a few.
Battles will be won and lost; reputations will be made and destroyed. Anyone can play but only the best will make it to the top.

Harmonix and MTV announced today that PS2 and Wii owners will be getting their first blast of added tracks for Rock Band in just a couple months, as Rock Band Track Pack Volume 1 is set to debut on July 15th, 2008 on both systems. This song pack features 20 tracks for $29.99, and features select songs already available for download on the core Rock Band versions.
Gamers wondered how both PS2 and Wii would receive new track updates, and we've got the answer now. As a note on pricing, the $30 tag for 20 tracks is a bargain over the single track downloads, which begin at $1.99 a song on both 360 and PS3 until they drop in price to a buck even. Track Pack Volume 1 prices each track at $1.50 total, so as long as you dig the music, you're getting a deal.
The track listing is as follows:
* 30 Seconds to Mars - The Kill
* All American Rejects - Move Along
* Blink – 182 - All the Small Things
* Boston - More Than a Feeling
* David Bowie - Moonage Daydream
* Faith No More - We Care A Lot
* Grateful Dead - Truckin'
* The Hives - Die, All Right!
* KISS - Calling Dr. Love
* Lynyrd Skynyrd - Gimme' Three Steps
* Nine Inch Nails - March of the Pigs
* Oasis - Live Forever
* Paramore - Crushcrushcrush
* The Police - Synchronicity II
* Queens of the Stone Age - Little Sister
* Ramones - Teenage Lobotomy
* Smashing Pumpkins - Siva
* Stone Temple Pilots - Interstate Love Song
* Weezer - Buddy Holly
* Wolfmother - Joker & the Thief
All 20 tracks utilize original master recordings.

Developer D2C Games (founded by Madden veteran Scott Orr), which announced $6 million in funding in mid-2007, has announced SPOGS Racing, a "frenzied, arcade-style" racing game to debut on WiiWare.
Gamasutra talked to Orr about why firm picked Wii's downloadable service over the others, and why he thinks the PSP platform is "a sleeping giant" in terms of possible sales.
You've chosen WiiWare rather than, say, Xbox Live or PSN -- why?
SO: Wii is a true mass-market platform that appeals to gamers of all ages and capabilities and is the perfect fit for the kind of games we’re developing and publishing. Yes, Wii has shown that easy-to-play games that are fun and encourage social gameplay can be very successful in a world of high-end platforms and games.
We also believe the PSP is well suited to this type of game which unfortunately has not been typical of UMD offerings to date. In fact, I believe given its installed base and increasingly strong sales, the PSP platform is a sleeping giant just waiting for the right kind of content that’s value priced and easily obtainable.
As for Xbox Live and PSN, we’ll continue to monitor their development. We are very encouraged by the success of Live, which shows that even hard-core players will pay for and play simple games that appeal to them, which up to this point have mostly been lacking in originality.

May 5th, 2008, 20:49 Posted By: wraggster
BLU-RAY PLAYER SALES are sucking wind as well they should. According to Cnet, sales of the DRM infected format players are dropping like rocks.
The not so bright people out there had expected sales to skyrocket once the format war was done, but it didn't. They thought was people would ignore the massive defects of Blu-ray and buy like the dumb sheep that they are, handcuffing themselves to the Sony bank account.
Surprise, it didn't happen. US consumers are still dumb sheep, but this time they are realizing what is being done to them and they aren't biting. Sony's hope of having 50% of disc sales this year be Blu-ray are more likely to happen because of falling DVD sales than rocketing Blu-ray.
The format has three problems, DRM infections, BD-J and greed. The greed part is obvious, Sony won the format war and are trying to charge people between 50 and 100% more for a product with marginally better quality. Sure, it looks better, and the 0.07% of people with 7.1 channel audio setups will be overjoyed, but for the rest, it is a small step at best over an upconverting DVD.
Are you going to buy the DVD version for $16.99 on new release sale or $29.99 for the BD? It doesn't take a genius to realize that the next iteration of Hollywood Formula #7 with Big Stars #3 and #8 isn't worth it. The movie studios have yet to convince me that The Water Horse is worth spending my money on at all, much less at twice the price for DRM'd HD versions.
That brings us to the next down side, there is no up, DRM. Every Blu-ray disc is DRM infected even if the producer doesn't want it to be, in order to get a company to manufacture it, it must be infected. Sony gets an infection kickback fee as well, so don't think it is purely for protection unless you mean it in the -racket sense.
Blu-ray DRM infections do not protect anything, Slysoft has cracked it with their excellent AnyDVD HD product, something I can't recommend enough. Basically, new DRM schemes are broken before you can buy discs with them on it, protecting nothing. It will however prevent legitimate users from using legally purchased media on legally purchased hardware. If you pirate though, no more compatibility issues, once again making Piracy the Better Choice (TM)(C)(R).
Basically the new format has DRM baked in and in your face. It costs you money, hurts only legitimate users, and is laughably insecure. Until it is abolished, just say no to Blu-ray and spend your money elsewhere, try books for example. If you must stoop to the DRM infected media, crack it and run it from your HD, it will save you immense frustration.
The last thing that makes people want to run for the hills is the badly broken BD-J abomination. Basically, when Blu-ray was 'finished', it wasn't close to done. HD-DVD on the other hand was well thought out and thorough, HD had a robust virtual machine that did all the work it needed to, and BD had none. Sony rushed a hacked BD v1.1 out, followed by 2.0, and instantly obsoleted all the money spent by the early adopters. All except those who bought Sony players of course.
There are two problems with this, other than the fact that morons spent money on a Sony format, it works like crap and it phones home, both comprise the third negative. Working like crap is the obvious one, to test it, look at one of the flagship titles, Pirates of the Caribbean 3. Disney insists on BD-J, customer be damned, and it shows. If you click on any of the options from the title menu, it pauses, you hear the disc seek, you wait, it loads, you wait more, and it decrypts, you wait a little more, and then the menu animates. It is nothing short of a disaster that you can't skip. Unless you pirate the title, once a gain making piracy the better choice (TM)(R)(C).
In any case, the BD-J support is so half-assed and broken that using it is nothing less than misery, but you also get the BD benefits as well. That is incompatibility and higher prices to soothe you while you wait and wait and wait. Whoever forced this on people should be shot.
The other down side is that to support the so called Profile 2.0, you must have internet capabilities and access. Anyone here trust Sony? Remember, these are the people who unashamedly rootkit paying customers and then tries as hard as they can to bury it, but never apologizes.
With the new BD Profile 2.0, they can run arbitrary code on your player, download and install whatever they want (You read the EULA didn't you?), and take any data they want. In return, you get the privilege of watching your legally purchased media on your legally purchased players. Fair trade, right? Once again, Piracy is the Better Choice(R)(TM)(C), it doesn't rat you out to unrepentant rootkitters even if they have a EULA behind them this time.
In the end, if you buy Blu-ray, you get a more expensive product that is likely incompatible with your hardware, DRM'd to the hilt, slow as dirt and it rats you out for good measure. All this for slightly better rez, be still my beating heart. Player sales are tanking when they should be soaring and Sony is probably wondering why.

A lot of New Yorkers, myself included, are getting a little extra kick out of the vibe of Grand Theft Auto IV's Liberty City, which recalls our home boroughs with just enough accuracy to be disorienting.
The farmacias and bodegas in East Holland, the Starbucks-esque cup in every hand, the prevalence of "Craplist" social interaction, even the thriving Russian community beside the boardwalk in Hove Beach where the story begins all capture that tickly feeling of home. But MTV Multiplayer's Stephen Totilo notes that from Bohan to Schottler, there are a few things about New York that GTA IV gets wrong, and he's compiled a tongue-in-cheek list of eight key items that are, as he says, "grossly misrepresented."
1. We are not a car town: No sensible New Yorker uses a car as their primary means of transportation in the city, unless — maybe — they commute from the suburbs. Car ownership doesn't make much sense. There are never any parking spots. Parking garages are prohibitively expensive. And, most importantly, the subway is a faster, cheaper and more efficient means of transportation. We don't drive here. Niko, to be a real New Yorker, should rely on the subway. But what would he be left to grandly thieve?
True enough. Certainly, in New York, only rich commuters who live in swanky penthouses or in the outlying boroughs have cars. Rent here for the average denizen is pricey enough without the cost of gas and parking — and, that aside, I'd never even think of owning a car here just due to the crushing traffic and inconvenience.
But there are a lot of cars here nonetheless, and having been many times a pedestrian nearly clipped by some crazy speeder cornering badly, it's a fun turnabout to be behind the wheel this time. If you do happen to be in a car, people always seem to be wandering into the crosswalk at the worst of times — that, at least, is accurate.
Totilo picks more hangups: There are no dinosaurs at the Met! Times Square — er, Star Junction — should be much more congested with pedestrians, it's true. And bagels are a quintessential part of our diet, unobtainable in Liberty City.
8. We eat bagels: Have I missed something or is it not possible to eat a bagel in "Grand Theft Auto IV"'s Liberty City? Niko can eat burgers, hot dogs and go to diners. But bagels? The most famous New York City food? Never fear, visitors to our town, we have bagels that can be eaten and enjoyed, whether Liberty City acknowledges it or not. Burgers? Waste of time. You can eat them in any town.
Two more that he missed: First, why do Liberty City's pedestrians walk so slowly? You can always spot a tourist as the one who's ambling casually down the sidewalk, neck craned upward to eyeball the skyscrapers. But real New Yorkers, everyone knows, walk at a breakneck pace, head down, heedless of who they shoulder aside, as we are all on the way to someplace very important and you'd better get out of the way.
And finally, where are Manhat— um, Algonquin's legions of tiny, tiny little doggies? It's the must-have accessory for Upper East Siders. We don't mean to quibble with such a fantastic game world, but, you know.

New Zealand's Office of Film and Literature had to reiterate this week that store clerks can't sell Grand Theft Auto IV to parents purchasing it for their children. The New Zealand Herald reports the office had to repeat itself after receiving calls from clerks who didn't know what to do when a parent "demanded" to buy GTA IV with their 14-year-old in tow.
GTA IV is rated R18 by the New Zealand government and it's illegal to make it available to anyone under that age. In New Zealand, even if it's their own kid, the adult could be jailed for 90 days or pay $10,000 fine; however, the law has never been enforced.

News/release from Yan2yan
This is the final version of my lib TimeManager, which allows management easier time in C / C + +.
The problem with the C library is that you can not create a timer at a time, this is becoming embarrassing if one wants to create several. And that's where POO makes sense: C + +, it is no longer limited to a single timer, you can create as you want!
Downloads:
TimeManager - Lib C
TimeManager - Class C + +
TimeManager - Sample C
Note that I did not compile the C + +, because it can serve as a basis for understanding the POO
Also note that I still maintained the C lib, add a few new features listed below.
What's new?
-- Can stop the timer
-- The possibility of recovering the time in hours and minutes
With the C + +, you are no longer limited to a single timer
How you use them?
In C, eboot an example, as well as the header should be sufficient to understand the workings
In C + +, it must first include the header:
Code:
# include "timeManager.h"
Then, out of loop, we create our purpose timer:
Code:
timer_TimeManager Timer;
Then you will have access to all available functions in the header:
Code:
Void timer_start ();
Void timer_stop ();
Void timer_reset ();
Void timer_startPause ();
Void timer_endPause ();
u64 timer_getTimeMicroSec ();
u64 timer_getTimeMilliSec ();
u64 timer_getTimeSec ();
u64 timer_getTimeMin ();
u64 timer_getTimeHours ();
It is used as follows:
Code:
Timer.timer_start ();
And so on ...

a thresher shark and become king of the ocean. On normal difficulty the
player starts as a Sea Urchin (level 2). Hit the blue striped
targets to collect evolution up. Collect eight and move up a level to Sea
Horse (level 3). Miss a target that collides with you and move down to
