The site, which promises to give GTA IV gamers a chance to compare game statistics whether they play on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, invites gamers to ‘pre-register’ from tomorrow. The Social Club is open to anyone with an Xbox Gamertag or a PlayStation Network ID and offers gamers the chance to win awards.
Features of the social site include the LCPD Police Blotter, a virtual map that tracks the most dangerous areas of Liberty City, and the Story Gang – a single player leaderboard.
Other features comprise the 100 per cent club, where the first to complete 100 per cent of the game are recognised, and the Liberty City Marathon, a ranking of milestones achieved in the game.
Rockstar has revealed the Social Club will be available for all of their future titles, and is believed to be the first time cross platform gamers have been able to compare statistics.

News/release from andyauff
This is a little game I made for a contest over at evilmana.com. It doesn't use any external images, and the entire script is only 4.88 kb (5006 bytes). It is called "Box Maze", and the object is to collect as many green boxes as possible before the timer reaches 20. When you touch the green box, you gain a point, you are returned to the starting place, and the green box randomly reappears somewhere else on the screen. You can also not touch the black box or you die. You can go off the screen, though, and you will have to in order to get to the green boxes (that is part of the fun of the game). When you go off the screen to the left, you appear on the right, and vice versa, and when you go off on the top, you appear on the bottom, and vice versa. This is just the version I made for the contest... I do plan on extending it to make the game more fun. In case you're wondering, I plan on making a "basement" that you can access by going down a ladder. Sometimes the green boxes will appear on the 1st floor, sometimes in the basement. I'm also open to suggestions.
This is compatible with both PSP Phats and Slims thanks to Homemeister and PiCkDaT's Luaplayer HM 5.

A demo of Free Radical's PS3 shooter Haze is hitting PSN in early May.
It'll include support for four-player drop-in/out co-op play on top of vanilla single-player. We've uploaded a screenshot from the demo for you.
Haze has been given numerous release dates but earlier in the month Ubisoft finally nailed it down for May 23.
In April Free Radical confirmed with CVG that Haze was only being developed for PS3, burying speculation on PC and Xbox 360 versions.

Grand Theft Auto IV is set to rack up USD 400 million in its first week and sell 6 million copies, according to a Variety report.
The article quotes "sources close to publisher Take-Two" as having supplied those predictions. "Though they rarely release the data, videogame publishers are able to accurately predict early game sales based on what retailers order," apparently.
Halo 3 previously enjoyed the biggest launch of any videogame in history, with USD 300 million made in its first week on sale and 5 million units shifted. But as Variety points out, that was an Xbox 360 exclusive - while GTA IV is coming out on PS3 too. On April 29th, in case you'd forgotten.
If Rockstar's latest effort does break the USD 400 million barrier, it could go on to beat the biggest grossing film of all time - Pirates of the Caribbean, which made USD 404 million at the box office.
In case you were wondering, 21.5 million copies of previous instalment Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas have now been sold.

The Japanese PlayStation.com site was updated recently with a mysterious new game detail page.
The page shows a countdown atop a red-colored puddle, with a looping track of static and the panicked English voices of a man and woman as background sound. To the right of the page is half of what appears to be the Japanese alphabetic character for the sound "Sa."
Given the general creepiness of the page, there's some speculation that this is a teaser for a new game from the team that made Siren, one of last gen's spookiest franchises.
The countdown is at 45 hours as of this writing, so details will presumably be announced on Friday.
See the creepy PlayStation.com game page for yourself here.

Sony has said that the slow speeds of thumbnail graphic downloads on the new PlayStation Store are down to demand.
"We are aware that many of you have experienced delays whilst the PS Store's thumbnail icons are being downloaded," community team leader Lestrade wrote on the official PS3 forum.
"This is a temporary consequence of a new system implementation and high global traffic levels, and will be resolved within the next few days."
The redesigned store launched yesterday and no longer runs in the console's web browser. You will need firmware 2.30 to access it, so head off to that System Update screen and put the kettle on.
In addition to the fancy new Store, this week will also bring with it the Metal Gear Online beta, which goes live tomorrow, a new Warhawk expansion and a patch for Lair that adds analogue controls.

Sony has announced the DualShock 3 controller, complete with rumble feature, will be released in Australia on April 24th.
It'll cost AUD 99.95, equivalent to GBP 47 / EUR 59. In the US the controller is priced at USD 54.99 (GBP 28 / EUR 35).
So can we expect a similar mark-up when DualShock 3 hits Europe? Sony's keeping quiet for now, and there's no word on a release date either.
"The date in the Australian press release refers to the Australian market only," the company said in a statement.
"Whilst DS3 will come to all SCEE territories at some point, at the moment we are not in a position to announce exactly when or confirm a price."

The bloody countdown timer on the Sony Japan site is for a fresh Siren game on PS3.
Japanese magazine Famitsu (translated by Kotaku) unearthed the game's title as Siren New Translation, and said it would be a reworking of Forbidden Siren from 2003.
Apparently those in Japan can expect the game as early as July, with a demo due out on 24th April.
Unfortunately Sony Europe offered no comment on the game's Western whereabouts.
Forbidden Siren was dreamt up by the director of Silent Hill, Keiichiro Toyama, and was wonderfully bonkers if a little tricky to get into. It went a little unnoticed, bizarrely, but both it and its sequel are worth looking into.

Apparently the Lite-On DH-401S Drive can dump PS3 Games onto a Windows PC, one day it may be of use but for now its at least of interest to hackers looking for some type of hack to run homebrew hopefully.

Here is a brand new shiny port of OpenBOR now running on PS3 Linux by your's truly!!!
Just in case you guys don't know what OpenBOR is... Its very custimizable engine that is used for recreating old school side-scrolling bashers. Streets of Rage, Final FIght and so on... The original creators of the BOR engine can be found here: http://www.senileteam.com and the official OpenBOR site is http://www.lavalit.com (my site).
So here are the steps to get it running:
Grab the source here: svn co https://openbor.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/openbor
Required Libs prior to compilation: libSDL, libSDL_gfx, LibSDL_mixer, LibSDL_image, zlib and libpng.
Automated Building type: ./build.sh
Manual Building type:
source environ.sh 4
make BUILD_LINUX=1
Automated
If you have used the automated process then under releases directory you will have a LINUX folder, Go to my site (http://www.lavalit.com - registration required) and download a few mods aka pak files and place them in the Paks folder.
Manual
If you did not use the automated build system then create the following directories along side of the executable (case sensitive):
Paks, Logs, Saves, ScreenShots
Place the xbox/data/menu.pak into the Paks directory and the mods you downloaded from my site (http://www.lavalit.com - registration required) also into the Paks directory.
Note: Make sure all the directories have 777 for permissions.
Now you are ready for some good old school bashing!

Sony, you tease! You go and finally put the 80 GB PS3 / Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle up at SonyStyle, complete with a SKU and price point, but you're not taking pre-orders? We just get to look at the thing? Can we touch it? Just for a second? We won't tell. Anyway, as expected, the PS3 / MGS4 bundle will be available in June at $499.99 complete with a DUALSHOCK3 wireless controller. Let's hope that "notify me" button says "add to cart" some time soon.

A new Metal Gear Solid-branded bluetooth headset is being released at the same time as the fourth instalment in the series.
According to Kotaku, it'll cost USD 60 - so GBP 120 over here, most likely. It has a 30-foot range and talktime of up to eight hours, plus an auto-off function to conserve battery life. You also get a carry case.
The headset will work with bluetooth-enabled mobiles plus of course all other PS3 titles supporting voice chat. It's out on June 12th, just like Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

Alone in the Dark is due out for Xbox 360, PC, PS2 and Wii on 24th June.
Pop over to Eurogamer Germany for the entire preview, or head to our Alone in the Dark gamepage for some English-language coverage.

via Eurogamer
Konami has released a few more details about the Metal Gear Online beta, which is due to kick off on Monday 21st April.
In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Konami Online's Brandon Laurino reveals that each beta participant will have a single character slot to play with, allowing them to personalise an in-game avatar and customise/upgrade skills.
Each player can pick four skills to specialise in out of a list that includes CQC, knife fighting, quickness, alertness, heavy weaponry mastery, demolition and sniper mastery. "Talking for hours about Gozilla" isn't listed.
From there you're taken to a lobby screen for joining a game, and then it's into battle.
Once you're in the fray, you're able to keep up with what your team-mates are up to thanks to the game's nanomachine-based SOP (Sons of the Patriots) System, which identifies your comrades, pinpoints them and even tells you how they are and who they're fighting.
It's also possible to scan the opposing team's SOP link, which is bound to be useful to you and your team-mates.
As previously discussed, the beta features two of the full game's five maps - Blood Bath, a "kill house consisting of both surface and underground areas", and Groznyi Grad, a "now abandoned weapons factory that housed the Shagohod in Metal Gear Solid 3" featuring "open areas offering unobstructed views as well as indoor and rooftop locations".
Gameplay modes are deathmatch, team deathmatch, Base Mission (capture and hold) and Capture Mission (CTF) for up to 16 players, and the PlayStation Blog post also has a list of available items, including all your old favourites - claymores, stun grenades, magazines and cardboard boxes.
As we already know, the beta client file will be available to download from Thursday, 17th April, and the actual test will last from 21st April to 6th May (and not June as we originally said - sorry about that).
And if you'd like to be told some of the above again in far more detail, then check out our Metal Gear Online first impressions from a while back. The full thing - sorry, the Starter Pack - ships as part of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots worldwide on 12th June.
