via Eurogamer
Sony has told Eurogamer that it is unaware of any issues regarding the mysterious PS3 error codes supposedly popping up around the world.
The allegedly cursed number is 80010514. It relates to a faulty sector on the hard drive and faulty installation of firmware updates, according to GameRevolver.
There's advice to avoid this by following the correct procedure when installing updates, using a stable Internet connection to download and dust your machine to stop heat issues and other glitches occurring.
Despite the problem being unrelated to the hardware, your system will apparently still need replacing if the error occurs.
So is this a serious problem, or just Internet bunkum? An SCE UK spokesperson told us, "I've spoken to our Customer Services department and they aren't aware of this issue with the PS3." Make of that what you will. And many of you probably will.

Time Baby V14
Looks like I lied, and the last one wasn't the final.
Here's a update with a new feature provided by AhMan.
An alarm can be set to trigger the transmission of an infrared code
that could be used to wake you up in the morning to your TV or HiFi stereo!
Thanks to Memory Stick donors. They are much appreciated.
I still maintain the program will recieve no more major updates,
another donation might prompt another one, and get your nick on the greetings screen.
Memory Stick donors will also be given a way to skip intro credits permanently.
Time Baby is tested with 3.03 OE, and 3.52 M33 firmware versions,
and may also work with newer firmwares that support the 1.50 kernel mode addon.
It is not compatible with the PSP Slim & Lite.

The engineers at Sony can't be too thrilled with fighting the constant battle against PSP hackers, issuing firmware updates that "strengthen security" in a futile attempt to curb piracy and homebrew applications. Going by a recent survey commissioned by Sony Computer Entertainment, passed on to us by a reader who was asked to take part, the company seems to be looking into the reasons why PSP owners are opening up their portables.
Sony reps call the survey a part of "ongoing PSP consumer research", attempting to learn more about the size of the PSP hacking population and the mentality behind the behavior. Questions like "Do you know of anyone who has "hacked," or modified, transferred and customized their PSP firmware and software?" were included elsewhere in the poll.
We're following up with Sony to learn more about its research.

New Improved visual install proceedure
New Motherboard detection using Pommel, Tachyon & Baryon values. (Now displays your PSP model ie. TA-079.)
New Displays the available free space on your memory stick which updates as the install proceeds.
Renamed the Clean Nand items in Utilities menu, to stop confusion of people thinking it's installing the clean nands to the actual psp without creating a nand backup.
Added 390 Kernel 150 Addon
Removed writing of the full eeprom to the battery
New Dark AleX's Time Machine IPL can now be installed from the IPL menu, this also installs the config file which contains the LTrigger for booting to UPMS. Now no need to convert Pandora's IPL or install the IPL, just launch Time Machine from the Utilities Menu then select the firmware you want to install.
Disabled the battery menu for the latest PSP Slims V2.
New Random Serial Generator for when you want to make your Pandora Battery normal, creates a randomly generated hex number.
Now installs Despertar Cementerio V5 (TheJoker has had to be removed)
New Features: - Ultimate Loader
Firmware installation:
352M33 via Hellcats Menu
DCv3
DCv4
DCv5
New PSP Motherboard detection
New Reboot to XMB option added. (TA-082 has troubles with display after reboot)
Added Free Memory Stick Space for visual confirmation.
Added Nand Backup direct from Ultimate Loader. (For Fat & Slim PSP's)
Added IDStorage Key Backup direct from Ultimate Loader. (For Fat & Slim PSP's)
Removed NandManager as NandTool by Cory is UPMS-Projects preferred backup/restore tool
You now can't use the excuse of I didn't create a nand backup because you won't be able to continue any firmware install, unless you have one either dumped via UL or Nandtool and this has to match the PSP's unique ID number.
After you have selected a firmware option to install, UL will either ask you to make a Nand, IDS Key Dump or both, unless you have a dump that matches that PSP.
We hope you enjoy this release.
UPMS-Project Team
We have done our best to test every feature of the Installer and UL, you may encounter some graphic glitches while using them, but this won't effect an install.

News/release from feddemaster:
Hiya.
Some time ago I wanted to check some backgrounds for my PSP but my stick was full and I didn't feel like sacrificing something else so I decided to make a little app for it. What it does is basically showing you on your PC how an image would look on your PSP.
I made it for myself in the first place, but I thought maybe a few people would be interested. To the rest of you who are not interested, just don't say anything.

.NET Framework 2.0 required probably

From the official site:
Im sure most of you have noticed recently the site has been slow, full of SQL errors and lord knows what.
Well we noticed too! So we have now moved on to a nice new dedicated server, which should have less trouble handling the load (and give ngemu.com some breathing space). You might notice a couple of small problems for a few days as we iron things out but most things should be fully functional. Its not cheap (about $160 USD per month) so any help via the donation button at the bottom of the page would be appreciated!
Sorry for the inconvenience caused and i hope everything is much better for you all from here on in! A big thank you to Falcon4ever for working so hard to get everything across. You've done a marvelous job.

A Ubisoft spokesperson has told Eurogamer that Haze will "definitely" be released on 23rd May.
The news follows much confusion over when the game will be released.
Haze is a PS3-exclusive shooter from Free Radical that sees you fighting a gigantic private military company.
Mantel, as it's known, gives soldiers a drug called Nectar. This boosts their performance to super-human levels. But it also leaves them with various weaknesses, which you and your rebel forces will have to exploit in order to win the day.

GameTap has finally gotten a chance to share the previously embargoed details of its recent hands-on time with Grand Theft Auto IV. The preview discusses four of the game's fifteen online modes: Team Deathmatch, GTA Race, Cops 'N Crooks (a Counter-Strike style team match) and Hangman's Noose (a co-operative escort mission).
Among the interesting details discussed (some of which have also been revealed elsewhere):
Previously rumored 16-player online play is confirmed.
The online maps aren't changed in any way from single-player -- you can still drive vehicles from one end of the city to the other, if you want.
There's no co-op option for the single-player missions, but many online modes allow for cooperation.
Ranked online matches earn players in-game cash for character customization. Higher difficulty means more cash.
Race mode can be played with or without weapons.
The volume of other characters voices will vary depending on their distance from you. "So if you hear an enemy's voice, he's probably right behind you and it's too late."
The most telling quote in the preview is Vice President of Game Development Geronimo Barrera's suggestion that "after players earn the cell phone in the single-player game (which takes about five minutes), if they want they can jump online and never even play the single-player again." With the extremely varied multiplayer options, we might just be taking him up on that.
Note: GameTap's servers are getting hit pretty hard, so the Read link may not load for a while.

UK gamers who didn't pre-order Grand Theft Auto IV might have a hard time getting their hands on the title when it's released April 29. MCV reports that major retailers across the UK are struggling to keep up with early demand for Rockstar North's upcoming game, and anticipate shortages around the time of release.
A representative from UK retailer Play.com states that GTAIV is already the best-selling title on PS3, according to their records, but hopes to have enough copies in stock on launch day to accommodate customers who didn't pre-order. GAME, meanwhile, is already anticipating shortages, with a message on their website alerting customers that pre-ordered any later than April 6 that they may not receive the title on launch day. Fearing a similar shortage, Gamestation has stopped taking pre-orders altogether. We're not entirely sure, but we think Rockstar may be on to something with this "Grand Theft Auto" business.

Now we're talking Sony, this is the type of integration we expect to see on the heels of your promise to cash in on portable video after losing the audio battle to Apple. As a Blu-ray recorder, the BDZ-A70 features all the in/outs you'd expect and recording to a 320GB (the new BDZ-T90 offers 500GB) disk or dual-layer BD-RE media from a host of analog and digital tuners. Great, but what's most notable here is the new one-touch video transfer to Sony's PSP, select mobile phones including NTT DoCoMo's FOMA 905i, and video Walkmans like Sony's new NW-A820. As you may have noticed, those last two are Japanese products. Appropriate given the Japan-only launch of these players in April for about ¥170,000 ($1,658). Still, we're pretty sure they'll go global soon enough.

News of an updated version of the Internet Radio Player from freeplay:
FreePlay presents FreeRadio - a completely serverless radio player portal for firmware 3.80 (and above?)
Version 1.8 is here, at long last. Not much to report, unfortunately, but it's a bit faster now.
Quote:
Version 1.8, 4/7/2008
Adopted 'iFreeRadio' skin as default
Improved code so pages should load/scroll slightly faster
Removed unused code that was taking up memory
That's all; no new features, just code improvement to make it faster and more stable. I've been trying to figure out more features to add... let me know what you'd like and I'll see if I can do anything.

Updated release from Freeplay:
New version: Unpacks the original PTF as a whole, rather than just the raw files. Also unpacks patch-only files to a 'patch-only' folder. (Attached.)
I have no idea if there are public tools available for un-converting the images :/ I don't keep up with the theme scene very much. I just made this because I came up with the idea.

News/release from MrX256
This is just a basic game I created while learning LUA script.
Basically, you nuke whales for fun and get some points in return.
As it is still a beta there is no end to the level and the points don't mean anything.
There are still some bugs too.
Read Me included in download.
Should be 1000 & 2000 series compatible.
