Sony has refused to comment on reports that the PS3 video store will be launched in conjunction with E3 in mid-July.
A video-on-demand service has been officially confirmed in the past, but Sony is yet to announce a release date for the service.
According to reports, US-based magazine EGM says that the video store for PS3 will go live around E3, to which Sony responded with the usual line: "we do not comment on rumour or speculation."
That reply also goes for the other EGM-derived rumour of a "transforming" PS3 pad to be revealed at E3. Sounds a bit far-fetched to us, anyway.
If you missed it, Sony showed a glimpse of what appeared to be the new video store in a recent PS3 advertisement boasting, among others, MTV, NBC and Cartoon Network logos.
We expect to hear more on it and the much-requested in-game communication features soon.

With developer Harmonix still maintaining that £180 is a fair price for Rock Band, Play has seen sense and knocking 40-quid off the RRP.
Play first cut £30 from the price of the 'Band in the Box' instrument pack. So you can get a set of drums, guitar and microphone for less than one hundred pounds.
The company then pulled a tenner off the game disc, which brings the cost down to a more reasonable total of £139.99.
Of course, that 'reasonable total' is only relative to the £179.99 price point that the majority of shops are selling it for. Expect to see other retailers to follow suit. We hope...

2K and Take-Two have both held their hands up and confirmed BioShock is coming to PS3 this October.
We brought you first news of a PS3 version - via a PSM3 mag feature - last week. There's no word on what the new content might be, but it will feature all the extra fixes and Plasmids the 360 received via DLC.
"Since BioShock for Xbox 360 and PC won countless 2007 Game of the Year awards, we are excited to see the impact of this stellar title for the PlayStation 3 when it debuts this fall," said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K.
"Over the coming months we look forward to revealing the new features and content that will make this a must-have game for its new audience, as well as for those who enjoyed it on the other platforms."
Nothing above what we already knew then.

Famitsu has got details of the Japanese release of the Metal Gear Solid 4 soundtrack for us this morning - not terribly comprehensive details, but a taster at least of what those of you who've pre-ordered the UK special edition of the game will be getting for your extra cash.
Launching in Japan as a standalone package today (with an appropriately moody looking close-up of Snake's wrinkly face on the cover), the soundtrack comes on a single CD and contains 47 tracks.
It's composed, as ever, by the series' musical stalwarts Nobuko Toda and Harry Gregson-Williams, and on past experience, we'd suggest avoiding track listings if you don't want major spoilers.
This is, presumably, the same disc that you'll be getting if you pre-ordered the £79.99 special edition of Metal Gear Solid 4 from Play.com. You'll also get a six-inch figurine and a "Making Of" Blu-Ray disc.
If you just fancy picking up the soundtrack on its own, however, the Japanese standalone soundtrack costs 3045 Yen, which is about fifteen quid (or 19 Euro) in real money.

Pssxp is a homebrew snowboarding game made by me, Buddy4point0. In Pssxp, you're the snowboarder. Guide yourself down the slopes while avoiding trees, rocks, and snowmen, collect powerups and gain points. Try to beat all of the many difficulty settings and levels. Go ahead and take a run at everlasting mode and try to beat your highscore, have your family and friends try to beat your score too! I've put a lot of work into this game so give it a try and I guarantee you'll enjoy it.
Sorry about 1.2 not working. It worked up until I complied it so I didn't know until people started reporting it not working. The problem was that the complier uses lua 5.1 but luaplayer .16 uses lua 5.0. Therefore everyone got errors that the version of lua (5.1) was too high for the luaplayer (5.0) That was a big whoops on my part, so I'm sorry about that.
But enough of the bad news, time for the good news!
Version 1.2b not only has a working version of everything 1.2 had but it also has a few major improvements!
- Compiled script works (Big whoops with 1.2)
- Uses luaplayer .20 not .16
- Alot more random combinations of trees, snowmen, and rocks (huge improvement)
- Small bugfixes
- Custom Game mode removed
- Bug with Quitting (sometimes)
And in case you missed Version 1.2 (broken) here are the changes for it.
- new scoring system in everlasting mode, with point bonus powerups
- new unlockable menu
- unlockable skifree inspired ending after level 3 is completed
- Graphical Upgrades including shadows
- game now runs at default clock speed (222), previously ran at max clock speed (333)
- new loading screen
- Cleaned up code alot, faster code
- smaller overall filesize
- new data input system
- Other small changes and bugfixes (too many and too small to list)
Also as a special treat for messing up version 1.2, I think you guys have waited long enough to see the yeti.
(But you'll still have to unlock it to see the whole animation double-muahahahaha)
To install simply extract the zip file, then copy the Pssxp1.2b folder into you GAME150 folder and run from the game menu.

The Unknown Jap Coder whom we think maybe Ruka has released yet another version of the Snes emulator for the PSP, with this version it seems that adhoc is back and according to users this is the best version of the Snes emulator so far.
But use your own judgement.

Uberjack posted this news on his site:
In open defiance of all that is sane, I actually got a chance to lay some significant groundwork towards ad-hoc networking. The recent addition is pretty significant, and if all goes well, an ad-hoc capable emulator should not be too far off. (And yes, that is ridiculously vague, but my work [definition: annoyance that pays the bills] and family obligations make precise estimations all but impossible. And let’s not forget about the greatest game ever made being out.)
It has also been brought to my attention that FMPAC still doesn’t function correctly in fMSX PSP, so look forward to a fix of that as well.

Niko Bellic actor Michael Hollick has said he was "almost more ready for [critical] backlash than for anything else" in the run up to Grand Theft Auto IV release.
He was speaking on the Big O & Dukes radio show on WJFK-FM (spotted by Kotaku), and talked about the huge secrecy surrounding the project; apparently he only found out the name of his character two weeks after signing lengthy confidentiality agreements.
"When I first auditioned for [the game] I didn't even know what I was auditioning for. They said it was a game called Frozen," explained Hollick using his regular American accent in case you're wondering. "I forget what the character name was, but it wasn't Niko."
Hollick originally auditioned to do the motion-capture work for Niko, but having heard him speaking the lines, Rockstar decided to let him do the voice for the character as well.
In total, Hollick reckons it took around 18 months to record all of his speaking and movement for Niko. The game was tackled in chunks, with scripts sometimes hundreds of pages long per section.
The motion capture was be recorded first and with the other actors around. And then, sometimes months later, he went to a studio on his own to do facial animations and voice work.
The worst days were when he faced "50 pages of screaming", apparently, doing things like "Niko falling off a motorcycle into the ocean [and] drowning".
"I knew enough about videogames that [GTA IV] was different off the bat. There was a great sense while we were doing it that this was something special," added Hollick.
Apparently Hollick was never much of a gamer and so found it "thrilling and fascinating" to see how much went into GTA IV. He likes videogames now, but says he's rubbish at them and gets Niko killed fairly quickly when playing.
His popularity has increased, too - now that his name is correctly listed on IMDB.
"I'm getting crazy hits on my MySpace page," said Hollick, before adding that he and his wife - also an actor for the game - did some "interesting role-playing" when he got home from work.
He has few plans for Niko Bellic going forward, but one his friend has suggested doing a Christmas album in the style of the Serbian gangster, which should be interesting.

I havent gone mad and this isnt a double post but today CaptainMorgan4 announced on our forums that he has also released a Daedalus r14 beta (Nintendo 64 emu for PSP)
Heres what CaptainMorgan4 posted about this release:
New Features Implemented in R-14beta:
- Dynarec Stack Optimisation = small speedup (located in the Rom Preferences)
- Highlight Inexact Blend Modes = replaces inexact blend modes with a placeholder texture (located in Global Settings)
- VFPU TnL = acceleration of vertex transform and lighting / small speedup (located in Global Settings)
- Clear Fragment Cache = clears the contents of the dynarec fragment cache / do this before loading a new game to avoid freezes and such (located after pausing a rom, works great too)
- Font in GUI has been altered (view pictures below)
The ME work on it is only partially done so the sound doesn't lag quite as much as R13 and it's slightly less gargled.

Activision has released a video showing off the new drum kit controller set to ship for Guitar Hero World Tour, and it's much better than Rock Band's, promise.
As you can see demonstrated by drum men of Blink 182, The Police and Red Hot Chilli Peppers, the Guitar Hero drums are velocity sensitive and have two cymbals. So basically the harder you hit it, the louder the sound. That's what a drum kit does anyway.
The forth title in the series goes beyond drums and down the full-on the Rock Band route, with vocals bass and guitar and also supported.
Excitingly, there's a bit more customisation this time around as well, letting you modify the crap out of in-game tracks and even design your own record sleeve - though we're less excited about that one.
Confirmed bands so far consist of Van Halen, The Eagles, Linkin Park and Sublime. Expect it before the year's end.

It's so refreshing to see screenshots of Snake sneaking around somewhere other than the yellow dusty town seen in all previous MGS4 imagery.
You've got 19 new screens to drool over here, showing more of Raiden, a Metal Gear in a Shadow Moses-like snowy environment, and other stuff. Although be careful if you're on a plot black-out, Konami says they contain spoilers.
They'll make you want to play, but you'll have to wait for June 12. Until then, read hands-on impressions and all sorts here.

News flash: Europeans love Solid Snake. We'll bet you're surprised to read that, so we'll wait until you've regained consciousness to move on ... Okay, good. CVG is reporting via the ever-reliable NeoGAF forums (we think it's this thread, although that's unconfirmed) that the following scores have been given to Metal Gear Solid 4:
- PlayStation Official Magazine (UK): 10/10
- PlayStation Official Magazine (US): 10/10
- PlayStation Official Magazine (Italy): 10/10
- PlayStation Official Magazine (Dutch): 9.6/10
- Level (Sweden): 10/10
- Joypad (France): 19/20
- Jeuxvideo Magazine (France): 18/20
As of this writing, the only confirmed score is the POM UK via Metacritic. And though we wouldn't be surprised if these ended up being the review scores (or pretty close to them) – the MGS brand has been known to rake in high numbers – it's just a forum rumor for now.

That ultra-limited edition MGS4 gunmetal grey PS3, that's so limited only Japan and US are getting it? Well, Korea's getting it now, too.
So, living in what we thought was one of the three major videogaming territories in the world, we have to ask the question: Where's the love, Sony?
According to Kotaku, the slick MGS4 bundle, which contains an awesome, grey 40GB PS3 with the game and a DualShock 3 controller, will be made available to Korean gamers.
No luck for us lot though, as Sony is yet to include Europe in the party.
No-doubt they'll turn up on eBay with insane Buy It Now price tags, so you could import one - PS3 games are region-free, remember. Trouble is, Blu-Ray films are region locked, so you're buggered there.
Meanwhile, if you didn't get your name down for a special edition version of the game that will be sold here - which comes with an action figure and other special goodies - you might be too late. Play has stopped taking pre-orders on the exclusive pack, with only the standard version up for grabs.
You snooze you lose.

EA will throw new Army of Two co-op and multiplayer maps onto XBL and PSN this week - for free!
The Veteran Map Pack will hit both consoles on May 29 - that's this Thursday - packing two new co-op missions. One places you underground in a subway station in Kiev where you must "find and destroy the central hub of a dangerous militia."
The other, as EA explains, takes you "back to SSC headquarters in Miami where they finally get the chance to take out Dalton, Rios and Salem's ex-boss and the man responsible for framing them, in an intense boss fight".
And for the multiplayer mode, you'll get the China Canal Lock map. And you won't have to pay a penny.
Check out the new levels in action in the video to the right. That's free, too.

We hoped to have Home on our PS3s round about now - before Sony delayed it to later this year, but we've got some new media for the wait.
It looks like Sony has made a virtual version of the PlayStation even that it held in the London O2 dome a few weeks back (although it looks nothing like the Indigo2 venue, we might add), with trailers and other assets from the day running in billboards in the background.
We hope to be getting involved in an early beta version of the virtual world soon. We'll let you know when it happens.

Sony has told Eurogamer that it will not be publishing Afrika in Europe.
The spokesperson was unable to give anything else away, other than to confirm that it will be seeing the light of day in Japan.
Japan, incidentally, is where the third official sighting of the elusive wildlife game has recently taken place in the form of a placeholder website, which shows a rhino waddling across the screen over the words "Coming Soon...".
The only other times Afrika has stuck its neck out was at its E3 2006 unveiling and at the Tokyo Game Show last year.
Afrika is a safari game that has animals like giraffes, rhinos, lions and more roaming around the plains. Details on what you're supposed to do to these are unclear, although we presume that hunting them down and sticking their heads on your wall may not be it.

A milestone. In Japan, Sony Computer Entertainment has announced that a million PS3 users have signed up for PSN accounts since the PLAYSTATION Network went live in November 2006. Every month, approximately 400,000 players access the PSN's PLAYSTATION Store. To celebrate, Sony is giving away one thousand ¥1,000 PLAYSTATION Network Tickets for use in the PLAYSTATION Store. That's nice of Sony!
