WIP news from slicer4ever
ok i'm at the stage where i need a gfx artist(see pic's below) and is why i'm making this wip thread for now
(for all those wondering pixel attack's compatability issue is on hold until i get my laptop back)
anywho, basically i'm writing pool for the psp, i felt that i wanted to do it, and see if i could do all the calculations myself....and i did=-), anyways most of the hard work is finally done=-), now i simple need a gfx artist, and a few more lines of code for taking into account special rules and crap, and i should be done=-)
anyways some pics while you wait(i know their is no pool table i just have to change the dimension's to take into account the pool table's size, watever it may be at the end):
video: http://elitehax.com/psp/PSPBillards.wmv <-- made by HaroldBawls
notes:
the collision between the actual ball, and the, wat i dub "overlap", ball is just a tiny bit off, as you'll see in the video and well be fixed by the time of the release, also the video has brought a new problem to my attention, which you'll see when HaroldBawls make's his first shot, somehow the ball.....changes color¿, and i'm uncertain of how it attained that ability, but it well be fixed by the release i promise
anyways i'll be back tommorow(pop in later tonight...maybe), hope ppl well help me otherwise, you'll have to settle with my own gfx's when the game is done

What this? Best Buy finally released the Insignia NS-BRDVD blu-ray player for an affordable $349.99. The design, like other in-house Insgnia-branded products, is questionable, but if you were looking into the PS3 as a player, this could be a $50 cheaper option if games aren't your thing. The unit outputs at 1080P, decodes Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD, and decodes 2-channel Dolby TrueHD. Outputs include stereo audio, composite video, component video, optical Toslink, digital coax, and HDMI. No word on image quality just yet, but based on previous Insignia products, we're not holding our breath.

Minerva has released a new version of his Nand Manager for the PSP
via pspgen
The program goes to flash your PSP. This is never benign and can make your PSP partially or completely inutiisable. NEVER RESTORE A NAND ABROAD AT YOUR PSP. This makes your PSP permanently unusable even with a pandora Kit as the ID Storage of a PSP is unique and can not be used on another.
PSPgen and (or) author (s) from this program will not be held responsible when problems with your PSP.
Note: Your battery must be charged at least 70%
Reminders:
Nandmanager used to dump or restore NAND (FLASH0 + FLASH1 + FLASH2 + FLASH3 + + iDStorage IPL) on your PSP, as allowed Despertar Del Cementario, but it has some functions in addition that are very interesting: on the one hand, it is not necessary to have a battery Pandora to dump its NAND and on the other hand, it may be several NANDs, renowned for his way and install the one you want (a practice to change firmware in a few minutes)
What's New in this version?
Adding to magic / seed unique to each PSP (more or less an "identity card") which helps differentiate dumps several PSP.

News/release from MDave:
Hi there, I have finally released a little project I've been working on for a while, and it should interest those that like the old Goldeneye and Turok on the N64
I know that the psp homebrew scene has slowed down a lot this year, hopefully this won't be the 'swan song' of homebrew games for the PSP, considering how much success its getting commercially these days. I suspect it has something to do with the iPhone, but that its interface while intuitive, lacks the basics like tactile buttons which makes your traditional games pretty much unplayable Anyway, back to my game :P
It's a Quake total conversion made from scratch and designed for the PSP, and includes my own heavily tweaked Quake engine which happens to be fully backwards compatible with Quake 1 and its mods.
The download and more information is on this site:
http://bladebattles.com/kurok/index.html
Hope you enjoy!
I seriously suggest playing multiplayer with friends in a map that includes remote mines, its a blast

RPG fans decrying the lack of their favorite genre might have a classic title coming soon to their PS3. In today's ESRB report of upcoming titles, Suikoden was listed for the PS3 and PSP. This means that the title should be available across the PSN, and should feature remote play capability to take the adventure on Sony's handheld. While no release date was given, the re-release of the title was rated E for Everyone.
In case you're not familiar with Suikoden, you control the son of a general destined to seek out 108 warriors to defeat a corrupt government and bring peace to the land. Not only did the game feature duels and large turn based battles, but also packed a large amount of depth into its magic and combat system. While there weren't any other classic titles announced within the report, the impending release of Suikoden could light the way for other classic PSone titles to land on the PSN.

NeoGAF poster Ephemeris snapped the photo above showing that Metal Gear Solid 4 auteur Hideo Kojima will be at the Virgin MegaStore in Times Square NYC on June 11, signing copies of the game for a midnight launch. We contacted the Virgin MegaStore's games department this morning just to confirm. The conversation went like this:
"Hi, I just wanted to confirm Hideo Kojima would be signing copies of Metal Gear Solid 4 at the store on June 11?"
"Who?" The clerk sounded half-asleep.
"Hi-de-o Ko-ji-ma, Metal Gear Solid 4, in store June 11?"
"Um, yeah, we're doin' that. Sure."
We're just curious to see if Kojima does a mega-signing in Japan for the opening there and then bends time backwards (by crossing the date line) to get to New York. That would be hardcore.

Magixien let me know earlier of news surrounding the upcoming Custom Firmware for the PSP:
The Custom SIGN 3.95 GEN is desired by all, but some problems are delaying his departure. Click for more information.
We will start with the good news because it must always be positive. The Custom firmware 3.95 GEN is over 99% in its PSP Slim & Lite version. Today, it works and can launch the VSHMenu, IRShell (with a few bugs due to the fact that IRShell is hardcoded for 3.80), PSPFiler 5.1, and so on. Please note that Popsloader is now compatible.
The bad news arrives and is intended to possessor PSP standard or "fat". To this day, if the Custom Firmware runs on the PSP and let launch UMD and ISO/CSO additional functions are not all operational. Thus, the VSHMenu, popsloader desperately freeze on our good old first-generation of PSP.
The reasons are a little obscure but the lack of memory is undoubtedly the primary factor of instability. Our shdow's dev continues its research in this area but it seems to be really difficult.
We therefore expect to happen to solve the problems of the "Fat" before the launch but if it were to lead to an impasse, the release of the current version will launch anyway.

While out on news patrol earlier we completely missed an enormously conspicuous press release lying unconvincingly across some flattened grass trying to fit a giant spinning ration box into its overflowing utility belt: it said that Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa will be at HMV's Oxford Street, London store on 2nd June.
They will of course be there to celebrate the release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots later in June - 12th June, to be precise - and in the absence of boxed copies of the game will be signing HMV-exclusive game sleeves.
The duo will be there at 12 noon, but the organisers note that "access to meet Mr. Kojima and Mr. Shinkawa will be strictly limited", so "300 sleeves will be available from the store on the day of the event from 9.00am", and only people with sleeves will be allowed to queue. You can have a sleeve if you pre-order the game at HMV, which involves a GBP 5 deposit.
Still, we imagine 300 or so of the series' loyal fans will be ready to spend that much and do that much standing around waiting. If we were feeling uncharitable, we might point out that they spend far more time sitting around doing nothing while playing the Metal Gear Solid games. But we're not uncharitable, as you know.
As mentioned, Metal Gear Solid 4 is due out on 12th June, and is exclusive to PS3. We've already played it and finished it, and you can read our post-completion hands-on preview elsewhere on the site. Sadly though, we're tightly bound by an NDA so you will have to wait until closer to release to read our verdict. Look out for it.

via Computer and Video Games
We know the Metal Gear Solid series is famous for its long cut-scenes, but this tops everything! Metal Gear Solid 4, the latest instalment in Hideo Kojima's seminal stealth series, has cut-scenes (note the plural) that approach the 90 minutes mark.
troubled with time keeping, that's the length of a feature film.
The news comes from PSW magazine, who's been and finished MGS4, and then promptly whispered in our ears about the shocking 90-minute cut-scenes. The latest issue hits newsstands today, by the way.
We were expecting long story sequences (MGS2 approached the 45 minute mark in one) but an hour and a half of cinematics was unexpected.
The good news is that you can now skip or pause the scenes. Hands up though, how many of you are actually going to sit through the full 90 minutes?
"MGS4's story is massive. The videogame equivalent of all three Godfather movies on one disc," says the mag.
"As you'd expect, you'll spend a lot of time watching cut-scenes, so if you found previous games' story exposition laborious, then you'd better find yourself a nice cushion and plenty of teabags in readiness for MGS4's.
"They can be skipped, but you'll be missing out on some of the finely crafted examples of FMV footage anywhere in gaming," the article boldly proclaims.
Issue 108 of PSW is on sale now.

Remember Quinta Essentia? Probably not, but you should.
For those empty brains there, Quinta Essentia is a homebrew RPG under development by Team Xeoka. The game's press release was announced some months ago here at DCEmu.
Just as a quick update, the team hasn't stopped working on the game. They're working on every aspect and detail, and getting it ready to release the best homebrew RPG for the PSP ever created. But, since the project is so huge, and the people working on it are busy people, it's slowing down. And we're asking for help.
We need another member in our team. We are looking for an experienced pixel artist to join the development team, that could aid in the design and creation of interfaces.
Minimum Requirements:
* Self motivated with a good attitude and able work with others.
* Ability to effectively persuade, explain and negotiate.
Responsibilities:
* Management of time and workload to meet flexible deadlines.
* Remain focused and motivated throughout all tasks.
* Development of interfaces that are entertaining, intuitive and technically feasible.
So, if you think you have what it takes to be in our team, be sure to contact us and show us your skills. You can send an e-mail to the address below:
For the latest Quinta Essentia news and updates go to the Official Quinta Essentia Blog or the #1 Quinta Essentia Affiliate Site.
