News/release from Torch
Lockdown allows you to password protect your PSP from prying eyes.
It also protects the Recovery Menu so that the protection can't be disabled without considerable effort, such as writing a VSH mode plugin to uninstall it from flash0, or by unbricking with Pandora.
Features:
* Modern GUI
* Uses PSP keys like Square, Cross, Circle etc as password, instead of fumbling with an on screen keyboard
* Fully configurable from the PSP
* Protects Recovery Menu as well
* Supports 2 modes of operation: 1st mode will only ask for password when the PSP is rebooted or powered on. 2nd mode will ask for password every time the XMB is launched, such as after quitting a game etc.
* Application errors (Game could not be started, etc) will be displayed normally in the XMB unlike other password programs which won't display these messages. So you know why you were sent back to the XMB.
Installation:
1. Open flash0 via USB. Go to flash0:/vsh/module folder. Make sure you have enough free space to install both the files.
2. Rename the vshmain.prx to vshmain_real.prx
3. Rename the recovery.prx to recovery_real.prx
4. Paste the two files from the archive in this folder.
5. Ensure that you have renamed the files correctly or you will brick.
6. Disconnect USB and reboot the PSP.
7. You will see the password screen asking you to set a new password. You can use the PSP face buttons, the D-Pad and L-Trigger & R-Trigger. You can enter a maximum of 10 buttons. Press Start after you are done. It will ask you to re-type the password for confirmation.
8. Now you can select one of the two modes of operation: Ask password only on reboot, or every time you go to the XMB.
9. To change the password later, just press Select at the password input screen. It will ask for the old password, and then you can set a new one, as well as change the functioning mode.
RECOMMENDATION:
I suggest that you first install only vshmain.prx and dont rename/install recovery.prx. Once you got vshmain.prx working, then its safe to install recovery.prx. Because if vshmain.prx didn't work, you will still have the recovery menu to revert it.
Uninstallation:
Delete the vshmain.prx and recovery.prx and rename the vshmain_real.prx and recovery_real.prx back to the original names.
Also delete the buttons.ini in flash0:

*Improved Calculator
*Fixed memory issues
*From now on, file browser displays ICON0.PNG when you are highlighting a PBP/CSO/ISO file

Of course this is the first version of the scripting system so a lof things are missing and some bugs may be found.
Remember this is the first version of the script and it's slow.

New version of the MSX emulator for PSP.
Changelog:
Corrected MSX Music/MSX Audio labeling in System settings - MSX Music now correctly refers to FMPAC/YM2413 chip; MSX Audio refers to Y8950 chip. If the emulator was previously freezing with FMPAC audio, double-check to make sure MSX Music is enabled (disable MSX Audio to gain some extra speed) and try again.

For some time now, mankind has been battling the ferocious and terrifying Nightwalkers, a race of superhuman vampires who crave human blood. People have been disappearing at night; the lucky ones are found dead, but those less fortunate are reborn as Nightwalkers, and are bound by instinct to forcefully recruit unwitting victims into the Nightwalker army. Gamers take the role of John Lloyd, a member of a US special government unit created to defeat the Nightwalkers, and the only human to ever survive a physical encounter with them.

It's not the first time we've seen a controller hacked for use with the PSP, but this mod by Acidmods member Blizzrad takes things a bit further than most, with it relying entirely on hardware modifications in order to work, meaning it can be done on any PSP regardless of the firmware. It's also one of the cleanest-looking mods we've seen to date, with the only evidence of tampering on the PSP itself being a discreetly placed controller connector right above the power switch. Of course, that also means it's considerably more difficult for most of us to do ourselves, but we can at least get a glimpse of what's possible courtesy of the video after the break.

Konami asked games press to keep quiet about the massive length of Metal Gear Solid 4's cut-scenes, claims MTV's Multiplayer blog.
It emerged earlier this month that the PS3 sequel has at least two cinematics "approaching" 90 minutes long, as reported by PSW magazine and now in the new issue of Edge as well.
Apparently, Konami was keen to keep these huge cinematics under wraps from print reviews...
"I've been told by two gaming media sources who asked to remain anonymous that Konami representatives had been asking print reviewers to keep some technical details out of their reviews, namely the length of the game's cut-scenes and the size of the game's installation on the PlayStation 3," reads the MTV blog.
"Such details wouldn't have been plot spoilers, but perhaps the publisher was concerned that they would be viewed as negatives?"
PSW called the game's story, "the videogame equivalent of all three Godfather movies on one disc," and "if you found previous games' story exposition laborious, then you'd better find yourself a nice cushion and plenty of teabags in readiness for MGS4's.
"They can be skipped, but you'll be missing out on some of the finely crafted examples of FMV footage anywhere in gaming," the article boldly proclaims.

Hideo "This is the last one no it's not yes it is oh go on then" Kojima has said he may lend a hand with the next instalment in the Metal Gear Solid series.
As reported last week MGS4 is unlikely to mark the end of the franchise - though it will conclude Solid Snake's story. "I always tried to finish the story in each game," Kojima told Reuters. "But by some miracle in MGS4 I was able to resolve the mysteries left behind in past games and resolve the side stories from past games."
He added, "I'm not a genius like George Lucas." No one is sir. "I didn't have this story planned out."
According to Kojima, the future of the series will depend on the demand from fans. "MGS will always be around," he said. "I feel a responsibility to continue this series as long as users demand it. But it doesn't mean I'm going to sit in completely.
"I'll probably take a different role in the next game. Maybe I'll sit in as producer and let the young staff take control of the new series. I really want to go on to new things."
Different media, perhaps? "When entertainment becomes digital there can be a great collaboration between games and other kinds of entertainment, like movies or even novels," Kojima observed.
"All these things might form together to form a coherent medium. The trend is there, things are happening and I believe that convergence will happen sooner or later."
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is out on 12th June, and you can read what we reckon to it right now.

via IGN
The latest from Sony Japan's development lab is a game that encourages players to watch rather than play. The company unveiled today Shikitei (unofficially, "Four Season Garden"), a downloadable PS3 title where you build a garden and watch what happens.
Sony refers to Shikitei as an environmental simulator rather than a game. Your objective is to design your garden, planting trees and placing lights and other items as you see fit.
There's some heavy technology going into title to drive the simulation. Tree branches and growth differ for every tree you have in your garden, all driven by computer program.
Seasonal and time changes are included as well. As winter approaches, snow will begin to build up, adapting realistically to the shape of your garden and its elements. In spring, sakura trees will grow pink; in fall, leaves will turn orange. As night approaches, you'll see reflections of the evening sky in water.
The title will feature over 150 items, including trees and even animals like cats, birds, and rabbits. As these items are obtained, they're added to a growing item encyclopedia which can be consulted at any time. Items are added through over 40 item packs that will be sold through the PlayStation Store following the main game's release.
Shikitei is being developed by Premium Agency, a firm that specializes in movie contents. Serving as producer is Rie Nakamura, who stressed in this week's issue of Famitsu that the title will have no gaming elements to it. According to Nakamura, the staff at one point considered adding game-like features such as making weeds appear if players don't take care of their garden every now and then, but these features didn't make the cut.
There appears to be plenty to do in Shikitei, though. You have full freedom when designing your garden. You can make trees speed or slow their growth in order to customize their size. There's a progressive nature to the garden's development, as trees will release seed that result in more trees, making your garden expand. As your garden expands, more animals will begin to appear.
When not planning, you can select to take a stroll through your work-in-progress. This can either be done under full control, or you can have the PS3 give you an automatic tour, pointing out the highlights. You can also take screenshots whenever you like. These are added to the PS3's photo folder and can be accessed online by other players. This online photo gallery feature appears to be the only online support for the game.
Sony is also giving the title custom soundtrack support. You'll be able to use the music stored on your PS3 as background music.
The title will ship with two garden types initially: Japanese and Western. Nakamura is hoping to, in the future, add gardens from India, Egypt and other areas of the world. She also told Famitsu that she personally thinks having ruins as a backdrop would be beautiful.
Japanese PS3 owners can look forward to Shikitei on June 26. Pricing is set for 1,500 yen for the main title. Pricing for the item packs has yet to be announced.
For a first look at the game, check out the new official Shikitei website.

Sony Europe has declined to comment on suggestions the latest PS3 firmware update will include the highly sought after XMB.
Its stayed silent when asked if the 2.40 update will be out in June as suggested by numerous reports today.
The upcoming firmware is also said to contain the Achievement-like Trophies, although reports suggest both these and the XMB will not work with all PS3 games, but will instead be an optional feature developers can choose to support or not.
The only official word on in-game XMB and firmware version 2.40 is that it will be out this "summer".

Ok then this is an updated version of WireWar that I done a while ago. WireWar is a little space shooter that aims to be just a quick pick up and play game, with no external graphics. You have 99 seconds to shoot as many rotating squares as you can, but you only get one shot, at a time to start with, so you need to aim well . Also the smaller the square the more points you get and more points for the moving one.
Here some of the changes:
- Power up, so you can shoot two bullets, if you get 500 points.
- Another target which moves.
- Screen glows when you hit a target.
- Burst of color when you hit a target.
- Go on and off the screen.
- A bit more info on the start sceen.
Enjoy, KOR.

SanDisk has unchained their new Extreme III PRO-HG Duo cards and they are tearing ass all over the place with superfast 30MBps read and write transfer speeds. For those of you keeping track, SanDisk's non-HG Extreme III's can only muster 18MBps speeds. Naturally, the PRO-HG will be aimed squarely at users with high end cameras and camcorders who don't mind dropping $90 and $150 on a 4GB or 8GB card. Available starting in June.

As we near the Homebrew Idol finale, developer MaxTheBest shares his creation — Protect Me. A simple yet effective homebrew app wrapped around a PRX plugin. The PRX is called on-boot prompting the user to enter his/her password before granting access to the XMB. So all that filth you wish to hide from your unsuspecting friends, siblings, etc… It’s safe now — for the most part.
Installation is easy — copy the “Protect-Me” directory to PSP/GAME on your memory stick, and run it. From here the rest is pretty straightforward: install / uninstall the PRX, set or remove your password, and so forth… As per the screenshot:
“Max, you the best.” Now that my unmentionables are safely protected.
Protect Me 0.91 changes:
Now when the intruder inputs 3 wrong password, an alarm will be played to alert you about the thief.
Some bugs corrected.
