Let's say you've got $135,000 lying around the house. You're a big PS3 fan, and you just don't know what to do with all that money. Sure, you could buy a bunch of PS3s for hospitals or charities or something, help out people in need, but that's boring. Why don't you blow it all on this auction for a PS3 entirely covered in Swarovski Crystals? Note I say blow it on the auction, not the PS3 itself, because if this is real then I'll...look, just read the auction listing, there's no way this is real.

New from Play Asia:
Devil May Cry 4 is a critically acclaimed large scale action that caters to players of both third generation consoles, the Xbox360 and PlayStation3. The book contains every scrap of information and illustration on the characters, both on the heroes' sides and on the villains' side.
There are rough sketches and initial designs on new characters and redesign information on the existing ones. Aside from sketches, the book also contains some high quality CG illustrations to show the end product of the character design processes.
To ensure that the book is thorough, even the sketches and information that have been discarded during the design stages are collected and edited into the archive.
Capcom's comprehensive Devil May Cry 4 - Devil Material Collection is in stock today, shipping for US$ 29.90 only.

As we approach the July 31 Japanese release of Phantasy Star Portable, new information on the game continues to roll in. Here are some of the new features and changes you can expect to see.
Character import
Players will be able to import their characters from the PC/PS2 versions of Phantasy Star Universe to the PSP version. When transferred over, characters will retain their name, race, sex, voice, clothes/parts and level (though if you are over LV20, your imported character will be reduced to LV20). Data which will not carry over includes your equipment, inventory, photon arts, Guardian type and partner machine.
System changes
The weapon grinding system has been modified so that all weapons have a 100% success rate. However, the amount that a stat increases with each grind will be random.
Item drops have also been modified. With PSP, the items that drop in a mission are determined in part by the Guardian type of the party leader. Also, rare items will be distributed to all party members instead of only one player.
City navigation has received an overhaul. With this game, players will no longer have to traverse a city to move from shop to shop. Instead, a menu will be displayed which will allow players to choose a location and immediately transport there.
That's not all, of course! For more information on what to expect from Phantasy Star Portable, please see this thread.

During a promotional trailer for the band's forthcoming studio album, Metallica has declared said that its music is the "most requested" on both Rock Band and Guitar Hero.
You may remember a few years back that the aging US rock chuggers were on the verge of appearing in their very own vide game under the Vivendi / Sierra moniker. The "high action, third person vehicle combat game packed with fully customised vehicles and weaponry, endless terrain and desperate, murderous opponents" was due out in 2005 but it never happened. There was even going to be voice-overs from band and background music supplied from Metallica. An original song was also in the works for the title.
But all that never happened. Probably because someone eventually realised that it sounded horrific on paper. Worse even than the Load and St Anger albums put together. Thank god for the emergence then of Guitar Hero and Rock Band, which have given fans a chance to be in the band rather than drive it around, running people over.
Metallica classics such as One, And Justice For All..., Blackened and Ride the Lightning are just some of what's already available. But with the band's claim that its tunes are the most requested for both games, looks like they'll be plenty more in store. Bring on Battery and Damage Inc., we say...

Apparently, rumble does matter to a lot of Americans. According to SCEA, the feedback-giving DualShock 3 had $10.9 million [£5.57m] in sales during the month of April, meaning that about 200,000 Americans were ready to put down $55 [£28] for some vibration from their PS3 controller.
As we learned from our initial impression of the DualShock 3: Yes, it's worth it. We do know that the Sixaxis is on its way out, but at this point only the MGS bundles come with the DS3. We're still waiting for the "official" changeover to occur with regular PS3 consoles.

Sony has confirmed that developers can now integrate YouTube functionality in upcoming or existing PS3 games.
Specifically this will allow you to capture and upload footage recorded while playing, according to the announcement on API.
The deal was made this week, and Sony has offered the development software to studios across all regions.
It won't be the first video capture software included in games, of course; Halo 3 let you show murderous footage to each other and Ninja Gaiden II has its fancy Ninja Cinema.
However, it does set a rather meaty precedent, given the popularity of YouTube, which - we think - only Spore has taken advantage of so far.

Sony has filled another carrier bag full of songs and emptied it on the PS3 SingStore.
Tumbling into availability are depressing if iconic tracks like "Everybody Hurts" by R.E.M, anything by Coldplay, something by Aslan who we thought was a fantasy lion, and "Sing It Back" by Moloko, which we quite like.
Oh look there's some Westlife for you as well, and some Avril Lavigne. There's even a bit of Roy Orbison.
Tracks cost GBP 0.99 as always which, as Tom found out, mounts up rather quickly.

While we've known for some time that the "Gun Metal Gray" PlayStation 3 bundle -- featuring a shiny 40GB model, a matching DualShock 3 controller and a Limited Edition copy of geriatric sneakfest, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots -- would be available to Americans, we didn't know until now that it would only be available to Americans logging onto Konami's website. Online and inevitably scarce pre-orders for the $599.99 package will start on May 19th, so you'd better get clicking if you want Snake and Gray Box to face off in your living room.
No, we mean it. Judging by Konami's labyrinthine sign-up process for the Metal Gear Online Beta, you'll need at least several days to prepare a registration, obtain an ID, convert that into e-currency, trade it in for the microfilm, enter the password, steal the key code, write the secret URL on a postcard and summon Hideo Kojima in an arcane ritual.
Note: This bundle is different from the regular, $499 MGS4 bundle which includes an 80GB PS3 and a DualShock 3.

For those of you continuing to have Grand Theft Auto IV lockups on your PS3 even after the May 7th Rockstar patch... tough noogies. The latest 2.35 firmware won't specifically help. Sony says that the "minor update" will "improve stability of some PS3 titles" -- then clarifies that GTA IV is not part of the vagary. Nevertheless, Sony does say that they "have a identified a solution that should resolve the issue." So buck up Niko and get on the horn with Sony, God knows the police won't help.

At the Konami press event last night, three new DDR games were announced on three separate platforms, each with a bunch of new features to bring to the table. Sony's aging platform was not left out of the fun, as it will be getting Dance Dance Revolution X this Fall. This title continues the long relationship that the PS2 has with the DDR franchise.
Although the game wasn't playable at the event, we were told that it will sport several new features to entice long-time DDR fans. The game will have enhanced graphics and more characters, 70 songs to enjoy and it will bring back the popular Workout Mode to the package. DDR X will be compatible with the EyeToy so you can again bring yourself into the game.
The last big announcement made regarding DDR X was the one advantage it has over the other two titles: LAN battles. You'll be able to hook up four PS2s together and have up to eight friends testing their dancing might on the iconic DDR pad.

In order to prepare for the launch of the new season, we are pleased to release 5 new screenshots of Pro Cycling Manager - Tour de France 2008.
The management side of the game has been given extra depth with many new elements. It has an entirely new stamina system, a more realistic progression curve for each rider, a complete skills editor and a new young talent recruiting system with a more aggressive AI.
This year, the racing is even more realistic, with a reworked feeding system, an enhanced game interface and the most advanced rider AI yet plus highly detailed rider models and animations. The 2008 edition also includes a new improved user interface, lighting system and more detailed, richer environments with a large variety of buildings and landscapes.
For the first time in the series, impressive “track racing” events are available. Choose track events such as cycle speedway, Kierin and elimination to challenge your team’s track racing skills. All of these features combined make this new edition the most complete and exciting recreation of professional cycling.
Far from just a simple port of the PC version, the PSP version of Pro Cycling – Tour de France 2008 has been specially designed to make use of the unique features of the Sony PSP while offering optimized gameplay. Racing is the true attraction of this version thanks to the ability to participate in the greatest international cycling competitions, including the new track races, and the Tour de France 2008 which has been faithfully recreated. So choose the team you wish to bring to the top amongst one of the 18 official teams available and all the star players. This 2008 edition lets you challenge your friends in multiplayer mode via LAN or via the PSP WiFi features.
Both titles will be released on June 19th 2008.

News/release from Jsharrad:
Ever get tired of cygwin not working? Don't want to spend 8 hours compiling the toolchain? Want to be able to compile and install your own libs whenever you need them? Then this kit is for you!
I have taken a lightweight linux distrobution (slitaz, released about a month ago), stripped most of the non-development related stuff out, installed the gnu toolchain, PSP toolchain, and the PSPSDK, and packed it all into one 100mb virtual machine archive.
Edit: I'd like to give mad props to the Slitaz linux folks for this. I was a little vague above, but these guys put in a couple years hard work in this distro and I believe it's the smallest one out there right now. Without their distro to butcher, this would have been alot harder on me, so thanks guys!
You want it? Huh huh? You can pick it up HERE (100mb download) and save it somewhere with over 2gb of space available, but, there's some things you'll need to get first before you can get coding.
