News/release from albandu51
Pxl_Installer can download and install themes official (Format FTP) and the unofficial themes to CBC. There is therefore no risk of brick given that the themes used CBC via CXMB.
Pxl_Installer can also download wallpapers who settle directly into the folder "PICTURE" and Homebrews who settle in the PSP folder / Game.
Finally, this homebrew can also download and install the plugin CXMB bypassing the PC, adding the line of PRX in "vsh.txt" An auto detection Firmware is used to download the correct version of the plugin.
Quote:
What's new?
-- Fixed bugs
-- Adding theme FTP and CTF
-- Adding Wallpapers
-- Display% downloaded
Quote:
And in the next Release?
-- Downloader + Extractor (. Zip) link URL
-- Background Music
-- Added themes
Thanks to J3r3mie for its valuable assistance, including the choice of Wallpapers, Homebrews and Previews
PS: You may encounter a bug display from time to time! This will be resolved in the next version!

Welcome Quake’s link to the extreme side of Windows<->PSP management. Many moons have come and gone since we saw Extreme Link last; so allow me to recapitulate…
PSP Extreme Link is a multipurpose app to simplify many PSP-related functions… Easily convert ISO images to CSO compressed format. Use POPstation and DocMaker to ready your PSOne images for PopsLoader. Manage NET/USBHostFS connectivity, game records, and more…
Extreme Link 1.5.9 changes:
Extreme Link: PNG Imager
Fixed: Auto counter 0 count
Note: Now saves with 4 numbered files names. 3 count denied Docmaker GUI to verify the PNG images existed.
Example: 0000.png, 0001.png, 0002.png
Extreme Link: Explore
Fixed: Optimized Space Values
Fixed: Memstick detection
Extreme Link: Records
Unlockable Trading-Post Search
Fixed: Review Text Box
Replaced: Game Info Preview outlook
Added: Movable ESRB Image - If it’s in the way, move it!
Added: Connectivity
Added: ESRB Images
Added: ESRB Info
Extreme Link: Progress Bar
Fixed: Optimized Space Values

News/release from Mistabeen:
Hi all
I was looking for a way to use my PSP as an extra (mini)monitor on my pc so I could read IRC while I was working in another aplication
I tried using a virtual monitor and then stream it to the PSP using VLC but it was just too slow to be of any good use
So I wrote a small php script that monitors the IRC chatlog and displays it, so every time someone says something in the channel you are monitorring it shows up on the PSP.
I know this isn't actual "Homebrew", I don't know where else to place this. Mods feel free to move this to the correct forum if this belongs somewhere else. I just wanted to share this in case someone else would enjoy this.
screenshot of how this looks on your PSP
What do you need?
- a local webserver that supports PHP (if you don't know what this is, just install WAMP)
- mIRC
- IRC Script
- a PSP
- a wireless network
1. A local webserver
For those who know what this is, you can skip this step, for those who don't, read on.
This script uses PHP, so you need to install a local webserver to run this script. If you have no experience whatsoever, install WAMP
http://www.en.wampserver.com/
If everything works out fine, you should be able to just install and run the server just under a minute
Be sure to START your server afther you installed it
2. Setting up mIRC
You need to change your mIRC settings too log your channels and save them to your webserver directory.
For people who use WAMP this is C:/wamp/www/
A small screenshot of my IRC log settings
3. Setting up the IRC script
Before you do this step, it is best to run IRC first and connect to the channel you want to log. this way IRC can generate the logfile first
Now you extract the zip file atached to this post to the same directory you chose to save your logs in. (for people who are using wamp and following these steps, you extract the file to C:/wamp/www/ )
Now open up the file (irc.php) in an editor (notepad will do if you don't have anything else)
and change the first 3 acual lines of code
PHP Code:
// the script will refresh itself every # amount of seconds you define here
// default: header('Refresh: 1; url=irc.php#end');
header('Refresh: 1; url=irc.php#end');
// change this to the log filename you want to monitor
$myFile = "#channel.server.log";
// change the name that will be displayed in the bookmarks
// the default $myTitle = "Default Name"; will be displayed as "IRC viewer :: Default Name"
$myTitle = "Default Name";
To those who know PHP, this might not be the best script you have ever seen, but it does the job there is definatly room for improvement
4. Running the script
Open your PSP webbrowser and go to http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/irc.php#end
(replace xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx with the IP adress of your computer)
Enjoy, you can now monitor your favorite IRC channel while using another aplication.
It's not the same as an extended desktop, but you can read IRC without having to Alt-tab all the time

asmodean posted this news/release:
I've written a small tool that can force some games to run at 480p. I'm interested to get any feedback from you guys experienced with the platform.
The tool patches parameters to sceGsResetGraph() and can adjust the DY value in tGS_DISPLAY2 (some games pass a smaller value when in 480p, causing the screen to cut off at the top). This latter part is most of the work.
One outstanding problem is that some games run at an unnaturally high frame rate after being forced to 480p.

The PSP Hacker DarK Alex is not working on the PS3 despite rumours saying he is, his right hand man Mathieulh posted this:
Dark_AleX is not (currently) working on hacking the ps3 in any ways. This is ONLY a www.dark-alex.org design related change which has nothing related to Alex's work. Alex is still focussing on the psp as we speak. Please give him a break, if he ever wishes to start working on the ps3 or release anything ps3 related, you'll eventually be told.
Thanks for your understanding.

News/release from bumuckl
Eb0x v1.0 means "Eboot Extractor v1.0". With help of this nifty application
you can extract the content of an EBOOT.PBP. For example
Eb0x v1.0 can extract the preview-pictures or thumbnails out of an EBOOT.PBP.
For the computer there's already such applications, such as
PBP Unpacker or SeiPSPTool.
In contrast to the computerprograms Eb0x can extract the data right on your PSP.
At the moment Eb0x can only extract the following files:
-Icon0.png
-Pic1.png
-Param.sfo
-Data.psp
Snd0.at3 and .psf-videos are not yet extractable.
There may be some bugs in Eb0x v1.0.

ragnarok2040 has posted a new alpha of the Snes emulator for the PS2, heres the release details:
I've already released a couple of builds so people could try it out. Alpha2 is the latest version. It supports one controller mapped to a standard snes controller, just push L2 to get back to the file browser. There's no sound support, or hi-res support or transparency support, and booting new roms is a little broken. It's also kind of fast because the sound core isn't enabled, heh. With it enabled, it's pretty slow.
If you want to try it out, I uploaded the source and the latest alpha2 builds to:
http://homebrew.thewaffleiron.net/ragnarok2040/
They're named packed_snes9xPAL.zip and packed_snes9xNTSC.zip.
