The first download-only PSP title hits the PlayStation Store this week, along with the PS3 debut of Puzzle Quest: Galactrix and an oddly-priced set of downloadable Disgaea 3 content.
This marks my first time posting the PlayStation Store Update, so forgive me if I go astray. NIS America plans to release Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love for PS2 and Wii this autumn.
This a strategy RPG in which robots meet the Wild West - a bit like that film with Will Smith in. There are six endings depending on the choices you make along the way - character interaction is very important, apparently.
Combat is split in two: ground battles are fought in two-legged mechanised robots, which can transform and take to the sky, prompting missile-based, long-range battles. There are around 30 to 40 hours gameplay in total.
There's no word on what the platform differences are, nor when we'll see this in Europe. We're checking.

IS America has revealed a watercolour-style PS3 RPG called Last Rebellion, which will be released over there this autumn.
The game follows "dark anti-hero" Nine and his female companion Aisha on a story of revenge. Exploration will be free-form but battles turn-based, where Nine will resort to physical attacks and Aisha to magic. But only one character can fight per turn, creating what NIS hopes to be "not another mindless battle system". Body-parts can also be targeted; legs to slow, arms to weaken, and so on.
Visually, the game looks quite like the latest Prince of Persia, only less vibrant, as our Last Rebellion gallery will illustrate. The game is single-player, too.

NIS America plans to release PSP game Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days across the US this autumn.
This is an enhanced port of Disgaea 2, which was superb when it came out for PS2 back in 2006. The new bits are more characters, items and skills, plus extra story chapters and even new battle features stolen from Disgaea 3.
Dark Hero Days follows Adell, the last human, on his journey to the Netherworld to defeat the armies of Zenon. Adell will amass and nurture his own force along the way, seeing off waves of baddies in strategical, tile-based brawls.
Bizarrely, the first trailer contradicts the press release by citing a summer 2009 date. We're looking into European plans.

Official event tie-in set for PS3, PC and 360 this summer; Wii edition to hit later in 2009
Ashes Cricket 2009 for PS3, 360 and PC is set to be one of this summer’s key sporting titles, says Codemasters.
The game will go up against a raft of big summer sports titles including EA Grand Slam Tennis, Tiger Woods, Wii Sports Resort and Virtua Tennis 2009.
“The Ashes is set to be the sporting event of the summer and it’s great to be producing the official game of the Series,” said Codemasters producer Jamie Firth.
“In partnering with the development team at Transmission Games, Ashes Cricket 2009 is a cricket title with an unprecedented heritage that comes from two companies that know and love the sport. The Brian Lara titles became the number one cricket gaming brand for over ten years and it’s a reputation that we fully intend to continue with Ashes Cricket 2009.”
Ashes was first revealed on Gamespot earlier today, and is set to follow-up the firm’s hugely successful Brian Lara series. The title is fully licensed by cricketing bodies ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board), the MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club) and Cricket Australia, and features all official players, kit and stadia.
ECB commercial director John Perera added: “The Ashes is one of the iconic challenges in world sport. With cricket set to dominate the sporting calendar this summer we're delighted to be able to give cricket fans the chance to follow in the footsteps of their heroes and try and win back the Ashes for England.”
“Cricket as a sport lends itself extremely well to this type of treatment and we are pleased that with Codemasters technical expertise we will be providing gamers with the next best thing to be playing out in the middle. We are sure it will be a great success."
Ashes Cricket 2009 will be released this summer on PS3, 360 and PC, with a Wii edition scheduled for later in the year.

2K Games has announced that it has signed on Digital Extremes to develop the multiplayer game for BioShock 2. The group is said to be working closely with 2K Marin, the team responsible for the single player game, in the effort to develop a "substantial element that enhances the lore and fiction of the BioShock Universe."
The multiplayer game will take place during the fall of Rapture as players take on the role of Plasmid test subjects for Sinclair Solutions. This game will reportedly expand the BioShock fiction and reveal more about the fall of Rapture.
As far as gameplay goes, little has been revealed aside from a leveling system. Experience points will be earned during matches that will give players access to new weapons, Plasmids and Tonics. Locations will include the Kashmir Restaurant and Mercury Suites, built from the ground up specifically for multiplayer.
2K president Christoph Hartmann said, "The fans asked for a multiplayer experience and we answered. With Digital Extremes delivering a multiplayer experience for BioShock 2 that features all of the things that make BioShock unique, we're holding ourselves to a high standard so that we can deliver the depth and variety that fans of the BioShock universe demand."
Digital Extremes is best known for its work on the Unreal franchise. Most recently, it developed Dark Sector for Xbox 360, PC and PlayStation 3.

Though data suggests that the majority of consumers are still not aware of the format
Whether Blu-ray’s rise to ascendancy will gather the required pace needed before the mainstream adaptation of digital movie downloads arrives is yet to be seen, but sales of HD discs players have performed well year-on-year.
TechRadar reports that annual Blu-ray player sales climbed 72 per cent in 2008 in North America, according to NPD. In Q1 2009 alone 400,000 Blu-ray players were sold, representing a market value of $107.2m.
However, other data has shown that the majority of US consumers are still ignorant about the format, with 58 per cent of 7,000 people surveyed by NPD claiming they were “not very familiar” with the format.
“Blu-ray's superiority used to be difficult for many consumers to grasp,” analyst Russ Crupnick stated. “But when friends rave about it, or demonstrate Blu-ray in their homes, they are selling the benefits in a way that is far more effective than simply viewing an advertisement or seeing it demonstrated at a retail store.”

ony Ericsson president Hideki Komiyama has expressed his interest in partnering with Sony’s game business, stating that a PlayStation mobile handset “could happen”.
The business is currently fighting its corner in the cutthroat mobile handset market, though it has so far failed to provide a serious Smartphone competitor to the iPhone.
Due to the heightened competition, Komiyama is interested to see if the PlayStation arm of Sony can provide a lucrative and unique selling point for its future handsets. Speaking to The Financial Times, he claimed that a PlayStation mobile “could happen”.
Despite its struggles in the Smartphone market, Sony Ericsson is a big believer in convergence. In the past the group has integrated the Walkman and Cybershot brands into its phones, though has not yet embarked on the same path as Nokia did with the n-Gage.
Sony Ericsson is currently relying on third-party technologies to make its phones smarter. The firm will be delivering two new mobiles to the market by the end of 2009, both of which will be able to use operating systems such as Google's Android and Microsoft's Windows Mobile.

Alek posted this on his site:
Well, as we have just seen some time ago, R2 of this Homebrew Enabler has been released, and after watching so many questions, so many emails and etc, let’s recapitulate.
1. ChickHEN does NOT play ISO/PSX/similar files. So, if you want to play your backups, use your UMD’s instead.
2. So, ChickHEN does (now with R2) play homebrew, for every single model and mobo revision to date.
3. Want to see a Compatibility List? Click here
4. ChickHEN does NOT allow flash changes. Therefore, if you use any app that installs anything on flash0 (cfw, themes, whatever), you will end with a brick. And no, there is no (actual) solution to this for the 88v3/3k models.
5. You are getting problems loading the HEN? Be sure to have copied all the images onto PHOTO dir, and if you are can’t load it, shutdown completely the PSP, restart and try again. (Pressing X when the image icon has appeared, and wait)
And no… there are no plans for 5.50cfw or of any other way of making this ISO-capable.
Anyway, any other thing to take in consideration?
After many delays, ChickHEN for 5.03 fw has been released
So, what do those 88v3 and 3k users have? Homebrew (user + kernel), being in memory instead of flash0.
Some considerations (thanks n00b81 btw!) would be the fact that it doesn’t allows you to run any sort of UMD backups or PSX games, neither plugins; and it would be interesting that you NOT install any custom theme on them, or you will end up with a bricked PSP.
Good work, guys.
pd. No, this doesn’t overtakes the pre-IPL stuff that Dark_AleX explained here but well, it’s an interesting step.

Davee is back with a new release of his Homebrew Enabler for PSP 3000s and all those on consoles that previously couldnt do homebrew
[ChickHEN Revision 2] - Team Typhoon
[Changelog]
- Now supports homebrew
- Homebrew Support enhanced
- Tiff image blocking in HEN (displays unsupported)
[What it does?]
ChickHEN works as a homebrew enabler for all PSP models (1000, 2000 and 3000) and allows execution of homebrew games and apps on 5.03 Official firmware. It can allow you to play games such as Bugz!, Jellycar or run apps such as pspfiler and PSPTube. Homebrew enhances the experience of a normal PSP without any faulty side-effects.
[What it does not do?]
- Run ISO, CSO or any other form of UMD backup.
- Run PSX Games
- Touch The Flash of your beloved PSP
- Magically allow the use of Custom Firmware (on TA-088v3 or PSP 3000)
- Load plugins
[How do I use it?]
Depending on your PSP Model, you're going to need a specific tiff image. If you have a Phat (1000) PSP, use the tiff image supplied in the "PHAT" folder and copy it to ms0:/PSP/PHOTO. Else copy the tiff image in the "SLIM" folder to ms0:/PSP/PHOTO. After you've copied the image to your PSP, you can copy the h.bin supplied to the root of the memorystick (ms0:/). This should be sufficient for PSP to reboot into ChickHEN.
[Can it break my PSP?]
ChickHEN works differently to all previous HEN's. Instead of flashing to flash0, it resides entirely in RAM to prevent any damage to the system. Sure enough, you can run applications in HEN to flash stuff but I strongly recommend against it. ChickHEN comes with no warrenty, no guanantee and you run this software under your own responsibility. Flashing onto your PSP WILL BRICK IT!!
As stated, HEN comes with no warrenty, and this software should not be used in conjunction with homebrew which can countervent any copyright laws.

News/release from SuperFury1
I have ported the popstation.exe application for the pc to the psp.
popstation is a pc application that converts a PSX ISO/BIN to a PSX EBOOT.
The package can be found on my site. Within the package there's also a manual (manual.txt).
To install, simply copy the folder in the package to you PSP GAME folder.
Just go to the psp -> links and find the download. (POPStation PSP)
All there's left is to test it in different firmwares. I know it works under cfw 5.00m33-4 (that's the one i used).
If tested under a different firmware that isnt below, please post if it works in this topic.
UPDATEs:
v2.0: Added a list of psx titles & IDs. It will now change the psx EBOOT save id, game title and game ID, according to what game you select (list is retrieved from psx.db. The psx.db file might be outdated, search Google etc. to find the most recent one).
v3.0: Changed the software a bit so that the conversion should always be at maximum speed. Further i added the option to add multiple pictures of games at the same time. Also the software will automatically generate saved data for the conversion at the end of the iso writing part.
OTHER TOOLS that have something in common with this application:
PSX DataBase
Editor v1.0: It let's you edit psx.db file (MS-DOS Application). To look up on the commands you just type help<(enter)>
Due to limited stack space, it only can hold up to 1000 records. When loading a file with more than 1000 records, the information will be truncated to 1000 records.
PSX DataBase Editor v1.1: Added a command that displays some extra information about the application and the version info (in this case 1.1).
Tested firmwares:
5.00m33-4
5.00m33-6
The files can still be found on my website, having the required files included.
UPDATES:
v3.1: Added a menu where you can choose your previous conversions from and continue them right away without having to enter the directory name. You can also choose to start a new conversion. Further i added some code to delete the PSX EBOOT game fully from your memory stick when it notices that your pictures combined are too large. It will also give you the ammount of space that's too large for the PSX EBOOT.
Hope you like it!

You can’t tell from a screenshot, but Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han Tao is a 3D game. Not just polygons instead of pixels 3D game, it’s Rad Racer 3D. When I played the game I was given a pair of glasses to put on. A few moments after putting them on the screen changed from a headache inducing blurry mess to Han Tao leaping towards me to grab a vine.
When wearing the glasses the Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han Tao stands out from being just another kung fu themed beat em up. The catch is you need the right gear. I played the game on a 3D enabled TV and with special glasses — better than the red and blue ones packaged with 3D World Runner. You can turn off the 3D filter at anytime, but the faux holographic feel of Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han Tao is what really made the downloadable PlayStation Network / Xbox Live Arcade game different.
However, 3D enabled TVs and glasses aren’t common equipment. A Namco Bandai representative explained they are trying to get the 3D effect to work with as many TVs and for as many users as possible. I asked about bundling a download code with a pair of 3D glasses and selling Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han Tao in stores. They aren’t sure if they can do that.
It would be a bummer if there wasn’t a simple way for the average gamer to play Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han Tao in real 3D. Perhaps, resorting to the classic red and blue glasses would work? This is a neat trick for a downloadable game and since Blitz Games developed the technology they can also use it in the future too, that is if the Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han Tao is successful.

Nippon Ichi, Gust, and Idea Factory are getting together for another PlayStation 3 RPG mashup. Introducing Trinity Universe which has characters from Atelier Viorate and Disgaea… in 3D!
For the first time in a game Etna, Flonne, and Prinny aren’t sprites. Outside of the adventure story scenes, the game uses models for dungeons and combat. Trinity Universe’s combat system sounds kind of like Xenogears where each attack consumes AP and skills are assigned to three different buttons. Input a set sequence and you can deal more damage. Time is also an important element in Trinity Universe. Players have to destroy a gravitation field and escape a dungeon before time runs out.
Trinity Universe has two different scenarios. A goddess side with Gust characters and a demon lord side with Nippon Ichi stars. The protagonist in the demon lord storyline is a devil dog named Kanata.
Idea Factory will publish Trinity Universe in Japan this August. A release date has not been announced in North America, but NIS America is presenting a 3D PS3 game tomorrow so…

Ryu ga Gotoku 3 (Yakuza 3) came out less than three months ago and Sega isn’t giving the series a break. Series producer Toshihiro Nagoshi shared vague details about a new Ryu ga Gotoku project in an interview with Famitsu.
The game is not Yakuza 4. It isn’t a sequel to Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan!, a side story that took place in ancient Japan, either. Like the most recent game, the Ryu ga Gotoku mystery game is being made for the PlayStation 3. Live in the Land of the Rising Sun? A digitalized version of you can appear in the game as a hostess or other bit character. Sega is taking applications at the end of this week.
Any guesses to what the setting and theme could be?
