Ars Technica and their always informative retail mole leaked shipped copies of Patapon 2 would be a download voucher inside a UMD case. Sony later confirmed the rumor explaining the $20 retail game will also be available on the PlayStation Store on the same date for $15.
Last fall, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan introduced a similar strategy for first party games where downloadable versions would be simultaneously launched for a slightly lower price. The difference is retail versions of Loco Roco 2, Bleach: Soul Carnival, and Patapon 2 came with a physical UMD disc.

A trademark filed last week by Sony Computer Entertainment America seems to confirm rumors we posted last month of a upcoming Warhawk title set in space.
SCE filed a trademark for Spacehawk on April 9 for a computer or video game and operating a real-time game for others over a global and local area computer network.
Last month we broke the news that Dylan Jobe and other members of Incognito Entertainment had left the company to form their own studio.
We also reported that sources had told us that LightBox Interactive Studio was hard at work on a new take on Warhawk. The game, described as Warhawk in space, has been in development for some time, we reported.
Reached for comment in March Jobe told Kotaku that it was too early to comment on what they were working on, but that they have some "really exciting stuff in development that our Warhawk fans *and* new players will love."
All signs seem to point to Warhawk in space.
We've contacted Jobe for comment and will update if and when we hear back

Sony contends that the PlayStation 3 maintains a higher attach rate for blockbuster games than the Xbox 360, and has the numbers to back up the claim.
Information delivered to Gamasutra in preparation for an interview with Sony's Peter Dille included several examples of the how blockbuster titles sell nearly as many or more copies on the PlayStation 3 than on the Xbox 360. Take the example of Street Fighter IV. Sony says that Capcom's eagerly-anticipated sequel has only sold around 44,000 copies more on the Xbox 360 than the PlayStation 3, with a much higher overall attach rate. 402,919 copies of the game sold represents a 5.5% game to console percentage for the PS3, while the Xbox 360's 446,435 units only represents 3.1% of consoles in North America.
Tomb Raider: Underworld represents the biggest triumph cited by Sony in terms of sales numbers, with the PlayStation 3 version outselling the 360 136,245 to 108,784, though with numbers that low I wouldn't exactly be calling Underworld a blockbuster title.
Other examples provided include Ubisoft's Prince of Persia and Grand Theft Auto 4, both of while have sold more copies on the Xbox 360, but maintain a higher attach rate on the PS3.
In case those numbers weren't enough, Sony also takes the opportunity to challenge Microsoft's response to the February NPD results, in which they boasted 130 games rated 80 or above on Metacritic, pointing out that while in sheer size the number is impressive, as of April Sony has a larger percentage of games scoring over 80%, with 31% of their games scoring in the upper reaches as compared to Microsoft's 23%.
Sony also notes that the majority of the 360's 80%+ scores are for games published in 2006 and 2007, "when the console had little to no competition".
It's all a matter of twisting and turning numbers around to make them look better. Which numbers look better to you?

In all of the commotion surrounding Konami's upcoming documentary-style combat game Six Days In Fallujah, we hadn't actually learned what platforms the game was coming to. Now we know.
Konami officially announced the development of the already controversial game today, revealing that the title is in development for the usual current-generation suspects - the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. An odd oversight, considering we've posted four different stories on the game since the first reveal, but when your concept makes this much noise I suppose it is easy for the little details to get lost.

Q Games will release PixelJunk Eden expansion Encore on PSN this week. It'll cost USD 5.99.
That's what developer boss Dylan Cuthbert says on the US PlayStation blog, where he also reveals that work on a fourth game is well under way.
"We’re busy working the fourth instalment for PixelJunk and I’ll post more info about that in a little while. All I can say is that the game is really unique and a lot of fun - and very pretty to look at," offers Cuthbert, the cagey fox.
PixelJunk Eden Encore adds five new stages to the game, each accompanied by new music and complimented by new backgrounds. Apparently quite a lot of effort has gone in.
Q Games will also retrofit a new three-seed smartbomb to the original PixelJunk Eden game. This makes all Prowlers explode into pollen when three full seeds are jumped into in a row.

via Eurogamer
Capcom has denied that the Versus downloadable content for Resident Evil 5 is no more than a key that unlocks the mode already on the game disc, despite being only 1.86 MB in size.
"Keys are 100 [kilobytes] or less," Christian Svensson, Capcom's vice president of corporate development, said on the company's message boards (spotted by Variety).
"It is not a key. We have said in the past, it uses assets from the disc (like levels, models, audio, etc.) but the code is new and does not exist on the disc. "
The small size of the download had led many players to suspect they were being charged 400 Microsoft Points, GBP 3.99 or USD 4.99 to unlock content they'd effectively already bought on the game disc. This stance was backed up by IGN last week, which claimed that "you are not, in fact, downloading the content from Xbox Live Marketplace or PlayStation Network. Instead, you are downloading a key that unlocks content already on the RE5 retail disc. The same disc you paid USD 60 for a month ago."
As our review points out, Versus re-uses the visuals, audio, maps and basic mechanics of the existing Mercenaries mode. Capcom's contention is that the code that sets the game rules for Versus and makes it work is all contained in those 1.86 MB.
This is certainly feasible - any programmer will tell you that you can fit an awful lot of lines of code in 1.86 MB, and that it's graphics and audio that take up all the space. But it seems that the problem is one of perception, of players feeling that they're getting something for their money when paying for DLC.

via Eurogamer
Sony has announced the first downloadable content for Killzone 2 is coming later this month.
The Steel & Titanium Pack will include two brand new maps for online multiplayer fun.
First up is the Wasteland Bullet map, where the action takes place on the bullet train linking Pyrrhus and the Wasteland. You have to wrestle control of the train from the enemy as it hurtles along the track at full speed. Overhead obstacles are likely to prove a particular problem as they can cause instant death.
Then there's the Vekta Cruiser map. ISA troops aboard a huge ship have to repel a force of Helghast troops, and protect the cruiser from Helghan fire. The action all takes place indoors and is said to be "hauntingly claustrophobic", with danger lurking around every corner.
It's not known how much, or indeed whether, you'll have to pay for the maps. But Sony has confirmed the Steel & Titanium Pack will be released via PlayStation Network on 30th April.

News/release from Matiaz of a new version of the Hello World for PSP Firmware 5.03 that supports both Slim and Original PSPs.
Hello World for PSP firmware 5.03
The days of TIFF based exploits aren't long gone, at least not yet
Here's the third TIFF exploit for the PSP, enjoy.
Just copy the files to the memory stick root, disconnect USB and go to photo menu.
Don't dismiss the exploit even if it doesn't work on the first time, it's *very* unstable.
You might get it working on the first time, but you might as well have to try it 20 times!
The h.bin is loaded to 0x08800000, and the text address of paf.prx is passed in $a0 to the
binary code. You can then trick out function imports, like for example sceDisplayWaitVblankStart:
sceDisplayWaitVblankStart = (void*)(paf_addr+0x15F068);
Instructions:
1. Copy either slim.tiff or phat.tiff to /PSP/PHOTO/ folder on the memory stick, depending on
your PSP model. Do NOT copy both!
2. Copy h.bin to the root of the memory stick.
Thanks to malloxis, FreePlay, Archaemic, wololo, Cloudy, Davee and everyone else who was involved.
Have fun!
P.S. Just wait a few days, there's a bit of awesomeness coming up.
- MaTiAz

News/release from ardatan
You know, Sony limits our memory in Internet Browser. So we cannot play big flash games and open big web sites.
This mod removes this limitation. And you can use all of the memory that your PSP has.
If your PSP is Fat, the HighMemMod uses all of 32 MB RAM.
If your PSP is Slim, the HighMemMod uses all of 64 MB RAM!!!
That's very interesting, isn't it?
Now the browser loads your pages in very short seconds!
You can play your online flash games fast...
The program is beta so it may be buggy. If you see any problems, please reply this topic....
----What's new----
-The new logo was added(Thanks, Lelouch15)
-The speed on Slim was increased(%200).
--There is a bug which the mod didn't use UMD Cache and it used the same memory part with Fat... Fixed...
-The mouse lag was fixed on Slim(Sometimes it may lag).
-XMB Plugin was added...
--If you want to use this mod instead of the default one, you should flash vsh folder...(flash0)..
-Etc. Etc.
---Thanks---
-Dark-Alex for his ramtestsample...(Large Memory)
-PSPSDK creators...(SDK, DEV and samples)
-JK108 and Lelouch15 for their support and test(They are my testers)
-Mazide for the good theme(EBOOT).
-Lelouch15 for the new logo

News/release from Light_AleX
This is some little project that just makes life so much easier.
For people who buy PSN games from many regions.
This allows people who buy PSN games from many regions without being forced to activate and deactivate their PSPs again and again just to switch from one game to another.
It can do the following:
Backup your PSN license.
Restore your PSN license.
Delete the backup license on the memory stick.
Licenses can only be used on ONE PSP so don't think this is a piracy helper.
TESTED ON 5.00M33-6
LEDA was not installed and no 1.50 kernel.
Please read readme before installing and use at your own risk.
Some more little functions may be added in the future.
PSN Manager 0.1
Enjoy.

News/release from art
Hi Guys,
Bitmap Hunter is a homebrew program for Sony PSP designed to hunt,
and directly edit monochrome or 256 colour bitmaps within firmware files
for electronic devices so they can be user customised.
This one was inspired by HACKBMAP.EXE by Datrex, a DOS application
used to hunt for bitmaps within Garmin Etrex GPS firmware files.
eTrex fan&tuning page
Hackbmp.exe did not have the functionality to edit images,
so it was only good for finding bitmap offsets to be later edited with other tools.
Screenshots provided show samples from Garmin GPSmap 60CSx GPS latest firmware.
The 60CSx image is proof of concept, as there is no provision to edit the intro screen image of the GPSmap 60 series.
I don't expect many (if any) of the PSP or GPS community to find a use for this, due to it's nature,
and the requirement of both Homebrew capable PSP and Garmin GPS hardware.
Greetings to Datrex, and the guys who customised the Garmin etrex for
mountain biking:
The etrex Mountain Biker
I've upgraded to the 60CSX, and keen to be the first to customise it
beyond the ways intended by the manufacturer!
Cheers, Art.

News/release from mr305
The Original Concept, back in September 2008.
Info:
TweakDISPLAY brings to you 23 INCREDIBLE Real Time visual effects that in that work in both Homebrew and Retail Games as well as in the XMB for watching UMD's, pictures, videos.
The newness that you'll discover in your device by using this, would be comparable to upgrading from Black & White TV to a modern digital HDTV.
The main priority has been to create a very heavily optimized and tweaked product that would excite everyone. With performance being maxed out, most of the effects including Flipped XMB run at FULL 60 FPS and with memory footprint being virtually ZERO - you can't go wrong.
With this release TweakDISPLAY has now reached 1.0.
The Effects, in no particular order:
- GRAYSCALE mode, World's first for the any Homebrewable Handheld device to date!
- Contrast Boost (PSP 3000 Display Emulation)
- Physical Display Flip Mode (Totally Flipped Display and Controls)
- Brightness Boost
- Color Filters
- Stylish Music Visualizer
- Color Filters, Negatives
- Artistic modes for watching Videos.
-- And a LOT MORE!!
Changelog:
Code:
-> VshMenu Now works.
-> NEW EFFECT: Added Flip Mode 30 Stable; No memory leaks, no crashes, No screen artifacts, however 30fps.
(Note: Once you go over onto the experimental mode, the PSP is may crash at any time, so, going back to this effect wont help.)
-> SPEED BOOST for "Brightness Boost" effect: +15-20fps. (Keys: TRIANGLE+SQUARE + Analog Up/Down)
-> SPEED BOOST for "Contrast Boost" effect: +15-20fps
-> Bug fix: In Flip Mode, When the effect was toggled to off, the keys werenot mapped back correctly; Fixed.
-> Changed controls: LTRIGGER + RTRIGGER = Toggle current Effect.
-> Changed controls: Now uses TRIANGLE + LTRIGGER/RTRIGGER to change effect; the controls are “invisible”, wont affect the what's happening on screen.
-> Snappier responce when Brigtness is adjusted in brightness mode.
-> Miscellaneous code cleanups. Controls:
TRIANGLE+RTRIGGER/LTRIGGER - Change Effect
LTRIGGER + RTRIGGER = Toggle Effect
TRIANGLE + SQUARE + ANALOG UP/DOWN - Adjust Brightness (in Brightness Boost mode)
