Namco Bandai is making a new game to celebrate and capitalize on Kamen Rider Decade. Kamen Rider: Climax Heroes is a bit different from the other Kamen Rider fighting games, it covers ten series instead of one. Think of this mashup as the Marvel Super Heroes of Kamen Rider.
But, don’t expect the gameplay to be as sophisticated as Capcom’s fighting game. Impress Watch notes the game has a dynamic and simple battle system for players to enjoy. They also have a set of screenshots which won’t wow anyone. Now that Namco Bandai are a unified entity they could use the Tekken or Soulcalibur engine for a Kamen Rider game.
Fans of the series can expect more than 40 forms from the following series.
Series covered by Kamen Rider: Climax Heroes:
Kamen Rider Kuuga
Kamen Rider Agito
Kamen Rider Ryuki
Kamen Rider Faiz
Kamen Rider Blade
Kamen Rider Hibiki
Kamen Rider Kabuto
Kamen Rider Den-O
Kamen Rider Kiva
Kamen Rider Decade

After two PSP Ys games Falcom will work on their other staple RPG series, the Legend of Heroes. A pre-order bonus from Ys Seven subtly announces the Legend of Heroes VII.
Reserve Ys Seven and you get a 32 page color picture book with a first glimpse of the project. Falcom has not announced a release date or a system for the Legend of Heroes VII.
I’m betting its on PSP. What Falcom console game hasn’t come out on the PSP? Also, it doesn’t seem logical for Falcom to pair this item with a PSP game if it wasn’t being released on the PSP. But, then again Squaresoft released a Final Fantasy X demo with the PS1 version of Final Fantasy VI in Europe so….

Ever wonder how Sony managed to sell over 100 million PlayStations? Edge magazine takes a trip through Sony history.
If, after reading Douglass Perry's on-going series on the fall of Nintendo, you wished someone would tackle chief console manufacturing rival Sony, look no further than the magazine feature Edge has recently posted to its Web site. Relying heavily on the recollections of Infogrames President and former Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Executive Phil Harrison, the story weaves through the decision making processes that gave birth to "a new way of doing business."
Ultimately, it transformed the games market.
Most know, of course, that much of Sony's success was due to its bet on new technology offered at an affordable price point. (What you might not know is Harrison feared everyone was going to "hate" the PlayStation name.) But it was Sony Computer Entertainment's Chief Executive Ken Kutaragi's vision of the Playstation as a gaming machine--not a multimedia device--that shaped such a successful console.
It is ironic then, that the PlayStation 3 is marketed as a multimedia device. As Edge concludes, it is the complete lack of a singular vision for its latest console that caused Sony to cede its market position to Nintendo this generation.

Revealing FUEL's unique GPS system, which calculates routes through the game's diverse 5,000 square mile world on the fly, Codemasters has released the new 'GPS' gameplay video, now available to view and download from the game's all-new online destination at www.fuel-game.com.
With a succession of flowing arrows, that guide gamers from checkpoint to chequered flag, FUEL's elegant solution calculates routes dynamically and constantly updates according to vehicle position, in conjunction with a mini-map which pinpoints each racer's location.
However, in FUEL the suggested route is not always the quickest. As players master their vehicles they can take on riskier – and potentially more rewarding – shortcuts, veering off the suggested line. The GPS system can also be turned off for the ultimate man and machine versus Mother Nature challenge.
Gamers can view the video and find out more about FUEL by navigating their way to the newly launched, www.fuel-game.com. On the site, each of the game's 19 regions can be explored across an interactive map that enables players to zoom in and out of the largest racing environment ever. Information on the multi-class vehicle roster, extensive online options and different events can all be accessed. Visitors can also download the latest screens and videos and register to have the latest FUEL news and updates sent directly to their in-boxes.
Coming this May, FUEL is the ultimate racing sandbox where players can race and explore a stunning world, mapped from satellite data of the United States, in a range of on and off-road, two and four wheeled vehicles. Set in an alternate present where the accelerated effects of global warming have driven people from their homes, the huge, abandoned areas become a playground for a new breed of extreme racers.
A full day/night cycle and dynamic weather effects including snowstorms, thunderstorms, blizzards, rainstorms and tornados brings this world alive. Players take on hundreds of race events in a wide range of customised vehicles, including quads, bikes, roadsters, trucks, dragsters and more, that all share rewarding and exhilarating arcade handling.
With extensive multiplayer options including 16 player multi-class racing, online free-ride and a powerful yet intuitive race editor to share races with friends, FUEL is set to revolutionize open world multi-terrain racing when it launches on Tuesday, May 26th for the PLAYSTATION 3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Games For Windows.

China's alternative to Blu-ray finally has some hardware to show off, with players from TCL and Shinco making their debut this week. Priced at less than 2,000 yuan ($292) they're reportedly 40% cheaper than the competition, and while the promised support from Warner Bros. has yet to materialize it plans to release 100 movies on the CBHD format by the end of the year. That's about all the machine translation could help us make out beyond the usual promise of lower licensing fees for Chinese manufacturers, but a better look at the latest (and by far most legit, although that's not saying much) Blu-ray fighter is beyond the read link.

Two years after we thought it was all over, it sounds like the saga of Sony, Immersion, and the rumblin' DualShock has yet another chapter: a New Jersey electrical engineer named Craig Thorner is now suing Sony and its attorneys, claiming that he was more or less duped out of one of his patents in a shady deal designed to help Sony and PDP/Electrosource beat Immersion's cases against them. Oh yeah, it's a tangled mess -- Thorner first signed over his patent to Immersion, hoping to score a little slice of royalty pie when the lawsuit settled, but then took it back when he decided Immersion wasn't pursuing it hard enough and signed it over to PDP/Electrosource, who promised him $150,000. So where does Sony come in? Thorner says PDP and Sony were teamed up to beat Immersion, and that Sony was secretly the one licensing the patent but trying to remain out of the picture to keep the price down -- and he's got proof, in the form of a $150,000 wire transfer between the two companies. Not only that, but Sony's attorneys apparently promised Thorner that they could "wear two hats" during negotiations and represent both him and Sony, which is ten kinds of shady. You can guess what happened next: Sony lost, PDP settled, and Immersion sued Thorner for breaking his agreement -- and Sony's attorneys didn't help him defend the lawsuit. Did we say ten kinds of shady? Eleven kinds. Of course, it's doubtful that Thorner is totally innocent here, so it'll be interesting to see how Sony responds, but at this point we're treating the DualShock 3 as a miracle of nature and leaving it at that.

Paramount Digital Entertainment, Bad Robot Interactive, CBS and Naked Sky Entertainment today announced the launch of Star Trek: D-A-C, coming to Xbox LIVE? Arcade for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft this May, and to PlayStation Network and Windows PC shortly thereafter. Inspired by the upcoming "Star Trek" movie from Paramount Pictures, Star Trek: D-A-C is a fast-paced, top-down space shooter where players take the captain's chair and engage in intense online multi-player or co-op battles. Pick up and play, then lead your team to victory.
"The upcoming 'Star Trek' film has ignited interest among a new generation of fans as well as longtime fans of the original," said Tom Lesinski, President Paramount Pictures Digital Entertainment. MMA is said to be the fastest growing sport in the world and we're just under a month from the first next gen MMA game, UFC 2009. The game will try to mix the stunning graphics of a next gen console with the gritty and brutal action of cage fighting. Sound good to you? Me too. Does a month sound like too long? The demo is out today!
If you're familiar with the sport of MMA you'll know that there is literally an infinite number of strikes, counters, grapples, takedowns, transitions, submissions and whatever else I missed. This sport is anything but simple and there are only so many buttons on a controller so the real question is how will it work? In short: it works pretty well. Basically you're cross and circle buttons control your fighter's left and right legs while the triangle and square buttons control the left and right arms. While stationary pressing any of those buttons results in quick snapping strikes. Push them while moving towards, away from or parallel to you're opponent and you get things like over-hand right's, uppercuts and hooks. Finally add in the L1 and L2 buttons which direct strikes at the head and body respectively and the R1 and R2 which block high and low throughout the game and you have a pretty deep striking system.
True cage fighting aficionados will know that the standing aspect is only half of the action. There's still the clinch and the ground game and UFC 2009 handles them both admirably. The clinch is accessed with the right analog stick. You can either hit it right to clinch when they're open or wait for them to strike and counter it with a well timed right analog stick movement up or down depending on the strike in question. A striking clinch like the Muay Tai clinch is accessed by pressing L1 while using the right stick as before. You can then toss your opponent around with the right stick while firing off devastating knees with the face buttons and the L buttons to aim them high of low.
Takedowns are preformed by holding the L2 button with the right stick towards your opponent. Once on the ground you can transition to different positions like side control, half guard or full mount by moving the right analog in one direction and then around in a half circle. Different directions control if its a minor or major transition. Both of these have their advantages and risks. When you have them where you want you can either beat them into a bloody pulp with the face buttons or hit L3 to do a submission as long as its properly timed. That will cause both players to begin frantically moving their right analog stick in circles to escape/make them tap or hitting the face buttons to pummel their way out. While the submissions work, they are easily the weakest link in a game with otherwise very solid gameplay.
As you can see in the screenshots above the game is very pretty. You can see realistic damage accumulate through the course of a fight and blood begin to trickle down after a vicious elbow. The crowd looks a bit bland but everything else from Joe Rogan's commentary to the stylish menu system is top notch. It looks like we might have a new sports series that will be around for a while. Release date is May 19th.
This preview was based on the PS3 demo.

Square Enix has explained what will be different in the retail version of Final Fantasy XIII compared with the recently-released Japanese demo.
Crucially, levels and summons will be added to FFXIII, according to a list on 1UP that is compiled from various internet destinations.
Battle difficulty will be greatly increased, too, making this "the most difficult Final Fantasy ever", if director Motomu Toriyama is to be believed. And while the demo only focuses on one player, the retail version of the JRPG lets party members be controlled and commanded during battle. We'll be able to see combat from more angles, too.
Chain attacks will be vital in the full game, and no longer will characters continue to attack thin-air if they accidentally kill an enemy at the beginning of a chain. Snow will be tooled up at launch and no longer rely on his bare fists, too.
There's to be an "item" command added for battles, and more segments will be able to be added to the Time Gauge via a new character growth system.
Incidentally, the classic Final Fantasy victory fanfare will be there at launch and Square Enix is considering adding victory poses.
There will also be command shortcuts to speed proceedings, plus we're promised dialogue subtitles and a solid frame rate.
We went hands-on with the Final Fantasy XIII demo recently and conclude that "things are looking overwhelmingly positive".
The prospect of a European demo, however, isn't. A solid release date for Final Fantasy XIII here is also unknown, with a broad 2010 estimation our only signpost so far.
Japan, on the other hand, receives Final Fantasy XIII this winter exclusively on PlayStation 3.
The game will spread to Xbox 360 as it heads West.

The series of Dungeon Maker games, Class of Heroes, and Dungeon Explorer make the PSP is the system to own for classic dungeon crawling. Add Elminage II to that list. Starfish announced a sequel to the PlayStation 2/Nintendo DS remix is scheduled to come out in Japan this summer.
Thus far none of the Elminage games have been localized, but UFO Interactive who primarily localizes Starfish’s stuff took a hiatus after publishing Ultimate Shooting Collection.

The thought of a Western company localizing and distributing Agarest Senki boggles the mind. Looks like it’s going to happen thanks in part to European bargain bin publisher Midas Interactive.
A rating for Agarest: Generations of War as a PlayStation 3 game popped up in Germany. The name definitely fits. Also, Midas Interactive worked with Idea Factory, the parent company of Compile Heart, in the past by crazily localizing Spectral vs. Generation. The fighting game’s biggest selling point is Neverland characters from Generation of Chaos and Spectral games which were never released in Europe prior to Spectral vs. Generation. Midas Interactive was brazen enough to publish that and localizing Agarest: Generations of War isn’t as weird.
Agarest: Generations of War is a generic strategy RPG that became notable or perhaps, notorious, for its Soul Breed system where you date and mate to make the next generation of heroes. The game got a 12+ rating so it might not be as dirty as it sounds or Midas Interactive cut the suggestive bits. Either way if you’ve been dying to play Agarest Senki you can get the game in Europe sometime in the future.

This month sees an update for PlayStation Home. That update sees new things, like this Disgaea lounge where folks can play mini-games like a Disgaea test, a card game and a block game.
There are other things, too: Street Fighter IV avatar items and the ability to start-up SFIV games with folks you've met in Home, and Uncharted Waters Online〜Cruz del Sur〜 will make Home items available to players.

EA studio reveals game is built on same engine as traditional retail releases
Electronic Arts' Swedish studio DICE has this afternoon confirmed that its new game Battlefield 1943 will be sold for $15 when it launches later this year.
The game, one of EA's first download-only/digital distributed titles, is a sequel to DICE's famed Battlefield 1942 and is built with the same engine as more recent Battlefield titles.
It will be available for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC and will not be released as a boxed product.
EA and DICE are referring to the game as a 'premium download title'.

Bitmap Hunter V4
Hi Guys,
Bitmap Hunter is a homebrew program for Sony PSP designed to hunt,
and directly edit monochrome or 256 colour bitmaps within firmware files for electronic devices
so they can be user customised.
This one was inspired by HACKBMAP.EXE by Datrex, a DOS application
used to hunt for bitmaps within Garmin Etrex GPS firmware files.
http://etrex.webz.cz/hack.html
Hackbmp.exe did not have the functionality to edit images,
so it was only good for finding bitmap offsets to be later edited with other tools.
Screenshots provided show samples from Garmin GPSmap 60CSx GPS latest firmware.
The 60CSx images are proof of concept, as there is no provision to edit the intro screen image
of the GPSmap 60 series, and the USB screen is also different.
I don't expect many (if any) of the PSP or GPS community to find a use for this,
due to the requirement of both Homebrew capable PSP and Garmin GPS hardware.
I think Apple Ipod firmware can be used with this too, although I don't have one to try.
Greetings to Datrex, and the guys who customised the Garmin etrex for
mountain biking:

I've upgraded to the 60CSX, and keen to be the first to customise it
beyond the ways intended by the manufacturer!
YouTube Video (shows GPS with modified screens at the end) :
Cheers, Art.

You’ve heard the rumors, you’ve seen the mock-up pictures, and now you get to know that yes, the next PSP does actually exist. Although we can’t get any pictures, hardware specs, or official announcements from Sony themselves, we can confirm that it’s been shown to some people, one of whom is VERY reliable regarding such matters. Our inside source recently met with Sony representatives, where he was shown the next iteration of the PSP, but not allowed to play with it.
According to our source the ‘Next PlayStation Portable’ includes these features:
Rounded Edges
Dual analog sticks
Small sliding screen
Similar size and thickness to current PSP model
No UMD drive
This means it’s not shaped like the mockup pictured above, rather “it’s ugly and still bulky, and is (an) ugly gray color.” It does however include several of the features we would expect it to have which correlate to previous reports coming from Dave Perry. The same source also tells us that “Patapon 2 is kinda the test drive [for digital distribution], heard it said that if it fails massively, then Sony may reinstate the UMD drive. Said they are working out bugs for release.” Interesting.
Not only that, but our source has also confirmed that a $100 price cut is coming to the PS3 at E3, which we assume covers all existing models. Apparently vendors across the United States are stockpiling PlayStation 3 consoles in preparation for the drop at E3. We have contacted SCEA for confirmation on this story so, hopefully, more developments will be posted as we receive them.
UPDATE: We contacted Julie Han at Corporate Communications who thanked us for informing her that we will be running the story before responding “I don’t know who your source is, but Sony is not in the business of answering rumors.” I guess we shall see at E3 because that surely is NOT a denial on their part. More news if it comes in!
