The ScummVM Team have released a new version of scummvm, heres the details:
It was not that long since our previous release, and now here is a new bugfix release hot off the press!
The list of fixed bugs is quite long, and you could read all of it in the release notes, but here is a summary for those of you who are too lazy to follow the links and eager to play the games better.
SAGA: Inherit the Earth is completable again; AGOS, Groovie, Sword2: fixed many sound-related issues; Parallaction: fixed a bug in one of the puzzles; squashed a number of bugs in the GUI. Also iPhone, Symbian, WinCE ports are much improved and NDS and PS2 ports are back again since 0.11.0.
ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games, provided you already have their data files. The clever part about this: ScummVM just replaces the executables shipped with the games, allowing you to play them on systems for which they were never designed!
Some of the adventures ScummVM supports include Adventure Soft's Simon the Sorcerer 1 and 2; Revolution's Beneath A Steel Sky, Broken Sword 1 and Broken Sword 2; Flight of the Amazon Queen; Wyrmkeep's Inherit the Earth; Coktel Vision's Gobliiins; Westwood Studios' The Legend of Kyrandia and games based on LucasArts' SCUMM (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) system such as Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max and more. You can find a thorough list with details on which games are supported and how well on the compatibility page. ScummVM is continually improving, so check back often.

Finnish developer Housemarque is best known for its PSN-exclusive Super Stardust HD. However, the studio has ambitious plans to expand and become a "small boutique publisher" of new IPs. The team is currently working on three different games in an attempt to expand their portfolio and experiment with new gameplay ideas.
First up is a PSN-exclusive game to be announced at Gamescom in Cologne this year. CEO Ilari Kuittinen told Gamasutra that the exclusive went to Sony to continue the team's "good relationship" with the company. The second title is the studio's first multiplatform game for a "leading publisher." "We haven't done this kind of a game genre before," said Kuittinen.
Finally, Housemarque is also working on a third title, called Rope, a physics-based puzzle game that has players using a rope to flock "fuzzy characters" to a goal. (A rather stark change of pace from planet-destroying asteroids.) It's what Housemarque hopes will be one of its first self-published games. Rope is currently approved for PlayStation Network, but the developer is also talking with Microsoft, and is thinking about an iPhone or WiiWare version.

In one of his last public appearances as president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, David Reeves last week paid tribute to Capcom and announced details of the two companies' plans to introduce Monster Hunter Freedom Unite to PAL territories.
Reeves announced that MHFU would be launched as part of a PSP hardware bundle when the game goes on sale on 26th June, and that a demo version would be released beforehand on both UMD and as a digital download.
The idea is to encourage people to discover the game's ad hoc wireless mode, which has been wildly popular in Japan, where the game - known as Monster Hunter Portable 2G - has already sold more than three million copies.
"We know that our own Sony software line-up, and to some extent the third parties', has not lived up always to expectations. But tonight is a prime example of how that has been rectified," Reeves told a gathering of the world's press at Captivate 09 in Monaco last Tuesday evening.
"Monster Hunter Freedom Unite will spearhead the PSP resurgence of 2009, we believe, and I would like to thank Capcom for their unwavering support in this endeavour."
"One of the key demographics for PSP in Europe is the ten to 16 year-old male - the ideal demographic for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite," Reeves explained. "By combining the skills and know-how that Capcom and PlayStation possess, we feel we can excite this audience with this fantastic game.
"We firmly believe that if we can get people actually playing Monster Hunter Freedom Unite together in ad hoc mode - which not many Europeans do, but Japanese do all the time - even if it's only for a few minutes, we can create enough intrigue and excitement for them to want to experience more."
Reeves also thanked Capcom for its unwavering support for PlayStation during his nearly 15 years at the head of Sony's European division. Senior Capcom personnel indicated that the tenor of the outgoing Sony boss's speech was not decided in advance, and came as a pleasant surprise.
"I'm here talking to you because I believe that the relationship between Capcom and PlayStation is one that's been cultivated over the years to create some of the greatest partnerships that the game industry has ever seen," Reeves said. "And it's a relationship that promises to continue for years to come."
"The reason these relationships have remained so strong is because we are indeed like-minded, iconoclastic companies, companies that strive for the same goal, to create innovative, and more than anything, fun experiences," he concluded.

US indie outfit Atomic Games, developers of the divisive Iraq War title Six Days in Fallujah, has responded to Konami’s surprise decision to withdraw from publishing the game.
On Monday it was revealed that Konami had abandoned a publishing deal with Atomic, following sustained public criticism of the game’s content and setting.
In a statement released to Develop, Atomic President Peter Tamte that the studio “was informed on Thursday night [April 23] that Konami had decided to pull out of Six Days in Fallujah.”
He added that the decision had “caught us by surprise.”
On Monday a Konami spokesperson said that “after seeing the reaction to the videogame in the United States, and hearing opinions sent through phone calls and e-mail, we decided several days ago not to sell [Six Days in Fallujah].”

Another add-on pack for Pain, called Sore Spots, is set to arrive next month. Spore Spots will include two new environments for the human slingshot game.
The Morningwood High Gymnasium will offer two different layouts and a mode called Mad Science, where mixing chemicals will create an explosive reaction. Area 69, the second new environment, is a top secret government research facility populated with aliens.
A surprise multiplayer mode is also being added. While the makers of Pain aren't divulging any real details, they do say this secret mode is something the fans have asked for. A new character from a Sony game is being added, but again the identity is being kept a secret for now.
Sore Spots is set for release in May.

Following Sony’s revelation earlier this month that it is to release upcoming PSP sequel Patapon 2 in digital form only in North America, Capcom has now joined the party by announcing a non-UMD PSP title of its own.
GameSpot reports that Capcom will release 2D fighter Fate/Unlimited Codes on PSN later this year. It’s based on a 2008 arcade and PS2 outing and stems from interactive graphic novel Fate/Stay Night.
Whether or not the title would have received a boxed release in the West is open to debate – but if not, then would a digital-only future for the PSP allow publishers to be more brave with their publishing decisions?
Fate/Unlimited Codes will cost $29.99 in North America. There’s no word yet on whether the game will make it to Europe – be it in a box or over the digital tubes.

via Games Industry
Sony's outgoing president David Reeves has said that Capcom's continued support for the PlayStation brand has helped the company establish all of its home consoles on the market, from the original PlayStation to the PS3.
And as the companies prepare a new Monster Hunter hardware bundle for release in June, Reeves said that Capcom can help Sony put the PSP at the forefront of handheld gaming this year.
"The relationship between Capcom and PlayStation goes all the way back to the very start of PlayStation in 1994 when it was introduced in the end of November/beginning of December in Japan. Games such as Mega Man, Street Fighter and Resident Evil helped establish the PlayStation brand and truly showed how gaming was changing forever,” said Reeves at last week's Captivate event, reports Eurogamer.net.
"This relationship has continued throughout PlayStation 1's lifecycle, through to PlayStation 2, with games such as Devil May Cry, and of course into the latest generation of home and portable consoles with PS3 and PSP."
The Monster Hunter bundle will come with a copy of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, and a demo will be made available on UMD and via the PlayStation Network in the run up to release.
Reeves admitted that some PSP software and support has been lacking, but 2009 is shaping up to be an important year for the handheld - promising more unveilings for the hardware later in the year.
"I'm not going to stand here and tell you we've had it all our own way since we launched the PSP. We know that our own Sony software line-up, and to some extent the third parties', has not lived up always to expectations.
"2009 promises to be a very important year for PSP, with its strongest software line-up ever, with some exciting surprises yet to be announced," added Reeves.
"Monster Hunter Freedom Unite will spearhead the PSP resurgence of 2009, we believe, and I would like to thank Capcom for their unwavering support in this endeavour."
Reeves said that the reason Sony and Capcom's relationship has remained strong over the year's is due to both company's taking chances and being willing to experiment with new gaming experiences.
"The industry has changed beyond recognition throughout the 15 years that I've been part of it, yet the relationships between companies such as Capcom and PlayStation have remained constant.
"This is not because tradition states they should, this is not because we're afraid to shake things up - the reason these relationships have remained so strong is because we are indeed like-minded, iconoclastic companies, companies that strive for the same goal, to create innovative, and more than anything, fun experiences."

It's official, Marvel VS Capcom 2 is coming out for PSN and XBLA!
Source: http://www.capcom-unity.com/sven/blo...s_mvc2_is_real
In what will inevitably go down as the worst kept industry secret in recent years, I’m very happy to finally be able to confirm that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will be coming to Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network this summer.
The deal took a good while but it’s probably our most requested title to bring back, so Marvel and I and a few other people here at Capcom rolled up our sleeves and got it done. I can’t stress enough, if you ask for something loudly enough and long enough, we’ll work very hard to make it happen.
So while you may have been able to surmise that something was going on with MvC2, we do still have a few surprises up our sleeves. Let me tell you a little more about how and why this version of MvC2 will be the definitive version.
1. It’s based on the Dreamcast code base – While the PS2 and Xbox versions of MvC2 were great, there are a few niggling issues in them that have caused the competitive community to continue using the Dreamcast version of the game. We wanted to bring you the very best version of the game, so we listened to the community and started with the Dreamcast.
2. There is online – With the game being developed by Backbone, we are using largely the same, critically acclaimed net code that we used in Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix and with that will come our player match quarter mode/lobby system that has proven so popular. Naturally leaderboards and some form of stats tracking (details to be provided at a later date) will also be in the mix. So on the net code side, you’re pretty much assured the best fighting game net code ever created for consoles.
3. HD upscaling options – Given that most people play Xbox 360s and PS3s on HD TVs, it’s important to help make the game look better. We’ve refined our real-time sprite filtering to use even more advanced techniques and we’re providing two upscaling options for the sprites… one we’ve termed “Crisp” the other we’ve termed “Smooth”. It’s a matter of personal preference for which one you’ll enjoy more. For purists, if you’d like you can use the “Classic” setting, which leaves the sprites completely unfiltered. Because the filtering is applied in real-time, you can change these settings on the fly, mid-match if you choose. Our producer will be showing you some comparison screenshots in the coming days to better clarify the differences. The backgrounds in MvC2 are all 3D, and when rendered at higher resolutions look fantastic. The original textures and assets from the Dreamcast were actually much higher quality than the Dreamcast could really display at the time and when shown in HD, the impact is really quite amazing.
4. Widescreen – Again, with most people playing on HD displays, we wanted to figure out how to implement widescreen support. To do so, the camera field of view was widened (which we’re able to do because of the 3D backgrounds effectively running off the “edges” of the 4:3 scenario) and there are a few camera tricks that minimize any impact on the gameplay. Play area is unchanged, and this is not a zoom and crop like HD Remix was. To put it simply, the gameplay area will be in a 4:3 field, while the viewing area will be widescreen. At the same time, for purists and competitive play, a 4:3 option (with vertical bars on the left and right) still exists.
5. No unlocking – While we love giving people unlockables in games, for this outing, there’s not a lot of surprises in terms of what characters are in the game. All 56 characters will be unlocked at the start for immediate play, again great for tournament play where players won’t need to mess with save game data or hacked versions (/shame).
6. Music Options – We love MvC2 but the original “jazzy” music has long been criticized even by ardent fans. Independent music volume controls and support of custom soundtracks on PS3 and 360 we deemed an important feature. Purists will still have what they love and fans of customization are also served.
And as an added bonus, some of you will get to play it sooner than you think. The US PlayStation network will have the demo available for download this week (Europe’s PSN should follow not far after). Surprise.
Theres a hd teaser for the newMarvel Vs Capcom 2 release here:

News/release from indrora
Howdy, y'all!
I'm brand SPANKIN new to the developer side of the PSP homebew scene, so I thought I'd gen up a game I love for the PSP.
Nim!
Its a simple game. Try beating the cpu player
Its written in LUA using PGE Lua.
I've hosted it on my personal site:
Nim for the PSP
the game itself is addictive, and I'd appreciate feedback
UPDATE!
Found some bugs, did some tuning. Check the changelog for more information or just read on...
Initial Release (0.01)
- Its out there now! woohoo!
Second Release (0.02)
- Found a big crash where for whatever reason, there was a really nasty hang when trying to exit when at endgame or about screen. Offending code was a simple while(pge.controls.presse d() == false) do pge.controls.update() end loop, just added "and pge.running()" to check for running state.
- Updated the graphics a tad. Now the main background is simpler and there's more information on the about(/help) screen.

Sony has confirmed that Naughty Dog's PS3 action sequel Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will be graced with online multiplayer modes, including co-op.
At a preview event in Los Angeles last week, attended by Eurogamer, Naughty Dog surprised the press by showing deathmatch and 'Plunder' competitive modes for teams of five, and three-player co-op maps based on - but separate from - the single-player adventure. It's a departure for Uncharted; the first game was a strictly solo affair.
Plunder is a capture-the-flag variant in which teams of "heroes" and "villains" compete to find treasure and lug it to safe spots. Deathmatch is a straightforward race to a set kill count.
In the co-op mode shown, players battle through a level dominated by intense combat, occasionally teaming up to overcome physical obstacles.
There will also be a cinema mode similar to Halo 3's Theater, allowing players to record replays and direct the camera, and a linked website offering stats and leaderboards.
Uncharted 2 will have a public multiplayer beta test. US PS3 owners can get access by buying a copy of inFamous - Sony says it will be doing something similar in Europe too.

Today, the Asahi Shimbun reported that Konami will no longer be publishing the first-person shooter Six Days in Fallujah, which is set in Fallujah, Iraq. The game depicts the violent street battles between U.S. forces and Iraqi terrorists during a several-week period in 2004. The game was being developed by Atomic Games and was very accurate to the actual conflict.
A PR official from Konami offered this comment to the Asahi: "after seeing the reaction to the videogame in the United States and hearing opinions sent through phone calls and e-mail, we decided several days ago not to sell it. We had intended to convey the reality of the battles to players so that they could feel what it was like to be there."
The shooter, which was originally scheduled for a launch sometime in 2010, doesn't appear to be cancelled just yet. There is a possibility that a new publisher will pick up the Atomic Games project.

Sony has revealed that everyone who buys inFamous in the US will receive a bonus - access to the multiplayer beta test for Uncharted 2.
This is a US-specific promotion, but Sony has told Eurogamer that it's working on something for Europe that will be announced in due course.
Uncharted 2's multiplayer modes - five-on-five competitive matches and three-player co-op - have just been announced by Sony and developer Naughty Dog. You can read more about them in our hands-on preview.
This move echoes one made by Microsoft in 2007. Sony's rival included an invitation to the Halo 3 multiplayer beta with every copy of Realtime Worlds' open-world action game Crackdown. The parallels don't end there - inFamous is also an open-world actioner with a rooftop-hopping, superheroic theme.
Announcing the news at an event last week, Nate Fox, creative director of inFamous developer Sucker Punch, said: "We're so excited. Naughty Dog is like a brother studio to us."
We'll have more on inFamous in the coming days, so stay tuned.
