Activision's Call of Duty: World at War has spent half a year in the UK's top ten best-selling games chart.
The game was released on November 14 in the UK, and went on to take the number one spot in the charts and stay there for five consecutive weeks, narrowly missing out on the Christmas number one to EA's FIFA 09.
Downloads of the games DLC content – Map Pack 1 – have topped two million over PSN and Xbox Live, with a new set of DLC due next month.

Sony CEO and chairman, Sir Howard Stringer, has revealed company plans to expand the reach of the PlayStation Network to other devices - although he stopped short of specifying exactly what those devices would be.
In an interview with Nikkei Electronics Asia he discussed the conflict between open source and proprietary technologies, referencing mistakes made by the company in the past with respect to music file formats - mistakes which he believes the company has now learned from.
"Customers today want to be able to freely access content via the Internet, information technology," he said. "This requirement represents a threat to our content business, and to existing frameworks for rights management. I don't see that we have any choice, though. We have to create a sanctuary which provides customers an environment for their enjoyment."
"That is how we can change a threat to the content business into an opportunity. A lot of people thought Sony's content download service was doomed, but it's in a pretty good place right now in the form of the PlayStation Network, available to PS3 users for network gaming, video, etc. The DRM is based on Marlin, an open scheme developed by consumer electronics companies and other companies.
"What does all this mean? Very simply, it means that Sony has begun the transition from a closed system to an open one. I wish the Japanese media would recognise how important this is. I also put a lot of effort into making sure that many people understand the value of what Sony is trying to do here.
"Next we will be expanding the PlayStation Network to hardware other than the PS3, because the number of PS3 units sold puts a limit on the scale of the network possible. Sony has a vertical structure for each product line, an organisational structure that resists change, so it will take time to achieve this network growth. However, a large number of employees share my opinion on this," he added.

GamesIndustry.biz has received further information on Sony’s Pub Fund program for indie game developers, including confirmation of a budget cap and a clarification on its approval process.
During March’s Game Developers Conference, Sony development relations manager Chris Eden announced the Pub Fund, a program that sees Sony matching the development budget and guaranteeing royalties for a self-published games in exchange for PlayStation Network exclusivity.
"It's all very well for us as platform holders to say 'put all your money into PlayStation Network, it's a fantastic idea', but are we prepared to put or money where our mouth is? The answer is yes," Eden said at the time.
"We're looking for a number of great games, and in return for exclusivity we'll match your development budget with guaranteed royalties."
"The purpose of the Pub Fund is to fund publishing rather than development," clarified Rob Dyer, senior VP of publisher relations for Sony, speaking exclusively to GamesIndustry.biz. "Its purpose is to stimulate self-publishing among those who can’t or don’t have access to disc-based publishing, which enables them to be more successful."
Though he would not disclose an exact figure, Dyer confirmed that the Pub Fund does have a fixed budget cap, as well as an approval process. Additionally, Dyer revealed that games may be approved for the Pub Fund at the initial proposal and idea stage, without the developer necessarily having to submit playable code.
"The developer will need to submit a request form that details their idea for the game, which is then vetted and reviewed by an internal SCEA board," explained Dyer. "If the SCEA board decides to move forward with a developer request, they then contact the developer to discuss in more detail and identify next steps."
Last year, Sony's David Reeves said that publisher exclusivity was "a thing of the past," and that working directly with developers was a more effective way of obtaining exclusive third-party titles.
When asked if the Pub Fund was an extension of this rationale, and a way to bypass third-party exclusivity, Dyer said only that "SCEA has solid relationships with the publisher community and recognises that publishers are vital to the viability of the PS3 platform. While exclusive titles aren’t as prevalent today as in previous generations, exclusive content is still important and relevant for consumers."
While Burn Zombie Burn is the only announced title taking advantage of the Pub Fund, Dyer confirmed that other Pub Fund titles are currently in development.

Sega's given out a list of retro titles coming to Xbox Live and PlayStation Network this summer. PSN gets the short straw though, with only one being confirmed for Sony's online service.
Here's what Sega says about each:
Gunstar Heroes (XBLA/PSN) - The classic side scrolling shooter from the SEGA Mega Drive returns to captivate fans new and old with its non-stop action and cooperative play.
Altered Beast (XBLA) - "Rise from your Grave" as the original Mega Drive launch game is reborn and comes to a new generation of gamers. Fight hordes of undead warriors and monsters as you return to battle in order to save Zeus' daughter Athena.
Shinobi (arcade) (XBLA) - Battle your way through the "Ring of Five" as you save hostages with your ninja abilities.
Comix Zone (XBLA) - The game features an innovative art style that transports players directly into the panels of a comic as they fight their way to save a world from destruction as Sketch Turner. Everything from the speech bubble text, level design, and the revolutionary graphics scream COMIX!
Phantasy Star 2 (XBLA) - SEGA's classic RPG which expanded on the success of the first with its epic storyline and battle system.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (XBLA) - The game that introduced Knuckles the Echidna comes to a new generation of gamers as Sonic explores Angel Island and discovers the true power of the Master Emerald. Speed through each level at lightning speeds as either Sonic or Tails as you foil Dr. Eggman's in his new Death Egg station.
Sonic and Knuckles (XBLA) - Picking up where Sonic the Hedgehog 3 left off, players can now play as Knuckles for the first time. In addition, if players already have Sonic the Hedgehog 3 or Sonic 2 in their library, they will be able to access the lock-on bonus content for each game for the very first time since the days of the SEGA MEGA DRIVE!
New Features Include:
Re-worked for High-Definition
Online Leaderboards
Network Play (Excludes Phantasy Star II, Shinobi, Comix Zone)

Speaking with Financial Times, Hideki Komiyama, president of Sony Ericsson, raised the possibility of a mobile handset based on PlayStation gaming. The company has been struggling to find an answer to current smartphones, and they plan to release three new models within the next year which run Symbian, Android, and Windows Mobile. Komiyama likened a PlayStation-related handset to the music-based Walkman handset and the camera-based Cybershot handset. Quoting the FT: "He expresses interest in Sony Ericsson carving out a niche for itself based on Sony's strength in gaming. He says a PlayStation mobile, building on the Walkman and Cybershot phones, 'could happen.'"

News/release from ardatan
You know, Sony limits our memory in Internet Browser. So we cannot play big flash games and open big web sites.
This mod removes this limitation. And you can use all of the memory that your PSP has.
If your PSP is Fat, the HighMemMod uses all of 32 MB RAM.
If your PSP is Slim, the HighMemMod uses all of 64 MB RAM!!!
That's very interesting, isn't it?
Now the browser loads your pages in very short seconds!
You can play your online flash games fast...
The program is beta so it may be buggy. If you see any problems, please reply this topic....
What's New
-Annoying prompt was removed.
-HEN support was added(Also PSP-3000 support)
-The theme was changed(EBOOT music, background etc...)
--We won't remove music etc. because they don't matter...
-It is more stable.
-Password Protected Version is added...
--About 5.03 HEN support--
On ChickHEN, HighMemMod always uses the same memory on all PSPs(32 MB). Because the extra RAM parts of Slim and Brite has been locked by Sony. HighMemMod would use all memory if M33 files was added to ChickHEN...
--About Password Protection--
Copy the ProtectedHtmlMax_Eng folder to PSP/GAME.
To use this feature, you should change your parental level to 10 or you should change it to OFF!
And you can add password to your browser for safety(XMB>Settings>Secur ity Settings)
--About VSH Plugin--
Copy vsh folder to your flash0 and Enjoy...

News via sceners
jas0nuk (\ /) has released a new version of his pspident, quite a great tool that everyone should know and handle when you want to know the specifics about what model and mobo you have on your hands.
Changelog is as follows:
0.3 -> 0.4
Long overdue update. Congrats to all the PSP-3000 users who can finally use homebrew!
Updated all the data with the latest available, so it now detects TA-088 v1/v2/v3, TA-090 v1 (final version of Slim) and TA-090 v2 (first version of PSP-3000 or “Brite”)
Due to a lack of info, TA-088 v1 and v2 are are indistinguishable and will appear as such on the app.
Now, to complete this post, i’d like to add a quick reference that i already had on spanish on the forum
First of all, about how the pspident works, the CPU (Tachyon), Syscon (Baryon) and Pommel versions of the different mobos. For the Phat version (01g):
TA-079 v1 (Tachyon:0×00140000 ; Baryon:0×00030600 ; Pommel: 123)
TA-079 v2 (Tachyon:0×00200000 ; Baryon:0×00030600 ; Pommel: 123)
TA-079 v3 (Tachyon:0×00200000 ; Baryon:0×00040600 ; Pommel: 123)
TA-081 (Tachyon:0×00300000 ; Baryon:0×00040600 ; Pommel: 123)
TA-082 (Tachyon:0×00400000 ; Baryon:0×00114000 ; Pommel: 123)
TA-086 (Tachyon:0×00400000 ; Baryon:0×00121000 ; Pommel: 123)
Now the Slim & Lite version (02g):
TA-085 (Tachyon:0×00500000 ; Baryon:0×0022B200 ; Pommel: 123)
TA-085 v2 (Tachyon:0×00500000 ; Baryon:0×00234000 ; Pommel: 123)
TA-088 v1 (Tachyon:0×00500000 ; Baryon:0×00243000 ; Pommel: 123)
TA-088 v2 (Tachyon:0×00500000 ; Baryon:0×00243000 ; Pommel: 123)
Note: As silverspring said, 88v2 does exist, but the changes on Tachyon probably weren’t too big to upgrade the version number
TA-088 v3 (Tachyon:0×00600000 ; Baryon:0×00243000 ; Pommel: 123)
TA-090 (Tachyon:0×00600000 ; Baryon:0×00243000 ; Pommel: 123)
And now the 3k, (03g):
TA-090 v2 (Tachyon:0×00600000 ; Baryon:0×00263100 ; Pommel: 132)
Now let’s continue with other thing. What about a quick compatibility list?
TA-079 v1 -> Can be cfw’d -> Can create pandora
TA-079 v2 -> Can be cfw’d -> Can create pandora
TA-079 v3 -> Can be cfw’d -> Can create pandora
TA-081 -> Can be cfw’d -> Can create pandora
TA-082 -> Can be cfw’d -> Can create pandora
TA-086 -> Can be cfw’d -> Can create pandora
TA-085 v1 -> Can be cfw’d -> Can create pandora
TA-085 v2 -> Can be cfw’d -> Can NOT create pandora
TA-088 v1 -> Can be cfw’d -> Can NOT create pandora
TA-088 v2 -> Can be cfw’d -> Can NOT create pandora
TA-088 v3 -> Can NOT be cfw’d -> Can NOT create pandora
TA-090 v1 -> Can NOT be cfw’d -> Can NOT create pandora
TA-090 v2 -> Can NOT be cfw’d -> Can NOT create pandora
And, let’s make a last one! What about a quick boxcode list for the ofw that are inside? For the Phat models (01g):
A = 1.50
B = 1.51
C = 1.52
D = 1.52
E = 1.52
F = 2.00
G = 2.01
H = 2.50
I = 2.60
J = 2.70
K = 2.71
L = 2.81
M = 3.01
N = 3.03
O = 3.10
P = 3.11
Q = 3.30
R = 3.40
S = 3.50
T = 3.51
U = 3.52
Now for the Slim & Lite (02g);
(No letter) = 3.60
A = 3.71
B = 3.71
C = 3.72
D = 3.73
E = 3.80
F = 3.90
G = 3.95 / 4.01
H = 3.95 / 4.01
I = 4.01
J = 4.05
And for the 3k models (03g);
(No letter) = 4.20
A = 4.20/4.21
B = ??
C = 5.02
D = ??
E = ??
But well, all this lists will grow and grow, and i bet that we’ll have to update it more than one time :-P

News/release from Inertie
Hello to all. I present my first Homebrew that I publish
The goal is to place the pixel, the square (red for green player1 for Player2) on the white pixel. Spice it all through a system of experience and thus level. There is also a system of money but it is not really exploited in this version.

What's more affordable than free, anyway? Beginning Thursday (May 14) you can get some new digs in PlayStation Home if you're tired of the standard-issue harborside apartment. "Chamber Apartment" is free, but only for a week.
After that, you can expect to cough up some dough. The new pad features fantasy-inspired architecture, and a courtyard featuring a giant tree with a human face. No word if it talks.

I was working on the next Nanodesktop 0.3.8...
But, as the new nd core has been totally rewritten, I've taken my decision:
the next version of Nanodesktop, finally, shall be the 0.4 VERSION.
The change of number reflects the incredible evolution of this SDK, that
adds the support for sprites, desktop objects, super-resolution, ImageMagick,
and, furthermore, the new HyperFont engine.
So, I've released a proof of concept of the new (next) graphical system.
You can download it here:
http://visilab.unime.it/~filippo/_Po...Demo01revB.rar
See the README.TXT files for usage instructions. Use double click to
select the objects and drag for move them...
I'd be very glad if one of the webmasters can do a news in home for
this advice.
Thank you for all that wants to download and to test it.
Filippo Battaglia

It'll come as no surprise to most of you that inFamous has its own comic series. The first issue can be be read right here, right now thanks to the power of the computer internets. This first issue contains seven pages and begins to tell the story of the events that happen prior to the game, drawn in the same awesome art that make up inFamous' in-game cutscenes.

A batch of media came with the release dates for Ys Chronicles I & II and Ys Seven. Polygonal Ys Seven drifts into stores on September 17. Ys Chronicles I & II takes the journey a few months earlier arriving on July 16.
Neither game has been confirmed for North America, but Ys Chronicles I & II might be marginally easier for importers to pick up. A screenshot shows the PSP game has English status information. I wouldn’t expect a hidden localization in Ys Chronicles I & II, though.

The first download-only PSP title hits the PlayStation Store this week, along with the PS3 debut of Puzzle Quest: Galactrix and an oddly-priced set of downloadable Disgaea 3 content.
This marks my first time posting the PlayStation Store Update, so forgive me if I go astray. This week seems particularly packed with goodies, with three new PSone Classics, demos for Savage Moon and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a set of three free songs for Guitar Hero World Tour, Norse outfits for LittleBigPlanet, and what certainly seems like a lot of Disgaea DLC.
Along with two new characters in the form of Gig and Revya from Soul Nomad, Disgaea 3: Absence of Justice also scores a new storyline for Raspberyl, available as four separate chapters for $2.99 each, or in one big pack for $11.99. I'll let you guys figure out the math on that one while you browse this week's list.
Qore Episode 12 - May 2009 ($2.99)
Games & Demos
Puzzle Quest: Galactrix ($19.99)
PSone Classic - Bowling ($5.99)
PSone Classic - R-Type Delta ($5.99)
PSone Classic - Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! ($5.99)
PSP - Pursuit Force ($22.99)
Savage Moon Demo
X-Men Origins: Wolverine Demo
Patapon 2 for the PSP($19.99)
Expansions & Add-ons
BUZZ! Quiz TV: Rock Legends ($7.99)
LittleBigPlanet Norse Mini-Pack ($2.99)
