F34R has brought the irshell.org forums back from the grave! Thank you F34R!
The only problem is that all of the previous content has been lost. F34R and a couple of us have been trying to repopulate the important stuff (releases, skins, plugins, tuts, etc..).
What we need now is to get the word out, both to former members and new members alike. If someone would please post this news on the front page, that would be awesome.
We need everyone to know that irshell.org is alive and kicking again.
I hope to see you all @ http://www.irshell.org/forums/.

Sony has proclaimed the benefits of 3D gaming to its hardcore fans, saying it provides a "competitive edge".
During a presentation at the Develop Conference yesterday Sony Computer Entertainment Europe senior director Mick Hocking described in detail why playing PS3 exclusives Gran Turismo 5, MotorStorm: Apocalypse, Killzone 3 and LittleBigPlanet 2 in 3D is better.
"With something like a racing simulation, this gives us greater accuracy," Hocking said.
"You can judge or brake a distance to a corner that much better than you could before. You can position your car on a track with greater certainty. You can judge relative speed to the other cars or relative speed to the track better than you could before."
On upcoming arcade racer MotorStorm: Apocalypse, Hocking had this to say: "We can throw particles through the screen at you. We can make the building feel like it's going to collapse down on top of you. It helps to enhance the sense of speed and scale and excitement in the game."
He added: "You can also process information more quickly. With a game like WipEout, where you're racing very fast down a track, it's twitch control mechanics. You've got to be very precise and quick about changing the direction of the ship or you hit the wall.
"With this [3D] your brain can pick up more cues from the digital image because there's more information there, because we have depth. We find that players can play this a bit more accurately than they could before."
On Killzone 3: "We have particles flying past them. You can see projectiles coming towards you. You can judge just how far you need to throw a grenade because you can see how far away the enemies are.
"We can have things collapse on top of you, or you can be reaching down into a ditch to pull a comrade out. 3D helps bring greater immersion to these types of action experiences."
And, finally, Media Molecule's LittleBigPlanet 2, which, Hocking reminded us, has Z-depth.
"In 3D we found it was much more intuitive to judge where Sackboy was in the level. We found we could traverse the level rather than falling off the platforms quite so often."
Essentially, Sony reckons 3D will help PS3 owners be better gamers.
"For our hardcore, this could mean a competitive edge. Racing simulations, if you can get a better lap time, in shooters, if you can get more kills, this all appeals to our hardcore gamers. Anything that gives them a competitive edge is worth having."
Hocking's comments come as no surprise. Sony is putting plenty of eggs in the 3D basket, and hopes it'll convince millions to fork out their hard-earned cash on the tech that enables it.
"We think 3D is now here to stay," Hocking said.
"There are many different parts of media now supporting 3D with a vested interest in seeing the success of 3D. Not only the film studios and film creators; games, broadcasters, photography, camcorders and phones of the future. All of them will be looking at 3D.
"We are the only company that has the entire hardware and content chain of 3D within our core business."
With an installed base of 36 million PS3s, and with firmware updates that enable the console to play 3D games and Blu-ray discs in the wild, Sony is confident of success.
The Japanese company predicts that by 2014 more than 40 per cent of tellies will be sold as 3D ready.
Last week Ubisoft UK marketing boss Murray Pannell went one further by predicting that a 3D-enabled telly will be in every living room in just three years time.

PlayStation Plus is set to bear some exclusive fruit next week, with the arrival of a demo for Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days. The demo will be available exclusively to PlayStation Plus subscribers from July 20 until July 27, at which time it will be made available to all PSN users. The PlayStation Blog reminds PS+ users that the demo will be delivered automatically to those who have set up the automatic delivery function. Of course, if you'd rather just open up the PS Store and download the demo the old fashioned way, that's okay too.
The demo itself will contain a portion of the single-player game as well as the "Fragile Alliance" online multiplayer mode.

Sega is bundling downloadable missions with pre-orders of PSP's Valkyria Chronicles 2 in North America (at GameStop) and Europe. The DLC revolves around exercises against other classes in the Gallian Military Academy.
The two bonus missions are:
Exercise vs. Class E – "A clean-up war exercise against rival class E, which will take place in all of the areas of Leanbluff forest."
Exercise vs. Class F – Break through Class F's stonewalling defense and take over their encampment to win.
If you were a fan of the original cult darling, it appears you'll be in store for a similarly epic saga with the sequel. Prepare to protect Gallia again when Valkyria Chronicles 2 releases online and on UMD this August 31 and September 3 in North America and Europe, respectively.

On July 27, Xbox Live and PSN will play host to a demo for Madden NFL 11, featuring the playoff game between the Jets and Colts, as chosen by the fans. 2K Senior Producer Denby Grace has said the firm is "excited" about its partnership with Sony for Mafia II, which will see exclusive downloadble content released for the PS3 version.
"We're really excited to announce this sort of partnership with Sony," said Grace. "We're going to be releasing some [PS3-exclusive] DLC at some point," he added, declined to reveal any specifics on exactly what extra treats Sony fans can expect from the developer.
"There's a lot more details to come out in time, all in good time," he told the US PS Blog.
A leaked list of Trophy rewards for the PS3 game have this week sparked speculation that the exclusive DLC will come in the form of a mission pack called 'Jimmy's Vendetta', containing several new missions, and an arcade-style points system. Reports also claim the DLC will be completely free and released on the same day as the game itself on August 27 (August 24 in US).

An anonymous reader writes with news that Sony is planning a firmware update for the PS3 to enable 3-D playback from Blu-ray movies and YouTube. The update is scheduled for September, and support for 3-D photos will come later. Sony's Kaz Hirai spoke recently about how the PS3 was designed with these kinds of upgrades in mind. "Given how fast technology turns over now, we knew going in that we had to pack a lot of horsepower into the PS3. Four years ago — when you look at the console's power and its retail price — a lot of people were critical with the fact that there was so much packed under the hood. Now we're especially pleased to be introducing things like Move and 3-D gaming because we're able to show tangibly why we released the PS3 with the power it has, and why it makes so much sense to future proof a console." Sony also updated its PS3 Terms of Service to warn against too much 3-D viewing.

The ongoing lawsuit against Activision Blizzard by former members of Call of Duty creator Infinity Ward has reportedly been revised, with the claimants asking for 50 per cent less cash.
While originally the group of former and current Infinity Ward staffers had sought a total of $625 million in damages and unpaid bonuses, the cap is now apparently set at $216 million - just under half the previous maximum for damages alone.
Website Kotaku claims to have seen a copy of the amended lawsuit, which also provides further detail on the dispute that led to the firings of studio founders Jason West and Vincent Zampella.
The suit apparently alleges that Activision denied 60 per cent of promised bonus money – some $54 million - from Modern Warfare 2 sales from the developer, stipulating it would be handed over only if Modern Warfare 3 was completed and released by November 2011.
Also claimed to be in the update are accusations that Activision conducted secret interrogations, manned exits with bouncers, and that CFO Thomas Tippl told employees "get over it" following complaints about the withheld bonus.
A hearing on August 5 hopes to consolidate the various suits – including a separate claim by West and Zampella – into one trial. The trial itself is scheduled for next May.

After the recent release of CF 5:50 Prometheus Prometheus and 5.03 , the PSP hacking scene seemed to have moved permanently to the custom firmware branded GEN, excluding the historians of M33 Dark_Alex . Experience shows , however , that often carry a coder shift , most often driven by the desires of end users of the CF , that we users.
So here he sees the light that can be defined as the CF 5.00m33 - Prometheus. Again this is not a CF in itself, as a patch applied to last CF 5.00 M33 -6 , making it the most complete available piazza .
The combination of 5.00 M33 -6 with its high compatibility for homebrew and functionality of Prometheus to start out the latest headlines without having to apply any patches, it is stated as the definitive turning point in the field of Custom Firmware

505 Games has unveiled an underwater third-person shooter called Deep Black for PS3 and Xbox 360.
The game's due in Q1 2011 and hopes to blend science fiction, espionage and bio terror - presumably not a fear of yoghurt.
Plenty will be made of the physicality of water, not to mention the fanciful equipment used within it - an underwater jet pack with integrated harpoon sounds fun.
Russian developer Biart Studio is at the wheel and has experience with nautical-themed games, having produced Spearfishing and Reef Aquarium Minis before now.

dridri85 has released Prx Reverser v0.1
Quote:
Pour Prx is, as its name suggests , software that allows to reverse any previously decrypted PRX ( see PRXDecrypter ).
It tells you the module name , version, its execution mode ( user , kernel , XMB ), the various texts it contains, and reverse it in pseudo – C contains all functions that PRX .
It is also possible to reverse the Eboot , it will involve using ‘ unpack – pbp.exe ‘ to extract the file and open it with DATA.PSP Pour Prx .
Obviously the code returned is pseudo -C and is therefore not compile , you have to change the functions to make them legible and logical .

Only yesterday we published the news that the coder Wassgha is working to create a plugin that fill the gap by Sony's 3-D effect on our favorite console . An ambitious project but that is certainly encouraging. And here is that even twenty-four hours away ad , Geecko , forum member PSPGEN , release the first homebrew that implements the '3D effect anaglyph. Of course , when it is only a set of colored cubes on which you can enable or disable the 3D effect if you choose, so anything to do with the draft Wassgha , but clearly demonstrates that the 3D on PSP something workable incentives for developers.
At this point we have to procure a pair of anaglyph glasses and experience in person the third dimension .

Publisher Ubisoft has made the bold claim that the majority of homes will own 3D-capable TVs within three years.
Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz sister site Eurogamer.net, UK head of marketing Murray Pannel said "The truth is I think it is a technology that's coming. We can't ignore it. It'll start slowly this year. But like HDTV I wouldn't rule out the fact that this will be installed in everyone's living room in three year's time.
"For the naysayers, if you like, I would say, 'Just watch this space'... You have global corporations like Sony pushing 3D as hard as they possibly can, Sky showcasing 3D content on TV. I believe it will become a much more important part of consumer electronics than a lot of people believe."
Pannel also emphasised that Ubisoft had been ahead the curve on 3D, with last year's poorly-received Avatar game. "The technology was in its infancy and you couldn't buy 3D TVs at all," he said.
He confirmed more 3D games were on the way from the publisher, however.
Pannel's prediction reaches further even than a Sony-endorsed survey claiming that 40 per cent of TVs would be 3D by 2014, and recent polls suggesting around 30 per cent of consumers were considering in buying one.

It's been confirmed that Racquet Sports is coming to PS3, complete with support for the new Move motion controller.
The game was on show at Ubisoft's London showcase earlier this week. The visuals are sharper than those in the previously released Wii version, but the mini-game line-up is the same - tennis, table tennis, beach tennis, squash and badminton.
Ubi reckons the Move controller allows for much more precise control, while its buttons can be used to perform tactical moves. Difficulty levels can be adjusted so skilled and rubbish players can play together.
Racquet Sports is due out at the end of September.
