Linkin Park and Fort Minor frontman Mike Shinoda will score the soundtrack for the upcoming Medal of Honor: Warfighter.
Meanwhile a new Linkin Park song Castle of Glass - off the band's No.1 album Living Things – will feature in-game footage of Warfighter.
It's not the first time Linkin Park has teamed up with Medal of Honor, songs from the band's last album was used in the promotional material for the game's 2010 reboot.
Shinoda is the rapper from Linkin Park and is credited for writing most of the band's songs, he also has a rap side-project Fort Minor.
He also wrote the score for the Linkin Park iPhone game - 8-bit Revolution – and last year wrote the movie score for The Raid.
“Linkin Park’s involvement with the 2010 reboot of Medal of Honor was a hugely positive experience for all of us,” said Shinoda. “The opportunity to take this creative collaboration several steps further was something that we knew we had to be a part of.”
Medal of Honor executive producer Greg Goodrich added: “Linkin Park has always shown a great deal of respect and gratitude for our servicemen and women, many of whom are fans of their music.
“Partnering with them for the Medal of Honor Warfighter soundtrack and the Castle of Glass music video is a natural fit for us. We have shared values and respect for these heroes from many different nations – and their families – who serve on our behalf around the world.”
Medal of Honor: Warfighter is listed as one of the 20 games to save Christmas in this week's MCV. You can buy the magazine to discover the full list, here.

Game Arts' next, as-yet-undated PlayStation Vita game is a rarity for consoles, in that it uses a free-to-play model. It's also really, really cute.
Picotto Knight is a four-player online side-scrolling action game, in which players control tiny "Cocoroids" who use a variety of hand weapons to fight the minions of the Demon King that threatens the planet Pico.
Players can level up their characters as they fight, and equip them with a variety of accessories, some of which may make them look like a kitty. Picotto Knight has so far only been announced for Japan.

A new "Bonus Edition" of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed brings in the most sensible Sega franchise ever for a racing game: OutRun. A level based on Sega's classic racer will be included with the edition, sold to pre-order customers at launch (in other words, it's a bonus for the first printing, more than it is a "special" edition.)
Alongside the OutRun content, the Bonus Edition includes a playable Metal Sonic character and vehicle, and an in-game "Emoticon Sticker Pack." As part of the announcement of this edition, Sega also announced release dates for the PS3, Xbox, and Vita versions: November 30 in North America. The 3DS and PC versions weren't given specific dates, but they're presumably still due in November.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale will begin its public beta this fall, with early access to PlayStation Plus members. Over the coming weeks Sony plans to gradually expand its early development beta, sending out more codes.
A group of players have already participated in the early beta, leading to this leak of characters and stages that Superbot Entertainment president Chan Park says was "unexpected and unintended."
"We've enjoyed reading all of the fan reaction and are thrilled that so many of you are excited to learn more our character roster and level mash-ups, however we are still in development and the leaked content does not fully represent the final product nor the incredible efforts that were made to make these elements truly spectacular," Park says.
The next official character announcement for PlayStation All-Stars will be at Gamescom, which begins August 15 in Cologne, Germany.

SCE UK chief Fergal Gara admits he'd love to see Vita selling better, but believes its best months are still to come.
The MD told MCV that with Call of Duty, FIFA, Assassin's Creed and LittleBigPlanet on the way this Christmas, there's every reason to believe the machine's performance will improve as we head towards the crucial peak selling period.
"We would love it to be selling more and we intend to make it sell more and help it sell a lot more," he explained.
"The feedback from many consumers who’ve got their hands on it is positive – so that’s a very good start.
"The key thing for the rest of the year is the key software drive for the console so as we look towards September, LittleBigPlanet, that really is taking the concept on another level because of the Vita functionality. And of course the other key big third party IPs – Call of Duty, FIFA, Assassin’s Creed – will do tremendous things for the Vita. So it’s our job now to take that strength of software and give people more reasons to buy.
"I think we haven’t quite hit the spot with the killer software just yet and I have every reason to think that will happen in the next few months.?
Sony says it will be working alongside the likes of Activision and Ubisoft in order to ensure Creed and Call of Duty are reasons to pick up the high-end handheld.
"Our first and foremost job is to drive install base and those IPs are owned by those guys so we’ll put our arms round them and work collaboratively with both teams to make the best of it," he said.
"You saw an example of how Assassin's Creed may be presented there with the white Vita pack and bundle. That’s an example of how you can take the game and go the extra mile by working together."

Sackboy's latest outing will be released for PlayStation Vita next month.
Sony will release LittleBigPlanet Vita in Europe on September 19th, arriving in the US a few days later on September 25th, according to VG247.
The game will make full use of Vita's control systems, from the front and rear touch panels to the motion sensor, as players navigate a fresh back of wacky worlds from the LBP development team.
And, as always, players will be able to design their own content – again, using the handheld's myriad of control options.
Sony has also released a new video offering a behind-the-scenes look at how the team design the in-game worlds,

Console giant blames declining PS3 and PSP sales only partially offset by Vita
Sony's games division has posted a $45m (£28.9m) operating loss for the quarter ending June 30th.
Sales decreased 14.5 per cent over the same quarter last year to $1.49bn (£958million).
The decrease was largely due to slowing sales of PS3 and PSP, although sales were 'partially offset' by PlayStation Vita.
PS3 and PS2 combined hardware sales were 2.8m for the quarter, a drop over the 3.2m sold during the same period the year before.
Software sales for both consoles were 20.1m, which is down over the 27.6m posted in Q1 2011..

AnvilNext trailer presents stunning battles featuring 2,000 non-player characters on screen at once
Ubisoft has given a tantalising new look at the engine powering the upcoming release of the highly-anticipated Assassin’s Creed 3.
Named AnvilNext, the proprietary technology is a “radically redesigned” development platform made especially for the latest entry in the publisher’s blockbuster series.
The trailer shows off various landscapes, animal and character models throughout the game and states that players could encounter up to 2,000 non-player characters in a single sequence during the game's stunning battles.
Also featured in the video are wind and water simulations presented during explosive naval battles, as well as dynamic weather systems from all four seasons.
Main character Connor features 1,000 animations, which Ubisoft claims results in the most detailed third-person action character ever created.

Last year's Twisted Metal reboot "sold fine," says creative director David Jaffe. "Not a dud, not a hit," he adds. "It was not a mega blockbuster or even a big hit (was it even a 'hit'?...not sure what is in between 'dud' and 'hit' but I think TM PS3 falls into that category)." He stops short of offering any specific sales numbers, but notes, "I hope Sony will be satisfied that it made a decent investment in the game and in us."
It's unclear how large of a financial investment Sony made in the Twisted Metalreboot, but it apparently wasn't enough to keep Jaffe's Eat Sleep Play studiofrom facing cuts following the launch last year. Jaffe himself also left the company; he is now pursuing free-to-play games.
Jaffe also outlines eerily specific plans for another Twisted Metal franchise entry, saying it'd be digital-only and aggressively truncated. "But again, this is just me pie in the sky thinking out loud," he notes. "None of this is planned."Mmmmhmmmm, Mr. Jaffe. We've heard that song before.

It may not be a zombie-filled hospital, but Payday: The Heist's "Wolfpack" DLCdoes include new weapons, missions, and what appears to be some kind of fog-spewing basement or stairwell.
You also get two new heists, a new crew member called "The Technician," a raised level cap and a few extra weapons when the DLC launches in North America, on August 7 for $9.99. If you're more into robbing French banks than American ones, the content pack has already been released in Europe for £6.49/€7.99.

Japanese publisher Q Entertainment is bringing a free-to-play RPG to PlayStation Vita this month.
Guardian Hearts Online on Vita will use an microtransaction system to offer players extra items, but the standard content will be free to download and play, according to Famitsu (viaAndriasang).
While the game is due for release in Japan this month, it's not clear when or if the game will be made available in the UK and Europe.
It's also unclear whether this will be a new title or a port of Q Entertainment's mobile game of the same name, in which you hire other players as NPCs for your party.
Guardian Hearts Online will actually be Vita's second free-to-play RPG following Sega's Samurai & Dragons.

Global rap superstar Jay Z is the executive producer of NBA 2K 13.
What the devil does the 99 Problems singer have to do with a basketball video game? I'll let the press statement explain:
"Jay Z's interests and influences extend well beyond his illustrious?music career as a 14-time Grammy award winner, as evidenced by his?part-ownership of the 40/40 sports clubs and of the NBA's Brooklyn Nets,?having recently helped craft that team's iconic black-and-white logo and?visual identity."
So there you have it. Jay Z (or Shawn Carter as his actual name is) will hand-pick the game's 24-song soundtrack, get involved with the game's artistic style and even approve the 'interactive in-game menus.'
Obviously, outside of real hands-on development, Jay Z is one of the biggest names in music, so it's a pretty impressive A-list partnership.
2K Sports VP of marketing Jason Argent said: "We aren't content with just being the best, and we will continue to grow the NBA 2K franchise into one of today's premier entertainment experiences. Jay Z's role in NBA2K13 represents a unique fusion of basketball, music, art, and entertainment, and illustrates the evolution of NBA 2K into something much bigger than simply the best basketball video game series ever made."
Jay Z himself added: "This has been a unique opportunity to collaborate with 2K Sports and be a part of one of the best sports video games in history.
"NBA 2K13 will be the next evolution in sports and basketball culture, and I'm ready to usher in the new era of the franchise."
This isn't the first time Jay Z has worked on a game, he is also behind Facebook game Empire.

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima secured the Castlevanianame for 2010 action adventure Lords Of Shadow, developer MercurySteam has revealed.
In an interview, producer Dave Cox tells us that Konami gave theCastlevania licence to MercurySteam, only to take it away after the publisher's Japanese higher-ups deemed the proposed new direction for the beloved series to be "too radical".
"[MercurySteam] did a prototype demo, the Simon Belmont thing," he says. "We went to America to pitch it. We were originally told we could do Castlevania, and then when we pitched it, we were told we had to do something else instead.
"So it launched at Gamescom as just Lords Of Shadow. We developed it under the codename of Light And Shadow." Until, that is, Kojima stepped in.
"I went to Japan later that year with a video of the game, and the senior managers and people of Konami were there, and Kojima-san was at that meeting," Cox recalls. "I showed the game, and he just basically stood up at that point and said, 'This is awesome, why isn't this Castlevania?'
"Everyone just looked sort of sheepish and then after that he said, 'I want to help you guys'. And then it became Castlevania again."
The resulting game was developed in collaboration with Kojima Productions, and successfully updated the franchise for modern tastes. Our Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow review praised its "moments of genuine craftsmanship… [this] is ultimately a greater success than anyone could have reasonably expected".
While sales figures haven't been disclosed, Konami was evidently pleased with the game's performance. A sequel, Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow 2, was announced on the eve of E3 in June. A 3DS spin-off, subtitled Mirror Of Fate, is also on the way.
The above are extracts from a profile of Spanish studio MercurySteam, the full version of which features in our new issue.E244 is out today in print and on Apple Newsstand.

We're continuing to evolve our policies to meet industry demand', says Adam Boyes
Sony is working on changing its PS3 online approval policies as it looks to create a more open platform, SCEA exec Adam Boyes has claimed.
Speaking to Venturebeat, the VP of public relations said the console giant had already taken lengths to improve the direct connection between developer and consumer.
Whilst the PSN still charges developers fees for game updates and patches, Boyes felt Sony had become more lenient in recent years, such as opening itself up to the freemium model.
“Originally, we had a different policy on free-to-play. Now we have free-to-play content and microtransactions,” said Boyes.
“We used to have certain requirements for publishing. Now we have none for developers to publish other content.
"You have to go through the process of submitting for concept approval, but all of these things are things that have naturally evolved over the console life-cycle. We’re evolving more than ever now because the industry is evolving."

SCE Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida has told Official PlayStation Magazine US that gamers shouldn't rule out the return of the SOCOMfranchise one day.
The executive said the move to close SOCOM developer Zipper Interactive was "a very difficult decision and thing to deal with".Asked whether SOCOM is finished as a series, he responded: "IS SOCOM done? It's not done. We never definitely retire any franchise. It's sometimes great to have a fresh look at the classics that we have. We are launching a new Sly Cooper game this year after so many years.
"Never say never. I feel sorry for people who are longtime SOCOM fans, and there are many people who still play SOCOM 1 and SOCOM 2 especially; those seem to be there favorites."

God of War Saga Collection is reportedly in the works for August, according to aSiliconera source. The site's insider doesn't give any details beyond the name, but since there's already a God of War Collection with the first two games, we could speculate that Sony will add God of War 3, and perhaps the God of War Origins Collection (which contains HD versions of Ready At Dawn's PSP games).
God of War: Ascension, the next installment in the series with a multiplayer focus, will be released on March 12, 2013.

Due to "an unforeseen complication," Grand Theft Auto 3 won't make its debut as a PS2 Classic download today. The PS2 Classic will instead arrive on some future date, and the PlayStation Blog says it'll update us when as soon as possible.
As for things that do exist today, The Expendables 2 is a thing you can pay money to download, and is joined by PS2 Classic War of the Monsters and the aforementioned Transformers: War for Cybertron demo – you don't have to pay money for that last thing. Pre-orders for next week's release, Sound Shapes, are also open – it's 20% off for PS Plus members and all pre-orderers will receive a free PS3 theme. We haven't seen the theme, but it probably has some shapes in it, probably not much in the way of sound.
