Namco Bandai president Takeo Takasu has publicly described Sony's current target of a Spring launch for the PlayStation 3 as "impossible", revealing that the top Japanese publisher is still waiting for information on the launch date.
"Without any announcements so far, the spring release is impossible," Takasu told Bloomberg in Tokyo this week. "We are developing titles for PlayStation 3, but the release of the games depends on the timing of the hardware."
Takasu's comments are likely to be seen as a final nail in the coffin for Sony's ambitions of a spring launch, as they come from the man at the head of one of the largest game publishers in Japan.
Namco Bandai has traditionally been a strong supporter of new hardware, as seen at the recent launch of the Xbox 360, for which the firm launched an update to the hugely successful Ridge Racer franchise, Ridge Racer 6.
The company is also a close collaborator with Sony; titles such as Tekken and Ridge Racer helped to establish the PlayStation brand, the most recent Soul Calibur title was a PlayStation 2 exclusive, and the firm also publishes a range of RPG and anime-licensed titles which are particularly successful in the Far East.
In other words, if Namco Bandai doesn't know when PlayStation 3 is going to be released right now, then it's safe to say that nobody does - and it also makes Sony's oft-repeated assertion that the PS3 will launch in spring look even less likely.
Not that that has stopped the hardware firm from repeating its statement. "Nothing has changed with our plans," SCEI spokesperson Nanako Kato told Bloomberg, referring to the spring launch date which was originally floated at E3 last May.
While the Japanese release date remains a complete unknown - with some publishers still aiming for early summer, while others don't expect to see the system until autumn - publishers in the west are mostly working towards a Q3/Q4 launch in North America, followed by a Q1 2007 launch in Europe - despite reassurances from Sony that the system will hit Europe before the end of the year.
As for Takasu, he's not pinning Namco Bandai's colours to any mast regarding the release date of the system, telling Bloomberg that he simply " would like Sony to release the PS3 this year for the Christmas season."

With all the change over the last couple of days i had missed 2 great releases posted here in our Submit News forum, first off was PSPX48: a HP48 Calculator emulator v1.0 a new emulator by zx-81 , make sure you check it out below on the news page here --> http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/sho...threadid=20055
and now onto this release , heres the info posted by the coder Hardhat:
"Well, I think that there is some interest in RPGs on the PSP. But while we wait for a from-scratch RPG, I thought I'd surf around and find a finished one to port over. Well, here is my first release of the OpenGladiator RPG which was formerly a commercial game, and in the last four years has become a credible GPLed game for SDL.
The PSP version is compatible with the PC game saves, and you can do almost anything in the PSP port except type in custom names for characters/game saves. Try it out and tell me what you think.
I'm a 2.6 PSP user, so info on compatibility with 1.5 is always of interest."
Check out the Screenshot and Downloads at the release thread here --> http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=20013

Source PSPFanboy
It's another good week for the PSP in terms of game release volume. Of course, quantity doesn't mean quality. That statement will likely be tested with this week's new games.
UMD RELEASES
Boyz 'n the Hood
Goonies
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Jarhead
Metropolis
PSP GAME RELEASES
Dragonball Z
Pursuit Force
Samurai Warriors: State of War
Spongebob Squarepants: The Yellow Avenger
Flipping through the Sunday ads this week, we noticed that the new (and awesome!) Harry Potter flick comes in three versions: standard edition DVD, a special edition DVD and a UMD. The going prices for each of those, respectively, are $14.95, $19.95 and $22.95. Who thought that was a good idea?

Article from Gamespot:
SCEA is adding to the PSP's heretofore slim lineup of original intellectual properties with today's announcement that Pursuit Force is now available across the country.
A combination of action, shooting, and racing, Pursuit Force wears its Hollywood action-film clichés proudly. Capital City has been beset by five criminal gangs, and the police department so far has found its attempts to do things by the book to be ineffective. But the city is fed up with the crime, so it's time to turn to a maverick rookie cop who doesn't play by the rules but gets results. Players take control of the loose-cannon copper and hit the streets to take the gangs down, engaging in high-speed car chases and commandeering vehicles on the open road at 150mph. He's liable to kill himself with his renegade tactics--or die trying.
Pursuit Force lets players get behind the wheels of cars, motorcycles, trucks, and buses--more than 50 different rides in all. Beyond mayhem on the roadways, the game also includes speedboat, helicopter, and on-foot sections of gameplay across 30 different cases that need solving.
This is the first game from British developer Bigbig Studios, a development house founded in 2001 by former Codemasters employees. Pursuit Force is rated T for Teen and retails for $39.99.
This game has already been released in the UK/Japan.

March 8th, 2006, 01:58 Posted By: wraggster
Take-Two executives dodge PS3 exclusivity and launch questions, tell analysts not to expect any next-generation sequels from Rockstar Games until November 2006--at the earliest.
When it released its quarterly earnings report today, Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive, narrowed the time frame for the debut of the Grand Theft Auto series on next-generation consoles. As part of its outlook for its ongoing 2006 fiscal year, which ends on Halloween, the company said it is readying "a sequel of a Rockstar brand for a current-generation console system." (Emphasis added.) Though Take-Two did say it will release a new GTA game for the PlayStation Portable during that time, the statement eliminated any chance that a next-gen installment in the franchise will make its traditional late-October window.
Indeed, Take-Two's earnings announcement went on to explicitly say that, other than the just-announced Table Tennis, no Rockstar game will arrive on next-generation consoles before the beginning of its next fiscal year. "For [fiscal] 2007, the company anticipates a strong next-generation lineup from Rockstar Games, including sequels to several of Rockstar's most successful franchises," Take-Two's statement said. That means the earliest a next-gen GTA could arrive would be November 2006, right around the same time Sony is expected to launch its PlayStation 3 in the US.
But while all GTA games since 2001's Grand Theft Auto III have debuted on a Sony console--2004's Grand Theft Auto Advance excepted--Take-Two executives refused to say if the first next-gen GTA will be a PS3-exclusive. When asked by an analyst in a postannouncement conference call if Take-Two has decided to partner with either Sony or Microsoft for the "next console version of GTA," CEO Paul Eibeler demurred. "Our guys are very, very excited about the opportunity that next-gen hardware presents," he said.
When asked by the same analyst if Take-Two could possibly release two different GTA games--one for the Xbox 360 and another for the PS3, Eibeler gave a similarly cautious response. "Anything is possible," he said "but, you know, it will be what you would expect in a great Grand Theft Auto product." He then directed the analyst "to refer back to our press release, where we said that we have a strong lineup of next-generation products from Rockstar in [fiscal] 2007, including some of their best franchises."
After UBS analyst Mike Wallace asked about how a November PS3 launch would affect Take-Two's 2006 fiscal year, Eibeler clammed up entirely. "I'm going to go underneath your question," he said. "In terms of when is PlayStation 3 really going to launch...our crystal ball really doesn't address that, and we certainly look at Sony in terms of further information there."

PSMonkey has posted some great news about his Nintendo 64 Emulator for PSP (which is also coming to Dreamcast thanks to GPF), heres what he has posted:
<blockquote>Yep, I've got a secret and I have lied a bit to downplay it. The reason was I did not want to get people overly excited to early but I am slowly feeling confident at the current time. While the secret is not mario64 running it is something that is pushing me close to that. So what is it?
Well since about thursday last week (after the absolute crap demo started working) i've been working my ass off like crazy on rsp emulation. Just yesterday I finaly had my first rdp opcode executed and today have been working my ass off to implement dummy opcodes so I can progress it enough to render out untextured quads.
Are games running? Well no they aren't. Currently I am experimenting with two roms. The first is Mortal Kombat trillogy & the second is the PD rom VNes (nes emu by JL-Picard). Both are calling on the rdp to render and have been a great source to help advance emulation. So what about mario? Well actualy mario is also using the rsp yet is waiting on me to implement vector opcodes. Once I can get mortal kombat playable then I will start up on vector ops in hopes of getting mario up and running soon.
So the big question is, will the 9th release run games? The answer is maybe. If it does it will only be mortal kombat trillogy. Tho once I do get mario64 running a new build will be released.
So that is my big suprise secret. I hope you all enjoy it & pray to the monkey gods I can get mkt running by the 9th.
PS, once I get a fully rendered out screen, I will post pictures.
PS, the RSP/RDP is being done LLE style atm with a pure interpreter (minus the drawing which is piped to the psp gpu, not gonna software render triangles. pfff). This is important as it will let me experiment on the instructions to find a faster method on different parts of the hardware.</blockquote>
Check out the screenshots in this Forum Topic
Things are looking very interesting for both PSP and Dreamcast users (although the Dreamcast has less memory), keep your eyes peeled to both PSMonkey`s and GPF`s) websites for more news on this emulator.

Yesterday i reported that there was a screenshot and small write up about PSMonkeys Nintendo 64 Emulator for the PSP in the PSM Playstation Mag in the USA, well from what ive been told it was part of a big 2 page article on the PSP Homebrew Scene and mentions this very site and posts the url too
The article mentions about the fact that homebrew is now available on all PSP firmware and also mentions PSP Ryhthm and SnesTYL.
The magazine you want if you live in the USA is PSM 109.
Its great to see a mainstream magazine post about our PSP Homebrew scene and its great that they chose this site
Thoughts ?

Liquid Jin has released his new project for the PSP, heres the info:
This is my first LUA project. It was inspired by a forum post dedicated to creating a suitable virtual keyboard for the PSP. Liquid8e, showcased an attempt at using the analog stick to speed things up which created a pretty good discussion on alternative ways to use the analog. This really got the wheels turning in my head. That night on my way home for work I designed LITEspeed on paper. Only later did I discover the marvelous work that is TTLDE - ema we are lucky to have such a talented and disciplined programmer in our midst. Over the weekend, I studied the TTLDE script files and learned how to use LUA to develop OO solutions. Then I ported my original work over to an OSK plugin and voila - version 1.0 is here. Enjoy.
Known Bugs:
#1 - CRASH - Switching from LITEspeed to another OSK and then back to LITEspeed causes TTLDE to crash because it has problems getting access to the logo image.
