PSMonkey has again been showing off the progress of his Nintendo 64 emulator for the PSP, heres what he posted:
"I put some extra code in for correcting the display resolution. It's not the worlds best pixel scale but it gets the job done (so now 640x480 disp demos display correctly). Sadly a few demo's seem odd. Like DKong which runs in a small section of the full window (which makes things imposible to read or see) and "2 blokes & an armchair" which seems to want 640x240 res not 640x480 (not sure how to pull out the vert res yet)."

It's been revealed that Codemasters is returning Micro Machines to the world of videogames in an advert appearing in the manual for MMORPG RF Online.
According to the ad, the game's titled Micro Machines V4. It's expected on PS2, PC and PSP this summer, and... ah, hang on a tick, that's all the information we have currently. A Codemasters spokesperson was playing cards pretty damn close to chest when contacted earlier, the only additionall morsel splurged being the promise that more will be revealed later in the week.
Stay race-tuned, Micro Machines fans.

Sony has released a tight group of tactically aware screenshots of SOCOM: US Navy SEALs: Fireteam Bravo, the PSP version of its squad based shooter.
The PSP version of SOCOM will have gamers assuming the role of a SEAL commander accompanied by an AI team mate, picking their way through 14 missions designed to test their tactical thinking and sharp shooting, and will play much like the PS2 version.
Developer Zipper Interactive has included several features to make use of PSP's specific features, which include being able to link up Fireteam Bravo with SOCOM 3: US Navy SEALs on PS2 through a USB connection. By completing 'crosstalk tasks', data can be transferred between the two games affecting the gameplay in both.
An Instant Action option has been included which will enable gamers to replay a mission instantly, but the objectives and enemy placement will have been altered to offer a fresh challenge.
Fireteam Bravo can also be played as a multiplayer came using the handheld's WiFi capabilities.
SOCOM: US Navy SEALs: Fireteam Bravo will be released for PSP on 28 April

Expectations, eh? While Black is technically flawless, painstakingly designed and probably the best single-player shooter on PS2, we can't help but feel a little disappointed. Why? Because it doesn't keep its promise to "do for first-person shooters what Burnout did for cars".
Forget the plot - its some nonsense about a rogue arms dealer in Eastern Europe. Black is about guns. A near-pornographic, Hollywood-amplified celebration of big guns. From the Pistol to the AK47 to the Magnum, every weapon glints with steely menace - feeling sufficiently weighty due to a sublime combination of sound effects, pad rumbling and 'heavy' reload animations.
Fire an Uzi at a hotel sign, and it splits letter-by-letter down the middle, Fire a shotgun at a steel door, and it clangs off its hinges - there are no 'interact' buttons in Black.
While most scenery is destructible, its effect is often cosmetic. Most times, you just need to find the gas boiler/petrol can/explosives 'conveniently' left by suspiciously large groups of enemies and fire away - like most 'normal' shooters.
There are killer moments, like firing an RPG rocket into a skyscraper in the opening level and watching six floors detonate in a shower of bodies and glass; or sniping in the graveyard, and blowing up headstones to reveal your enemies' position.
The opening level is mildly disappointing. For all the feeling of menace (bullets whizz from all directions) and almost farcical levels of destruction, there's no real feeling of danger, since health packs are plentiful - it's typical EA.
Don't be fooled. We really, really like, Black, but can't love it. It's not that destroying a 40 foot overhanging bunker in a shower of shards, screams and bullets isn't exciting, but that deep down, it doesn't mean anything. It'd be missing the point to complain about the lack of online or multiplayer features, but it does prevent Black from being the most complete FPS on PS2.
As it stands, it's an exemplary tech demo, with moments of blinding exhilaration. More tactile, if less atmospheric, than Killzone, more exciting, if less precise, than TimeSplitters 2, but less well rounded than a truly great FPS like Halo, or Half Life 2. You'd swear EA were holding back for a sequel...
Black is out for PS2 and Xbox now
Overall: 89%

Source Gamespot:
Sony Computer Entertainment announced it will increase the number of its PlayStation Spot kiosks in Japan. Starting today, the company will begin setting up the terminals in 300 locations nationwide. Sites for the kiosks will include game retailers, Internet cafes, and major train stations.
Sony's PlayStation Spots offer various game demos that can be temporarily downloaded to the PlayStation Portable via its wireless game-sharing functionality. The company has been regularly promoting the terminals with TV advertisements and even a promotional tour, but its actual availability has been limited up until now. PSP owners had to either go to Sony's official showroom located in Tokyo's Ginza district or one of the 12 game retailers that had the machine, almost all of which are also in Tokyo.
Sony will begin the expansion of its PlayStation Spots starting with 150 Internet cafes, which are either members of the Japan Complex Cafe Association (JCCA) or listed in the Gourmet Pia restaurant directory. On March 14, Sony will set up the kiosks at five major train stations: JR Shinjuku station (Tokyo), JR Tokyo station (Tokyo), JR Ikebukuro station (Tokyo), Sapporo Subway Oodori Station (Sapporo), and Nishitetsu Fukuoka Tenjin Station (Fukuoka). Finally, in April, the company will start setting up kiosks at approximately 150 retailers.
Three games will initially be offered by PlayStation Spots at Internet cafes and train stations: Baito Hell 2000, Loco Roco, and the Hudson comedy game Cream Stew mo Minagara Iroiro Gochagocha Ittemasukedomo...Warai no Tamago L size. A different selection will be offered through PlayStation Spots at retailers.

Edepot messaged me this news of a new version of his Space shooter type game:
"Biggest changes: 24bits/pixel mode and multi-directional scrolling, and ability to visit all nine planets ofsolar system (plus other galaxies). Try to reach earth (homeworld). Its really fun to find the solar system from the initial cubes. You can press right trigger to see where you are after using the hypercubes to zip to another area.
It is a big program when unzipped, so get at least a 128MB memory stick."

NJ has released a new update of his NEOGEO CDZ Emulator for PSP. (Neogeo CD Emulator)
Heres the translation thanks to b8a
"...I'm praying that there aren't any more easy-to-fix bugs left (tears)
*In the event that the program is not running correctly, please check the following items:
1."ERROR: lost syncronization" is displayed.
Try playing with CDDA turned off.
If it works correctly like this, then there's a possibility that the MP3 files are damaged.
Even when the original data is fine, sometimes that data doesn't get perfectly copied to the memory stick, so you should delete the MP3 files and remake them from the original CD-ROM.
2.Even with CDDA on and with the MP3 files, the MP3s don't play.
The program doesn't look outside of the neocd.mp3 folder inside the game's folder.
Please check your folder settings.
3. Some of the graphics are displayed as a black square.
I don't really know what's causing this, but it does look like this has happened when the MP3 file is damaged. I've recieved several reports of this happening, and the above was the cause in each case, and I've never had it happen with my own setup. Once again, I make no guarantees about the performance using data taken from anywhere other than the original CD-ROM.
Please understand this.
4. File loading is slow.
Since the emulation of the load screen itself involves some heavy processing, when you are emulating the load screen the file load speed drops drastically. Please turn "Emulate load screen" off.
This functions just fine even without logo.bmp and loading .bmp, so if you don't need these, feel free to just delete them. As in NeoCDPSP, I haven't included any processes to speed up the loading, so if you perform the above step and feel that the speed is still too slow, you might as well just give up trying.
*Concerning the processes related to sleeping, there's still some unstable bits. As there are issues that can't be solved by the program, I think it will take some time to fix this.
State of development:
-To a certain extent, I've accomplished everything I wanted to do, so for the time being, I'm planning on performing strictly bugfixes.
I think I may even fix the windows version."

Blue2k has posted some news about his Shell for the PSP:
The current Live Fire! version now features unlimited sized mp3's, and it will play mp3's from the default mp3 directory. As a bonus I've added a function that will make the mp3 player jump to the next song when the current song has finished playing.
Feel free to test it, it still needs some tweaking, as there might be some very tiny 'jumps' in the music. But those will be solved within the next few days. You can download it here: http://artillery-shell.com using the Live Fire! option in the menu on the left.
Download at the link above.

Good news, fellas -- I was right when I predicted Sony would release a 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo for under $300 USD. Sony has posted an official press release that specifically mentions:
4GB capacity
Compatibility with the PSP (just in case you had some doubt)
Release in July
$250 retail price
Anyone else think the price is a tad steep?

McZonk has ported Commander Keen to the PSP, heres the details from his blog:
<blockquote>And here it is: the news with a title. For all tried to guess the text in the news below. Try Standard Galactic Alphabet.
The font was taken from Commander Keen. An ID Game from 1990. Read more on Wikipedia or commander-keen.com
You can download it with the first shareware episode. Episode 2 & 3 are also supported but you need the original disks for it.
I began in the beginning of the last semester with porting keen to the psp. I don't know about CloneKeen at this moment. Catalin another Keen addicted guy already made an opensource windows/linux port. So I deleted all my work and just change some lines of code in clonekeen.
It is not 100% finished, some buttons need to be mapped (see the bugs in the readme) but you can play and have fun.</blockquote>
