More on the breaking News this time from Eurogamer:
PSP will see a worldwide price cut this month. From March 22nd, European gamers will be able to buy a "base unit" (presumably devoid of stuff like the headphones) for 199 Euro (about £140).
US gamers will pay $199 from the end of the month, and the Japanese will pay 19,800 yen for a white unit from April 15th.
During a press conference in Tokyo today, Sony boss Ken Kutaragi also talked about the company's plans to add a PSone emulator to PSP, with "selected games" available through digital distribution to be stored on the Memory Stick. (Cynics amongst you might question the use of the word "add", but there you go.)
Although timing on that has yet to be confirmed, Kutaragi was more specific about other new services - including an EyeToy camera peripheral to attach to the USB port, which launches in September, and video voice-over-IP (in other words, video-telephony), which will be available in October. Pricing on all of that's yet to be announced.
Kutaragi also discussed some of Sony's plans for updating PSP software this year, starting with network update to add Macromedia Flash support this, er, spring (touch wood, eh?), with extended RSS channel support also on the way to allow users to save radio content (podcasts, presumably) and movies.
There was no word on previously rumoured services and hardware iterations - for example, we know no more about "Sony Mail" or the rumoured PSP with built-in hard disk - but there was news on the GPS receiver mentioned at E3 last year. It will launch this autumn and have a role in games, starting with Hot Shots Golf.
An interesting year in prospect for PSP hardware, then, although - as with PS3 - there are still plenty of gaps to be filled in, presumably at this year's E3.

More on the new PSP Details out today.
Source - Engadget
Looks like those GPS add-on rumors were true. Now that Ken Kutaragi's PlayStation business briefing has ended we can tell ya that a new GPS receiver (PSP-290) with game support will indeed drop this “autumn” with a new GPS-enabled Hot Shot Golf title loaded-up for first release. Sony also let fly a new USB-attached PSP-300 EyeToy camera add-on for September launch which will support a new video and VoIP chat service coming in October. Also of note is the announcement of a new digital distribution system (Hub?) allowing users to download “games and applications” directly to Memory Stick – an early use will be for downloading and playing PSone games (via new emulator) directly off your memory cards, although specifics around that service have yet to be announced. Rounding things out are the announcements that a future firmware release will bring Macromedia Flash compatibility and a new RSS Channel function to save and playback internet radio and video content. All this and the PSP base-unit price will be cut to $199 by the end of the month. Still no mention of that rumored PSP email client or integrated flash memory, but we're not gonna get greedy.

So, not only did we get all those PSP goodies this morn from Sony's Ken Kutaragi at a hastily called press conference, but we also received official confirmation that indeed, the PS3 will ship worldwide in November, delaying the Spring launch that we all expected. As recently as just a few weeks ago Sony had staunchly denied the delay, though, and is now laying the blame squarely at the feet of the "copyright protection" in Sony's own Blu-ray Disc next-gen format, which is now expected to be finalized by next month. Whatevs, at this point we'll just be happy to see ours land Stateside in time for the holidays. Mr. Kutagari also confirmed that at least some PS3s will feature an upgradeable 60GB disk supporting the Linux OS, support a variety of TVs, and have backward compatibility for PlayStation 1 and 2 games. Also, that rumored HUB service was confirmed, which will go by the working title of the PlayStation Network Platform, and will be free (the Basic version anyway) supporting voice/video chat, messsaging, on-line shopping, and more. While an exact price for the PS3 was not stated, a minimum price range of about $425 was announced. See, fessing to the delay wasn't so so hard now, was it Sony? Glad you finally got it over with.

PS3 will launch simultaneously in Europe, Japan and North America in early November 2006, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. has announced.
Finally, finally confirming a release date for its next-gen console in Tokyo earlier - to much rejoicing around the globe, no doubt - SCEI claimed that it has a monthly production capacity of 1 million PS3 units. The company "will push forward a powerful product launch to spread the platform rapidly throughout the world, together with a strong and attractive lineup of PS3 game titles," it stated.
A November release for PS3 might be later than Sony originally planned, but the company unsurprisingly wants to ensure it gets things spot on with its next-gen console. "Instead of rushing it, we want to make sure we execute a solid launch... We wanted to make the Thanksgiving sales," Sony big wig Ken Kutaragi has said.
David Reeves, president of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has added: "We are absolutely delighted that we will be able to bring PS3 to gamers in Europe and Australia before Christmas. This is an exciting first for Europe, and is a huge endorsement and vote of confidence in the strength of the European market and its importance globally."
PS3 in Australia too then before we bid farewell to 2006? Feel the Sony love, all you folks 'down under'.
Meanwhile, no doubt in an effort to rob Sony's launch announcement of some of its thunder, Microsoft was happy to fire off a warning that a late arrival into the next-gen console war could cause significant problems for the Japanese giant. Craig Mundie, Microsoft's chief technical officer, is quoted as saying that if "they [Sony] slide too far [with PS3's launch, we assume] they'll find themselves in the same situation as the Xbox did when they launched the PS2 a year before we entered... That's a hill to climb.''
Anyway, SCEI went on to say in its announcement on launch plans that PS3 incorporates the final specifications of the Blu-ray disc format and that it will be compatible with standard definition and high definition TV sets. It additionally mentioned that consumers will be able to connect PS3 "to high-speed broadband network through Gigabit Ethernet and comfortably enjoy a wide-range of rich and exciting content and services over the network."
Well, we've got launch confirmation, so what we need now is pricing information. It's highly possible we'll be slapped with this at GDC next week, where Sony's Phil Harrison is delivering a keynote speech entitled 'PlayStation 3: Beyond the Box'.

March 15th, 2006, 17:31 Posted By: wraggster
Sony's PS3 console will definitely utilise a hard drive, with Sony's Ken Kutaragi confirming that such a storage device will be required for games on the next-gen console.
"The hardware was developed with the hard disk in mind," Kutaragi said at Sony's PlayStation business briefing in Tokyo earlier today. He continued: "We view the hard drive to be mandatory for the PS3...Rather than have developers create games for the PS3 with or without the HDD, we will be asking them to develop games as though all PS3s have the HDD installed."
The PS3's base hard drive will be 60Gb in capacity, but will be upgradeable, meaning, we guess, we should expect a detachable HDD unit - like the Xbox 360's. The drive will run Linux and will perform media hub and home server/network platform services, with Sony additionally saying that the hard drive unit will enhance gameplay and allow for full internet access.
What's not clear currently is whether the hard drive unit will ship in the PS3 package, Kutaragi saying on this matter that Sony "might end up installing it in all PS3s, though that depends on the market".
Seems a bit of an odd comment, especially after confirming that PS3 will require a hard drive for games, but maybe that's simply because we're observing matters from a videogame-fan angle. It sounds as though Sony is considering following the Microsoft route, offering consumers a premium 'with hard drive package' and basic 'without hard drive package', but we guess more will be revealed in the fullness of time.

It's all about the PS3 this morning and, following confirmation of a worldwide release date for the console this November, Sony President Ken Kutaragi has also provided first details of the console's online offering.
Referring to the "PlayStation Network Platform" during the Tokyo announcement this morning, Kutaragi explained that the service would be ready for the console's launch in November.
While it doesn't seem like we're in for a direct all-encompassing competitor to Microsoft's Live (at least initially), the PNP is set to feature all kinds of multiplayer game match-making services including voice chat. It will also apparently include some kind of marketplace and commercial aspects, including a software download facility.
You'll be able to connect to PS3 online via high capacity broadband networks through Gigabit Ethernet and the PlayStation Network Platform has apparently been created with the help of Sony Online Entertainment. Potential PS3 owners will be relieved to hear that the PNP will be free in its standard form, although presumably that doesn't rule out some paid components in the future.
We'll keep tracking developments and bring you more comment and analysis shortly, while we mull this one over.

PlayStation 3 might have been dominating the headlines following this morning's PlayStation briefing, but Sony has also dropped more than a few bombshells in the direction of the console's sleek handheld brother, the PSP.
PlayStation father Ken Kutaragi kicked off the briefing with some good news for those yet to splash the cash on the handheld. The PSP will receive a worldwide price cut this month; a "base unit" will be available in shops on March 22 for 199 Euros (around 140 GBP). Presumably the base pack will be devoid of headphones and accessories - much like the package already available in Japan.
Speaking at the conference, Kutaragi also revealed the company's plans to offer original PS1 games via a digital distribution service, available for download and play on an also-announced official PS1 emulator. Unfortunately, there's no word yet on whether we'll be able to transfer our games from original PS1 discs.
Release details on the PS1 emulator were scarce at the briefing, although Kutaragi was more than keen to talk about the PSP's flashy new USB EyeToy-style camera, which will be hitting in September. Motion-tracking games similar to those on the PS2 will be possible on the camera, along with video-chat and video voice-over-IP, which will be available in October.
Kuturagi also divulged info on the handheld's upcoming software update, which will include Macromedia Flash and improved RSS support, for playback and saving of net-broadcast radio and video.
There was no word today on the previously rumoured built-in PSP hard-disk, but the company did provide fresh news on the long-forgotten GPS functions previously revealed alongside the PSP's E3 debut. The GPS reciever will launch this autumn, with Hot Shots Golf being the first game supported. Interestingly, SCE lists that a library of GPS-compatible games "has already released partially.".
Things are hotting up for the PSP this year then, with those camera and VOIP functions interesting us most. As always, we expect to be fully briefed on the PSP's new hardware features at this year's E3 in May.

Take-Two publishing label 2K Games has nabbed the publishing rights to Gas Powered Games' Dungeon Siege RPG series. Accompanying this announcement from the company is news that an expansion for Dungeon Siege II on PC is in the pipeline, along with a Dungeon Siege title for PSP.
Dungeon Siege II's expansion carries the name Broken World and should be with us in the summer. According to the press blurb, the add-on picks up immediately after the events portrayed in the sequel, with a new campaign mode, a new playable race, more items and a brand new multi-class character development system promised.
Meanwhile, the PSP Dungeon Siege game has been whacked with the title Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony and is currently being whipped into shape by developer SuperVillain Studios. It's a Dungeon Siege project that's unique to the handheld platform with "all-new playable characters and a freshly designed, non-linear, single-player campaign as well as support for Ad Hoc co-operative and competitive multiplayer games."
Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony is due in the autumn.

Responding to customer demands for a version of the PlayStation Portable (PSP) that is better configured for watching recorded TV shows and movies, Sony will reissue the PSP later this year in a new configuration that includes 4 GB of internal storage. Today, PSP users have to put up with the Memory Stick Duo slot, which requires expensive add-on memory cards, if they wish to up the PSP's storage allotment. The new PSP will also include an integrated camera, according to reports. It's about time, but I'd also like to see a larger hard drive-equipped version with 60 or 80 GB of storage.

You heard it! Who would have thought that modifications for Liberty City Stories would ever turn out like this. adepsp today released the LCS Flight School that's almost similar to that of flight school in San Andreas or certain flight missions in Vice City. Basicly you start off in the dodo plane and should fly through a number of checkpoints.
So far there's an easy and a hard mode to start in and two lessons.

It appears that Sony has a new strategy for their somewhat devalued Value Packs. Just when we thought that Giga Packs were going to take over, Sony reveals five new PSP Value Packs, each we ascertain will be offered with one of five titles: Medievil, Pursuit Force, WRC, Wipeout Pure, and Ridge Racer. According to the wonky English translated version we copped, these packs look like they might go for 250 Euros, which is about 300 American.
There's been no announcement yet of when or if these packs will ever see the light of day in other territories outside of Europe, but if Sony continues to be the lovable, greedy, profiteering scamps they've always been, we can be somewhat certain that we'll see our own on this side of the planet.

The Nihon Keizai Shimbun claims to have confirmed that Sony has pushed back release of its console due to Blu-ray disc issues.
Coming hot on the heels of this morning's official announcement of tomorrow's Sony press conference comes unofficial confirmation of what it will be about. The Wednesday edition of the Japanese business newspaper Nihon Keizai Shimbun is running an article titled "PlayStation 3 Rollout Postponed Until November."
As one might expect, the article confirms that Sony's next-generation console won't arrive until the fall in Japan. Citing an anonymous source, the article says the reason for the postponement--which has been widely predicted by analysts and executives--is the electronics giant is having issues with the Blu-ray Disc format, which the PS3 uses. Even Sony spokespersons have acknowledged that a delay was a "possiblity" should such issues arise.
"Sony Computer Entertainment will delay the release of its PlayStation 3 next-generation video game console until early November because the copy protection technology for the Blu-ray Disc has not been finalized," reported the paper. No specific regions were mentioned, making it unclear if the delay was for the Japanese PS3 or a worldwide release.
While authoritative in tone, it must be emphasized that the Nihon Keizai Shimbun report is in no way official. Though Sony's last-minute decision to change tomorrow's event from a closed-door presentation to a full-fledged press conference augurs a major announcement, Sony is staying mum. When contacted by GameSpot, a Sony Computer Entertainment America rep declined comment, saying "we have not made any new announcements on PlayStation 3."

Weekly Special: Sony's PlayStation2™ horror adventure Rule of Rose at US$ 20.90 only - offer valid for 1 week
From the publisher: England in the 1930s, a small town mesmerized by the rumors and fables spun by children, this is a world that is full of the occult, strange oozing with an uncomforting and chilling dark atmosphere. The player has to control a girl called Jennifer who was thrown into this world and work together with her only trustworthy friend, a stray dog, Brown, to find clues to escaping this world.
With England in the 1930s as the backdrop, and the addition of UFOs, monsters from myths, urban myths, and devilish children's fable elements, this world is like the gathering of all horrifying things Western. Not only the small items, even the trends, lifestyles and others of the time are thoroughly researched and truthfully replicated in the game.
The recording of the voice casting is not scrooged on either, with the employment of England's famous casting producer as the director, and many of the local first line actors and actresses in accent of England of the 1930s, they cover every voice recording from start till end of the game. The attractive character design and music production, and with the high quality CG produced by "Shirogumi" who also made "Onimusha 3", "Genji" and others, the displays of emotions and facial expressions, once regarded as things that CG cannot excel in, but now there is a fine visual experience felt naturally from the player's heart.
Sony's PlayStation2™ horror adventure Rule of Rose is now available at US$ 20.90 only. This is the Chinese language version of the game, which however contains full English voices, combined with traditional Chinese subtitles.
As usually, this weekly special is valid for exactly 1 week (if not sold out earlier) and this time limited to a maximum purchase of 1 unit per customer. As a small restriction, please also notice that you cannot use any further discount coupons along with this special offer.

News From Lik Sang
Far from a mere re-release, Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence is bursting with new content, starting with an entirely new game, Metal Gear Online. That's right, online with either broadband or dial up! At last you can experience the stealth tactical military action with full 8 player battles in a variety of modes. All moves right down to the classic cardboard box disguise are here, and there's no online fees, all you need is the PS2 network adaptor and an internet connection. The full MGS 3 is here too, now with new easier and more extreme levels of play, a new and more dramatic third-person camera system, and a Demo Theatre to spice up your favorite scenes with your choice of camouflage and face paint.
Moving on, Dual Mode lets you take on boss characters, which many believe to be the greatest videogaming has to offer, then there's more Hide-'n-Seek in new levels, all of which are infested with those wacky, brainwashed, slippery monkeys from Ape
Escape. Then there's the secret theatre, and still two more entire full games! Both Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake are here! The game scored an incredible 9.8 on IGN, and with the original MGS 3 game taking up just part of one of the two discs, this is a must have for every fan, whether or not they own last year's hit release (and almost 4 million of you do!). The US edition arrives this week, but if you want the third disc with all cut scenes edited together into a 3 hour movie, sadly this isn't included in the US release, but we do still have stock of the Asian title.

New information regarding Sony's PlayStation 3 plans, which could include the pricing, launch date and initial software line-up of the console, is set to be announced in Tokyo tomorrow at a specially convened Sony conference.
Sony today confirmed that the conference, which has been widely rumoured to be the venue for new PS3 announcements since last week, will take place at 3pm local time (6am GMT) in Tokyo tomorrow, and will be open to media and analysts as well as to Sony's publishing partners.
Sony Computer Entertainment president Ken Kutaragi is set to address the conference, which will be the last possible venue for major PlayStation announcements in Japan before SCE's worldwide studios chief Phil Harrison's keynote at the Game Developers' Conference in San Jose next week, and probably the last chance for the firm to reveal PS3 details before its year-end on March 31st.
Although some commentators have suggested that the event may not include exact launch details since it is a relatively low-key conference, Sony can hardly afford to wait until E3 to announce further information regarding PS3, since it has as recently as last week claimed to be sticking to a launch timescale which will see the console appearing in spring.
Other indicators also point to a significant amount of information being released tomorrow - most notably screenshots of a PS3 version of RPG title Untold Legends, which were reportedly set to be released on Wednesday morning but were accidentally revealed a few days earlier. The timing suggests that at least some of the software line-up will get an airing in Tokyo tomorrow.
The current expectation from most analysts and publishers is that the PS3 will launch either in late summer or early autumn in Japan, followed by a US launch before Christmas and a European launch in the first quarter of 2007.

News from Lik Sang:
After a long break those suicidal green haired Lemmings are back! The PSP port, developed by Team 17 of Worms fame, includes all 120 classic levels from the 1991 original, plus 36 all new stages. For the first time you can now also create your own puzzles and have your friends scratching their heads. These can be built as stand-alone stages or level packs, then shared online. Beyond that, further new content and themes has also been promised to come from the official website.

Rather than repeat the disaster of their last major outing, Lemmings 3D, the developers have gone for the 2D gameplay this title requires, while still giving it a 3D graphical makeover and the ability to zoom in and out. Team 17 also improved other areas too, such as mapping the speed up function to a single button, giving you the ability to track a lone Lemming with the cursor, and perhaps best of all, you have five chances each session to skip a level you're stuck on, then you return to it later. The European version is due in soon, while we just received delivery of the Asian version and cleared all pre-orders. Complete with an English manual, the latter goes for the low price of just US$ 34.90, and by ordering today you can feel proud to go along with the crowd. Finally, look out next week for Worms Open Warfare on both PSP and NDS, and yes, it's back in 2D!

News from Lik Sang:
Sequel to the popular PSP launch title, Untold Legends 2 tells the tale of a realm under oppression as a powerful warlord's horrific minions continue to slaughter and enslave the people. While struggling to escape capture and death, some refugees of a secret shape-shifting race stumble upon a carefully guarded secret that rekindles hope for freedom and peace. Anyone up for the challenge will take one of five shape-shifting characters across more than 45 areas packed full of adventure, 40 unique breeds of monsters, and 12 giant bosses.

Looking back to the original, some of those most loved features were two player co-op and four player vs modes, both of which returned here kitted out with an all new macro chat system, an online lobby and match making service. Some of the further improvements include a wider range of quests, more interactive objects, animated cut scenes with voiceovers, multiple control schemes and quick menu options. The US edition arrives this week, and with all PSP games being completely region free, it doesn't matter where you picked up your console from, everyone is welcome on this adventure.

Version 0.09 By SamuraiX
I will now include two versions of BOR. The original Beats of Rage V1.0029
and the NEW OpenBor V2.0045. I suggest to use original BOR for mods that
don't require enhanced features that OpenBOR provides because 333 is needed for smooth video playback. If mod is not compatible with BOR then use OpenBOR. I do plan on upgrading both versions to use GPU in the future, so we can default to 222Mhz on OpenBOR.
Between the both of them you should be able to play any mod.
Updates:
-Compatibility with 2.0 TIFF
-New File Logger(BeatsOfRageLog.txt gets created when ever an error occurs)
-Lots of Memory Fixes/stabilizing here and there.
-Keep version identical to OpenBOR.
-OpenBOR defaults to 333 MHz (Keep Video Smooth) since its much more complex than bor.
Issues:
-Sleep Mode is not supported Yet.
-OpenBOR Hall of Fame glitch in main menu.
Usage:
-Place Image directory in the same directory as eboot. And remove original filemenu.png

Hi, all.
just wanted to announce the release of pMEnc, yet another PMP
maker. it's aimed at beginners who want the high quality videos but
don't want to or know how to use VirtualDubMod/BeSweet/pmp_muxer.
if you use PMPMod, then give it a try. it's an 'early' release, so some
of the stuff like DVD support hasn't been added yet. but, i plan on
doing just that in the future.
here's the link and some screenshots,
cheers.
any feedback would be appreciated.
