EP has released a new version of Launchelf for the PS2, heres the release info:
LaunchELF v4.22 (2008.08.14)
-Fixed various bugs that could crash the RunELF function when called with improper device names or paths to non-ELF files. From now on on real launch attempts are made only after accessing the file and checking its ELF header.
-Fixed a bug dealing with SYSTEM.CNF files for the "MISC/PS2Disc" subprogram (string termination for a file buffer from malloc was made one byte beyond the allocated area)
-The above changes also fix the inability of the previous beta to launch ELFs from virtual memory cards.
-Made a new revision of 'ps2client_for_uLE'. This rev8 fixes a problem with file open modes that prevented the new VMC driver from mounting VMC files over network.
NB: Mounting VMC files over network is not recommended at this stage, since it is very slow. The VMC driver will need a new caching strategy to make network use practical.

Just a small update post on how things are going with wolf3d.
Chilly Willy Aka JF and I have finally fixed the original sound code.
Tv Out has also been added.
I am now just working on fixing other stuff and stabilizing the game then a release will be made.
Shouldn't be long now
So just to repeat, sound is now finally fixed. Sounds fantastic, the sound effects now play at the proper tone and do actually finish playing the full sample at last. Gun shots and every other sound effect sounds clearer and more detailed. Music is crystal clear also.
Sorry to keep teasing you all with news and no releases. The reason for me doing this is because the next release of Wolfenstein will be the last one from me. So I want it to be perfect before I release it.
Then I will be moving onto another project, which as yet is up for voting for I guess
Stay Tuned.

We have released a new version of PSPUAE (Amiga Emulator for PSP), changes / improvements are listed below.
* Dumped all sound bar stereo, in an attempt to gain speed
* Corrected Makefile error, which lost us some speed
* Add CYCLE_UNIT as option, setting is either 512 (Normal) or 256 (Turbo)
* Add Chipset CYCLE_UNIT as a hidden auto switch option, that switches with CPU CYCLE_UNIT option
* Fixed screen going off center when switching off auto zoom and when selecting 4:3
* Add lock for new CPU option, stops accidently pressing option and invoking a hard reset
* Add config option checking to check cycle_unit, screen position, cpu lock and sound delay for old config files
* Add SOUND_DELAY option, this allows us to switch between 1 and 9 ms. (9 ms does speed things up, but causes sound to breakup a little)
* Add Hard Reset to Main Menu
* Add Hard Reset when PSPUAE hits "Fetch Error" (stops fetch crash/loop if Cycles set wrong after loading config)
* Altered Cycle Turbo, CPU Chipset timing to higher value (only when using Turbo Cycles)
* Dumped Sound Optimise as it did very little and caused crash
* Fix Audio Event time
* Fix Audio delay (FOL, added this as an option, so a few more FPS could be gained at the expence of the audio quality).
* Fix Home Button Exit crash, if you were in PSPUAE menu.
* When cycle unit is changed, pspuae will hard reset instantly
* If KickStart 1.3 is not found it will look for any other kickstart, with the following name format, KICK205, KICK30 etc etc. If none are found, PSPUAE will exit to PSP XMB

The FCC has come through again, giving up testing info on Sony's upcoming PSP-3001 redesign. It's still the same generation PSP and still has most of the same parts (802.11b Wi-Fi) and still plays the same games, so we're guessing most of the changes will be internal and focused on lowering costs and making the thing harder to hack. Why do we think that? Because that's exactly what Jack Tretton of SCEA said in the roundtable at E3, that Sony's working on securing the platform from piracy. We'll just have to wait and see whether it's worth upgrading to this version if you've already got a PSP.

Sony has plans to implement an A-to-Z search function on the PlayStation Store today - although sadly it's an alphabetical listing feature rather than a guide to getting around London.
So yes, content in the All Games section will now be sorted by letter, according to official say-so on the European PlayStation forum.
"Therefore, if you're looking for a specific game, demo or game add-on content by name, you can use this handy new feature to speed up your search," said Sony in its grown-up teacher voice.
The PSN Store was redecorated back in April to make it slicker, introducing a layout that makes more sense, and be more intuitive. Only, without the power of the alphabet.
Check back later to see what Sony has stocked the PlayStation Store cupboards with this week.

Bernat R*fales Mulet has been working on a great multi-platform PSP manager for 3 years and QPSPManager is the result of his labor. QPSPManager allows users to manage their savegames and ISOs/CSOs, convert video files for playback on the PSP and much more! A short list of what this program can do taken from the author's web page:
What is QPSPManager?
Welcome to the official web page of QPSPManager, The Linux PSP File Manager
QPBPManager is a PBP File manager for Linux. It's intended to use as a user friendly GUI to the known tedious pack and unpack processes of the PSP PBP files, directory generation and further copy into the PSP, in order to execute those binary files in PSPs with firmware 1.50.
QPSPManager automates this process to make it a simple task to the end user, who will only have to select a PBP file and the PSP directory, leaving all other tasks to the program. It also provides some other cool features such as selecting custom PNG, PMF and AT3 files to use as an icon or background in the PSP menu.
QPBPManager also allows the user to backup the savegames to the computer and copy those savegames later to the PSP.
Features
* Unpacks PBP files and selects automatically the icon and background files from the source file.
* Extracts the program name included in the PBP file and sets it as default output directory.
* Extracts the ELF of the PBP file and packs a fake PBP file without the ELF for showing in the menu of the PSP.
* Allows to select custom icon and background files to use in the menu.
* Allows to select custom video and music files to use in the menu.
* Allows to select the output directory on the PSP and the actual PSP directory, which is saved as an option for further usages, so you only have to configure it once (as long as the PSP directory does not change).
* Provides support for backup the savegames on the PSP to the computer and viceversa.
* Allows to compress ISO files to CISO files.
* Allows to expand CISO files to ISO files.
* Manages the ISO/CISO files on the PSP, allowing to delete them and copy them compressed or non compressed to the PSP. Download via http://qpspmanager.sourceforge.net/downloads.html

http://www.computerandvideogames.com....php?id=195256
SCEE has revealed two new PS2 games that will take advantage of new motion-tracking technology developed for the EyeToy.
Current EyeToy games can only detect basic movement in any area of the screen, but devs at SCEE London have developed new tech that allows the EyeToy to accurately track specific colours with one-to-one accuracy.
This tech will be utilised in a new first-person sword fighting game called Hero, which will come packed with a green foam sword that can be accurately tracked by the game.
Players slash the sword to perform blocking and attacking moves in the game, taking on enemies in what Sony says is a fully-fledged story-driven adventure, with a mini-game structure.
You earn new powers in the game, one of which is the ability to light up dark passages with a fiery sword (quiet at the back). An interesting stealth mechanic sees players hiding the glowing sword behind their back to mask its light as enemies pass by.
The other title, Pom Pom Party, is a cheerleading affair using similar tech presumably to track your dancing motions. One for your sister, then.
Both games are pencilled in for a late 2008 release.

Er, you know that September 10th, €99 (about £78) PlayTV launch announced by David Reeves? Well, turns out that the Sony Europe president jumped the gun or the product's been dragged through a trough of delay. Whatever the case, Sony Europe told Eurogamer that the PS3 TV tuner / DVR add-on will launch on the 19th of September now and cost a bit less at just 70 Quid. It's also said to be HD ready should local DVB-T broadcasters decide to throw that switch.

When Westinghouse launched its 40-inch LCD HDTV / DVD combo unit earlier this year, we really began to think of just how nice it'd be to broaden Blu-ray's appeal by shoving a drive into a new set for those looking for simplicity. Enter Funai -- the company currently responsible for the lowest priced standalone BD deck on the market -- which is reportedly aiming to loose an LCD HDTV with built-in Blu-ray player on the North American market next summer. The company typically brands its wares with names like Sylvania, Symphonic and Emerson, so we wouldn't expect the highest-end stuff here. That said, we're glad to see someone taking this very necessary step, even though you won't catch us recommending 'em to anyone but the technologically challenged.

Yeah, you read that correctly -- the obsessive audiophiles / videophiles at the Criterion Collection use Sony's PlayStation 3 as its reference Blu-ray player. In all honesty, we can't say we're too surprised. Time and again, Sony's latest console has been rated very highly as a dedicated BD deck, and the plentiful firmware updates ensure that it's always at the forefront of whatever interactive functionality is next. This snippet of factual goodness was extracted from a recent writeup that took an in-depth look at how the CC would be revamping its home theater, and even famed calibration guru Joe Kane gave his approval at using the console for playing back Blu-ray Discs. The real kicker? They also settled upon a DVIGear HDMI cable over one of those obscenely overpriced Ogre cables -- and that was after running clean out of coat hangers.

In his default attire LittleBigPlanet star Sackboy may not look so distinct, but Sony intends to turn the little fella into the "next emblematic character for the PS3".
Mark Valledor, LittleBigPlanet's product marketing manager at SOA said: "We want 'LittleBigPlanet' to lead the charge into a new genre of gaming and turn Sackboy into the next emblematic character for the PS3."
Sony says it expects LittleBigPlanet to be a system seller, and already has big marketing schemes in place, such as a pre-order deal that offers exclusive downloadable Sackboys to gamers who sign on the dotted line, and around 1000 billboards to go up all over San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York.
LBP is heavily backed to be one of PS3's biggest titles this year, and a major boost to Sony's appeal to the mainstream gamer, with a target audience of "everyone".
